I. GENERAL. this multi muse rp blog features characters from a variety of animanga & video games that all have their own share of mature themes & content , all of which will be tagged accordingly. as some of these series are ongoing, i will tag spoilers ! i am unaffiliated with all fandoms. common decency is expected as well as basic roleplay etiquette. please do not godmod which includes my muses’ actions, thoughts, likes/dislikes, and reactions ( assumptions that your muse makes about mine is fine ). i’ve had issues with this in the past and would rather not run into it again. i don't send in passwords or anything about reading rules, it's a common courtesy so please be assured that i read everyone's rules before following / following back!
II. SHIPPING. i am open to all kinds of relationships. feel free to come and discuss it with me. all relationships will happen in their own separate verse. i practice ship exclusivity, meaning that i will be shipping with one portrayal of a certain muse if there’s chemistry. i expect the same etiquette in return. please do not ship with a muse of mine and ship with another person who writes the same muse as me, it makes me uncomfy. let me know if you click better with someone else, i won’t take it personally.
III. WRITING SPEED. i have real life obligations so my replies are not fast but i don’t mind gentle reminders or questions about whether a thread is being continued or not. english is not my first language so there are times when writing does not come easily to me and i struggle to get threads & asks out but i appreciate everyone’s patience in that regard.
IV. TRIGGERS & NSFW. there may be triggering topics found on this blog and these will be tagged as TRIGGERS // and there will be rare moments that smut may appear on this blog that will be tagged as NS.FW as well. these moments will be extremely rare but just in case. this mostly pertains to topics of gore, violence, child abuse, human experimentation, and issues that are present in each respective series’ that my muses are from. in that respect, i do write certain villains who are definitely not good human beings. however, i do delve into their background to make sense of why they are as they are. i’m not agreeing with their actions, however i can explain where they’re coming from. with this in mind, i’m not defending their beliefs nor do i agree with them.
V. PORTRAYAL. it might be helpful to read the muse about and verse pages to understand my interpretation, portrayal, and headcanons for each particular muse (when i get to updating them ahem). for now, feel free to ask questions until i get those pages up hehehe... there will be times where i am most definitely canon divergent as i don’t agree with everything that happens in canon. this may also pertain to relationships in canon that i might not agree with as well.
VI. MEMES/STARTERS. it is better for me if mutuals send in multiple memes for whichever muses you're interested in from the roster! sometimes, my writing mood differs so having multiple memes and diversity to pick from will help that we constantly interact. i will post starter calls once in a while but just be aware that i may not be able to get them all out. best way to interact with me is to send memes or plot ooc for a starter(s).
VII. THE NATURE OF THIS BLOG. as is the nature of multis, i have a variety of muses on the roster and some that used to be there that aren't anymore. i do try to keep the main muses on the roster generally the same with some fluctuations. my fixations may differ at times but this does not mean i don't want to write or interact with you. please don't take offense to this if my fixations don't align with the muse you're interested in writing at the time. we can communicate and chat about it in that case.

🥀🍯 QUALITY OF … EXPERIENCE? UPDATES. hello, my dear friends ! 🌼 I hope everyone has had a pleasant start to their week 😊 I know it has been a minute since I’ve responded to anything on here, & the short explanation as to why is … my mother was home for two weeks & it severely threw off my rhythm 😭 I had no peaceful mornings to enjoy in solitude, which are the hours that tend to be my best time to write. acknowledging that it would only be frustrating to keep trying to push through & get things down on the paper, I decided to do what I could, since there was much outside of writing that needed to be done on Ari’s blog 🌷 now, I unfortunately did not get everything done that I had hoped to by this time, & some of these goals are still in progress—but the blog is in a much cleaner & organized state than it was before this winter break ! 😊
to not fill the dash with useless information ( as I often tend to do incessant rambling 😅 ), I shall place the updates that may be most important to others first. you will find all things ‘ trivial ’ beneath the cut 🌿
MY RULES HAVE BEEN UPDATED. old information has been updated & new information has been added to align best with the way I currently run my blog 📚 I’ve adjusted some areas that had poor flow, removed anything that sounded redundant or repetitive, & corrected the many errors that I found within the page. the only new section added to my rules is the ‘ accessibility & accommodations ’ section. while it is not required that my rules are looked over by any who are already mutuals with me, you are free to take a look if this section—or anything else previously mentioned—is of interest to you ! 🌼

AN UPDATE TO THE WAY I RUN THE ASK BOX. the ask box will no longer be closed, & I will rarely ever close it again in the future. I have decided to handle the ask box differently from the way I had been doing so before. as you all very well know, I am not fast 😅 I tend to take many moons to answer things, & though I have never received a complaint from any mutual about my reply speed, it is never not a worry in my mind 😔 I do think that ask memes serve as wonderful icebreakers for new interactions, & I now feel that closing my ask box limits the opportunity that newer mutuals have to start something with me. I intend to go through my asks at my own pace, however, but I feel like this decision will help new things get started ! 🍃additionally, my meme tag has now been linked to Ari’s pinned post ! 😊

ALRIGHT. just so that everyone’s on the same page, this post will contain some housekeeping and what to expect about my portrayal. I’ve also set up a basic rules page for more general things that aren’t mentioned in this post. they both will be updated at need.
in case it isn’t clear, my name is paint, and I am still very new to the TWST storyline and cast; please have some patience with me. I’ve been reading the story translations online to catch up and I don’t mind spoilers, but I honestly didn’t even pick up the game until very recently.

1. as we’re following twst’s EN translations, I will not be using Japanese honorifics. instead I’ll be following the EN’s choice of referring to year mates by their given name and seniors by their surname, give or take the exceptions / as relationships progress. staff will receive the usual treatment. given names will reflect his familiarity with the person, while surnames will be used as a sign of respect/distance. it’s also a nod to his former delinquency. nicknames will be rare if at all, since it doesn’t seem like Deuce is the kind of person to use them. maybe under duress.
2. since the cast has been aged up (2 years in Deuce’s case), I’m taking the liberty of adjusting the time frame of his delinquency phase as something that started towards the tail end of middle school and continued through the majority of his high school years. roughly speaking, he would have chosen to clean up his act around the last 1-2 years of high school before receiving his admission to NRU after graduation, so roughly 3 years of delinquency total. this adds about a year and a half of buffer for him to play catch up with his previous affairs before he has to get serious at NRU.
3. the game itself has mentioned that Deuce is a bit of a slow and disorganized person when it comes to the theoretical side of academia, and while I will still be playing up those elements of his character, it’s clear that he can pick up on the subject matter when given opportunity and assistance to thoroughly break down the material. his strength clearly seems to lie with more physically tactile subjects, but aside from some friendly teasing I don’t actually want to push an agenda of learning difficulties being the butt-end of a joke. Deuce may not be the sharpest card in the deck, but that’s why he looks to others for help.
4. there’s also apparently a running trend for him to have dialogue that reference his masculinity, with lines like “I’d lose my man-card if I backed out now” and what not. frankly, I think it’s kind of bullshit and a bit tasteless when you consider the existence of characters like Vil and Riddle, so I will not be using them nearly as often as the game does if at all. however, I will be utilizing that element of his personality as a result of being raised by a single mother; it’s mentioned by him that aside from his mother, there was also an officer who would believe in him when he was blamed for something he didn’t do. so while I don’t agree with the way they’ve chosen to word those particular dialogue lines, I can see how they got there. but by virtue of a longer gap between the end of his delinquency and his current goals, I’ll be writing him as having matured enough to understand that he doesn’t need to worry about those kinds of things. he’ll still be a little immature though, as a momma’s boy.

Thank you for taking the time to read my rules, these are certain things that I was to make clear to avoid any problems in the future.
I believe everyone has the right to tailor their own experience on this website, its why we have rules and regulations to avoid these problems, but should something between the two of us ever occurred, I would like us to talk about it like adults if we can’t reach an agreement we should both go our separate ways no hard feelings or drama involved.
As an aside i find communication extremely important, and i would prefer it over passive aggressiveness.

Marieeeeeee! Happy, happy birthday! ＼(＾▽＾)／
While I've mentioned this before, but holy moly, sometimes I get so surprised at how small the world can be; of all instances that we can meet again thanks to the littlest of clues. Nothing like vibing yet again with a dear friend after so long!
Just like how we started off back (almost) a decade ago with our muses at the time, hardly anything changed with our ooc dynamic. This time though, brains went ultra instinct with the outpouring of ideas that led to an entire JLCU (Jude Law Cinematique Universe) that started with Xenia, Bad End, 2.5, Bad End Bureau Boys or constalelations, to having its own AU thru our current brainrot of MSX2G.
Of course, time doesn't account with how much friends and rp partners vibe, but even if we've been doing our own thing for YEARS, we just went all out as if time didn't pass at all! Not to mention I love Xillia and Jude so much, when I haven't even played the games at all (yet). That's one of my favorite things about writing and plotting in general!
Anyway, wow. I am so thankful for just having met you, even all those years ago (Jude Law quote moment [cries HAHA]); during quite the crucial turning point in life (uni), and making it super fun. And now, I've been working for a while, adulting or whatever, but living the life, and having fun in writing/plotting thanks to our adventures together. Thank you for being an awesome and supportive friend in general, not just as a fantastique writing partner.

1. Who was your first muse? Any particular reason you chose them?
i thiiiiink my first ever indie canon muse was stiles stilinski from teen wolf. i chose him because i was a really big fan of his character on the show!
2. Did you always intend/want to run a multi muse blog or did it just kinda happen?
this blog started as a multimuse just for borderlands characters but then i realized i wanted to take on muses from other medias. so it's sort of always been a multimuse blog.
3. Which muse(s) would you say are most like yourself or resemble you in some way?
hmmmm. this is a good one. i'd like to say that i share similarities with reki?
4. Which muse would you say is the most fun to write personally?
i really enjoy writing kojiro! he's just a really fun guy to write.
5. Any difficult muses? Or ones that are hard to write for?
my oc rhys is somewhat difficult? in the way that he's...very closed off and standoffish and i know that makes him difficult to approach.
6. Are there any muses you’ve dropped? If so was there a reason why?
i haven't dropped them yet but i am considering dropping my stranger things muses or at least making them requestable. mostly just because i don't have the drive to write for them fully.
7. Do any muses remind you of people you know personally?
hmmmm, not that i can think of honestly.
8. Out of all your muses which ones share a lot of similarities? Or are they all as different as night and day?
i think all of them are very different from each other! i can't really pick any similarities between any muses of mine
9. Out of all your muses which pair do you feel would make good friends or generally get along?
i think kojiro would get along with my d&d muse callaway if callaway were in a modern setting.
10. Which one of your muses backstories did you have the most fun writing?
my oc rhys! there's a lot i left out of his bio page for roleplay but he's got a fairly big backstory that i made for him when he was a d&d character. but a lot of it didn't feel important to add for here as it was more info for my dm at the time.
11. When it comes to muse aesthetics which ones do you lean towards?
i don't know if there's ever really one aesthetic or vibe i lean towards? because i love fucked up lil guys like handsome jack, adam and dabi but i also love himbos like kojiro but i also love characters like hawks, reki, shinsou, timothy lawrence, etc.

interaction cheat sheet
This post is largely for new mutuals but also just any mutual who wants to start up an interaction with me (maybe we’ve plotted before, or we wrote a thread that ended and haven’t started a new one, or you added a new muse to your multi since we last chatted). I know how daunting things can be when you’re trying to interact with people you’ve never written with before. Doubly so for established blogs, multimuses, etc. Essentially this page is a cheat sheet of sorts on how to best start writing with me, if you’re not the type to be into “come into my askbox and keysmash at me” technique.
GENERAL DISCLAIMER: This is in my rules, but I am slow. I’m not talking few days slow, but more like few weeks-months slow. I’m a working professional with an unpredictable schedule, and I have a chronic illness that can affect my energy and pain levels on a whim. I don’t necessarily have a specific method on how I reply to things, and often just go where the muse takes me. The only certainty I can give here is that I am slow. Because of this, I’m very conscious about other people’s time and energy and will rarely like starter/plotting calls unless the other writer is familiar with my circumstances.
All of that said, I love writing with new people, I love following and getting to know new muses and muns, I scroll my dash like it’s my morning paper to try and enjoy the writing and thoughts of people I haven’t had the chance to interact with. So in order to try and open up for more interactions for people who might have social anxiety, or who are just plain busy like I am, here is this very long-winded spiel.
ASK MEMES - I love memes a lot. I find they’re one of the easiest ways to get the ball rolling on things, and I’m 149% okay with you taking a meme response and turning it into a thread/plot. Do it for one of them, do it for all of them. I don’t care. I love memes because they (generally) throw you right into the middle of the action so feel free to just run with things. Improv! Yay! Literally, you can send me a meme any time, dig back into my tag to find more, slap me in the face with them. You don’t have to wait for me to reblog them. The same mentality applies, in that I am slow to respond to them, but this is often helpful to me to know who wants to engage.
VERSES / PLOTS - My verses page is purposely built to provide a brief background of said verse (or canon if you’re unfamiliar), along with potential plot ideas that could fit in each one. It tells you what fandoms I’m familiar or unfamiliar with, and it is a perpetual work in progress. HEADCANON QUESTIONS. I have a soft spot for these because one of my favorite parts about getting into a character is figuring out their little quirks and experiences, and exploring whatever the source material didn’t show. Call me weird but sometimes I have a hard time just writing headcanon posts, but if you ask me specifics, it magically gets about ten times easier for me to write. Why am I the way I am? I’ve been asking myself this question for almost 30 years, and I still don’t know. But still, this is also a good way to get me to start waxing poetic.
MEME CALLS - I post these periodically but mutuals are always welcome to come to me unprompted and ask me to send them some memes. With my perpetual lurker status, I often miss a lot of ask memes being reblogged, but I’m more than happy to send them. Just give me a sign.

Can you translate storm bringer?
No, I can’t sorry. In fact there are already people doing this so you can check out my resources list for the full Stormbringer translation. Or you can read my summary too!
I have received various kinds of asks and DMs throughout the time, and usually I will ignore some because I don’t want to ruin the mood for anyone who’s reading my blog. But I think it will be a nice if I take this opportunity to explain how I have been running this page since August 2019, and hence you can know why I don’t translate Stormbringer. Feel free to skip it if you are not interested.
I initially didn’t think of doing translation when I founded my Instagram page. However as the page grew, I received many inquiries about the story due to the lack of information and translated materials, so I decided to take the responsibility of translation as well. My original motivation is just analysing BSD, but I realised it is really difficult to have a smooth discussion if the fandom are not informed with the background/details that I have said in my writing, that’s why it inspired me to do translation.
Currently, my main translation work are monthly chapter summaries, Wan! manga and Gaiden manga. I have zero translation/editing experiences before I did these so I did my research and purchased the tools I need. Translation is very fun, not just because I can do my favourite story, but I can also learn Japanese at the same time. It usually take me 1-3 hours to finish one translation, sometime may take longer if Asagiri is too talkative.
I first began with downloading the raw images, and clean it. As my Japanese is still progressing, I often need to check dictionary/Google while writing down the translation. It takes the longest but it’s all worth it. After that, I put it into the correct panels, proof read (sometimes still contains mistake tho I am sorry lmao) and export it to png files.
I still can’t upload yet because I have to make the preview, which you guys see on Instagram/Tumblr, and the cover on Imgur. I thought of just putting a screenshot instead but I realised the manga, especially Gaiden, are not very popular among fandom so it will be great if I do some editing on the preview such that it can catch people’s attention. After finishing the preview and cover page, I can upload to imgur. Then I post the notification post on Tumblr and Instagram, add the link to my Instagram bio and master list on Tumblr. A translation is finally done! Hurray!
In case anyone who doesn’t know, I did a 4 day live stream on my discord server, and translated Stormbringer verbally to the members when the novel was freshly released. I enjoyed it so much because I feel like we’re reading it together and reacted when plot twist occurs. Each stream was roughly 4 hours with 30 minutes break. After finishing the stream, I proceed writing the summary for the part that I read that day. I am so grateful that my friends helped me correcting my first summary.
Different type of translation work varies. Some may be straightforward like Wan!, or some can be very annoying like the Dead Apple Initial Plot as I have used too much time on adjusting the layout. But of course it is all so much fun to do it! Passion can really enable you to do a project despite there is no actual monetary income. And it all thanks to the support I have.
Other than translation, I also do analysis, random shit posts, memes, QnA on Instagram, answering DMs or moderating my discord server, all kinds of things. But I enjoy it! And I am always very grateful and thankful because I used to feel lonely as I couldn’t find anyone in the fandom who shares same opinion as me, but now I do!
I am not writing this whole thing to show off how much I have done (it’s not much anyways ajshdh). Annoying work doesn’t matter if you enjoy it. By writing this, I just want to assert that preserving my freedom on choosing what I am able and willing to do is the energy for me to continue all the work, so I have to turn this request down.
I am sorry if I over-reacted to this asks, but I just got overwhelmed by different messages these days, and I think it is necessary to clarify my situation in order to avoid misconception. I’m currently having spring break, but I am also an uni student so I do have other things to do apart from BSD, just like most of you guys. I don't enjoy pregnancy threads or writing children so I, typically, will steer clear of those types of threads. Spidey Verse: Okay this one I’m still working on/playing with in my mind But basically Stiles gets an Internship at Oz Corp and is bitten by a Radio Active Spider. When he comes back to Beacon Hills he tries to hide it from the pack but also uses it to help them in secret.

hello, friends.
lately, i have been having many feelings about the community. not just this one, but about the rpc in general. i have been keeping quiet about them, but when you keep quiet about something, eventually it becomes all too large to bear. some of you may disagree with me, and that is fine. some of you may even want to unfollow or block me, and that is fine too. i will not chase you down for merely disagreeing with me. but.
i am vastly disappointed in the state of the rpc as of late.
“but karla, why?” you may ask. “the rpc is fun, and i get to make all sorts of friends and write with so many different people!!”
and yes, you’re right! overall, the rpc is a very fun community to be in. it’s very fun to write your own portrayals of different muses, come up with your own ideas, meet other people who may or may not think and portray similarly to your own style.
however.
i think, as a whole, the rpc has become incredibly narcissistic.
why do i say this?
i have been roleplaying and writing here on tumblr since 2012. yes, i am old. but let’s push the fact that i am old compared to most of you aside for a moment.
i have seen quite a few people, in their rules, state something similar to the effect of “if you post too much ooc, i will unfollow and block you.”
if you have read my own rules, you will see that i do not have this rule.
now, everyone is valid in what they put in their rules, and everyone is valid for wanting to cater their own online experience to what they desire it to be. however. a problem that i have seen being developed in the past 3-4 years is that... nobody seems to care about other people. now, of course there are people who care about their writing partners/friends, i’m not saying that everyone is like that, but... the vast majority do not seem to want to hear anything about the mun behind the muses past a little bio page on the blog, and even for some, that might be too much.
when i started roleplaying, this rule overall didn’t really exist as a majority, and if it did, it was on very few blogs. but as i have gone through the years, i’ve seen it pop up on more and more blogs. and my question is... why? why does everyone seem to hate ooc posts now? are we not allowed to demonstrate that we have feelings, hobbies, interests, etc. past roleplay anymore? if someone is having a bad day or a bad mental state time, are they not allowed to confess to it on their blog, if for nothing else than to just get it out? now, some of you may say “yes, that’s bad, and tumblr rpc is no place for it. talk to someone instead of broadcasting it to the whole world.”
i disagree with that.
some of us do not have good support systems outside of tumblr, or really any support system at all. for some of us, coming onto our blogs for a little rant is the only way we can feasibly see to cope with our own bad times without doing something terrible to ourselves. and, honestly? it’s natural to want others to know when we are struggling. some call it “attention-seeking,” sure, but... yes. when you are feeling bad, naturally you want some sort of attention, if not to validate, then to distract for a little bit. the mind is an incredibly fickle creation, and sometimes, it is too big for us to deal with it on our own. and if someone doesn’t have many outlets to deal with it, they will naturally flock to the one that they know is safe, where they can let out their frustrations and depression without much backlash. but with rules like that in place, it becomes a bit more scary, a bit more threatening, even, to even entertain the idea that you are feeling anything but happy.
it is incredibly isolating, and even depressing, and it can even increase depression in those who do not currently have the proper mindset to see past their own demons that the mind has created. and the last thing i personally want is to consciously isolate someone because they’ve committed the “crime” of having a bad day/feeling terrible for some reason that may not even be related to the rpc.
it is natural to need/want to rant about things.
“but this is the rpc, karla. we are all here to write. not to read someone’s bitching on the dash about how they’re feeling so terrible.”
and, yes, we are all here to write. but i think that what the rpc in general has forgotten is that there are real people behind the portrayals and muses that we love so much. real people that have feelings, and sometimes those feelings aren’t the best ones. and i can personally speak from experience when i say that having a little rant and it seemingly being ignored only makes the feelings worse. and, like, i’m not even asking for anyone to send long essays to someone who is feeling bad. even a little like can make someone feel better, because it means that they’ve been seen, that they’ve been heard, that their being here isn’t a waste of time or a burden to other people.
adding onto my statement of “the rpc has become really narcissistic,” something i’ve also observed is that ongoing threads seem to be becoming a thing of the past. ask memes are reblogged 24/7, just about, and often times, i’ll see the same meme five times in a row. it seems that what the majority wants now are just asks that one can craft a brief answer to, post it, and then forget about it until the next one comes in. they can be great for headcanons and such, yes, but... i’ve found that, in my experience, the greatest character development comes from threads. and this just may be my frustration speaking, but threads seem to be long gone, unless they’re crack threads that last for a few hours before everyone gets bored with them. it seems to be all about who reblogs the most memes, who has the most asks in their inbox, that determines how popular somebody is. and i don’t understand that, but maybe i’m just too old and too stuck in the past to do so.
another thing i’d like to talk about is activity. some of us cannot be on tumblr 24/7. i’m not hating on the people that can, more power to you, but some of us have things like school, jobs, other real life commitments that should come before tumblr roleplay. and sometimes we just can’t be on our blogs because time has run away from us and has us devoted to other things. however, what i’ve noticed lately that if you happen to be away from your blog for a week or so, you’re just about instantly forgotten, and when you return, it’s like you never existed at all. this has been a problem i’ve seen for a long time, but i still don’t like it. why should our amount of time being active determine how good of a roleplayer we are? if others “love our portrayals so much,” then why are we forgotten as soon as we’re not constantly posting? in my eyes, if you genuinely enjoy someone’s writing, and they have to go away for some time, you’ll be excited when they’re finally able to come back, if even for only a little bit. and not just “oh, you’re gone, time to unfollow and never speak to you again.” this can also be incredibly isolating, and it creates undue pressure on those of us who just cannot be here 24/7. we feel like we have to fill our queues to stay relevant, and we panic when we don’t have anything to fill the queue with without re-reblogging something.
roleplay isn’t supposed to be stressful, guys. it’s supposed to be fun. it is a hobby. i feel like some of the rpc has forgotten this fact. no one is paying us to be here (unless you have post+ on your rp blog, in which case... why????). we’re here because we want to be, not because someone is forcing us, and we shouldn’t have to feel like we’re being held up to some invisible high standard just because some of us can’t be here all the time.
there is more that i want to talk about, but this post is long enough as it is, so i will leave it how it is right now.

@whipplefilter's answer: I’m not a shipper, and a lot of that probably has to do with the fact that I’m unclear on the concept of romance just like, generally, lol, and shipping tends to imply some kind of romance. But I am very invested in relationships! It just doesn’t really matter to me whether the relationship is romantic or non-romantic, and I really love it when non-romantic relationships get focus and airtime. But I’m certainly not anti-ship! I probably consume more fannish shippy content than non-shippy content, by pure virtue of the fact that there is more shippy content, and I’m perfectly happy about that because if it’s about characters I like—and to have my cake and eat it to, about relationships between characters I like—then I’m probably excited about it.
Personally, I don’t feel strong distinctions, or a strong need to identify distinctions, between what’s a ship and what’s a friendship. I think that’s part of the reason why shipwars always take me by surprise. I don’t feel like a character not being in a romantic relationship with someone automatically devalues the relationship they have. I mean, I think if the character thinks about their relationships in that way, then that’s what happens. Or if the character tends to be a single-minded kind of person, such that they really can’t imagine themselves having multiple intense relationships of varying stripes. These aren’t Bleach examples, but in Nana, Hachi treated her friends like complete shit in pursuit of/focus on her romantic partner. In that case, yeah, she was totally the one devaluing her friendships! Or in Chihayafuru, Taichi ends up heartbroken because Chihaya doesn’t reciprocate his confession of love, and he knows that Chihaya is a one-track-mind kind of person.
By contrast, I see Ichigo as someone with huge capacity to have, well, a mountainload of intense and meaningful relationships, in ways that distinguish him from a lot of "one goal to rule them all" 15-year old manga protagonists. (No shade to single-minded love! I mean… We run a very monogamous and single-minded Bleach blog.) I’d say the same is true of many of his friends.
Beyond that, I do think my level of excitement re: shipping varies in terms of how central romance feels to [my interpretation of] a character. Like, in terms of how important *I feel* their love life *feels to them*. XD (And also how proximal the "things that make this pairing tick" are to the "things that excite me personally about this character.") So like, I am very excited by the idea of Hisagi/most fucking anyone, because, paraphrasing @ippoddity, his desire to make connections and be perceived is both important to him and to my investment in him. I think Hisagi is thirsty for any kind of connection, but I think he’d really like it if some of them involved romance. Also sex.
As a writer, I’m pretty committed to gen, because it’s my fave and there doesn’t tend to be as much of it in fandom spaces and I want it to exist. In one of my other fandoms, I have run a gen fic exchange for over a decade and people are still unclear on what "gen" even is! People constantly confuse gen for "anything that’s not porn" and submit shippy stuff lolol. Though, on the flipside… long long ago in a kingdom far far away, I did once run, like, THE Naruto porn meme of its time. XDDD Which is weird to look back on, but I think that was really because I happen to be pretty good at organizing things and it was a way of hanging out with my horny friends, LOL. Porn itself does nothing for me outside of its potential aesthetic value, and/or its potential to show me things about the characters/their relationship. And while a lot of porn is interested in both those things, if it weren't also very interested in the actual fucking then what would be the point?

@ippoddity's answer: I'm on a similar page as @whipplefilter when it comes to shipping. It's not like I don't ship, because I certainly do have preferences, but I am more invested in (and interested in) relationships (whether they be romantic or not).
I really love that in canon, Ichigo's relationship with Rukia is deep and meaningful, but not necessarily romantic. I really like the idea of soulmates (or twin stars or twin flames or whatever you want to call them), but like, not romantic soul mates. I think what makes IchiRuki so appealing to many people is that they have a close connection. And I'd love to see more of that explored (not just in regards to IchiRuki, but all relationships in general), sans romance.
This isn't to say that I don't also consume shippy fanworks! I do it all the time! I am sort of an equal opportunity shipper, and will try out anything at least once. I feel like I can appreciate a good piece of content, whether it's for something I ship or not. Like GrimmIchi works?? SO MUCH GOOD STUFF OUT THERE (y'all are amazing). It's not necessarily a ship I'm actively sailing on or contributing to, but I'm there for the fun ride. Like my co-blogger said, I also think that Hisagi can be shipped with almost anyone. The poor man is just so desperate for connection and acknowledgement. So if someone is gonna give him a relationship that gives him what he wants, I'm down for it. And something else I've gotten into since starting this blog? Akon/almost anyone. He has so much potential and I've really gotten onto this Akon stan train.
When it comes to shipping or not, for me the most important thing is "does this relationship make them happy?" And that's really all I care about. For example, I think Renji's happiness very much weighs on his connection with Rukia, so I'm happy that he's happy with her (if that makes any sense at all). For the same reason I'm down with IkkaYumi, because I love Yumichika and think he deserves to be happy and I think his relationship with Ikkaku makes him happy. LOOK I JUST WANT HAPPY ENDINGS FOR EVERYONE.
(ngl I was scared of writing this post because I didn't want to get stuck in between some kind of shipwars. The fervor of shipwars honestly baffle me because I do not think I could ever feel so strongly about a ship that I get dragged into hateful discourse, especially for series that ended a long time ago?? But I am also
