Something something the warring emotions of wanting to love the wish fulfillment of seeing Daniel Larusso beat the shit out of his childhood abuser (even if it was corny and dumb because the karate kid has always been corny and dumb) vs absolutely loathing the way this season shit all over the themes of the original movies and went all in on the idea all conflict should, actually, be resolved through violence.
#i would say as a whole my feeling are overwhelmingly (if not wholly ) negative towards this season#but like. daniels arc specifically. i just have so MANY mixed emotions there#i think if as a whole the season had been drastically different#if chozen and johnny (and barnes i guess) hadnt technically won that house fight#if miguel and robby hadnt duked it out instead of like. having an actual conversation#if daniel vs silver had been the ONLY fight where the good guys were narratively rewarded for senseless acts of violence#then i would have liked it#because sometimes yeah. you should get to beat the shit out of your abuser#but i guess because of the rest of the season it just. it didn’t feel as emotionally cathartic as it should have#and ive seen people complain that it was a cheesy way to end the giant dojo brawl with like. yes it definitely was#but i dont MIND cheesy#s1 was the cheesiest this show has ever been#and the movies are some of the corniest ive seen in my life#thats part of what makes them endearing#what did bother me was like. literally everything else lol#s5 spoilers#cobra kai#ck negativity#sort of#being more negative in the tags honestly

Ok so I don't typically post anything that can be considered political on my page cause it's supposed to be my little happy space free from torment on the internet but I feel like I'm loosing my fucking mind right now.
WE NEED TO STOP FIGHTING WITH EACH OTHER.
Political parties are the stupidest fucking thing that was ever invented- I hate to break it to you, but you're not all so different. Lots of people have the same ideologies as you and are on the "other side" of the political spectrum, but you are only hearing the outspoken angry people.
You ever play that game "we become what we behold"? It is a prime example of what's happening right now.
Anyways that's not my point right now.
My point is:
No one who is part of the 1% or in power wants to or is going to help you.
The government? Doesn't want to help you. Those billionaires? They don't wanna help you. Anyone who is running for president or any government position? They won't help you.
There has been an exorbitant amount of time for policies to be put into place to help the people who are struggling today. The only people who are in power or want power today are people who want to control you. I'm not talking about making it safer for people- I'm saying they want to continue to exploit and abuse the working class for their own gain.
And if we don't come together and fight the common enemy?
We'll continue to become more and more enslaved to corporate greed.
For once, stop complaining on the fucking internet and fighting with people you won't ever see in person in your lifetime and look at the people in power. They are the ones oppressing you. Not some random joe shmoe on Twitter. The political party they are with doesn't matter. They don't care about you. You are nothing but a bug under their shoe. You can "call them out" on the internet all you want, but that won't do anything in the long run. Register to vote, sure- your options are all ass- Do your own research look at what bills they endorsed or if they had been in the government before look at what they promised and what they delivered.
None of these old bags running are gonna tell you the truth, whether they're republican or democrat or an individual runner. Cause they wanna win. Start pushing for actually beneficial bills, make petitions, fuck run for president yourself.
As the people we're supposed to have the power. But we aren't fucking acting like it. Stop letting these old mother fuckers make outdated decisions and start pushing back. There are more of us than there are them.
I'm not saying riot or storm the white house for fucks sake. I'm saying do the paperwork, work with your local government, push back against the insane amount of leniency the government gives themselves.
They want us to fight with each other because it keeps our eyes off them.
If we keep looking at the state of our country and going "eh someone else will fix it" nothing will get done. I'm sure you know the bystander effect.
The people you see everyday are not so different from you. And guess what? We're all humans and we're all learning as we go. So the last thing you should do is ridicule or harass someone who's goal is to learn and better themselves for a better future. We need to stop acting like one different opinion means we can't get along with each other- because guess what? If we only interact with the most extreme sides of the spectrum we'll never learn from each other. It's okay to change your opinion when you are exposed to new information- stop acting like it's not.
This is not a post about anyone specific or anything specifically happening. I just want people to stop fighting each other when they have just as little power as the other person.
At this point I hate this point and really don't want to post it cause people have a habit of misinterpreting things said on the internet, but I think I will this time.
I'll reblog this with a link with an official list of current bills. If I can find anything else helpful I'll add it too. I can also look for more specific things if asked nicely. I'll see if I can get a link for voter registration too. Since things vary state to state I can only do so much. On more reminder that I don't want to fight with anyone, I want to be as helpful as possible.

i am fat white trash, nursing my cavities while surrounded by my own filth. i sit with my belly out, wearing my shitty black vans t shirt, and i collect crumbs on my chest. my hairy arms lead to hairy hands and to thick, stubby fingers which reach out to a TV remote and change the channel to something broadcasting dirt racing. i parade my neon-painted replica stock-car pieces when i invite you into my “man cave” (dirty, disgusting garage or shed which reeks of cheap beer and lingering body odour). i am short, and ugly, and i smell, and my skin is dotted with acne. my body is stout and built for starvation which will never reach me. my arms shake when i take too much of the medicine i stole from my mom which she stole from someone else. my dad doesn’t love me and i fucking hate him. i am fat white trash, nursing my cavities, in my filthy den, and do you love me anyway? or do you want to beat the shit out of me in a parking lot for being a “poser”?

Getting nostalgic thinking about my babystay days 🥲 I literally remember where I was sitting and how my computer was positioned when I first sat down and listened to Back Door for the first time (I think that was my first skz song). And fool that I was, my reaction was "meh" 😭
(For context, I've always been a lyrics person with music and Back Door is admittedly not that deep, but I've since come to appreciate that not all songs have to be deep and sometimes what we need is a song that's just there for the vibes and that is perfectly acceptable and serves its purpose and there are some GREAT songs in that category!)
I've obviously since changed my mind about Back Door, but I started liking skz for them (which is every marketer's dream) because I somehow stumbled across them amidst BTS Pinterest and thought they were funny crackheads (one of the things I also loved BTS for).
But I'm also remembering how later that summer (2021) I heard TOP in an anime openings compilation that my brother begged me to put on and—not knowing it was skz—I just stopped and went "wait wait hold up this is GOOD" and then "by Stray Kids" came onscreen and I was like "huh that's funny, but surely it's some jpop band with the same name" and then "3racha" came on in the credits with their respective names and I flipped my freaking gourd as my Southern dad would say
So suffice to say, I can prove decidedly that I would also like their music if I didn't give a flying flip about the boys lol. But I do and it's lowkey a problem but I also lowkey don't care and my fandom Pied Piper-ness has been successful in the past, so it will in fact not be stopping cuz we still constructing keep it coming HAH WHY U MAD BRAH

It doesn't feel like that long ago and it feels weird that I'm more "veteran" than like half the Stays in existence now aghhhh but their growth never really hit me because to me, each win just felt like a natural course of events. Like, "yeah, of course this should blow up, it's awesome and we know it's awesome!" And it's not like them getting bigger has changed them either. All that's changed is a growing obsession with grabbing each other's butts imo 🤣 That, and the natural course of maturing a little around the edges as you get older.
Which, in the end, is what makes me STAY and always will. The heart and mind of each Stray Kid is fascinating to me and I can't properly describe how much I love how they process the world around them. If you need any further proof, watch the Maxident album intro segment about what love means to them, because if you see what I saw, you'll see eight men with a better understanding of the concept than many people far older than them, each with their own slant on it.
Where did this essay come from, I was only posting about those first two babystay moments— Rather than rambling further, because I want to do other things with my life today, I'm just gonna say, if you're reading this, Chris, I'm glad. I hope this little segment of my "Stay Story" makes your day a little brighter! You guys inspire me more than you know in more ways than you know, but rather than letting that pressure you, I hope it lets you know that you're doing well.
And if any newer/almost Stays are reading this, I hope this was a fun story and makes you want to get to know them even better!
