                                            *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
"Are you quite alright, (Y/N)?" Simon asked his sister as they journeyed in their carriage.
(Y/N) had started fanning herself a little faster."I don't know why I'm so nervous. I just hope to make a good impression."
"Of course you will. I'm sorry you haven't met them sooner."
"I could have at least met your wife at the wedding, if I had been invited."
"We have been through this, (Y/N)."
"Yes, and I'm not trying to argue with you, Simon. I know you married in haste, and I know why, but you must admit, you've left this far too long. You have a son now!"
"You have been cooped up in that house with your matron as father intended. I think she would have had my head if I tried to get you out of there."
They laughed together.
"Simon?"
"Hm?"
"I am very excited to meet your wife and my nephew."
As usual, the Bridgerton house was abuzz with excitement and chaos. Eloise didn't understand why she had to dress up so much for this visit, Gregory and Hyacinth were bombarding everyone with questions about Simon's sister, Colin and Benedict tried but failed to escape the madness, Anthony watched everything unfold and Daphne nervously bounced her baby boy on her knee.
"Daphne, do not fret. His sister will love you." Anthony tried to reassure his sister.
"What if she's like their father? What if she heard all the rumours about us and judges me for it? Simon has never spoken of her, I have no idea what to expect."
"I met Simon's sister many, many years ago. She was nothing like the things you are dreading. (Y/N) was a lovely, respectable young lady, I'm sure she hasn't changed."
Daphne let a small smile grace her face, trying to convince herself that everything was fine. Simon had kept his family such a secret, she just wanted to ensure that his sister would want to stay and be part of theirs.
Simon playfully rolled his eyes as (Y/N) asked how she looked, not in vain, but in anxiety. Her dress was beautiful, her hair perfectly in place, her jewels glistened but they weren't ghastly, nothing was wrong. Her nerves were getting the better of her. Just as she was about to ask again, the carriage stopped. Simon chuckled at her panicked look, already stepping outside.
He held out his hand for her."You'll be absolutely fine. Just be you."
(Y/N) took a deep breath before taking her brother's hand, being extra cautious to not fall on her face, especially since the entire Bridgerton family were stood on their front steps.
As head of the household, Anthony was ready to start introductions, until (Y/N) lifted her head, showing her dazzling features. He had only admitted to himself that he had a fancy for her when he was younger, though who wouldn't? She was beautiful, smart and didn't try hard to impress anyone; she was just joyful to be around. (Y/N) had never pined for Anthony or tried to grab his attention at every moment, or any man for that matter. He definitely considered her a friend, he was somewhat angry at himself he hadn't written to her over the years. But seeing her now, it was a mystery as to why she hadn't been married yet? That was quickly solved when he remembered Simon was her brother.
Simon stuck beside his sister until Daphne stepped forward. They shared a short but loving kiss, before Simon took their son into his arms, cooing and laughing as the baby gurgled. (Y/N)'s heart melted at the sight.
"Oh, how we've missed you." Violet beamed, greeting her son-in-law.
"I apologise for the delay, the weather was not suitable for travelling. Nevertheless, everyone, this is my sister, (Y/N) Basset."
(Y/N) curtsied as all eyes were on her."Thank you for welcoming me into your beautiful home. I have been so excited to meet you all."
"Well, why don't we go inside? We can have proper introductions in the warm." Daphne hid her nerves, presenting herself well.
Everyone agreed, leading (Y/N) inside. The family lined up like soldiers, with Anthony stepping forward to introduce everyone.
"I hope I don't have to reintroduce myself." he teased.
"Of course not, how could I forget you, Anthony? After all the trouble you and Simon got into?"
He chuckled, but cast a worried look towards his mother. He quickly continued.
"My mother, Violet, sisters Daphne, Eloise and Hyacinth, and my brothers, Benedict, Colin and Gregory."
"And your nephew." Simon added.
(Y/N) reached out a finger for the baby to hold."Yes, he's bigger than I thought he would be."
"Children do grow so fast." Violet said.
"But you're here now to see him grow." Daphne quickly added. "And we're all very happy that you're finally here."
Everyone knew that it was Simon who had kept (Y/N) away. He loved his sister with all his heart, which is why he never saw her; she was living a happy life, he didn't want to dampen that.
"The chefs have prepared a marvelous lunch. The table is all set if you are hungry now?" Voilet asked.
"Oh, yes, as long as everyone else is."
As soon as (Y/N) agreed, Colin, Eloise and the two youngest were off. They were starving, even though they had eaten only a few hours ago. (Y/N) giggled to the relief of the others. They slowly followed behind, but Simon was hesitant. (Y/N) gently nudged him forward.
"Go, see your family. I have all the time in the world to get to know Daphne."
Simon thanked her, still carrying his son as his other arm wrapped around his wife. Another arm appeared in front of (Y/N), ready for her to take it.
"May I escort you to the table?" Anthony said.
"Thank you, I much appreciate it."
They both knew they were being dramatic, though it was sweet of Anthony to make the gesture.
"How many years has it been?"
"Too many."
"I'm sorry your brother hasn't involved you. If the...situation between him and Daphne had been different, I know you would have been here straight away."
"I know. And I understand how stressful that all was. But as said before, I'm here now. I must say Anthony, I have missed you."
"Really? Even after all those times Simon and I riled you?"
"Yes. Although annoying, you both had your tender moments. I remember one evening, you and Simon were returning from your club, and you both had found yourselves in a quarrel with some other members. They followed you home, and I was waiting by the back gate to sneak you back inside. They were closer than expected, and do you remember some of the horrible things they said to me?"
"Unfortunately I do. And I unfortunately remember what happened next."
"It was very chivalrous for you to defend me, though you needn't have fought. Your nose wouldn't stop bleeding!"
"But you were right by my side, holding a handkerchief for me."
"Yes, because if you got blood on the carpets, you would have something worse than a bruised nose."
The pair were laughing to themselves as they walked into the dining room. Most were already seated. Anthony guided (Y/N) to her chair, next to Simon, who stood to tuck it in, but Anthony beat him to it. Simon watched his friend's moves very closely, knowing deep down that Anthony was just being polite; however, he wasn't too fond that they were sat opposite each other, able to gaze into each others eyes.
Simon tapped his glass with a knife once everyone was sat, standing with said glass in his hand."Before we begin eating, I would like to propose a toast."
Everyone immediately grabbed their own glasses, except Eloise, taking her time as she huffed; couldn't they at least toast after the meal?
"To my sister, (Y/N). I am so happy that you're here with me, with us. I'm sorry I haven't been a better brother but that will change now. And I can't wait for you to get to know this loving family, who made me one of their own, as I know they will you."
"To family." Benedict finished.
"To family." Everyone cheered.
"Now the food. Please." Eloise needed a plate in front of her.
All through lunch, Simon kept a close eye on his sister and Anthony. He was awful at keeping up with conversations, slow at eating, he just had a weird feeling when he glanced at them both. Simon constantly apologised to Daphne, blaming the long journey for his daydreaming.
However, Anthony and (Y/N) might as well have been dining at their own table. They were in full conversation, of course others chimed in to join, but they couldn't stop reflecting on the past and laughing. It was impossible to not notice how well they were getting along, and Violet had a glint in her eye as she saw how much Anthony was smiling. He never smiled this much, and the way he was looking at (Y/N) reminded her of how her husband used to look at her.
After dinner, they retired to the drawing room, sipping on fresh lemonade as Hyacinth showed off her new skill on the piano. Simon sat with his child in his lap, Daphne by his side, and although he was thoroughly enjoying the time with his family, he couldn't stop gazing over at his sister.
Unsurprisingly, (Y/N) and Anthony were cosied up, still smiling ear to ear as they continued talking. How could they have so much to talk about?
"Let's put him to bed Simon, for a nap. He's getting fussy." Daphne interrupted his thoughts.
Simon didn't want to cause a scene, agreeing to put their son down together. Even as they left the room, Simon's eyes lingered, and he immediately became tense once they were out of sight.
"Has my brother dazzled you?"
Simon was quiet as he laid down his son."Hm?"
"Well you haven't stopped staring at him all night."
He sighed."Was I that obvious?"
"You were indeed. Would it be so bad?"
"What?"
"Would it be so bad if my brother loved your sister?"
"Daphne-"
"Has he been disrespectful? Has he done her wrong? Has he done anything that we did?"
He was stumped. Although his brotherly instincts were kicking in, wanting to protect (Y/N), realistically he knew Anthony would never hurt her. Anthony was trustworthy, he knew him inside out and just from tonight, there was something there.
Simon didn't reply, but Daphne knew he wasn't ignoring her. She could see him thinking it all over as he walked to the window.
"It's only good news depending on how you look at it."
"I know, but it will be fine-"
"No, look!"
Daphne quickly joined her husband at the window, trying to see what he was looking at. Down in the gardens was Anthony and (Y/N) taking a stroll. The pair were lit by the setting sun which was casting a beautiful orange and pink glow across the garden. Although they had not stopped talking through the afternoon, now they were silent, both silently worrying that the other had no more to say.
"(Y/N)-"
"Anthony-"
The spoke at the same time, pausing for a moment before laughing. Anthony said nothing, being a gentleman and letting (Y/N) speak.
"I was just going to say how much I have enjoyed our time together. It feels as if no time has passed since the last time I saw you."
"How long will you stay?"
"Sorry?"
"Well, are you staying for a short visit? Or perhaps an extended time?"
"Simon and I have not discussed that as of yet. I am to be staying with a friend of mine who lives in the Ton, so I shall be here for a little while."
Anthony couldn't help but smile."Good, that is good news."
They were quiet again as they continued walking, only taking small steps as they wee nearing the end of the garden. They were standing close to one another, and although they had linked arms before and been sat on the plush sofas, this held more tension. Perhaps it was the way neither of them wanted to startle the other, despite their desperate want for affection. As their minds drifted off to where this was leading, their hands ever so delicately brushed. Both were startled, halting their steps and looking at each other.
"My apologies-"
"Anthony, it's fine. I...I just wouldn't have expected this."
Anthony thought for a moment, glancing down at their hands that were no longer close. He didn't like it. He wanted to be bold and take the next step, even if it was just holding one another's hand. But this was Simon Basset's sister. And it was (Y/N), who he had the upmost respect for.
"Miss Basset?"
"Anthony, why are you calling me that?"
"May I enquire into the address of your new lodgings?"
"Yes? Why?"
"So that I may call on you in the morning?"

But I knew you Playing hide-and-seek and Giving me your weekends, I I knew you
(Warnings: cheating, folklore by taylor swift… angst), unedited
Kate was your dear friend but it was Anthony Bridgerton who had your heart. It wasn’t something that you meant…Anthony was just always there. He understood you in ways no one ever has. Maybe it was because of the friendship that you both fostered long ago. Two kids in his mother’s garden, playing hide and seek with his siblings. Your friendship was rooted on solid ground and nothing could have ever ruined it.
When Edmund Bridgerton died, it was you who helped Anthony through it all. He said it himself one afternoon while you walked through the lush green grasses of the park. You smiled and brushed it aside. He was your friend, it was the least you could do. Anthony was grateful for you. Grateful that you stayed in his life despite his shortcomings and his mistakes. You’ve always been there for him and he couldn’t just let you go so easily. It hurt him when you left. It broke him when you told him that you’d never want to receive another letter from him…he didn’t follow.
But everything hurt.
It started one night. You were in a secluded area in someone’s estate, attending the party under the guise of looking for marriage.
“My mother has been pestering me to find a wife,” he chuckled. “I don’t think I could marry yet. There’s so much to do…so much to achieve and I…” words fell from his lips as he watched you tilt your head sideways.
“What is it?”
I wanted it to be you. I want you. I want everything but I’m tied down to my responsibilities and I can’t just want you so wantonly without thinking about anything else.
“I am to attend a picnic with the Sharmas,” he sighed. “The younger sister…Edwina. What do you think of her?”
“Why does it matter? She’s smart, capable, and beautiful,” you replied monotonously. Edwina was all of these things but Anthony wanted something else.
“I think it is Kate who has my heart,” you heard him mutter. You looked up at him, hopelessness stirring in your heart. “But I’m not sure yet,”
“Shouldn’t love be as simple as knowing?”
Kate Sharma was the perfect match for Anthony and you couldn’t even deny it. It was there. They were written in the stars; foretold by the cosmos. You simply had no space in his heart. The shape of Anthony that you so carefully took care of would forever be his but you would never be. It was the same thing when he fell in love with the opera singer. He longed for her whilst he occupied your mind.
“But I want you…”
“Anthony?”
“I want you,” he said. “But if it is one of the sisters who I shall marry for the preservation of the honor of my family, then, I shall,”
Words died down in your throat. Were you not honorable enough for him? You shook your head as he neared.
“I’ve been wanting to kiss you since the day I realized that I want you,” he whispered. “Will you allow me?”
One kiss turned into more kisses. Fleeting touches that occurred sometimes. He’d look at you sometimes while you laughed at someone else’s jokes. You’d look away when he’d dance with Kate. Soon, you were travelling the roads less travelled by; wearing Anthony’s garments as to not arouse suspicion. Soon, you were meeting an inconspicuous alleyway that led to a hidden cottage just outside of the city. Only the two of you before he marries Kate tomorrow.
“You’re getting married tomorrow,” you told him.
“But it is you who I want,”
“How many more proposals must I reject for you, Anthony?” you asked but he’d kiss you so you’d never have to think of it ever again.
Tomorrow, when you help Kate prepare for the wedding, you'll have a lump in your throat that you’ll try to swallow. When he puts the ring on her finger, you’d tear up because of how happy you were for the two of them. They’d never know the cross you’d carry in your heart; how terrible you’d feel because Anthony would never be with you. You’d never be his wife. He’d never wake up beside you ever again. You knew that he loved her and you only warmed his bed to keep him from the cold. He’d never know the guilt you’d carry for loving him while he loved someone else. He’d never know anything because at the end of the day, it was Kate whom he loves.
It’s been three days since he married Kate.
He seeked you out in all of those days. He’d come up with a smooth lie about his estate but he’d ultimately end up with you somewhere. He’d hike your skirt an inch higher than what was appropriate and when the sun sets, he’d walk away and let you go. Not today, though. You were set on telling him something important.
“A duke proposed to me,” you muttered while he fixed his belt. He looks at you.
“And what did you say?”
“That I’ll think about it,”
“Say no,” he says, sitting down on the bed, helping you with your corset. “Say no,”
“Why?” you asked. “I’m not getting any younger, Anthony,” you sighed. “My mother wants me to accept his proposal. It’s not everyday I get proposed to by a duke,”
“A viscount isn’t enough for you?” he asks, nibbling softly on your ear.
“No, it’s not like that. You know it isn’t,” you scolded, inching away from him but he holds you closer. “It’s just that…my prospects aren’t as great. Every year, my value dwindles down. This man…he’s kind and considerate. He’s not half as bad and respects me.” Every word seemed to stab Anthony’s heart, twisting it further and further until he was bleeding. “Besides, if I don’t marry, where else will I go?”
“You’ll have me,” he says. “You don’t need a duke to take care of you. I will,”
“And what of my family? What about Kate?” you asked. “Anthony, you’re only mine when we’re together. These clandestine meetings ought to stop soon,”
“Will you make him wait a little bit more? Until I sort things out,” he asks and you nod, your voice betraying you once more. You knew that you had to give an answer soon…but for now, you’ll allow yourself to take Anthony’s word for it. “I promise you’ll never have to look for somebody else to take care of you,”
Between the two of you, you both knew that things would be changing. Anthony has never faced a proposal from a duke before when it came to you. You were right. How many proposals do you have to reject just so you could wait around for him? He knew it was unfair for you but Anthony was a selfish man. He couldn’t imagine himself sharing you with somebody else. He couldn’t imagine losing you and if it took the heavens to come crashing down to do so, he would be more than happy to comply.
He watched as your carriage took you back home. For all everyone knew, you met up with Anthony by the park for an afternoon stroll. It was a daily occurence that shocked no one. Still, when he married Kate, the Ton wondered if these meetings would stop. The town moved on from one gossip to another but one thing was sure…they’d never get over how a married Viscount and a spinster from a respectable family met up every afternoon without lapse.
You sat in the drawing room of your house. You heard the whispers on the street. How shameless! You knew what they said about you but still, there was something inside your heart that bloomed whenever you saw Anthony. You’d never admit it to him and it seems that he’d never say it too but without the verbiage of confessions, you just both knew.
You hated how he made you feel sometimes. It hurt to know that no matter what you did, you’d never take things back. It hurt to know that you were hurting Kate too. She’d never hurt you the way you hurt her. Multiple times…over and over again. Anthony would never know the guilt that consumed you whenever you laid with him…the torment of knowing what’s right but doing what’s wrong because for him, what he was doing was right. He was a selfish man.
The next time you met Anthony with even more confusing feelings was a dinner hosted by your family. He was with Kate, happiness painting his face so effortlessly. Kate made him happy while you looked like you were dying multiple times. You flashed a smile when Kate found you. It was so natural, nobody would ever suspect a thing.
“Kate, you look so beautiful,” you told her. “Marriage life suits you,”
“Anthony treats me well,” Kate laughs. “I heard a duke has proposed to you…?”
“Yes,” you nodded. “I…said yes,”
“What? That’s amazing!” Kate exclaims but you shush her.
“It’s still something that we decided to keep between us,” you confessed. “A moment of peace before the Ton realizes,” You couldn’t look at Anthony who appeared beside Kate.
“Anthony, you can’t tell anyone but our dear friend is spoken for,” Kate whispers and Anthony could feel his world crumble. He showed it with a fake smile and a clench of his jaw.
“What?” he asked, incredulously. “You’re engaged?”
“Yes,” you whispered, looking everywhere but him. “I am,”
“Excuse me for a moment,” Kate says, sensing the tension between the two of you. She knew that you were the closest among the Ton and you were the one to thank for how Anthony turned out. He only ever listened to you and she often wondered if his heart belonged to someone else. Maybe you…but you were engaged now. Surely, she’d never have to worry about that. About you.
“Let’s go,” Anthony says, taking your arm and then dragging you to your room. How scandalous. It hurt to think that for him, he could drag you everywhere else without so much as a word from you. He locks the door behind him and looks at you like you’ve murdered him.
“Is it true?” he demands. “That you’re spoken for?”
“Anthony—“
“Please…just tell me,” he begs. “Is it true?”
“It is,” you nod and he inhales a breath. “I was planning to tell you tonight. He’s kind, Anthony. You’d never have to worry about how he treats me,”
“Break it off,” he says.
“Excuse me?”
“Break off your engagement. It’s my job to take care of you. While it’s early,”
You felt anger bubbling inside you. How could he ask that of you when he could never do the same?
“We can’t keep on seeing each other like this, Anthony,” you tell him calmly. “Kate loves you and I…”
“What about you? Do you love him?”
“I’m engaged to him,”
“Do you love him?”
“I’ll learn to!” you cried. “He’s a great man, Anthony and after we wed in England, he’ll take me away from here and bring me to Scotland,”
“What?” he asked. “He’ll take you away from me? What about me? What about us? You’ll forget about us that easily? Like we were nothing? You know that I need you here. Why are you leaving me? Do you not love me?”
“You can’t do that to me, Anthony,” you tell him. “I could have stayed with you for a lifetime if you weren’t married…but this—everything—doesn’t feel right anymore. I’m hurting Kate. We’re hurting her without her knowing and you’re hurting me.” you cried. “This is all too confusing for me and I’m afraid we have to let it end here,”
“We can’t. We’ve known each other in all of our years. You just can’t leave me here alone.”
“But you are married to Kate! It doesn’t feel right. Do you know what the Ton thinks? I used to think that we could just both run away,” you told him. “I thought about it but it couldn’t happen. You have your responsibilities and I have mine…”
“I need you here,” he begged, sitting down on your bed as you walked towards him. “Just stay here with me. You can marry him…just stay here with me, please,”
“Anthony…”
“Please,” he begs, wrapping his arms around your waist and laying his head on your chest. “You can’t leave me. You’re the only person in this whole world that gets me. You know me more than anyone else. You’re my person,”
“But I don’t know you anymore, Anthony. Ever since you married Kate, everything between us became purely physical. You don’t talk to me anymore. You don’t kiss me the same way you used to. You stopped letting me in,” you said, stroking his hair softly.
“Please. I’ll be better. Kate may be who I am married to on paper but it has always been you,”
“So, why didn’t you choose me?”
Anthony stilled. You’d never know how much he wanted you. You’d never know how much he yearned for you. You’d never know how he had to stop himself from loving you completely because he believes that he’d never deserve your love. He didn’t want to marry in love and you wanted it more than anything. He was tied down to produce an heir. He never wanted to love but you took it from him. He’ll always be the first born. His responsibilities must come first before his whims.
“And then what? We’ll hurt two people?” you asked, hands on his shoulders to push him away. “Anthony, I’m so tired of hurting the people that I love,”
“Am I not who you love the most?” he asks in a small whisper. “You’re who I love the most,”
“So why did you marry Kate?” you asked, breaking away from him. “You’re telling me you love me now when you’re married to someone else. When I’m about to marry somebody else,” you cried, tears flowing from both your eyes. “I’ve done nothing but love you in all our years. I was so, so, so convinced that you were going to marry me. I rejected proposals and prospects because I was holding onto that thread so badly but you never once asked me for a dance,”
“I’m sorry,” he whispers. “I’m so, so, sorry,”
“If I asked you to run away with me now…would you?”
“Kate is pregnant,”
You could only chuckle as you moved from him.
“Kate is pregnant,” you nodded. “Kate is pregnant and yet, here you are begging for me to stay. You’re about to have a family, Anthony. Why can’t you see that we’re hurting the one we love?”
“Because I love you the most,”
“Kate is pregnant,” you reminded him. “Anthony, we should stop all the emotions that linger. I’m leaving England and you have to leave me too. We’d never be the same. We could never have our nights again. I am thankful for them, trust me…but this—this needs to stop.” you shook your head in disbelief and excused yourself.
Anthony watched as you left your bedchamber. He’d have to save face and attend your wedding soon but for now, he’ll allow himself to nurse his broken heart in the place where you broke it into a million pieces.
Marked me like a bloodstain, I I knew you Tried to change the ending Peter losing Wendy, I I knew you Leavin' like a father Running like water, I And when you are young, they assume you know nothing

OMG VISCOUNT HARRY???? UHM YES GIMMIE NOW
The Arrangement
(Harry Styles x Bridgerton)
Tumblr media
(Viscount! Harry Styles x Noble! Fem! Reader)
As an only child, Y/N is arranged to marry the Viscount Harry Styles. She is displeased with her father, as her mother had told her she could wait one more season before looking for a husband. But a marriage into one of the richest families in England is not what it would seem…
"Papa, please! Mama promised! I'm just not ready! Please, I don't want this!"
I pace around the drawing room, biting my lips as tears threaten to spill. My father however, remains stern in his decision.
"The Viscount is a fine man, and will prove to be a wonderful husband to you. It is done, my darling. You will marry the Viscount Styles, and I shall not entertain any further debate on the matter."
With my papa's word as final say, I could do nothing more as I retired to my bedroom to prepare for Lady Danbury's ball in honor of the new season.
Night falls as we leave the estate, my papa's fowl mood only growing as we venture to Danbury House.
"Oh come now, Stephen. This will be a fine experience for her. She is to be a Viscountess and as such, she will be attending these events more often."
My papa folds his arms childishly as he gives her a stern look.
"She is to bed wed, Eleanor. And yet you require her attendance at this silly gathering?"
I gasp in utter shock at my papa's words. Mama only scoffs and swats at him with her fan.
"Stephen Walker, do you think me a fool? I am allowing our daughter attend the soirée in support of Miss. Bridgerton, with the knowledge that the Viscount Styles will be in attendance. I thought it best our daughter to promenade with her betrothed, don't you dearest?"
If there's one thing about my mama, she knows well how to silence my papa. My papa mumbles under his breath and sits up properly as we had stopped moving. The footman opens the door and my papa helps mama and I exit our carriage.
Mama and I each take one of papa's arms and he escorts us inside. We are greeted immediately by Lady Danbury.
"Why if it isn't the Duke Walker and his lovely family! And my heavens, Lady Y/N! You are an absolute vision!"
I feel a small blush appear on my cheeks as I bow politely to her. We converse with Lady Danbury for a moment before she dismisses herself to greet more guests. From across the ballroom, my eyes land on the the one person I had eager to see.
"Papa, might I accompany Miss. Bridgerton in her search of suitors?"
My papa begins to refuse when my mama lays a hand on his chest, and she gives me a smile.
"Yes dearest, of course you may. Stephen, please escort our daughter. Be sure she remains with one of the lords Bridgerton. I shall find myself a drink."
Before papa can offer any debate, mama is already leaving his side and making her way through the crowd. Papa lets out a sigh and grumbles once more before he begins to walk me over to the Bridgertons.
"Lord Bridgerton, a pleasure to see you as always."
Lord Bridget gives my father a small nod in exchange. Daphne lets her brother go and leaps to me, causing her mama to scold her.
"Daphne, please!"
Daphne does not mind her mama as she hugs me close and I giggle.
"Lord Bridgerton, might I ask-."
Before my papa can finish, a man approaches us. Him. The Viscount Harry Styles. My papa smiles at the sight of him and turns his attention to the Viscount.
"Ah! Lord Styles! I was not expecting to see you this evening."
The man nods with a curt smile.
"Lord Walker, I was wishing to speak with you. Might I escort Lady Y/N this evening? I would very much like to speak with her."
My papa only smiles and practically pushes me to the Viscount's side, much to Daphne's disappointment. I merely push away from the from him, instead grabbing the arm of Mr. Benedict Bridgerton.
"Humblest apologies, my lord. I have been promised to Mr. Bridgerton for the evening. Isn't that right, Mr. Bridgerton?"
I give Benedict a pleasing look and he sends me one of his cat-like smiles. He lets go of me and hands me to the Viscount.
"I shall of course comply to his Lord's wishes, Lady Walker. I bid you a goodnight, my lady."
He bows and scurries off, laughing as he fetches himself a drink. I hesitantly turn my attention to the Viscount, who gives me a small, soft smile.
"Shall we dance, Lady Walker."
I force a small smile as I nod, taking his hand he has offered to me. After a few dances, Lord Styles suggests promenading in the garden. We walk along the many rose bushes coating the courtyard, though I simply refuse to look in the Viscount's direction.
"My Lady... I do hope you will come to agree with me. If we are to spend the rest of our lives together, should it not be a happy life?"
I simply remain silent as if I did not hear him.
"My Lady, is something the matter? We are betrothed after all, you needn't act so formal."
As much as I try to remain a perfect lady, I simply cannot hold my composure. I turn to him, exposing my inner thoughts before I am able to stop myself.
"Is this but a game to you, my Lord? This arrangement? Let me assure you, my Lord, this is no game to me. Above everything, I am a woman. I have dignity, I have desires and I have intelligence. I refuse to be reduced to nothing more than another wife. That is all that is expected of ladies in society. But that is not what I want."
He is silent for a moment before he holds out his arm to me, though he refuses my gaze.
"I hope you will come to understand why I asked for your hand, my lady. Fore I am not just a Viscount, but a man. Now, allow me to escort you to your father. I wish to retire for the night, and it disgraceful to leave a Lady alone."
He does not look my way through the entire walk inside the ballroom before leaving me in the arms of my papa. He gives a small, simple bow before he excuses himself, leaving quietly. My papa insists we retire for the evening as well, as my mama has found herself rather lush.
Rather early the next morning, I lounge in the drawing room, reading leisurely, just as I do every morning. My papa storms in, a rather stern expression on has face as he paces to me rather quickly, a letter grasped tightly in his hand.
"Have I failed you as a father?"
"Papa?"
"Truly, have I failed you? The daughter I have raised would never speak such a way! I shall like to hear your explanation!"
Before I am able to respond, my mama waltzes in, a look of worry on her freckled face.
"Dearest! What ever could be the matter?"
My papa seethes as he turns to my mama, his look of anger evident.
"Your daughter provoked a tiff with the Viscount last night!"
"Oh Y/N..."
"Papa, I am sorry! I was merely being honest with the Viscount! Is that not what you have raised me to do, papa? I am a lady, just as you have raised me to be. I am quite capable of doing things for my self, and I am in no need of a man. I am not an object papa, and I will not allow myself to be seen as such."
My papa sighs and sits in the open seat of the Davenport I occupy.
"I know quite well how I raised you. I raised you to be strong and polite. I expect better from you. The Viscount and I would very much like this arrangement to work. Therefore: you will be staying at Styles Estate until your wedding, when you will take permanent residence with the Viscount."

Not so terrible I💐✨
part 1 part 2
Anthony Bridgerton x fem!Reader
Warnings: none!
Summary: reader is Daphne's childhood best friend who has returned from studying abroad. Daphne insists that the reader accompanies her to her debut, perhaps Daphne won't be the only one catching the attention of a lord.
"It'll be fun" Daphne insists as you follow her to her bedroom "besides what better way to announce to everyone that you're back!"
"Daphne, I haven't seen these people in four years," you sigh "it's all a bit sudden to just burst into a ballroom is it not?" You make your way to Daphne's bed and she follows.
Daphne giggles, "I thought you were fond of the dramatics?"
You roll your eyes but ultimately she is right. You had taken four years abroad to study the arts- drama, literature, music, etc. but that didn't mean you had the confidence of a Shakespearean actress. As you glance at Daphne you realize how foolish you are being. You shouldn't be the one who is nervous, your childhood best friend is about to make her debut in this year's social season and all you can think about is yourself. Suddenly Daphne places her hand on yours. "Please y/n, for me?" And you realize that Daphne is just as nervous as you are. You smile and take a deep breath. "Alright-" before you can finish Daphne has started squealing and tackles you backwards onto the bed with a hug.
"Thank you, thank you, thank you!"
You laugh, "but only because you're my best friend."
Daphne smiles as you both sit up, her eyes lighting up with the possibilities this night holds.
"I'll have to help you pick out a dress! Ooh and we can get our hair done together and you can borrow some of my rouge, I just got a new shade and-"
"Woah slow down, I don't want to outshine the future diamond of the season," you tease.
Daphne's cheeks flush, "well we don't know that for certain..."
"Oh please, don't try to be so humble," you say getting up "you will be marvelous." You take a few steps back and start walking toward Daphne, once you've reached her you give an uneven curtsey and a bow. "As long as you do better than that you shall be fine. Plenty of lords will come running to you."
Daphne laughs and you do too. It feels good to be back at home with everybody, well almost everybody. There's still one person you were hoping to see.
"Speaking of lords," Daphne says mischievously "are you sure there's no one you want to be dressing up for tonight?"
"Tonight isn't about me," you say trying to steer the conversation away from where Daphne is leading it.
"Mhmm? But if there was..." Daphne stretches out her vowels playfully.
"There isn't..." You reply, mocking Daphne's tone.
"Oh I was just teasing. Besides, I don't know what time Anthony will be back."
Your breath hitches. Obviously, as your best friend, Daphne has been entrusted to know your crushes. Although she might have found out this one for herself much to your displeasure. But it's not a big deal anymore, maybe it would've been four years ago but not now. Now it means nothing.
"Just a silly childhood crush," you say dismissingly "I've met much more, um, cultured gentlemen during my time abroad."
"Oh of course," Daphne replies jokingly.
"No I'm serious! Artists are far more charming than lords. And besides, how can I still like someone I haven't seen in four years?" You say, trying to convince yourself rather than Daphne.
"Alright, alright I believe you y/n! Now come on, let's get ready. Don't go creating worry lines before the celebration." Daphne gets up and heads towards her wardrobe, you follow.
"Oh yes, worry lines, of course. The biggest of my concerns."
"Hush now," Daphne says, "if you follow my advice, maybe I won't be the only one finding a match tonight."
You can't help but smile at the idea. It wouldn't be the most terrible thing in the world, would it? Spending the evening with your closest friend and perhaps finding someone to help you move on from Anthony. No, it wouldn't be so terrible.
"Alright Daphne, let's get ready."

[SUMMARY: Anthony Bridgerton can’t help his attraction to Daphnes bestfriend, Julianne Robinson. Fighting the temptation to seduce her he gives in to his weakness and takes her virginity in a carriage.]
Smut
“What would you know about the urges of a man and how tempting you were to him?”
It was always a treat visiting your bestfriend Daphne. Always welcomed with love, you enjoyed time in their home with her lovely mother and treats. One of your favorite parts of your visit was seeing her oldest brother Anthony. No one knew but you had grown a crush on him as you grew older. Never had you spoken of it, but little did you know Anthony himself felt an attraction towards you. After Daphne married Simon you had not seen much of Anthony but tonight that would be different. Choosing to wear one of the nicest gowns you owned you smiled looking at yourself in the mirror. A soft pink with gold complimented your skin wonderfully.
“Oh Julianne, how lovely it is to finally see you.” Daphne greeted you with a smile with her husband beside her.
“Like wise, I have been looking forward to today for some time now.” You returned a smile as she walked with you into the parlor.
There were her siblings Benedict, Colin and Hyacinth.
“Where is Anthony?” Their mother Violet sighed right before he stepped into the room. Handsome as ever you did your best to hold back a smile.
“Right here, mother, someone has to get the paper work done-“ Anthony teased with a smile when his eyes unexpectedly landed on you. Anthonys world stopped in that very moment. It had been almost a year since he had seen you and you were just as beautiful as ever. You remembered how he used to always look at you but quickly look away when you would catch him. No one ever noticed the attraction the two of you tried to hide from each other.
“Julianne-“ the two of you always on a first name bases having been so close to his sister.
“How wonderful it is for you to grace us with your presence.”
“Indeed! I have many things I must speak to you of!” Daphne interjected before you could respond. Anthony smiled at you before Violet led you all into the dining room.
All of you sat down and enjoyed your meal speaking of different things. Daphne could not stop speaking of her son making you smile.
“He must bring you much excitement,” you looked at Anthony watching as he happily looked over his nephew.
“Always.” He turned to you and didn’t take his eyes off you as you went on to continue with Daphnes stories.
After much conversation, after the meal you decided to go out for some air in the garden. Usually Daphne would take this break with you but having her son and husband you excused yourself alone. Anthony watched as you walked to the door and let yourself out, Benedict noticing how distracted he was.
“Excuse me-“ Anthony quickly stood up and let himself out immediately spotting you stepping into the garden.
“Finding a way to leave?” Anthony’s voice made you turn in surprise as he appeared under a soft light in the dark garden.
“Anthony..” you whispered with a smile as he approached you. He was a tall man and practically towered over you by nearly a foot.
“Julianne..” he responded with a smile that made his dimple appear.
“You look…-“ his eyes happened to glance over the hint of cleavage you showed, your skin turning hot as you noticed.
“You look wonderful,”
“Thank you” he didn’t take his eyes off you as you looked up at him. Butterflies in your stomach you noticed him looking at your lips. He seemed distracted…and that he was. He wondered how soft your pink plump lips must’ve felt…how they would feel against his own lips.
“Anthony..?” He quickly looked up at you and cleared his throat.
“Forgive me…I-“
“It’s okay” you spoke softly with a voice that only seemed to captivate him more. You wondered what was on his mind, whatever it was…you couldn’t stop thinking how handsome he looked thinking of it. The two of you not realizing how distracted you were with the attraction you had for one another, you realized it was getting late.
“I should get going now”
“I’ll shall accompany you and make sure you arrive safely.”
“Oh there is no need, my chaperone-“
“Left.” He interrupted rather confidently. He himself being the one to tell the chaperone they could leave, as he would be responsible for your safe arrival.
“Left?”
“Yes, I’ll have a carriage ready in no time. You’ll be home before you know it.”
It was strange that your chaperone had left and not even say a word. After thanking Violet for the invitation tonight, you spoke with Daphne for some time before being led out to the carriage. Anthony took your hand and helped you get inside before he followed right behind you. Across from you, he sat in the carriage as you looked out into the night.
“My chaperone didn’t say anything to you?” You asked without looking back at him.
“I told her she could leave-“
“You were the one who told her to leave?” You turned to him a bit surprised.
“Don’t trust me to get you home safe now?” He spoke with a smirk as you rolled your eyes playfully and looked back out.
The carriage began to move as you sat back comfortably and took a deep breath before noticing Anthony was staring at you again. He could tell he caught you off guard as you nervously looked away.
“If I’m being honest..” Anthony began to speak breaking the silence for the ride
“I’m rather surprised you need a chaperone at all and don’t have a husband beside you.” His words practically made your eyes bulge out as you looked back at him.
“I beg your pardon-“
“Do not take offense, Julianne. I just don’t understand how a woman with your looks has yet to be courted.”
He was complimenting you.
“Oh..I-“
“You are beautiful Julianne Robinson.” Your heart skipped a beat, his words, his voice…the way he said your name. His eyes once again roaming down to your cleavage, he could tell he was making you nervous as he watched your chest rise with each breath.
“Anthony..” For so long he had felt this attraction towards you and he knew you felt it too.
“Anthony..”
“Do not say my name-“ he whispered. He couldn’t take the urge he felt whenever your voice uttered his name.
“Excuse me?” You asked confused as he pressed his lips together. He simply wanted to have more time with you, as he didn’t know when he would see you again. He had no idea this would only give him a fight.
“Anthony” you whispered once more.
“Sit next to me,” you spoke softly, your suggestion making him take a deep breath before he stood up and sat beside you. Looking over you could see his jaw clenching as he looked over to you.
“Perhaps I shouldn’t-“
“I want you to.”
Anthony chuckled in response raising his brows as he struggled to compose himself. The man felt he was ready to burst through his pants at any given moment. You had no idea what you were doing to him, and he didn’t expect you to. What would you know about the urges of a man and how tempting you were being to him? You were innocently looking up at him as you noticed him become more fidgety. How was he suppose to ignore this feeling?
“Julianne Robinson..” he rubbed his hand over his lips, clearly looking flustered.
“Anthony Bridgerton.” You responded confidently. He froze at the sound of your voice saying his full name, he looked down at you and that’s all it took.
Anthony lost control of himself.
Unexpectedly Anthony grabbed you making you squeal as he kissed you. You were in shock feeling his lips against yours, his tongue prying your lips apart.
Oh but you didn’t want him to stop.
Never before had you felt this way.
The feeling at the pit of your stomach, in between your legs. Being a virgin you did not have much knowledge of many things but at this moment you knew you wanted him. For so long you had wanted this man.
In that moment you didn’t care of anything else and neither did he. You lay back as he moved on top of you kissing you roughly yet passionately. Moaning against his lips you felt his hand move up beneath your dress, your heart racing like it never had before.
This wasn’t right and you knew it wasn’t, yet it felt too damn good for you to stop. He pulled off whatever you had beneath your dress, you could hear him unbuttoning his breeches. Shivering your dress higher revealing your thighs and stockings you blushed. He moved quickly, he was eager to feel you and that’s when he did. You gasped and froze at the sudden feel of him entering you. He didn’t move, it took everything in him to not move. His face dug into the crook of your neck, your lips against his ear, he could hear you breathing quickly. In shock with what you were feeling, in shock with what you both were doing, he thrusted again making you whimper. Squeezing his eyes shut he once again held himself still allowing you to adjust to his size. He could feel you becoming more aroused, he could feel you throbbing around him. Slowly lifting his head up, he looked down at you this time looking into your eyes he thrusted again. He could see the shock yet pleasure on your face, the innocence yet need for more.
He moved in a slow rhythm as the carriage moved. His lips finding yours again as soft moans escaped yours, pleasure slowly started to build. It felt right even though it was wrong, you loved being so intimately close to him. Grabbing onto his collar you light trembled beneath him. You couldn’t believe after all these years of shared glances, flirtatious looks and even words…this is what it came to.
Anthony Bridgerton took your virginity in a carriage ride home.
“Julianne-forgive me” he choked out when you noticed his jaw clench up tightly, he buried himself inside you and didn’t move as a hoarse groan escaped his lips.
“Oh-“ you gasped as you looked up at him, he almost looked as if he was in pain.
“Anthony?” You whispered but he couldn’t speak. He couldn’t say a word as you felt his body go limp on yours. Slowly he pushed himself up and sat back across from you as he adjusted his breeches breathlessly.
“Anthony…are you ok?” You asked as you pushed yourself up and fixed your dress.
Of course he wasn’t ok, the man had just exploded in you.
“You must forgive me” Anthony spoke hoarsely as he brushed his hair back. He couldn’t believe what he had just allowed himself to do.
Quietly you sat not sure of what to say when the carriage ride stopped. Without saying a word but clearly lost in his thoughts, Anthony helped you out of the carriage. Your chaperone waiting at the door, you thanked Anthony for getting you home and silently walked away.
Anthony sat in the carriage alone in silence, staring at the seat across from him thinking over what just happened. That’s when he spotted the small drop of blood seeped into the seat. Cursing at himself he looked away, you didn’t deserve this. How could he have allowed himself to have you this way.
Laying in bed that night you couldn’t stop thinking about how Anthony kissed you, how he touched you, how he felt. The look of guilt in his eyes as if he was angry at himself for giving into temptation…but the thing was, you didn’t mind it. The risk of being ruined for Anthony Bridgerton, oh it was so wrong but it felt so good.
A few days had now passed and you had not heard of Anthony. Truly you didn’t know what to expect after what happened but you hoped to hear from him.
Wandering through the town with your chaperone you entered a fabric shop to buy a new dress. Hearing giggling and snickering around the shop you continued to look at the fabrics when you turned to the back and were shocked to see Anthony Bridgerton.
There he was standing beside a woman which seemed too close for comfort.
Oh you should’ve known.
The woman beside him gasped and quickly separated herself from him as you stood still with your lips parted.
“Lady Robinson” the woman spoke politely as Anthony showed instant guilt on his face.
“I..I should go prep some fabric in the front.” The woman quickly walked past you as Anthony stood still with his hands behind his back.
“Julianne-“
“I must go” you hid the embarrassment with a smile quickly turning your face when you ran into Daphne.
“Oh! What are the odds?!” She smiled with glee while looking over to see Anthony behind you.
“Brother, I’ve been looking for you. Talking with the shop owner again I see-“
“I better get going, I’m in a hurry today. It was nice seeing you.” You interrupted her not wanting to hear anything more of what she was saying.
“You will be at the ball, won’t you?” She asked as you rushed off towards the door. Anthony waiting for your response looked your way, hoping you would say yes.
“Oh..yes”
“Perfect…I’ll see you then” Daphne smiled before turning back to the dresses as you left.
Anthony watched as you walked off without looking back. He couldn’t imagine what you thought of him, truth was, he couldn’t stop thinking of you more than ever.
But he was ashamed.
Anthony had been with many women but he knew you had never been with a man. He felt you deserved much more than to be seduced in a carriage late at night, you deserved more respect than that and truthfully he was angry at himself for it. Daphne would kill him if she knew what he had done, he was sure of it.
Yet, even through all the shame… Anthony wanted more.
Days later your chaperone had placed all your belongings together for the ball that night. Sitting in your chair as you brushed your hair you continued to think of Anthony. A part of you wanting to feel his touch and another part of you was….angry. How could you be a fool to think a rake would have treated you differently. Putting too much trust in the idea that this was your best friends brother. Closing your eyes you took a deep breath trying to shake off the thoughts when you suddenly froze. Your eyes bulging open you realized you had missed your cycle…
Any ideas for a part 2?

                                         *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
(A/N: I finished Season 2 of Bridgerton a while back, but what did everyone think? It didn’t have me as gripped as the first season but I still really enjoyed it, my obsession for Benedict has come racing back! I’m also so sorry for the wait, I actually didn’t realise how long it had been since the last part!)
                                          *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
“An invitation has arrived for you ma’am.” a maid announced to Violet as she entered the drawing room.
Violet thanked her as she opened the delicate paper, a smile appearing when she read it.“Lady Danbury is throwing a Summer Day at her estate!”
Eloise, who was in her usual spot with a book, rolled he eyes, knowing she would be up for another night of looking for suitors. Benedict’s attention was caught now, wondering if (Y/N) would also be there. The other Bridgerton’s were not as fussed about the event, at least there would be games to pass the time.
“Oh how lovely. Oh, Eloise, that new dress of yours would do very well for this event, the new one Madame Delacroix made-”
“Yes.” Eloise snapped, a sarcastic smile on her face.“Thank you for still dressing me mama, even at this age.”
Violet huffed.“You seemed so vibrant at the (Y/L/N)’s art event last week, I would like to see it again.”
“We will all attend mother. It will be another chance for Benedict to meet with Lady (Y/N).” Anthony smirked.
Benedict hoped he wasn’t blushing as much as he thought he was.
“Of course dear, I didn’t forget about her.”
“You two seemed to be getting along quite well.” Collin pointed out.
“Yes, I suppose we did.” Benedict replied, finding himself getting embarrassed.
“She truly is a beautiful woman, smart and kind too.” Violet beamed.
“I was surprised she wasn’t deemed the diamond of the season.” Hyacinth said.
Benedict smiled at his sister’s words. How right she was. But it also made him glad, because it meant that not all men were flocking to her, well, not as quickly anyway. He had never been interested in a woman like this before. He always brushed off the idea of marriage until Anthony was wed, but it seemed he was going to be the first brother to marry. Benedict wanted to speak to her all the time, hold her, paint her, write poetry about her; and he had been so close to kissing her.
“How sweet of you to say.” Violet smiled at her youngest.“Now, Benedict dear,” she sat beside him,“we need to make a plan-”
“Oh mother, I do not need to plan how I will speak with Lady (Y/N).” Benedict sighed.
“I have no doubt that your conversation flows freely, it is the other suitors you need to be wary of. You said yourself how many there were when she was called upon.”
“I don’t think he needs to worry about that.” Eloise spoke up.“Lady (Y/N) has a mind of her own, she will be having this same conversation with her parents.”
“Well, let us hope you are right, Eloise. I personally would not let this woman get away if I were you Benedict.”
(Y/N) felt tense at her family breakfast, hating how the seating arrangement had been made. She had not realised that Lord Belby would be staying with them for the week, his excuse was that it was in the final stages of being refurbished, and he wanted to see his home for the first time in all its glory. So when (Y/N) saw Lord Belby seated across from her at breakfast, she found it hard to keep herself composed.
She tried to hide behind the latest issue of Lady Whistledown, only to be more disappointed when she saw she had wasted her ink on Lord Belby.
'And dear reader, we have a new face amongst us in the Ton. The creative Lord Belby introduced himself at the (Y/L/N)'s Art Exhibition, and it seemed he has caught the attention of many young ladies already. He has already achieved what many gentlemen this season have failed to do; gain a woman's undivided attention.'
(Y/N) slipped the paper under herself on the chair, she didn't want to give Belby a chance to read it, it would only boost his already enormous ego.
Her parents did not know of his rudeness at their event, she thought it would disappoint them to see her disrespecting their guest. And Benedict was not here to save her today, she hadn’t stopped thinking about him since.
“Lady Danbury has issued out invitations, she is holding a Summer Day.” Lady (Y/L/N) told the table.
“What a marvelous way to head into the summer season.” Lord Belby said, and (Y/N) wanted to roll her eyes.
“Well, I should hope a certain Lord Bridgerton will be in attendance.”
(Y/N) couldn’t help but smile widely at her mother who was also excited.
“Now darling, we mustn’t get too ahead of ourselves.” Lord (Y/L/N) said.“He is only one of the many possibilities on the table.”
“I don’t see this as a bad thing. They get along very well.”
“They have met twice.”
“And they will meet many more times this season. (Y/N), we shall head to the modiste this afternoon.”
“You don’t have a dress already?”
“Not for this occasion, especially when (Y/N) could be speaking with her future husband.”
Belby quietly chuckled.“Not Lord Bridgerton I hope.”
“And why not, Lord Belby?” (Y/N) finally spoke.
“Well, after that scandal with his younger sister and the Duke last season-”
“Oh, forgive me for speaking out, Lord Belby,” (Y/N)’s mother giggled,“but no one cares about that anymore. And they are a very happy family. Besides, that will all be forgotten about once (Y/N) and Lord Benedict Bridgerton are the newest couple.”
Lord Belby only humoured his hosts, not wanting to be rude. He thought it would be easy to persuade the mother that he was a perfect match for their daughter, the father took no convincing (not when Belby flaunted his wealth), though know he had a challenge on his hands. Maybe if he had gone to the ball prior to his art exhibition, he might have nabbed one of the prettiest girls in the Ton before this Brigderton boy. There was still time.
Madame Delacroix had a satisfied smile on her face as the (Y/L/N)'s walked in. The mother was obsessed with dressing her daughter in the finest and most up to date dresses, meaning more money for the seamstress. (Y/N) did love looking elegant too, and seeing as she had Benedict to impress, she was more invested in the fabrics than usual. Just as Madame Delacroix started sizing up the young woman for another dress, the bell above the door rang again, turning the ladies' heads.
"Ah, Lady Bridgerton, I shall be just a moment." Delacroix smiled.
"Thank you." Violet replied as she approached."Lady (Y/L/N), Lady (Y/N), this is a lovely surprise."
Eloise could have rolled her eyes. Violet had forced Eloise to go shopping with her, before she and the couch became fused, she was always sat there with a book. They had no reason to come into the modiste, but Violet saw an opportunity to know her potential in-laws better.
"My, (Y/N), that colour looks radiant on you." Violet complimented.
(Y/N) grinned, hiding her slight nerves."Thank you. Eloise, are you here for a new dress?"
"No, I have far too many at home as it is." she said without thinking, knowing her mother had just sent her a look.
(Y/N) hid her laughter, but smiled knowingly at Eloise
"No we are just here for some accessories, aren't we?" Violet said.
"Well, seeing as Lady Danbury is having a lovely Summer Day, we thought it was a good excuse to buy another dress." (Y/N)'a mother joked.
"Yes, we are also in attendance. I do hope we run into each other again."
"I have no doubt we will all be spending time with a Bridgertin or two."
The mothers may as well have winked at each other, giddy at the thought of their children seeing one another again. Eloise just smiled at (Y/N) before she was dragged away, everyone knew her and Benedict liked each other, why were they being so secretive?
The three eldest Bridgerton boys used the sunny weather to their advantage, brushing up on their fencing skills. Benedict was supposed to be the umpire on the sides as Colin and Anthony sparred, but he couldn't concentrate.
"That was clearly a foul!" Anthony huffed."Benedict, are you not paying attention?"
Benedict shook his head, as if he were shaking off something."Sorry, I was simply daydreaming."
"Probably about the Lady (Y/N)." Colin teased.
"I know you like her brother but could you please give us your time just for fencing?"
"I actually wasn't thinking about her." Benedict slightly lied."I was wondering about Lord Belby."
Colin relaxed onto the nearby bench, much to Anthony's annoyance."Oh, I didn't know you had called on him as well."
"Very funny. What do you two know about him?"
"Well," Anthony knew that the activity had stopped now,"he's not a very good gentleman, and that's putting it lightly."
"How do you mean?"
"He is good with the ladies, but that only means he talks to and uses a lot of them. And I mean proper ladies, not ladies of the night."
"A dishonourable man living in the (Y/L/N)'s home, and they don't even know it."
"No, I'm sure Lord (Y/L/N) knows nothing about that side of him. His daughter certainly wouldn't be around Belby, that's for sure."
"You are worried he will try to woo her, aren't you?" Colin asked.
"I mean, yes, a little, but I know she doesn't like him."
"Then you have nothing to be worried about."
"It just doesn't seem right."
"Well, lucky for you, she seems to dote on you for some reason. We all know you two will be attached by the arm at Lady Danbury's next event."
The Ton was buzzing as everyone invited to the Summer Day made their way to Lady Danbury's estate. Would Lady Whistledown write about today? Or more specifically, would she write more about the new Lord Belby or the next potential engagement?
(Y/N) found it hard to keep her breathing steady as they walked out to the garden. Thee were lots of people looking at her, strangers who she had never spoken to were suddenly making small talk. Her parents were taking it all in, enjoying the attention, their daughter was the talk of the ton. Belby had also tagged along (well, technically he was invited), meaning (Y/N) clung to her mother's arm. She didn't want to give Belby a chance to grab her. It seemed her mother didn't mind either, she actually didn't want Belby near her daughter, she didn't want people getting the wrong impression that Belby now had her.
"Lady Danbury," Lady (Y/L/N) greeted as the family saw their hostess,"an exquisite day by your hand as usual."
"I appreciate the high praises from you just arriving. But I must say, I was happy with the quick response from my invitation."
"Of course, we love any event you host."
(Y/N) wished her mother wasn't so pleasing. She sounded desperate for validation.
"You are always welcome in my home. And how could I miss seeing the most talked about suitors of the ton? Imagine, my event was the day you two finally announced something special."
(Y/N)'s father nervously chuckled, ending up spluttering everywhere. The group watched him as he recovered himself.
"Lady Danbury, you are bold with your words."
She had a smirk on her face."I am excited is all."
"The pair have only spoken a couple of times-"
"If I recall correctly, wasn't there a similar couple in our midst, professing their love for each other and marrying quite swiftly? And everyone thought them to be the sweetest pairing of the year."
(Y/N) smiled at Lady Danbury, who winked back. (Y/N)'s parents had fallen in love quickly, as Lady Danbury said, everyone knew it was a solid and secure marriage that would be filled with happiness. However, the word' love' threw her for a second. She no doubt had feelings for Benedict, and she knew he felt the same, but that word had very strong meanings behind it; it wasn't a word you tossed around lightly.
"I do think Miss (Y/L/N) should like to take a walk with me. Shall we dear?" Lady Danbury was already turning away.
Before her parents (or Belby) could protest, (Y/N) scurried to the woman's side, a giddy feeling in her stomach. This woman was her saving grace.
"I felt suffocated under all that pressure, did you?" she started.
"My parents just want to make sure that they are doing their best for me."
"You are safe with me girl, you can speak your mind with no consequence."
(Y/N) was hesitant. Was this a trick? Did her parents put Lady Danbury up to this? But she so wanted to express her true feelings.
"I love my parents dearly, with all my heart, but they seem conflicted with each other on the matter of my courting."
"They are arguing?"
"No, not arguing. My father seems more hesitant than mother."
"Men always are. And your father's job is to protect you. I would not fret. You have found a good man and a doting family to marry into."
There was another big word-marriage.
"I know the Bridgerton's well. You could not have chosen better."
"That is reasurring to hear."
"When you're young, you think your parents know everything, that they are avke to make all your decisions for you. But that's not the case when it comes to love. You have to be sure that you want to be with this person for the rest of your life. And that can only be decided by you. Do not let others influence you."
(Y/N) sighed."It's a big decision."
"You are having second thoughts about your suitor?"
"No!" she had exclaimed all too quickly."No, I don't. Which I why I'm confused. I don't know why I am so nervous if I'm sure that I like him and that he feels the same about me. Surely I should be calm and collected, I have nothing to worry about."
"You don't. But unlike a lot of people here, you are not just marrying for money. You are lucky that your parents wanted you to be happy. You're nervous because you have taken a liking to the Bridgerton boy, you don't want anything to ruin what you have. There's a lot to think about, and it doesn't help that you have all eyes on you. Especially Lady Whistledown."
"No, it hasn't. That's the only thing I wish we didn't have, everyone asking us questions about our courtship. Or pretending to he our friends just to get the gossip."
Lady Danbury and (Y/N) had walked to a more secluded area, they were still in sight of everyone, but the guests were situated around the refreshments, cakes, games, music and their own circles of friends.
"You have a good head on your neck girl, you are not blind to the way our society works. Do not doubt yourself or what you want. Don't let other influence your decisions when it comes to love."
(Y/N) nodded.
"By any chance, do you know much your guest, Lord Belby?"
"Besides the fact that he is egotistical and thinks himself better than others?" She gasped, realising how rude she sounded."I have spoken out of line, I apologise Lady Danbury-"
"Just as I suspected. And I am glad you voiced your opinion truthfully. I don't trust him. But it seems your father does."
Lady Danbury looked back to the Lord in question, seeing that he was already watching. It clicked for her that Belby was here for more than a bit of representation. Another figure caught her eye in the distance, a familiar family entering her garden.
"Well, it seems we must end our talk, Miss (Y/L/N)."
The young girl followed her gaze. Oh goodness, would her heart ever steady?
"Come, let me escort you to him."
(Y/N) was glad she hadn't sipped on any lemonade yet, she would have hiccups from the nerves. Lady Danbury seemed to be making haste, walking far too fast for (Y/N)'s liking.
Violet spotted her friend and future daughter-in-law straight away. Dragging Benedict forward, they met the pair, the rest of the Bridgertons catching up to their mother.
"Lady Danbury." Violet grinned.
"Ah, the Bridgertons are here, the party can really start now."
"(Y/N), don't you look beautiful. Benedict, doesn't she look lovely?"
All eyes darted to him. He was stuttering over his words, flustered that everyone was being so awkward about this."Yes, yes she does."
(Y/N) kept her smile, hiding her disappointnent in his words.
"I believe Lord and Lady (Y/L/N) want to speak with you. Shall I take you to them?"
"Why yes, of course."
The two ladies were laughing as they walked away, no doubt diving into a thorough conversation about the match. (Y/N) was nervous with the rest of the Bridgertons family standing before her, including some she had not yet met.
"Oh, (Y/N), you have yet to meet the rest of my family. This is Daphne, the eldest of my sisters, and the two youngest, Gregory and Hyacinth."
"Lovely to meet you all."
(Y/N) hadn't met the youngest before but she had spoken to Daphne briefly in her season. It was silly, but at a cafe, (Y/N) had ordered a cake as she usually did (she had an undeniable sweet tooth), only to offer it to Daphne when she saw how upset she was at the other table.
"Have we met before?" Daphne asked, trying to place (Y/N)'s face.
"Oh, yes, we have actually." (Y/N) was glad she was the one to bring it up."I gave you the last chocolate cake at that cafe, you looked like you were having a bad day, and after the waitress told you that there was no more cake left, I had to give it to you."
How could Benedict not melt at that? She truly had a heart of gold.
"Yes of course! You didn't look like you wanted to give it away."
"No, I must say, when it comes to sweet things, I am not one to share."
"Oh how peculiar that we meet again in these circumstances."
"We are going to play bowling brother." Hyacnith announced to Anthony before her and Gregory ran off.
"Shall we take a walk?" Benedict held his arm out to (Y/N).
"Why don't we all join you?" Anthony suggested.
"Brother-"
"It is a lovely garden to walk around, is it not sisters? Daphne could help me look for Eloise's potential suitors. "
Eloise's eyes shot wide open, suddenly looking for an escape. Daphne knew Anthony was only doing this because he wanted to know more about (Y/N), though she also knew that the couple wanted more time together. When Daphne tried to deter her brother's plan, he just linked his arm with hers and Eloise's, before walking away. Benedict sighed as they followed, their arms linked too.
"I am sorry about him. My brother doesn't understand how rude he can be sometimes."
"I understand. He just wants to know who I am. If I had any brothers I'm sure they would be the same."
Benedict looked down at her, and she met his eyes, blushing under his stare."You look exquisite today. I am sorry I did not tell you earlier, I was-"
"Bashful?"
"Yes, I guess I was. You are glowing."
Lady Danbury didn't hide her feelings as Lord Belby voice his opinions on (Y/N)'s courtship.
"Even Lord (Y/L/N) has said that it is far too soon to be making any decisions."
Lord (Y/L/N) found himself stuck for words once again."I-I didn't quite say it like that."
"I can count on one hand how many times they have met."
"Lord Belby, you seem to be very involved with Miss (Y/N)'s love life. I did not realise you were family." Lady Danbury said.
"I am not."
Violet did not like how forward he was."I think (Y/N) and my son are quite well matched."
"So do I." Lady (Y/L/N) added, giving Violet a small nod. They were definitely on the same page.
"I didn't say that. But (Y/N) should keep her options open whilst deciding."
"For who? For you?" Lady Danbury could play this game.
"Why not? I am an eligible gentleman aren't I?"
"A gentleman indeed."
"I think the ladies are in need of some refreshments, shall we Belby?" Lord (Y/L/N) ushered him away."You're going to mess this up if you keep speaking out of term."
"I'm messing this up? You're the one who promised me your daughter's hand!"
"Well, that was before she fell for this Bridgerton."
"So stop it. You're her father."
"I don't want to!"
"What about our deal? The entrepreneurs I was going to bring to you?"
"I don't need your help Lord Belby. I just thought I could kill two birds with one stone; marry my daughter and get some money. But after seeing her with the Bridgerton boy, I can't break her heart like that. And I have enough money, I don't need yours or anyone else's. Our deal is over."
Lord (Y/L/N) swiftly left, hoping Belby wouldn't come after him. He didn't, but he was angry. Why weren't things going his way like they usually did? What happened to his charm? Why did (Y/N) want Benedict when Belby could be so much more interesting for her? It was nonsense.
However, Belby didn't like losing. He refused to lose. So as he tried to call himself down, a devious plan formed in his head once he spotted Eloise Bridgerton, all alone, seeming to be sneaking away from the party. A wicked smirk twisted onto his face as he went after her. A young woman like that shouldn't be alone, anyone could come along and do something to her.

i’m currently reading the bridgerton series and my urge to write a joe burrow bridgerton au is strong. in my head it would include the established cast of bridgerton characters who would be the reader’s family friends and joe would be a friend of the elder bridgerton brothers from oxford.
this concept is so self indulgent and i have no idea if there would be anyone else interested in reading fics based in this weird crossover au. even if there aren’t i’ll probably write it anyways because i think it would be so cute. i just want joe to bring me flowers and dance with me at balls while i get to wear a pretty gown :,)
if you have any interest in this idea do let me know!!! feel free to comment or send an anon message through my ask box <3

Would someone please, please, please put Ben Barnes in regency period piece. Not as a villain, but as a complex lead with a suitably tragic backstory.
