shaken out of his thoughts, eddie looks down to two big brown eyes and a mop of hair on his chest. he stops mid stroke in his hair.

“what?”

“you heard me. would you still love me if i was a worm?”

steve has been asking a lot of weird questions like these lately. eddie thinks he got them from robin.

the room silent, other than a soft record playing in the background, he answers.

“yes. i would still love you if were a worm”

“really? would you actually truly love me? even if i was all slimy and small and ate dirt?”

“yes i would still love you if you were all slimy and small and ate dirt”

if it were physically possible, steve’s pupils would turn into hearts.

“actually, i would build you a whole house with so many locks so no one could break in and step on you. id shout if from the roof tops that ‘IM IN LOVE WITH A WORM AND I DONT CARE WHO KNOWS IT!!’”

he goes back to combing his hand through steve’s hair.
