I've always had this headcanon where Gwyn is dressed up for some super formal event, and as she's walking down the stairs, making her entrance as both Valkyrie and Carynthian, Az notices his shadows adorning her outfit. Everyone else assumes that they're mates, but Az is still clueless.

Carynthian

Alright so we have Gwyn and Emerie completing the blood rite and becoming Carynthian. This is purely my own opinion about the two receiving the title. I don't mean to hate on any of the characters. So don't come at me.

So in my opinion, it should only be emerie who should receive the title of Carynthian. From what we know, the titles of Arktosian, Oristian and Carynthian are solely for the illyrians(and half illyrians cuz Rhys).

Gwyn, even though she did complete the blood rite, is not illyrian. So i just don't think that she should get the title of Carynthian.

I always see posts of Gwyn being called Carynthian repeatedly. But i can't remember ever seeing emerie specifically being called Carynthian(maybe that's on me cuz i don't frequently go to her tags) when she should be the one being called Carynthian first.

Emerie is an illyrian. So i think she is the one who deserves the title the most. And the blood rite is an illyrian thing so i honestly don't see a white female being called Carynthian having much of an impact on the illyrians. It would only feel like—i dont know—maybe disrespectful and offensive to the illyrians.

I feel like if it were emerie being called Carynthian time and again then it would be a big 'fuck u' to the illyrians. The same illyrians who treat their females like shit and don't think they would make good warriors.

Emerie should be the one who gets to be called Carynthian. She is the one who suffered at the hands of the illyrians (misogyny and wing chipping). She should be the one to hold the title as a 'fuck u' to the illyrians. Not Gwyn.

And Gwyn(again no hate on the character) was passed out when they completed the br. It was emerie who carried Gwyn to the finish line. So in my opinion, emerie should be the only one getting the title of Carynthian.

It just feels weird for me to call Gwyn a Carynthian because she is a white female (not to be racist). Emerie, in my opinion, doesn't get the same hype of being Carynthian as Gwyn when she should be the one getting the most hype.

And even when u search up Carynthian, most of the time Gwyn is the one who shows up first when it should be emerie. She is the only one who truly passed the br. While carrying a passed out Gwyn, no less.

So basically i think emerie should be the only one getting the Carynthian title.

Again these are just my thoughts about the title thing. I have nothing against any characters. This is solely my own opinion. Feel free to drop your opinions too.

It felt wrong to not have them too.

Side note: Illyria deserves to have court status. What if they break apart from the night court and invent democracy to get their leader? Then maybe Emerie gets elected (Devlon redemption arc: he becomes a champion for women’s rights). She doesn't have baggage/feuds/a nemesis with the other courts and also brings a healthy dose of common sense to the table oh and now it's a political thriller following Emerie (and her Valkyrie/Illyrian friends) establish Illyria as a respected equal of the other courts and maybe this is why I stick to mood boards

Emerie Week Day 6: Emerie’s Future

Emerie will never be forgotten. Her strength and her determination. Carynthian. Valkyrie. Emerie’s story and the Valkyrie book will be passed down for generations and will never cease to inspire young girls everywhere.

Nesta read a line at random on the fifth page. Whether the sun beat hot on their brows or freezing rain turned their bones to ice, Nesta, Emerie, and Gwyneth arrived at practice each morning, ready to...” The back of her throat ached; her eyes stung. “We’re in a book.” Gwyn’s fingers slid into hers, squeezing tight. Nesta looked up to find her holding Emerie’s free hand as well. Gwyn smiled again, her eyes bright. “Our stories are worth telling.”

Idk why, but I feel like Gwyn and Emerie getting Carynthian status and Nesta getting Oristian status in the Blood Rite diminishes the value of the other Illyrians like Rhyz, Cas and Az earning Carynthian status and other warriors who survive the Blood Rite.

The Illyrians who participate have been training their whole lives, and for Nesta and the others to just be able to do it after several months of training? I get it they got both Illyrian and Valkyrie training, it still sounds weird to me.

It’s entertaining to read, but I don’t think it makes much sense.
