It was the twin’s 14th birthday and the rest of the Armstrong family tried to have lively spirits for the occasion. Most of them have lost hope that Elisabeth would ever return. Almost four months have passed since then.

Osvaldo didn’t know what to expect and he was debating on not telling his father of his plans to study at Britechester all together. It was an unreachable and quite foolish dream now that he actually put some thought into it. Spend money to study about plants in a completely different part of the world?
“I want to go to university,” Osvaldo blurted out.
Edward smiled widely, “That’s great to hear! Your grandfather and uncles studied at Widen University. I didn’t get the chance to but it’s good thing you’ll continue on that tradition.”
Osvaldo played with his fingers, “I was thinking of studying abroad.”
Edward paused, “In Willow Creek?”
“Further. Britechester,” Osvaldo said cautiously studying his father’s expression.
Edward raised a brow, “You cannot be serious? Britechester? Do you think money is going to plop on our tables in the upcoming months?”
That struck a nerve but Osvaldo remained as neutral as possible, “I’ve been saving up every birthday money since I was ten. I can get a job just like Eddie if need be. I want to go to Britechester.”
Edward looked at his son’s demeaner that looked all too familiar of his own. It was the same look he gave his father before running away with Consuelo. No matter what he told Osvaldo there was no changing his mind.
“I suppose something can be arranged,” Edward finally spoke.

The twins now have different personalities. Osvaldo has quite a temper whilst Eddie is more laid back and easily makes friends.
Osvaldo hates everyone especially Ruth. Eddie is just like look at the pretty clouds!

Dear Mama and Papa,
Britechester is everything I could ever dream of and more! At first I thought the house was a bit small but then I remembered I wouldn’t be sharing a room with anyone. Oh the joys of being alone. Please tell Mr. Roswell thank you again for me. I won’t let either of you down.
- Osvaldo

The girls were getting some homework done when little Osvaldo decided to grace them with his presence.
“Roof roof dog,” he said while staring down at Ruth.
Juliet couldn’t contain her laughter and Ruth closed her homework slowly, “Osvaldo! That isn’t a nice thing to say.”
Osvaldo didn’t pay any mind to his older sister and walked away. Ruth gave Juliet a stern look, ”You shouldn’t encourage him like that.”
“Oh come on you wanted to laugh to,” Juliet said with a smile.

After three pregnancy finally came the babies they have hoped for. Two healthy baby boys. They could be almost identical, the only thing that differentiated them was there eyes.
Osvaldo had the same striking blue eyes as his father. Edward II had the same warm brown eyes as his mother and was born an hour after his brother. They were born in the year 1895.

Edward caught his twin brother once again staring at the same blonde girl. It was a perfect time to tease him. Also to finally give his brother a tiny push because he’s never going to have the guts to say anything to her.
Edward: Who are you looking at dear brother of mine?
Osvaldo: Jesus! I hate it when you creep up on me.
Edward: Shh. We’re in a library. What’s her name? She’s pretty.
Edward watched the annoyance in his brother’s face and he chuckled.
Osvaldo: I-I actually don’t know her name.
Edward: Well there’s only one way to change that!
He took his hand and started leading him towards his brother’s crush. She had moved to another seat. Unlucky for Edward his brother wasn’t so weak as he had thought.
Osvaldo: Wait! What are you doing Eddie? Stop it.
Edward: Fine don’t want to do it the easy way.
Eddie cleared his throat and before Osvaldo could cover his mouth he spoke up.
Edward: Oi! Pretty little miss! My old brother here wants to know your name.
Osvaldo tried getting out of his brother’s grip and felt his cheeks flare up with embarrassment. He couldn’t bare to see her face.
Marie: Is that any way to speak to a lady?
Osvaldo: Of course not. I apologize for my brother’s horrible manners. We should get going. I’m sorry if we disrupted your pleasant evening.
Marie (laughing): I’m only kidding. My name is Marie. Marie Rumforth. Your brother is quite the runner.
Osvaldo didn’t process what Marie had said because he could finally put a name to a lovely face. Marie.
Osvaldo: I’m Osvaldo Armstrong. We should get going.
As Osvaldo turned to look at his brother he noticed that he was gone.
Osvaldo: I-I should go look for him. It was a pleasure making your acquittance Marie.
Marie watched Osvaldo run in the opposite direction as Edward.
Marie: Boys sure are strange.

All three Armstrong men decorated the Christmas tree while the ladies prepared dinner for tonight. The could only afford to put small decorations and it looked rather plain but it was better than nothing.
Eddie of course had to tease Osvaldo every chance he got.
“Why did you put that all the way down there? Who’s going to see that? The mice? Ozzy you really aren’t the brightest twin are you?”

Osvaldo has began taking interest in plants and went to the local library to learn more about them. That is until he was stopped in his track by a glowing blonde girl sitting right in the center of the library.
Judging by the accessory she wore on her ears she was from a well off family so he didn’t bother entertaining the idea of speaking to her. Though as he went back to return the book he tried to read he couldn’t help but steal another glance in her direction.

The Armstrongs can finally afford to have a portrait taken of them as a whole family. (I took a full paychecks worth it seemed only fair)

Content warning: Post contains imagery of grieving and mentions death.
The Armstrongs sadly didn’t make it time to be with Elisabeth in her final days. Her health had declined rapidly and she died a day before they arrived. Consuelo never imagined she would have to bury one of her children far away from home.
She cried for hours near Elisabeth’s grave asking for forgiveness.
“I wasn’t the best mother. If I had cared for you more my querida this wouldn’t have happened to you. Perdóname hijita mia,” she wept until no tears were left.
Edward comforted his wife by holding her shaking body. He wanted to break down the same way she did. It felt like a large piece of him was empty once again. His youngest daughter gone for good this time and he wished that Jefferson had never found them. Maybe it would’ve been better to not have known.
Both Juliet and Ruth felt just as guilty as their mother. They felt responsible for what had happened. If only they had paid more attention to their little sister this would have been avoided.
Juliet leaned on Osvaldo for morale support and he held her tightly as she wept on his shoulder. Despite the twins being young when Elisabeth had disappeared they knew the damage it had done. They remember the times they would run around the front of the house trying to catch butterflies. The happier times.
Ruth was grateful that Miss Munch sent Julian with them. She said that she didn’t felt an awful feeling whenever she saw Jefferson. She would’ve sent Wolfgang as well but he was busy setting up shop with his older brother. Julian, though he didn’t know Elisabeth all that well, felt the sadness Ruth was feeling. He hated seeing her cry and not knowing how to make her sadness go away. The best he could do for now was hold her until her tears dried.

Content warning: This post contains mentioning of sickness.
Consuelo was the one to open the door and she was hesitant to let the man in. Though as soon as he mentioned Elisabeth’s name she had gone completely still. It had been more than 4 years and she had lost all hope in finding her daughter. What could this man even know? He sure didn’t look like someone from Windenburg.
She rounded up the whole family into the dining room. They all trickled in one by one until Edward was the last one to sit down.
Jefferson took a deep breath before he spoke.
Jefferson: I apologize for coming here unannounced but I did not have an address to write to you. My name is Jefferson Roswell and I’ve come from Strangerville.
The name did not sound familiar at all.
Jefferson: My mother took your daughter, Elisabeth. Not by any ill intention of course. She had been...in a state of confusion due to her age. She often forgot things, people. She sometimes had forgotten she even had a son... She came to visit the market place and mistook your daughter as one of our late maid’s daughter.
Jefferson watched every face in the room. The way they changed from relief and then to anger.
Edward: You could have brought her back! If you knew she wasn’t your maid’s daughter. Where is she? Where is Elisabeth?!
Jefferson flinched at Edward’s loud protest and at Elisabeth’s name.
Consuelo: Did you come here to let us know that she’s working for your mother now?
Jefferson’s face soften at Consuelo’s soft voice. How he wished that was the reason for his visit.
Jefferson: I’m afraid not. Elisabeth never worked for my mother she was very well taken care of because my mother adored her. She loved Elisabeth like her own flesh and blood.
Consuelo: Then she would have brought her back if she cared for her so much. Is your mother so shameful to not even show her face to the woman who cried herself to sleep countless of nights because her daughter was swiped away by someone so selfish and heartless!
Juliet: Mama please calm down. We don’t want you to faint again.
Edward: If you don’t tell us where she is I will throw you out this house this instance. Wasting our time by going in circles and not giving us any answers.
Edward began to get up from his seat and Ruth stopped him.
Ruth: Papa!
Jefferson: Elisabeth became very sick last month. The doctors said she may only have a few weeks. She isn’t able to travel and has asked for you to come to her instead. We’ll leave tomorrow morning.
