one of my absolute favorite things about first kill is that it actually gets romeo and juliet and the starcrossed lovers trope
"two houses, both alike in dignity"
we get some really good lore from both sides, both families stretch out hundreds if not thousands of years, they're treated as equals in the show
both alike in dignity
I'm not a meta writer so here's where my train of thought ended but it's so rare that a piece of media using the starcrossed lovers trope actually gets that part

Petition that next season, Juliette gets a new vampire power
I was a little bummed that Juliette didn't get an extra power like Elinor did, so here's my proposal:
It would be kind of fun if when the Burns figure out how to kill a legacy vamp (and they confirm that it works on another character, like the guy Elinor turned down, or whoever), it doesn't work on Jules
Like Jack (or Apollo maybe or even Talia) uses the method on a surprised Jules. They hadn't planned to attack Jules with it, but she walked in unexpectedly during an attack on Elinor or Oliver or some other legacy vampire gathering.
And Jules stands there, staring at the blessed/cursed stake in her heart, the one that should actually kill her this time, and Cal screams
They're not back together, Cal is still so mad, and they haven't worked things out, but... Cal thought they'd have time. She thought she had time to be mad and angry and betrayed, and that Jules would still be there, waiting for her in the end, metaphorical heart on her sleeve.
But now, all that is vanishing before her eyes, Jules bleeding (from her chest wound, from her eyes, from her mouth, from her ears) and unable to speak, a shocked Apollo stumbling away. Cal rushes forward to catch Jules as she falls, a hand behind her head to stop it cracking against the marble floor, sobs already choking Cal's voice away "No, Jules, stay with me, stay with me Juliette..."
And then Juliette coughs and coughs and gurgles on her own blood but then....doesn't die? Cal yanks the stake out and the wound actually starts to heal....
"Well," Jules finally says, "this is a little awkward."

me literally less than 24 hours ago: romeo and juliet isn’t even realistic because what’s realistic about falling in love and being willing to die for each other after like 4 days and betraying your entire family
me after binge watching First Kill: oh

You gotta love how Juliette is in the lovers arc of their story while Cal didn’t get the memo and sticks to the enemies bit on this first episode

I'm out here trying to understand the audacity of people complaining about the quality of "First Kill". Especially any member of the LGBTQ+ community.
It's almost like some of yall don't remember "Carmilla". Yall have the audacity to complain when the best representation I ever saw in my teen years came from a Web series that had one camera angle.
ONE CAMERA ANGLE. everything relevant to the plot happened off screen, there were no major fight scenes or cute dates or anything.
My teen years were defined by that one angle, whether it was Laura and Carmilla's dorm, or the Dean's house, or that dinky little library. That shit pulled me through all my confusion and helped me realise things about myself.
You baby gays and the absolute nerve to complain about watching an entirely developed story on screen with multiple camera angles. Hell half of you probably don't even remember all the "Bury your gays" shit we had to deal with. I'M STILL NOT OVER LEXA.
Anyways, the absolute nerve of you guys. SMH.
