A fit rank huh? Sure I can do that. Just gonna preface n say that obviously this is my opinion and whatevs and that I won't be includin any of the ones introduced in 100yr because I don't care about the sequel :]

Alrightie lets get into it! This gonna get long tho, so imma put it under read more so I don't murder ppl who are scrolling.

Aquarius Stardress

This one honestly might be on the lower tiers for me. Like for the first stardress shown its rather, boring. The colour choice of green and yellow is weird, and visually disconnects it from Aquarius (like seriously? No blue anywhere?). The wrap skirt is cute and I do love how she has Aquarius' collarbone tattoo. That's fire. But the basic bikini top is meh. Overall its serviceable, 6/10 on the Phoenix scale.

Leo Stardress

Honestly can't go wrong with a nice black dress. I really would've preferred a pants suit for this one but the dress regardless is fun. I has a nice shape with the asymmetrical skirt and I like the ruffles all over. I also like how the anime gave her stockings

If I had nitpicks i'd say to get rid of the center line down the middle of the chest, the two under the bust are enough and get rid of the purple hair clip, it feels tacked on and just tosses in a random colour to the palette. I'd also maybe change the yellow to something more orange so it pops more (maybe even make the interior of the dress something eyecatching to add some extra oomph visually when she's kicking.)

But good fit, 8/10

Virgo Stardress

Well, it's about what you'd expect tbh. It's a maid outfit lol. There ain't much here to say cept that its cute. 6/10

Tauros Stardress

Oh hell fuckin yea. HELL YEAH

Unabashedly this one is one of my favourites solely because of the uneven pants. It's so fun and stupid. I also like how she and Tauros have matching belt buckles.

The basic ass bikini top does bring it down though (sorry i'm a bikini top hater. If you're gonna put a character in a bikini top at least make it a different style! There's different types of tops that can be both sexy and interesting!!!!). It also looks wack at certain angles.

My chest hurts lookin at this.

Apart from that I don't think the double buns works best with this dress, I think it'd work better if swapped with the double braids of the capricorn dress. Also I just think it'd be cool if this dress gave her an axe, like how the cancer dress gave her weapons.

but because of how much joy the stupid pants give me, 9/10.

Sagittarius Stardress

Another banger stardress despite a glaringly obvious issue.

This shit's great to me. Good colours, fun patterns, i fuckin love that its backless and the high ponytail is great here. The issue?

That deep ass coochie cut.

On god it just looks so uncomfortable. The anime tried to even it out by giving her tights but that just tossed in another colour to the palette and just unbalances it. A simple fix would've been just to make it white leggings under there. Skin tight, sexy and still practical. Apart from the coochie cut the only nitpick I have is that I think the boob window should've been star shaped and i wish her sleeves also doubled as archery gloves.

Apart from that and how much the coochie cut haunts me, its a 9/10

Aires Stardress

Now I have no idea why, but I was never exactly big on this one. Like it's not awful, all the stardresses have a baseline cuteness to them. The alternating pink and white tiers on the dress is nice, but the cut under the bust kinda kills the uniform pattern it had goin on. Likewise the leggings don't feel coherent to the rest of the fit. Like still cute, but the stripes and the introduction of black makes the whole thing feel busy and plain all at once. Though ironically when it's in the manga and purely black and white i think it looks better.

But I dunno, i think this one actually might be my least favourite. 4/10

Gemini Stardress

Ok. I like the alternating blue and white all over. That's cool. But, that headdress on top of the already busy outfit feels like its a lil too much on top. Also the random gold baubles on the outfit itself feels sorta thrown on. The belt can stay I suppose but nix the tassels near the collar and trade in the boob window for a deeper neckline.

We can just get rid of the headdress altogether and change her hairstyle to like, crown braid with a hanging blue and white ribbon on either side to keep with the alternating colours and we golden. 5/10

Scorpio Stardress

Gonna start this off to say, not a big fan of the bottom (the leather panty thing with the chain on it? Dawg idk i don't like it lol). and the chain on it looks so silly and not in a fun way. If anything I think she should have a bigger tail, not as big as scorpio's but defs something bigger that what she has currently. And as much as I like backless fits I don't think it works here, the deep cut boob window can stay though. I do like the headband and how her hair frames her face but overall its another 5/10.

Also here's a scorpio stardress redesign that I like. Doesn't fix all my issues with the og but it's still pretty dope.

Cancer Stardress

I like this because it looks cool and gives Lucy weapons. I don't like it because it doesn't connect well with Cancer the spirit visually. But Cancer's design sucks and I like this better than Cancer himself. Truly a design with conundrums for me. 6/10

Capricorn Stardress

I don't like this dress! Not one bit! Why is it a bdsm tit dress! The hair is cute and I like the shades and the horn clips with the bows but the dress!!!!!!!! Why is it so visually disconnected from Capricorn the spirit! Why isn't it a skirt suit with sexy fishnet leggings like in the concept art!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Leo Stardress

Classic design; love the dress

Suitable powers and it gives her efficiency in combat

Aquarius Stardress

I actually prefer this types of bikinis; I'd say it's a good one

Powers! I really love the versatily of this dress, it has both offensive and defensive moves and even earth magic

Virgo Stardress

I like the maid outfit; the off-shoulder dress and long sleeves

Strength-wise, right after Aquarius stardress. Really versatile, especially with the diver magic, and it can also do water magic

Sagittarius Stardress

I prefer the anime design; with the black leggings (dunno why dragon cry changed it back)

Decent powers

Cancer Stardress

Love the samurai-ish design (no?); honestly my fave one

LOVE the powers, it allows her swordsmanship abilities and speed

It kinda seems odd, however, that Cancer has normal scissors while Lucy gets cool sword-like blades lol

Gemini Stardress

Perfect for Gemini; looks like something a magician would wear and tbh my second fave

EXTRAORDINARILY cool, allows her to perform transformation on herself as well as others at the same time regardless of power levels, and she assisted Gemini in copying Marin while blocking Rules of Area.

Capricorn Stardress

A really sexy outfit; I love the dress but it's just not suitable for a spirit like Capricorn

Disappointing tbh, except cancelling manipulation magic (which is really cool) why don't we ever see anything else? Lucy should be able to become efficient in combat with it since Capricorn is a combatant

Scorpio Stardress

It's honestly one of the coolest fits; love the scorpion tail

Decent powers, it gives her speed too

Aries Stardress

CUTE dress; want one like that lol

Pretty neat powers, the wool can efficiently stop spells that require incantation as well as acts as a defense

Taurus Stardress

I'd prefer a jacket over the bikini top; average? (not a fan of fanservice)

Average, and I think it should give her more physical strength than it does since Taurus specializes in that, also it'd be better if it were an axe instead of the whip

Leon Maiden

Absolutely love the design; I think it goes well with Loke and Virgo, love the little jewelries

Honestly the light pillars erupting from the ground is DOPE

Aqua Stream

Horrible, the heavy bodysuit makes NO sense

Average?

Aquarius X Gemini Combo

I don't like it; just a designer bikini though the patterns on it are cool

GREAT powers, it allows her to simultaneously make water clones and leaves two slots for Gemini's copy magic, enough to pull off a lost spell like Gottfried

Head Canon during her year in crocus she didn't have a lot of work-life balance. she was either working, looking for leads on former fairy tail members or doing nothing. she tried to pick up new hobbies that weren't reading or writing because she was already doing so much of that, but she didn't do much long term. the most significant thing she did was teach herself how to juggle over the course of about a week when she was bored and she got really good at it. no one finds this out about her until years later and natsu and happy are absolutely enthralled by it, they make her show everyone at the guild. she thinks it's silly that they're so excited over it but she's glad she actually gets some use out of it.

Unpopular opinion i like her aquarius x gemini star dress. it's my favourite of the mixes and i like it more than a good chunk of the regular star dresses. i also really like the regular aquarius one too. i literally do not care that they're just bikinis. she's hot. and discourse over if it's oversexualised overlook the fact that it's probably the coolest magic she has????

A wish i want a taurus x aries star dress and i want a big badass moment where she saves everyone and i want a nalu kiss please please please please please.

An oh-god-please-dont-ever-happen sigh. i don't want her to get aquarius' key back. i think it would undo the progress she's made without her.

About Page | Headcanon Page | Canon Divs | Verses | Tags

Below are points I consider to be important regarding my muse and I hope they will be kept in mind during plotting/writing. Links to specific headcanon or divergence posts may be included in the below and I may add to this post in the future, as I go back over the manga or think about things further.

Note: filler arcs/chapters and the 100 Year Quest are not included as canon here.

Any of the unnecessary nudity seen throughout the manga – instances where Lucy’s clothes are totally destroyed, removed etc, especially when combined with her being forced into proximity with Natsu, are not included as canon. This includes the ‘quick, warm Natsu with your naked body, Lucy!’ scene in ch512. Any groping scenes (whether by Natsu or Cana or anyone else) are likewise excluded because – 1) its just not necessary, its demeaning to Lucy, 2) per plotting/portrayals of those muses (via chaoticor and hearternal), it’s not something they would do.

The running gag of Lucy trying to use her ‘sex appeal’ is not a thing here – while she knows she’s quite pretty (objectively) and she loves to look good, she is not that confident in herself in that way and would instead either use her wits or play the damsel-in-distress (acting helpless and innocent, big puppy eyes).

Lucy does not like to be called ‘princess’ and has asked that Virgo and her other spirits not call her that. She also never refers to herself as being the ‘owner’ of the spirits.

Oracion Seis arc – Lucy does not defeat Angel/Sorano. She does battle her and receive knowledge of Urano Metria from Hibiki, but ultimately is defeated and it is Sherry Blendy that defeats Angel. The battle taught Lucy a lot and helped her mature and grow as a celestial spirit mage.

Related to the above – Gemini does not disobey Angel during the fight with Lucy and does not later come to Lucy’s aid to help destroy Nirvana (even though both of those points were quite sweet). It also takes months for Lucy to receive Sorano’s keys – they were taken into custody by Rune Knights.

Lucy is very conscious and respectful of the contracts with her spirits, she does not just summon them whenever she feels like it. She also is very polite and thanks them each time they appear.

Tenrou arc – during the battle of her and Cana teaming up against Freed and Bixlow, she did not summon Aquarius (at least not for the ‘strategy’ of having Aquarius attack everyone, as that is not how Lucy rolls). She and Cana still won the battle, but through their teamwork, hard-thought strategies and Cana’s leadership (as it was Cana’s trial after all).

Stardresses – She first unlocked this aspect of Celestial Spirit magic during Tartaros with Aquarius, true, but it’s something that she had to really work hard at over the One Year in order to achieve with her other spirits. She does not still have access to the Aquarius Star Dress, and while she retains the fragment of Aquarius’ key, it contains no power. A new key has not ‘appeared’, but can be potentially reforged using ancient methods – which is something Lucy is trying to gather information on. Regarding some of her other Stardress forms – any of the forms that are overly revealing and impractical in canon (aquarius, aries and taurus come to mind as she wears a bikini top…) are not Like That here and eventually I might try to put an inspo board together for them. The Leo and Capricorn forms are suits.

The One Year – she did not retain her guildmark after FT was disbanded. She maintained contact with her friends where she could and they all made effort to continue to see and support each other. There was some drifting due to everyone being busy and she did struggle with loneliness and other issues for quite some time, but she knew she was not abandoned by her friends and that they still cared for each other.

The Heartfilia line is an ancient one, Lucy is trying to research it and Celestial Spirit magic in general. Certain bloodlines/families were associated to particular Spirits and have inherent abilities related to them – the Heartfilia family is connected to Cancer and has empathic abilities. Lucy is not fully aware of being an empath or her potential with it.

Taurus is not a perv

Brandish – the whole connection between Lucy, Brandish, their mothers, and Aquarius is not a thing here.

She is a current member of Fairy Tail still. The Master is Not Makarov (but my main verse is not set on who the master is yet, so its up to interpretation or general vagueness).

She does not have romantic/sexual feelings for Natsu. Her sexual and romantic preference is very much towards women (but its not something she’s thought too much about yet). When it comes to guys, she is demisexual/demiromantic.

So this was a long time coming but I finally finished the second half of Lucy‘s Stardresses! Technically the only ones left that were actually hers were Cancer, Capricorn, and Scorpio. But I wanted to do my take on what Lucy‘s star dresses might look like if she had all the major zodiac keys.

CRACKS KNUCKLES

ALRIGHT YOU FUCKERS TIME TO PUT ALL OF MY RETCONNED STARDRESS DESIGNS DOWN HERE BECAUSE I’M IN THAT MOOD NOW. I’m going to put this under a read more so if you aren’t interested in my Bisexual retcons then please keep scrolling and don’t give me flack over it mm’kay?

Aquarius: The skirt is going to be much longer on both sides so it’s more knee length and the slit is going to be closed up at the top so there’s no underwear spillage. The "bikini” is getting changed into a sports bra top that will have the same design as the original but the whole outfit will be blue and white instead of green. Since Aquarius’ magic was originally supposed to be a temporary gift to her instead of something permanent, this dress instead allows Lucy to swim and breathe underwater with relative ease (mermaids yo).

Virgo: this is more down to personal taste than anything because I do love maid outfits but I am giving Lucy knee high boots (like the ones she wore in her first appearances) and her chest is going to be covered by a semi-transparent black fabric that connects her collar to the actual dress. She also has a built-in bra to stop jiggle movement because fuck that nonsense.

Leo: Loke’s dress isn’t get much of a change because personally I don’t see any glaring problems with it. Again she’s getting a built-in bra for the jiggle thing and I’’m removing the Leo sign that was on the ribbon because I don’t think it’s fair that he gets two when everyone else gets one (if that). In the anime she has these really nice purple-grey tights so I’m also using those.

Taurus: Instead of...whatever the hell that bra thing is supposed to be, Lucy is getting a cowprint shirt that’s tied up and attached to those sleeves because they’re hella nice. Her right trouser leg is getting an inch or so longer to avoid chafing and again she’s got a bra underneath but it’s also cowprint so it blends in with the shirt.

Cancer: his dress has nothing that needs retconning so I’m keeping it the same.

Scorpio: BACK COVERAGE OMG THERE’S NO WAY THAT THING IS GONNA STAY UP WITH SO MUCH BACK AND SHOULDER SHOWING AND NO SUPPORT AT THE FRONT GOOD LORD. So yeah the back of the dress will have a diamond shape so we still get some skin and the her chest is gonna be covered with some silver armour that has gold glitter.

Sagittarius: I’m closing this bitch’s shirt up for one thing, giving it a back for another so she’s more robin-hood looking and then ignoring that weird g-string shit and giving her some fucking pants that go over her boots and flare out like a flower at the ankle.

Aries: I want all the signs on these dresses to be in different areas so Aries’ sign is going on the stomach of the dress and the collar is getting some fluffy wool and the straps are a bit thicker for extra support. Lucy has a built-in corset with this dress and since canon never shows us what this one is really capable of I’m making it so this dress gives Lucy immunity to cold-based magics (re: Gray’s ice make for instance) and the ability to use a smaller condensed version of wool wall for defensive purposes.

Gemini: Again I’m closing up the front of her shirt so it looks like she has a zip going down it, and then I’m putting Gemini’s sign on the back of the dress with the same dual-coloured blues as the dress itself. This dress, much like Aries, isn’t shown any canon perks so now it’s capable of letting Lucy “split” into two versions of herself (both with one half of the sign. One in light blue one in dark blue) that are capable of telepathic communication, thus making this dress perfect for espionage missions and multi-tasking. One personality is a cheery, talkative Lucy and the other is a more Rich Kid “sipping on champagne as I watch everyone do all the work” Lucy.

Capricorn: this is the stardress that really ticked me off when I saw it because honestly? It’s the worst of the lot, objectively speaking and it’s also got the biggest retcon design of all. First of all: Lucy is now wearing a three-piece suit, with cravat, top-hat, ankle boots and pants. Sewn into the hem of her jacket is a tulle skirt that opens at the front and Capricorn’s sign is on the back of said skirt. She still has the shades that protect her from eye-magics, and the horns look more like Capricorn’s though they still retain the bows. This dress also gives Lucy more durability against physical attacks and lets her jump pretty high.

Unless stated otherwise the rest of the dresses stay the same (colour scheme, hair style and perks) I’m just a salty Bi whose sick and tired of seeing sexualized designs for female characters that offer no practical function. Again you don’t have to like my redesigns just please don’t start shit with me over it because I’m really not interested in it.

It's almost a year and a half since you've joined the Tumblr fandom, what are some things you feel different about than how you felt before? Are there any things you used to like but don't like it now or vice versa?

Hmm, opinions of mine that have changed over the time... let's see! (Some of them are controversial)

Nowadays, I feel indifferent towards Gajevy. Don't get me wrong guys, I like them together, just not into the ship as much as before. And it's not because I ship them with other characters now.

I don't like how the sequel portrays Juvia/Gray/Gruvia. Feels like they can't have their own moments without somehow the ship being involved. I wish Mashima gave Gray some good fights, Juvia some relevance to the plot.

I love Jerza much more than I used to before, they're now my favorite after Nalu!

I don't want Jellal to join Fairy Tail, let him be on his own missions with Meredy and the former Crime Sorciere members. It'll be great if he's relevant to the plot and meet Erza in between for onscreen progress.

I don't want Ignia to hurt Lucy to trigger Natsu. I want Lucy to have her own connection to the Ignia plotline if she's going to be involved in the mess.

I don't want Aquarius Stardress to merge with any other since that completely destroys the uniqueness of the other one used. Let her get other combos. Enough of bikini outfits.

The sequel sometimes does injustice to Natsu's character by playing him as dumb which isn't the case at all.

I don't want to see another broken fight between Lucy and Brandish for Aquarius' key. Let them decide the ownership in a more mature way.

I love Rogue x Yukino more than Sting x Yukino and Rogue x Minerva.

As of now, Selene is a better character and villain than Ignia. But Ignia is more interesting.

Erza vs Laxus puts all other Erza fights to shame, even Erza vs 100 monsters.

Lucy's Capricorn outfit is absolutely sexy but as a stardress of a combat oriented spirit, it doesn't do much besides saving her from hypnosis. She should have combat abilities more.

Lucy's Cancer and Sagittarius outfits are better with the black leggings added by the anime.

Atsuo can't draw women as good as Mashima does. The thin waists and wider hips seem funny. Lucy and Juvia look bad in his style. That said, I appreciate his efforts to keep Mashima's artstyle a lot but it just doesn't work for me. Also Laxus' body shape looks absurd at times.

That's it for now lmao.

And yeah, I don't like the sequel's treatment to Nalu as well. Just in a different way than Gruvia.
