I love that Mei Mei is such an off-putting freak. Even if I don't personally like her, I love that she exists. I love that Gege Akutami is not afraid to fuck up, scar up, and kill off his female characters. I love that they're as strange and eccentric and varied as anyone could be.

He doesn't treat them delicately, or with kid gloves. He treats them with the exact same consideration he does his male characters. As vehicles for the story first-- because that's what they are.

#there's a smaller ratio of women so when bad things happen to them it feels lopsided #but im exasperated by these complaints about gege's supposed misogyny #i think it's weirder y'all take exception to his fantastic storytelling #he's not being UNFAIR #men get just as fucked in his storytelling #it's a fucked story!!#anyway needed to get this off my chest #after seeing one too many complaints #lemme complain back #jjk spoilers #my jjk #jujutsu kaisen #the main character is missing a pinky and half his ear #megumi's fate is as up in the air as nobara #i hope they're both dead #i was actually for sure that they were but fandom keeps making me second guess myself #when they die it's not BECAUSE they're women characters #it's because of what's happening in the world #the first character we think might be a gross pervy roshi or jiraiya type is todo #but it turns out his 'what's your type' question is something he picked up from YUKI #that's hilarious #he's a simp for an idol but so what?#the REAL misogynists and sexists are treated with genuine hatred #the narrative is very clear that they're disgusting and not a Good Thing #idk fandom is exhausting sometimes #sometimes i'll look at one thing and fandom will go off in a wildly different direction #and i'm over here like #did we consume the same media?????#let's try to be more bloggy shall we #jjk meta
