For those who haven't been stalking my blog for the past week I took a trip to Sydney with my Mum because she's a DJ and had some gigs there. Today we were going through the Sydney airport security to catch a flight home. I got held up there because I forgot I had packed scissors in my pencil case and they needed to take them. While a lady was unpacking my bag I stood there waiting, and I turned around I saw a guy who walked through the scanner behind me. I thought 'hey this guy looks a lot like Pete Wentz', then I looked at his tats and realised it was Mr Pete Fucking Wentz. I wisped to my Mum abt it but she didn't know who I was talking about. While I was waiting for my bags to go through the x-ray again, Joe walked through the person scanner. I got my bag and walked across the security lanes, heading towards the gate, I noticed Andy and Patrick in other scanner lanes. I didn't make it obvious I knew them or ask for a photo because that's kinda weird. I think they took the private jet I saw there because they are preforming in Brisbane today. If I hadn't been held up at security for my scissors, I wouldn't have seen them, 'aint that cool?

This idea was born from seeing the potential of the shipping containers as a type of office space in the 'Workshops'. I really liked the idea of having a destination "Social Media Hub" as it would be a really great way to offer people a specific experience/reason to visit Northshore during the daytime, particularly leaning into the target audience of young adults/teens. I quickly learnt that while the space would house this idea incredibly well and technically would have met essential criteria as per the client brief, there were aspects such as travel accessibility for this age group, potentially going over budget, and not meeting desireable criteria like having connection to the indigenous land, which ultimately helped decide against this idea.

Farmers Market:

Now, the Farmers Market would've been a great idea as we know, everyone loves food and it would be a great way to have an environmentally and economically sustainable event that encourages visitors to return to Northshore. However, based on the criteria of wanting something to occupy the site during weekdays, I don't believe the market will be quite as successful as majority of the public will be working and unable to make it during this time. Hence, we would be putting Northshore at risk of loosing money as well as the small local businesses who would make up the market.

Gym & Creche:

This idea was one of the most recent, and in all honesty, I thought would be the final choice, however that was obviously not the case. The idea of implementing a gym and & creche within the workshops and outdoor permanent workout equipment in a section of the Maritime Green area seemed like a very viable and great option based on an observance that the main group of people we could target were people available during weekdays, parents with young children (that were too young for kindergarten/school) and grandparents. It would be a great way for parents of toddlers or grandparents to stay fit and healthy and enjoy some time to themselves whilst having there child looked after but in the same vicinity. The Maritime Green space also offered an outdoor space to play with the children and the whole experience after getting in a workout, and spending time with your child could be done in one place and over the course of a few hours. It is something that could easily be available every weekday and would likely appeal to the target demographic. Not to mention, the permanent outdoor gym equipment helps to maintain the goal of being environmentally sustainable unlike many commercial gyms. The one thing that was the deal breaker though, was the location. Northshore is in a relatively convenient location being just "15 mins from Brisbane CBD and 12 mins from the international airport" (https://eatstreetnorthshore.com.au/), but when other gyms exist closer, even if they don't have a child care option, people are going to choose convenience first...especially if it means avoiding Brisbane traffic.

Finally Australia opened the border during the Covid19 crisis!    Finally Lili (12) and Leon (10)’s school summer break started!  Finally Dave and I disconnected our computers from the business networks the last time before our 5-week sabbaticals! We are going onto an adventurous trip in Australia with our two kids.

It is a long flight from where we live in Europe! We decided for a stopover in Singapore. I was really glad that we had the stopover - besides a good sleep, we also enjoyed the short visit of Singapore and the yummy food! It took us about 21 hours of flights (excluding airport queues), plus another 24 hours of stop-over in Singapore, until we finally landed at Brisbane airport in Australia. WE ARE EXCITED! the first photo is all the places we plan to visit in Australia. the second and third are taken in Singapore, and the last photo is our boy in “jet-lag” sleep while we waited for the shuttle bus at the Brisbane airport :).
