I know that the fandom isn't as active as it was in the past, and that lack of engagement on your work can be really frustrating.

It's also okay to need to take a step back from creating until you feel that spark again.
You are still an important part of the fandom regardless of note, word, and publication counts.

earwig (order Dermaptera) info-dump bc they're really cool insects that have really unique behaviors
- there are about 2,000 different species of earwigs, 10 of which are native to north america. earwigs when in there native ranges are extremely beneficial to the environment
- the european earwig (Forficula auricularia) is an invasive species in north america, and unfortunately is now a super common insect to see
- earwigs are edible! i have been told they taste like soft shell crab
- earwigs are extremely maternal, once a female earwig legs eggs she will care for them until adulthood. this is rare, only about 1% of all insects are maternal
- hump earwigs (Anechura harmandi) commit what's called matriphagy. after months of the mom raising her young, the offspring will then consume her
- sometimes earwig moms will abuse/neglect their young. those young will then share food and take care of each other, typically those behaviors are only seen in social Hymenoptera (bees, ants, and wasps)
- earwigs have some of the most intricate wings. there's about 20 different fold lines, and fold up to be 10x or more smaller than when the earwig is in flight. no other animal wing is this complex
- the giant earwig (Labidura herculeana) now extinct grew to be about 3 inches long

one day i will write my five-page dissertation on why eddie bought that big ass truck with his fight club money so soon after shannon died and his son experienced a natural disaster and his mother passing and buck did what he did and he couldn't even talk to him and why he kept the fucking thing and still to this day seems to prefer buck driving him around than to actually drive it in the first place like sir be serious. if one thing! that truck and his continuous (non) use of it told me everything i needed to know. like i will never shut up about this it's my 911 specific roman empire

autism is so fucking hated, you arent allowed to be high functioning because youre "faking it", you arent allowed to be low functioning because youre "faking it" and all of us are expected to just try harder and "stop acting stupid" (which is extra insidious when intellectual disabilities are so commonly comorbid with autism)
oh you need some help with getting things done? grow up
oh you need someone to remind you to shower/take meds/etc? grow up
oh youre nonverbal/nonspeaking or lose speech at times? just Talk
oh you Cant Eat unless its This Specific Food? grow up
oh you dont understand when something is dangerous? stop being stupid
oh you need lots of help with bADLs? youre a leech. do it yourself
oh you need a caregiver in order to keep yourself alive? youre so dramatic, everyone else manages just fine without one, why cant you?
oh you can get around for the most part in day-to-day life but need extra support in some areas? youre just exaggerating, youre not really autistic
autistic people are literally never allowed to just exist in society. we are always expected to prove something, whether thats being autistic or being human beings that deserve respect
youre either not autistic enough or too autistic for allistics and its really fucking annoying. autism is a real disability and those of us who are autistic live with it every single day. it can be extremely disabling or it can be a bit of a nuisance or it could be both or somwhere in between or fluctuate depending on the day
stop shaming autistic people for being autistic in a way you dont like or arent used to seeing. that goes for everyone, other autistic people included

A gentle reminder that the person you're sending hate to is a human being. Not a corporation, not a government agency. A human being who reads your words and internalizes them.
If you don't like their work, unfollow them. If you don't want them on your blog, block them. If you feel comfortable doing so, you can DM them and let them know that something they posted bothered you. Often times, it's a matter of misunderstanding that can be easily cleared up with conversation.
You are wishing ill on someone's child, someone's parent, someone's friend. You are telling someone's partner, someone's sibling that the world would be better without them.
To anyone out there receiving anon hate, your presence is so important. Not just on Tumblr, but to the people around you.
Take deep breaths, turn off anonymous messages, and keep yourself safe. Your worth is far beyond the scope of what any hateful anon can even fathom.

had to update the tags on 'Crack Your Molars While You Dream' because uh.. it's heading in a direction that I was kind of expecting but also wasn't.
TBH this story probably couldn't have ended any other way, especially since it's a complicated premise to begin with (and is focused on the POV of a character I don't write a lot about)
But yeah, I don't want people going into this last chapter with ideas of a happy reconciliation, bc there's too much going on for it to work.
And in order for there to be a happy reconciliation, I'd have to write. So many more chapters, and this story was never meant to grow into that point lmao
But yeah, it's almost done, so here's your heads up
