I legitimately could write so many essays or video essays on the dream SMP if I actually sat down to do it
- retrospective: dream smp's place in internet culture; how a very unique set of circumstances led to the explosion in popularity
- retrospective: rise and fall of the dream smp; something about how scheduling issues and various other things caused the actual story of the server to fall apart in many ways
- legitimately probably dozens of character studies and story analyses i could do especially about tommy dream and wilbur who are my favorites and have such a unique narrative dynamic
- i have this one fucking batshit theory/take from ages ago (just after tommy died in prison) in which pandora's vault is representative of the actual moral center of the dsmp and tbh i think i cooked with that one
- the impact of fanon on canon and my own personal experiences with Canon As A Suggestion
- the unique space the medium occupies: cc! and c! blurring the lines between actor and character, the weird half-lore segments, the fact that it started out as a bit and became something So Serious, the way that live-streamed minecraft roleplay actually works as a storytelling medium
- legitimately i could probably write really good literature reviews on certain subsections of fanfiction especially sbi tropes.
- subpoint: how the dream smp's specific boundaries and culture made gen fic far more popular than ship fic and how that is so nice to see as an aroace person specifically but also just in general
- just a personal essay on how important and impactful the dream smp was to me As A Person and how it's still a piece of media that is really really important to me, and how i balance that with the feeling of cringe and also The Controversy
- an exploration of fandom space and culture through the dsmp and my experiences in it autoethnography style
like i have So much to say all the time this doesn't even really cover it. exile's impact on the story. when the lore became actually serious. wilbur's entire character arc. tommy as an unwillingly willing protagonist. the discs. THE DISCS. the way that i would rewrite the story if it were me telling it. the way that since it was roleplay it was essentially a first draft and that should be taken into account when analyzing it. Literally Any Fandom Discourse. Literally Any Personal Essay. Literally Any Character Analysis. if i had the time and energy to actually do research for these things and put them together i would be so banger for real

okay i had a THOUGHT
i know i just made boe (toh doeblossom) literally just me but in the show style again. but since i made her raine's kid (cringe but free) what if she was the OPPOSITE of amity
natural mint green from papa raine but dyes it brown
its already canon to me that shes overly protective of her hair and would never dye it because thats just asking for trouble but its a FUN concept
im already attached to the way she currently looks but it DOES bug me a little that raine being their parent doesnt affect the way they look (im imagining single parent of a magic-born baby)

I still don't rightly know how to format this or what to say in these things so if anyone has recommendations for how to make this better please let me know!
A Little Info:
I am not by any means a professional or organized blog. This is a sort of chaotic amalgamation of book reviews, hot takes on shows/books/movies, filling prompts, and generally whatever my tiny little lizard brain decides to enjoy at any given moment (writing wise).

oh look! an intro post!
hello! welcome to my writing side blog. this is where i hide all my oc nonsense. i will try my best to post here but i make no promises.
a little about me: you may call me nat or natyune! i don't really like any other nicknames. i'm a graduate student and i'm going a little insane, but such is life. as such, i am super busy and my activity is sporadic at best. my main blog is @natyune-art, which is where i post art of my ocs :)
all asks are welcome! i try to answer all the ones i get but i am a busy person.

a little about my current WIPs:
the weaver's apprentice:
vaguely a collaboration with @briarborealisocs! this wip follows auryn, a fire mage and traveling performer with a distinct inability to tell the truth. despite lacking the ability to perceive or control witch-magic, he has become somewhat obsessed with learning all he can about it. he seemingly refuses to answer questions about the spells and enchantments he is researching. auryn eventually befriends a witch named kadijah (@briarborealisocs' character), who slowly grows suspicious of him due to his seemingly coincidental connections to the recent kidnappings that have been occurring in his wake. still, she is somewhat reckless and curious and ends up attempting to figure him out while she helps him with his research, despite not fully understanding what it is he is searching for.
the fey courts:
this one doesn't have an official name yet. someday it will. regardless, this wip follows amina, a young seelie mother, as she attempts to save her changeling son's life from a magical illness with seemingly no cure. in the process of searching for a cure, things don't go to plan and she ends up transported into the unseelie fey realm. amina ends up befriending katarina, an unseelie changeling with the same set of symptoms as her son. she also befriends nikolai, katarina's twin brother, who has been researching a medicinal treatment for his sister's symptoms since he could walk. in the process of trying to understand the magical illness, amina begins to grow wary of nikolai's very unnerving methods. to put it simply, things begin to fall apart the more amina begins to uncover.
i have other WIPS, but theyre on the backburner. maybe someday i'll share about them. anyways, my ask box is open and i would love to talk about my characters, so if you have any questions please feel free to ask!

In LHK, we have a week-long event called the Spirits Risen Festival. I'll put all of the information about it below the cut, if anyone wants to know all about it! It starts on the 24th of October and ends on the 31st. October 31st is called Spirit's Eve. Of course, at the end will be a TL;DR rundown of events and practices, but I highly recommend reading as much as you can.

The History
Haustonne
Haustonne was the first created of these traditions. Each year, during the last week of harvest (now established from October 24th to October 31st), ponies would celebrate their bounty through festivals.
The first day is a day of work, where every pony would gather together and assist farmers with collecting their crops. The second day, new crops are planted to hibernate during winter and begin their blossoming through spring. On the third day, the crops would be sold or traded throughout the village (and neighboring villages) and food not being used for the feast would be preserved. The fourth day was a day of rest, where ponies were able to lounge and relax themselves.
The fifth day was spent on more work, preparing food for the upcoming feasts. The sixth day was a small feast, where ponies would eat with and appreciate their families. On the seventh day, ponies would spend partying and feasting together while thanking their respective deities for good weather. This deity depends on each village, of course, with many thanking Hestia, Solaris, and the stars themselves. However, a select few gave their thanks to Astraea, Celeste, other asterin/deities, or no one at all.
On the seventh day, because it was held later in the night with food outside, would attract many critters looking for food to steal for the upcoming winter. Many ponies took to dressing in costumes to the festival so they could scare away the animals and protect their food.
Spirits Risen Day
Spirits Risen Day was a tradition started in the 12th century. During the autumn months, foals were very easily frightened during the night due to the falling leaves and dropping temperatures. To ease their foals, a village previously called Sunrise (now known as Rosewood) took to celebrating death and spirits during the last day of Haustonne. This eased their foals’ fears, and taught them to respect the ponies who passed before them.
Some ponies from a neighboring village, Bellen (modern day Belleside), took a different approach. On the last day of Haustonne, they would dress as animal-like monsters to scare their foals in bed before quickly removing any masks to reveal themselves. This turned the scare into a fun game for some foals, but a worsening effect for others.
These two traditions meshed, with the sixth day of Haustonne becoming Ancestor’s day, and the seventh becoming Spirits Risen Day. As a compromise, rather than scaring the foals in bed, they would take to spooking them during the party itself where energy was already high, while comforting the foals once the party ends. These practices spread throughout the kingdom, and eventually the entire nation.
Modern Day Practices
Spirits Risen Festival
The Spirits Risen Festival is a traditional autumn festival, celebrated throughout the Lunar Heavens Kingdom for generations. Each year, every city and town opens a Spirits Risen market. These markets are open to the public, where anyone can hold a stand. This is a very profitable period for small businesses and farmers, with sales skyrocketing in the market. Many vendors choose to also offer costume material, toys, trinkets, and generally spooky, death-related merchandise.
Larger cities will also open a carnival, with more merchandise, rides, games, and food. The admission prices vary, but the first day is always free admission. Attractions are geared towards the fear factor, and many young foals are turned away from larger, scarier attractions. It’s also common for “scare actors” to wander around after sunset and frighten attendees.
Ancestor's Day and Spirit's Eve
Feasting is still a factor, with Ancestor’s Day landing on October 30th. However, more focus is usually centered around Spirit’s Eve on the 31st, where foals (and sometimes older ponies) are off critter crawling.
The purpose of critter crawling was originally to mimic the animals on the last day of Haustonne. Ponies dress as animals (or any other costume of their choosing) and go door-to-door, visiting anyone with decorated doorways. They knock on the door, and demand the resident’s harvest. The phrase depends on location, but the most popular are, “Critters are here!” and, “Share the feast with hungry beasts!” (shortened to “share the feast”).
Residents have two options: they can either give the crawlers some of their candy, or “scare them away.” Many who participate have taken to preparing a haunted-house experience to scare the crawlers away, and others have widened their array of “harvest” options. Doorway decorations have evolved to be coded for more experienced foals-or foals whose parents tell them. A door with spider webs usually means a scare (if the spider webs have fake spiders and bugs in them, it means intense scare), and a door with pomegranates (a fruit symbolizing death, fertility, and linked to Hestia as her favorite fruit) meant treats. Different fruit colors have more recently been thrown into circulation, with red pomegranates being normal treats and black pomegranates being treats safe for all ponies to eat (or non-food treats).
November 2nd is a national holiday, known as “Spirits Sunset,” for rest after the festivities and cleanup. Festivities tend to bleed over to November 1st, due to the fact that many Spirit's Eve events take place past midnight.
Summary

Sometimes actors dressed as monsters will wander the parks after sunset

Critter crawling is usually reserved for younger ponies, but sometimes older ones participate
Ponies go door to door, with "trick-or-treat" phrases varying on location
Many doors are coded in their decorations, with different kinds of decorations noting what any critter crawler should expect

Also useful for extra clean up that hadn't been completed the day prior

Asking all the writeblrs I love to grow a vast garden, apologies if I ask the same thing twice *
Hello! I'm attempting to grow a Tumblr garden, with input from people around here to make a series of short stories about' houseplant fairies. The hope would be to have a 'community tumblr garden' full of all the wholesomeness the internet can offer.
Here's the request/seed - do you have a prior worry' or 'stumbling block'. perhaps an event or a piece of advice others told you that didn't help much or simply an' obstacle that you overcame. To be honest, I'm unsure of how to accurately describe 'the seed' but something in the realm of 'society expectations versus what actually helped- or whatever you wish? Also also, favorite plant/houseplant/ flower to write the story about.

I think my obstacle would be to begin a task or remember to do a task, which I have very clearly demonstrated with this very late ask (I am so very sorry)!
Some things that others have told me to do to combat this include "just set a reminder," "it mustn't have been that important if you forgot about it," or my favorite, "I don't think you have [diagnosis]." The last one is related to my experiences with forgetting certain symptoms or events that would be crucial to a diagnosis of whatever kind. Feels like gaslighting.
I think a forget-me-not would best represent my need/want to remember things (in a literal sense, disregarding the romantic connotations). Or any related plant.

Hmm, this is a tough one and I had to give it a lot of thought. I think one of the biggest things I struggle to overcome is taking things to heart. I'm quite sensitive, see, and I tend to take things personally even when it isn't personal at all.
I still have a long way to go, but I believe I'm getting better at learning how to let things just wash over me, like water off a duck's back. I know it's nothing personal so there's no reason to get upset over it. It's simply not worth the negative feelings I put myself through when I do this to myself.
I'm not sure if this is what you meant by a seed? If not, please let me know and I'll try to better understand what you're asking for :) I hope this helps, though! Thank you so much for reaching out.
As for the plant, I chose the Philodendron because it's supposed to symbolize a love and appreciation for nature, as well as be a symbol of growth.
