I really can’t make fun of people that are obsessed with hallmark Christmas movies…I’m basically obsessed with the same thing except it’s my ship in a fanfiction with the same exact plot.
That’s right, it’s Christmas fic time

“No way! You didn’t!” You gasped as you held up the new (c/g) you’ve been wanting since it came out in shops.
“Oh my gosh! Thank you so much!” You wrapped your arms around Price’s torso giving him a big hug. He chuckled as he patted your back.
“No problem (Name). You deserve it after all the hard work. So do the rest of you. I know it’s upsetting that we couldn’t get home for Christmas this year, but I’m happy I’m spending it with all of you.” Price smiled.
“We’re all grateful for you too Cap.” Kyle started only for Johnny to interrupt. “So we’ve got ya a lil somethin’!” He hands Price a nicely wrapped gift.
Price takes the present gently. “You didn’t have to get me anything lads. I was already-” “See, I told you he would pull the ‘you didn’t have to get me anything’ card!”
The guys around you laughed. All except Simon. You looked over at the man who was lounging farthest away from the rest.
Deciding to make your way towards him, you started to get up only to hear a small gasp from Price. “Lads. Now this…this is something.”
Price looked down at the expensive packet of cigars and a framed picture of 141 after their first successful mission together. Gaz, Soap, Ghost, Quipt and Price. All together. Soap had so much dirt on his face Price pointed it out to Kyle beside him.
“Soap you look like an idiot.” Kyle laughed aloud. “What do you mean?! I look bloody gorgeous in any picture.” Soap exclaimed. Even though he knew he looked like an absolute mess in the photograph, he knew the meaning behind it was important.
“Yeah you fabulous in this picture too?” You asked, holding up your lock screen with a selfie you snuck with Soap one day getting the rest of the task force in the picture. Only you and Soap posed as the rest only looked up without realising they were in a picture.
“Gah! That looks- heheh I look great!” He awkwardly laughed. “Not going to lie, you look great with that filter.” Gaz pointed out. Everyone laughed again as the fire crackled from the fireplace.
“I have one more gift actually!” You got up from the carpet and walked over to the Christmas tree, picking up a small squared box.
“Simon this is for you- I know you said you didn’t want anything but…” Turning around you were about to give it to a special someone, only for them to be gone.
Letting out a small ‘oh’, you’re smile slightly faltered. “I’m going to go find him. He’ll miss the dinner if he’s gone.” You told the group who nodded at you. Most of them getting up to set up the last bit of the food.
Determined to get your gift to Simon you began your search. Looking into his office, nothing. Courtyard, nothing. Finally reaching his room, you saw a small light from under the door.
Taking in a deep breath you knocked on the door. Nerves banging up inside of you. You were finally going to tell him. Tell him how you feel.
“Who is it.” Simon’s gruff voice could be heard from his room. “Hey, it’s me. Can I come in?” You asked. Silence followed. You waited for some time to see if he’d answer.
Nothing.
You sighed. It’s not like Christmas was over because of this, but it was disappointing. Even after building up all that courage.
“Dinner is ready. So if you want to have it with the rest of us, it’s best you come down soon.” You mumbled and walked away from the door.
Before entering the room where the rest of the group were, you shook off all the feels and marched inside. You put away Simon’s gift under the tree again to keep it safe.
“Will L.t. be joining us?” Soap asked. You shrugged your shoulders. “I’m not sure. I hope he does.” Just as you two finished, the doors reopened and Simon walked in.
Helping Price bring over the rest of the food with Gaz, you all sat down. (Price sat at the top of the table of course.) You sat beside Johnny. While Kyle and Simon sat across from you two.
“Alright then. Let’s eat!” Price announced and Johnny immediately began to eat up everything.
~~~~~
Light Christmas music could be heard from the living room. Everyone had finished their food and have headed off doing their own thing.
Simon walked towards the fireplace and sat down. Looking and the flashing lights from the Christmas tree he looked over.
Noticing a small present underneath the tree, he stared at it. Curiosity eventually got the best of him. Getting up from the sofa he stalked towards the tree.
Kneeling down he looked at the small tag on the present. Doesn’t say who it’s from but there is a name.
To: Simon
He stared the small box. He thought about leaving it there. Maybe it was for someone else. Dumbass, he’s the only Simon around.
Slowly he began to peel back the neatly wrapped paper. Checking his surroundings to see if anyone had seen him.
He looked at the small black box. Slowly opening it, his eyes widened. It was a watch. A black watch with a silver designs engraved in it.
Attached to the leather band was a small ghost charm. He stared at the small gift in his large hand. A note was attached to the top of the inside of the box.
“Dear Simon. I know you didn’t want anything for Christmas but I had to get you something. I hope you like it!
Ps: I fancy you”
Simon stared at the bottom of the note. “I fancy you.” He felt a small smile tug onto his face. ‘Fancy?’ What are you guys in, secondary school?
He rose up to his full height with the box in hand. He felt his face was warmer than it first was under his mask.
He had to find you. Thank you. Tell you.
He left the room and began to yours. When you’re room came to sight he didn’t realise he picked up his pace and without thinking he knocked on your door.
No answer.
He knocked again and got nothing. Figuring that you weren’t in your room he began to look around the base.
After 20 minutes of looking for you, he found you outside in a warm coat and a scarf, looking all cozied up and warm even in the cold winter weather.
Hearing the door open behind you, you turned around. Surprised to see a 6,4 British man walking towards you with a small box in his hand.
Panic arose within you, realising he had seen the message. “Simon, I can explain the note…!” Before you could say anymore his arms were wrapped tightly around your smaller frame.
The two of you stood there in silence. You embraced him back to try and keep him warm, as he was only his a long sleeve shirt, jeans and his shoes.
“You have no idea, what’s going on right now do you?” He mumbled against your shoulder. You shook your head. “No, but I like it” you smiled.
Simon took in a deep breath and sighed, his warm breath slightly grazing over your cheek as he lifted his face from you shoulder.
Only now noticing his mask had been brought up over his mouth and just resting on his nose. “Me too.” He whispered a reply.
“I appreciate what you do, and have done for me.” He mumbled. A small heat starting to rise in his cheeks. Looking up at the man you slowly took his hands.
“We should probably head inside. It’s starting to get really cold. I don’t want you catching a cold.” You smiled up at him. Simon nodded.
Following you closely behind Simon stopped you when the two of you entered back into the warm building.
He took you by your arm and turn you around. “Simon what’s going on..?” You tried to speak, only to feel rough, scarred lips on yours.
Taking some time to understand what’s going on, you’re kind went fuzzy. Simon Riley.
Kissing you?
Without even noticing you kissed him back. His hands rested on your waist while he leaned down to reach you, as yours rested did around his neck.
He slowly pulled back from the kiss. Your lips unconsciously chased after his as he stood back to his usual height. You opened your eyes, to a surprise.
“Why…? Out of the blue…?” You whispered your questions as you took in all the facial features of the man in front of you.
Dirty blonde hair cut short but still long, the cold icy blue eyes, the small scars that were littered around his face. His chiselled jaw, and sharp nose.
Simon took your face in his large hand. You could sense his nervousness from feeling so exposed to another person. He sucked in a deep breath.
“There was a mistletoe. That’s what we’re supposed to do…right?” Your face burned as Simon’s eyes looked down at you fondly.
His face moved towards your shoulder and rested up above your collarbone. Feeling his warm breath beside your jaw, you shivered.
“I fancy you too and not only is this watch the most thoughtful gift…” His face lifted from your shoulder and looked you right in the eyes.
“You’re my favourite one.”
A Billy Butcher Christmas
Tumblr media
YOU try celebrating Christmas with Butcher...
Co-written with CheshireCat
*-*-*
Waiting alone in your dark apartment, you wondered what could possibly be keeping Billy so long.
M.M. had texted you that they were wrapping up the stakeout for that Supe they were trying to tie in with a known gun-runner and explosives smuggler. His contact had gotten spooked and never showed.
You stopped pacing and sat down on the couch again with a huff and then a long sigh. Billy was probably in some bar drinking away his anger. You only hoped he didn't start a brawl. "I suppose I should check my first-aid supplies," you griped at the empty room as you got up to check the kit you kept in a cupboard in the bathroom.
On your way back to the living room, you glanced out at the Christmas lights on the houses below your balcony twinkling like multi-colored stars in the dark. "Yeah...Merry Christmas," you said softly, thinking the best gift you could have would be Billy coming home safe and not too badly banged up.
Sighing softly, you went to the kitchen to pour a glass of whiskey. Pulling the bottle down from the top cupboard you tipped a bit of the liquid into your glass and then you poured some more. It was rich and warm on your tongue and burned just the right amount going down. Kind of like Billy.
Turning all the lights down, you went curl up in your favorite chair and just gaze at the lights. Billy would be here soon, and the alcohol helped to calm your worry.
For a bit, you made yourself relax but when you finally heard the keys jingling in the lock you jumped up from the couch, almost spilling your drink.
Damn...you could hear him grumbling and cursing through the door before it even opened. You knew how any perceived failure that amounted to wasting a night without nailing the perps they were after frustrated and angered him. You just hoped the end result wasn't too bad. Well, at least you knew you had plenty of everything to patch him up, if needed.
Setting your glass on the coffee table, you went to the door just as Billy got it open. “Hey,” you murmured. You couldn’t help but scan him head to toe checking for both injuries and his mood. He had a small cut on his temple, but that seemed the extent of his physical ails, at least.
You inwardly breathed a sigh of relief but put on a sympathetic face nonetheless.  "M.M. told me tonight was a bust. What happened?“
You knew it was good to let him grumble a bit and get it off his chest while he actually processed things. As soon as he shrugged out of his coat you took his large hand and pulled him inside leading him to the couch.
Good thing you'd thought to bring the bottle of whiskey and an extra tumbler to the coffee table.
He sat down heavily and looked up at you, dark eyes swirling with emotions but warming and calming a little as he gazed up at you. He poured himself a measure of whiskey and put his strong arm around you when you curled up on the couch beside him, pulling you in against him, tucked into his side.
Happily, you nestled in against him and waited while he gathered his thoughts.
“The cunt never even showed,” he growled. “Worthless piece of shite. I should have known better than to think he would come through. He were only someone Frenchie knew through someone else and M.M only met the fucker once.” He huffed a sigh and took a long drink of the whiskey before setting it aside. “Fucking waste of a whole night.”
“I’m sorry,” you said softly, nestling closer to him and rubbing your hand over his chest. “There’ll be another chance. It’s Christmas Eve, maybe something just threw his plans off.”
Billy turned to look at you. “It’s what?”
"It's...it's Christmas Eve," you said again softly then cleared your throat. You'd told yourself you would not be disappointed if he didn't remember, but you'd still kind of hoped maybe he felt a little of the magic in the air and would want to share that just with you.
You looked over at the little tree you'd bought and his present you'd wrapped last night and tucked under the branches. You knew he didn't have the fondest childhood memories of Christmas and had hoped to maybe make it special for him this year.
You swallowed down your own disappointment. "I just meant he might have family or a girlfriend or something and had a last minute change of plans. We’ll get another chance.”
Billy looked out the window as if he was seeing the Christmas lights for the first time and the expression on his face lightened just a little…
I won’t be home for Christmas (Another Intentional Accident)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lots of kisses and fluff // masterlist // WC: 2.7k
AN: Happy Holidays! I hope you all enjoy!
Nick was nervous.
He hadn’t done a clean shave since he started dating you. He wasn’t the most self conscious man in the world. As long as he and his clothes were clean and comfortable, he didn’t worry about it what he looked like too much.
But women were diffierent. Especially the ones you were in a relationship with.
Even if he didn’t care, they most oftentimes did. Caroline sure as hell did. He always ended up trying harder for her. Wearing certain shirts for her, ironing them more often than he would, not because he wanted to, but because he wanted to avoid the fight she’d most likely cause over it if he didn’t.
You made a comment if his shirt was dirty or if it had a hole in it, but you never pushed for him to wear anything that made him uncomfortable. In fact, you had a knack for buying him better versions of things he already liked.
For his birthday, you had brought him a more durable, expensive, maroon hoodie! The fabric was so damn buttery soft and it was heavy in the way expensive clothes were!
You were just amazing like that.
So, in an effort to remain the best boyfriend ever, he planned to surprise you a week before Christmas.
He invited a few of your close friends, and Winston, but that was only because they’d both have to drive over to Chicago in a few days so they’d make it home. That way, he also wouldn’t have to worry about missing a flight. They’d made the drive before when they were younger more than a few times, so it wansnt a big deal.
“Do you even have a key Nick?” Winston huffed.
“How are we supposed to get in? What kind of surprise is this?”
Nick proceeded to ignore Winston’s comment and open the door.
“Nick!” Natalie squealed and wrapped her arms around his neck.
“Hey, Natalie.” Nick laughed through his nose with a soft huff, putting on just as gentle of a polite smile.
All your friends were so touchy. It made sense because so were you. You always locked your arms with his on a walk. Opted to hold his hand whenever possible. If his face itched, you beat him to it, scratching the spot for him, insisting that your nails made a more satisfying scratch.
You loved his beard.
Placing your face against his if he wanted to show you something, whether he was pointing at something in public, showing you something on his phone or laptop, you stood as close as possible, placing your cheek on his. You always lingered just a moment longer, smiling against his face as you pulled his lips to match.
He knows he can’t kiss without touching your face in some way, or pulling you by your neck to come closer, but you couldn’t kiss him without kissing him everywhere. Every corner of his checks and down along the stubble or hairs on his neck.
Which is the main source of his nervousness today, he shaved his face!
His mom wasn’t always fond of his facial hair, claiming it ruined pictures and he was hiding his beautiful face.
But what if you didn’t like him without his beard? What if you started acting funny or stopped touching him?
He didn’t grow up in a touchy feely household.
He can count the number of times his father hugged him by hand. After a certain age, especially after his father left, he remembers his mom telling him he had to be a big boy. That he had to be brave and strong and be the man of the house now. That he had to look after her and his brother from now on.
Most of the hugs he ever had in life were from Jaime. Making sure he was alright or he didn’t cry too much in school, so he wouldn’t get beat up for it.
He liked your little touches. He liked how you couldn’t do anything or be near him without touching his shoulder or rubbing at his back at least once before passing by.
“Did you bring everything Nick?” Careesha asked, before enveloping him in a similar embrace and placing a warm cup of hot chocolate in his hand.
“I did!” He nodded and raised the wrapped gift for you in his hand.
“Perfect!” He watched as Natalie and Careesha jumped around and squealed with delight. You and your friends were definitely three of a kind.
“How’s work?”
“Any plans for the holidays?”
“Are you sure either of you aren’t going to bite the bullet and take the other hook for the holidays?”
“Reesha,” Natalie deadpanned, “no one’s trying to be like you and Xaviar anytime soon.”
“You don’t know what they want! They might! It’s their decision!” Reesha huffed through puffed cheeks.
“I don’t know what our future looks like right now,” Nick started with a hand on the back of his neck, “but I do know I’m gonna miss her while I’m home for Christmas.”
“Ugh, you guys are making me sick. I’m going to find more whisky for my hot coco.” Winston scoffed and headed off to the kitchen.
Nick sighed, “please, excuse my friend, Winston Bishop.” He briefly introduced, “his girlfriend dumped him before we flew out here.”
They shared a look and a couple of awkward smiles.
“Eek,” Natalie squeezed, “she’s almost here!”
Nicks eyebrows scrunched in confusion, “how do you know? Did she text or something?”
“No, I just checked her location.”
“From what?” Nick blinked.
A strange feeling started churning in his belly.
“Oh yeah,” Careesha nodded, “Nick isn’t a smart phone guy, remember? She said he likes to stay unplugged and grounded in reality?” She looked at him with a questioning smile.
“Uh, yeah.” Nick licked his lips, “something like that.”
Is that what you were telling your friends? You left out his distaste and constant distrust for the government and his fear of data tracking as well as the impending doom of mankind for choosing convenience over old fashioned know-how and basic human companionship. Also the death of community and togetherness in America and most likely the world. . . But that was fine.
Your version means less questions and arguments he’d have with everyone. You truly were a gift.
“There’s a find my iPhone app, you can share your location with certain friends, so now we can always know where each other are.”
Nick swallowed and tried not to grit his teeth.
He spends a lot of time with you.
If your friends are always tracking you, And that app is always tracking you, the government and who knows else is also tracking you! That means they are also tracking him! They probably listen too!
All those conversations he’d had with you. .
How many people know about—
The doorbell rang.
Nick’s anger was quickly buried with a wave of joy.
You were here!
“Okay, mama, I’ll call you later.”
Nick stuffed his hands in his pockets and bounced on his heels to stay quiet.
“Wha—“
“Surprise!”
“Winston!”
“Oh my god,” He chuckled and wrapped his arms around you. “That girl that Nick’s been laying around with!” He fake gasped.
“Shut up,” you hugged him back with a smile, “I know you know my name.”
“Fuck, Winston,” Nick pulled you into his chest by your arm, “what about me huh? Your actual boyfriend?”
He firmly gripped your cheeks with one hand, playfully squeezing a little tighter and letting go. His smile wavered a bit. Your cheeks were cold. You had no scarf, or hat. . .
Fuck. . .
You were about as dumb as he was.
“Where’s your hat? Or scarf? Anything?” He fussed over you. As he helped you take your coat off, he rubbed the material in his hands.
This coat wasn’t thick enough.
And it’s fucking windy as hell and you don’t even have a scarf or hat. No gloves or mittens either!
“I’ll be alright.” You smiled.
Still holding onto your cheeks, he pulled you in for a kiss. Not failing to slip his tongue inside. He needed to taste you, feel your mouth on his, and commit the warm plushness of your lips and every corner of your mouth to memory before he leaves.
“No, it’s not.” He broke the kiss, speaking lowly in your face. His tone making butterflies in your stomach.
You couldn’t really speak, your chest puffed up and down, breathless from the kiss as well as the air and the cold. Perhaps he was right, but you had no idea where to shop for warm things or what makes a coat warmer compared to others. What day do you wear a hat or gloves or neither?
He brushed your cheek with his thumb.
“You know what I thought of all winter?” You shook your head, opting only to smile at him with your lips slightly parted. If you kept looking at him like that, he swore he was going to kiss you again, “whether your coat was warm enough? Did you have the right gloves? Did you remember what to do to your car the night before? Praying, that ice wouldn’t be on the road on the days you have to drive to work.”
“I know,” you placed a hand on top of his, rubbing at his fingers while his kept brushing your cheek, “I’m trying. I really am.”
You were listening to him, but from how wide and glossy your eyes were, he knew you weren’t, not really.
“Are you okay?”
“Yeah, why do you ask?”
“Because you're starting and you're half listening to me.” He laughed which made you laugh too.
“You shaved.” You placed your hands on his cheek now, and he couldn’t help but feel a little self conscious. You’re standing so close to one another, and now you're both holding onto each other's faces like a couple of idiots, lovesick idiots in puppy love.
He’d rather have done this alone now. Without an audience.
“I like it.” You grinned.
“Yeah?” He couldn’t help the hope that tinged his voice.
“Yeah!” You kissed him again. Slowly, and thoroughly, so tender and soft. Leaving him to bask in the feeling. He always lost track of time and every moment when you were leading a kiss. Nothing and everything felt so intense at the same time. “I’m still going to miss your beard but this is. . Different! In a good way!”
“Really?” Now it felt like you were laying it on a bit thick.
“It’s like,” you weren’t looking at him now. Your eyes dart wildly at everything before choosing to look down. He lifted your face with a finger, making you laugh dotly in his face. The feeling of it danced across his nose and cheeks. “It makes everything warmer.. hotter. It feels like everything is even closer than before. Like, I’m really feeling all of you.”
He kissed you again. Harder than before.
Not caring about who's around or who’s in the room.
And there it was.
Without the scratch of his beard you felt all of him. The heat of his cheeks on yours. You could actually feel all of the kiss and not be distracted by the scratchy feeling. You could focus on how hot and wet his mouth is. The way his tongue swept across yours, leaving you with no choice but to follow his pace. To allow him to consume every part of you. Leaving a strong want and desire to flood your senses.
“Alright, you two are seriously killing the vibe.”
“Oh,” you heaved with a smile, “hey Winston.”
Winston gave a fake smile before frowning.
“Wrap it up you two. You can have sex later.”
“Speaking of,” Nick started, “I got you something.”
Nick handed you a present wrapped in Newspaper. It had a bow made out of industrial rope.
“You're so environmentally conscious.” You smiled as you unwrapped the gift.
“If you mean cheap, with the best repurposing skills you’ve ever seen, I’ll take it.”
“Oh, Nick.” You smiled. Tears budded at your eyes. You didn’t have time to laugh at his joke before seeing what he had gotten you.
It was a giant cream wool and cashmere scarf, and a matching hat that was lined with silk.
They were so warm.
“Nick you shouldn’t have.” You wrapped your arms around him, squeezing him tight.
“And let you freeze to death when I’m not around?” He scoffed with a smile. “I don’t think so.”
“Okay, enough!” Natalie shoved Nick to the side and hugged you. “We’ve let you two have your moment long enough. There’s a room full of people that love you too!”
Everyone had a great time.
Winston got a little crazy after having to draw 4, four times in a row. Careesha claimed you were cheating, after you won three times in a row, but shenanigans aside, it was amazing. Neither of you would have changed this night for anything else in the world.
Nick went out to the balcony.
He imagined you having a small quiet time out here, in the morning time before you went to work.
“What are you doing out here?” You had put on the scarf and hat the moment you opened it.
You had your coat on now.
Not being able to help himself. He paws at the scarf on your necks maneuvering it in a way where it covers your head and your neck.
“Better?” He smiled.
“Oh my goodness you're a winter genius!”
“Well I was born and raised in Chicago.” He took the other cup of hot chocolate out fontour hand that you brought out for him.
“This spiked stuff is good.”
“Really?” Your eyes sparkled at him and he laughed.
“Absolutely,” he took another sip, “it’s the right amount of whiskey to coco and milk or whatever you used. All the proportions taste right.”
“It’s my recipe!” You beamed at him. “It’s the perfect amino of whisky, a little Baileys, and then regular hot chocolate stuff, but I also chop up some chocolate with the coco powder.”
“It’s so good! You should consider quitting a lawyer and becoming a bartender! I think you’d have a bright future.” He said seriously.
“Well I always wanted to change my career in the middle of all the success and fortune for another one.” You said just as seriously.
You both laughed and he wrapped an arm around you.
You both admired the city lights and falling snow.
Fuck. . . He wasn’t going to make it home for the holidays again. There’s always next year.
He pulled out his phone and dialed his mom’s number.
“Heeey, Ma,” he drawled. Biting back his smile so she couldn’t hear how happy he was, “I missed my flight again.”
He pulled the phone from his ear as she started yelling and asking questions.
“No, everything’s booked up or canceled, now.”
You pinched his cheek, and he bit your finger before you could pull it away. You let out a little scream of a laugh and he had to grab you and cover your mouth, almost making him laugh out loud too!
“Alright, I’m sorry, I’m sorry. I’ll do better next year. . . love you too.”
“Nick—“
“—Let’s spend Christmas together.”
“Yeah?” Your eyes were watery and he kissed away your tears.
“Yeah, you big crybaby,” he smiled and kissed you, “let’s do this. Let’s spend Christmas together. Just the two of us.”
“I’ve never had Christmas without my family before.” You sniffled.
“I know, I know,” he rubbed your shoulders. “We don’t have to if you—“
“—no I do!” You cut him off with a kiss. “I want to spend Christmas with you too!”
“Yeah?”
“I’m a big girl.” He wiped your last tear with his thumb. “I can handle a few days without seeing them.
Nick kissed you one more time.
“What about Winston?” You asked.
“Oh,” Nick blinked. “He probably already left without me.”
You blinked back at him for a moment.
“You're probably right.”
He kissed you again.
“Can you please stop bringing up Winston when I’m kissing you?”
𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝𝐧’𝐭 𝐇𝐚𝐯𝐞 — 𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐯𝐞 𝐇𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐨𝐧
day two to my christmas drabbles advent calendar
summary — steve gets you a christmas present after you’d agreed to no gifts this year.
warnings/tags — fem!reader, she/her pronouns, reeder celebrates christmas
notes — i hate this lol
“I don’t think I have enough money saved to buy Christmas presents and pay bills this year.” Was what you had said to Steve a month ago.
You’d both agreed to hold off the gift-giving for just this year. But you’d agreed to it so sadly, Steve hasn’t been able to get the upset look on your face out of his head ever since.
It’s easier to imagine the joyful look you had on your face when you’d pointed to the polaroid camera in the window at Percy’s Photography in the middle of town. You’d gushed to him about how you’ve always wanted one but never been able to afford it. And Steve’d be damned if he didn’t get it for you for Christmas. You deserve it.
Now he’s sat on your couch, a few days before Christmas with the box squished between him and the cushion at his back. He’s waiting for you to come back from the kitchen with your drinks and he’s nervous. More nervous than he thinks he should be.
He knows you’ve been down ever since the festive season has begun. The joyful person you usually are around this time of the year is hard to be found and he’s determined to change that.
You come back out and he misses your smile sorely.
“I burnt myself on the milk,” you pout, sitting down next to him, careful not to spill the hot chocolates in your hands.
Steve sits up and accepts his drink. He sets it down next to him instead and takes your free hand into his own. He feels over your red fingertips and you let him.
“Are you okay?” he asks, pushing his fingers into yours gently.
“Yeah,” you sigh, “just stings a bit.”
You sit your own drink down without even sipping it and take your joined hands to your mouth to kiss the back of his.
“Do you need an ice pack?” he worries, letting you press your lips into his skin. He wants to kiss yours instead, but let’s you love on him.
You part from his hand and shake your head, “M’okay. Thank you.” You kiss him once more for good measure.
He lets you shuffle around until you’re comfortable, crossing your legs over so your thigh is pressing into his. Once you’re settled, he thinks it’s the perfect time to pull the gift out. His nerves slowly form into excitement. It radiates from him and feels it’s an injustice next to you where you sit sadly.
“I have a surprise,” he says, interrupting you where you flick mindlessly through channels on the TV.
Your eyes light up just a little and Steve can feel his heart tick faster. You turn so you can face him.
“A good one?” you ask over the rim of your mug. After a sip, you sit it down to give him your full attention.
“I think so.”
You bite your lip, “Did you find some more of the fudgy cookies I like?” you giggle a light, airy sound.
Steve laughs too, reminding himself to find your favourite dessert next time he goes shopping. “No, I think it might be better.”
“Okay.”
He pulls the box from where its corner is pressing into his back, sitting it in your lap. He watches your giddy excitement turn to something like confusion. Still, you’re happy.
You pick the box up and run your fingers over the folds in the wrapping paper. Over the little pictures of reindeer and snowmen.
“Steve…” you murmur, voice too quiet.
“Open it,” he urges gently, nudging your knee with his own.
“What is this?” you ask, flipping the box over in your tender hands.
“An early Christmas present.”
“Steve, I thought we-“
“Yeah, I know. We weren’t gonna get each other presents this year, but I could t help myself.” he rambles, his own giddiness is dizzying.
“Well, what am I gonna get you?” you ask, present completely forgotten. He almost feels a little guilty.
“No, nothing,” he shakes his head until the hair behind his ears falls into his eyes. “Don’t worry about that. Just, please baby, open the box.”
You hesitate for a moment and then move to flip it to unstick the tape from the pretty wrapping. Being too gentle for Steve’s liking. Personally, he would’nt care about keeping the paper intact.
When you can clearly see what’s under the wrapping, your eyes go wide, a pretty smile washing your features.
“Steve,” you gasp, scrunching the paper in your hands. Steve grins almost just as wide as you.
“You like it? I hope it’s the right one, the lady at the store said-“
You throw yourself into Steve’s chest, wrapping your arms around his neck. Falling into him until he lands backwards into the couch. Steve laughs wildly, landing with a happy oomph.
“It’s perfect. I love it,” you murmur into his neck. He squeezes you close as if he’ll be able to hear your happy voice even clearer.
“You sure?” he asks. He genuinely hopes he hasn’t stuffed up.
You squeeze into him, pressing your nose into his hair. You really try not to cry. You love Steve’s heart more than the present in this moment. The gift half-forgotten next to your legs.
“I love you,” you say instead.
Steve stammers, “I love you too, sweetheart.”
You press your lips to his neck, kissing him lovingly. “You’re amazing. Truly.”
Steve laughs madly. “Not as much as you, honey.”
You settle in his lap, more content with loving over your amazing boyfriend then opening the present even more. It can wait.
“You gonna open it up?” Steve asks while you push your head closer to his shoulder.
“In a minute. Wanna sit here for a moment. I’m just really happy.”
Steve’s heart swells, “Oh, sweetheart. I’m happy that you’re happy.”
You giggle against his neck after a beat, “I’m going to take so many photos of you.”
Steve groans lightheartedly, like he’s not already excited. “Not as much as I’ll take of you.”
“Never.”
Tumblr media
Adrian Chase x F! Reader
{a/n Christmas 2022 this idea was first thought of but shelved because there just wasn’t the time to start it. Until now because the Adrian thirst is once again making me feral for this lil guy, and the need to write something was too strong to ignore. So here it is, a vague idea that I’ve let take the lead so this story goes where it wants to go…you have been warned🤣Merry Christmas!}
*Huge thanks to @powerfultenderness for guiding me through this, you are on the good list♥️*
*Takes place after show, characters all established and in this world Vig still has his parents*
~Three POV’s and a whole lot of secrets are poured into this holiday story, which is clearly spiked with festive cheer and definitely shouldn’t be read whilst driving, this is a tasty Christmas treat that you definitely don’t want to miss!~
{Part 1} {Part 2} {Part 3}
{WARNING: 18 PLUS/ swearing, blatant disregard for the holiday season, lots of smut, p in v, oral sex, doggy style, under a Christmas tree, flirting and teasing, tis the season for cheesiness, ambiguous ending}
Santa’s Elves
A/N countdown to Christmas writing competition, day 2 (2nd Dec)
poly!marauders x reader
“Ugh this shirt is so itchy!” Sirius complains, tugging at the collar of his costume. “Why are you making us do this again?” He groans.
“Because it’s nice! The kids love it! And it means that the kids who’s parents can’t afford gifts, still get something from Santa.” I reply, tightening my ponytail in the mirror before tying a ribbon on top to perfect the look.
The other boys and actually excited about it, especially James, he loves kids. I volunteered me and the boys to help out at the local Christmas event in my home town as soon as I saw they were looking for elves. I knew it would be a great way to help the kids. It was also a great excuse to see them in the holiday, but don’t tell Sirius or I’ll never hear the end of it.
I hear my grandmother call from downstairs, “If you and your friends want a lift to town centre you better hurry up!!” All the boys snigger at this.
“Yeah y/n, you and your friends better hurry up.” I haven’t told my family that I’m seeing the 3 of them, they’re pretty old fashioned and wouldn’t approve. But James’s family knows and they love all of us and make us feel accepted and that’s enough for us.
“Oh shut up.” I shove him. “Coming!” I yell back and usher the boys downstairs. We all hope into the car and drive to town centre. When we get there, there is a queue at least a mile long to meet Santa, and it’s not even open for another half an hour.
Well this is going to be a lot of work, but at least I have my boys to keep it fun.
Prompt: 18. Blankets And Snuggles [C6]
Pairing: Turpin x Fem!Wife!Reader
POV: Second, Reader & Third, Turpin
Setting: Turpin’s house
Continuation of: Prompt 4. Sharing, 6. Out Of Care, 13. Shimmering Icicles, 15. Cards And Coals & 17. Bells Of Christmas
A/N: I'm sorry I'm late - IRL stuff has to come first and it's been crazy over here. Lots of things going on and even more things I have to do that absolutely need my undivided attention unfortunately. so, fandom has to take a little step back at times even if this is a daily event. I write too much for my own good, honestly. but... it is what it is and I do love it, I'm just very stressed out right now and I have finished writing today's fic as well so I'll be posting that one right after this one.
Yeah, so, diving right in again and we’re going to have some more rough smut - literally continuing where we left off last time - as the prompts lined up so damn splendidly and to get the chance to give that all-important aftercare Richard hasn’t grasped fully yet but is feeling a need for without being able to understand it himself 😂 But, yes, a little rough smut first, then we get all the cuddles and snuggles and fluff along with confessions and all that goodness! Iiiih, I’m so excited! 😍👏
⩤• You •⩥
He loved you. He truly did. His words rang sweet and true in your ears and you were desperate to reach up and hug him, but with your arms still held in place by your destroyed dress you had to resort to clawing at the sheets below instead. “Now,” he began in a deep murmur, “we shall see what my little wife can take,” he continued and your stomach flared with warmth while your heart stuttered in your chest. You were excited, a bit scared, but ready to follow his lead.
Richard straightened up while grabbing your thighs, tugging you closer still. You whimpered as his hands held on firmly and his cock was as far in as it could possibly go. You were so full, so stuffed with him your inside struggled to adjust for a second.
“You wished to be my little whore, did you not?” he purred while he jerked his hips forward harshly. You were immobilised by the dress and his grip. “Y-yes,” you confessed even if shame burned your throat with the word. “Such a sweet word,” he hummed as he began thrusting harder. You moaned, your head thrown back, exposing your throat to him while he rocked both you and the bed with his harsh thrusts.
Your dress snagged beneath you, turning tighter and locking your arms against your sides while his hands sank lower. He gripped at the very top and his thumb found your aching clit, stroking it right on the edge of too harshly. “ Fuck ,” he hissed. “What a sweet — mmh — sweet little whore I have.” “Richard,” you whined as he picked up the pace and your insides corded with the pleasurable pain of his brutal treatment. “Little slut,” he groaned. “Sweet—” thrust “—little—” thrust “—slut—” thrust “—of mine,” he said as you tried to meet his movements. You couldn’t, you were his for the taking.
You cried out as the orgasm hit you, one of his hands clamped around your throat as you whimpered and shook. Pleasure flooded your entire body and mind while he leaned over you, some of his weight pushing down on your throat while he fucked you to the brink of breaking. Your body wasn’t experienced enough yet to take any more.
“S-stop,” you whimpered. “Oh no, little whore,” he said through clenched teeth as he squeezed your throat, and another thrill shot through you. “Whores do not decide,” he continued with a deep groan before his pace turned erratic. “R-Richard,” you whispered between gasped breaths while your head began to spin. You got enough oxygen so you couldn’t understand why you felt so dizzy. “So good,” he groaned. “So — haa — fucking good,” he groaned just before he stilled. His cock pulsed within you and you shuddered at the warm burst filling you while he moaned the most delicious of satisfied sounds while releasing you and supporting his weight with his hands on each side of your head.
His panted breaths fanned over your face, his eyes closed while he drew ragged breaths and you couldn’t help but feel some pride, knowing it was your body he took such pleasure from. But you were coming down from your high, the pleasure ebbing away — leaving the pain behind.
Richard slipped out as he bent to kiss the tip of your nose and you whimpered on a hiss. You were so sore, in pain after his rough treatment of your inexperienced body. Yet, still, you couldn’t help but feel good beneath the shame of what you had just wanted and agreed to. Will he send me away now again? You hated the thought and your fingers flexed as you wished to grab him and never let go.
“You did so well,” he murmured by your ear and warmth crept along your bare chest and throat. “My sweet wife, so full of surprises.” “I… I want to hold you,” you said and his gaze caught yours. “Anything you need, love.”
He freed you of the dress while you tried not to move too much, every motion hurt in a dull sort of aching way. “Sore?” he asked, a flicker of trepidation in his eyes. You shook your head, not wanting to put a damper on the moment. “Do not lie to me,” he demanded while grabbing your chin. “Are you hurt?” “Yes… It hurts,” you confessed while trying not to drown in the storms of his eyes. “A bath, a warm bath.” He moved off the bed and your hands instinctively reached for him as you didn’t want him to abandon you alone in the bedroom.
He did not. He scooped you up with ease and nuzzled the side of your head for a second before carrying you off to the bathroom where he deposited you on the one chair in the room before he began filling the tub. You watched with your eyes roaming all over his naked body while he bent over the edge, mixed oils with the steaming water and then rummage through the closet in the corner for some thick towels.
“Ready?” he asked and you nodded before standing. “Gently now,” he ushered and you took his hand before stepping into the perfectly hot water and sank down with a hiss and groan of pain-mixed pleasure as the water engulfed your body. “Forward,” Richard said and you obeyed. He stepped in and sank down behind you before tugging you against his font where you deflated. “And for you information, this is wife treatment,” he murmured before kissing the top of your head where it rested against his sturdy chest. It made a smile stretch your lips.
⩤• Turpin •⩥
He held you close yet was gentle in his grasp. Your head lulled to the side and after another moment your breaths turned slower. You were fast asleep against him and he was alone with his thoughts for all intents and purposes.
His finger drew circles on your hip while his body soaked up the warmth of yours, the closeness you offered. He could not stop his errant thoughts, the guilt and anguish of what he had done to you in the bedroom before he ever knew you consented. Sure, you had wished to be a whore and not his wife, but he was not foolish enough not to know those were words spoken in anger and hurt — not an actual request. Yet, his own anger had made him be so violent with you, so volatile and harsh.
Some part of him had held back though, thank the lord above, yet he had still treated you roughly. Your body was far from experienced and now, as you both lay in the water, he couldn’t help but wonder if he had truly harmed you. The thought made his throat constrict and his hands hardened atop your hips before he forced himself to soften again.
When you had cried and asked him to stop he had both wished to do so instantly and to keep going, harder and rougher, to truly drive home the point you were not his whore but his wife and should not wish for it to be the opposite. He chuckled at that, thinking of how your body had reacted, how soaked and ready your perfect cunt had been to take him even if he had forced himself to enter you in a less than gentle way. Yet you enjoyed it, love… Quivering and whimpering, pulsing around my cock like a true slut. My sweet wife, ever the surpriser.
He had enjoyed what had happened, far too much perhaps, yet through it all (until you told him to do it) he had struggled with the hurt he was causing you — your tears, your cries, your pleading and whimpering. He never wished to lay harm upon you, only pleasure, yet he had forced himself to treat you how you had first unknowingly wished for and then how you asked of him to do. Some twisted, broken, dark part of him had enjoyed it to some extent. He was a depraved man, with urges and wants and likes on the rougher side. Yet, that part of him had barely been heard while he had done what he did until you consented. Everything was different with you.
Richard adjusted himself behind you and your head tipped further to the side, giving him an uninterrupted view of your beautiful body. His cock jerked and half hardened at the sight you were. The redness around your thighs from his former grip, the slight swelling of your cunt he’d taken harshly, the peaking of your nipples under the warm water just barely below the surface. Such perfection, and all mine …
He hardened further as he watched your chest rise and sink with every breath and the echo of your whiny moans filled his head, the view of you throwing your head back in pleasure while tears streamed down your pretty face had him grow solid in a matter of seconds. “What you do to me… My sweet little slut of a wife… Perfection in my arms, for my cock,” he whispered by your ear while his fingers softly kneaded your hips before travelling up along your sides only to gently cup your breasts.
He held still for a moment, and then his thumbs brushed up and down over your nipples as they fully hardened into points while you remained asleep. His plan was not to wake you or take you again, simply to pleasure your body sweetly through your well-deserved sleep. He knew that light arousal after such intensity could ease soreness and slight aches — that was his only intent as he listened to your breathing grow a tad louder while he gently kept circling your nipples.
When the water began to grow cold he held you closer and said it was time to wake up. You hummed and stirred before he felt you wake up fully. “Oh,” you whispered, “I fell asleep…” “Indeed, much-deserved sleep too.” He kissed the top of your head. “But it is time to move.”
You were both dried off a minute later and he wrapped you in a thick robe before motioning for you to sit on the chair again. After a moment of hesitation and an arched brow from him you did as he asked. Richard took a smaller towel and began to gently dry out your hair, squeezing it gently and massaging your scalp with the lush fabric. He listened to you hum in delight and a small smile stretched his lips.
He had the strangest urge to care for you, pamper you, lavish you with warmth and adoration. He had never before felt such a need. Usually, it was a harsh banging and a toss of coins before he sent the whore on her way with little to no care for her feelings or aches. The coins … He felt a debilitating sense of relief he had not fully committed to the whole whore affair with you, he had grabbed the coins, planning to toss them on the bed after he’d fucked you to only his pleasure — to show what the letters had meant about lavishing upon whores — and then for him to just leave you there on the bed after it all to truly drive home the point.
He paid his whores well, more generous in his coin spending than most but he had his reasons for it. Silence being one, the depths of his depravity and lust for violent ownership another. Whores were far more willing when they knew the price was worth their fear and pain — as he now knew, some even enjoyed such treatment. My sweet wife perhaps one in dance with sinful lust as well, can I hope for it to grow?
“Richard?” “Hm? Yes, love?” He had become lost in his thoughts for a moment. “Thank you, for being so sweet to me now,” you said and he looked at you in the mirror before the both of you. “I-, well I hated how you sent me away before, as if you didn’t care for me at all after saying such sweet things about me… As if… As if it were lies…” He watched your reflection in awe, the rosy colour spreading wildly, your lowered, bashful eyes and insecure smile. Your innocence was far too sweet but he wished to lap it up like honey.
“I sent you away to offer space, a chance for you to find your thoughts,” he said while he scrunched the strands in the towel one final time. Leaving it just a bit moist. “Don’t do that again… Please,” you asked and he watched your shoulders tense. “As you wish, love.” “I mean it, I thought you rejected me.” “Never.” “And… And how do you feel about me now?” you asked with trepidation in your shallow voice. It had him confused, why would you ask such a question when he was so gently caring for you? Something he would never do for another. Had never done for another.
“What do you mean?” “You-, you said you loved me and I—” you gulped down a breath “—feel so shameful for what we-, what you-, what I… For what happened. It’s not proper, it’s sinful, it’s dirty, it’s—” “Perfection and wonderfully brave,” he finished by interrupting you.
He stepped around you, grabbing your hand and tugging you to your feet. “Y/n, love, you are only perfection in my eyes. If you wish me to be rough with you, take from you, lavish you with gentleness, or treat you like the little slut you are when whining beneath me, I’ll do so. No matter your wish, I will gladly oblige,” he said while forcing you to look him in the eye by grabbing your chin with his free hand.
“Seeing you like that, all for me to take however I please… There is nothing but beauty in that for me.” “But it’s so wrong,” you whispered. “Nothing is wrong between two consenting adults, love. I will worship you, go into the depths of depravity to please you, and it pleases me greatly to find you willing to be taken like that.” “It’s not wrong of me?” “Darling, no,” he affirmed before kissing you swiftly on the lips. “There is nothing wrong with you and there will be no shaming between us, ever.” “You promise?” “I promise.”
You were in his arms the next second, sniffling into his shoulder while he held you tightly. “Tell me what you need to feel safe,” he said. “I— Just you,” you answered. “I want to be close to you.” “I want to care for you, as I have never cared for another, sweet wife.” He parted your bodies and took your trembling hand in his larger one. “Let me care for you,” he continued before tugging you to move with him.
He told you to lay on the bed, atop the cover as the sheet was a mess, while he rummaged through the closet for blankets and pillows. He carried them all over and got another round of them from the closet. He fluffed the pillows before laying down, dragging you into his side while wrapping his arm behind and around you and pulling the blankets up over your bodies still dressed in the robes. He held you close, kissing the top of your head, nuzzling into your head before kissing your temple as well with a delighted hum. Never had he felt so at peace, so warm, so perfectly at ease.
⩤• You •⩥
Not long ago had you said to Miss Lowel that the man you were now cuddled up to couldn’t possibly feel a thing for you, that you weren’t even sure he had the capability of feeling positive things. How wrong you had been, how harshly you had misjudged him, and how you loved that. Had you been right, you would have forever been forced to live as a wife to the man you loved without ever receiving a scrap of affection in return. What a terrible existence it would have been. It’s not my forever, it’ll never be that way now.
Richard tugged the blanket closer to your chin, holding you tightly against his warm body. It felt perfect. Never had you felt so safe, so warm, so certain life was to become warm again, warmer than ever before. Blankets and snuggles, it was perhaps to become one of your favourite things — after… well, after… A small giggle left your lips as a fresh blush coloured your skin. It would take a while for you to be comfortable even thinking about the adventures among sheets you and your husband could have.
“Comfortable?” he asked, the deep drone of his voice like a caress for your senses. “Far more than comfortable, husband of mine,” you admitted and he stiffened for a second. “Something wrong?” “That is the first time you have termed me in such a manner.” “No, I’ve said you are my husband several times, Richard.” “Indeed, but never husband of mine ,” he mumbled and, as you glanced up from where your head rested on his upper chest and shoulder, you saw the smallest hint of a rosy tint to his pale cheeks. Your heart positively fluttered at the sight. “Husband of mine,” you whispered before reaching up your hand to cup his cheeks. He leaned into your touch and you felt yourself melt fully for him. He cared, he loved you, he wished for none but you, for you to call him yours and yours he was — as you were his…
A/N: Uffh, gosh, it felt good to write this after the last fic - like, don't get me wrong, loved last prompt's fic so much but getting to the emotions and the aftercare and the fluff after what happened with these two last just feels so good 🙈👏❤ Also, a reminder, this is fiction - this story (especially the smut parts) is not how it should be in reality. Consent always needs to be there - like Richard says, two consenting adults! You obviously already know that, but I do always feel it should be said just for clarity 🥰
Also, I am beyond exhausted. Like, I'm sorry I'm late but... This month is draining me 😂 It's not so much Rickmas (even if that obviously adds a lot to the pressure and stress) it's more everything else. Gosh, wish I could turn off the world and be in my fanfiction bubble for all of December, would have been frikkin nice 😅
Q: If you had to force-feed a Rickman character 100(!) gingerbread cookies in one sitting - who do you think would be able to handle it the longest? 😂😂😂 A: I honestly have no real idea, I feel like Nottingham would do his damnedest to go through it if you dared and taunted him enough about it though 👀
Christmas Eve, 1817 Aubrey Hall
Anthony stared at the snow swirling viciously outside the nursery window. It was proving to be one of the worst Christmases he had ever experienced. Though he always found it to be a taxing time of year, he had put every effort into creating a memorable holiday for the entire family. All of his siblings were invited to gather at the family estate which had been hung with so much fragrant greenery he felt as if he were cutting through uncharted forest while indoors. So many gifts and candles and bottles of wine had been purchased that he already felt the ache in his coffers. But his plans had been dashed. The uncommon snowstorm had prevented the arrival of Simon and Daphne from Clyvedon, as well as inhibited the delivery of the turkey for dinner. Gregory had somehow set a horse loose from the stables which had yet to be recovered; a tenant had suffered a chimney fire which needed urgent repair; and worst of all, his firstborn had taken ill with a cold.
Kate had wanted to tend to Edmund rather than leave him in the care of his nurse, but she was also needed by their newborn, Miles. Anthony had volunteered to sit with his son through the night, both to comfort his wife and because he too didn’t want to leave the boy’s side. He turned to Edmund and ran a hand softly through the dark waves of his hair. He looked so small even in a child’s bed; the bed where Anthony himself used to sleep. The viscount could not suppress the sinking feeling of failure. That he had been unable to keep his family together and healthy for a holiday they could cherish. That he hadn’t been able to give his son the perfect Christmas, if such a thing were possible.
His mind wandered back to the first winters without his father. Christmases that were drab and quiet. With his mother too pained to spend more than one obligatory hour with the family on the holiday, he himself had taken on the responsibility to make merry for all his younger siblings. It was a role he felt entirely unsuited to and one that grew more difficult to play as time wore on. Each Christmas after the gifts were opened and everyone scattered to various entertainments, he snuck out to walk in the wood where he could safely drop the facade. Sometimes he brought a rifle for hunting, other times he did not. Sometimes he hid until sundown, other times only for a short spell. But he needed the solitude. Particularly if it had snowed, the muffled silence in the blanketed landscape was a comfort. A moment alone with his thoughts when he was not being asked to sign a ledger or make a decision or shoulder the crushing weight of lifting everyone’s spirits. Being among the trees always made him feel closer to his father, bringing him memories of their excursions when he was a boy. The wood was the last place he had shared a happy moment with Edmund and if he were honest with himself, some mad, irrational part of him was still looking for him there. As he sloped back onto the snowy lawn, bracing himself for Christmas dinner, he wistfully hoped to turn around and see a second set of ghostly footprints beside his - any sign that he was still being guided. Any sign that he was not alone.
As he gazed at his new little Edmund, wondering if their memories together would serve as a balm for his past, there came a soft knock at the door followed immediately by a muffled clatter and a curse. Swinging the door open, he found his brother bent double, collecting items as they rolled across the floor.
“Benedict?!” Anthony hissed. “What on earth…?”
The second son looked up at him, eyes glinting as he juggled his retrieved goods. His waistcoat was made of a patterned silk so shimmering, he looked like a wrapped gift on his own, topped with the bow of his brightly colored cravat. “Ah, it’s you! I expected Kate would be here.”
He pushed past Anthony and into the nursery, stopping at the foot of Edmund’s bed.
Anthony followed. “I sent her to bed, she’s exhausted. What are you doing?”
“Little chap has to wake up to something in his stocking.” With a crooked grin, Benedict began depositing the treats he held into the oversized stocking on the footboard. An orange, a half penny, a small cake wrapped in paper, one by one he tucked them away safely.
Anthony sighed, planting his hands on his hips. “So you’re Father Christmas, are you?”
Benedict smirked as he rifled through his jacket pockets, producing a fistful of nuts. “I’ve been called many things, but you’d be the first to call me that.” Making final touches to the gift assortment, he stepped back satisfied, and clapped a hand on his brother’s shoulder. “How is my Nephew Ned?”
The viscount’s brow furrowed and jaw locked. He looked at his ailing son. “I don’t know if he’ll be awake to enjoy your gifts, brother. He’s so ill.”
Benedict could see the tears mounting in his eyes, could hear the fearful quiver in his voice. His elder brother rarely let the mask of authority slip and he knew from experience that it may be a precursor to a spell of panic. He was well-versed in helping him to tame his thoughts and knew that such assistance was needed now. “It’s a nasty cold, yes. But only a cold, Anthony. We all endured much worse when we were children, remember?”
He hung his head with a sniff. Benedict tightened his grip on his shoulder.
“Dear brother, you must keep faith that everything will be alright. When was the last time you slept?”
“I don’t know,” he murmured.
“I can keep watch over him, you should go rest.”
“No.” Anthony shook his head profusely, snapping out of his melancholy and back into action. “No, my place is here.”
“We can’t have you making yourself ill too,” Benedict chided, leading him to a pair of chairs. “You’ll want to be in high spirits tomorrow.”
With a scoff Anthony flopped into a seat, looking utterly exhausted. “Ah yes, thank you for reminding me. It shall be my duty to make sure everyone has the merriest of times.”
Benedict sat beside him, assessing his clipped tone. After a moment, he queried gently. “You’ve never much cared for the holiday, have you? At least not since we were young.”
Anthony scowled, spine straightening as he tugged at his waistcoat. “I’m afraid my energies were demanded elsewhere. It may be a special day but it does not mean the accounts don’t need balancing, nor that the staff have no questions, the tenants no needs…”
Benedict leaned forward imploringly. “Anthony, it’s not about relinquishing responsibility. It’s an inducement to recognize and cherish the good in the world. The good in all of us. Charity, mercy, benevolence. To draw family together and think back on the memories of Christmases past.”
They met each other’s gaze, dark eyes searing into pale blue. Anthony knew his brother meant well, but his cheerful eccentricity could be rather aggravating at times. Did he not see how they had failed to be together this year? That the first Christmas in his son’s memory would be spent in a sickbed? Did Benedict not remember the shadows that had darkened their past?
He stared off, falling back into his somber musings. “I wonder if I have had more unhappy Christmases than happy ones.”
“You haven’t,” came the gentle reply. He turned and found his brother smirking confidently. “And I know because I’ve shared them all with you. Except for the two before I arrived and I have no doubt you enjoyed those very much, being the apple of Mother and Father’s eyes.”
That elicited a laugh from the elder.
Benedict grinned. “You must remember Mrs. Wiggin’s plum pudding?”
All at once the memory came flooding back and Anthony could practically taste it. His eyes lit with recognition. “We hid in the butler’s pantry and waited for her to soak it in brandy, then ate an entire half. Mother was livid.”
His brother chuckled. “I’d say it was our first time sharing a drink together.”
A smile broke across Anthony’s face. “I remember Father paid the poor woman a handsome bonus. Though whether it was to apologize or convince her not to beat us, I’m not sure.”
They both snickered, recalling how they had been punished and sent to their rooms, stumbling and sick but remorseless.
Benedict arched a brow. “And then Belle…”
“Oh god, Belle.” Anthony groaned.
“You can’t say Colin didn’t have the best of intentions leaving a kitten under the tree for his sisters.”
“No, but what did he expect her to do when he left her tied to it for the night? Of course she was going to climb it and destroy the entire thing.”
Stifling themselves behind their hands, they both began to laugh in earnest. It had undoubtedly been their most chaotic Christmas, with the family waking to find their grand tannenbaum lying on the drawing room floor, shredded into a pile of needles by a tiny but furious grey kitten. Their mother had wept. Their sisters had shrieked, whether out of excitement for the animal or mourning for the collateral damage to gifts, it was unclear. Their father had dragged Colin out of doors by the ear to fell a new tree which was swiftly but pitifully decorated by the harried staff. It was the most memorable introduction of a pet into their home, and was perhaps the reason Belle turned out to be the only family cat.
“That cat was an agent of chaos.” Benedict wheezed, wiping a tear.
“I know,” Anthony rolled his eyes. “I still have the scars to prove it.”
Broad smiles lingered on their faces as the laughter died away. Flashes of joy began to spring to Anthony’s mind - happy memories he had long since forgotten.
“See?” Benedict asked. “They were never perfect, but we had many happy Christmases. And you’re giving your children the same.”
Anthony looked to his sleeping son. “I believe Kate is doing the lion’s share to make pleasant memories for them.”
“Perhaps. But you have a choice in that, brother. You can choose to seek out the bright moments and join in them. You can choose to delegate. To accept help. Father managed to enjoy the season and the estate didn’t fall into ruin.”
Anthony’s brow grew stern. “Father was a greater man than I.”
“Father was a different man than you.” Benedict interjected, his tone uncharacteristically sharp. They stared at one another in a heavy silence, reading in each other’s eyes how well they both remembered their shared tragedy. They hadn’t spoken of it in years, the loss that had redefined each of their hierarchical roles in the family. The pain they had felt as they cared for their mother and siblings in the aftermath, and the rows they had fought over their differing approaches. But their judgments of one another had mellowed as they matured and now they navigated in understanding silence, separately supporting the family with their unique strengths.
“I’ve felt it too,” Benedict’s voice grew soft again as he became contemplative. “A sort of…yawning cold without him. A void in the room, especially when we all gather. It doesn’t go away.”
He looked up at Anthony who only clenched his jaw, eyes burning. Benedict continued.
“But you know, surely you know, he would want us to hold onto joy. He would want you to be there for your sons as he was for us. As he only got to be for a short while. What is the alternative? Locking yourself away in your study, focused more on business than cheer? Where will that lead?”
Anthony felt the defensiveness melting out of his frame. After years of familial judgment and pity while he hardened from a boy into a viscount too young, his instinct was to dismiss any commentary about his behavior as ill-informed ridicule. It had taken him too long to recognize that Benedict, among all his relations, was the one who sought to understand and support him. He was the sibling that had gently coaxed his heart to the surface while pursuing Kate, and the one who never blamed him for his shortcomings, despite that he jested about them. If there was anyone whom he could trust to address the needs in his tangled emotions, it was Benedict.
As if reading his thoughts, his younger brother leaned close, eyes welled with sincerity. “You don’t have to be a lonely curmudgeon. And you don’t have to pretend to be Father. He wouldn’t want you living in his shadow. He would want you to reflect his light.”
Benedict smiled and Anthony was struck by how similar he looked to their father in that moment. “Make your own traditions with your wife and your children. Build upon the best parts of the past. Don’t remain chained to the worst ones. And you know you can depend on me.”
The viscount studied his brother, feeling as if the capacity of Benedict's heart had made his own grow through proximity. He swallowed. “You…you have an uncommon way with words, Benedict. I’m grateful that you share them with me.”
The younger smiled, punching him lightly in the knee and lounging back in his chair.
“Will you do the same?” Anthony asked, raising a brow. “You’ll be a father by next Christmas.”
Benedict blushed, looking down with an irrepressible grin. Sophie had just announced their first pregnancy and the thought made him giddy in a way he could hardly contain. “I will endeavor to, yes,” he nodded. “I have no intention of spending Christmases away from Aubrey Hall. That is, if the invitation remains extended.”
“Of course it will.” Anthony smirked at him. “But we’ll have to keep an eye on the puddings once our boys are old enough to sneak down to the kitchens.”
They grinned at each other but then bolted at the sound of dry, rasping coughs across the room. Anthony sprang to Edmund’s bedside, Benedict following close behind.
“How is he?” Benedict asked as the father ran a hand over his son’s brow, rubbing the boy’s chest as his small coughs faded and he rolled over in sleep.
“I think he’s cooling down.”
“That’s good,” Benedict nodded, clasping him by the arms with assurance. “All will be well, brother. Even if we have to pile into this room to celebrate with Neddy, we’re going to have a marvelous Christmas. We’ll be together and we’ll choose to be happy.”
Anthony took a steadying breath, looking from his brother’s twinkling eyes back down to his precious son, feeling their conversation start to crystalize. Christmas could not magic away toil or grief. No amount of garlands or cakes or gifts could replace an empty seat at the dining table. But it was a window in the year, a stillness amidst the winter air and warm candlelight, when one was granted license to choose joy; when one could look at the faces of those who still gathered and relish the flavors of tradition to find moments of genuine peace and reasons for genuine hope.
Proving Benedict obnoxiously correct, that Christmas day was filled with such moments. The storm abated and Edmund rose early, full of spirit, delighting in the treats he found at the foot of his bed. The family gathered in their finery, exchanging gifts by the tree with laughter and cheer. Their dinner of beef proved as satisfactory as turkey and they contemplated making it a new Bridgerton family tradition. It was only when Anthony was tucking Edmund into bed that he realized he had not taken his walk through the wood. He had not felt the need to. With his children in his arms, his wife at his side and his brother smiling at him across the room, he knew with a certainty that he was not alone.
Advent Calendar 2022: DAY 2 (Dean)
Christmases with the love of your life, Dean Winchester.
Hop in for 25 days of Christmas and fluff.
Day 1
Tumblr media
Throughout the next year, you see Dean fairly often, given the amount of time you spend with your uncle because of your family’s situation. You don’t become friends immediately, you start off dancing around each other; being nice but not actually attempting to spend time together. The situation you’re both in is what pushes you to be more. His father drops him and Sam off every hunt that he deems too dangerous. You knew this used to occur even before you were around Bobby, but you weren’t aware it happened that frequently.
When you ask your uncle about it, his cryptic response doesn’t tell you much: “John does his best to keep the boys safe.” But even then, you see the hesitation in his eyes. So, you continue to run into Dean occasionally, sometimes you help him take care of Sam, and he appreciates it. Steadily, your trust starts to grow, yet it isn’t until one particular night that you realize the true extent of your bond.
The snow covering the ground crunches beneath someone’s steps. The blizzard stopped a few hours ago, it’s so cold outside that you can’t stop the shivers, yet you refuse to go back inside the house. There’s too much going on inside your head for you to properly focus on the festivities. The Winchesters are back again this Christmas, and while you’re glad you’re not alone with Bobby in the uncomfortable silences that have been happening recently, you’re not in the mood to drink punch and laugh. One look at John and his children makes you realize what you don’t have.
“What are you doing here? It’s freezing,” Dean’s voice doesn’t surprise you. You knew he was bound to follow.
“I’m just thinking,” you murmur as he sits beside you.
He hums, “about what?” And for the first time since your family became a mess, you decide to confide in someone.
Day 3
Hi Everyone...for Christmas other than the Secret Santa Project, I plan on doing *drumroll please*...A Christma Oneshot with Henry V!!!
Initially, it was going to be a Hallmark Movie Inspired thing with Modern! Herny V. But nothing was growing out of that the more I thought on it...then I got an idea...to make it a Cinderella Story with a ball taking place on Christmas Eve!!!
Tumblr media
Thinking of that, two things I am torn between, and I need y'alls help to decide...should it be in the period of the medieval era or in modern times with Modern! Henry V?
Secret Santa
Summary: What you thought would be the worst Christmas of all time, turned out to become quite the opposite…
Warnings: language if you squint, making out and FLUFF<3
A/n: I said i’d post this beginning of December, but I kept forgetting and then it was so close to be Christmas. So I just waited a few more days. I hope you like it and if you think it’s cringy… I’m sorry:) Merry Christmas!! I hope you have amazing holidays <3
“I’m sorry honey. But this is a very important meeting” your mom tried to explain with a motherly look on her face.
You couldn’t hold back your tears anymore.
“Who schedules a meeting around Christmas?! You just can’t be serious. Tell me it’s a joke.”
They were joking right? They didn’t just tell you that they gonna leave two days before Christmas to attend a business meeting in Washington.
“Y/n Christmas is just a day like any other day. Yes, it’s unfortunate this year but who do you think pays for our house? Food? Vacation? Investors like Luke Montgomery. So if you want a roof over your head and food on the table, get it together and stop complaining. We’ll leave you some money so you can order food.” Your dad left the room. You rolled your eyes and tried to suck your tears back up.
He was wrong. Christmas isn’t like any other day at all. Christmas was the only time where your parents would be home, relaxed and no business talk AT ALL. It would be all happy family and it meant everything to you, always has. You were aware that your parents work hard to give you this lifestyle, but honestly you didn’t even care about all those materialistic things. Of course it’s nice to be financially stable and live a certain luxury. You wouldn’t consider you and your family as super kooks. But you were doing fine. But they could put you in a barn and you’d be just as happy, as long as you weren’t alone.
“Honey we will celebrate New Years twice as big to make up for the missing Christmas ok? “
Your mom opened her arms and pulled you into a hug. You hesitated but hugged her back.
“It’s not the same mom. Not even close. I don’t care about New Years”
„I‘m sorry honey. It will be fun, I promise“
Your mom wiped away your tears and gave you a warm smile, before following your dad.
Christmas was in two days and your parents just left for the airport. You faked a smile and convinced your mom you’d be ok. Even tho this was just terrible.
You closed the front door and let out a deep sigh. You were so angry and frustrated so you decided to clear your head and go to the country club. Topper would for sure be there. You and Topper have been childhood friends since forever.
Walking in, you immediately heard the familiar voice of Topper Thornton.
“Hey y/n! Come here!” He waved you over.
You made your way over to the table where he was sitting with Kelce. Drinks on the table.
Your bad mood must’ve been obvious because Kelce immediately made a comment.
“Damn what’s up with you? Where is your holly jolly Christmas mood?”
“Yeah. Shouldn’t you annoy everyone with cheesy Christmas songs already?“ Topper added.
You rolled your eyes and crossed your arms.
“No holly jolly me this year… my parents just left. They won’t be home for Christmas.”
“What?! You love Christmas.” Topper said tilting his head.
“Yeah no shit Sherlock! Why do you think I’m in a fucking bad mood”
You didn’t mean to snap at him like that, but your emotions overcame you.
“Woah easy there grinch” Kelce threw is hands up in defense.
“I’m sorry. I- I’m really upset about this” you let your hands drop and picked at your nails.
“I know. Come here.“ Topper got up and came closer.
He pulled you into a hug. And a tear rolled down your cheek.
“I would make you celebrate with me and my family but we’re leaving for Florida tonight”
“No it’s ok. I’ll just order some food and bake cookies or something like that“ you sniffled.
Both boys gave you a soft smile and you haven’t noticed Rafe walking in. Who was now standing next to you. Grumpy looking as always.
You didn’t know what to think about him. He didn’t talk much to you and you were sure he didn’t like you. Just tolerated you because you were friends with Topper. He was just always there. Making sarcastic comments and sometimes giving you a hard time.
When you felt his presents you faced him. Meeting his eyes and immediately wiped away the tears on your cheeks.
“Anyway. I’ll go now. I hope you have fun in Florida Top”
You turned around to leave.
“Yeah. I’ll call you y/n” Top said.
You nodded.
“Bye Kelce” you waved at him.
“Bye y/n. Merry Christmas…” he said, genuinely trying to lighten your mood.
“Yeah, Merry Christmas” you chuckled and sighed deeply. Then you left.
Rafe watched you walk away until he sat down. Joining his friends.
“What’s up with her?” He asked dry.
“Her parents won’t be home for Christmas this year. She’ll be alone and is really upset about that. Sucks. Her parents are barely home anyway.” Top explained.
Rafe sat silent for a few seconds.
“She’ll get over it” he said and poured himself a drink.
Christmas Eve:
You were laying in bed until 4pm before you motivated yourself to get up, just to go downstairs to lay on the couch some more. Wrapping yourself in blankets and realising there wasn’t even a Christmas tree this year.
This was definitely the worst Christmas ever. Even that one time you had to spend Christmas in the hospital was better than this. You had a really bad appendicitis and had to get surgery. But your parents came to visit and spent time with you, watching movies in your room.
You forced yourself to watch some Christmas movies and then decided to order a pizza when it got late. You were watching “home alone” when the doorbell rang, you got up, opened the door and payed the pizza guy.
“Merry Christmas” he said smiling
“Merry Christmas” you replied with a forced smile.
You stood on the porch for a minute when you noticed a small box sitting on the porch bench. You were confused for a second and looked around if you could see anyone near. You picked it up and the tag on it said “Merry Christmas y/n”
Nothing else. You didn’t know who it could be from. It’s not your parents, obviously. You got your Christmas present early from them, it’s gonna be a trip to California.
It’s not from your friends either because you all agreed to just throw money together and go on a trip, instead of buying each other gifts.
The only explanation you had was that Topper maybe wanted to surprise you and told someone to drop this off.
You stopped the thinking and took it inside. You set the pizza on the counter and opened the gift. It was a bracelet with a deer charm on it. It was absolutely beautiful. You held it on front of your face to look at it closer. It was shiny and the little dots on the deers back were little diamonds.
“A deer?” You mumbled to yourself. You couldn’t wrap your head around the deer charm but it made you smile anyway. This is by far the most beautiful piece of jewellery you own and it definitely made your night better. But you were intrigued to find out who it was from, it had to be Topper.
You sat back on the couch and ate your pizza, the rest of the night went by fast and you ended up passing out on the couch, cuddled up and TV still running.
You woke up by the sound of your phone ringing. Whining you grabbed your phone and picked up the call.
“Merry Christmas!!” Toppers voice echoed through your head.
“Merry Christmas Top” you mumbled with closed eyes.
“How’s the mood sleepy head?”
You realised he was on FaceTime and you opened your eyes.
“It’s fine. How is Florida?”
“Oh it’s nice yk, warm”
“Yeah, hey Top?”
“Mhm?”
“Did you give this to me?”
You grabbed the bracelet from the coffee table in front of you and held it into the camera.
You didn’t wanna put it on yet, not before you 100% knew who it was from.
Topper squinted his eyes to have a better look and held his screen closer to his face.
“No? I was gonna bring you something from Florida” he shook his head.
“You don’t know who it’s from?” he added.
“No. It was sitting on the bench on our porch last night. The tag said “Merry Christmas y/n”
“But not who it’s from?”
“No.”
“Hmm. Your secret lover must be some kind of sugar daddy, because that is a really fucking expensive bracelet”
You held it close to your face once more, dangling it in front of your eyes.
“What’s the charm on it?”
“A deer”
“A deer?”
“Yeah”
“I have no clue y/n”
You let out a sigh.
“I think I’ll get a coffee from the new coffee shop and make some pancakes” you said with a soft smile.
“Sounds good. Keep me updated with the Bambi bracelet yeah?”
“Will do. Bye Top. Tell your parents Merry Christmas.”
“I will. Bye y/n”
You hung up and put your phone and the bracelet back on the coffe table.
You got up, stretched and that’s when it suddenly hit you. Bambi bracelet? You immediately had to sit down again.
Bambi was the nickname Rafe gave you a long time ago. But no, this couldn’t be. You physically tried to shake the thought out of your head.
There has to be another explanation. It can’t be from him.
You thought about it for a few more minutes, but Rafe was without a doubt the only person that calles you Bambi. You never understood why but it didn’t really bother you.
And that would be the only explanation for the charm of a deer. It wasn’t like a deer was your favourite animal or Bambi your favourite movie. It just wouldn’t make sense. But there is absolutely no way, Rafe wouldn’t do that. Not for you. He didn’t even like you.
While you got ready to leave the house to get some coffee, you thought about it so much that it gave you a headache. You kept repeating in your head “It’s not from Rafe” All of this made you realise that you secretly wished it was from Rafe.
When you opened the door, the cold air hit you and it felt amazing, almost blowing all those thoughts out of your mind.
You got into your jeep and drove off, “Santa baby” blasting through your speakers.
You parked in front of the shop, got out and walked over to the front door. That’s when you saw Rafe Cameron in front of the shop, leaning on his truck, looking at his phone.
Your heart started racing. Should I ask him? If it really wasn’t him, that would be so embarrassing.
You went back and forth in your own head until you finally found the courage to just go for it. The curiosity was just too big.
You walked up to him.
“Hey Rafe” you said smiling.
He looked up for a second, then looked back down at his phone.
“Hey” he said dry.
“Merry Christmas” you said friendly.
“Merry Christmas” he replied, not looking up from his phone.
He was a douche but he looked absolutely stunning, his hair parting in the middle, falling onto his forehead and wearing a button up that hugged his biceps tightly.
You stood there awkwardly for a while, just looking at him and thinking about a good way to bring up the gift.
“I- last-did you “
You stumbled over your words and Rafe looked up at you confused. He raised one eyebrow when you paused your stuttering to start over.
“Did you put a gift for me on my porch on Christmas Eve?”
“No? Why the hell would I?” He tilted his head and shoved his phone into his pocket.
“Are you sure? It’s a bracelet with a deer charm on it.”
You started to feel stupid.
“Well, must be from another lover because it wasn’t me” he said cold, staring into your eyes.
“Right…” you whispered.
You looked at your feet, feeling embarrassed.
“But-“
“Jesus Christ. Just go order your coffee Bambi!”
Rafes eyes widend and he started blushing when he realised what he just said.
“It was you!” You brought out in a high pitched voice. Eyes big and body filled with excitement.
He swallowed and clenched his jaw before talking to you again.
“Alright. Just don’t make a big deal out of it ok? I just didn’t wanna listen to you saying how this was the worst Christmas ever over and over again.” he said in a low voice, almost a whisper, like he didn’t want anybody to hear.
A huge smile crept on your face and you looked at him in awe.
“You didn’t have to Rafe” you said quietly and made a few steps towards him.
“Whatever” he tried brushing it off.
“Can I hug you?”
Before he could answer you wrapped your arms around his neck and pulled him close. It took him a few seconds but surprisingly he started to wrap his arms around your waist and squeezed you tightly. He took a deep breath.
Why did that feel so right? He didn’t let go until you did.
You pulled away just enough to look at him, letting your hands glide down his body, stopping at his chest.
He gave you his signature grin and stared into your eyes. His hands still on your waist.
The moment was interrupted when Rose stepped out of the shop, holding two coffe trays in her hands.
“Rafe. Come take one” she commanded.
You let go of him and he walked over and took one of the trays from Rose.
“Y/n! Merry Christmas.” She cheered when she saw you.
“Merry Christmas Rose” you smiled softly.
Rose got into the passenger seat and Rafe handed her the other tray he was holding.
He closed the door and started walking around his car but stopped to walk towards you, pulling you in with one hand around your waist and placed a kiss on your cheek. Without another word he got into his truck and drove off.
Your cheeks were burning and suddenly you didn’t feel cold anymore. Did that really just happen?
You ordered your coffee and drove back home.
While making some pancakes you could still feel his hands on you and kept smiling to yourself. The way he looked at you made your legs feel like jello. You debated if you should call Topper and tell him, but you decided not to.
You spent the day exactly like yesterday. Watching movies, laying on the couch. It was a lonely Christmas, but definitely surprising.
„His heart grew three sizes that day“ you repeated after the narrator. Then your doorbell rang.
You opened the door and almost verbally gasped when you saw the face you’ve been thinking about all day. He stood there, hands in his pockets, hair looking perfect and looking at you in a way that only Rafe Cameron could.
“Rafe?” you said more to yourself than him.
You were so confused by his appearance that you just stood there, holding the door.
“Are you gonna let me in or is there a secret password?” he said sarcastically.
“Oh yeah sorry, come in” you replied awkwardly and stepped out of the doorframe. He walked in and you closed the door.
You smiled at him and waited for him to say something.
“I just thought you needed company on Christmas day, since you’ve been alone yesterday” he said like it’s obvious and shrug his shoulders.
Your eyes lit up at his explanation. “Yeah i’d love that” you replied smiling.
“I mean, if you have plans I can-“
“No please stay” you cut him off and he grinned.
He stepped a little closer. “So what were you up to?”
“Just watching movies” you said quietly because him being closer made you nervous.
“Let’s go then” she smiled and stared into your eyes.
You made your way over to the couch. He sat on one end you and you on the other. You threw him a blanket and put on another Christmas movie. You guys giggled, had some snacks and Rafe complained about the cheesiness of all the movies.
You caught yourself staring at him, admiring him. He looked so mesmerising and you imagined yourself laying in his arms, you never thought you would but he didn’t seem scary at all anymore. You imagined what it would feel like to have his huge arms wrapped around you, holding you tight.
“I know yout staring” he said grinning, eyes still focused on the TV.
You started blushing and took your gaze off him quickly. Rafe chuckled and then turned his head to look at you. Your eyes met his. You let your eyes wander from his to his body and back to his eyes.
“Come here” he lifted his blanket.
Your heart made a jump and you crawled onto him. His big arms wrapped around you and you rested your head on his chest. You could hear his fasted heartbeat. You took a deep breath. He smelled so good, his cologne was addicting.
You continued watching the movie cuddled up and he started to run his hand through your hair. It made you feel all warm inside and sent a shiver through your spine. Why was he so nice to you out of the sudden?
“Rafe I’m confused” you almost whispered.
“About what?” He whispered back.
“This”
“What confuses you?”
You sat up to look at him.
“I thought you didn’t like me” you said softly.
“Well you thought wrong” a grin appearing on his perfect face.
“Why didn’t you say anything?” you questioned.
“Why didn’t YOU say anything?” He replied shrugging his shoulders.
“Because I was sure you were gonna reject me”
“There you go. There is your answer” his hand reached up and he gently tugged a strand of hair behind your ear. You reached for his wrist and ran your fingers over it and down his forearm. His gaze shifted to the bracelet that was wrapped around your wrist. He grabbed your wrist with his other hand and looked at it closer.
“Do you like it?” he whispered smiling, looking at you.
“I love it.” You smiled back.
He pulled you closer to him by your wrist until you hovered over him. Hands placed on each side of his head. You felt his hands on your waist, giving it a squeeze. You looked at his perfect lips and finally bent down to kiss him. He immediately kissed you back and his soft lips made your heart race. Your lips moved in perfect sync and it felt like this was meant to be. You unconsciously moved closer and gently pushed your knee between his legs, which made him let out a low grunt. That sound made heat travel to your core. He ran his big hands softly under your shirt, running his fingers along your sides and over your back. He smiled into the kiss when he realised that you weren’t wearing a bra.
That’s when you suddenly pulled away.
“Are you hungry?” You said out of breath, lips plump from the make out.
“Not for food” his eyes were dark and a wide grin crept on his face.
You cleared your throat and could feel yourself blushing.
“Not even cookies?” your voice cracked.
Rafe scanned your face and realised you weren’t sure of this anymore. He took one hand off your waist and cupped your cheek, running his thumb over it, smiling at you softly.
“You wanna bake some?” he asked.
You nodded and got off him. Both of you got up. You bit your lip and got nervous. What if he’s pissed now?
“I-I’m sorry. It’s not that I don’t want to. I just-“
“You don’t need to explain yourself” he grabbed your wrist and pulled you into him a little more rough than he intended to.
“That’s not what I came for” he smiled softly.
You leaned against his chest, squishing your face against it. He wrapped both arms around you and placed a kiss on top of your head. You looked up at him and he gulped.
“Oh before I forget. What’s with my nickname? Why Bambi?” You asked genuinely curious.
“You do this thing with you eyes. It makes me all nervous and shit.”
“What thing?”
Instead of answering he ignored you and just grabbed your face with both of his hands and kissed you. You didn’t complain and didn’t bother asking again.
You made your way to the kitchen, put on a Christmas playlist and started baking. You laughed a lot and had a great time. You never knew Rafe could be that way.
He was standing on the opposite side of the counter, looking at the recipe once more while you were mixing some ingredients in the bowl.
Your favourite song came on (Happy Xmas by John Lennon) and you gasped, your eyes lit up and you dropped the whisk.
“What?” Rafe looked at you confused.
“That my favourite song!” You squealed, big smile on your face.
He giggled at your reaction and shook his head.
“Let’s dance!” You cheered.
“Hell no.” He chuckled and looked back down at the recipe.
“Oh come on. Please?” You pouted and stared into his eyes.
“Fuck” he let out in a groan.
“That’s what I meant! You can’t look at me like that” he sighed and ran his hand through his hair.
You bit your lip, smiling, still holding eye contact.
“Fine c’mere” he held his hand out for you.
You quickly ran around the counter and took his hand, he pulled you in, placing his other hand on your waist. You placed your other hand on his biceps.
You were staring into each other’s eyes, swaying to the music. It felt like a dream.
“You know, this isn’t the worst Christmas at all.” You confessed.
“Yeah. Could’ve been worse for you than dancing THE Rafe Cameron”
You rolled your eyes and he laughed at his own comment.
Then he spun you around and when he pulled you back in, he crushed his lips on yours. You wrapped your arms around his neck, pushing yourself as close to him as possible and Rafe slung his arms around you once again.
You both pulled away to look at each other.
“What was on your wish list this year?” You asked, hands sliding down to his chest.
He grabbed your face, softly running his thumb over your lips.
“You”
You looked at him in awe.
“That was so cheesy”
He broke into a grin.
“I know” he chuckled and placed his lips on yours once more.
One More Sleep pt.2
batboys x reader
(A/N): Here's part 2! [Edit: find pt. 1 here.] Somehow I managed to get Steph and Cass done today so the series is now complete. If the characterization is off, I apologize; I've never written for either of them much before. I hope everyone who celebrates is having a lovely Christmas and that you all enjoy!
This one is dedicated to @glorified-red, who it an absolutely amazing human being and one I am privileged to know. Thank you for your encouragement, qamar, and I hope this live up to your expectations.
total wc: ~1900
warnings: non-graphic references to injury, explicit mentions of Christmas
~~
Tim Drake:
wc: ~500
Tim is way more awake at 2am on Christmas morning than he has any right to be, especially after an undercover mission overseas. It’s not even caffeine awake, he just passed out—the sleep kind, not the unconscious kind—on the plane home after debrief and took a five hour nap.
When he pushes open the door to the apartment he lives in with you, the lights are on. It takes him a second to find you under all the blankets; you’re scrolling halfheartedly through what he thinks is tumblr. He didn’t expect you to be up this late but a part of him warms at the fact that you stayed up anyway. You don’t even react to him until he’s right next to you which means you’re exhausted, but you do notice before he says anything because he’s suddenly on the couch next to you and wrapped in your arms and so many blankets.
“I missed you,” Tim says into the junction where your shoulder meets your neck. The grip around his shoulders tightens.
“I missed you too, sweetheart.”
Tim nestles his face one more time into your shoulder before he lets go.
“You didn’t have to stay up for me.”
“I know,” you tell him, and there’s a fond smile on your face that you only ever make for him. “But I wanted to.”
You cup his face so you can press a kiss to his cheekbone and then run your hands quickly through his hair.
“Now go put on pjs and brush your teeth so we can watch a movie together before we go to bed.”
Tim isn’t going to argue. A movie with you sounds perfect, even if you’re both tired and he’s not sure you’ll stay awake through the whole thing.
“Hallmark movie?” Tim asks.
“Of course. What do you take me for?”
You head back to the couch as he heads to the bedroom and by the time he comes back in his fuzzy Christmas pants, you’ve narrowed it down to two.
“Fake dating or lesbian friends to lovers?” you ask as he sits down next to you.
“The gay one. What do you take me for?” he teases back, shuffling so he can be squished next to you and likewise stretch his legs out on the ottoman.
You huff a laugh and click on the movie, quickly turning the volume down before the Netflix intro can make the two of you cringe and then back up again once the movie starts. He links your hands together over your thighs. Your pjs are navy and his are red, but they both have little Santas printed on them. You bought them together during a black friday sale.
You hand him the remote and Tim dips his head onto your shoulder. This is what hallmark movies call content, he thinks.
By the time the opening credits fade away to the movie itself, Tim can feel your breaths even out. He doesn’t mind; he’s fallen asleep on you during movies plenty of times. He’ll move after this movie’s over, Tim decides. Then he’ll carry you to the bedroom and go to bed.
He’s asleep by the time the movie protagonist decides she does, in fact, enjoy time in her small hometown.
Damian Wayne:
wc: ~550
Damian is limping slightly when he pushes open the front door. It’s nearing 3 o’clock—2:46a.m. by the last check of his watch—and he’s brought eight new stitches, a sprained knee, and bruised ribs home with him for Christmas. Damian knows you’re asleep, you texted him hours ago before you went to bed. He was on a plane, heading back from Europe at the time, getting patched up. He didn’t tell you that part in his response, but you’ll probably ask him something later that will make him reveal it anyway and he’ll submit to your concerned questioning as he always does. His only hope is that it won’t be in the middle of the manor living room or he’ll be supplying a bunch of nosy siblings with teasing ammunition they’ll use for months.
The set of electric candles that live on the coffee table are still on, so Damian can see as he toes off his boots and drops his keys on the side table. His winter coat and hat are put up on the coat hanger before he ventures further into the apartment.
There’s a gift on the coffee table. Damian doesn’t see it until he moves to turn the candles off, but it’s wrapped in brown paper and decorated with a gift tag that reads “ameli” and a green bow. He sits on the arm of the couch—if he sits all the way down, he’s not sure he’ll get up: he’s exhausted—and turns on a lamp before turning off the candles. In the lamp light, the Christmas tree is more visible, and he can see your handiwork in the presents underneath, waiting for the day after christmas, a time for just the two of you.
When he opens the present, it’s actually two things. The first one is small and in a black tie pouch and he puts it in his pocket to open the bigger thing. It’s a knee brace, a new one. He’s been needing one for a few weeks now, a to-do list item living at the back of his mind that he never actually got to. You texted one of his brothers (Dick he assumes; the two of you get along very well) because you knew something was wrong, he realizes. He can’t even bring himself to dread the concerned appraisal he knows for sure he’ll be getting early in the morning.
He doesn’t remember the second thing until he’s changing into his pajamas. They were waiting for him when he stepped into the bathroom to brush his teeth. The bag is in the pocket of the jeans he’s half-heartedly folded and put on the sink. It’s a necklace, a simple gold chain with a vertical bar charm. In the bright bathroom lighting, he can see an engraving in the gold. It reads “hayati” in Arabic letters. حياتي. My life. The necklace, made of material that doesn’t tarnish, sits so that the charm hides just underneath his shirt collar, private only for him.
Stitches covered, ribs taped, and new brace on, Damian lifts the edge of the weighted blanket to slide into bed. You’re laying on your side, facing him. Damian moves a piece of hair out of your face.
“Merry Christmas, habibi,” he whispers, love coloring his voice. You move only to rest your head against his chest.
Cassandra Cain:
wc: ~350
When Cass steps off the Wayne Enterprises jet, she’s expecting the black car waiting for her. She’s not expecting it to be your car. And she’s definitely not expecting to see you leaning against it, what she assumes is a cup of coffee in a Black Bat to-go mug in one gloved hand and your phone in the other. Last check of her own phone—the lock screen is a picture Duke took of the two of you at the manor during the most recent movie night you attended together—it’s 1:12am. She assumes you haven’t been standing outside long. It’s in the low double digits temperature-wise outside and Cass is cold even in her winter coat.
You slide your phone into your pocket and wave at her, an excited smile on your face. Cass smiles back without thinking and returns your wave with the hand holding her rolling suitcase. Her other hand is clad in a wrist brace and holding a Christmas bag.
“Merry Christmas, beautiful,” you say to her once she’s close to you, “I’m glad you’re home safe.” You reach for her suitcase and she concedes without argument, passing it over.
“Me too. Merry Christmas.” Cass circles the car to stand at the passenger door, but she watches you put her suitcase in the trunk even though the cold is slowly stripping the feeling from her nose.
You slam the trunk shut and wave to her before heading for the driver’s side. Cass opens her door as you do and you close your door and start the car in quick succession so it’ll warm up before you start heading home. Cass just watches. There’s something fascinating to her about your body language when she’s around. Cass knows a lot of languages. Body language is the only one that rarely lies, and she sees your love for her in every move you make. You turn to look at her, but you don’t say anything. There’s a warmth in her chest that Cass thinks has little to do with the warm air coming through the vents.
I love you, Cass says to you in sign language.
Your lips curl up in the self-conscious smile you make when she says sweet things out of nowhere. Cass feels her heart skip a beat at your response.
Thank you for choosing me.
Stephanie Brown:
wc: ~400
Stephanie can’t stifle the smile on her face as her key turns silently in the lock. She’s early. Not by much, when compared to a weeklong mission—only about 4 hours—but it’s early enough that she knows you’re awake which means she gets to see you on Christmas Eve after all.
You don’t look up as the door opens; there’s a hallmark movie playing on your TV and from what Steph can tell, you’re somewhere in the middle of it. It must not be very good, though because you’re also looking at your phone, scrolling through instagram. Steph leans over the couch to grab your phone, and you shriek and stand up as you turn around. Only vigilante reflexes stop your head from colliding with hers.
“Steph! You’re early!”
You scramble over the couch to crush her in a hug, and Stephanie feels the heaviness of the mission slide off of her even as her ribs creak.
So worth it.
After a week of nothing but being on guard and a general lack of safety, she squeezes you right back. Even when you let up on the squeezing she doesn’t let go, her head resting in the crook of your neck. She’s grateful, not for the first time, that you seem to be able to read her mind, and you don’t let go until she does.
Steph cups your face and pulls you into a kiss.
“Happy Christmas Eve, baby,” she says as she pulls away.
You sneak another peck to her lips, her cheek, her jawbone.
“I missed you,” you tell her, pressing your forehead to hers. Steph wraps her hands around your wrists where your hands are cradling her face.
“We have time to make cookies,” you continue, your forehead still pressed to hers. Steph can’t see the smile on your face but she knows it’s there. She pulls away and sure enough her favorite smile in the world is looking back at her.
“Oh heck yeah, let’s do it. And we’ll take some to the manor tomorrow so Jason can taste our sweet success.” You snort out a laugh.
“Duh, obviously. Okay first, you need Christmas pajamas. And then you preheat the oven. I’ll get the ingredients out and get the butter softened.”
“Sir yes sir,” Steph teases. “Matching Christmas pajamas coming right up.”
Steph almost gets all the way to the bedroom before she remembers.
“And don’t forget to leave us extra chocolate chips!”
“Already done!”
“I knew you loved me,” Steph calls back. She can hear your laugh from inside the bedroom.
“Always.”
It’s the most wonderful time of the year…{1}
Tumblr media
{This wasn’t supposed to be happening right now, Chris Smith had been all set to leave his trailer and head out into the night for his date, but when Adrian Chase comes knocking at the door there is always trouble.
Bored with patrolling around Evergreen Adrian knew exactly where to go, hang out with his bff at his place only things don’t go to plan, and next thing he knows he’s offering to decorate Peacemakers trailer for the holiday season but there is a small catch attached.
There were bad ideas and then there was this one stupidly agreeing to go out with a work friend, leaving you zoning out of the conversation because instead you were thinking of someone else the whole time, but then a chance falls into your lap to win back the night only it’s hanging out with the very last person you wanted to see right now.}
Part one begins under the cut
“Every time a bell rings, an angel gets his wings.”
Snorting to himself when he hears his phone chime, Christopher Smith grabs said item from beside him on the couch, whilst currently only half watching the TV because he was too busy pregaming before heading out for the night.
Off later to meet a hot blonde at one of the many local bars around here in Evergreen, with the woman in question causing a wicked grin to appear on his face, the message she had just sent him was very telling of how things were going to go down and this pleased him greatly.
Sure Chris had obvious commitments but even someone like Peacemaker needed a break, some time to just kick back and have fun, oh and he definitely was going to be getting laid tonight it was absolutely in the bag.
Finishing off his beer in one long gulp, Chris contemplates the season and that one holiday he was learning to enjoy again, courtesy of his team mates in the task force the family that he definitely hadn’t asked for.
…but were in fact a huge step up from the one that he had been born into instead.
Although there was no way that he was ever gonna wear a freaking Christmas sweater, especially the kind of ones that goofball Adrian sourced, which somehow actually pleased Harcourt but Chris didn’t need that kind of motivation he was playing the long game with his teammate.
Besides Chris had another blonde to amuse himself with tonight anyway, wearing his finest band tee shirt that showed off all the muscles he kept in check, whilst several rubbers quietly occupied his pants pocket because he was always protecting himself and others around him.
Everything was set and he was already sensing that tonight was gonna be fucking awesome, even if someone did call him with an emergency he would just put it to voice message, because it was very important that he got some self care and receiving head was pretty high up on that list.
With a smirk on his face Chris stands up from the couch, heading towards the fridge for another beer or two, might as well continue with the good mood he was encountering because absolutely nothing could mess it up right now…
Seeing zero civilians in the surrounding area Vigilante rushes across the path, head down he stealthily crosses over onto the grass, his final destination was up ahead despite being told never to turn up there unannounced again here he was.
Standing outside of his bff’s trailer which still had lights on thankfully, yet there was a severe lack of any Christmas cheer but Vigilante knew exactly how to change all of that, even though Harcourt his boss currently assumed that he was actually patrolling right now.
With his well known flourish Vigilante performs the secret knock, the one that he knew Chris would instantly know because what were best friends for, too busy to hang out with for the rest of the evening…yeah right that wasn’t going to happen.
Hearing noise from inside of the trailer causes Vigilante only to knock louder, he will be heard he decides to himself all the while quickly readjusting his red Santa hat, deciding that he looked festive as fuck and that was all what mattered right this second.
To say that Vigilante was excited for Christmas was an understatement, seeing how he would be spending time between both his parents, so naturally double the presents because he was still a child of divorce and they both always liked to put out on the gifting front.
Of course it wouldn’t actually be Vigilante attending said holiday gatherings, but he would be there in spirit because Adrian was apparently the “childish idiot”, but according to local news however Vigilante was likened to somewhere between a monster and a psychopath.
Hitting his hand palm flat on the front door Adrian smacks it as hard as he can, now wasn’t the time to be thinking about his family or what was left of it, he was here to see Chris and help him get into the festive spirit because clearly he was hopeless.
Taking a deep calming breath then slowly finishing off his latest beer, Chris gives Eagly his pet eagle and true best friend a look whilst debating whether to even open the door, because no one should be here especially not the bane of his life that was Adrian Chase.
When he hears his phone start ringing Chris curses but then finally bites the bullet, no way would he be inviting the guy in through his door because if he did Adrian would never leave, plus after the last time that he was left here alone it wasn’t going to happen again not a chance.
Unlocking the door has Chris rearranging his features until they fall back into their current position, causing the fully suited Vigilante in front of him to take a cautious step back, good he looked as pissed as he felt right now so this was gonna be very easy.
“What are you doing here Adrian, and what’s with the hat?” Chris asks with a snort folding his thick arms in front of his wide chest, waiting for the lies to fall out of his team mates mouth.
“First off it’s the most wonderful time of the year so that’s why I’m wearing this hat, and secondly I got bored patrolling so here I am ready to hangout.” Adrian expresses all of this with his gloved hands and annoying voice.
“I’m busy-“
“Can’t I just stay for a little while?” Adrian cuts off Chris in a pouty voice, whilst somehow simultaneously sneaking past him into the trailer.
“After what happened the last time!” Chris retorts back, slamming his front door in glaringly obvious annoyance, the kind that is somehow wasted on Adrian.
“The fire was put out eventually-“
“I had told you not to use my damn microwave but that doesn’t even matter right now so just get out!” Chris demands in a firm voice but even this doesn’t get a response from Adrian, who was too busy glancing around and shaking his head from side to side.
“I wanted popcorn for the movie but dude the more important question right now, is where the hell are all of your decorations?” Questions Adrian taking off his hat and mask, to reveal a red and confused face, then quickly placing his signature glasses back on so he could see again.
“Under my bed and in the bathroom because storage is shitty in this place, but look I will get around to eventually-“
“Hey, I can totally decorate for you!” Adrian announces with a boyish grin on his face as he adds “Lets drink some beers together and then I could totally have this place looking like christmas vomited all over it.”
“No way-“
“Oh please dude!” Adrian begs pulling a face that makes Chris roll his eyes but then nod resignedly, because even if he did leave his trailer the guy in front of him, would somehow try to break back in which wasn’t something he needed right now.
“I’m not leaving you here alone though.” Chris declares hurriedly, whilst leaning against the tiny kitchen counter, wondering who the hell he could get round here to watch Adrian.
The guy who was currently trying and failing to remove his thick padded gloves, still wearing his uniform the one for his full time job where people recognised him from the TV, Vigilante the freak show that even the cops had given up on…but not Chris it seemed.
“What’s the worse that could happen if you leave me here alone?” Adrian announces in a goofy voice, whilst crashing onto Chris’ couch like he practically lived here, which was sort of true.
“Fuck this! I’m calling Harcourt-“
“No way!” Shouts Adrian standing up again quickly from the couch, almost dropping his newly removed gloves in the process but he chucks them behind him instead.
“Well okay then if not Harcourt.” Begins Chris with a playful grin and a vague plan as he adds “ I know exactly who I should be calling right now.”
“Or better yet just cancel this supposed date and hang out with yours truly.” Adrian nods like it was the only answer, but the thought only causes Chris to grind his teeth together in annoyance.
“How did you know-“
“I overheard Harcourt talking to Adebayo about it earlier.” Adrian shrugs as if this was sufficient enough information about office gossip.
“Harcourt was talking about me?” Chris questions with a smile on his face, despite the situation he currently found himself in.
“Nothing positive was said I’m afraid dude-“
“Harcourt could only ever dream of hooking up with me!” Chris announces in both an angry and desperate voice, that even he can hear sounded pretty pathetic.
“This is why I would never ever get involved with someone I work with!” Adrian announces placing his hands behind his head, like he had just solved all of the world’s problems single handedly.
“You are so full of bullshit!” Laughs Chris whilst causing his friend’s face to slip as he asks indulgently “So there isn’t a certain nurse who you would wanna hook up with in the vigilante-mobile?”
“That was just a passing out loud thought-“
“Well it kind of sounded like you had thought about it a lot and also very vigorously as well I bet!” Snorts Chris whilst performing the action for jerking off, at the same time that a chuckle escapes from his lips.
“Don’t bring up the nurse right now!” Adrian deflects as he explains “When in fact it’s you who actually has someone from work you want to pound-“
“I wouldn’t let Harcourt hear you talking about her like that.” Chris shrugs definitely wishing that he hadn’t answered the door earlier, he could’ve had another beer by now instead of all this bullshit.
“You’ve still got it so bad dude-“
“Fuck you I’m going out!” Chris demands angrily but then states “ Only I have to make a call real quick so just stay here.”
“That’s exactly what I want to do bro!” Adrian chuckles to himself, quickly picking up one of the unopened beers off the messy coffee table, whilst Chris heads off in search of his phone yet again.
Staring off into the distance you briefly wonder what it was you had done in a past life to even deserve this? To paraphrase you currently wished that you were somewhere other than here, absolutely anywhere else to be honest than in this exact predicament right now.
Hearing a male voice clear his throat you look away from the very busy bar, to see your work friend Jason watching you with steely brown eyes, almost as if he knew that you weren’t interested at all which was true you definitely wasn’t.
There was no time in your life for dating right now even this was eating into your alone time, which was usually spent Netflix and chilling all by yourself which suited you perfectly, work was always busy and that was only what you really cared about…which wasn’t exactly true.
Because of course there was something or should you say someone, who occupied way too many of your thoughts despite the fact that the guy literally drove you crazy, unless he was in need of help seeing how you were somehow programmed to only serve him.
Besides it was in your actual job description being a nurse and all, but that should’ve been the last thing on your mind, considering how Jason had been talking to you whilst you had zoned out lost in your own thoughts.
Which meant that Jason had literally just got up and left the bar, leaving you sitting all alone here thinking about a certain masked menace, the one who you were avoiding for many reasons which would remain undisclosed.
Shaking your head you scold yourself for these thoughts yet again overtaking your mind, like you wasn’t even at work and still he was there fucking up your life the guy who annoyed you in real life, but often thought about when you hit that sweet spot with your teal coloured vibrator.
Trying to stay on track you quickly finish off your glass of wine, then grabbing your phone off the bar you almost drop it when you hear it start ringing, sneaking a glance at the screen you unattractively shout fuck in some random dudes face courtesy of who was calling you right now.
This was all kinds of unnecessary and absolutely not what you needed, here all alone at a bar in December with sparkly lights all around the place, and people looking like they were enjoying the festivities with very high spirits.
Sliding off the metal stool that you had been left disassociating on, you welcome yourself back on the ground feet first whilst debating the merits of answering the call, when perhaps you should’ve actually just gone after Jason instead and told him the truth.
That this set up had been doomed to fail anyway because you worked with Jason, at a hospital you frequented happy in the knowledge that this guy was just a friend, until he had asked you out for a drink and your teammate Adebayo had gushed about how it was the perfect set up which was just bullshit.
Luckily you hadn’t exactly dressed up for the occasion, wearing fitted grey jeans and a black sparkly tank top with thin straps, okay maybe you’d made some kind of effort but this had just been a practice run what for though you wasn’t exactly sure.
Seeing the call finally end you head outside the bar shrugging into your thick coat, deciding it was for the best that you hadn’t answered that call because your mind was noisy, courtesy of both alcohol and so many unanswered thoughts that were littering your brain like trash.
What if that chance back there with Jason was the best you were getting anytime soon, and you had blown it thanks to sure not exactly liking the guy that way, but you could grow to like him seeing how it would take your mind off Vigilante at least.
Because it wasn’t as if you were inundated with offers or guys swiping right, instead you usually got called a bitch a lot in the ER or were asked if you would put out in the nearest restroom, the guys in Evergreen where mostly all scum it appeared.
Yet you were hastened to add Vigilante to that depressing statement, when he had saved the task force and yourself many times whilst in return you stitched him up, and of course got to check out what he was actually hiding under that fitted black and teal suit.
How you eventually became part of the task force was a funny story actually, but ever since that fateful morning watching your ex get taken down by Peacemaker, quickly learning that the guy was in fact an alien and they did actually exist here on Earth.
Your ex had wanted to tell you something but when you had kept annoying him, the guy had gotten angry until a blur of red, white and blue interrupted the heated moment, a ruckus which had resulted in your ex being shot by Peacemaker and then the butterfly had appeared.
Dancing around your face a grey insect with large purple wings, getting closer and closer to you until a large gloved hand grabs the alien bug, practically squishing it in their hands as you recognise the person in the black and teal suit.
This was closely followed by one of the team needing medical assistance, something had hit John in the crossfire leaving him unable to move his left leg, so with your bag of supplies you had helped as best you could despite your head being in a ridiculous daze.
That was still the general consensus now when you had to either join the guys on a mission, or wait for them to come crawling back to HQ with needles, thread and sometimes shots of whisky at the ready, unless you were Vigilante who happened to just sleep off injuries like they were in fact just bad hangovers.
Yet you very much secretly enjoyed it when he needed your attention, just you and Adrian in a room together with him complaining all the while, but he was usually shirtless which sometimes made you forget to tell him to quit whining.
The thought makes a wide smile spread across your face, but then it quickly vanishes when you see that the same person is calling you once again, regrettably thanks to the alcohol you had consumed earlier you end up sliding your thumb right to take the incoming call.
“Fucking finally!” Snaps Chris as you sigh down the phone in response to his warm greeting.
“What’s happened-“
“Oh fuck it’s terrible!” Chris shouts causing you to stop in your tracks when he hurriedly adds “Something’s happened and we need your help now right now!”
“What’s happened?” You question rushing towards the nearest cab you could find, thinking of the worst scenario that could’ve befallen Peacemaker and the team.
“Just hurry up and get to my trailer!” Begins Chris but you then hear a deep laugh follow his panicked voice, which makes you quickly realise that this was some kind of shitty prank.
“Is this a joke?” You retort at the same time you hear Peacemaker laughing far louder than what was warranted, because for a second there you had worried about the team, seeing how death was almost always an impossible accident away.
“I can’t believe you fell for it y/n but I do need your help dealing with a certain masked idiot at my place.” Chris states when he finally stops laughing, which has you falling into the nearest cab, wary of what he was about to say next.
“Are you looking in the mirror again?” You deadpan then elaborate in case Chris didn’t get it “I’m saying that you’re the masked idiot.”
“Hilarious! But no I’m here with your favourite patient Vigilante and I need someone to babysit him-“
“I don’t need babysitting dude I’m in my late twenties!” Adrian shouts out in the background which you hear clearly, a smile appearing on your face in obvious betrayal.
“Why don’t you two just hang out talk about your latest conquests and braid each other’s hair?” You question innocently, but actually picturing the scenario in your head has you giggling out loud.
“Because I have a date tonight and Adrian won’t leave my trailer, I’m not leaving him here alone so you need to come round.” Chris states confidently which in turns makes you snort back at his current dilemma.
“Why do I have to come round though is Adrian hurt?” You ask flippantly but then clarify out loud “Wait, he isn’t actually hurt is he!”
“Would you get here quicker if I did actually hurt him?” Chris asks hurriedly as he then explains “I need to be out of here within the hour so hurry up!”
“I’m not coming round to your trailer!” You announce in a squeaky voice, even though you were almost half way there already, but Chris didn’t need to know that.
“Are you drunk?” Asks Chris with obvious glee whilst you proceed to snort and hiccup at the same time which doesn’t help your case an awful lot.
“I’ve had a couple of drinks but-“
“This is perfect.” Chris announces happily and before you can reply he actually hangs up the call, which makes you glare down at your screen feeling like an idiot.
What was happening here?
You were supposed to be avoiding Adrian, yet here you were actually parked outside of the trailer that he was currently residing in with Chris, who was quite clearly up to something as usual.
Taking your sweet time to pay the cab driver you had asked him to park behind the trailer, seeing how you needed a few moments to regroup and maybe sober up, that would be a great idea as well but pretty much impossible at this point.
So eventually you watch the cab leave as you wonder what was going to happen next, after the last time you had seen Adrian you were in no hurry to see him again with or without Chris in tow, because this felt like some kind of trap…what was Peacemaker really up to?
“Better put your mask back on because the nurse will be here in a few minutes to babysit you.” Chris announces to Adrian who pauses pressing the buttons on the TV remote, to glance back up at him with a horrified look on his face.
“What the fuck dude?!” Begins Adrian dropping the TV remote from his hand as he exclaims “Of all the people in this world why did you call the nurse for I don’t need her here!”
“Well I need someone here to keep you in check plus there has been this super weird energy between you two-“
“No there isn’t! Nothing happened.” Cuts in Adrian hurriedly but then instantly regrets it, when he spots the look on his team mates face.
“Dude, what did you do?” Chris asks with a tut knowing full well the kind of trouble, that Adrian somehow got himself into with members of the opposite sex.
“It wasn’t just me this time-“
Before Adrian can explain himself there is a short knock at the door, which makes Chris give his friend an amused glance, all the while Adrian looked like he was ready to throw himself out of the nearest window…interesting.
“This is gonna be so much fun!” Chris chuckles leaving Adrian to curse in his wake, as he heads over to the trailer door with a huge grin on his face.
“Can’t I come in?” You ask Chris after he opens the door, but then proceeds to lean against it smirking the whole time.
“Not yet I have a couple of questions for you to answer.” Chris explains with an amused look on his face.
“Just hurry up!” You snap bouncing from one foot to the other, seeing how the temperature had dropped again and you were freezing.
“So what is actually going on with you and Adrian then?” Chris shoots his first question straight from the hip, cocking it directly at you without even a hint of a warning.
“Did he tell you? Well believe me it was an accident my lips brushed against his-“
“Excuse me, what?!” Chris cuts in whilst laughing loudly, causing you to instinctively wrap your arms around yourself, for some added protection.
“Nothing, it was nothing and nothing is going on between us!” You nod back frantically wishing that you could press rewind, on this conversation hell the whole fucking day actually.
“It definitely sounds like a whole lot of nothing!” Quips Chris with a wink as he then steps aside, letting you walk into his trailer which you do seeking out warmth, but not thinking of what would happen next.
Watching in mild horror as Vigilante suddenly notices you then proceeds to launch himself behind the couch, ignoring the fact that you had actually seen him sans mask before, but he was currently trying to hide from you which wasn’t embarrassing at all.
Taking off your dark red coat you chuck it over an old bucket chair, clocking the confused look on Chris’ face as he reappears in the room, but then his baby blues glance down at your outfit causing you to roll your eyes.
“Looking good nurse.” Chris states with a wink which alerts Adrian who jumps up from behind the couch, hair messy and eyes wide as he finally looks in your direction.
“Oh, hey!” Adrian begins awkwardly like he had only just noticed you “What’s up?”
“Chris has asked me to come over here and watch you-“
“Watch me do what?” Adrian declares cutting you off whilst both of his eyebrows, were currently furrowed in some ridiculous thought.
“Not be an idiot-“
“See, you say an idiot but I say being productive!” Adrian states with a quick laugh as he launches himself back on the couch, only this time spreading his whole self across it so you have nowhere to sit.
“So, collecting scrap metal parts to shoot at with your masked friend here is being productive?” You retort with a small smirk, because this was usually how it was between you two.
“You’re just jealous that you can’t come along and shoot with us!” Adrian snorts then adds for clarification “Because you definitely can’t just turn up.”
“As lovely as that invite is I would have to decline seeing that in fact I have a life outside of work.” You retort back with a wide smirk.
“Did I actually interrupt something by calling you then?” Chris asks cutting off the imminent bickering that he knew was never far off, in fact it was the default setting between you two on most missions.
“Not exactly-“
“I don’t think I’ve ever not seen you in your nurses uniform it’s weird.” Adrian informs you which causes Chris, to slowly place a hand over his face clearly embarrassed.
“So, me in clothes is weird is it?” You retort back sarcastically, because this guy always got your heckles up, and managed to get under your skin within minutes.
“I’ve not seen you without any clothes on so I cannot say.” Adrian states whilst sliding his green eyes in your direction, unaware of how flirty he sounded, because on cue you could feel your cheeks already start heating up.
“Are you actually blushing?” Snorts Chris breaking the moment between them, causing you to look away from Adrian, to give Peacemaker a well timed glare which he obviously finds hilarious.
“That happens a lot then huh?” Adrian asks standing up to quickly lean forward, right into your personal space, which causes you to take a sudden step back.
“No it doesn’t.” You retort despite the glaringly obvious fact, that was clearly painted across your face.
“Whatever this is.” Begins Chris with a wave of his hand and a grin in place as he then adds “It’s adorable but I do need to go, so just amuse yourselves and don’t wait up for me.”
“This is nothing-“
“I’m so confused right now.” Adrian states cutting you off, as you glance around the living area of the trailer, still unsure as to why you were even here but here you were.
“I think you both need to talk-“
“Where are you off to anyway?” You ask Chris swiftly cutting off whatever he had been about to say.
“Like I said on the phone a hot date, just watch Adrian and if he injures himself somehow, then you’re here to help him.” Chris replies with a wink, which has you glancing at your feet instead of shooting back a retort.
“What could I actually hurt myself on?” Adrian questions out loud with a snort.
“Oh, you will always find a way dude.” Chris states smugly knowing the guy all too well, but it seemed he was in safe hands with you regardless.
“I’m offended-“
“I’m leaving, so don’t touch my alcohol and don’t destroy my trailer Adrian.” Chris cuts off his friend who nods his head, but this guy could never be trusted, he was truly a misfit.
“So how late can Adrian watch TV before I put him to bed?” You question with a laugh because this night was getting ridiculous.
“I can stay up as late as I want!” Adrian demands sulkily, like he had suddenly regressed back to being a ten year old.
“What you two get up to when I’m not here isn’t any of my business, unless you break something and then we will have some issues.” States Chris with a smirk battling against his lip as he tries not to laugh back.
“Now I’m offended.” You retort but then clock the worrying look appearing on Chris’ face.
“Yeah I can’t see you two getting up to anything interesting, always arguing at work I place my bet on you killing Adrian not long after I’ve left actually.” Chris laughs then with a final wave and check of his pants pocket, he leaves for his date with a heavy strut in his walk and his pet eagle in tow.
You shake your head watching Chris’ retreating back, whilst simultaneously wishing not for the first time tonight that you had just stayed at home, because leaving Adrian now wasn’t an option seeing how you knew how much trouble he could easily get himself into.
“Like you could ever kill me!” Jokes Adrian in a funny voice, then quickly followed by a wrinkle of his nose, that suddenly has your stomach feeling weird because he looked so damn cute.
“I think Chris was joking, but don’t underestimate my abilities-“
“Oh, I’ve seen your abilities.” Adrian informs you in a deep voice, which makes you quickly look back at his face, no acknowledgement or sign of how flirty he sounded yet again.
“So what are we doing-“
“Decorating the trailer to make it festive as fuck!” Adrian announces followed by a quick wink aimed in your direction.
“Yeah well how good are you at putting up Christmas decorations then?” You deflect unsure if you wanted to pursue that line of conversation, going by some visuals in your mind that you didn’t need right now.
“I’m amazing at decorating for Christmas, but it does depend on what things Chris has to display.” Adrian nods warming to his theme, as he continues talking about the virtues of lights and tinsel for the holiday season.
“Well you go and do that then.” You reply stepping past Adrian, to sit down on the saggy couch, whilst ignoring the look on your teammates face.
“I thought we could do it together?” Adrian questions in that puppy dog voice, the one that he knows works on Peacemaker but you would remain strong.
“I’m not moving from this couch.” You announce with a grin, quickly locating the TV remote by your left thigh.
“Why is everyone such a Scrooge?” Adrian questions out loud, but then walks out of the room in search of some decorations, you presume.
Finding a Christmas movie a quarter of the way through you drop the remote beside you, this was exactly what you needed right now, Christmas Vacation on in the background and Adrian out of your eye-line so you could regroup.
It was one thing being with Vigilante whilst the rest of the team were around the HQ, but whenever you were left alone with the guy, your resolve turned to shit and well you seemed to always humiliate yourself somehow.
The memory from recent events has you still closing your eyes, whilst tsunami sized waves of embarrassment rolled over you, like it had only happened five minutes ago and not almost a week since the work based incident.
Because a huge perk of your job was patching Adrian up, whenever he inadvertently hurt himself in some ridiculous way, you were there to fix him with memories of the guy sitting in front of you shirtless living rent free in your head.
I mean sure Adrian was handsome, kind of goofy at times and just so damn cute, he also had some issues but he was truly a sight to behold, leaving you usually with your tongue sticking out and a hand fanning your face.
Which was confusing as hell for you because on the one hand, the guy was annoying and super childish, but then he would innocently flirt and you could feel yourself melt for him each and every time.
You were damn sure that Adrian truly wasn’t aware of his behaviour around you, the other team members rarely even mentioning it now besides Chris, who was permanently in a mood to wind everyone up every second of every day regardless of time or situation.
Plus he had seen you rush out of the room you often used for triage and fixing up Adrian, with a heated expression on your face and a hand over your mouth, causing Chris to give you a double look as you rushed past him.
Because something had happened between you and Adrian not that he had even mentioned it since, and it wasn’t as if you were going to bring it up despite the fact that the memory of said moment still made your skin heat up, as if you were on fire which truly sucked…but it was all you could think about.
“Can you stop looking at me like that-“
“I’m not looking at you Adrian, I’m sewing you back together yet again.” You cut your teammate off quickly, eyes still focused on the task at hand.
“Yeah, but it’s the way your looking at my skin like you-“
“Wish that for one day you would go without hurting yourself or getting injured, well that’s actually my Christmas wish this year.” You deadpan glancing up at Adrian, whose green eyes meet yours with an inquisitive look.
“It’s not my fault I’m such a badass.” Adrian informs you with a smug smile, that has you grinning back despite yourself.
“That’s not what I would call you-“
“So, what would you call me then?” Adrian questions whilst simultaneously flinching, when you catch him with the needle in your hand.
“Sorry!” You cry looking down at your hands which were holding onto Adrian’s thigh, him sitting in front of you in just his boxers, and that obscene million dollar question left hanging in the air.
“You didn’t answer my question.” States Adrian in a deep voice, which makes you close your eyes and clench your thighs together, at the same time lost in the moment.
“Right now I would call you-“ You stop talking when you make the mistake of looking up, to see that Adrian was watching you with such an intensity, that he basically had you frozen in place.
What the fuck was happening here?
One minute you had been involved in your job, of course looking at Adrian’s thick thighs a bit too intently, but now you wanted nothing more than to…
“Look at me.” Adrian demands once again in that deep voice, the one that he wasn’t aware made you feel weak at the knees, which was fucking ridiculous.
Momentarily feeling bold you look back up at Adrian who was leaning back a little in his chair, wide shoulders framing his lean body which held smooth muscles, the kind that you had often wanted to bite well in your fantasies at least.
“What is even happening here-“
“I’m patching you up again.” You nod grabbing the large scissors to cut at the thread, hopefully signalling to Adrian that you had finished, and whatever this was could end quickly before things escalated.
“I’ve sat here so many times but right now things feel different between us-“
“Might be the drugs I gave you earlier talking there.” You deadpan causing Adrian’s eyes to bulge out of his head in obvious alarm.
“I’m joking!” You being with a laugh then quip that “I just gave you some painkillers they won’t induce this kind of sexual tension.”
“So, you feel it too then?” Adrian questions with an excited look on his face, as he tries to sit up higher in his metal seat.
“Again joking-“
“See, I don’t think you are.” Challenges Adrian with a grin as he leans closer to you, his face mere inches away from yours but you daren’t move a muscle.
“Why do you think that?” You ask in a soft voice causing Adrian to arch an eyebrow in your direction.
“I’ve noticed the way you look at me, we always argue over the most stupidest things so I think we need to figure this out.” Adrian nods as if what he has just said, made an ounce of sense because right that second you were definitely in denial.
“Stop arguing with me then-“
“Or what will you do?” Adrian cuts you off with a challenging laugh that for once doesn’t make you want to back down.
“I don’t have to do anything.” You begin with a wide smile and retort in place as you add “You want this so badly apparently, so why don’t you come and get it!”
“Are you actually offering then?” Questions Adrian with wide eyes, but then a smug grin appears across his handsome face.
“Adrian, fuck-“
Before you could finish that sentence your feel the forceful press of Adrian’s warm lips, pushed against your own which makes you let out a noise, a cross between a moan and a yelp that has you finally kissing him back.
Lips and tongues clash as you start to make out like teenagers, only with a little less saliva and more skill tasting Adrian as he consumes you with his mouth, like it was the only way for him to function being connected to you.
Seriously you could spend the rest of your life here in this moment and you wouldn’t be angry, of course that wasn’t a viable option but nothing else mattered than this moment right now, and the burn of your lips being manipulated by Adrian’s.
“Ow!” Adrian yelps suddenly causing you to leap back in your seat, his face creased up in pain.
“Did I hurt you?” You announce quickly then stand up in a panic, because that had just happened and you were mere seconds away from regretting it.
“I’m ok-“
“No, that shouldn’t have happened.” You state lamely despite your lips, hell your whole body telling you otherwise, but these thoughts were all too much so you instead decide to just escape.
“Wait-“
You hear Adrian call out but unable to look back you rush out of the room, feeling both ashamed and turned on which wasn’t a good look, especially when you almost collide with Peacemaker in your efforts of running away.
“Hey, what’s the rush?” Begins Chris with a laugh which falls flat when he notices the look on your face.
“I need some air!” You snap pushing past Chris to head left, so you could head outside and quite possibly throw up your lunch from earlier.
Sure it had only been a kiss but the way your body felt now, pushing open the HQ door with such force you worry it will smash, but instead you are left staring at it hoping to disappear because you were embarrassed.
How could you be so stupid? Nothing good could come from this, despite the fact that you actually liked Adrian, but could you deal with the teasing and bullshit from everyone else.
Not that you usually gave a shit what people thought, but you were protective of Adrian and what the others thought of him, their words were rarely kind but your heart was in the right place.
Eventually heading back you ignored the looks from both Adebayo and Harcourt, slowly walking back to the triage room to find it empty, neither Adrian or Peacemaker were nearby casing you to feel the urgent need to just avoid everyone.
That moment between you and Adrian had been fused with want, it had been pretty hot for him to make the first move, but now you were left wondering why you still cared so much…
“Fuck!” Shouts Adrian as a tall tower of magazines fall on top of him, looking in a small closet for Christmas lights but he’s found stacks of old porno’s instead.
Glancing down at his feet causes Adrian to quickly smirk to himself, as he goes to bend down and pick one up, but reminding himself that you were here he retracts his hand and continues searching for lights.
Yet knowing that you were only next door watching TV, Adrian still cannot believe his luck that you were here, despite what he had said earlier to Chris he was very happy to see you a little too happy if truth be told.
But he needed to play it cool like how he had seen Peacemaker act around woman before, so his main focus right now was to actually get some decorations up in this trailer, act like he didn’t care you were here with him when in fact the reality was a very different matter.
Sure he had said to Chris about not wanting to date at work, but the facts were very different to his words, because he definitely wanted you balanced on his lap already to hell with anything else even the dumb decorations.
Pleased with this plan Adrian turns round to look elsewhere, but his boot slips on one of the magazines sending him flying forward, holding out his hands to brace himself because he usually had reflexes like a cat.
“This is bullshit!” Cries Adrian as he grabs onto the kitchen counter, grateful that you hadn’t seen him do that because that would’ve sucked.
“What is going-“ You stop talking when you notice the magazines strewn on the floor, adult ones that clearly belonged to Peacemaker.
“I can explain! Those things fell on me I wasn’t looking at them I swear.” Adrian pleads placing both of his hands in front of his chest, making you look away from the busty redhead on one of the covers.
“I wouldn’t care even if you were but I’m sure Chris wouldn’t approve of you finding them.” You joke with a grin which Adrian mirrors, but with the added bonus of his cute dimples that makes your stomach flip.
“That’s why they were probably stashed in that little closet, I wonder what else he has in there?” Adrian questions but he notices you suddenly shaking your head in the negative.
“Let’s look for something more important-“
“You mean like the decorations?” Adrian questions with an annoyed sigh.
“No I mean beer and lots of it!” You demand with a grin adding “ The best way to spread lots of Christmas cheer is if we get into the spirit of things ourselves.”
“I know where Chris hides the vodka.”Adrian states with a smirk.
“Perfect!” You announce happily with a clap of your hands, that makes Adrian pause and stares at you funnily whilst you walk off back to the tv, avoiding those dirty magazines in the process.
