Buck & Eddie: Petty Eddie vs. Jealous Buck

Which one of them had the most noticeable negative reactions to the other's girlfriends so far?

Buck and Eddie always make faces at or comments towards each other's girlfriends. It happens more often than most viewers would think and it should cause the audience to question why these things happened in CANON if Buck and Eddie were only meant to be seen as simply best friends or brothers. Best friends or platonic bros don't get jealous, petty or sassy with their friends' girlfriends. Their reactions towards the women are the same as those of jealous people when they feel like their significant other is doing something wrong like flirting or ignoring them.

Eddie became very possessive and petty when Buck was flirting with Taylor in 2x6 "Dosed". He was lifting weights in the firehouse gym when he noticed them smiling and gazing at each other and he quickly got Buck's attention when he slammed those weights down and started talking at them from across the room. Buck looked towards Eddie like he was guilty of doing something wrong. Taylor saw their reactions and her cameraman caught it all on film; therefore she's always known about BuckandEddie. When Eddie approached them, he sided eyed Buck first as if to say 'You know better. How dare you do that and I'm right over here. This better not happen again' and then he looked at Taylor like 'Don't flirt with him because he's mines'.

In 2x10 "Merry X-Mas" Buck was jealous of Shannon but the audience probably missed it. When she came to the firehouse and told Eddie maybe if they 'talked there they wouldn't end up in bed together' Eddie said 'let's go talk somewhere private'. The audience probably missed Buck's reaction because if you blinked you missed it but Buck turned his head to the right and looked appalled after learning this new information. He looked like he wanted to say ‘WTF Eddie? You didn’t tell me your wife was back. Why didn’t you tell me?’ Later he would ask Chimney, "It's like he's sleeping with his own wife and he's lying about it. Don't you think that's weird?" When Eddie and Buck took Christopher to see Santa Klaus, Eddie tried to justify sleeping with his own wife to his best friend. Why would he feel the need to do that if he and Buck were just friends? 👀👀👀 Bros don't try to explain things like that to each other mainly because they don't care if or when their friend has sex with his own wife so...

Eddie didn't tell Buck he had been partnered with Lena since the Tsunami in 3x4 "Triggers". He knew from 3x1 "Kids Today" that Buck felt depressed about not being able to go back to work so that should have been something he mentioned in 3x3 "The Searchers" before he left Buck's loft to go to work after he dropped Christopher off. Buck looked happy doing his little light duty as the Fire Marshall until he heard Lena call Eddie "DIAZ"! Reminder in 2x1 "Under Pressure" Buck asked Eddie, "Does anyone ever call you Diaz"? Eddie replied, "Not if they want me to respond". So imagine Buck's shock when he heard that and then his anger when he saw who it was saying it. Eddie tried to play if off by saying "Good to see you man" but remember this was right after Eddie had just finished checking out Buck's butt. When Buck looked at Lena it looked like he wanted to say, "Who is that B!+©#"? He was pissed and that was one of the reasons why he filed that lawsuit. He told Eddie in 3x6 "Monsters" he 'missed being there with the team' and it 'looked like they were moving on without him and there was nothing he could do about it'.

In 3x18 "What's Next?", it was clear Eddie hated Abby even before he ever met her. In 2x4 "Stuck" he told Buck, "You're living in your invisible girlfriend's house and you're telling me about weak excuses". Therefore it was not a surprise when Eddie realized who she was when Buck said her name. He looked even more shocked than Buck did and he was about to touch Buck's shoulder to comfort him before he walked away but he didn't. He had to still be listening to their conversation because how else would he have known Buck made her a promise? He eavesdropped that's how🙃🙃🙃. Eddie became angry while they were inside of the train car because Buck reverted back to being reckless to save Sam and keep his promise to Abby. Eddie yelled at Buck and said, "Buck STOP! I know you made a promise". He wasn't just mad about Abby's return, he was also afraid Buck would get himself killed which meant he would be gone just like Shannon. Remember this was after the KITCHEN and The WELL scenes. When Abby was getting in the ambulance, Eddie was shaking his head 'yes' as if to say 'You get your @$$ out of here and don't come back'.

In 4x6 "Jinx" Buck was jealous when Eddie told the team he had other plans for breakfast. Bobby pushed Eddie towards Ana and Buck wasn't happy about it. This was the second time his facial expression showed how he really felt about Eddie dating someone. He looked like he couldn't believe Eddie was actually going on a date with her and he also looked hurt and confused by it. Neither of them had dated anyone in more than a year at that point and they had both been single since the end of season 2.

Eddie was being petty about Buck pairing up with Taylor for the treasure hunt in 4x12 "Treasure Hunt". He wanted to partner with Buck but when Buck told him he had already made a deal with Taylor, Eddie looked hurt and sad. That caused Buck to crumble and invite Eddie to join their team. When they got to Buck's loft it was easy to see that Eddie was being left out of the planning process so he sat in the back making sassy comments like "Go team". He kept watching Buck and Taylor's interactions like a jealous boyfriend. But remember he was dating Ana so why was he acting in that manner?

In 4x14 "Survivors", even though Buck answered Ana's call while he was at his loft and asked her "Ana, is everything ok?", he didn't acknowledge her at the hospital. Actually he looked past her and looked right at Eddie. The look on his face was that of joy, love and relief. His facial expression said 'Babe, I thought I had lost you. Don't ever leave me because I can't live without you' and Eddie's facial expression said, 'I'm here and I'll always come back to you'. Buck looked like he could finally breathe again and Eddie's heart eyes towards him told the same story. Based on how they were fixated on each other, it was like Ana didn't exist. That wouldn't be the last time Buck ignored Ana.

When Ana brought Christopher to the firehouse in 5x2 "Desperate Times", Buck completely ignored her. He never glanced in her direction and he didn't speak to, acknowledge or address her. His eyes remained focused on Christopher, Eddie and sometimes Ravi. If Buck and Eddie were just friends, why did Buck act that way towards her? He made it seem like she was intruding on his family time🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️.

In 5x11 "Outside Looking In" while Eddie, Buck and Christopher were eating dinner, Eddie gave Taylor the same "Maybe you should go home look" that he gave Ana during their breakup. It was interesting to see her inside of Eddie's house again especially since it appeared that everyone (the audience, characters, writers, producers and cast) knows Eddie hates Taylor except for Buck. Buck wasted no time scarfing down Eddie's home cooked meal and the heart eyes he gave Buck were like, 'Babe, I cooked it all for you and I hope you like it'🍽️🍵.

In 5x14 "Dumb Luck", Eddie was sarcastic when he asked Buck "What kind of research?" after Buck said Taylor helped him find the Equine Therapy place. He huffed out that question like 'Buck, you know I hate her so why do you keep saying her name around me'?🤪🤪🤪

Eddie's facial expression was that of a jealous boyfriend when Buck briefly glanced over at Lucy and Taylor while they were talking in 5x16 "May Day". He looked absolutely disgusted at the fact that Buck would turn away from him to look towards them. His facial expression may have been worse if Buck had told him about how he kissed Lucy.

Eddie is very possessive and petty towards anyone that shows any romantic feelings towards Buck. Buck on the other hand is a bit more subtle with his reactions towards the women Eddie dated or was married to. Hopefully they will define their relationship in season 6 so they will no longer have to exhibit petty and jealous characteristics towards anyone else.
