S.V - Ep. 5: A Powerful Grudge

INT. – KAMISU ENGINEERING LAB – Damaged Entrance – DAY

- fade in -

Caption: 10:00 AM – Japanese Time

X travels on a red Ride Chaser with an alert gaze as he passes through a bunch of wrecked floorboards. The inner circuitry is exposed with wires and dangerous mechanical parts all strewn about, threatening to damage his Ride Chaser.

With parts of the entrance completely blown off, the Internal Tracer from his Force Armor quickly re-activates.

[RADAR]: Alert. Multiple jumps ahead.

X: (surprised) Radar, is that you??

X jumps over two dangerous pit falls.

[RADAR]: Yes. Alia, has re-entered my data into your Mainframe. I will guide you to safety.

X: (relieved) Whoa…

The Radar zooms in on a mysterious orb of energy floating in the air. X looks worried as they are heading right toward it.

[RADAR]: Analyzing… Substance not harmful.

He jumps onto a small platform with his radar’s guidance as the energy sphere absorbs into his armor.

X: (shocked, surprised) Oh! Hm??

Without much time to react, instinct takes over as X proceeds to take on more dangerous jumps. He blasts down two walls and comes upon a second power orb.

His internal tracer guides X right to it, where it is absorbed into his buster. He then falls onto a set of grates, where a third power orb is collected.

Jumping back onto a ramp of mechanical wreckage, X spots another energy sphere and dives after it with his Ride Chaser, popping a wheelie.

He collects the fourth power orb and then a fifth after smashing through two thick walls with the bottom end of his Ride Chaser.

X: Man!!

He lands onto more mechanical wreckage, as he can see that the gap between the ceiling and the floor is becoming very narrow.

X jumps and destroys a set of walls with the Ride Chaser’s blaster. He collects a sixth sphere, blasts through more walls, air-dashes passed a large pitfall and absorbs a seventh power orb.

Completely focused, X blasts away rows of walls that are in his path as his radar warns him of the danger ahead.

[RADAR]: Large drop, in 3 seconds.

X falls down, prepared to dash upon landing so his Ride Chaser is not as damaged. His wheelie plows through a set of thick walls, as a final energy sphere is absorbed into his Buster.

Once X makes it to safe terrain, he jumps off of the Ride Chaser and watches it violently crash against the doorway ahead of him.

The Doorway simply glows purple, protected by the Sigma Virus, while the floorboard below his bike’s explosion opens up a new section of the Laboratory.

X’s eyes widen with concern and curiosity.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- INT. KAMISU ENGINEERING LAB – Safe Terrain - DAY --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ALIA: (o.s, filtered, concerned) …Hello? Are you all right?

X sighs, deeply, relieved that he made it. He takes a moment to recollect himself.

X: Heh.. yeah…

X wipes the sweat off his brow and powers down into his normal armor.

ALIA: (o.s, filtered) You couldn’t walk here because the terrain is too badly damaged. Even the Ride Chaser nearly didn’t make it.

X: (bowled over) I know! That was crazy!!

ALIA: (o.s, filtered) By the way, did you notice those energy spheres along the way?

X: Yeah… My buster absorbed them after the radar warned me. Thanks for re-installing that, by the way.

ALIA: (o.s, filtered) Good! Of course!! I told you, all your old weapons from the Force Armor should come back to you soon, once the data has successfully been uploaded.

X: (smiling) Wow. You’re the best, Alia.

ALIA: (o.s, filtered) I know. Those energy items and the door in front of you seem to be corresponding… Try shooting them at the door. See if it can be opened…

X nods with a smirk as he aims his buster and shoots out all 8 of the energy spheres he collected.

With each cannon blast////, the door magically /// flashes white until the last one /blows up the door, completely. Within the explosion, a small trace of the Sigma Virus dissipates, where X can almost see Sigma’s face, fading away within the mist of the explosion.

X: (shaken) Huh!?

ALIA: (excited) You did it! The door has been broken! I wonder what’s inside… Proceed with care…

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- INT. KAMISU ENGINEERING LAB – Secret Room - DAY --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

X jumps into the secret room, surprised to find a Capsule waiting for him.

X: (gasping) Here? Volt Kraken must’ve found one and kept it from me…

Just then, the holographic Dr. Light appears before X.

DR. LIGHT: Ahh, X. Good to see you again, so soon. This is the program for the head part of the Falcon Armor. With this part equipped, you can use your special weapons using less energy. Now, take advantage of your enhanced special weapons and triumph!

X nods with a confident smile as Dr. Light disappears.

He enters the capsule and thinks, as his new upgrade is stored inside his head-gem.

X: (v.o, thinking) Hm… I think Dr. Light ran out of ideas. My Force Armor used to do the same thing…

X exits the capsule and leaves the room.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- INT. KAMISU ENGINEERING LAB – Corridors - DAY --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

He drops down to a vertical hallway, which has been altered in a maze-like pattern. This is the influence of the Sigma Virus, no doubt, as a series of new Mechaniloids await him.

From above, X can see that a Reploid Scientist is suffering as he stands next to an intimidating Spark Gunner.

ALIA: (o.s, filtered) A lab scientist is in custody! Save him and let him escape with a teleporter ring. There might be some cartridges in this laboratory that still work… We want to obtain one, don’t we?

X narrows his eyes.

X: (snide) I don’t know.. do we??

He drops down before the mechaniloid and charges up.

ALIA: (o.s, filtered) Excuse me?

X: /Hyaaah!!!!

X unleashes a charge shot and rapid fire upon the Spark Gunner’s open slot, which kills it.

X: Don’t talk down to me…

LAB SCIENTIST 1: Huh??

X: Not you… Here ya go.

LAB SCIENTIST 1: Thanks!

X gives the grateful Lab Scientist a teleporter ring, which teleports him to safety.

ALIA: (o.s, filtered, flustered) I-I wasn’t… Sorry, I’m just a little anxious over here, I guess.

X: (staggered) Yeah, well how do you think I feel?

ALIA: (o.s, filtered) I know! I’m sorry..

X jumps down to find a strange open circuit conduit above a locked gate, which is guarded by a floating guardian mechaniloid. He destroys it, once it opens it’s shield. Then, he studies the confusing system.

X: Hm?

ALIA: (o.s, filtered, informing) Oh, the lock system of the shutter is broken. If you attack the lock system, it will give power to it.

X: Ah.

He takes some pot-shots with his buster and notices that the lock is slowly moving toward it’s rightful place above the door.

ALIA: (o.s, filtered, surmising) You can possibly open the shutter this way. However… Since the lock system is almost broken, the circuit will soon break again. So please keep aware of the amount of time you will have to open the shutter.

X stops shooting once the shutter opens.

X: Alright.

He dashes through the gate and it quickly closes behind him.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- INT. KAMISU ENGINEERING LAB – Locked Room 1 - DAY --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

X hops on to a small terminal and spots a guardian hovering over an electric trapper. The trapper moves up and down over a small platform, which X jumps over and beyond towards the end of the room, where he spots another Spark Gunner waiting for him.

ALIA: (o.s, filtered, continuing) …It’s just.. I don’t know how you do it.

He shoots level-1 shots at the open slot of the mechaniloid, which affect it until it closes. The rest of his shots helplessly ricochet off of the Spark Gunner’s fortified armor.

X: Hm?

It retaliates with a spark of it’s own once a bottom slot opens.

X: Hmph.

He hops over the spark, crouches and blasts it away with five more level-1 shots. Then, he spots a rope hanging by a lock.

ALIA: (o.s, filtered) I dunno. I mean.. Aren’t you scared?

He latches onto it with his wire-hook and fires at the lock until it reaches the ceiling. Then, the shutter ahead opens.

X: Huh?

X drops down and dashes through the gate, before it can close.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- INT. KAMISU ENGINEERING LAB – Locked Room 2 – DAY --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In another maze-like room, X hurdles over a short wall, and drops down before a Spark Gunner, while an electric trapper threatens to catch him from above.

X: Of course I am…!

X crouches, and charges up while he waits for an opening.

X: But one day, I got tired of worrying…

With a bright flash of light, he transforms and stands before the mechaniloid confidently, with his buster out.

X: …and took destiny into my own hands.

He fires a Plasma Shot, which overtakes it, allowing X to move past the trap, and over the next wall hurdle.

A guardian shoots at X, but his armor shifts into brown, and he uses the C-Shot against the droid.

ALIA: (o.s, filtered) Wow. I’m so glad we can count on you, X.

X: (contented) Heh.

He looks above and ahead to notice that there are two different locks in the room. He also spots a reploid in need of rescue.

ALIA: (o.s, filtered) There are two kinds of lock systems. The color of the shutter and the locks correspond with each other.

X: (nodding) Okay.

He multi-tasks, alternating between firing at the orange lock ahead of him, the purple lock above him, and also jumping towards the wounded reploid, who is hiding on a top platform for safety.

X: Hey, are you okay?

LAB SCIENTIST 2: Ahhh.. Those things are.. crazy!

X: Hang in there. You’re gonna be fine.

X gives the Lab Scientist a teleporter ring to get him out of there, while still focusing on the purple and orange locks below and ahead of him.

ALIA: (o.s, filtered) You forgot to ask him about the Energy Cartridges…

X rolls his eyes with a smile.

X: Ugh!!

ALIA: (o.s, filtered) Kidding! Kidding!

He continues to fire his buster at the locks. First the purple, then the orange lock open up, based on the timing of his shooting. With the orange shutter opened, he notices that both were blocking his path into the section below.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- INT. KAMISU ENGINEERING LAB – Locked Room 3 – DAY --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

X drops down onto a railing platform and turns around.

X: (smiling) No you’re not…

He watches an electric trap hover around, so he quickly dashes under it.

ALIA: (o.s, filtered) Hmm.. Maybe not, but either way it’s fine.

He drops down to another railing platform, where a Spark Gunner awaits him.

ALIA: (o.s, filtered) If they have one on them, we’ll just ask them, since they’re recovering in our Infirmary.

X: (bothered, but amused) Ohh, see? Now it’s okay to leave it alone…

He destroys the Spark Gunner and dashes ahead.

ALIA: (o.s, filtered) Noooo. It’s best to be safe and ask anyway. They may be stored in another room somewhere. We don’t know!

He drops down to find another double-lock trap, waiting for him.

X: (sighing) That’s true, I guess.

ALIA: (o.s, filtered) Hm! Told you.

He silently focuses on the task ahead. A purple lock awaits him, beyond a vertical electric trapper. On the railing below is an orange lock, which he must unlock before he gets to the purple one. With the electric trapper traveling horizontally in between the opening of both railing platforms, X has to time his unlocking shots, just right.

After a few careful shots, jumping back and forth, charging up, and finally locking it in place, he gets the orange one to stay in place. Then, he jumps up and catches the purple one in time.

With a quick dash through both shutters, the orange one quickly closes behind his butt.

X: Ah!

ALIA: (o.s, filtered) HAHAHAHA. I’m sorry.. That was too funny!!

X: (blushing) Jeeez…

The purple one closes right behind him too, which startles him.

ALIA: (o.s, filtered) Hahahah… Oh man..

X smiles and lets out a slight chuckle, until he notices what lies before him. More hurt scientists need his help.

X: Damn, these guys are in trouble.

He carefully makes his way around a vertical electric trap and jumps over to a scientist hiding in the corner.

X: Hey, take this!

X pulls out a teleporter ring.

LAB SCIENTIST 3: Oh… Thank you.

He takes the ring, which teleports him to their Infirmary.

X drops down to a wall below, where he can see two more scientists in trouble.

X: Hey guys. Do you know where the Energy Cartridges are??

A lab scientist, avoiding an electric trap shakes his head.

LAB SCIENTIST 4: Mr. Adler keeps them hidden away in his Workshop.

X nods with a frown.

X: Alright. Here… catch!

X throws a teleporter ring at him, which allows the scientist to teleport away to safety.

Then he looks below, to find a hurt scientist with the electric trap completely wrapped around his torso.

LAB SCIENTIST 5: HELP!

X: You’re gonna be okay. Grab hold!

X carefully hovers down to him and drops the teleporter ring in his hand. The scientist instantly teleports away and the electric trap straightens out to focus it’s sights on X.

X quickly air-dashes to the wall and jumps away from it, before it can further sense his presence. It reverts back to it’s automated pattern as X walks away from it.

He masterfully dodges a couple of more electric trappers in the room and finds the exit across the bottom pane.

ALIA: (o.s, filtered) Whoa, X. That was fantastic!

X: Thanks, but it’s not over yet.

ALIA: Yeah… I see that bed of spikes ahead. Please be careful.

X: I will.

He spots a hover board over the spikes and two locks.

With a determined gaze, he hops onto the hover board and fires at the orange lock. Then, he jumps and hovers by the rope above to shoot at a purple lock by the ceiling. This time, he must open the purple lock first. He alternates between both, using his wirehook too, until he unlocks both shutters. Then he air-dashes into the next room.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- INT. KAMISU ENGINEERING LAB – Locked Room 4 - DAY --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Once the shutter opens, X spots a wounded lab scientist. Without a word, he tosses a teleporter ring at him, sending him away.

X drops down and destroys a guardian. Then he walks over to find another, hovering above a Spark Gunner.

X charges up and blasts the top open slot. His residual plasma is enough to destroy it. X dashes ahead and finds another one waiting by a ladder.

ALIA: (o.s, filtered) Ignore it!

X: No way.

He focuses his sights at a 45 degree angle and takes it out with quicker level 2 shots.

ALIA: (o.s, filtered, anxious) But it takes so much tiiime.

X: It’s okaaay! We’re gonna get through this.

He turns and shoots the nearest orange lock until the shutter above him opens. When he kick-jumps up along the far wall, he notices a bed of spikes, followed by a stack of very thick black crates.

X: Hmmm.

He fires a fully charged X-Buster, but it doesn’t even put a dent in the stack. He shoots a fully charged Goo-Shaver, but the ice blocks do nothing. Then, he charges into his C-Shot forcefield and dash-jumps into the blocks.

ALIA: (o.s, filtered) It’s not working. Don’t fall for Sigma’s stupid trap.

X: Hmph… I’ll just have to come back later.

X jumps and air-dashes off, back to safety as the orange shutter closes above him.

ALIA: Go the other way. I think I see Squid Adler’s Workshop from here.

X: (surprised) Really?

He turns and runs in the other direction.

ALIA: That’s why I’m so anxious!

X: (excited) Okay!!

He dashes down and spots another purple and orange lock trap. This one is far easier to navigate through, however. Once he does, at last he spots a gateway shutter, which will no doubt lead to Squid Adler’s Workshop.

X: Finally! I made it.

ALIA: Good job! Remember, Squid Adler is an Ex-Hunter, so he’ll probably be sore to see you…

X: Oh, believe me.. I remember…

INT. OLD MAVERICK HUNTER BASE - Command Center Hallways - NIGHT

Volt Kraken passes by X, who was listening in to his resignation notice in Zero’s office.

SQUID ADLER: (huffing, disgusted) Huu…

He scowls as he continues to walk swiftly down the hallway.

X: (guilty) Adler, wait!

X turns toward Adler and reaches out.

SQUID ADLER: Save it, X! With friends like you… /I don’t need enemies…/

At the first dash, Volt Kraken enters an elevator. At the second dash, the elevator doors close.

-FLASH-

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- INT. KAMISU ENGINEERING LABORATORY – Squid Adler’s Workshop - DAY --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The gateway shutter opens, and X drops onto the cold metal plating of Squid Adler’s Workshop. It is a very narrow, confined space, but also very elaborate and well maintained. It is clear that Squid Adler takes pride in his new profession as an Engineer.

Sirens blare upon X’s entry.

Suddenly, the lights go out, dramatically. Squid Adler hovers down towards X slowly in the darkness. Despite the pitch-blackness in the room, their bodies are illuminated by light from the tiles beneath them. Amidst the complete darkness, they are the only two visible reploids in the room.

X: (nervous, worried) Squid Adler, will you do me a favor?

SQUID ADLER: This is how you greet me after so long? No, “Nice to meet you again”, or “I’m sorry”… not even a “Hello”? How rude… You haven’t changed at all…

X: (guilty) I’m sorry about Octopod…

SQUID ADLER: I wasn’t referring to such an old story. You destroyed him because you are a Maverick Hunter… It’s your duty… your mission… Well, I got fed up with the Hunter jobs, that’s why I quit. Not because of Octopod.

X recalls listening in to that meeting.

INT. OLD MAVERICK HUNTER BASE - Commander Zero’s Office - NIGHT

Zero slams his hands on the desk as he stands up.

ZERO: (enraged) You WHAT?! How could you, Adler?! At a time like this…

VOLT KRAKEN: Octopod was my best friend and X killed him! I can’t trust the Maverick Hunters any more. I thought we were supposed to be serving justice.

ZERO: He was a Maverick, Kraken! What else did you expect us to do?!

VOLT KRAKEN: If giving up on old friends and killing our comrades is your idea of justice, then I want out of this stupid war!

ZERO: Stupid? …STUPID?! The only thing that’s 'stupid’ here is your attitude, Volt Kraken.

Zero glares at Volt Kraken, and he glares back.

SQUID ADLER: …My name is Squid Adler… And as of this moment, I am a Hunter no more…

He storms out of the office.

-FLASH-

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- INT. KAMISU ENGINEERING LABORATORY – Squid Adler’s Workshop – DAY --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Squid Adler is lying and X knows it. He decides not to go there though, and instead shakes it off.

X: (sad, numb, focused) Please… We have little time left… Give me the Energy Cartridge…

He holds out a hand.

SQUID ADLER: (pestered) You are free to take such a worthless thing… But what a simpleton you are. Even if you get it, you can’t change the fate of the Earth! Every Reploid has been infected by the Virus and become… Ma Ma Ma Mave…ve veR…

X’s smile fades into a wide-eyed look of fear and distress.

X: No!!! He has been infected too!!

SQUID ADLER: (evil, liberated) Whhhhooooaaaaa!!!!!! Maverick Hunter?? You will be TERMINATED!! Just like you did to Octopod!!!

He summons lightning into his body and powers up before X with a wild display of light. Intimidated, X steps back and guards his face as the lights dimly come back on.

Squid Adler floats in the air and unleashes a powerful burst of Tri-thunder. Three electric currents emit from his body - one shooting upwards, across and below him. When the bottom current strikes the ground, it creates a powerful spark of electricity that crawls across the floor, towards X.

X: (scared) Ah!!

With no other choice, he dash-jumps towards Squid Adler.

SQUID ADLER: (crazed) HAAAAAAH!!!!!!

He grabs X by the throat, thrusts his back boosters and slams him into the wall below the shutter.

X: Agh!

SQUID ADLER: THIS IS WHAT YOU GET, X!! AFTER ALL THE PAIN YOU’VE CAUSED ME.

He punches him in the gut twice with his other hand, while still gripping his neck. Then he sets off a Tri-Thunder at close range and drops X to the ground.

X: (hurt, wounded) Aghh-aaah…

He dry heaves as he slowly gets up.

X: D-damn.. y-y-you…

He charges up as Squid Adler floats around the room, creating more electric orbs and currents with his Tri-Thunder.

X jumps over an orb and hovers in the air to stay above a current that passes him by. Then, he air-dashes to his left to dodge another current, while his armor shifts into dark blue.

X: (charging up) I never wanted it to come to this… But SO BE IT!!!!!

X lets out a charged Goo Shaver, which creates a multitude of ice blocks that severely harm Squid Adler and cause him to fall to the ground.

SQUID ADLER: OUU-argh…

X: (cold) I remember your weakness. I know exactly what hurts you…

He shoots a Goo-Shaver at him, which crawls along the ground and catches him in the chest while he’s down.

SQUID ADLER: (suffering) Aaaaagh! No!!

He perseveres and punches the ground hard, causing electric currents to streak all across the floor. This forces X to air-dash towards the wall to safety. Squid Adler flies upward, towards the ceiling. With a wave of his hand, he summons a block to stand on, before X as he recovers.

X narrows his gaze.

X: (v.o, thinking) What are you up to, Kraken?

Squid Adler catches his breath on the block, then he fires a whole wave of currents from his tentacles, which completely capture the wall, behind X, forcing him to air-dash towards the block.

SQUID ADLER: Hehehe, there ya go…

Directly face-to-face with X, now Squid Adler has him right where he wants him. He tries to punch him, but X grabs his fist. Then, he kicks him with his left foot, but X grabs that too, taking minor damage to his side.

X: Yaaah!

He drops Squid Adler into a tackle on the block and places a heavy hand on his neck.

X: AHHH, damn it!

He raises a threatening fist above Squid Adler’s face

X: Just hand over the Cartridge and I’ll leave. I don’t want to kill you.

SQUID ADLER: (scowling) Hah! Go ahead and try… Just like you did to Octopod.

X: (annoyed) Hurrgh!!

X punches the stubborn Squid Adler in the face four times, before Squid Adler suddenly electrifies the entire block below them.

X: (hurt, shocked) YAAAAHHHH!!!!!!!!

Squid Adler flies away with a dark grin on his face.

SQUID ADLER: HEHEHEHEHE! HAHAHAHAHHH… You fell right into my trap, you simpleton.

X drops to the ground from high above and lands hard. The electricity has subsided, but his pain is sinking in.

[RADAR]: Warning… Power depleted by… 50%.

X sighs as he gets up, nervously.

X: ADLEEER! We don’t have TIME FOR THIS!!!!!

SQUID ADLER: Oh, what’s the matter, Maverick Hunter??? You’re afraid that this miserable world is going to end?? If you ask me, I think Sigma is doing us a favor.

X: (enraged) NOOOO!!!!!!

He air-dashes towards Squid Adler in a rage, who simply floats higher and kicks X in the face.

X: (hurt) Ogh!

He falls, but lands on his feet. Then he points his buster and wildly lets out an array of level-1 buster shots in desperation.

Squid Adler smirks as he floats around the room, dodging most of them, but getting stung by a few hits.

SQUID ADLER: Oh my, X… That tickles..

He floats down towards him, as X advances his rapid shots to green level 2 blasts.

The attacks hurt Squid Adler a little more, but they are fewer in volume, which allows him to press on towards X quickly.

Squid Adler fires back with tri-thunders of his own, which X attempts to jump around, but most of the currents just catch him and cause him to fall down again, hurt. His body is smoking.

SQUID ADLER: (surprised) Wow… This is it. I can’t believe it! It’s actually happening.

X looks up at him in disgust.

X: ….

SQUID ADLER: Never in my wildest dreams did I think that today would be the day!! The day I’d finally rid you of this World, for ruining my life these past seven years…

X: You don’t know what you’re talking about! Octopod went Fully Maverick!! He kidnapped Bubble Crab and Wheel Gator and tortured the inhabitants of the Sea...!

A faded image of Marty, the Mermaid crosses his mind.

X: (charging up) WHERE WERE YOU!!!!?

X gets up and /blasts him with a Plasma Shot at close-range.

SQUID ADLER: /AGH! I couldn’t face him. I was handling damage control in the streets.

X: HE WAS YOUR BEST FRIEND. That was YOUR UNIT. That was YOUR JOB!!!!

SQUID ADLER: AND YOU KILLED HIM!!! His death lies on Your Conscience, Maverick Hunter. Not mine…

He retaliates with a wave of tri-thunder that catches X, directly, and causes him to sway back towards the other wall.

X: Ughhh… Are you sure about that…? He came back to life twice since then and didn’t seem to change… So now I don’t care about it anymore…

X spits out some blood and gives him a dark glare.

X: I’ve had my time to grieve… Have you?

SQUID ADLER: (surprised, appalled) Why are you so comfortable with death? What happened to you??

X: Years in the field will do that to you, I guess…

SQUID ADLER: And to think, at one time I actually helped you… This is why I’m glad I’m not a Hunter, anymore.

X: You chose to hide away from your own guilt by burying yourself in work. That’s not my problem.

He gestures to the elaborate décor of the room.

X: I’m proud of what you’ve done, here… But now you’re turning Maverick. And you’re in my way.

Squid Adler shakes his head.

SQUID ADLER: I sense a darkness in you that was not there before, back when I was a Hunter. You’d best be careful, or you might go Maverick too…

X’s eyes widen with fear and anger.

X: (charging up) Nooooo!!!!!

He dashes after him and lets out a Super Goo-Shaver attack.

SQUID ADLER: AAAAAGGGHHHHH!!

The blocks of Ice overtake Squid Adler’s body and force him against the wall. His inner circuitry starts to sizzle.

X: I’ve been through a lot since you left the force. But one thing I know for a fact is that I am Not a DEMON!!!!!

He unleashes the last of his power from within his Force Armor and blasts into an Air-dash with his Nova Strike, directly penetrating Squid Adler’s sternum, against the wall.

SQUID ADLER: (shocked, failing) GHaaahhhhhhhhh!

The glow of X’s Nova Strike dissipates as he looks at Squid Adler with pure hatred. With gritted teeth, he headbutts Squid Adler and charges his buster.

X: (intense) Remember…! YOU MADE ME DO THIS!!!!

He points his buster directly into his stomach, next to his exposed core.

X: Good /BYE!!!!!

X blasts him with a fully charged Plasma Shot, which causes Squid Adler’s circuits to overload into a wild explosion.

SQUID ADLER: NNNNOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!

X is blown away by the near explosion and falls to the ground, damaged.

X: (hurt) Gahh…

He stares up at the ceiling as the last former Hunter dies at the other end of the room. He frowns and lets the tears escape his eyes this time.

ALIA: (o.s, filtered, gasping) You got DNA data from Squid Adler! His Tri-thunder is yours.

X says nothing as he simply closes his eyes in regret and takes a deep breath.

ALIA: (o.s, filtered, debriefing) …He was a high level boss, so we might be able to create other useful items as well from his DNA.

X: (hurt) Aghh.. O-kaay.. ALIA: (o.s, filtered) Whoa, you're hurt pretty bad. I'm gonna send you right to the infirmary, okay?

X nods and wipes his eyes. X: Y-yeah.. In a short moment, he is teleported away. -cut to-

X is teleported to the middle of the room. The 5 yellow Reploid Scientists he saved all look at him startled and amazed, but also concerned as two Lifesavers grab him. LIFESAVERS: Easy does it, X. X: Lifesaver! There's two of you? LIFESAVER CLONES: We're short-handed, so.. He cloned us! X makes wide eyes.

X: Ohh..!

He is set down by a bed next to Zero, who is sound asleep, recovering from his previous wounds. Alia walks in and visits X. ALIA: You got around so many traps... Thanks to you, now we'll have a precious Energy Cart to boost the power cells of the Enigma. X nods with a slight grin as the Lifesavers attend to his needs. They patch an IV cable into his arms, which feed him energen while he rests. Alia looks at X a little worried but cannot bring herself to talk about anything other than work. ALIA: (debriefing) Kraken used to be a Hunter, but had become a Maverick. It must have been hard for you even though it was your mission... With closed eyes, X nods in pain, as he slowly starts to feel better. ALIA: ..Let's restore the peace for him... X: No... Not.. for him. ALIA: (concerned) Hm? X: This time... I'm doing it for me...

He lets out a deep sigh as he starts to fall asleep. Alia watches him, looking so peaceful. Then she looks at Zero, too. She simply smiles as she turns around with slightly rose-colored cheeks. ALIA: (v.o, thinking) Rest up you two... You've earned it. But don’t sleep too long... We've still got a World to save.
