Gentle reminder that AEW greenlit a tag team name that is based off a hockey player who was a known Nazi sympathizer, domestic abuser, and racist. Just, uh, google Golden Jet.

If you want to support a Native American crafter this Thanksgiving, I have my crocheted items available on ko-fi!
A lot of what I have for sale are one of a kind and a lot of care is taken to make sure the items are sensory friendly and easy to take care of. Every pompom on every hat are attached with a snap button so you can remove it to care for the hat or hide it from pets. I make sure the yarn I use is soft or I soften it so it's not uncomfortable.
So please consider buying something if it sparks interest!

Maki Itoh vs Minoru Suzuki is the intergender match we fucking DESERVE

Minoru Suzuki is probably the best old man in wrestling right now. He actively does intergender matches without being weird about it. He still thirstposts on Instagram and knows how to use social media. He is willing to do silly matches and then also do serious matches. He obviously doesn't give a fuck about what people think. He can also still wrestle pretty damn well.
Like the man doesn't seem stuck in the past and seems modern, even in his 50s. Like that's one hell of a talent.

That poll has me thinking. Do you young people realize the chicken pox vaccine is newer? And people in their 30s and beyond likely never got it because it didn't exist at the time? Like I got chicken pox from a birthday party when I was in 1st grade and my grandma made my brother play with me when I had it so he would get it and we'd be through the process in one go. Chicken pox parties were common because it was easier to just have them and get through the process. There was no vaccine. It wasn't an anti-vax thing. It was a "the vaccine wasn't around yet" thing.

Ok. Wrestling fans can't use the word twink anymore until you learn what it means. No more.

Fuck it. Here is a family recipe in honor of Native American Heritage Month. There aren't measurements because you measure with your heart. Just season until the little old Native auntie in your mind tells you it's enough. Hunters Stew: Cubed beef - I use cheap ass stew meat because, yeah Cubed pork - get some cheap pork chops and cut them up Potatoes - whichever kind you have on hand/like. Either small ones or cut them up to a manageable size Carrots - I'm lazy and use baby carrots. You can use fancy ones if you want Squash/Pumpkin - This takes a bit of work, but a good butternut squash or pumpkin will do you well here Onions - Pearl is what I prefer, but diced or chopped up roughly will work too. It doesn't need to be refined Mushrooms - I'm lazy and use pre-sliced white ones. Use whatever you want or don't. I know mushrooms are hit or miss for people Seasonings - salt, pepper, paprika, onion powder, garlic powder Herbs - thyme, rosemary, bay leaf. These can be dried or fresh. You do you. Unsalted beef stock if you have it. Water and better than bouillion if you don't. (lay off the salt if you don't use the stock) Cut everything up into manageable sizes. If you feel ambitious, you can sear off the meat before the next step. Dump everything into a crockpot after you season it well and cook on low for 7-8 hours or high for 4-5. It's better on low. Use about a cup to a cup and a half of the stock. Use less if you choose to use frozen veggies. Check the seasoning throughout just to make sure you got it right. If you want a thicker sauce, mix in a slurry of cornstarch and water. Serve with bread to sop up the yummy juices.

Funniest outcome would be Okada going to TNA or Noah.

How to use strategy to follow the G1:
The first tip I am going to dole out is just pay for njpwworld. It's like 7 bucks USD and you won't be fighting for your life on the high seas. When signing up, use Google translate and sign up with the site in Japanese. Once you get logged in, switch the site language to English and you are good to go. For some reason the site bugs out if you try to register in English. 🤷
Secondly, NJPW posts all of the cards and the order they are in ahead of time. You can check on the schedule page. The results page on the same website will give you just that, the results. This is going to be key so if you are fast forwarding to watch just one match, you know where to stop. If there is a change in the card for any reason, they will announce it at the very start of the show, on Twitter, and on the website.
Now, you want to get a feel for the storylines? Your best bet is to watch the backstage comments. The only people that get in-ring promo time on these tours are the winners of the main event. Everyone else gets to be unhinged backstage. There are three places you can find the promos; njpwworld, njpwworld Twitter, and Youtube. They go up pretty quickly and get subtitled, but give the translators a day to get the subs up. YouTube will have them broken up by match, Twitter is by person, and njpwworld is all of them in one long ass video. Be warned: some people might do A Bit during the whole tour. Kenta absolutely totally didn't shill his book. ELP kept eating hamburgers. Jay White had the ToJay show. You get the point. It's wild. You'll find the ones you want to watch.
Now, if you are watching live, godspeed. The air times are always on NJPW Global's Twitter account. They usually have a few time zones listed. Your best bet is to just set a clock in your clock app to Tokyo time.
If you are watching live, there are no commercial breaks so you'll need to learn where is the best place to do bio breaks. You can always just go during a match you don't care about, but there are a few key times that always will work. The first is during Naito's entrance. Second is during Shota's entrance. Both of them take at least 5 minutes to get to the ring. Another good time is leading up to the start of a Yano match. This can be hit or miss depending on his opponent, but his in-ring intro is decently long. Another good time is after a match where they fucked up the ring or removed the corner pads. It'll take the Young Lions a few minutes to put it back and you get an extra cushion of time where you can miss the entrances for the next match and be fine.
Some miscellaneous tips:
Don't fuck up your sleep for this. It'll be tempting. It's not worth it. You'll enjoy the experience better if you just put it on when you have the time after work or school. The replays go up almost immediately after it airs so if you are using the subscription, you'll have it. These are 3 hour long shows. Just watch at your pace.
The NJPW codecs are shit so the video quality will be trash on the website. There is no way around this. Sorry. You just learn to live with it.
Main events and semi-main events will always have red shoes as a ref. How will you know it's him? Well you see, he wears red shoes. (and sleeves) He's also Shota's dad, so you'll hear some drama about that.
There might be nights where wrestlers are guest commentary! It's typically a surprise who it is, but you'll get to hear some interesting voices. Generally it's the native English speakers, but it'll be interesting. If Chris Charleton is on commentary, he will do live translation. (He's the Brit)
And my final tip:
Don't post fancams, clips, gifs, or screenshots on Twitter. God works fast but TV Ashai works faster. They will take your shit down fast. It's how TDE got their og account banned. (They don't know about Tumblr and let's not alert them to it either).
Enjoy the G1!

I'm going to take the same approach to Matt Jackson being on here as Max Caster was looking on AO3. If these men choose to come to a fandom space and act shocked that people are engaging in fandom this way, then that's on them. If you are going out of your way to show them these things, then you are the problem. Don't do that shit. There are active wrestlers on this site and they understand what comes with the territory (Malakai comes to mind) and if they mind their business and leave us be, it's fine. Again, they come here into our homes and see our thirsting, that's a them problem.
It's not the end of the world, so long as you aren't actively showing them stuff here. Again, don't do that shit.
