Bio: Charlie Harper is a captivating and vivid character - beautiful, spoilt, vain and irrepressibly witty.

She was a late kid, her mom was almost turning into her elderly days when Charlie came to the world! So yes, that is probably one of the reasons this beautiful girl got so spoiled - with two doting parents who were there to please her whims, she grew up to become a bit self-absorbed.

Luckily, she has her older sister Ruth, to call her back to earth when she starts fishing for compliments with new acquaintances 🤭

Charlie loves everything social and invite her to dance and you won’t regret it, this girl knows her moves!

Charlie believes in love in all of its forms and she would certainly be very happy if she were to find her love in Sunflower Soulmate BC! Charlie has applied for other BC before, but no luck for her so far.

But she’s an optimistic by heart and most of all, she wants to meet new people, friends, connections, come on, after all she’s a public relations woman!

Here’s my binding of spit_kitten’s excellent work, oh Charlie Harper we love you get up. It’s SUCH a cute story about an actor and his dialect coach, and it’s full of such brilliant writing and it’s so funny that I just needed to have a copy to add to my library. My binding isn’t perfect for sure, but this is only my third binding (that I’ve done by myself) and I think it turned out pretty well! More details and pictures under the cut.

The binding itself went pretty well, except for the paper and endpapers needing to go against the grain due to their size and it being the only kind of copy paper I could get. It still looks good and doesn’t pull, so I’m hoping there won’t be issues with it in the future. I used Cricut HTV for the cover and let me tell you, it was a bitch to put on or, more accurately, weed. You’ll see it if you look carefully (or not so carefully, really) at the cover. There are a lot of spindly little lines that came out a little wonky. There’s even a little line in “Charlie Harper” that got unstuck entirely. I don’t know which gods I should give a thanks to for having that cursive at the bottom come out even remotely legible. I love it anyway, though, little spindly crooked lines and all. Next time I bind something I’ll pick better fonts though, I swear.

The bookcloth is Magpie Duo from Talas, and it was amazing to work with and I love the shiny silvery sheen it has. The endpapers are jute marbled paper from Mulberry Paper.  I did 7mm gutters on this one which seemed very big at the time, but they ended up coming out really nice. At some angles the bookcloth and HTV is so shiny it doesn’t look like there’s anything there at all, which is really neat.

At any rate, I’m so happy with this! It’s my biggest binding so far (it’s not even that big, only 9 signatures) and the HTV finally worked in a way I’m mostly happy with. Now that it’s out of the finishing press it’s off to my library!
