I haven't seen it mentioned yet that the Canadian commentators for the match were Ryan Styles and Colin Mochrie.
I have no further thoughts on it, I just wanted to make sure it was put out there.

my French teacher: oh, have you gotten better at French? I’ve seen an improvement in the past bit with your fluency…
me, panicking, because I’ve only been using French with a rayman ai: oh yeah! I’ve been practicing at home with my textbook!
French teacher, oblivious: wonderful job!

One of the reasons I’ve grabbed onto Yellowjackets so hard is because it addresses some of the aspects of living in Canada that get overlooked, namely all the evil shit that goes down in the woods.

The Alpha Flight in Marvel are a Canadian superhero team written by Americans, and you can tell immediately.
-first there’s Puck. A tiny little guy who headbutts people. That’s not a hockey pun, that’s just your average hockey fan. He’s not special.
-Then there’s the French twins which absolutely proves that no Canadian wrote these characters because no Quebecois in history would ever join an Anglican superhero team. They would absolutely start their own terrible team though, and tell the whole world they’re better than those English losers.
-The Frenchies are really nice. That’s wrong. You ever met a Quebecois? They’re rude.
-The Alpha Flight or whatever are led by the Canadian military. What military? Where’s his dumb RCMP uniform. We don’t recognize that guy. I legit didn’t know Canada had a military until we started learning about WW11 in school.
-Not one member of the team ever calls anybody a hoser.
-I’m not touching Shaman with a ten foot pole.
-You know who is an accurate rep of a Canadian superhero? Wolverine. Everyone from Montreal to Vancouver to Winnipeg knows some guy just like Wolverine in that surly backwoods flannel wearing way. But he’s from Alberta, you guys can’t have him.
-Deadpool is from Toronto

Thank you Canada Post for approving these absolutely hilarious stamps of my art right before ending the program letting you print your own photos as stamps, I will be sending everyone I know mail with them on it
[ID: Two photos of a sheet of Canadian postage stamps that have been printed with a painting of a raccoon standing in front of a large flame with it’s arms raised in triumph. The first photo shows the large sheet of 26 stamps, and the second shows a close up on one stamp. End ID.]

An Interview with Rick Moranis (2006)
Just an appreciation post for this great interview from the Agoraphobic Cowboy days which really goes a bit more in-depth about Rick Moranis’ history with music and his first job as a radio DJ.
Other than the rare photo of smol Rick (!), some highlights include:
---
IGNFF: Were you writing in that period? What was your participation in the band?
MORANIS: We tried to write a few songs. I don't think any of them were any good. When I got to college later on, I spent a lot more time writing - bad poetry, questionable lyrics, bizarre journal entries. I was trying to emulate James Joyce by that point.
---
MORANIS: Objectively I knew what appealed to me personally, and what appealed to me personally was what I was hearing from across the border. No different than growing up in Toronto and watching television on the Canadian channels - there were very, very clear pictures of hockey and documentaries on beavers. You know, animal beavers. (laughing)
---
IGNFF: What did you see as a career choice?
MORANIS: I didn't know. I grew up in a culture, in a household, in an environment where I was under the impression that I would have to do something professional and in the words of my parents, "legitimate."
IGNFF: Was there ever a perception of what exactly fell into legitimate?
MORANIS: No, but I remember my father saying, "You can be absolutely anything you want. A doctor, a lawyer, or an accountant."
---
This post wouldn’t be complete without linking old recordings from his DJ days:
