Halloween papercraft of this gorgeous artwork by @catadromously. I love the idea of chickens holding a seance and accidentally summoning their dinosaur ancestor.

Have to confess, I got an hour into those little feather and bone details and seriously reconsidered all my life choices, but I am so happy with how it turned out. <3

Hi, I was wondering if you would mind if I did a papercraft version of your grimdark art of Dolorosa redesign sometime? I love the spooky look and outfit and babby grub. would you ever be willing to sell one of your tf art pieces or maybe do a commission?

I do do papercraft commissions sometimes! But like a lot of handicrafts they're time-consuming and therefore pricey so more commonly the things I make are gifts for friends, art trades, or sometimes I donate commission slots to charitable causes (as in the commissioner makes a donation to the charity).

With something like a papercraft commission for transformers art it would either need to be based on a small piece of a larger work (like a panel from a comic) or with explicit permission from the artist. I've been really fortunate with how many artists have been kind enough to give me permission to play with their art in the past. :3

Hi I really like your work, I make paper stuff too so i see you as an inspiration. in some works the paper layers cast a lot of shadow. Is it because you make your layers thicker or is that just something that happens? Anyway, i love your stuff, keep going :)

Hey! It’s a combo of things.I layer extra paper scraps behind things or use foam stickers when I want to add some three dimensionality and get more shadows. It depends what effect you are going for how separate you want to make the layers. :)

I have less idea what I’m doing on the photography side of things, but it also helps to set up some diffuse side lighting when you photograph to get the shadows and textures to pop. :3

Papercraft based on the cover of J.Y. Yang’s upcoming silkpunk fantasy novella, The Red Threads of Fortune. The absolutely gorgeous original cover art is by illustrator Yuko Shimizo.

Saw the art, fell in love, had to attempt the thing.

These books are available for preorder right now. The author is a queer, nonbinary feminist, and one of the reviewers describes the series as “like a Miyazaki movie seared itself into prose”, so I’m pretty psyched. :3
