Hook could not remember being more annoyed with anyone in his entire life than he was with Smee for the past week. Not only had the idiot gone to another one of those useless little parties the town wasted their budget on, but he had also gotten himself hurt while attending! And all in the name of that bloody rat of his.

More than that, it meant he had to be off his feet for sometime, which meant that Hook was picking up all of the slack. The boy helped, as he had been far more sympathetic to Mr. Smee's injury, but after Hook had cooled down a touch, he had taken control of the situation.

At least, that's what he thought.

In an effort to not let Smee's lapse of judgement slow them down in their leaving process, and to not have to keep stubbing his toe against a chair that was sitting by the door waiting to be dropped off with someone in NTO who'd decided to buy it, Hook had packed both chair and first mate up in the car that weekend.

They had managed to make it out of Swynlake and on the road when Hook asked, "I take it you know where we're going?"

Frankly, Javier had lost track of all passage of time. He’d chosen the wrong people to stand against, refused the demands they made in taking all the supplies he and his siblings had managed to collect over the months - and for what? To hear the gunshots that killed them both, lose everything and more, and find himself within an inch of his own life too, for good measure.

Maybe he’d welcomed it. The abuse, the pain - something to replace the numbness that had sunk into his bones. It was in part why he stood in the way of everything, refused to cooperate with the people who had ripped a hole in his heart.

What did he have left to fight for? His family...all of them were gone, ashes in the wind. All at his foolish hands.

Sammy and Rey gave him a reason to keep fighting, if only to help find a fresh start. They deserved better than the cards they’d been dealt. And three was always better than one.

He was healing - physically and mentally - since they’d set up camp in this abandoned little farm town. At least the work gave him something to throw his mind into, a focal point in the mess that had become his life. Building up protection, keeping the others safe...trying to wrap his head around what pieces might be left for him in moving forward.

“What’s going on?” He asked as he spotted Sam lingering, seemingly lost in thought, near the ‘gates’ of their little community. It wasn’t until he noticed the unfamiliar faces on the outside of said gates that he reached for his gun.

We've already been popping off in DMs but I had more SUGGESTIONS.

I can easily see Avian stepping into Las Encinas as a teenager, especially with her main story following her as she went from homeschooling into a private school for her teenage years (16-18) with a full-ride scholarship (and assistance from her rich uncle). Now, she's definitely shyer and quieter than normal due to subtle bullying that she experienced getting into the school, but I could potentially see her and Samuel being friends for the most part? Or at least, him being more open to getting know to her since they're both scholarship students trying to survive this wild school. I could potentially see Rebekah being jealous of their friendship (despite Avian having a very clear preference for women) so maybe there could be conflict there too? Or let the girls be friends please, all Avian wants are friends and not to be murdered.

You know, with how close I can see Terrah & El Profesor being, I can't say the same with Terrah & Berlin. Where Sergio and Terrah can have cordial, even fun conversations about life, plans, etc. I can only see nothing but disdain (mostly from Terrah) to Berlin. Terrah typically doesn't let her distaste for others be shown (if she even has any, she's typically more neutral), but his behavior and demeanor would grate on her nerves quickly and actually make her lose her cool. And I kinda want that to happen.

Hook had been having a relatively fine day, as much as he could being stuck in this ridiculous little town with all of its ridiculous little people all going on about their ridiculous little problems.

Then he had gotten some news that had put him, and therefore everyone around him, into a horrible mood. All day he had grumbled to himself about it, working himself up until all he could feel was a hot tar like anger in his chest. Sticky in its unwillingness to leave him alone, be washed away.

His walk home was more like a rampage, people thinking it best to just cross the street instead of having to pass him by. And it was. He stomped up the walkway to the house, threw open the door only to slam it behind himself, and yelled, "Smee!"

Hook followed the inevitable response to where the other man was and threw up his hand and prosthetic up, "The nerve of those buttoned up barbecued blistering barnacles to show up here!"
