Photographer Kevin McDermott's CASE STUDY series is new ongoing series of coffee-table books focusing on an individual model. The second volume of this new series focuses on the ruggedly handsome Matthew Dubbe. CASE STUDY | MATTHEW DUBBE is a 56 page hard-cover book of nudes bound in linen featuring a tipped-in photograph on the cover.
This edition of the CASE STUDY series captures the raw rugged beauty and sense of serenity of the California desert including Joshua Tree and Wonder Valley in 29 Palms. We also travel to the rustic mountain wilderness of Idyllwild, California with its blooming wildflowers and towering trees along the summit of the San Jacinto Mountains. These photographs bring to mind the retro sensibilities of 1970s Colt Studios and the various Californian male photography guild images of the '50s and '60s. The images are nudes and are completely uncensored.
A note from Matthew: " When Kevin and I first started working together, I immediately felt a level of comfort and mutual understanding between the two of us. As we began talking about creating this project, I was certain it would be a perfect match. I think that ease surely comes across in the images we've made. My friends love to tease me about being born in the wrong era. I love all things 60s and 70s. I believe this book is an ideal blend of the beautiful scenery of California with a touch of my own retro aesthetic. It felt so good collaborating with Kevin to create images that are truly a reflection of who I am. I really hope you enjoy this book!"

Nanami Kento, how could you begin to explain this man that was such a mystery to you ever since you and him crossed paths one night during a mission to eradicate a certain curse. He moved like lightning as he went on to kill the curse that was about to lunge at you, if it weren't for your carelessness you and him wouldn't have met more than just that.
You were interested in him.

It wasn't a surprise that one day, this man would come up to your doorstep nervously handing you a bouquet of flowers before asking you out on a date and perhaps he could show you around Shibuya.
Oh...
Shibuya.
The place where you fell further in love with the blond haired man, he might be a stoic and quiet man at work but faced with you was like looking into the man of everyone's dreams— he was just that damn perfect.
But you weren't as serious as he was, after a few weeks of meeting him you made sure he knew now that you weren't interested in having a romantic relationship with him especially in the predicament you were both in as sorcerers always constantly in dangerous events, it wasn't ideal for now but you also made sure he knew that if all of this was over you would go back to him.
Go back to him and give him the kiss you now regret to have never given him.
Now here you both stand.
Shibuya, the same place where you shared each others thoughts and spent the night walking around its streets looking around for anything that could catch you eyes.
If only you knew that this place that started everything would be the same place that would end everything.
Nanami stood there bloodied, half of his body was burnt while he looked almost dead. This time you wanted to save him from the curse that was about to kill him but he stopped you, why did he stop you when you were about to save him?
Why did he stop you when you both knew that there was something more between you?
Why?
You had no other choice than to watch the man you regretted not having loved in the first place face a dangerous cursed being, you watched from the window of the train cabin he trapped you in for your safety as his tired eyes looked towards you as he smiled weakly before—
His dead body dropped to the floor.
It just happened all so sudden that you couldn't even register everything as you stared at his lower half on the floor, his guts all over the place.
The man who promised to wait until you were both ready... gone.
You banged on the windows, crying and pleading that someone help Nanami. You couldn't cope with the loss as you continued to go crazy inside the cabin, you wanted him back— you wanted Nanami Kento back.
You wanted to tell him how much you loved him.
How he was more than just someone you were destined to meet, how he you and him were supposed to live a peaceful life in Malaysia like you two shared back in that night here in Shibuya.
But it was all too late...
