Call of the Wild - Woe Tidings Winners
Congratulations to this week's winners — @spooky-bard, @curiooftheheart, and @horsecrash!
@spooky-bard — Memento Filcher
Art description:
A faerie lies on their stomach on a rock, with their hands under their chin and their legs idly kicking. In front of them is an antique locket that’s been broken in half. From the locket twist strands of ethereal energy that weave into the shape of the scene once captured within the locket.
One of the things that I really liked seeing this week was the abundance of people taking the bargain mechanic and flipping it on its head, a la Devouring Sugarmaw, Lich-Knights Conquest, and Malevolent Witchkite. This was one of my favorites though, giving you UB Faeries as well as UR Instants and Sorceries synergy. It's reasonably balanced out by the stats, but I think the best part is that it acts as a type of recursion for your adventure creatures, something that feels black while also managing to stay in it's own color identity. This is a really cool card, one that I would love to cast myself.
@curiooftheheart — Over the Candlestick
Okay, this is hitting my neurons in a way that I can't really put into words. It manages to marry three out of the four archetypes in red up in a neat little bow. (RG Big Power, UR Instants and Sorceries, and RW Celebration) It also is a magnificently designed common that hits the haste-granting niche that the main set didn't really do at common. Whether you think Kindled Heroism is a better pick in limited or not, I think this would make a really great addition to the set.
@horsecrash — Market Swindler
Another card that fits within the Venn diagram of archetypes, this is a neat card that does something with the bargain mechanic that wasn't explored. It's meant mainly for a WB Bargain/Sacrifice deck, but the prevalence of the bargain mechanic in the set makes it viable in any deck you can add it to.
That does it for the winners! Runners will either be up today or tomorrow.

you ever know you're deep into a niche for an au and making choices that make total sense for that niche but that others won't understand unless they're also in on it?
in my brain's misguided attempt to give this au a proper history by casting the TMA crew in basically every ballet I've ever seen it's like, "well of COURSE Melanie has the title role in Giselle! that just makes the most sense. everyone agrees with that!" no, Aura, just the people in the overlapping part of the Venn diagram between people who are familiar with TMA and people familiar with that specific ballet.
