"A long time ago..He was a friend. I don't talk that much about the years I spent abroad,honing the craft of crime-fighting. The road that ended with batman. It was a lonely road,Dick. Until I met a young man. He had been making his own way around the world, as I had done. He wanted to be the greatest crime-fighter in the world. His ego was unbearable,But i had never met another person who I thought like I did. We would stay up late, night after night,talking about the skills we wanted to learn. The sort of technology we hoped might exist in our adult lives, and all we wanted to build. We'd each come up with unsolvable mysteries and pit them against each other, trying to stump the other. I hadn't had a real friend in years. I didn't allow myself to get close to people in school. I pushed each of them away,holding the mission in my mind. And so,one night I finally decided to tell I’m who I was,and why I was fighting. I told him about the night my parents died. I told him about the oath. About my mission.

He told me I that I was weak.”
