Tonight proves something that no one but the diehard Carlando fans knew.
Caco was as important to everyone at McLaren as Carlos. I remember Charlotte talking Spanish with him. The amount of times we have seen him with Lando minus Carlos. Caco never stood in the garage alone to watch a race. If Lando couldn’t find Carlos, he’d talk to Caco.
When Covid forced bubbles Carlos, Rupert, Caco, Lando, Jon and Charlotte became that little family bubble. It was already heading that way anyway but they became a little group
While it breaks my heart to see Caco looking so alone in the Ferrari garage these days , today, on his day, he choses to have that little group together (minus Jon).

I’m beginning to think now that this is deeply psychological with Lando and Carlos.
Obviously we knew they were friends back in 2019, Carlos’ sim install video, the story of Rachel Brookes seeing them sat playing on the sim in McLaren’s motor home together in Austria for 5 hours on the Thursday, every time Ted Kravitz interviewed them both. However I think this is rooted in Covid.
2020 season they had to stay in their own little bubbles, split into teams and sub sections of teams. The drivers and their trainers/managers were that bubble. No family or partners. So now they are forced to spend any time in a race weekend together. And we saw it, from constantly being in the same driver room, to talking about movie nights at the hotel, to putting competitions in the hotel rooms. 2020 if they were away racing, they were together.
Now Carlos is at Ferrari it seems that they keep the same structure. When away on race weekend they spend the time inbetween races together. Habit, learned behaviour, structure, superstition, not sure what you call it but the last three years have provided meals, golf dates, padel dates, clubbing nights, helicopter rides, even sharing a house with friends for a week in Brazil. Christ, Lando couldn’t play in a golf tournament with Zak so Carlos took his place.
And this is not by chance, how many times have we seen they know each other’s work schedules. They build this into their weekends along with their sponsor obligations and training.
The best bit is how often we see Caco has had enough of this and yet goes along with it. 😂
The funniest bit, how onboard with this Carlos’ dad is 🤣🤣🤣

Carlando were messy af with partying & rumours when they were both attached, i can't even imagine what it will be like when they're both single. Caco is going to be working overtime with NDAs 😭
i was looking forward to it and then i had a complete heart attack when carlos actually went clubbing last night so
