Hıdırlık Tower is a cylindrical tower built on the Antalya city walls in the 2nd century.Hidirlik Tower, AntalyaThe tower, built in the 2nd century, is located at the southwest corner of the city walls in Karaalioğlu Park. It is 14 m high, square at the bottom and cylindrical at the top. It is thought to have been built by the Roman emperor Hadriyanus. There is a small room on the lower floor, and on the upper floor there is a walking area around a rather thick wall mass. From here, a staircase leads to the upper floor through a corridor. The tower was used as a lighthouse and watchtower for ships arriving in the bay. Due to the fresco remains on the lower floor room walls, which have been lost for centuries due to water infiltration, it is shown as a hero's tomb by some sources.

“TROUBLE WHEN SONS OF FREEDOM OUSTED,” The Province (Vancouver). April 29, 1932. Page 2. ---- Road In Doukhobor District Blocked to Impede Eviction. ---- VICTORIA, April 29. - Community Doukhobors appealed in vain today for the intervention of the law to handle their radical brethren, the Sons of Freedom. In a telegram to Attorney-General Pooley, John Shukin, vice-president of the Community Doukhobors asked for the help of the Provincial Police in evicting the Sons of Freedom from the community villages of Krestova. Mr. Pooley's prompt reply was that the government had nothing to do with the internal arrangements of the Dnnkhobor Colony, and certainly would not participate in its disputes. If some of the colonists are to be moved from one place to another, Mr. Pooley said, this is not the concern of the government, which us interested only in the enforcement of the law.
NELSON, April 29. - Further friction between Christian Community of Universal Brotherhood and the Sons of Freedom, in connection with "peaceable eviction" of the latter by the former from community property at Brilliant, was in evidence Wednesday.
Community truck, containing Sons of Freedom household goods, were dashing over the country, bound for Krestova, the settlement in which the community is trying to relegate the rebellious fanatics, who do not pay dues, while great numbers of Doukhobors of both majority and minority factions, aswell as independent, were watching proceedings.
Barricades of cordwood, presumably erected by the Son of Freedom to impede the programme of the community, blocked the road to Krestova. A Nelson truck driver delivering goods to Krestova encountered two of the barriers, and when he proceeded to remove them, men appeared and ordered him to leave them intact. He paid no attention to the orders, and completed his mission.
In the afternoon Peter Veregin, president of the community, and spiritual leader of the Doukhobor sect, addressed a great gathering of mixed allegiance at Tarrys.  At night he spoke to another big gathering at Brilliant, with the usual discord on the part of the non-co-operators.

Squad members, content creation, and money
Want to talk about how prominent squad members are making considerable, full-time incomes off of producing royal commentary that is often untrue
From a PennLive article on A. Matta: https://archive.ph/nGAZs#selection-1433.545-1442.0
“Coming to terms with that was tough, but I’m two years on from that and that’s what made me decide how valuable these conversations are,” Matta said. “If they’re going to make people that angry and upset and to threaten my livelihood and talk about my family, I felt like I had two choices: Back down entirely and just stop, but something in that situation was sort of screaming to me, ‘No this is important and you’re hitting a nerve. If you’re confident in what you’re doing, keep doing it. Be smart about it, but keep doing it,’ Matta said.
Since then, Matta has continued to grow her following, allowing her to make content creation a full-time career. She carries a full workload in the social landscape as she manages her TikTok, Instagram, Substack and Patreon, and she co-hosts an art history podcast called “Art of History.” She does all of the work on her own, including managing her brand and sponsorships.
Squad commentators like Amanda honestly believe they are doing something moral or important and calling out sexism and racism by cheerleading for the Sussexes. No, they are not. You are promoting misinformation and bullying and making a profit. That's not ethical. They are promoting ies and hate. It isn't so different at all than what they decry the Britsh tabloids for doing.
It's important to note there is a cottage industry of Sussex influencers, really, promoting their lies and putting down others in an abusive manner (the RF, but also anyone who dares call them out -- which is part of the territory when you take on a job like this, or, any job -- that's life, get over it). Amanda makes her living off slagging other people. And how is she different than the DailyMail? Because she's "independent"? Because she tells herself she is honest? Because she's read books on the RF and deems herself an expert (lol). She's not. In fact, the DailyMail has higher editorial and journalism standards; they have to. It doesn't seem like Amanda has even thought about how she wants to approach her work in an ethical manner or set standards for herself to be honest, fair, and do the right thing.
For her and others to claim they are calling out "lies" by the royal rota and British tabloids is untrue. In fact, all they are doing is spreading disinformation. There's no "cozy" relationship between the rota and the BRF. The sources from the Times, Telegraph, DailyMail, etc. are more accurate than whatever they say. These are the facts. But they choose not to believe it.
And she isn't the only one.
And now, they are eager to point fingers at anything else but them, so they don't have to consider the ethical repercussions of their actions (or of social media on the whole -- which we all need to do). No, it's KP; it's the UK press -- it's not them, their shoddy business models, or how they conduct their professional lives, of being social media influencers and having a decent platform and standards. (This isn't particular to Matta or other royal influencers -- it's for all influencers, in fact, or anyone who interacts with social media.) But given the past few weeks in royals commentary, it's important to note how these people and platforms have caused damage.

sorry idk if ur still taking fandom crit but
yeah while this mcyt community is much more “”accepting”” in the age of 2022 you have to remember at the end of the day a community run by and made FOR cis white straight ablebodied men is only going to be safe for that group. No matter how “accepting” it is. Better, yeah. Not good. Because it wasn’t made for anyone but that group. i hope i worded that well
yeah and this "acceptance" is mostly only for white queers bc for poc we get the same bs the we normally have on fandoms. hell just look at how ccs always do or say something abt pride month but never say anything abt black history month, and u cant even say its a American thing so the britsh ccs wouldn't know bc the uk also has it.
u get ppl on this same "accenting community" we get nonblacks calling blk ppl self centered bc they spoke negatively abt a ccs bc they did antiblack shit. we get ppl acting like they didnt do racist shit in the past out of their on free will and that it was just "bc ppl were like that during that time". we get ppl saying that theyve apologized/addressed it so we should forget abt it while ignoring that its so easy for them to say "haha im sorry" and move on while ignoring ppl suffering bc of their own privilege. we get talking like we should praise those white men bc they arent racist anymore . ppl saying that not growing up bigot is a "privilage" and that the ccs are victims bc they crew up like that as if the fact they could be bigots is bc of their own privilage as white ppl. or ignoring the fact that some ccs did bad shit on recent years or undermining/shifting the blame for the things in the past even tho they changed. or a white person speaking over a black person that was talking abt a ccs antiblackness basicaly saying that speaking abt it was ignoring that they changed.
like yeah sure dream isnt as antiblack as he used to be but in 2021 he still said to a blk person he didnt believe them when they spoke to him abt experience antiblackness from his community but oh yeah he changed and theres no reason for we(blk ppl) to dislike him at all/s. its always the white queers(or even just nonblk in general) fans that are the first to forget abt those "controversies" and act like theres no reason to believe they are racism and hate them for it when those reasons are in fact very real
its easy to go and say that "the community is very good and accepting" while still ignoring how it treats any minority that isnt a white queers, fandom racism is still very real here

Turn Week Day 4: History Nerdery
I'm a bit late to this year's Turn Week, but here are my thoughts on today's prompt:
Funnily for me, my interest in this particular historical context started with the series, and, coming from a related background, I quickly started to develop quite an interest in the events that were dramatised in the series.
My favourite pet peeve and Turn-related thing to nerd on about is doubtlessly the misrepresentation of John Graves Simcoe (feel free to ask me anything, I'm down to the level where I know the name of some of his pets, his schoolboy misdeeds, and his hobbies...) as a central villain; however, the more you read, the more I picked up on some of the other, non-Simcoe-related details, too:
The Hessians aren't very convincing, given they don't even speak German properly.
Sally being made into the name of an imaginary pet dog, rather than the sister of Robert Townsend (the one who historically may or may not have been in love with John Graves Simcoe), annoyed me to no end.
In general, the entire Townsend family dynamic was a lot more interesting than the narrative that Robert was effectively a reclusive loner with an overbearing father.
The 'romance' between Colonel Cooke and Philomena Cheer is half based on the alleged affair between General Howe and Elizabeth Loring, and half on General Clinton's, very happy, it has to be said, relationship with Mary Baddeley, whom he did indeed bring back to England, and who remained his partner until his death.
Speaking of Cooke, I'm pretty sure his character was modelled on the way Britsh officers (excluding Sir John Copeland, maybe) were represented in the 1925 Broadway musical Dearest Enemy.
John André's terrible braid is based on a case of mistaken identity; indeed, a similar braid appears in a portrait of a British officer labelled as John André, yet, as the British flag in the background suggests, this portrait was created post-1801. Furthermore, the regimentals do not match 'the' John André's service record.

Anthony Gross and the D-Day Landings.
With this article I found, it gives me a bit of information regarding his works during World War II and the D-Day Landings.
The D-Day landings are by far one of the most largest and most intricate amphibious military operations in history. The aim was simple: liberate France (and ultimately the whole of Europe) from the clutches of Hitler's regime.
Here's a short rundown on what occurred during the D-Day Landings:
The Allied Forces' first goal was misleading the Germans about the region of France they were going to actually invade by creating fake radio traffic, sending off inflatable rubber tanks floating across the English Channel to deceive German intelligence(????)
"Exercise Tiger"- A mock operation conducted by the allied forces
Allied forces launch tens of thousands of aircraft, all focused on destroying any means of transport within the central regions like railroad networks, main roads and water canals. A sum total of 195,000 tonnes of bombs were dropped by the Allied Forces.
Massive amounts of troops and ammunition from North America are sent over to Great Britain to prepair for the invasion.
US, Britsh and Canadian forces make landfall across several beaches along France's Normandy. Heavy fighting unfolds across the beaches
Allied forces manage to claim victory, head further inland and liberate several towns before capturing Paris on the way.

#CYBERGHOST VS EXPRESSVPN SOFTWARE#
Test #1: MelbourneĮxpressVPN’s Melbourne server result: 92.74 MbpsĬyberGhost’s Melbourne server result: 74.21 Mbps You can also see our VyprVPN vs ExpressVPN comparison to see how these two protocols compare.Īll the tests are carried out on our 100 Mbps Internet Service Provider connection speed. WireGuard was the choice for CyberGhost, and Lightway protocol was selected for ExpressVPN. We made sure to use the fastest protocol each provider offers for this test. To find out the best VPN among Expressvpn vs Cyberghost, we conducted an in-depth test of their speed concerning servers in Australia. While located in Romania, a safe jurisdiction and offering a foolproof no-log policy, considering the history of malware, I am hesitant to recommend CyberGhost or PIA for your online data security and privacy in Australia. Right now, Private Internet Access and Zenmate VPN are also owned by Kape.
#CYBERGHOST VS EXPRESSVPN SOFTWARE#
Kape has a known history of producing and spreading malware in devices via software bundles. In 2007, CyberGhost was acquired by Crossrider, which is now known as Kape. This makes ExpressVPN a perfect companion for your online exploration without having to worry about your data and identity being exposed to anyone in Australia.ĬyberGhost was started as a Romanian VPN server by a team of German and Romanian engineers. It is clearly mentioned in ExpressVPN’s log policy that they neither record activity logs nor connection logs. As The Britsh Virgins Island has a no data retention law and is not a member of any surveillance alliance, your data security and privacy are 100% guaranteed. Unlike Cyberghost and other VPN providers, ExpressVPN has passed independent audits for both security and logging policy.īased in the British Virgin Islands, this provider is perfect for your online security and anonymity in Australia. ExpressVPN in AustraliaĮxpressVPN has had an excellent reputation for quite some time now in Australia, thanks to a clean track record with no public security issues or data controversies. We will examine both providers to help you make the best decision for yourself. It is only fair to be fully aware of the provider’s background and jurisdiction. When you purchase a VPN provider for yourself in Australia, it means you are placing a great amount of faith and trust in it. ExpressVPN vs CyberGhost: Company background and Jurisdiction I examined both providers’ characteristics, compared them for their strengths and weaknesses, and decided a winner in each round.įollowing is the detailed comparison of both providers in Australia: 1. To determine the best VPN between Expressvpn vs Cyberghost in Australia, we performed a detailed comparison between ExpressVPN vs CyberGhost in Australia. Gandhi (1982)
The life of the lawyer who became the famed leader of the Indian revolts against the British rule through his philosophy of nonviolent protest.
I am a massive fan of Mahatma Gandhi and his teachings. I love his message of peace and non violence. I had heard so much about this film, but I kept putting it off because I thought (wrongly) that perhaps this film would feel too outdated. I watched this last week and it is a true masterpiece. It’s just  perfection and Ben Kingsley truly transformed into the Mahatma! It was like watching the real man. I cannot recommend it enough.
Why don’t they make such great movies anymore? The acting by everyone was so good. It has now become one of my all time favourite films. Very moving, very inspiring film. A true work of art. Check it out and be inspired!

“O Lord have mercy on me, to God I commend my soul. To Jesus Christ I commend my soul; Lord Jesus receive my soul.” (x)
On May 19th, 1536, Queen Anne Boleyn was beheaded after being charged with adultery, incest and high treason. She was refused a proper Christian burial and instead was buried as a traitor of the crown.
Anne Boleyn fell from Henry VIII’s favor when she failed to give birth to a male heir. In 1533, she bore a female child, who would grow up to be Queen Elizabeth I. After the coronation of her daughter, Elizabeth, Anne was venerated as a martyr and heroine of the English Reformation. (x)
