reflections on the year, my plans for the future, some studies i did, and wips for the next year all down below for those who are interested

oh dear lord it's been another year. 2024! can you believe it! i don't talk much on this blog because i have a tendency to talk too much, but it's my little new year's treat, so here we go.

RECAP

i started taking drawing "seriously" in December of 2020, starting to do studies and stuff, and each year since i've ramped it up more and more. this year, i did. a lot of studies. there's probably like at least 200 more in my folder now (not including the 300 days worth of gesture drawings i did), with things like painting, faces, feet, poses, etc. anything i was struggling with, i went right into studying it. my art has been mediocre for a pretty long time now, and it's only the past few months where i feel i'm starting to get the hang of it, which is exciting!

more importantly, i started posting a lot more on this blog. i really like documenting my progress, looking on where i was before and seeing how i've improved. everytime i draw some fanart, im like, oooghh i can't wait to show my (: followers (: !! lots of locked tomb art of course. i've been trying to nail the energy of the different characters, which is why i enjoy books so much, because you get a lot of creative control. drawing ianthe is my fav of course, cause she's my lil nasty, but also i enjoyed doing designs for characters i hadnt thought about before, like judith.

in addition to the locked tomb, we had some new fandoms that got brief moments in between iantheposting: Fear and Hunger, Postal, Faith The Unholy Trinity, and a couple of old ones too, like We Have Always Lived In The Castle and The Merciless.

i posted about 115 times this year, although most of those are shitposts LOL i love posting stuff on my blog and showing people my stuff <3

THE FUTURE

my plans? do more ianthe art, of course. ill be working on more studies, probably going to work on developing a style, and figuring out how to paint. i'd like to do more actually finished pieces, but let's be honest, it'll still be mostly shitpost doodles. i'd like to do more weird stuff. i've been messing around with some gore and NSFW near the end of the year, and it's fun to draw for me. i like idk art that evokes some type of emotion, especially discomfort, and so i find that type of art fun to do, so if you don't enjoy what i've done thus far in that direction, perhaps this isn't the blog for you. i really like horror media, and so i want to do some stuff like that too.

for specifics, i like western type art, a comic book-esque style i'd like to aim for. but i'd like it to be a little more. weird with it. i find comic books often draw all the characters the same, and make all the characters traditionally attractive, and that's boring to me so i'll have to work on finding a way to keep things weird, while also appealing in a graphic sense. the worst thing my art could be is bland and forgettable.

locked tomb wise... more tridentarii art. need to be really weird with it. i have lots of wips planned, like i have a whole page worth of just thumbnails, so i wanna get some of those done. also i had a few animatics i wanted to do. mostly stupid shit, once i learn how to do animatics, then we'll do actual serious ones. id also like to do more comics. i have some comics storyboarded out with my girlies, i like telling a story so, need practice on that. id also like to develop a way to consistently draw them, for convenience sakes, so i'm not fighting for my life every single time i draw these characters. oh and i wanna do some outfit stuff. i draw them in like. generic clothes everytime but i'd like to come up with a few actual outfit designs, that i can just reference back to. and, of course, more shitposts. lots of stupid shit in 2024 for sure. there was something else i wanted to say here but i can't remember.

ART

oki enough rambling, here's some IMAGES for yall to look at i know everyone loves to look at images.

began this year by warming up with gesture sketches (almost) every day. i started with 20 poses (30 seconds each), and then in november i was like. ugh my hands suck i need to get better at hands, so i switched to doing 10 hand sketches (60 seconds each). i want my art to be very energetic so it's important that i do these !!

anatomy studies of extremities because i'm flopping at those -_- ive gotten better with hands but they're still a struggle. i hate feet tho still

need to get my painting game up. i joined an art forum to get advice, and the biggest suggestion i got was working on my values, so i did various value studies. also lots of faces because my faces flop !!

random doodles to work on drawing from imagination. on my "sketchbook" pages, as i like to call them, i'm usually pretty loose and messy, since the point is just to be drawing so often these will suck, but that's fine. i don't think very much when i draw faces on here either so they end up being in my Instinctive Style i suppose you could say

ianthe wip. i was planning to do a few drawings based on the idea of her having Missing Arm nightmares, but the lineart was intimidating to me so i haven't worked on this one more yet /: also there was going to be a toontown gay homosexual toxic yuri comic that i was gonna put here with it but the page is way too long so umm guess that'll have to wait.

Boruto End Game Predictions

Now that we are 6 chapters deep in Two Blue Vortex, I want to make predictions on how it's going to end (01/18/2024) and see if I'm right 5-10 years from now.

Boruto x Sarada or/and Boruto x Mitsuki becomes endgame - Now, what do I mean by this? I really see Boruto as a rolling stone. Therefore, I imagine that there's a strong possibility that Boruto x Sarada have a kid together. However, since Sarada wants to be the Hokage and Boruto wants to be the Shadow Hokage, I imagine that Boruto will not be spending a lot of time in the village. Now, I don't see a world where Mitsuki doesn't go where Boruto goes. Therefore, these two would become the ultimate end game, and yes they'd have a child of their own. How? Through Orochimaru's engineering and test tube nursery. Boruto x Mitsuki's relationship would be intimate, but I'm not entirely sure if it'd be romantic or sexual. Think Gai x Kakashi but less weird.

Sarada becomes the Hokage & Boruto becomes the shadow Hokage - Sarada becoming the 8th or 9th Hokage is pretty straightfoward IMO. I don't know if Konohamaru will ever become Hokage. The strength he displays in the coming chapters will outline if he's strong enough to become Hokage. If Konohamaru and Shikamaru both become official Kages, that would make Sarada the 10th Hokage, but she'd be a Hoakge all the same. Discussing Boruto now, though Boruto enjoyed his life in the village, I imagine that in his new OP position that Boruto will see the best use of his abilities to be outside of the village, protecting the world for Otsutsuki just as Sasuke had done. However, being far more social than Sasuke and being more like his father in this regard, I don't imagine Boruto to lonewolf his Shadow Hokage tenure.

Naruto is rescued from the Daikokuten and becomes the Ten Tails Jinchuriki or the New Sage of Sixth Path - I imagine that Naruto will get stronger, because of the void within him left by Karama. He will then attain a higher state of being such as becoming the Next Sage of Sixth Path and then ascend to a higher level of being in order to protect both the earth and art of Ninshu.

Sasuke and everyone else are rescued from the Divine Trees. Sasuke regains his Rinnegan and gains new abilities - I have no idea what Sasuke would do after this happens, but hopefully he just settles down and becomes a family man now that he has someone else to replace him as the shadow Hokage. Traditionally, when Sasuke dies Naruto and he are supposed to reincarinate, but I imagine in this case they both reach a higher state of being. Maybe Sasuke guards the a new moon that seals Shiba Outsutsuki.

Eida dies, Daemon dies, and Amado dies - I'm not convinced that Eida will die, but I see Daemon and Amado as OP annoyances that the Leaf Village is going to want to dispose of as soon as they get the chance. At this point, Eida is a pretty decent person, so I imagine that Eida will find a new love interest. Maybe this love interest in male, but... She's probably not going to run around fighting Otsutsuki with Boruto (her one weakness), she's definitely not going to continue to simp for Kawaki because he's an asshole, so let's go gay. She end game becomes paired with Sarada or Sumire.

No one regains their memories. Omnipotence is not reversed - Boruto permits Kawaki to continue to live his life in the Leaf Village as the adored son. Only the people who need to know remember that Boruto is an Uzumaki like Himawari, Mitsuki, Sarda, Sumire, Konohamaru, Kakashi, and all of Team 10. Boruto has his big hero moment that puts Boruto back into the good graces of the village just enough to be the shadow hokage in peace.

Mitsuki is revealed to be the son of Orochimaru x Toneri and undergoes his own Otsutsukitication - Now, people were predicting this two years ago until Eida arrived in Konoha. Once Mitsuki fell for Omnipotence, everyone was like "Oh no! Mitsuki is not an Otsutsuki", but here's the thing... there's no happenstance in animation. Imagery is crucial in art and literature l, and therefore the similarities between Toneri and Mitsuki are far too great to be ignored. Their aesthetics are almost one to one in both base mode and sage mode and Mitsuki is obsessed with the moon. It might be that Mitsuki was affected by Omnipotence for the same reason that Mitsuki struggled to maintain his sage mode. His Otsutsukication is not complete. His body is not strong enough yet to handle all the abilities he has within him and he's growing and maturing into said abilities. It might also be that because Mitsuki possess snake sage mode at the same time as Otsutsuki qualities that Mitsuki's says mode interfers with his alien abilities.

Boruto, Sarada, and Mitsuki all have snake summons - With the intro of Koshin Koji this one is a little more confusing, since it now makes sense for a boruto to have a toad summon. However, we've already seen in the anime that Borutonhasbmade a snake summon contract before. I don't know if it's still effective though. Then Mitsuki uses snakes all the time and he's the son of Orochimaru, so of course he has a snake summon. This lady one is tricky, because Sarada hasn't been trained by her father. However, I just don't see Sarada summoning the slug. Sarada has no talent as a medical ninja according to the anime. However, the anime and manga contradict each other. So, I'm going to guess that Sarada will also summon a snack. Especially since, Team 7 does have a lot of overlapping abilities. For example, all three of them have lightning release. Two of them know purple lightning.

I also predict that Sasuke will die. I don't have a Rationale for this yet. I just feel it. A beloved character has to die sometimes. Just ask Jiraya.

I just found your Ready As I'll Ever Be SVTFOE video on Youtube and can I just say?

STUNNING!

It gave me chills.

I had never heard the song before, so I went to find the original Tangled version and, to be honest? I love yours so much more! Your animatic really captures a certain kind of feeling that the original doesn't (or maybe I just know the SVTFOE characters better, either way...) I LOVE IT!

I've watched it five times so far and am about to go watch it again. Amazing work!

(Oh right, this is an ask isn't it... can I ask what studio you use for putting the frames together? I'm just curious.)

I use Toon Boom Storyboard Pro to make the animatic and Adobe Premiere Pro to finalise it and add any effects.

Since some of you want to see it, here is my ECU (Elsen Cinematic Universe) concept!

So uhhh basically

These guys?

I'm working to give them little personalities :) Idk when I first started making these little dudes I didn't have the idea of them being the specific Elsen in-game, if that makes sense? Basically these were originally just Elsen OCs lol. But! Now I'm trying to kinda go more towards that idea. Of course I'll probably make more Elsen just on their own. So uh lemme introduce you to the guys I have so far! Warning, spoilers for the game OFF, which should've been kinda obvious, but I can't blame you for thinking otherwise.

Elsen 1 and 2!

So these fellas are actually inspired by this animatic from the OFF animator themself! Elsen 2 is a very anxious Elsen from Zone Two who is really scared of... Well, almost anything! Luckily, his very best friend (and only person he's interacted with in years) Elsen 1 tries to support him in any way that he can. He's from Zone One, though, so he travels from the different zones often. Elsen 1 can't do everything flawlessly and teach his friend how to be the most confident guy, but he can damn well try! The biggest problem in their relationship, though, is that Elsen 1 is constantly haunted by the anxieties and fears that something will happen to Elsen 2 when he's not around, which causes him to be on edge all the time. His other friend Elsen 6, however, is decent at calming him down. These two both count as my second favorites!

Elsen 3 and 4!

These guys were inspired by an animation I made (hasn't been released yet sorry) where two Elsen play the balloon game together! Elsen 3 is a big chess nerd, and literally can play it all day. He and Elsen 4 love hanging out at The Park together, even if Elsen 4 has a better chance at winning each game every time. They just really like each other's company. Probably why they're best friends. If they were dating I wouldn't be surprised. I should really expand on their characters more ngl they're seeming a bit too simple right now.

Elsen 5 and 6!

These guys are put on the same page, but only for organizing purposes, they don't actually know each other lol. Elsen 5 is the Elsen working at the rollercoaster in Zone Two! He's a Zacharie simp fan of Zacharie's work, as the latter made most of Zone Two entirely. When Elsen 5 isn't dreaming about the day he'll meet Zacharie, he just works his job at the rollercoaster. Elsen 6 works in the plastic mailing sector of Zone One, but he also is in charge of making sure Dedan isn't going on a violent rampage. One day a bunch of Elsen in Zone One peer pressured him into checking up on the furious guardian, and he's kept the responsibility since. In the great words of my best friend, "he's Dedan's unintentional bestie". He also has a little satchel filled with containers of meat, wristwatches, and Pedalo ride tickets just in case Dedan gets pissed and needs something to calm down. Outside of Dedan, Elsen 6 enjoys spending time with Elsen 1 and 7. Elsen 6 is probably my favorite so far because of how silly he is!!!

Elsen 7 and 8!

These two Elsen also don't know each other either lol, though if they did, I don't think they'd get along very well. Elsen 7 is the only Elsen in Zone One to have all the jobs there. He works in the mines for four hours, then works in the cow barns for another four, then works at the plastic postal service for another four, and then works at the meat bottling section of Alma for four hours before having the rest of the day to do whatever he wants (if it's still daytime when he gets to his house). It's tiring work, but he's fine enough with it. Not like he has any dreams or aspirations. Well, depends on what you call a goal. Though, trying to get any higher personnel to even look at him wasn't really a well thought out goal from the start and he only kept himself in the same four jobs because he saw no other purpose in life. Elsen 8 works in the sugar factories in Zone Three, and oh boy does he suffer. By working there he's discovered exactly how sugar is made and he hates it. Probably the only Elsen in that zone who isn't addicted to the stuff. He dreads every waking moment because he doesn't want to stay in his job, but doesn't have a choice at all. Maybe the sugar addicted Elsen were right. Maybe sugar does make it easier to ignore every fault in reality.

Elsen 9 and 10!

Y'know the old time-y art that appears when each element is explained? Elsen 9 was the guy behind those! Well, in the OFF universe anyway. You get what I mean. But anyway he absolutely craves attention and validation. Any support is good enough for him! He will probably try to be your friend if you merely smile at him! Also I actually haven't decided on where he lives yet because he's mostly a traveling artist, but I think he lives in Zone One. May be subject to change though. Elsen 10 became a real sweetheart the day he realized how sad everything felt. He thought that no one was getting enough appreciation for all their hard work, and with the help of Elsen 12, he started being a really nice person. He always tries to work his hardest in Zone Three, and makes sure to give some appreciation to his coworkers as well! What a guy!

Elsen 11 and 12!

These guys actually know each other! Yippee! Elsen 11 was from Zone Two and was REALLY worried about safety. So worried in fact that he was scared that his necktie would choke him, so he took it off for that reason. Unfortunately, he also got kicked out of the residential area of Bismark because no one could tell he was an Elsen anymore without his tie. Damn. He moved to Zone Three — albeit very reluctantly — and got a job there. He didn't have a home until Elsen 12 let him in his own. This is kinda where I shift into Elsen 12's description! Basically Elsen 12 was an absolute saint and loves everyone. He was entirely content with his life, but he still wanted to be a good person. He helped Elsen 10 be a better person like him, and taught Elsen 11 how to face his fears. He's the glue that holds the three of them together! But, unfortunately, he one day fell onto the tracks of the Zone Three tramway and got into a bit of an accident with a certain black and white batter. He hasn't been seen since.

So uhhh yeah!!! That's my whole ECU as of rn! Of course I'm going to be making more Elsen in the future, and I'll be posting them here when I do! I know this little thingy isn't going to get really popular, especially since the OFF fandom is a bit dead rn, but still feel free to make your own ECU content if you want I guess, all art, fanfictions, and even more Elsen characters are welcome by me!
