Moodboard Monday/Tidbit Tuesday 🍂
Heeeey. Happy Tuesday gang, just two more days until another banger episode before the break! For some reason, I felt like bringing this fic back for today, at least a little taste of it. (Also, I kinda forgot how much I used to enjoy making mood boards for my wips; a habit I shall get back into soon enough, I think.✨)
Buck was driving just on the edge of the speed limit as he listened to the loud rhythmic beeps of his phone as it tried to connect his call.
“Hey Buck, what’s up?” Eddie’s voice was filled with levity as it came through the speaker; the bliss of unknowing, Buck figured.
“Hey Eddie, I’m… fuck, I’m on my way to your place.” Buck huffed as he steered the Jeep into the other lane.
“What? Buck, did something happen?”
“I- no, yes. I need someone to talk to and I-I know I should’ve waited until I got there but I couldn’t, I can’t—”
“Okay, okay, breathe Buck, breathe. Tell me what’s going on.” Eddie’s tone took on that grounding softness he used with distressed victims on calls and Buck couldn’t quite decide if it was helping to recognize the comparison or not.
“I—” How do you even say something like this out loud? He tapped on the steering wheel nervously, searching for the right words, but all he could achieve was a deep frown and a sour pout twisting his lips downwards.
“Buck? You’re starting to scare me.”
“I’m, I—” Alright, let’s start with he facts. “I got a call from the hospital.”
“What? Is it Maddie? Is she okay? Why are you coming here instead of—”
“Ma-Maddie’s fine.” Buck cut him off. “It wasn’t her.”
“Buck, I’m trying to be patient here but you’re not helping.”
Buck smiled a little despite himself; he could so easily imagine Eddie pacing up and down in his living room, with the phone pressed to his ear, frowning and pushing his bottom lip out nervously.
“It w- it was Connor. And Kameron, I… there was an accident.”
“Okay.” Eddie said slowly and the picture of him in Buck’s mind started to frown deeper. “So, what does that have to do with you, why would the hospital call you?”
Buck couldn’t help a bitter laugh escape his lips as he turned down to his exit from the highway.
“A-apparently, you’re not the only one who wrote me into their will and forgot to mention it.”

A bantam slugcat (same species as the Tiny) based on the dewdrop bonnet! They were adopted by a friend.
The Spiked, a scugial based on the false blusher. It was adopted by a friend. It is extremely dangerous perfectly friendly :)
Spike!!!!! (any pronouns) Based on the octopus stinkhorn! Spike finally has a reference hooray! Spike was created by Whispers of Light to be a companion, and the rot is sourced from a naturalized strain called red rot. Red rot is very stinky so Spike is too, although Spike doesn't smell nearly as bad as wild red rot lol
Floop (they/them), based on blue corinopsis! They're a flicker who INSISTED on their plush body being super duper fluffy. Also they are based on a little plush creature I have irl (I bought it online). The creature has a tilted face, so Floop has a habit of tilting their head too :]
