It’s been a minute, (both post wise and design wise) so decided to update the fam + a couple additions compared to last time

#batman #batfam #dc #art #my art #redesign #again im not tagging everyone lmao #but yeah for main changes other than just tweaking the faces and hairstyles a bit #changed harper up to look a little more like her live action actress #not that ive Watched that show but the actress was v pretty #changed up jasons scarring for ease of drawing #gave cass some punky streaks #gave damian a little bit of a mohawk like i have in his ‘adult self as nightwing’ art #i dunno i like drawing those two a little more alt #but yeah it was mostly just fixing some facial proportions and hairstyles to make em all a little more distinct from one another #apologies for not posting ive mostly just been doing stuff for dnd #none of which is polished #also i should specify its helena wayne-kyle not helena b #did also fix her age

Uhhhh very late miwip wednesday? it is thursday.

I've had this au—Will as Robin, El as Batgirl, Mike as Spoiler + a few more Hawkins characters as Bats but I'll leave the rest a mystery for now—rattling around in my brain for like a week, and I don't know if I'll ever actually write out the full longfic idea I have for it, but I'll at least post snippets and some doodles 👍

“I know I did it to you when we first met,” the sound of boots hitting the rooftop echoes behind him, “But it’s really not proper vigilante etiquette to take off someone else’s mask.”

Mike whips around to face him—Robin, The Boy Wonder. While he’s figured out who the new Batgirl is, he hasn’t got a clue about this guy. Unless maybe it’s not just El—maybe all the Bats are connected to the lab? Robin could be a number, too.

He stares at the other boy, lost in thought, not sure what to say.

When it must fully register that his comment isn’t getting a response, Robin shrugs and retracts his grapple, clicking it into place on his utility belt as he steps closer out of the shadows.

Mike quickly puts his mask back on, just for something to do with his hands, something to interrupt his gawking at least for a second. When he looks again, there’s now a layer between them—flimsy blue fabric that makes it a little less clear that he’s still staring.

But how could he not? The two of them have only really met twice—when Robin had tackled him not realizing The Spoiler is a new hero not a villain, and when Robin had come to his window the following night telling him to hang up his cape. So really, this is the first time Mike can stop and take him in without some sense of urgency bleeding into the situation. The first time he can just… look.

His mask is a deep green leather molded into a sort of beak, and despite leaving a decent amount of his face uncovered, it conceals what could really be identifying—his eyes, his nose, parts of his cheeks. His warm smile is visible though, and Mike can’t help that his eyes are drawn to it. It’s just the part of his face I can see, he tells himself, but maybe that’s not the only reason.

Robin runs a gloved hand through his gelled-back hair, a chestnut brown that Mike bets would glisten in sunlight. But Robin isn’t someone you see during the day. Bats only come out at night in Hawkins, even ones who wear bright colors. Red, yellow, and green—he’s like a traffic light.

Only now while glancing up and down as he crosses the rooftop, does Mike really register how small a guy Robin is, noticeably shorter than Mike himself. But regardless, he still moves with confidence, it makes his presence seem larger somehow—wise beyond his years.

i just reblogged a post about bob ross and now i can’t stop thinking about bucky being semi retired and taking up painting and sam comes home from a meeting and bucky is watching a bob ross tutorial.

bucky doesn’t hear sam come home as he’s so focused, one of the paint brushes is in his mouth as he’s concentrating, biting down on it and listening to the instructions. sam’s just smiling at him as he makes his way over to bucky, he wipes the paint off bucky’s cheek and then kisses the spot.

sam asks bucky where they should hang this one as bucky has already made like 10 of them in the past few weeks.

It's hitting some good shit rn and updates are the Highlight of my life rn. It's uhhhhhh based on the Rise! Future verse from the movie and is so much love and family feels and aaaAAAAA-

As for ch 16 for two halves uhhhh I haven't even started tbh. I've been taking a bit of a break from writing since ch 14 and 15 were both written on the same day. Plus now I'm sick and while I'm not doing Too bad, I've got a fever that makes my brain not wanna focus on ANYTHING but also be restless and need to do things

comics also beat you over the head with the themes nowadays. you dont get subtlety or ambiguity. batman comics used to be somber and noir-like. now theyre funny and feel-good and nothing about the stories stick to you and live in your head like long halloween/dark victory or murderer/fugitive-type stories do

#that stuff feels better in the somber comics because its a reprieve and not constant #batman and batman adjacent books are at their best imo when theres this pervasive melancholy dusting even the happy parts #THATS why you read a batman story. yknow #like. theres a ton of stupid shit in murderer/fugitive.#but ill never ever forget the moment cass figures out bruce is batman and how it thematically fits so well with the point of that arc #n ill never forget the way the art in dark victory intentionally draws attention to the similarities between dick and bruce while the text #highlights the ways they differ. because They know theyre different. but We see how they are the same. its good man #batman and robin 2011 is Dark and makes you think. now damian's history is used as a punchline #<- not to say it was perfect or not happening then too but at least you were also getting good stories yknow?
