HAHA ok so spoilers for What Came After, but there’s a spot in that fic where Cody races to the top of the Mandalorian capital building and he’s got this image in his head of Sith!Obi-Wan sitting on the Mandalorian throne, surrounded by bodies and lightsaber char, holding Satine’s dead body across his lap like La Pieta, right? 

That was actually the *original* plan for the discovery scene of that fic! But when I played it out in my head, Obi-Wan was like—what the fuck? Why would I do that? I may have Fallen, but I Fell because I lost Satine—I’m not just going to sit down and brood over her body. I might be dramatic, but I’m not an idiot; I’m going to do whatever I can to help her. 

So he went to the medbay, and Cody proved himself smarter than me because he realized it more quickly than I did.

4. What is the plot bunny you’ve been carrying for the longest? optional bonus question: do you ever wonder why you haven’t written it yet and experience deep existential dread?

Ohhh hmm. I’ll be honest, I don’t tend to sit on plot bunnies for fandom. Either I write it or it goes in the compost bin. I’ve got a couple fics I might pick up sometime later (an ex-academia au) but I lost interest in them for good reason. I DO however have an original fiction/short novella story that I’ve been sitting on since high school, and… I don’t know why I haven’t managed to finish it off just yet. I started a collaboration project with a friend and then dropped it… maybe it’s too personal? it’s very personal. Writing it at times did feel like flaying myself alive.

31. Tell us about one of your characters who’s an absolute joy to write.

Man I hate to be so predictable but I LOVE CODY. I love!! Cody! I love Cody so much. He’s just so—he’s so fun, and he’s so smart, but he’s so understandable, and he makes mistakes but he moves past them, and he wants the best for his brothers and his Jedi, and he’s so grounded, and he knows when to say “fuck this”, but he’s also got so much room for character growth, and he’s so willing and able to learn, and he’s funny, and dryly sarcastic, and I just, I love Cody. Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.
