Rewatching hlvrai commentary and thinking about “The Hazardous Environment Suit was designed to never come off!”

Yeah it’s a funny line but it’s always stuck with me for its potential for both in universe and metatextual implications.

Because on one hand, Black Mesa designing the HEV suit to never come off implies that the people in the HEV suits will never have a reason to have to take them off, and will never leave the facility. Which is disturbing enough on its own.

And then you consider that Black Mesa is up to some horribly morally dubious shit and it’s possible that anyone who puts on a HEV suit is just straight up doomed!!! Black Mesa is going to eventually kill them!!! And they’ll never have to take it off.

But where it gets interesting is the metatextual shit because that’s what HLVRAI is known for.

Gordon is the only (living) character to be seen in an HEV suit in the series (I specify bc of the dead guy they find on Xen) and Gordon is wearing the suit the whole time, even before the point that he’s supposed to have it on.

The HEV suit protects him from radiation and toxic chemicals but it does not prevent the removal of his arm with a knife, which is an event that happens in this version of the game.

(Side note: love whump fics where the hl copy is a game but Gordon still loses his arm. tasty tasty trauma)

Gordon spends the whole series in the HEV suit, the whole game, and even when he leaves for the party at the end, it’s still on him.

There’s never a reason for the player to have to remove the HEV suit. There’s never a reason for Gordon to take it off, not even in the end. It never comes off.

And after the game is over?

You could say the impact of the game stays with him, and he will never truly be able to take the suit off

Am I the only one who's afraid of the season finale and the Orange Side's reveal?

It's not that I'm scared of the finale itself, more that I'm anxious about the fandom's reaction to it.

We have been waiting a very long time for this finale and the reveal of the Orange Side. And this time has given us the chance to create dozens of theories about them. We've guessed some of the main events of the finale, and we've dissected everything we could to predict the Orange Side's role in the story, personality, and even appearance. And while it's fun to make theories and headcanons, we have made so many that we've created an image of what the finale and Orange Side will be like.

And the problem with that is that they won't match the image in our heads. Even if Thomas tries to fulfill all our expectations (which I'm sure he will), the final product is going to be exactly as we imagined. And I'm afraid that in comparison to what we imagined, the final product will seem disappointing.

Or even worse, what if Thomas tries too hard to please us? We all know that hates to disappoint his fans, that's why the Sander Sides episodes are getting more elaborate and why production takes so long. A concern of mine is that in trying to meet our expectations, Thomas overcomplicating things, creating a confusing story that makes the overall show worse.

Of course, I'm not saying that these things will actually happen, or that we should expect them to happen. I mainly write this as a reminder that our headcanons are just that: headcanons. What Thomas makes is not going to make the same thing you've thought of, and that's okay. We should all just prepare ourselves for a finale that might be very different from what we imagined. And of course, let's give our respect and support to Thomas and the crew. They're stressed enough as it is. And the better Thomas' mental health is, the better his content will be.

HELLO THERE. so, i wish i could say that YAY HIATUS IS OVER I'M BACK, but.. nope, it's not over yet. i think these first months of uni will be very busy for me and when i finally manage to get some free time, my energy levels are just too low for writing, haha.. so yeah, i'm not sure when i'll be able to go back to writing imagines.

but i didn't want this blog to be totally dead, so i decided to do this fun little thing! i saw a lot of people doing posts like this and my class gc is. well. a whole circus, so i thought i should try this too. idk if these are going to be "in character" but i hope they sound like something twst characters would actually say.

Dragonblade concept: Should Jester’s drunken meltdown have been given to Sir Theodore?

In Heartbreak, Jester says/realizes that his meltdown is the result of the arrival of Haroldus, and feeling like Haroldus, is, well, heralding an era of change and bringing gentle Kippernia into the chaos of the outside world. He has this realization after overhearing Sir Theodore and Dragon’s conversation.

Now, in order to overhear this conversation, Jester had to break into Jane’s room, which was pretty messed up to say the least.

Now, we’ve had Sir Theodore’s POV in Dragonblade before. So why not then? Why not have Sir Theodore thinking about his own conversation with Dragon? Why not have Sir Theodore shed his own drunken tears over change in Kippernia being brought by Haroldus, especially since he gets apparently very wasted in Heartbreak?

2b nier automata is literally the funniest protagonist of all time because since her design is so sexualized tons of people flooded to the game to look at big anime ass only for her in the very first second of gameplay, before you've even seen the characters, go "why are we here. just to suffer? god, im so fucking sad"

putting my prediction on record now that the coming decade is going to see the rise of viral-marketed fancy at-home water filtration systems, driving and driven by a drastic reduction in the quality of U.S. tap water (given that we are in a 'replacement era' where our current infrastructure is reaching the end of its lifespan--but isn't being replaced). also guessing that by the 2030s access to drinkable tap water will be a mainstream class issue, with low-income & unstably housed people increasingly forced to rely on expensive bottled water when they can't afford the up-front cost of at-home filtration--and with this being portrayed in media as a "moral failing" and short-sighted "choice," rather than a basic failure of our political & economic systems. really hope i'm just being alarmist, but plenty of this already happens in other countries, and the U.S. is in a state of decline, so. here's praying this post ages into irrelevance. timestamped April 2023

I feel like I have seen a couple posts like this, where someone will raise the concern of sex negativity, especially in ace spaces, and specifically mentioning humor. I understand those concerns, because sex negativity is emphatically not a good thing, but for the most part, I don't really see the issue? I feel like, if, as a sex repulsed person, I want to make jokes about how sex is disgusting, it should be ok, and seen as an opinion and not a moral standpoint. If someone, for example were making jokes about, say, mac and cheese being disgusting, you wouldn't take that to be moralizing your opinions about mac and cheese, would you? I shouldn't have to add the disclaimer that this is my opinion and that I am sex repulsed and also I don't speak for all aces and also some aces can have and like sex... Like that would have nothing to do with that.

i cannot stress enough how much of an impact changing the way you talk to yourself can have on your mental health. swapping out self deprecating jokes and changing unhealthy sentiments like "i hate myself" and "i want to die" to kinder, more forgiving ones like "i need a break" and "i'm trying" can make such a difference to how you view yourself. the things we say to ourselves become a part of our lives and so we deserve to me kinder to ourselves in our heads.

I hope y'all are doing well #ive been reading a lot of fics with these two and i see how the authors have the characters refer to each other in their fics #and that got me wondering how much do they say each other's name in the show and how do they refer to each other #since this is the house video ill put his stats here #s1 was 19 times s2 was 31 s3 was 34 s4 was 30 s5 was 35 s6 was 58 s7 was 25 and s8 was 28 #in total he says his name 260 times. Mostly refers to him just by Wilson #He's only said Wilson's first name 7 times. Once by Jim 3 by Jimmy and 3 by James #He'll use his full name in professional settings or to be sarcastic or to pretend to be him #You know since House is the main character and in every episode of the show i thought he'd say his name more than him #but Wilson beats him by 42 times bc s7 and s8 he doesn't say his name as much. it took Wilson getting cancer for him to say it more #than he was before that point
