What is the life series? What is it all about, really?
Ask the avian, the first victor, in a comfy red sweater and wings sprouting from his back, and he'll say with a forced shrug, as he leans against a tree, it's about life. Bonding, alliances made and alliances torn, enemies made and battles won. It’s all rather poetic, and rather fun to watch.
The way he says the last word causes the camera of the mind to stumble back, and hastily zoom in on another figure in blue. Crystals are swirling around his head, oh so shiny, as he says with quiet defiance in his eyes, it’s a game. Entertainment, for those who want it, and torture, for those in it. Uncertain and unpredictable like all games. The best bet is to cling onto whoever you know and hope you will survive.
A shift yet again, onto another winner, strolling around. Her hoodie is blue but flickers red every once in a while, like lightning. Her wings rustle as she says with a cynical chuckle, it’s the world. Your fate is shaped and you’re always, always inevitably linked to it somehow. The choices are made; you just follow them. But maybe others will carve a different path.
Ask the survivor, in a green shirt and blondish hair. He’s sitting at the seaside, and he says as a new wave converges with the shore, it’s a death match. And don’t you forget it, because in the end it’s all about who survives, and anyone who clings onto other ideals is foolish and dead. There’s no need to kill time when you can simply kill.

“This 98-year-old woman has had a total of 622 ‘descendants’…because at age 16 she married a 50-year-old widower with 10 children, SOME OF WHOM WERE OLDER THAN HER AND HAD THEIR OWN KIDS ALREADY, and then had 13 more children by him, but news outlets report on it like a cute human interest story”
sounds like an SNL skit where the “straight man” character gets increasingly disturbed while everyone else acts happy and charmed
And. Fucking. Yet.

since we’ve heard they’re in talks for the 5th life smp season i’ve seen people saying zedaph should be added and at first i was like “hmm… i don’t know if that would go well.” and i say that as an enormous zedaph enjoyer. he’s extremely talented and funny and he gets along great with everyone, but he also spends all his time in a hole doing redstone crafts by himself and he’s kind of allergic to lore. typical hermit behavior doesn’t mesh well with the constraints of the series, so i thought, “if zedaph can’t do his normal mad scientist thing, what can he do?”
but then i realized. the series is so short-lived that people don’t spend time doing redstone or constructing elaborate builds. resources are extremely limited and players have to interact with each other. the life series forces everyone out of their comfort zone in one way or another.
we know that more typically solitary players have done well, and i know zedaph would rise to the challenge. he’s also an absolute wildcard. he has to put his energy somewhere. so now the question is, if zedaph can’t do redstone, what will he do instead?

nothing against the authors writing arthur this way, but does anyone else think it’s an absolute bitch move on arthur’s part when he finds out about merlin’s magic to just keep it to himself until he can get merlin to admit it?
i understand when he’s scared of confronting merlin, sacred he’ll make him run or scared of change, but just deciding to say nothing until he can get him to confess like a game? i feel like it’s a bit fucked up.
especially when he just pities himself like, I’ve said magic is cool at least ten times now, thinking aloud about legalizing it, why won’t merlin trust me??? just gonna watch him suffer ‘til he finally comes forward.
like bitch no??? years and years of trauma and repression won’t get reversed in a month, hell even in a year. he’s not told fuckin anyone, he’s outta himself on accident and by necessity, he’s terrified and he’s not used to being able to tell people. maybe he wants to, but there’s an emotional block that comes with an entire goddamn life of repression. it’s not about you and seeing if you can tease a confess out of this lovely and terrified man. just be nice, let him know it’s safe, tell him you know and you love him still.

It’s currently a fan theory as to why Alastor keeps Husk around, the theory being that Alastor simply likes cats, and spared Husk because his demon form was a cat. So to him Husk is essentially a pet, who he likes to have around to look at, not even to like most of the time (like any cat owner), just to be there, is all a cat owner asks of the cat.
Sure, but like. That’s not what Alastor does with Husk? He literally summons him to act as the barkeep/man the front desk of the hotel. Husk’s reaction to Alastor summoning him, and Mimzy’s comment about how Alastor still has him swinging hooch implies that it isn’t something too uncommon for him to do, but also not something he does everytime Alastor needs something to be done. And even then Alastor has to bribe him with alcohol to get Husk to agree with working at the hotel.
Alastor doesn’t treat him like a cat, he treats him like a reluctant employee. Husk even calls Alastor boss. Nothing about Alastor’s actions with Husk implies he thinks about Husk that way aside from that one interaction where Alastor is deliberately trying to get under Husk’s skin.
Personally, I believe Alastor keeps Husk around because 1) he’s useful, 2) Alastor’s said to have a weird moral code, and 3) Husk went to Alastor to make that deal, Alastor didn’t target Husk. And it probably happened sometime after he stopped hunting down overlords. It makes Husk interesting, I don’t think many people (overlords) would be desperate enough (or confident enough) to go to the dude who’s known for torturing and killing overlords and then broadcasting their dying screams to the rest of Hell for so much as disrespecting him, and expect to get a good deal out of him over just being killed.
