Hiya! Gosh, I hope I'm doing this correctly (and I'm also not too late!). For requestober: Strangels!Edgar grooming his wings? Or attempting to take care of them. I feel like it would be a very tiring ordeal trying to sort out those wings, haha. Very big and very fluffy indeed! I hope you're doing well :^)

WIP Wednessday~~~
Hey howdy all, @ejunkiet has tagged me to share a wip this fine wednesday morning afternoon.
I've been drawing up Vega again because I got an idea that if he space, why no twinkle? And I want to see if I can do some super basic animation-y stuff on it.
The problem is I have made him WAY too pretty, help
Tumblr media
I've actually gotten a little farther and laid some flats, but there's a way to go yet if I want to try to animate it o3o
Let's see tags tags... A lot of folk have already been tagged, so uhm @horchatabun @starrypawz @elemenepee @ardellian @mihqorio ? If you don't have anything or don't want to absolutely no worries, as usual it's completely optional, the lowest of the low pressure/no pressure o3o

𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐠𝐚𝐦𝐞 | 𝐦𝐢𝐠𝐮𝐞𝐥 𝐨’𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐚
the tension between you and miguel rises to an all-time high —a ficlet featuring a grumpy miguel and a flirty, distracted spider-girl. pre across the spider-verse but contains spoilers. fem!reader, 1k
˚ʚ♡ɞ˚
Miguel has asked you multiple times to leave him alone while he's working. The strike force can't run itself (or so he claims —Margo and Lyla seem plenty capable, in your eyes) and he needs time and solitude to organise the protection of canon events, and—
"Blah, blah, blah," you say, dropping your voice to a soft, teasing melody as you skirt around his frankly audaciously jacked chest.
"Don't blah, blah, blah me," Miguel says. You'd be intimidated if you weren't so happy to mess with him. "I'm not kidding around."
Okay, maybe you are intimidated. That just makes messing with him more fun.
The room he operates from, as you've so fondly monikered The Office, is in organised chaos, and much too dark. You drag a lone chair toward his control panel and set yourself down in front of all his screens and computers.
"Ooh," you hum, reaching for an unlabelled switch with a purposeful slowness.
Predictably, Miguel slams his hand over yours, yanking your chair back with an annoyed, "No."
"Come on, Miguel. What harm could I possibly do?"
"You could–"
"Topple the multiverse?" you suggest. "I've heard."
"You could turn off every member of the Society's DMW. That's what that does. Potentially endangering each of their lives by stranding them in unfamiliar dimensions, and preventing them from correcting canon events."
You feel bad for teasing him when you see the look on his face, anger and exhaustion and the slimmest allowance of defeat. It must be tough to lead the Spider-Society. Tougher to micromanage more than half of its members.
Pulling your hand from under his, you cross your arms over your stomach and give him an apologetic frown. "Sorry, Miguel."
Evidence of his sweet spot for you lines his expression, softening his sharp jaw and the stoic set of his brow. It's gone as quick as it came, and his mask falls back into place. He turns away from you as though pretending you aren't there and scans one of his holographic screens, his face glowing with a yellow-orange haze.
Miguel has to tolerate you, because you're a Spider-Girl. Though you've never called yourself that aloud, and you're not sure anyone else has, either, it's an undeniable truth. You were bitten by a radioactive spider that gave you super mutant abilities, though yours aren't as potent as others. You're not especially strong, you probably couldn't stop a bus with your bare hands, but you're smart. You haven't saved the world or anything, but you lost your Uncle Ben. You paid the toll.
Every spider person has lost someone. Miguel seems to have lost more than that.
"You know," you mumble, kicking the ground lightly to make your chair spin on its axle, "I've been thinking…"
"That's never good."
"Why do we wear our suits here?" you ask, spinning for a second time, the room moving past your eyes in flashes. "It seems performative."
"Ah, I can answer that. Some of us work when we're here."
You wrinkle your nose at his deadpan and kick the floor again, spinning so fast it makes you laugh. "What did you say? I can't hear you from your high horse– woah!"
Miguel grabs the back of your chair, bringing you to a sudden and firm stop. You blink hoping it'll assuage the dizziness between your eyes, and when it doesn't work you keel forward, muttering, "Woah, I'm gonna die."
"You won't die."
"How do you know?" you ask.
"You're under my watch, aren't you?"
"I knew you liked me," you say. "Oh, I don't feel well."
"You brought it on yourself."
You catch your breath. When you feel okay enough to stand you almost trip, and Miguel doesn't bother pretending that he had any intention of stopping you from landing flat on your face. The you before the spider bite would've wiped out. This you giggles and holds Miguel's elbow for a second while you plant your feet.
"Okay, boss-man," you ask, looking up at the unnaturally high screen he's investigating. "What are we doing today?"
"I'm supervising a task force operation on Earth-31913. You're going home."
"Miguel," you say, not sure if you want to flirt with him or piss him off. He looks incredibly pissed off already, so you choose flirtation. "Have I told you how handsome you look this evening?"
He doesn't react. His hands don't so much as shift where they're akimbo on his hips.
"You really have the most handsome eyes," you continue, weaving around his arm to stand in front of him. You have to crane your neck to see them. "Sulky. Do I really have to go home? I'd rather stay here with you."
He looks down his nose at you. "Yeah?" he asks quietly, his voice rough as hewn stone.
"Yeah," you say, taking a small step back.
"And do what?"
You mirror his stance, hands on your hips. Your suit isn't form fitting like his, doesn't showcase nearly so much lean muscle, but you like it. You'd chosen a simple black ensemble to match the spider who bit you with a pinky purple heart over your stomach. Miguel had asked about it once, just once, when you'd first met and he had no idea how much of a problem for him you were going to become.
Why there?
Why do you think? you'd asked, giving him a sticky-sweet smile.
Forget I asked.
He lifts a hand to your chin, pinching it between two deft fingers. You're lucky he isn't wearing his gloves; his claws would pierce your jaw.
"What do you want to do?" he asks, again so quietly. "If you stay?"
"I could help with the task force."
"That's what you want to do?"
You flush with heat but refuse to let him know how you're feeling. Your heart bumps against your ribs, breath caught in your throat as he tilts your head up, as he leans down.
"No," he says near your lips, "that's not it."
"I could help you?" you offer.
Something flashes in his eyes. You hesitate to call it lust. It reminds you of a cat with a mouse in it’s clutches, only his pupils are blown, black and inky and wide as dimes.
"You want to help me?" he asks, his lips an inch, half of that from yours.
You nod minutely. "Yes," you say under your breath.
His hand moves to your cheek. He leans in closer and closer, until there's a hair's width of air between his mouth and yours, the tips of your noses bent together. His breath fans over your bottom lip and it's hot. You swear you can feel his heart as his chest presses to yours. He lingers there for an endless handful of seconds, silently egging you on.
You call his bluff and refuse to close the distance.
Miguel pushes you away from him, far from cruel but certainly not sweet. "I have a tower of paperwork you can file," he says.
"Here I thought you were finally going to bite my head off," you hum. "You're a sore loser, Miguel."
"And you're my pest," he says, holding your gaze for a half-second too long. He turns away. "Lyla? Arrange the recounts from the last canon event for Spider-Girl's perusal, please."
"So you've remembered I'm here?" Lyla asks wryly.
You don't mind the paperwork. You sign each one with a winky face and a pink gel pen heart, knowing Miguel will go over them all again, and knowing he'll grow angrier and angrier with each heart.
He'll kiss you and mean it one day. You just have to play the waiting game.
˚ʚ♡ɞ˚
thanks so much for reading, I hope you enjoyed!

listen ok I know shit is dire in CAS land (by @somerandomdudelmao) but I had this stupid idea and it's a slow day at work and I type fast so here you go I didn't proofread this at all
I'm sorry I made it silly
Massive spoilers if you haven't read the new CAS update
...
"I can fix it," is a much easier thing to say than to do. Casey's thinking that as he takes long, quick strides through the lair, turning the problem over in his head as fast as he can. He hopes Uncle Tello can't hear the parts of his thoughts that are in a panic, but based on their conversation before he probably can.
Uncle Tello doesn't say anything about it, and Casey kind of wishes he would, just for the reassurance that he's still there.
He's so absorbed in his thoughts he doesn't notice Donnie (the younger Donnie, the physical Donnie) standing in front of him until it's too late and he's already collided with his back. Coffee spills everywhere, though thankfully it only splashes his plastron where he can't get burned.
Younger Donnie whirls, something distinctly murderous in his eye that feels so weird and wrong directed at Casey. It cools only slightly when Donnie processes it wasn't one of his brothers bumping into him, and somehow that feels just as weird, that Donnie has to readjust his feelings to accommodate the unfamiliarity. (He's not family, not to this Donnie.)
"Is something chasing you?" Donnie snaps.
"Uh... no-"
"Is there a fire?"
"No, but-"
"Do you need glasses?"
"I don't... think so?"
"Then watch where you're going!"
He spins on his heel and marches off, toward the kitchen to get more coffee, Casey assumes. For a moment he's left too off kilter and dumbfounded to remember what he was doing.
Then Uncle Tello's voice in his head startles him out of it. What just happened?
Oh, uh... I ran into the other version of you.
Ran into?
Literally. I spilled his coffee.
Ah, and he didn't take it well.
And Casey knows he shouldn't stop for this. Casey knows they may be on limited time and he has to fix this and Uncle Tello shouldn't have to listen to his whining about things that don't matter.
But he's been holding in so many feelings for so long and even if it's just in his head, hearing his uncle's (dad's) voice makes it rush out of him before he can stop it.
I don't think he likes me very much. I touched his shell the other day and he snapped at me. I got mad at him when he touched your tech and that made him mad, too. I don't know how to talk to him.
He doesn't really know how to talk to any of them, is the thing. It used to be the easiest thing in the world, and now it's a wall he hasn't yet learned how to scale.
He can feel his thoughts spiraling against his will. He doesn't have time for this, but the grief and the lack of sleep and the lack of easy affection are all mixing together with the weirdness of it all into a dangerous Molotov cocktail of emotions and he's not sure what will light the fuse.
Casey Jr, says Uncle Tello's voice.
Uncle Tello?
Do you want to see something really funny?
Casey can't help but make a strangled noise at the back of his throat, one that isn't a laugh but isn't a cry either. Something funny?
Yeah. Trust me, it'll be hilarious. Go to my lab.
Casey hesitates. He doesn't let me in there without him...
I feel confident I outrank him. Wait, how old is he?
Sixteen.
Ahhh, that explains it. I know I'm an absolute delight now, but at that age I could be a real pill.
It startles an actual laugh out of Casey. Without arguing further, he rushes to Donnie's lab, quick before he can finish brewing his coffee.
How do I get in?
Is this the subway?
Yeah.
Okay, there's a manual override for the voice lock hidden in one of the wall panels, should be... three to the left, middle of the door. Give that a good knock. Shave and a haircut~
Casey does as directed, and the panel slides back, revealing a flat, glossy keypad.
What's the access code? he asks, feeling like they're on some secret mission now. Maybe it doesn't fall into what people in this time consider normal, but to Casey this is standard stuff. He falls into the rhythm of it like a well loved song.
Oh one one four twenty one twenty seven, says Uncle Tello.
Casey punches it in and the door slides open. He slips inside and hits the button to close and lock the door behind him. Donnie still hasn't returned; the mission is proceeding as planned.
Wasn't that the code for one of the weapons lockers in the old- at base?
Yes, it was. Poor security protocol to reuse codes, I know, but I'm partial to that one.
What is it?
Atomic Lass's birth date. Uncle Tello pauses, then adds, Has he shown you any of the old Atomic Lass episodes of Jupiter Jim?
Uh, no...
Ah, continuing to fail my already low expectations, Teen Tello. Never mind, we'll worry about that later on.
Later on. Right, they shouldn't be doing this, they should be trying to fix Uncle Tello, they should be-
To my computer, Casey Jr! I can't type so you'll have to do it for me.
Uncle Tello's voice pulls him out of his reverie, and he hurries to do as he's told.
Uncle Tello walks him through passwords and then through navigating the OS. It's old and out of date compared to what they had in the future (Donatello's custom OS, better than the hacks at Apple and Microsoft, or so he said), but when Casey had called it old and out of date Donnie had gotten mad about that, too.
Ada Lovelace, this is old, says Uncle Tello's voice now, and incredibly Casey laughs again.
But they find what he's looking for and then input a series of commands into the command line. Casey isn't familiar with all of them, but if he had to guess, they just sent a video from late 2019 to every device in the lair.
Alright, mission accomplished, time to retreat, says Uncle Tello's voice, and he hurries out of the lab, just in time to hear a ping from the phone in his pocket.
He pulls it out and watches the video. It's Donnie, only slightly younger than the teen Casey now lives with, adjusting the camera before grinning and posing in front of it. He's in his lab, though a different one than the one here in the subway. He looks cocky.
He moves further back from the camera so his entire body is framed in its lens, then steps onto a skateboard. He glides in a circle for a moment, then jumps to try and do some kind of trick. Casey doesn't know the name of it, but what he does know is that Donnie's feet get caught in his board, and he ends up tumbling to the floor, crashing in an undignified heap, arms splayed out and face smooshed against the concrete.
It shouldn't be funny.
(It's pretty funny.)
It seems the others echo this sentiment, because suddenly Casey can hear laughter erupting from elsewhere in the lair.
"OMIGOSH! Barry, you gotta watch this!"
"HAHAHAHA BRO ATE SHIT!"
"Hah... Don't worry Donnie, I'm sure you'll get it next ti-hahahahaha!"
There's the sound of scurrying feet, and then Donnie slides into the hall, glaring at Casey who forgot he should be moving away from the crime scene.
"YOU!" he screeches.
Casey freezes. What is he supposed to say? What excuse does he have? The you in my head told me to do it? Yeah right.
Casey does the only sensible thing and turns to run.
Casey Jr?
Uncle Tello!?
What's happening now?
The other you is after me!
Oh. Well. Better run fast.
Casey turns on the speed, sprinting down the corridor and toward the only exit he knows, Donnie hot on his trail.
Why is every younger version of you so scary!?
Oh please, there's no way that scrawny, barely pubescent mess is scary. Have you ever heard his voice crack?
...Well, yeah...
See? Hilarious. And we didn't even have to pull up my browser history.
Okay, but none of this helped us fix anything.
Ah well. One problem at a time.

This is a bit embarrassing but I’m a big fan of your work and lately it’s been filling up my mind—
Soap or Gaz coming home to their cute petite wife without her knowing and seeing her in lingerie she wanted to surprise them with but her breasts don’t fill up the bra’s cups completely so they swoop in and just give their wife a big heap of praise and body worship before she can get insecure
(fem!reader, mdni 18+)
i feel you anon, bc same. as members of the itty bitty titty committee, we band together. just an fyi tho that soap AND gaz have annual vip memberships
Tumblr media
sounding like a broken record over here, but literally. soap LOVES titties, doesn't matter the size! he gets rock hard seeing you wearing anything that lets him get a peek at them. he's observant, saw the transaction made on his card. so he knew what to expect when he got home: to see his pretty little wifey all dolled up for him. in fact, i'm p sure he pounces on you the moment he gets home. was too excited to see you so he didn't bother letting you know he was only a couple minutes out. finds you easily in the bedroom and you think someone's broken in by the way he bursts through the door and goes to pin you down on the bed in the midst of you trying it on.
"well, well, well. what do we have 'ere, eh, bonnie?" you try to push him off because you're so embarrassed right now, caught in a compromising position. he sees the way the cups of the top jut out and reveal your nipples beneath. eyes darkening and licking his lips, he leans in to kiss at your collarbones. he keeps a careful eye on you and traces his tongue in between the valley of your breasts. teeth baring into a grin at the sight of your flushed face, he teases you by taking the top of your bra in between his teeth to peel it back and reveal some more of your tits to him. except instead of immediately latching onto it now, he kisses your tit through the cloth. starts teasing you through the lingerie and moaning out at the taste. you don't have to worry about the cups not being flat against you! he'll press it down so that it'll stick using his spit as he continues sucking and kissing at you through the now ruined cloth.
Tumblr media
on the other hand, there's gaz who sneaks in on you. could hear you huffing and throwing a fit because your suit is too loose around the top, it complements your waist and your ass just fine, but you're upset that it's not what you expected. you get surprised hearing your husband calling out your name down the hall, having not heard him come in the house at all or see the text that said he was on his way. he pauses in the doorway and it's too late to try to hide yourself with a coat or a blanket so you opt for just turning around. he sees the way your arms are crossed over your chest and he grins. eyes turn predatory as he stalks towards you and wraps his arms around your waist, whispers in your ear "whatcha got on for me, darling?"
he's teasing at the hem of your top, where it barely covers your midriff. he gently traces his fingers underneath it to tease over your ribs and just under your breasts. soap def has a way of slipping his hands into well guarded places because before you know it, he's shoved his hands up under your arms and your tits, practically throws them out of the way to make space for him. starts squeezing 'em and rolling your nipples between his fingers. don't worry if you can't fill up the space. the gap is the perfect fit for his hands!! will keep kissing at your neck and pawing at your tits to the point where you're getting so needy for him. he pinches and plays so roughly that he ends up stretching the material, you can hear some of the seams snapping when he pulls back to slap your tit and then soothe it over with his warm hand. the top is now way bigger than it initially was... but it's all according to plan because now he can keep his hands there without much restriction!

Dude in my opinion, the moonwater couple are like tidy couple? Do you get what i mean? Like they will keep everything at their place amd everything clean?
What will be their reaction if reader shows them this video and ask them if they would do the same to reader as a lesson?
It'll be cool if it can be a fic. But idk if your request is open. I just immediately went to this ask without checking it first
omg first of all - fuck that guy fr fr lolllll. Also that is such a sweet headcanon to have about moonwater - what does everyone else think? I totally agree with Regulus being super organized and tidy, but I'm not sure about Remus? Perhaps if he was with Regulus then yes, he'd be pretty tidy.
poly!moonwater x fem!reader who has hair ties and bobby pins and wears makeup
It was sort of comical the way that the three of you created some sort of spectrum of tidiness in your relationship.
Regulus was by far the tidiest of the bunch. As a matter of fact, if you didn’t see Regulus haunting the halls of your flat, you’d be hard-pressed to believe another person lived with you at all. He was so tidy, in fact, that he would often follow behind you as you tidied in order to re-tidy, though he never made a big deal about it.
“Don’t worry, mon amour, I’ll handle it. You go sit.”
He was simply just a tidy person – something that likely followed him into adulthood from his home life as a child – and he, as well as you and Remus, readily accepted that.
Remus was less tidy than Regulus but not nearly as liberal as yourself. Sometimes, you’d find Regulus picking up the odd stray half-finished cup of tea, or books that were turned face down and never returned to, but that was roughly the extent of Remus’ mess.
Remus was what you called a piler – he had various piles of things throughout your shared home that may look random or out of place to the layperson but seemed to be the pique of organization in Remus’ mind. He was also the kind of person who would clean as he cooked and wouldn’t sit down to eat until the kitchen was cleaned up behind him.
Couldn’t be you, however.
You were sure you seemed like chaos personified compared to your two boyfriends, always leaving a ‘trail of destruction’ behind you as Regulus once (lovingly) referred to it as. There was evidence of you everywhere – hair ties, bobby pins, half-finished drinks, books, magazines, and the likes. No one would have to wonder if you were home from work, seeing as your shoes were hastily tossed aside, your keys thrown onto the console table rather than hanging in their rightful place, your bag hung over the back of a chair, and your hair tie sitting on the kitchen table – all screaming “your girlfriend’s home!”
And though your boyfriends have occasionally taken the piss for your untidiness, it had never escalated to anything more than a “hey dove, can you come rinse your paint brushes that you’ve left in the sink” or a “amour, I don’t know where your makeup goes, can you come put this away?”
So, when you saw this video on Tiktok, you couldn’t help but ask them if they’d ever consider doing this to you to teach you a lesson.
“‘Teach you a lesson’!?” Regulus repeated incredulously, already looking horrified and you hadn’t even shown him the video yet.
“Why…why does he have a hammer?” Remus asked cautiously.
Suffice it to say, the boys did not like the video.
“I’m not watching this.” Regulus spat and stood from his spot on the couch next to Remus rather abruptly. You momentarily felt bad for showing it to him, knowing that signs of even mild aggression like this could be triggering to someone who grew up in a tense household, but felt better when he turned to glower darkly at you, knowing then that his ire was only half-hearted.
“Dovey,” Remus pleaded, his face looking horrified as he watched the man smash his girlfriend’s makeup. “Why…oh my god. If I ever do something like that to you, you fucking leave my arse, alright? Punch me right in the face whilst you’re at it, too.”
“Not me.” Regulus added, not making it very far after refusing to watch the video and leaning against the back of the couch to continue watching it over Remus’ shoulder. “Just kill me; put me right out of my misery if I insist on being such a miserable wanker.”
You snorted a laugh as both boys scoffed derisively at the “I heart you” written on the mirror, Regulus looking thoroughly disgusted and Remus still seemingly horrified.
“Oh, he loves her. I guess that makes it alright then.” He muttered sarcastically. “What’s this woman’s address? Tell her we’re sending her a gift card to…. what’s the store that you like?”
“Sephora.”
“Sephora; tell her we’re sending her a gift card to Sephora.”
You chuckled and leaned further into Remus’ shoulder. “You have to keep watching, he says he’s going to take her shopping for all new stuff after.”
This caused a pained groan to rip through Regulus’ throat as he began muttering angrily in French and finally wandering away. “Idiot absolu. On dit que ce n'est pas tous les hommes, mais il y a des hommes comme ça. Je ne peux même pas les appeler des hommes, plutôt des putains de bambins.”
“Why would you show me this?” Remus turned to look at you, his bottom lip jutting out comically. “This is making me so sad.”
“I wanted to know if you would resort to something like this because of my mess!” You defended.
“Oh, dove. You’re not messy, you’re just not as tidy as Mr. Clean-Freak over there.” He motioned towards the direction Regulus had gone with his head earning him a “you watch yourself monsieur les tas” from his boyfriend’s disembodied voice.
Remus pressed a lingering kiss to your lips and only broke away because he couldn’t stop smiling. “I would clean up after you for the rest of my life if it meant getting to keep you around.” He said proudly, and you felt your heart stutter in your chest.
“Remus.” You moaned, pressing another kiss to his lips. “So, you wouldn’t ruin my makeup for leaving it out?”
Remus scoffed and turned back to his book. “Not in a million years.”
“Come on amour! Get your jacket, we’re leaving.” Regulus called to you from the door. You could hear him jingling his car keys.
“Where are we going?” You called back.
“Sephora. I have to buy someone makeup now. If I can’t send some to the internet girl, I may as well spoil my own.”

Part One.
Part Three
Part Two
"So this is knitting?"
Eddie watches as Steve carefully threads the loom back and forth, back and forth, "yeah."
"I thought knitting was like, with needles?"
Tumblr media
"It can be...but I'm no good at it," Eddie admits shyly, suspects he's probably blushing. Again. "Could never hold the tension, it just got tighter and tighter until it was like chainmail. So I tried sewing, shit at that too. Well, I can do patches and stuff on my jacket, by hand, but proper sewing with a machine, to make a blanket? Carnage man, blood everywhere." Steve snorts a laugh, but doesn't look up from what he's doing, "so I tried crochet, pretty sure I had carple tunnel in like, ten minutes flat. Was ready to quit but then...I found these things. And I'm sort of okay at it."
"Well, you're managing to teach me, so you must be more than just okay."
Eddie does blush then, glad Steve isn't looking up from his work. It's sweet, watching the Alpha figure out this most Omega of tasks. Eddie has no idea how this happened, but it's his third time at Steve's.
Never turn down a free meal is so ingrained in Eddie he was agreeing before he even really realised what he was agreeing too.
And it isn't until later that very evening, when Steve quietly says, "hey, can I show you something, before you go?" That Eddie understands. Because he's standing in the doorway to a nesting room. Of course the Harrington house has a nesting room, it's big enough and fancy enough for a pool for god's sake.
Eddie stands and stares into the little windowless room, lit softly by covered lights, and examines the dip in the middle. The soft curve in the floor where Steve has very carefully constructed a nest.
Eddie's never been offered this before, never had an Alpha come even close to something like this. The whole room smells of Steve. Some of the nest is clearly Steve's bedding.
He's done a good job; Eddie's Omega preens and Eddie has to breathe sharply through his mouth to deliberately squash the purr that wants to escape his chest.
He knows now, why he's here; Steve wants his heat. Probably not the first heat Steve Harrington has offered to share with someone, Eddie has no illusions about what this is.
But this might be his chance. He's already forming a plan. It's shitty and underhand but it'll get him the pup he wants so badly. Eddie doesn't look at that nest and see his own survival, he doesn't see salvation. He sees a pup cradled in his arms.
Steve never needs to know, even. Eddie knows Steve's interest in him will evaporate once Eddie's heat is done. Once Eddie has what he wants so badly.
Eddie says, "yes."

I don’t know if you write pregnancy fics, so if you don’t feel free to ignore this!
I crave pregnancy angst, like maybe child birth going wrong or something but like angst to fluff with Billy the Kid
hey so . i wrote this and missed the memo on the angst to fluff so it's kinda fluff to angst! so sorry. hope you enjoy!
WARNINGS: childbirth, premature birth, stillborn baby, child loss, brief graphic descriptions
The night the baby comes is dark and peaceful: there hasn't been more than a soft fall of rain in weeks, and the spring has brought balmy evenings that have made chores almost a gift to do.
Even more of a blessing is the time after chores, curled up on the porch under Billy’s arm. He's twisting the ends of your hair around his fingers absently, and you twist to look up at his face.
“What's on your mind, honey?”
“Hm?”
“I can hear your thoughts from here, Billy. Are you worrying about something?”
He tucks his chin over your head and you hum contentedly at being wrapped up in him, safe and warm.
“Just thinkin’ about the baby is all,” he says. “What we're gonna name her and that stuff.”
You laugh. “Well, it'll be a while yet, so you've got some time to figure it out. We don't even know if the baby’s a girl.”
“I do.” He slides his arm off your shoulder to your waist, placing his hand flat against your rounded belly. “Gonna be the best little girl, and she's gonna look just like her mama.”
“Mm…with your eyes, if we're lucky.”
You crane your neck to peck Billy on the lips, coaxing a smile from your husband. Out of nowhere, a cramp twists through your lower back and you cover Billy’s hand with yours, wincing. He shifts you off his chest slightly to look at you.
“You okay?”
The pain passes and you can breathe again – it's not something you've felt before, but you know things get weirder the bigger the baby gets.
“Fine, yeah. I think she was moving around or something.”
Billy gives your stomach a firm look, which coaxes a laugh out of you and chases away your nerves.
“‘s not the baby’s fault, honey,” you say. “She's just getting comfy.”
“You're sure you're alright?” He confirms. “I can ride into town and-”
“I'm good. You don't need to worry, okay?”
He nods and pulls you back against him, his body a shelter from any worries.
As the night creeps on, there are a few more cramps but nothing notable, and you're able to fall asleep almost immediately when the time comes.
That is, until the middle of the night, when you wake up with your entire core on fire.
“Billy,” you whimper, grabbing for his arm.
He groans, still mostly asleep.
“Something’s wrong, Billy, you gotta-” You pause, a bolt of pain too great to speak through wracking your body for a moment. “You gotta go get the doctor.”
That wakes him immediately, and he's rolling out of bed before his eyes are even completely open. He takes in your face, screwed tight and shiny with sweat, and he's trying to get ready and comfort you at the same time.
“It's okay, darlin’, I'm sure it's nothing,” he says, not even bothering to take off his pajamas before tugging his work clothes over them and shoving his feet into his boots. “I bet the baby is just growing extra fast.”
For all his confident words, his voice trembles and breaks at the end of his sentence, which sends tears spilling down your cheeks. Billy scrambles for the door, then back to you to press a kiss to your forehead and a hand to your cheek.
“Gonna be fine, darlin'. I'll be back as quick as I can.”
You don't even have time to reply before he's out the door and gone.
The pain only increases while he's gone, time going hazy and strange. You can't figure out how long ago Billy left, or how long it should be until he's back – you can't really think of much besides the ache throbbing from your pelvis to your chest. Noises that don't sound like your own are tearing themselves from your throat as you writhe in bed, trying to find anything that'll ease the pain.
Soon (or maybe not soon at all, you can't say), Billy is bursting back into your room, the midwife hot on his tail. She takes one look at you and turns to Billy.
“I need boiling water and strips of cloth.”
Billy nods wordlessly and disappears out to the kitchen. You didn't realize how desperate you were for him until he was gone, and a new bout of sobs streak down your face.
“Oh, lovey,” the midwife says as she strips back your covers. “Your boy will be back soon, he's just helping me keep you safe while you're in labour. Can you tell me how far you are along?”
She tugs your nightgown up around your hips, and you're in too much pain to feel any shame.
Fear shoots through you. “I'm not in labour,” you gasp. “I can't be, it's only been six months since I missed my period.”
Your body bows forward with another stab just as Billy walks through the door with a steaming pot of water and strips of a clean sheet, and he nearly drops everything in his haste to get to you. Once he's sure that the midwife has what she needs, he's settling next to you, offering a hand to squeeze and a shoulder to lean on.
“You may want to step out, Mr. Bonney, this-”
“I'm stayin’,” he says, surely putting on a brave face when you grip his hand like a vice. To you, he soothes, “Hold on as hard as you need, darlin’, you're not gonna hurt me.”
“Okay then,” the midwife says. “Get ready to push, lovey, this baby is just about to come out.”
You don't even have to think when the time comes, a baser instinct taking over for you. It hurts like nothing has before and a wail chokes out of your mouth. Billy is still holding you, whispering sweet things you can't hear against your temple. He might be crying but you can't tell; everything is so wet and hot and sticky that it feels like your throat is closing and your neck is folding in on itself. If he is crying, there's a small part of you that wants to be angry with him, because how dare he cry when you're the one going through this, but it's overshadowed by how scared and confused you are and how he must be feeling that way too.
Suddenly, the pressure in your pelvis changes and the pain subsides, just slightly. You struggle to sit up even a little, peering down at the midwife, who is cradling something you can't see in her arms. Billy, who has a better vantage, is trying to nudge your face into his shoulder, but you resist.
“My baby…?” You whisper. Your voice is hoarse and you're exhausted, but all you want to do is cradle your newborn child.
“It was very early,” the midwife says gently. “She wouldn't have been long for this world, even if-”
“No,” you say, and you can't quite identify what the feeling is behind your resistance. “Let me see my baby, let me hold her!”
You try to scramble up, ignoring the way it makes everything hurt, but Billy holds you back.
“I'm going to clean and wrap her, and then you can hold her, lovey,” the midwife says, standing. You still can't see the body in her arms. “I'm so sorry.”
You turn to Billy as the woman leaves and shove his chest. His eyes are shining, his face is sticky with tears, but he makes no move to stop you.
“Go after her, Billy, don't let her take my baby! I need to feed her, you gotta name her, we…”
Billy just wraps you in a silent hug, and whatever dam was holding the realization back before breaks.
“I'm so sorry,” you sob. “I didn't mean to, it wasn't supposed to happen like this.”
“It's not your fault, darlin’,” he whispers, stroking a hand over your sweat-matted hair. “It's not your fault.”
You never get to hold your baby girl, exhaustion and grief sending you to sleep before the midwife returns. Billy will tell you in the morning, hesitantly and under much duress, that she was born blue.

I will be your new nightmare🔥 /j
Well, good afternoon, day or night, regardless of where you are existing! I came here to ask humbly and respectfully if you have the mercy to accept my request 😭
It's about Scaramouche with an amab reader (male) although I don't care if he's gn but I have preferences for the amab reader, the thing is that Scaramouche (in a modern AU) is an attractive boy and all that, (obviously he would be extremely attractive body that is loaded) and that is in a relationship with the reader!
The thing is that, being attractive, he has a slim and attractive figure, what happens is that... one morning after getting out of his boyfriend's bed, he looks in the mirror and notices how his abdomen was previously flat, he has a cute and nice belly!
I don't know if you know about couples, where mainly the boy makes his girlfriend a little fat, practically the same thing happens with Scara, being somewhat fattened by the reader! 💗💗 (He's so adorable lmao, his frown and complaints, I love him.)

a/n | my last request from a month ago, I'm happy it's finally over fr... it'll take a while before I open requests again.
Anyways, I wrote y'all kinda hot, I want a boyfriend like that, frfr
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
FURROWED EYEBROWS REFLECTED in the mirror as he frowned at himself. Or much rather at his own body. He looked different. And he obviously didn't like it. His belly was not flat like he's used to. It was... just the slightest bit fattened. But how?!
To his knowledge, his eating behaviour didn't change. He might have never really worked out before, but that's because he never felt like he needed to! 'How did this happen?!' he asked himself over and over again, looking into the mirror.
Scaramouche was never insecure about something. But now that he's got you as his partner, he... did slightly care about how you thought of him. And he was always fearing the worst outcome. What if you broke up with him over this?! No. Now that he's got you, he sure as hell ain't losing you because of a small weight gain.
So now, as desperate as he would never admit he would be, he decided to search the internet about possible causes and how to deal with this. He didn't have the time to book an appointment with some kind of doctor nor was he interested in working out. So he resorted to his trusty phone.
It's still early in the morning, surely you're still sleeping in your shared bed behind him, surely he had enough time to—
"What are you doing?" his boyfriend's sleepy voice snapped Scaramouche out of his stupor. Your warm arms wrapped around his waist as you rest your head on his left shoulder, eyes half-lidded. "Checking yourself out?" you asked him jokingly, your voice still clouded by sleep.
He was too focused on his own insecurity that he didn't see you wake up and approach him, even though your shared bed was right behind him.
"No, I'm not. I'm busy." he replies snarkly. He really didn't understand how you still haven't noticed his stomach already. Was is because you just woke up? He frankly didn't want to know. But curiosity kills the cat. "Have you not noticed anything different?"
"Hm? Different?" you blinked your eyes in confusion, looking at his reflection with droopy eyes. Then you squeezed his waist and pressed him closer to yourself, his back practically flat against your chest. "You're really handsome in the morning." you compliment him, not sure what he's trying to tell you.
A small pink hue dusted his cheeks, before he turns away grumbling under his breath "That's not what I meant..." A sigh escaped your lips, pressing a kiss on the curve of his neck to ease his mind. "Then what are you trying to tell me, love?"
He pursed his lips in response, not wanting to elaborate. But you didn't like that. "I thought we agreed that communication is the key to a healthy relationship?" you hum, raising your eyebrow. "It's none of your business—"
"If there's something bothering you, it clearly is my business and if you don't tell me about it, I will find a way to force it out of you, love." you smirked, leaning over his shoulder and turning his head to look at you. You knew how to deal with him, having gotten used to his attitude and snarky responses.
He averted his eyes when you turned his head to your direction, not wanting to tell you. "C'mon, you're not gonna tell me?" you smile, leaning closer and pressing a quick peck on his lips. He grumbles under his breath, inaudible words forming on his tongue. "Hm? Repeat that?" you coo, gently squeezing his waist again.
No way in hell could he admit if out loud, that's too embarrassing! But his resolve was quickly broken when you began peppering sweet kisses on his neck. "It's nothing major I just... gained some weight."
"Huh?" you hum, your eyes finding his indigo ones, as he averted his own. "I'm not repeating myself again." he quickly added. You heard him just fine the first time, you were just surprised to say the least. Because hearing that Scaramouche, your snarky and grumpy boyfriend, was insecure infront of you is a first! An achievement. And you were more than happy he told you.
You let go of him and cold sweat formed on his skin as he expected the worst. Only to be turned around so he could look into your eyes. "I don't care about your weight or body, love." you assured him, your eyes carrying that reassuring glint.
"I loved you in the past during your worst moments." you whisper, pressing a kiss on his cheek, "I love you right now even when you gain weight—" and then another one on his other cheek, "And I'll continue loving you in the future regardless of how you'll look." followed by a soft press of your lips against his.
It was as time stopped when you told him such loving words followed by all the more loving actions. Never in his life had he dreamed of being that cared and loved for... it broke him. In a good kind of way. He didn't even realize the tears dampening his cheeks before you wiped them away with your thumb. And it didn't take long before he started sobbing, crying in your arms as he couldn't explain how loved he's feeling.
The rest of the morning was spent cuddling in bed with reassuring words and sweet nothings being whispered by yourself to truly confirm your affection.
Maybe your sweet words will get him to stop leaving the bed early and start lazing in bed with you more often. <3

Heeeeeyyy,
I don't want to be pressuring, but how will they even find y/n. Like, they're so many people in Gotham, and they know nothing about them except from thire own name. And if they were found, would they put up a fight? 🤔 she could beat tim in a one on one, with her being a black belt and all... so how will the capture be like?
From
👾anon
You're good! No worries.
As for your questions, I will say that how the Batfam ends up finding the reader is revealed in the 3rd part. Though I will drop a small spoiler and say that they don't get kidnapped... not right away, anyway ;] (or at least not in the part I'm currently writing, as of right now.)
It is still angsty, and honestly I'd say pretty heart wrenching since, y'know, it doesn't go well at all. Which I'm sure pretty much everyone expected-
Though, I will say that if anything where to happen, the reader would definitely put up a fight! Granted, they don't want to fight the Batfam- not because they can't fight at all (and as you've mentioned, they do have a black belt (as mentioned in "Not Here"), and they do have some experience in boxing as mentioned in "Not Tonight" (though I can't recall at the moment if it's also mentioned in "Not here"), among other things that could help them out in a fight), but because to them, I can imagine it's more of a last resort kind of thing. If they have to, they will, and considering the Batfam? They definitely will.
For one-on-one fights? Yeah, the reader probably could beat Tim, and maybe get scarily close to beating Steph (or just flat out beating her too). For Dick and Jason, I think they'd honestly need a little more polish and refinement on their skills and fighting style to actually beat them, but they could get a little close. As for Damian and Cass? Ehh, they'll definitely need more training and experience for that. Both are trained to be weapons before anything else, and working with Batman isn't exactly going to make that suddenly go away. If anything- it'll probably put the skills you learned from that experience to the test (fighting/combat wise, anyway).
I don't think I have to even mention Bruce, but if that were to happen the reader would like to think they at least got halfway there to beating him, and they'd probably be half right.
Though, this is all just on strength, agility, skill, reaction time and such alone. Everyone in the Batfam easily has quicker reflexes compared to the reader, and more experience when it comes to combat (not that the reader doesn't have their own fair share of experience, but y'know), but the reader would definitely try to use their head more than just fight the family head on (which is just... asking for failure and disaster).
Even if it isn't going to be easy to out smart the World's Greatest Detective, or someone with a mind like Tim- not to mention Oracle being on their side. Or really just, anyone trained under the Batman, at all. It isn't impossible.
So, in a situation where the reader has to fight someone from the Batfam, they'll try to utilize both their brain and brawn. So, if they can't beat whoever they're fighting, at the very least they can get away from the fight and escape. Which they definitely have better odds at succeeding in since they took track and field as mentioned in "Not Here." The reader might try to take down whoever they're up against depending on who it is, but I will say that they'll mostly choose to have a smooth getaway more often than not.
Again, like you said, Gotham is a big place- they could probably get away for a little while, if nothing else. :]
Besides, the reader could also unintentionally suprise the Batfam with some of their skills and techniques when it comes to combat, but I don't think it'll be enough to throw any of them off enough to beat them- but that also depends what caused the Batfam's surprise and how big their reaction was to it. So, now that I'm really thinking about it, it's possible to catch them off guard and defeat them that way. Unlikely- but possible. (Also because it depends on how certain members of the Batfam view the reader and their own fighting capabilities. Since that can really determine how shocked or surpised they'll get at certain things. Which I'll say right now- despite the awards in your room, some definitely don't think you can defend yourself, or could hold up well in a 'real' fight. Dick is one of them.)
Nevertheless, how would a kidnapping play out?
Honestly, it really depends on multiple things.
1. Why they resorted to kidnapping above everything else. (Which can vary from you being in danger (from their perspective), or just them just getting impatient.)
2. Who is doing the kidnapping. (Which can be multiple people.)
3. How whoever is kidnapping you, plans to do it.
4. How urgently they want to kidnap you (which can affect #3).
5. Do they have a plan, or are they doing it impulsively?
6. How likely are they to mess up, and if they do, how quickly can they recover.
These can all change and differ, with the reader's reaction and action changing accordingly, but again, it depends. In some situations the reader may be put into a position where they can't fight back. Or maybe they realizing what's going on much too late. Maybe they even fight back and manage to get away, or they fight back but their attempts are fruitless in the end. If the Batfam fucks up, even a little bit or unintentionally, the reader could take advantage of that- but that's if whoever is trying to kidnap them can or can't recover fast enough.
Sure, the chances of anyone in the Batfam messing up are low, and go even lower depending on who you're talking about. However, those chances are never zero, and again- the Batfam doesn't really know much about the reader at all. With some knowing more than others, sure, but you also have to take into account that some of these people are going to be selfish as yanderes, and don't want to share certain pieces of information about the reader with one another because maybe they want to be the only one to know about whatever they're keeping to themself.
Hence, making it more likely for mistakes to happen, but the Batfam is also really good at what they do- which is also why how quickly they can recover from said (most likely unintentional) mistake or slip up is kind of important. Seeing as it can make or break the reader's chances of escaping successfully.
Not to mention that certain pairs work better than others, but depending on what leads up to the kidnapping- some unlikely teamups could be made. They could either get in the way of each other, or work scarily well. Though solo attempts are also possible- let's be honest, with how most of the yanderes feel about the reader at this point in the series, that's not going to happen. They all want to see and meet the reader as quickly as possible, to a point where they're almost borderline not allowed to see you without being in pairs or something. Not because they want to stick together necessarily (most do want to just, be with the reader alone, after all), but because of their own selfishness, greed, and sometimes jealousy. (Though there are some exceptions, like part 3.)
Basically: who knows? It can go one of many ways, and depending on which way it goes, the reader could possibly escape or just be left helpless at the hands of the Batfam. As for THE kidnapping? I'm not gonna spill, we'll see how things go :]
Tldr:
1. How the Batfam finds the reader is explained in Part 3 and I'm not spoiling.
2. Yeah, the reader will fight if they have to- and stand a better chance against some of them compared to others. Though for the most part would use their brain and, if they can't defeat someone, they'll make a quick getaway instead, and have higher chances of succeeding in that. Though it is possible for them to catch whoever they're fighting off guard, and defeat them that way.
3. How the reader reacts and acts to a kidnapping highly depends on the kidnapping itself, and who is trying to do it. The reader may or may not be able to fight back depending on the situation, and there is more room for mistakes because the Batfam doesn't know much about the reader — and if someone does know more they'll probably keep it to themself out of selfishness. The chance for a slip up is small, but could be enough for the reader to get away.
- As for the actual kidnapping that may or may not happen in the series, and how that'll go with everything? I'm not spilling, sorry!
Hope this answered your question! If it didn't, I apologize and I can clarify anything specifically that may have confused you or anyone else in another ask.
If anyone else has a question, or you yourself have another question, feel free to send in an ask! I'm trying to answer these as much as I can while writing the 3rd part, if you couldn't tell!

Graves loved the rodeo, much like the many other country men.
Mainly, he loved the show of it.
The display.
Competitions to show off which cowboy was the manliest?
That was right up his alley.
But there was one other large reason why he loved the rodeo...
The women.
Dimes from all over would come to watch and fawn and drool at the men competing.
And he's had his fair share of each.
But every single one of those girls were blown completely out of the water by you.
The woman he had caught sight of during the bull ride.
And you had caught sight of him, too.
Your eyes locked with the handsome man riding the bull, and you smiled, giving him a nod of approval.
He was remarkably good at it.
But what was even more remarkable, was the minute his ride was finished, he started walking over to you.
He winked, blowing out his bottom lip with the smallest smirk as he approached.
He tipped his hat as he got closer.
"You a rodeo fan, there, missy?"
You smirked, leaning up against the fence.
"I come and I go."
Graves chuckled as he placed his hands on his hips.
"Well, darlin'. I reckon we both got a little something out of this rodeo then," he tilted his hat up just slightly to reveal his bright, blue eyes.
"I'd be doin' myself a disservice if I didn't ask for your name."
You tutted, a sly smirk growing on your lips.
"Don't think you've earned my name yet, cowboy. You're gonna have to do more than that."
Graves winked, his smile growing into a sly one as he took a step towards you.
He placed one hand on the fence, leaning over slightly, so that he was closer to you.
Face-to-face.
"You like the sound of sugar?" He whispered.
He knew that this would either work or wouldn't.
If it didn't?
He had other ways to make you talk.
He had the kinda of confidence that would make him believe any other tactic would work.
"It'll do," you smiled up at him, your eyes dark and inviting.
He moved his hand on the fence over to your cheek, his thumb caressing your cheekbone ever so slightly.
His head was tilted down, giving himself a better view of you, as well as a chance to get his face closer to yours.
"What's a pretty lady like you doin' all 'lone in the bleachers?" He asked cockily, "Where's your cowboy?"
"Don't got one," you nodded, "Flyin' solo today."
Your smirk grew.
"How 'bout you? You got a cowgirl waitin' for you at home?"
You eyed the hand on your cheek, before leading your gaze back to his.
"If I'm goin' off where your hand is, my guess would be no."
Graves chuckled, his eyes staying trained on yours.
"You'd be right, sugar. No girl at home waitin'. Don't even got a girl at the rodeo waitin'."
He raised a brow, his thumb still caressing your cheek.
"You lookin' to change that?"
He leaned even closer, waiting for you to make the next move.
"Butterin' me up s'not gonna get you nowhere..." You tried to fight off a smile.
But you couldn't help it.
This man was doing something to you.
Graves smirked, noticing the way he was making you feel.
He moved his hand from your cheek, resting it on yours.
He looked as if he was going to lean in for a kiss, but instead, he breathed in close to your ear.
"I like a woman who can handle herself."
His voice was gravelly and smooth at the same time, sending a shiver down your spine.
He slowly pulled away, allowing a few inches between you two again.
"And I think I might just have me one of those..."
You carefully took his hand from yours, turning it to lay flat across his chest.
"You sure 'bout that? As far as you're concerned, I could be an ax murderer," you asked teasingly, "You really know me?"
Graves chuckled, your fingers running across his chest, making him grin even wider.
"It ain't about the knowledge I have, darlin'. S'bout the chemistry between us right now. And besides..."
He smiled.
Your fingers were still caressing his chest.
"I know your type. And you ain't an ax murderer."
"Oh, really?" You cocked a brow, "Then what am I, cowboy?"
Graves didn't hesitate with his answer.
"The type that has a hard time admitting she's got a soft spot for the Southern boy-next-door type."
He smirked, knowing full well the type he just described was you to a T.
"So maybe you're not all brawn..." You teased with a smile, giving his chest a little flick before starting off towards where the rest of the crowd was headed.
The after party was happening at Davies, a popular local bar joint.
And you sure as shootin' weren't gonna miss it.
"You comin' or what, cowboy?"
The flick had sent chills up the man's spine, and your smirk made him grin even more.
"Yeah, I'm comin'," he said with his own smirk before moving to follow you.
"You just lead the way, gorgeous."

Elendira the Crimsonnail (II)
It's within your right to care not at all about any defence I mount of Elendira in Stampede. This is profoundly not my wheelhouse and I'm no fan of the creepy little girl archetype myself - but I think she's not going to stay as she is forever, and I think she serves a thematic purpose. Whether that justifies the new backstory for her is, of course, up to you.
Right. I'll need to start with the fact that in Stampede, Knives hates women. Oh, certainly Knives attacks and kills a lot of people - after all, his stated goal is the genocide of the human race - and many of his victims are men, since they typically make up the majority of fighting forces. But with them he's eliminating a threat. He's efficient about it. They're dead or at least incapacitated before they know anything. Think the Plant technicians, the MPs in July, the patrol officer outside Jeneora Rock.
It's when he targets women that he's hateful. Rosa's people didn't have to die like that. Knives drew it out for fun and let Rosa live with witnessing it. Similarly, he hated Luida so much he went for the throat bare-handed. He didn't get to Meryl, but Knives was so determined to harm her that it took Vash a few tries to redirect his attention while she fled. Let's also not forget that his abuse of Vash is centred around trying to destroy all influence Rem, a woman, had on his brother. Knives is openly contemptuous of human women in a way he simply isn't with men - Meryl is a "disgusting parasite", Luida a "witch".
You'd think championing Tesla and the dependent Plants (whom he refers to as female) would check him some - but it doesn't! Because they're defined by helplessness. They can't argue or tell him he's wrong, nor can they leave him or hurt him or take Vash from him. I'm sure he cares about them but, well, he cares about Vash too, and we know how that works out.
And thus of Knives's closest followers, only Elendira is afforded a place among their ranks. No others allowed. I have a feeling it'll be a little more gender-balanced once Legato steps in (he's got an entirely different flavour of hang-up), but that's for the future.
So why is Elendira the exception?
For a start, she's more directly attached to Dr. Conrad than Knives himself. Conrad seems to treat her as his companion or child, though she doesn't seem terribly fond of him or inclined to respect him. She is loyal to Knives, enough to recoil from Vash for being a "traitor".
In addition, she's Knives's partial clone. Knives is extremely self-absorbed, and she does look like he did as a boy. On a creepier note, she looks like Vash, too.
She's also not human. From what I can tell, rather she's a sort of an Independent/dependent Plant, a hybrid of their characteristics. Her body has proportions similar to the dependent Plants when they're unfurled, except on smaller scale and without the "petals" - large head, big eyes, long hands/feet, slender body - and, like them, she lacks sexual characteristics (so, she's arguably not a woman either - but put a pin in that). She can survive outside her case and doesn't need to eat or drink. However, her Gate seems too weak to afford her the toughness and regenerative abilities of the twins. Which probably explains why she reacted the way she did to a relatively minor cut.
I think her genetic makeup might be why she hasn't grown beyond "childhood". She isn't a child, she's a fully-developed adult. It's just that she's got the proportions of a fully-developed adult Plant, which look childish to a human. And might explain why she flat-out murders Roberto for being unable to look past that and see the threat she represents.
Anyway, I imagine, for Elendira, the problem is that the whole fact of her existence brings with it... expectations. The most obvious:
Tumblr media
Elendira is almost certainly an attempt by Dr. Conrad to further his "atonement" by recreating Tesla to give her another chance at life. He probably treats her like one, anyway, even if not consciously. (Whether or not she has any part of Tesla integrated into her is an interesting question but not relevant - it's an emotional thing.)
Yet Tesla remains a silent victim. It's her tragedy. That's all she ever got to be and all that she will ever be. Elendira simply isn't Tesla - might even have come to resent Tesla, because this poor little girl no one ever got to know has overshadowed her entire life. She's a sibling El can never surpass. Forever perfect because she never got to be enough of a person to disappoint anyone. It's no wonder Elendira hates being pitied if it means being reminded that Tesla, born an Independent, is a standard she falls short of - but all the ways Tesla was superior didn't save her from the fate she suffered. She isn't Tesla. She can't be Tesla. She refuses to be.
And then there's this asshole.
Tumblr media
(Vash is of course the perfect precious boy, but I'm talking from Elendira's perspective.)
We don't outright hear how Knives talks about Vash to his followers, but Elendira gives us a hint. She calls him a traitor and won't allow him to even touch her. We know Knives is obsessed with his twin to the exclusion of anything or anyone else (ask Legato) - and I suspect he sought replacement in his followers… but you know how it is when you're around someone who's really hung up over an ex? (Again whether it's romantic or not really doesn't matter, he's Very Normal etc.) Knives hates every single choice his brother's ever made but it's painfully obvious that he'll never love anyone else. For Elendira, that's another sibling setting a standard she'll never reach in a game she didn't sign up to play. She isn't Vash. She can't be Vash. She refuses to merely be a replacement for Vash, who hurt Lord Knives so deeply.
So fuck all that, right?
Given the scanty details we've been given, I can easily imagine her deciding she won't play anymore. She won't be Tesla. She won't be Vash. Instead, she'll carve out her own identity. Tesla didn't get to grow up, so Elendira's an adult and nobody's victim. Vash is a sentimental idiot, so she's the woman who kills without pity.
I can also easily imagine her going to Dr. Conrad and leaning on him to make improvements after the Punisher defeated her. She already wears lipstick and colours her nails, along with wearing a pink dress - experimenting with her presentation - and uses very adult, aggressively femme body language and articulation.
In short, I get the feeling Elendira dislikes her look as much as the fans do. And she's going to try and remedy it at the earliest opportunity.

Oh, well, how about... since the librarian and diguised Sun met in winter, how about they got snowed inside one evening?
Like, the snow storm was supposted pass by according to prognostic, but, you know, the elements have zero respect for the metheorlogist hard work. So the storm really got them by surprize.
The younger siblins could either be with them or not, maybe having sleepover at a friend's house.
As usual, human disguise AU belongs to @pillowspace. It is *dead* at work rn and I'm trying a new energy drink so let's see how it goes.
Also I need a name for the little brother...
It's been getting darker earlier and earlier now, and Daylight Savings Time isn't helping matters. Usually, the head librarian tries to schedule you so you can leave before it's quite dark, but you've changed shifts with Jessica because her toddlers caught the flu from school. You're not envious, glad your brother is old enough to wash his hands and generally keep clean.
He's with the sitter now, and you're clearing off the last cart of returned books. Sun's tucked himself in the corner, nose in a book. You can just see the bright green of his scarf. Briefly, you wonder why he wears it like that even indoors. The thought is gone just as quickly.
"Are you sure you're okay walking me home tonight?" You ask as you pass by. "There's a snowstorm passing by. I don't want you to get caught in it if it decides to turn around."
"It's fine!" Sun isn't even startled by you talking. You hear him move as you wander off, feeling along the spines for an empty space. "I enjoy our walks, and the weather website said it was going to be to the south anyway."
"Mm. You shouldn't trust the website. I'm pretty sure meteorologists just throw darts at a weather map and report whatever it lands on." The books slide into place with the softest thump of bookcloth against wood. "It's getting dark too. I can walk on my own..." Not that you wanted to, not really. You had grown to love having Sun at your side. A small, selfish part of your mind wanted to ask him to walk with you after your job as a cleaner too.
You don't ask. You're certain he's got his own life after all. It would be far too much to ask him to take time out of even more evenings just because you don't like walking alone.
"I would hope they do more than that," Sun is saying, drawing your attention back to him. "There are meteorology books here in the library. It's a fascinating science."
You push the emptied cart to where he's sitting, propping yourself against it with one foot braced against the wheel to keep it from rolling off. "I should've guessed you would like meteorology."
"Why's that?"
You grin. "Your name of course."
Sun takes a second to process before he laughs, and you giggle alongside him, stifling the sound with the back of your hand. When you calm down, you stretch. "Okay, let me get my coat and we can head out."
"I'll wait by the door."
It takes you a few minutes, and you say goodnight to Gretchen before you bundle up. You rival Sun in terms of layers; your brother had insisted on making you into a human marshmallow to keep from getting cold and you could only indulge him. Besides, the scarf and earmuffs kept your nose and ears toasty warm.
Sun doesn't respond when you approach. "Are you ready to go?" You ask. Nothing. Cautiously, aware of his aversion to touch, you nudge at his upper arm. "Sun?"
"Huh? Oh. Hi. Sorry. I just didn't realize it'd gotten so dark so quickly." His voice is strangely flat, almost robotic.
"Are you okay?" You ask, and your hand lingers on his coat sleeve. It's meant to be comforting, but you're not sure he even notices.
"Yeah, yeah. It'll be fine." He seems to straighten up and finally notice your hand. His own lifts and you can feel him take yours. His grip is soft, like he expects you to pull away. You beam instead. "Ready to go?"
"Ready," you say, and push the door open. The cold immediately whips into your face, and you shrink into Sun's side. "Brrr. This is going to be a fun walk home."
You do notice Sun is quieter on the walk home, though you guess it's from having to walk in the increasing cold. It's starting to snow too, or maybe it had been for awhile and the wind is picking it up and tossing it back in both your faces. Intermittently, his grip will tighten on your hand, and you try to squeeze reassuringly.
It takes almost twice as long for you to get to the top of your street as usual, and the wind and snow are trying to pile on you both. "Sun, I don't think it's safe for you to try and walk home."
"I'll be fine," Sun says, his voice tense. But no, you're not allowing that, and you push against the wind to drag you both to your home.
It's an apartment building, with doors that open to exposed landings. It's a little quieter with the building blocking the worst of it, and you release Sun's hand to carefully stomp up the concrete steps. Your foot tries to slip, and Sun catches you by the back of your coat.
"Whoops, thank you." You shoot a smile in his general direction, and his head Bob's in acknowledgment. "My brother is going to be home. He's sweet, but if he's not asleep I might have to kick his butt."
"Is he very young then?" Sun asks. There's less tension in his voice, but you can tell he's still nervous. You can see his mittens fidgeting.
"He's eight." You fumble with your keys, pulling off a glove with your teeth to get a better grip. It dangles from your mouth. "So old enough to be a nuisance sometimes. He's a good kid normally."
The TV is on in the living room, playing Jeopardy quietly in the background. You can see Sarah curled up in one of your blankets on the couch. She moves as you stomp your way in, shaking off the snow. "Hey. He was worried about if you'd make it. I told him -- oh."
She must've noticed Sun. You gesture at your lanky friend with your bare hand as you unzip your coat with the other. "This is Sun. He's from the library. He's going to spend the night, at least until the storm's calmed down some."
"Oh...Kay." Sarah sounds unsure, but you shrug it off. "Well, he fell asleep an hour ago. Mom gave me some pot roast for you guys to split. I put your half in the fridge."
"Aw, tell her I said thank you," you say. You leave your coat and boots in a pile by the door even as Sarah pulls her things on. "Careful on the steps. It's icy."
"Of course. Mom will be by tomorrow afternoon. Good night." Sarah lingers a moment, clearly untrusting of Sun, but you wave her off, shivering in the open door until you hear the door under yours shut. Only then do you lock your own door, rubbing your arms briskly.
"It is cold," you complain, voice soft. "I'm going to make us some hot cocoa."
"I'm okay without any," Sun says, but you ignore him, walking into your narrow kitchen. The pot roast is front and center in the nearly empty fridge, and you tip it out onto a plate to reheat. The kettle still has water in it from this morning, so you turn on the stovetop, finding two mugs and the hot chocolate.
"Your home is nice," Sun says. He's at the entrance of the kitchen, making himself smaller as though he could take up less space. He seems a little too big and bright for the apartment, where almost everything is secondhand. "Did you decorate it yourself."
"Oh yes," you reply, mock serious. "That's why there's a big poster of robots fighting dinosaurs behind the TV." The microwave beeps, so you open it and turn the pot roast over, stabbing it a few times before it gets popped back in to finish. "We picked things out together."
"Your parents..."
You shrug, spooning hot chocolate mix and little hard marshmallows into each mug. "Gone. Been gone for awhile."
"Surely you have family then."
Sun's questions don't irritate you like it would if it were someone else. Maybe it's because he doesn't sound pitying or like he is doubting your ability to care for your little brother on your own.
Most people did. Most people saw you, all but legally blind and hardly an adult yourself, and decided you weren't fit to be his guardian. You tell yourself you don't care what they think.
You almost believe it.
"No one to speak of. Grandparents are dead or in a nursing home. We try to visit once a month, but it's hard when he's going to school." It's easy to talk to Sun. "Everyone else is out of state. My cousin mentioned taking him in last year, but it would mean a new school district and therapist and... It's not important." The kettle whistles, and you pull it off quickly, pouring it into both mugs. "Sorry it's not milk. I've not had a chance to run to the store so we're low on groceries."
"Thank you." Sun takes his mug dutifully, closing his hands to hold it close to his face. The microwave beeps again, and you pull the pot roast out, going to split it into two portions. "Oh, no. Don't do that. I'm not hungry, genuinely. I was feeling a little nauseous walking over."
"Oh. The smell isn't too much, is it?" You ask.
"No, no it's fine. I'll stick with my hot chocolate."
You're doubtful, but if he's feeling ill it would explain why he let you take his hand all the way here. You decide to leave it be, beelining to the couch to curl up with the blanket. Of course, it's big enough to share, though you're surprised when Sun sits and the couch seems to shift and drag you into his space. "Oh! Sorry. I wasn't expecting you to be so -- that's rude. Sorry. Here." You put your plate and mug on the floor to spread the blanket between the two of you. It's hard not to notice that while he's taken off the plastic outer coat he's still bundled up. The scarf is even in place. He must be freezing. Maybe you should turn the heat up.
"Thank you." Sun smooths the blanket between the two of you, and you tuck your feet up as you settle in with your meal. The pot roast is tender even now, melting in your mouth. You can't help but moan.
"It's so good," you say, stifling a yawn. With the hot chocolate and a hot meal, you're warming up. "I wish you could eat too. Ms. Wurthers makes the best food."
"I'm enjoying watching you eat," Sun said and that makes you warmer still.
You dig around for the remote, offering it to Sun. "Find something to watch. I think AMC starts playing some of those old horror movies around this time."
"You like those?" He does start clicking through, even as you shrug.
"Their delivery is different. Sometimes it feels like modern movies flattens everyone's emotions out so unless you can see their faces it's all the same. And our TV is rather small. But the old actors have so much drama and bravado. It's fun."
Sun settles on a channel that's playing an old ad for Chia pets. You keep eating, movements turning sluggish as you continue to warm up. Home is safe, and Sun is safe, apparently. You should've guessed that. "We can turn the lights off if you'd like," you offer, muffling a yawn.
"No." Sun speaks sharply, surprising you back to alertness. "I mean... No, it doesn't bother me at all. If you're tired though, you should go to bed."
"I'm fine." You gingerly touch Sun's arm again, disappointed when he pulls away. "I want to stay up til the weather clears enough for you to go home."
Sun's silence feels like a punch to the gut. You chew on the inside of your cheek, no longer hungry. "If the weather doesn't improve, you are also more than welcome to spend the night," you say, trying to ignore the tension between the two of you. "There's plenty of blankets and pillows, and you don't have to undress at all if you're uncomfortable. I might have some sweats that'll fit you actually. They're a bit too long for me but maybe--"
"It's okay," Sun says, interrupting. But it doesn't feel okay, you want to argue. You chew on the inside of your cheek instead, making yourself small against the couch. The commercials end, and a movie plays. It's a Western, and it's at the climax, the hero shooting down the villain in a classic duel. "You really should go to bed though. I don't want to be in the way."
"You're not!" It's not quite a yell; you're just being quietly insistent. "You're my friend Sunny. And that's enough for me." You know he is adverse to it, but you take his hand and hold it tightly. To your surprise, he doesn't pull away. He actually squeezes, letting his other hand rest on yours. You drop your hand on top of his, and he snorts.
"You win," he says, and you grin up at him, settling with your hands stacked together. The movie plays, and you catch yourself nodding off. You struggle to remain upright, but as the credits begin to roll, you begin to lean into Sun's weight. You're only kind of awake when your head rests against his shoulder. Part of you knows you should move. You're trapping him like this, and what if this is far too much contact for your friend? But it's comfortable and warm, and he's comfortable too.
It's been a long, long time since you'd been able to have someone over. A long, long time since you felt this safe with someone other than your brother. You try to move anyway, wanting to, you don't know, something. But Sun squeezes your hands, freeing one of his own to pull the blanket up over your shoulders.
"Sleep tight." And it's not quite his voice, but it's still Sun, and he wants you to stay.
So you stay, falling asleep as the snow continues to build up outside, drifting in and covering your tracks: the soft prints of your boots and the deep imprints left from your surprisingly heavy friend.

Hello! Can I request Mycroft Holmes with the prompt “your hands are freezing! come here, let me warm you up.”? If you don’t write for him, care to share what crochet project are you working on? (I love your work, both the stories and the crocheting).
Thank you and have a lovely day!
Of course I write for him anon! To be honest, I kinda prefer Mycroft to Sherlock. I went along the sunshine and grumpy route!
As for my crafting, I've got a few dolls I'm working on. I've also just started a new knitting project which'll take me fucking ages with lots of new techniques. It'll be a nice challenge for me though :)
Hope you like the fic!!!

“Oh hello, I didn’t hear you come in!”
Your voice was far too cheerful for the dreary Monday morning. You gave Mycroft and bright smile and you dried your hands on the tea towel. Your raised your eyebrows as you waited for him to answer.
“Umm,” you said at last, “Are you waiting for someone? Did Mrs H let you in?”
“I let myself in.”
“Ah,” you bit your lip and looked away, “are you waiting for Sherlock.”
“Yes.”
“So you’re a client.”
“No,” Mycroft sighed, “I’m his brother.”
“His… oh, so your Mycroft!”
“Sherlock’s mentioned me.”
“Once or twice.”
You threw the towel over your shoulder and walked over, hand outstretched.
“I’m y/n l/n.”
Well, he knew that already. Mycroft stared at your hand for a second before, mainly out of some sense of manners, he took it. You let out a gasp of shock as you looked down at your joined hands in shock.
“Your hands are freezing! Come here, let me warm you up.”
Another reason for Mycroft’s less than favourable mood- he couldn’t find his gloves. Unusual for someone as meticulous as him. He knew everything about everyone (or can easily find out if he didn’t have the information to hand) and yet he couldn’t find his gloves. It must be some childish and petty prank played by Sherlock.
“I must-“ he started but you waved a hand
“I was able to put the kettle on anyway. Besides, I’m sure you’d be more comfortable to wait for Sherlock with a cuppa.”
You came back and put down a plate of biscuits.
“Freshly made,” you said, “I don’t usually but I had more than enough and really I think John and Sherlock needed them more than my colleagues.”
Well, it would be rude to turn them down. Mycroft listened to your chatter from the kitchen. In any other circumstance he would’ve found it inane but instead he found it strangely… he actually didn’t know how to explain what he was feeling.
“Mrs H let me have the flat downstairs,” you said, “reduced rent as long as I sort out the damp. She’s kinda like an auntie to me even though we’re not related. I’ve known her since birth, you see. Anyway, getting a bit off topic,” you came back in and handed him a cup of tea, “here you go, that should warm you up!”
You sat down opposite him and curled up in the chair Sherlock usually occupied. You took a sip of your own drink and said,
“I’m sure Sherlock won’t be long. He had one of his,” you waved a hand and wrinkled your nose, “flashes and ran out. I’m guessing you must be used to them.”
“Hmm.”
Mycroft gave you a tight lipped smile as he took a sip of the drink you had given him. Loath as he was to admit it, you were right- it was warming (and you could surprisingly make a decent cup of tea). You gave him a bright smile as he did so and Mycroft felt the unfamiliar, but not unpleasant, feeling return. This could become dangerous.
The sound of the front door slamming open caused you to jump and you hissed as the hot liquid splashed onto your fingers. Mycroft glared at the door as it flung open and his brother stood in the doorway. His gaze flicked between you and Mycroft and he could see the cogs turning in his head.
“See,” you said brightly, “I told you he wouldn’t be long.”
You stood up and walked towards the door.
“I’ll leave you two to it. I’m sure you have matters of great national importance to discuss.”
“I doubt it.” Muttered Sherlock
“I’ll return your mug later Sherlock,” you said, ignoring his comment, “maybe I’ll see you around, Mycroft.”
“No you won’t.” Sherlock said before Mycroft could reply
Sherlock firmly put his hands on your shoulders and gave you a push out the door. You gave him an affronted look but didn’t comment. Yes, maybe Mycroft will see you again.

Drive Me Crazy | Logan Walker
Tumblr media
written for @1117sblog with the prompt "Wow, do you have a hot date or something?" (logan walker x fem!oc, in reader perspective and reader has a name!) thank you for playing and congrats on the raffle <3
Tumblr media
You grumble as you make more of a mess with melted chocolate splattered everywhere and little blotches of strawberry all over you white sleep shirt. The chocolate was a mess, the kitchen was a mess, you were a mess. Luckily nobody was around to see you in such a state.
"Wow, you have a hot date or something?" comes a low voice behind you. You spin around with a strawberry freshly coated in a glob of chocolate.
You yelp out, watching your treat go flying into the sink. Luckily it made no mess on the wall, but some of your hard work went down the drain. Literally. "Logan!"
Jumping at the accusatory tone in your voice, Logan puts his hands up in surrender with a sheepish smile on his face. "Sorry, Lily. I didn't think you'd be so scared."
You purse your lips and sigh, digging the strawberry out of the sink and throwing it away. "How'd you even get in here anyways?"
"Spare key," he says simply. "But seriously, I keep telling you that putting it in the potted plant by the door is not the safest thing. What if unwanted someone gets in here?"
"Like you?"
"Ouch," he chuckles and leans against the counter while you get back to work.
"But I don't have to worry about that. I have you. You can protect me," you say matter-of-factly.
"Don't you have a date or something?" Logan tries again. You suppose he's trying to play into his best friend duties, but being reminded that you're spending Valentine's alone isn't all that fun. "I thought you were going out with that guy."
"Well, that guy never asked. And I found out he already has a girlfriend." Logan tuts and sneakily pops a strawberry into his mouth. You notice anyways but let him get away with it. "What about you? Didn't you have plans?"
He pauses mid-chew. "Uh, well... I haven't asked her yet."
"Logan, you realize that it's like... 5pm, right? Day's nearly over. I bet she already made plans." You give him a disappointed stare and sigh as you realize you didn't melt enough chocolate for the amount of strawberries you have.
"Well, how about this? We can celebrate together?" He eagerly follows you around the counter and to the fridge as you set the treats on some containers. It'll have to do since you're too lazy to actually rearrange the shelf so the plate can lay flat.
"Right now?"
"Yeah. I mean, my car's ready to go and it can be something chill. Just the two of us." He really did remind you of a puppy. You think if he had a tail then there'd be a loud thudding sound to give away his usually quiet presence.
"I look like... this," you motion towards your pjs. "And isn't everything, like, booked out already? Where would we even go?"
"Trust me, we don't have to go anywhere crazy. We can even hang out in the driveway if you want. Just... please?" Logan flashes you a hopeful smile and you sigh, which only makes his smile grown even wider.
"Okay. This can be like our usual car talks. And I'm only doing this because looking at my empty living room is depressing!" It's cute with the way he dashes to the door and stops to make sure you're following. He's cute. But you'd never admit that aloud.
What you do admit aloud is a soft exclamation when you see the open trunk of Logan's car. He's decorated it all nice with blankets, pillows, and some lights.
"You came prepared," you say in awe as you make your way over to the cozy setup. There's even a bottle of sparkling cider and a bag of your favorite takeout. "All this for me? You planned this... for me?"
Logan reaches in and takes out a small bouquet of flowers. Lillies. They look a little squashed but you're too touched at this whole display to care. He silently offers it to you, the tips of his ears turning a dark red.
"Logan, did you... am I...?" He nods and rubs the back of his neck sheepishly.
You hold the flowers close to your chest and hope they muffle the sound of your beating heart. "Will you- uh, are you interested in- well, I mean-" Logan takes a deep breath to steady himself before gently taking your hand. "Lily, I've been meaning to ask for a long while now. Will you be my Valentine?"

Lee Bodecker is a tough man to please, both at work and in life. He is very peculiar with the way he runs things in his station and his employees often find him to be a major pain in the ass, but they can't deny that the man knows how to do his job and he does it damn well. As a sheriff from a small town he knows everyone and everyone knows everyone. There's a familiarity amongst townsfolk that forces him to be tough if he wants people to listen to him and respect him when he gives orders otherwise it'll be absolute chaos in the streets of Knockemstiff.
He doesn't hire people because he knows them or because they're someone's kin, he hires people based on their skill sets. That's how it's always been and he never makes an exception.
As the sheriff he is constantly busy and needs an assistant to help lighten up his workload as much as possible. He takes a lot of time training his assistant because she needs to work the same way he does. They need to be perfectly in sync so that it looks like one person did it all. Not because he wants to take credit for all the work that is done, but to make sure that the work that's put out is always constant and flawless.
Training someone takes a lot of time, energy and money.
Hence why he almost lost it when his newest assistant that he just spent 3 weeks training with quit without warning. Apparently she's leaving town to pursue her acting career or whatever else nonsense that Lee doesn't listen to or cares to know.
He needs to find someone to replace her and quickly. Except Lee can't seem to find a single woman in town that's willing to leave the house and work.
"I got someone for you, Sheriff."  Matt, one of Lee's deputies, says one morning after hearing his boss curse up a storm in his office. "I got a cousin my age that moved into town a few days ago. She knows how to work the phone and everythin'. Real nice girl, too."
Lee shakes his head. "I don't hire other people's kin."
Matt shrugs. "Suit yo'self, Sheriff. It's a shame 'cause she'd do a great job, cousin or not."
Not even five minutes after walking out of Lee's office, Matt hears his name being called out from the office.
"Have her come down tomorrow morning at 7. Not one minute later."
"She'll be there!"
On his way home, Matt stops at your house to let you know that he might have found you a job.
"You need to be at the station at 7 tomorrow morning. Don't be late, the Sheriff hates when people are late."
"You know, I'm always on time!" You nudge him out of your small apartment. "Thank you for helping me." You smile at your cousin. "I promise I won't get you in trouble."
"I know you won't, otherwise I wouldn't have said a thing about you." He laughs as he leaves and you close the door.
You look through your boxes, as you've only moved two days ago and you aren't completely done unpacking, you need to find a proper outfit. You really need this job which means you really need to make a great first impression. You've heard Matt talk about Sheriff Bodecker many times, you know he's a tough boss and he's hard to please. You pick out a white blouse and a black skirt with a pair of black flats, heels would only slow you down and make your feet hurt.
You lay everything out for tomorrow morning and quickly finish eating your dinner that Matt had interrupted so that you can take a shower and go to bed early.
You wake up early the next morning to make sure you aren't going to be late.
It's 6:45 when you walk into the station where you are greeted by a woman clearly at the end of her night shift mending the front desk.
"Good morning." You say softly with a smile, you have a feeling she wouldn't enjoy an over the top kind of energy at this instant.
"Mornin', what can I do for you?"
"I'm supposed to meet with Sheriff Bodecker at 7."
The woman looks down at the time and back up at you. "You're early."
"My mama used to say that if you're right on time, then you're late."
She forces a smile, clearly not caring about what you have to say. "Have a seat, I'll let him know you're here."
"Thank you." You'd smile at her but you have a feeling that it'll only irritate her, instead you go sit where she tells you to and wait.
You watch as the woman leaves the front desk and comes back a few minutes later. "Follow me." She gestures for you to get up.
You hurry up and follow her through the station, all the way in the back to an office. She knocks quickly on the door and opens it without waiting for permission.
"Go on, I don't have all day." She nods her head to the inside of the office and as soon as you walk in, she closes the door behind you.
"Matt's cousin?" Lee asks without looking up from his desk.
"Yes, sir." You stay close to the door, unsure of what to do. For a small town, people aren't that friendly.
"Sit." He gestures to the empty chair in front of his desk. "I'm almost done here." He keeps looking through his paperwork, he still hasn't even looked at you.
As you walk over to the chair and sit, you aren't so sure if you're going to like it in this town. You're not used to this cold and detached attitude that everyone here seems to have. You're used to the warmth and cheerfulness of your hometown, but after your mama passed not long ago you decided to move closer to Matt as he's the only family you've got left. Maybe it wasn't such a great idea.
You look down and nervously smooth out your skirt while you wait for the sheriff to look at you.
‘’Alright.’’ Lee finally looks up and almost loses his composure when he sees you. You look cute as a button.
You look up at the sound of his voice and smile at him once your eyes meet. The most beautiful shade of blue you’ve ever seen.  While you’re busy admiring the blue of his eyes, you miss the way Lee’s breath hitches in his throat when you smiled at him.
The sheriff clears his throat and sits straighter in his chair. ‘’Your cousin told me you can answer the phone?’’
You nod. ‘’That’s right.’’
‘’Can you type?’’
‘’Yes.’’
‘’How do you feel about long hours?’’ He crosses his arms over his chest.
‘’I don’t mind.’’ You smile again and Lee almost has to bite the inside of his cheek to keep himself from smiling too.
‘’Your boyfriend is ok with you working?’’ He furrows his brows. ‘’Last thing I need is a pissed off guy walking in here and messing with my station.’’
‘’I don’t have a boyfriend.’’
‘’Husband then.’’
You shrug and look down, slightly embarrassed. ‘’Don’t have one of those either.’’
‘’You’re not missing out on anything, I promise you.’’
You look up and smile, appreciating his effort to comfort you.
‘’Can you start today? Right now?’’
You nod enthusiastically. ‘’I’d love to.’’
‘’Great. You’re hired. Just know that you won’t be getting any special treatment because Matt is your cousin.’’
‘’I wouldn’t want any special treatment. I’m more than capable of proving myself.’’
Lee stands up and walks around his desk, toward his door. ‘’Follow me, sweetheart.’’ He opens the door and stops right outside next to an empty desk. He waits for you to join him before talking. ‘’This is gonna be your desk. You will have to keep people out of my office sometimes when I’m real busy or meeting with someone. You gotta keep them out unless it’s an emergency. You won’t be spending much time here while I train you, you’ll mostly be in my office and following me around so I can show you how I want things done.’’
‘’You got it.’’
He grabs a notepad and a pen from the desk and hands them to you. ‘’Take notes because I don’t have time to repeat myself.’’
You take them quickly and follow Lee around as he shows you around the station, taking notes about the important things.
‘’The girls at the front desk can be a little bit mean, don’t take it personally. The guys are assholes sometimes, don’t be scared to put them in their place. I can be an asshole too but I’m your boss so there’s nothing you can do about it.’’ He winks. ‘’You might have to go grab me lunch from time to time, do you have a car?’’ You shake your head no. ‘’You’ll take mine then.’’
You keep following him around until you’ve seen the entire station, then Lee takes you back to his office and closes the door behind the two of you. He sits back in his chair and invites you to do the same.
He explains to you in great detail how he wants things done in his office. Where files and folders go, how he wants the phone to be answered and how to filter his calls.
‘’A lot of people around here call me directly when a deputy could easily do the job, they think my office number is better than 911 so you gotta filter the calls and redirect them. I don’t have enough time to take care of every crisis in Knockemstiff.’’
You nod, writing everything down.  Just as you look up, Lee’s phone starts to ring.
‘’Want to give it a try?’’
‘’Yes!’’ You get up and walk around his desk to stand next to him. You clear your throat and pick up the receiver. ‘’Sheriff Bodecker’s office, how may I help you?’’ … ‘’I’m sorry but the sheriff is in a meeting right now. What are you calling about? We have a station full of capable officers and deputies, I’m sure there’s at least one of them here that can help you.’’ … ‘’Yes, you definitely need to take him to the hospital.’’ … ‘’No ma’am, I’m no doctor but if his finger isn’t attached to the hand anymore he will need medical attention.’’ … ‘’Alright, good luck.’’ You hang up and go back to sit in your chair.
‘’Mrs. Larson?’’ Lee asks, looking at you curiously.
‘’Yes. Mr. Larson seems to have had an accident with a knife and she wanted to ask you if she should take him to the hospital or not.’’
‘’She calls at least once every two days.’’
‘’Good to know.’’ You write it down.
‘’You did a good job handling her.’’ He flashes you a small smile, if you had blinked you would have missed it.
‘’Thank you, sheriff.’’
For the rest of the morning, Lee keeps explaining how everything works until lunchtime. At exactly noon, Lee stops what he’s doing and stands up. ‘’We have an hour, starting now. We can’t waste a minute, we don’t know when an emergency is gonna come up.’’ He explains as he puts on his leather jacket. ‘’Did you bring your lunch?’’
You stand from the chair and follow him out of his office. You put down your notepad and pen on your desk as you stop walking. ‘’No, I didn’t think you’d hire me on the spot but that’s ok I had a good breakfast. I’ll just wait for you here.’’
‘’Yeah, that ain’t gonna work for me sweetheart. Come on, I’m heading to the diner.’’
You shake your head. ‘’I can’t really afford to eat out right now.’’ Heat creeps up to your cheeks, embarrassed once again at how messy your life is. Not married, not even dating and barely a cent to your name.
‘’My treat. As a thank you for starting right away and for doing a great job already. C’mon.’’ He gestures for you to follow him and you can see in his eyes that there’s no arguing with him.
‘’Thank you.’’ You follow him outside. ‘’You can take it out of my pay.’’
Lee chuckles and opens the passenger door of his cruiser, holding it open for you. ‘’That ain’t gonna happen. Go on.’’ He nods to the passenger seat and shuts the door once you’re seated. He walks around the cruiser, his belt and everything on it clinking together with every step he takes. The car dips a bit under his weight and he slams the door shut, making you jump a little which makes him laugh.
‘’Sorry, sweetness, the door sticks a little.’’ He starts the car and rolls down his window. ‘’It’s hot as hell today.’’ He groans, driving out of the station’s parking lot.
You roll down your own window to let more air in and hopefully help him cool down.
Lee notices that you didn’t react when he said hell and makes a mental note to ask you about that later.
It only takes a few minutes to get to the diner and Lee parks right next to the door, then turns off the car. He sees you’re about to roll the window back up but he stops you.
‘’Leave it, hopefully by the time we come back it won’t feel like a damn oven in here.’’ He opens his door, quickly getting out. He takes off his leather jacket and throws it in the backseat with his hat.
He opens the diner’s door and holds it open, stepping aside to let you walk in first.
‘’Such a gentleman, thank you.’’ You smile as you walk in and let him guide you to his table.
Lee can’t help but laugh when he hears you call him a gentleman. ‘’I’m no gentleman sweetness, everyone here can attest to that.’’ He sits down in his usual booth.
You sit across from him at the table. ‘’I’m sure your wife would agree with me. Florence, right? I babysat my niece so that Matt and his wife could go to your wedding a few years back.’’ You smile at the memory of spending an entire day with your niece who was barely one at the time.
Lee’s mood turns sour at the mention of Florence, he leans back in his seat and extends one of his hands on the table hitting it rhythmically with the tip of his index finger. ‘’Florence left me 10 months after we got married.’’
‘’Oh.’’ Guilt fills your eyes. ‘’I’m so sorry, sheriff. I didn’t know.’’ You instinctively reach over to his hand and give it a comforting squeeze before letting it go. ‘’I’m a strong believer that everything happens for a reason. Some things hurt more than others but that just means that whatever’s gonna happen next will be great, y’know?’’
Lee rolls his eyes. ‘’God’s plan?’’
You shake your head. ‘’No one said anything about God. It’s the universe, fate.’’
Lee frowns. ‘’You don’t believe in God?’’
You grab a menu from the table and open it. ‘’I believe in sleeping in on Sunday mornings.’’ You look over all the options from the menu, missing the way Lee smiles.
‘’We’re going to get along just fine you and me.’’ He nods to himself and takes the other menu. ‘’Order whatever you want, sweetness.’’
A waitress comes over, from her looks she can’t be older than 30, ready to take your order. ‘’Sheriff Bodecker.’’ She greets him with a fake smile. ‘’Ready to order?’’
He doesn’t even bother smiling back and hands her his menu. ‘’Same as usual.’’
She takes the menu from him and turns her attention to you. ‘’What about you, doll?’’
‘’The chicken wrap and some french fries, please.’’ You give her back your menu and you don’t miss the way she looks at Lee to check for permission.
‘’What are you looking at me for? You heard her.’’ He stares until she turns around and leaves.
‘’Thank you for lunch, and for giving me a job. I didn’t think I’d find one so quickly after moving here.’’
Lee brushes it off like it’s no big deal. ‘’What brings you here anyway?’’ He asks, curiously.
‘’My mama passed two months ago and Matt is the only family I’ve got left so I thought I’d move closer. My niece is already 3 and my nephew is almost 1. It feels like I’ve missed all the big milestones. I didn’t want to miss more.’’
‘’I’m sorry to hear that.’’ Now he feels guilty from bringing that up.
‘’Thank you.’’ You smile but it’s a sad smile, it has nothing to do with the bright smiles from this morning. ‘’She was real sick at the end, I feel relieved that she’s gone. I know it sounds horrible but I couldn’t handle seeing her suffer so much.’’
‘’I get it. I was a teenager when my ma died but even at that age I wanted her pain to stop.’’
For the entire lunch hour, you and Lee eat and ask questions to each other while trying to avoid any sensitive subjects.
Before you realize, your first week of training is done and then the second one. In the blink of an eye, an entire month has gone by.
Lee is usually a cold, distant man but to everyone’s surprise, especially his own, you manage to pull him out of his shell. He’s a lot more carefree around you. Just around you. Most officers haven't seen Lee laugh and smile since before his divorce, it's a nice change of pace because even if he acts all nice and sweet only with you he has softened up a tiny bit with the others. He now tends to let things go or turn a blind eye when he normally wouldn't.
Every Monday and Friday morning you would come in early with a basket of freshly made baked goods that you would leave in the break room for everyone to enjoy with their coffee. You always separate them into two batches; one for the night shift who are about to leave and one for the day shift who are starting their day.
Needless to say both shifts appreciate having a little something to either start or finish their day on a good note.
Even if you think you're being subtle, everyone knows that almost every day you have a little something special for Lee. You've heard him make comments here and there about his shape and the way he looked, even if you think he is perfect the way that he is you know that it's not enough to change his mind. Instead you bring him homemade lunches, he doesn't have the time nor the energy to cook for himself and by bringing him his lunch he doesn't have to eat at the diner.
He tries to play it cool, he pretends like it's not a big deal but you can see a difference in his mood and confidence. There's a twinkle in his eyes that didn't used to be there and you hope he never loses it again.
"Sweetness, you need to stop bringing me food." He looks at you as you walk into his office with a very familiar brown paper bag in your hand.
"Are you gonna start bringing yourself food?" You arch a brow, knowing the answer before he even says it.
"... You know I don't have the time."
"Then I won't stop bringing you food." You put the paper bag on his desk.
He shakes his head and tries to give it back but you don't take it. "Just say thank you, sheriff."
He sighs and gives up. "Thank you."
"You're welcome." You smile brightly at him before leaving his office and closing his door.
It's the same fight every day and you win, every day.
Your cousin has noticed how close you and the sheriff have gotten and he's not sure how he feels about it. He's known you your entire life so he recognizes the look in your eyes whenever Lee's around. You like Lee and there's no denying it.
He makes you laugh and he's always sweet to you. You've become close friends  and it's not rare for people to see you out and about with him. They can gossip all they want neither of you care. Your friendship is more important than the opinion of the bored housewives of Knockemstiff.
As the eternal optimist that you are, you've let yourself think that maybe, just maybe, Lee could like you too. It's hard to tell because he's so closed off but there are times you think he might have feelings for you.
You're never going to tell him how you feel because you don't want to lose your friend or your job. Deep down you hope that Lee will wake up one day and realize that he likes you too, and decides to do something about it.
You mentally chastise yourself for staying hopeful but that's what keeps you going.
Until your hopes are completely crushed.
Every night before leaving you find Lee to ask if he needs you to do anything else before leaving and to say goodnight.
He's not in his office so you go look for him in the break room. Lee and one of the officers are standing next to the table, drinking coffee and eating whatever's left from the baked goods you brought before leaving for the weekend.
You're about to call out to him but the subject of their conversation stops you.
They're talking about you.
"Aren't you glad Matt suggested her for the job?"
"Yeah. She does a great job and she learns fast."
"She's cute and she cooks on top of everything else she does for you. Did Sheriff Bodecker find wife number two?" The officer chuckles at his own words, not knowing that you can hear everything and that your heart is pounding in your chest as you wait for Lee's answer.
You don't expect to become his wife but depending on his reaction you might be able to tell if he likes you in the same way that you do.
The way Lee scoffs doesn't announce anything good.
"Are you out of your mind? Her?" He shakes his head and laughs. "Like that's ever gonna happen. Keep your stupid ideas to yourself and get back to work." He rolls his eyes and turns toward the door, feeling like someone was there but there's no one.
It hurts. You've known that something is wrong with you because no man wants to marry you but to hear it like this, like marrying you is the dumbest thing any man could do, and from someone you thought was your friend, hurt.
You've been fooling yourself about your friendship with him because Lee's tone and words were laced with so much disdain that there is no way he respects you enough to be your friend.
You want to run out of the station but you don't want to look suspicious so you walk out calmly, wishing everyone a good weekend and then you leave without another word, heading straight to your apartment.
Lee is surprised to see your desk empty as you normally always say good night before leaving. You're probably walking around, looking for him. He goes back to his desk but leaves the door open, to see you when you'll walk back to your desk.
An entire hour goes by before Lee comes to the conclusion that you've left. Without saying goodbye which is highly unusual for you.
Every Friday afternoon you find Lee, ask if he needs you to stay longer, make plans with him for the weekend and then you'd leave.
He has a bad feeling but he just shakes it off, he'll see you tomorrow like every Saturday.
The whole weekend goes by without him hearing a peep from you. He doesn't even leave the house to make sure he doesn't miss your phone call, but nothing.
On Monday morning he gets to the station a little earlier than usual to make sure he's there when you arrive.
You come into the station empty handed which disappoints every employee. No baked goods and no lunch for Lee.
You don't go into his office to wish him good morning, instead you sit at your desk and start working right away.
The pit in Lee's stomach keeps growing.
"Can you come in here, please?" He speaks loud enough for you to hear as you're right outside his door.
You stand up, grab your notepad and pen, then walk into Lee's office and stand behind the chair you usually sit on to tell him about something funny or to listen to him talk about whatever is currently pissing him off.
"You need something, Sheriff Bodecker?" You barely look up and it makes Lee frown. You never call him Sheriff Bodecker. At least not seriously. It's always Lee or, if you're teasing, sometimes you'll still call him Sheriff but it's always playful.
This was not.
"Somethin' wrong, sweetness?"
"Everything is fine. What do you need?"
Your eyes finally meet but there's no warmth in yours. They are cold and… empty.
"Nothing, for now. You left without saying goodbye on Friday and I haven't seen you all weekend. Just wanted to catch up is all."
You stop yourself from rolling your eyes and you bite back whatever you were about to say. You know what he really thinks of you and you hate that he pretends to care.
"Call me when you need something, then." You walk out of his office and sit back behind your desk to keep working.
Lee comes out of his office for lunch and stops in front of your desk on his way out. "I'm going to the diner. Wanna come?" He looks down, trying to decipher what's going on in that head of yours.
"No, thank you."
For the entire week all you do is come in, work, go home. You don't talk to anyone but Matt, you don't bring anything for anyone, there's no smile, no kind words, nothing. It's like you're an entirely different person and no one knows why or what happened.
On Friday afternoon Lee can't take it anymore and he orders you into his office, shutting the door once you're inside.
He sits back in his chair and leans back, staring at you.
"Look, I don't know what's been going on with you but everyone is worried about you. Clearly something happened but you won't talk to me about it and I don't know why you're shutting down like this."
You can't help but roll your eyes at his words, which Lee doesn't miss.
"Ok. Enough. What's wrong?" He sits up, getting angry.
"Nothing is wrong." You cross your arms in front of you.
"Then what's with the attitude?!"
"No one is worried about me. You just want me to start bringing you food again. Tell everyone that I'll bring food on Monday."
You turn to leave but Lee's loud voice tells you to stop.
"We're not done here."
You sigh and turn around.
"What the hell has gotten into you?" He stands up behind his desk, leaning forward and holding himself up with his hands laid flat on the top of his desk. "You don't talk to your boss that way and certainly not to your friend. You owe me respect."
"You mean the same kind of respect you gave me when you talked about me with one of your officers in the break room last week?"
He frowns, confused. "What are you talking about?"
"Are you out of your mind? Her? Like that's ever gonna happen. Keep your stupid ideas to yourself and get back to work." You repeat word for word what he said about you, making sure to use the same disgusted tone he did.
Lee's eyes widen as he finally understands. There had been someone there like he thought. You.
"Sweetness-"
You cut him off. "The only reason I'm still here is because I need this job. I am looking for a new job, hopefully with a boss that won't be disgusted by me. You should start looking for my replacement." You walk out of his office, stopping long enough to grab your things then leaving without another word.
Lee falls back into his chair, staring into nothing.
He's so angry with himself. He was trying so hard to pretend that he wasn't falling for you and hiding his feelings, he never thought that he could hurt you. Without meaning to, he played right into your insecurities and made it sound like something was wrong with you, that someone wanting to marry you is insane, and you heard everything.
Lee has had a crush on you from the moment he looked up from his desk and saw you for the first time. He's almost embarrassed by the fact that he, a grown man, has a crush like a hormonal teenager because before you, he's pretty sure the last time he had a crush on someone was in high school.
It's only been a little over a month since you started working at the station, though it feels like he's known you his entire life.
He adores you in every possible way and he's grown to love you with every moment you've spent together. You spend at least 8 hours a day together from Monday through Friday and then you spend more time together on his days off. If he could, he'd spend every single minute of his day with you without ever getting tired of you.
If he is being honest what you overheard was true, that's exactly how he felt but not because of you, because of him.
Why in the world would an amazing, kind and sweet woman like you want to be with him, marry him? There's no chance in hell that he's good enough for you, to be yours. Plus, he's your boss. It's not like he could hit on you. Well, he could but he didn't want to seem like a creep. He wants to be perfect for you and the general consensus around town is that Lee Bodecker is everything but perfect.
He made that stupid comment in the break room because he didn't want rumors going around that he liked you, he didn't want to jeopardize your friendship. He ended up doing even worse, he ruined and broke it.
He realized he was in love with you two weeks ago when Matt hosted a dinner at his house. Lee almost died from a heart attack when he first saw you in your cute summer dress looking as beautiful as ever. Then he watched as you played with your niece and he saw how much you loved her. For the first time in his life, Lee wanted children. He wanted children and he wanted them with you.
It became clear as day in his mind that he was in love with you, that he'd love nothing more than to make you his. Put the prettiest ring around your finger, buy you the house of your dreams and give you as many babies as you want.
He has never felt like this before, not even with Florence, and truthfully it terrifies him. Especially now that he has ruined everything. He has no idea how he's going to fix this mess but he sure as hell is going to try.
Lee is pulling a double today so he can't even run after you, he's stuck at the station and it's driving him crazy.
His officers quickly realize that the honeymoon phase is over and that Lee's bad mood and short temper are back in full force, they make sure to avoid him as much as physically possible.
His shift ends at 6 on Saturday morning and at 6:01 Lee is walking out of his office. He gets into his cruiser and drives to your apartment. He doesn't care if he wakes you up, he needs to fix it and he needs to fix it now.
He parks on the street in front of your door and slams his door shut before hurrying to your front door. Even as he knocks, he doesn't know what he's going to say. Hopefully, he won't make things worse.
You are startled awake by someone pounding on your door, you look at your alarm clock to find that it's not even 6:15 am and it's Saturday morning, why is someone pounding on your door at this hour?
You throw the covers at the foot of your bed and hurry out of bed, you grab your robe on your way out of your room and put it on before opening the front door. The last person you expected to see was Lee, yet here he stands in front of you.
You should have checked the peephole before opening the door.
Lee's heart painfully clenches when he sees the hurt and sadness settle in your eyes at the sight of him. He opens his mouth and closes it a few times without making any sound, he has so much to say yet nothing feels right.
He wraps an arm around your waist and pulls you into his chest, crashing his lips onto yours. Lee sighs with relief when he feels you kissing him back almost right away. He uses his free hand to cup your cheek, stroking your skin with his thumb while also putting just enough pressure to make you tilt your head back to have better access to your lips.
Your heart has never beaten this fast before and as you wrap your arms around his neck to pull yourself closer to him, you can't help but to think that he has to be feeling your heartbeat against his chest.
Breathless, Lee breaks the kiss but barely moves an inch away from you. He opens his eyes and rests his forehead against yours, breathing deeply to get some oxygen back into his lungs.
Once you've managed to pull yourself out of the kissing haze you got lost into, you remember the situation that led to Lee showing up at your door at this hour. You let go of him, unwrapping your arms from around his neck but his arm around your waist stops you from going anywhere.
"I'm sorry for being such an asshole, sweetness." He finally says, speaking softly before leaning back to be able to look at you. "What you heard, I meant it."
You shake your head and try to get out of his grip but he doesn't let you go, if anything he tightens his hold on your waist.
"I meant it but not in the way you heard it. I meant that a girl like you would never go for a guy like me."
He looks into your eyes, trying to guess how you're feeling.
"I don't want you to quit. I want to keep seeing you every day at work. I need to see you every day at work. I'm so crazy about you, it's almost embarrassing but I don't care anymore. I don't care who knows it and what people are going to say about it. I don't care how cliché it is that I fell in love with my assistant because you make me happy." He tucks a strand of your messy bed hair behind your ear.
"Lee…" You sigh, not knowing what to say or how to act. Lee is your boss but most importantly he's your best friend and you fell in love with him. How could you not? Lee is perfect, for you at least others might disagree, and there's nothing you'd love more than to be with him but you can't get the conversation you overheard out of your head. One, amazing, kiss won't make you forget. You try to pull away and this time he lets you. You take a few steps back into your apartment and tighten your robe around you. "What you said, how you said it… it hurt me."
"I'm so sorry." He watches you, fear written all across his face at the thought that maybe there is no fixing his mess. "I was just trying to protect myself, and you, from the rumors and gossip. I shouldn't have said what I said and for that I'm sorry. I'm sorry for hurting you but I'm not sorry for trying to protect you and our friendship." He says seriously. "What do I have to do for you to forgive me and give me a chance?" He takes a step forward, standing in the doorway. "You love me just as much as I love you, I felt it in the kiss. Tell me, what do you need from me? Do you want me to beg? Because for you baby I'll get on my knees right now."
Lee doesn't even give you a chance to talk. He walks into your apartment and stands right in front of you before getting on both knees, looking up at you. "I'm beyond sorry and I'll apologize everyday for the rest of my life if I need to." He puts his hands on your hips and squeezes gently.
You hold back a gasp at the sight of Lee kneeling down in front of you. The sheriff Bodecker who is feared amongst all is on his knees and begging in your apartment where he can easily be seen by anyone who walks by.
You look down at him and lift up a hand, stroking his short hair on the top of his head as you feel him getting anxious.
"I forgive you." You say quietly, scared that he might make you regret how quickly you forgave him.
His eyes completely light up and he pulls you closer to him, pressing kisses on your stomach on top of your robe from his excitement. He gets up as fast as he can and grabs your cheeks, smiling down at you.
"Don't make me regret forgiving you, Lee Bodecker."
Lee can see a hint of a playful glimmer back into your eyes and it makes his heart skip a beat.
"No ma'am." He kisses your forehead, nose and lips. "Next time I'm getting down on my knees, it'll be to put a ring on your finger." He says confidently.
"Is that so?" You arch a brow, smiling.
He nods. "Definitely. How do you feel about being future Mrs. Lee Bodecker, mh?"
You pretend to think about it and shrug. "Guess you'll have to ask to find out."
He pulls you into another kiss, this time he can't stop smiling even when his lips are pressed to yours.
For the first time since his divorce Lee feels happy again. He sees a future for himself that doesn't revolve around work or a bottle of whiskey and he can't wait to go through everything with you. The good and the bad, as long as you're standing next to him and holding his hand there's nothing he can't do.
For now Lee closes your front door and follows you back into your room, stripping down to his underwear before getting into bed with you, for you to finish your night of sleep and for him to finally have a chance to sleep.
For the next couple of days, it'll be just you and Lee with the entire world outside forgotten. Of course there will be talk around town of the Sheriff's cruiser being parked in front of your apartment for the entire weekend without moving once but you will deal with it all on Monday morning when you're ready to face the world again.
For now all that matters is you and Lee, the rest is a problem for another day.
