Ok, it’s been a second. But I just moved into my first solo apartment and I really wanted to make a book wall. Due to the nature of this I really felt Changes in Particular was the perfect book to use.

A few things

I got the book from a used book store so wasn’t paying full price to destroy it though idk if that would have been better.

Two I burned and dyed them in tea to give it that kind of mysterious vibe to them.

Not shown but pages I specifically picked out were ones where Harry has just killed Susan to save Maggie, him breaking his back, the gangs trip through the jungle, and Murphy wielding the blade because they are my favorite.

And 20 minutes after I took this video it all fell down so I guess I need duck tape.

Hey there! I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself and share what inspired this project.

As a huge book lover (surprise, surprise!), second-hand shop enthusiast and someone who happens to be a graphic designer, this account is my way of not only sharing beautiful books, but pieces of myself and the stories others left behind. A story within a story, ranging from the meaningful to the seemingly insignificant.

The idea for this project came about slowly. I visited my parents summer of 2023 and my mom needed assistance in sorting through our home library, deciding what to keep and what to give away. As began sorting, I stumbled upon delightful surprises tucked away between the pages: old photographs, receipts, heartfelt messages from loved ones, and even my brother's long-lost fake ID. These books were like time capsules, preserving precious memories. When I got back to New Zealand, I started to collect more and more books and eventually when I got around to actually reading them – a postcard fell out from addressed from daughter to father. From that moment on, I continued to stumble upon these little gems between the pages, fragments of stories. There is a special joy in filling in the blanks with only the context of a book.

It's not often that I come across something truly meaningful, but in this account, I will share the wonderfully weird and the visually captivating, with a sprinkle of knowledge along the way. I currently reside in Christchurch, New Zealand, which is where I've mainly sourced my day-to-day finds.

Look it is very important to me that everyone knows that Sophie is also fucking nuts in the book. Everybody always talks about how absurd Howl in the book but Sophie is right there with him.

She's so determined to be the normal sister that she's just actually convinced herself that the magic she is clearly, visibly, blatantly performing happens to everyone. Just. You know. Not anyone around her. The curse wore off weeks ago and she's just totally sure she's happier as an old woman. Her sisters have initiated some complex long-game tomfoolery to switch lives and Sophie also thinks that this is the most logical choice.

Sophie does not move in with a romantic mythic man who treats her right, she moves in with a runaway doctoral candidate who immediately dates her sister and drags her into his family drama. She and Howl are both so afraid of romantic commitment they accidentally trick themselves into becoming life partners. They kill the witch of the waste mostly on a whim, and they argue about which one of them is more impulsive for doing so the whole time.
