genya's DISAPPOINTMENT doesn't go unnoticed by david. a part of him feels bad for saying something that he knew would make her be disappointed, but he was just being HONEST, as he always was. david was never a social butterfly, and would rather stay in the confides of his workshop than have to mingle with others. he didn't mind genya's company, but having to be around others? well, if he had a choice in the matter, he'd rather stay here. parties weren't his thing, and even having genya around to make things more bearable wouldn't change his mind about it.

his dark gaze looks up at genya, a brief flash of surprise when she suggests that she STAY with him instead. it wouldn't be the first time the pair would spend time in the workshop together. as genya would often come by with some repairs for the queen's things. or sometimes she'd just visit him just because. however, he had not that that his company was WORTH genya skipping out on a party.

"you would skip a party to spend time with me?" the DISBELIEF in his tone is evident. he genuinely can't comprehend why genya would want to stay with him here while he's doing his work when she could be elsewhere enjoying herself. "if...if you want to stay here with me, i wouldn't have any objections." he finally adds. while having genya around would prove to be a distraction from his work, it was WELCOMED. he would take the excuse to spend more time with genya if she'll allow it.

Both hands gripped the rail as Portia stared into the night sky. The stars were barely visible within the city, especially on a night like tonight. The scent of smoke filled the air as the fires across the city grew larger and larger. They were safe for now, but how long? The fires would only incite more rage from the people, enraged at her for something she could not - no. That wasn't quite right, was it? It's not that she couldn't stop it. She was the one who started it. It had to be done. There were many who opposed her rise to power, many who once supported her have since switched sides. Portia felt the phantom pain spread across her arm, the fangs that tore into her arm. Bending over, she gasped. Deep, ragged breaths. In. Out. In. Out. The pain slowly eased even as tears ran down her face. Her right arm gripped her left, feeling the cold metal under her fingers. The arm had been amputated for months now but the pain and the memories seemed to never stop.

Leaning against the balcony rails, Portia glared out across the city. Lady Thaisa was ideally trapped in that damn pub. Lady Thaisa, Lady Albany, and Lord Robin. They would pay for their betrayal to their queen. Even if she had to take out half the city to do so.
