Hey sorry this is random and I hope it’s not a bother, but I saw you mention you have the Genesis: Chapter & Verse book and I was just wondering, do you know if it’s different from those documentary interviews where they go album by album? Bc I’ve seen those posted under the same title so like do you know if the book is worth getting if you’ve already seen those?

not a bother at all !! i assume by documentary you're referring to the together and apart/sum of the parts doco? if so i think the book is quite different, especially considering it was published a fair while before the doco was even made - i actually prefer chapter and verse to together and apart.

chapter and verse is not divided by album, it's more split up by eras and there's more of an even distribution of comments from all the members imo. it goes much more into depth into the early years/pre genesis stuff as well. i would say that the one thing chapter and verse doesn't really do is discuss the solo projects in depth, but i'm sure any of the guys' memoirs can take care of that.

granted, it's been a long time since i read chapter and verse or watched the documentary, but out of all the books and docos, chapter and verse is still my favourite way to consume the entire genesis story as it were. there's also a lot of great photos and a timeline at the back !
