i know there's a little bit of info on him currently included in my roster but ! i wanted to cobble together a more detailed rundown of my courier (the sixth one) + his verses. he is a bit of an unreliable narrator, so i'm leaving gaps in this - thing is he doesn't know what's up, so neither shall we.

(that said, if anyone has ncr muses who could maybe piece some things together, hit me up. he can't keep getting away with this).

rough bio under the cut. trigger warnings for death, violence, drug use, the military, addiction + memory issues.

name & aliases: sasha dubrovhsky / boris medvedev / courier six. tag skills: unarmed, survival, guns. (note: given his backstory, he's proficient in these, and in stealth). age: late twenties / early thirties during the events of fallout new vegas. moving into his late thirties if in the tv show era. sexuality: bisexual. you know, for the extra damage. alignment: chaotic something. personality types: estp. enneagram 8. physical appearance: 6'3", buzzcut, brown eyes, cheekbones, numerous tattoos. imagine a large russian man who has clearly broken his nose more than once. he is russian jewish & roma ft. general slavic aura. always clean shaven if he can help it, but stubble happens to him frequently. if in the verse in which he's courier six, he will have two scars on his forehead courtesy of benny. notable features: speaking to six, one may get the sense that english isn't his first language. he doesn't really have much of a russian accent, but his cadence (especially when he is particularly tired), as well as his word choices can sometimes give him away.

he is also autistic, and may have adhd. both are undiagnosed. the latter may have something to do with six's mentat habit.

his face is rarely shown - he tends to wear full combat armour, helmet included.

the man who eventually becomes courier six is born in ncr territory to a family who are descended from vault 13, if a tad distantly (nobody in the family can track the exact lineage, nor have they tried).

six is born alexander dubrovhsky. his branch of the family are loyal to the ncr in some ways, though their primary ideology is born not of the ncr, but of memories of their heritage. sasha receives more of an education than he feels he needs, but he is a curious soul and enjoys picking apart the way of things. devours books when he can get them. is in trouble more than once in his childhood for taking things apart to see what makes them tick.

he is not yet of age when he enlists. he's tall and broad enough to pass for it, and nobody in ncr recruitment looks too deeply into the issue. even before taking two bullets to the forehead, he is an improviser - there's no real plan tied to his enlistment. he makes it through basic easily enough - can remember that fine. can remember being passed up for first recon so as not to waste his hand to hand abilities - he is, in a word, large. can remember being filtered into the rangers instead. can remember later leaving his dog tags on a corpse about his size. tossing the tags that had originally been on the corpse in question into the colorado river.

the why of it is unclear. but he remembers the bloodless panic, and in hindsight is certain he had something to do with that death. can't say for certain whether or not this is unlike him, but the potential will keep him watching himself out of the corner of his eye, waiting for some similar slip up.

he knows he picked his new name out of the past. boris was the name of some relative, he thinks. perhaps a distant cousin, perhaps not. medvedev, on the other hand, is born of the bear tattoo adorning his ribs. (two-headed, stick and poke, slightly weathered, scar cutting through it).

recalls a time, too, when he burns his armour and weighs his options. he knows how to kill things, and is the sort of person with at least a chance at surviving the wasteland. so far so good, anyway. he passes a town with a mojave express office, and volunteers himself for a job. from that point on, he is a courier.

post gunshots to the head, he'll wonder if the memory issues are new. thinks they must be. things improve with time, but some things, he thinks, will never come back to him.

he remembers just enough to feel like helping the ncr is the most deranged thing he's ever done. he does it anyway. that said, six saunters vaguely in the direction of socialism whenever possible.

he identifies a chem habit, but can't be sure he had it before he was shot. can remember snippets of things he used to know, and understands that a great deal of the information is barred now. one hobby of his is gathering it again.

choices in game:

these will be updated in time (i'm going to play again to refresh my memory on him), but he can either pick the independent or ncr route depending. if we're writing post game, his default is independent, though that was a difficult decision for him and he still feels two ways about it. he isn't a blind ncr loyalist by any stretch, and is aware that there are some in the ncr who'd string him up if they knew he'd deserted, but he is not immune to propaganda.

alternate depictions:

i have written him before as an ncr ranger spy who is only moonlighting as a courier, never properly deserted (because the desertion catalyst wasn't there; he made it through the battle of hoover dam in 2077 just fine in this verse), and didn't end up shot in the head in goodsprings. in that verse, he can be recruited as a companion - for anyone who's into that.

this version of him isn't as fleshed out right now (read: i don't remember most of the development i did when i was writing him this way) but i'll update this later, and i'm happy to plot things out on a character by character basis. he is generally motivated to fight the legion, and will in time become somewhat disillusioned with the ncr.

To me, Mike Wheeler is just gay, so hear me out. Many will say that he loves El or that they believe in bisexual Mike Wheeler. While, yes, Mike may seem like he likes El, the reality is that he was kinda pressured into it. Let's be honest, the 80s were not the safest place to be gay. Hell, today is not the safest place to be gay. But the 80s especially. And hetero-normativity is a thing. So, Mike spent his childhood learning that boys liked girls. It was common knowledge.

Therefore, when El comes along and everyone thinks he likes her, he subconsciously decides that he should like her. We see Lucas saying he looks at her like "El, marry me." We see Nancy asking if he likes her. So, Mike thought that he should like her. Now, some will argue he did really like her for who she was. However, I personally believe something else. As we all know, El has shaved hair and is compared multiple times to a boy. (I think we all know where I'm going with this.) If Mike did have some feelings for El it was because he was projecting onto her.

Hence why he preferred her without the wig ("Yeah, pretty. REALLY pretty.") and why he preferred her in baggy clothes. He wanted to cover up the fact that she was a girl. Also, let's not forget the fact that El was also compared to Will when that friend of Benny's says it could've been the Byers kid with a shaved head.

In conclusion, it's not far-fetched to say that Mike is just a closeted gay with a lot of internalized homophobia. He was taught that he should like girls so he tries to. And he projects onto El what he actually likes. Like let's be for real, it's the 80s and Mike immersed himself in this relationship with El to keep up his heterosexual appearance and to try to be normal while in reality was not at all attracted to girls.

Favorite character: Romana. Literally who else could it be? I watched City of Death when I was 12 and I imprinted on her so quickly and I only got more attached to her in the EU. I support women's wrongs and I hope she gets some therapy sometime.

Second favorite character: uhhhhh Doctor Who has so many god tier characters but I have to go with Bernice Summerfield. Aside from her being the original iconic bisexual time travelling archaeologist, she's genuinely one of the most interesting and complex characters. She's also a disaster (relatable)

Least favorite character: I try my best to like all of the main characters (or at least find them narratively interesting) but I have a grudged against Sam Jones from the EDAs. If I met her in real life I would probably like her but I got sick of her pretty quickly in the books. I know she's meant to be a bit annoying sometimes and that's part of her character but... I'm sorry I just don't like her. (However Sam in Unnatural History.... amazing, great, showstopping.)

The character I'm most like: as much as I'd like to think that I'm cool let's be real I'm most like Nyssa (quiet, likes science, etc) but at least my planet hasn't been destroyed yet

Favorite pairing: Doctor/TARDIS. It's the ship ship what more do you want me to say?

Least favorite pairing: I'm a ship and let ship sort of person but the swathes of Ten/Rose fic I've filtered through to get to more interesting stuff has permanently put me off

Favorite moment: 12's speech to Missy in The Doctor Falls permanently changed my life

Rating out of 10: 1000000/10 i don't know who i would be without Doctor Who

Star Trek (answering for all shows)

Favorite character: Seven of Nine. Listen she's such a good character and I haven't been able to stop thinking about her in months. She's queer, she's got the autistic swag, she's got a traumatic backstory, truly all of my favorite things in a character

Second favorite character: ooooh so many good options but currently Sisko (yes I am rewatching the Dominion War arc in ds9 why do you ask?)

Least favorite character: again I don't enjoy disliking characters but I'm not a huge fan of snw!Chapel (or snw!Spock for that matter)

The character I'm most like: realistically Jake Sisko

Favorite pairing: currently Seven/Raffi

Least favorite pairing: again ship and let ship but I'm not a fan of Spock/Chapel in Strange New Worlds

Favorite moment: I mean... Far Beyond the Stars as a whole episode but particularly the last scene of Benny Russell having a breakdown which... it's just such a good scene on so many levels

Thanks so much for the asks! I literally cannot get enough of talking about my lil blorbos. I don't give Dorothy (NV) half as much attention as I give Gwenora (4), so it's nice to talk about her.

3 - Melee, guns, energy weapons, or unarmed?

As for me personally: Guns all the wayyyyyyyy. Idk what it is about NV, but I love the guns. Maybe it's because of the cowboy repeaters, varment rifles, and magnums. Really gives it that western feel. Also, the sniper rifles were good as hell. But as for my headcanon courier, she prefers her magnum. It was a gift and has a lot of significance, too.

9 - Gender / sexuality / ethnicity / species / etc.?

My courier, Dorothy Vargas, is female and is canonically bisexual, though she doesn't discuss this much. She grew up in the Casa Madrid apartments where there were cheap prostitutes, and she didn't have any real role models for half of her life. Sex, booze, chems, cigarettes, and gambling kind of became a part of her life, and she experimented with everything in her teens and early twenties, including her violent tendencies. She doesn't talk about her sexual activities a lot, but she has been known to flirt her way through situations where she knew violence wouldn't do the trick regardless of gender. She winds up with Boone, though, because even though they only teamed up to kick Legion ass together, she found that she really enjoyed someone caring about her well-being. Who she is romantically interested in has a lot to do with her trauma. Boone treats her juuuuuust right, you know? Not too nice, but not too mean lol. As for ethnicity, she has a heavily Western-American lineage. However, she doesn't know much about her family history, so it's a bit of an unknown for her. Fun fact: Manny Vargas is her brother, who was separated from her when she was 7 and he was 12.

17 - What's their reputation with the Khans / the Brotherhood / the Boomers / the Powder Gangers?

In my FF, Dorothy is a sort of special agent for the NCR. Thanks to Boone guilt-tripping her into doing "the right thing," she decides against siding with Yes Man and taking over Vegas. Instead, she joins up with the NCR, and let's just say that Colonel Moore has it out for her. Sending her on high-risk missions alone and cramming bouts of rigorous training in as few days as possible are two such ways the Colonel likes to remind Dorothy that she works for her now. And since she was sent on quests like this alone, she always tried not to chance eradicating everyone, so she worked on her diplomacy here. She talked the Khans into leaving, she talked the Brotherhood into a truce with the NCR, she left Yes Man in the care of Swank, and she conscripted the Boomers' help for the war. For the most part, she tends to completely ignore the Powder Gangers unless they give her trouble on the road, but she kills Legion scum on sight.

45 - What do they do after hoover dam?

I'm embarrassed to say that I haven't actually written this part yet, even though I've been "working" on this fanfiction for yearssssss. I feel like I'm literally going to melt just talking about this because I am so ashamed lol. But the plan for Dorothy after Hoover Dam is: Colonel Moore offers Dorothy anything she wants as thanks and as an apology of sorts for doubting her during her enlistment, and she really pulled through for the NCR. So Dorothy asks her to cancel the rest of her and Boone's 2-year enlistment term. Colonel Moore was very hesitant to adhere to Dorothy's terms, but an agreement is an agreement. So she let Boone and Dorothy go. On paper it's listed as "honorable discharge." Moore mostly agreed to Dorothy's terms because of Dorothy's pregnancy, though. She and Boone basically travel through the Mojave in search of a place to settle down. And funnily enough, she does run into Benny again, but he's in a t-shirt and overalls, scraping the dry ground with a hoe, trying to learn how to grow his own crops, the poor bastard. Dorothy stops, smiles, gives him the platinum chip, and continues traveling with Boone without so much as a word to Benny. (Book ends with Benny smiling and his favorite quote, "Ring-a-ding.") Pray that I finish this damn book, it haunts me lol.

pleaseee elaborate on your homophobic sam take. it’s very compelling. i always thought sam’s early plotline with the demon blood was a queer allegory, but your explanation for his attitude towards dean’s bisexuality makes a lot of sense now that i think about it

WOW I'M A REAL SUPERNATURAL BLOG NOW YOU CAN'T UNDERSTAND HOW MUCH THIS MADE MY DAY I WILL ABSOLUTELY ELABORATE THANK YOU

there are So Many Layers i probably won't even be able to get them all down but here's some major ones. from the get-go, sam is The Opposite of dean on so many issues, and essentially throughout the show they flip. this is most notably demonstrated by the fact that sam starts out as a Devout Christian (or at least we are to assume that he is christian given his approach to prayer, god, angels, etc) and by the end of the show sam is completely and utterly devoid of faith. whereas dean is like If There's A God In Heaven, What's He Waiting For? - Elton John.mp3 in the beginning of the show, and by the end he's like "i have faith in humanity, in spirituality, in CASTIEL, in MY SON JACK," by the end. but this is just one of the MANY issues they flip back and forth on, or just slowly and surely change their perspectives to be more like the way the other brother started.

1. should we tell people there are monsters? dean says "we can't tell anyone they exist the whole world will panic" vs. sam says "they have a RIGHT TO KNOW WHAT'S OUT THERE"

but also. are all monsters evil? dean says "yes, they kill innocent people and they killed my mother and destroyed my life, they ALL deserve to die" but sam says "SOME of them must be good....it's not THEIR FAULT they're disgusting, evil and eat people uwu"

monsters/cryptids/spirits/folklore etc have virtually always been, in some way shape or form, a queer allegory themselves. the shapeshifter arc spoke to me as a trans person on a deep personal level. dracula was essentially racist propaganda. so if we take this allegory to supernatural, and say, "acceptance of monsters = acceptance of queerness" dean's hatred of them is a hatred of himself, his own inner monster, his own internalized homophobia - in addition to the fact that because he IS a queer man who has been VICTIM to REAL VIOLENT homophobia before, it would make sense that he is #antifa #acab #kill all the nazis forever #don't waste time trying to make monsters good when you could save good people from them instead. which is like. a reasonable response to have to a group of people that systematically try to kill you. but that also makes sam's "oh pity the monster dean, don't kill it, FORGIVE, JUST GIVE THEM A CHANCE TO ~ REPENT ~ THEIR SINS" ....like, even in later seasons he is saying stuff like this, and while it's true that dean SHOULD forgive some of the monsters that sam says this about, it still reads to me as two major red flags of 1. forgive your abusers to be the better person and 2. "hate the sin, not the sinner" rhetoric. sam doesn't actually give a shit about any of these monsters he gives a shit about keeping his own ideological purity. he sounds like scary youth pastors i had as a child.

this is further demonstrated by the fact that as dean becomes more accepting of his sexuality as the show goes on, he becomes more accepting of monsters. that's benny's ENTIRE EXISTENCE AS A CHARACTER: "i accept this vampire because he is honorable, and manly, and looks really fuckin cute in suspenders." that's also why sam hates benny so much even though he's the one who's been like "but monsters can be good T__T" this whole time. what the fuck other reason would he have to hate benny so much?

this is also CLEARLY the ENTIRE subtext of the Demon Dean arc - Sam FLIPS OUT about him going off with crowley because he could FORGIVE one little crush on an angel, because of the fact that he's an angel, and also because dean wasn't "shoving his unholy lifestyle down everyone's throats" but demon dean is....loudly, angrily, gay. demon dean is a manifestation of all the gayness that dean has suppressed his whole life and now he's "too indecent" for sam. this is FURTHER demonstrated by the fact that crowley literally yells at dean to "pick a side" after demon dean sides with the slighted wife in a demon deal instead of the cheating husband, literally because of the fact that the husband says "men are just supposed to sleep around" and dean gets so mad about this sexism that he kills him.

this is dean not only rejecting sexism more than sam literally ever actually does in the show (everything he says about it reads to me as idle posturing Fake Woke Shit whereas dean is a sleazebag, but he's an Equal Opportunity sleazebag) but also his rejection of being pigeonholed as gay when he is, indeed, bisexual. crowley represents the biphobia that gay people enact on bi people, sam represents the homophobia that straight people enact on all queer people.

this brings me to the next part of sam's Not Niceness - he's like, actually 100% more misogynistic than dean is. i know i'm Not A Woman but like i am trans, queer, and not dumb. sam is a fucking sadist serial killer man who treats women like garbage the SECOND they are no longer useful to him, this is most clearly demonstrated when he doesn't have a "soul" but it existed in him basically from the get-go, he is painted as the "more emotionally mature one" but that reading became so inaccurate the show literally started making fun of his character for thinking that sappy fake shit could pass as sincere care for another human being. dean actually talks to women like they're people with feelings. he routinely identifies with the victims and is paralleled against them, especially if they are victims of childhood sexual assault. sam does not talk to women unless they serve some kind of purpose to his goals and is much more routinely depicted weirdly enjoying killing enemies that are women. sometimes not even for plot reasons, it's just weird shots that nobody thought to red flag because this show is. A MESS.

anyway. another example is the one that i mentioned in the post about the confederate soldier, the fact that sam is fucking racist and dean is at least, within the narrative, less racist.

ANYWAY, THERE'S STILL MORE I COULD TALK ABOUT BUT I'LL LEAVE IT AT THIS: sam is constantly telling dean that he's not being sensitive or poltically correct but every single time it comes off sounding like a straight person telling an actual gay person how not to be homophobic. like, please, sammy, touch grass. dean says: touch grass, kill nazis.

Sometimes I feel bad for hellers. Their proofs and reasons for believing that Dean was in love with Cass are so trivial (I don't care if they like the ship, my problem comes when they insist on doing their headcanons canon when it's clearly not like that).

Dean is a loyal man, he cares a lot about his friends and always wants to protect them. All of them. But they say he was in love with Cass because he spent a year looking for him when they were in purgatory, as if he had not done the same if, instead of Cass, the person who was with him had been Charlie, Garth, Bobby, Jody, Donna, the girls or even Eileen (I'm not even gonna name Sam here because we all know he wouldn't have even left Sam there if he thought he was dead. No, he would have stayed there and mourned him until another monster killed him).

Dean is not the type of man who leaves others behind, especially if these others are important to him. To say he was in love because of this is honestly weak and wrong because they are literally blinding themselves into thinking that this behavior was due to his "romantic love" for Cass and not because it is something already inherent in his persona. Like, do they honestly know the man at all???

And there's this other thing about Benny too: he was not Dean's "boyfriend". They were friends, brothers in combat. They saved each other's lives probably countless of times when they were in purgatory so they shared a special bond. That's why they were so close and important for each other. But this closeness they had has nothing to do with romance.

Why does everyone has to have romantic feelings towards people they care about? Real love between friends of any gender exist. Aro people exist and it doesn't mean they don't love other people. They do. They just don't have romantic feelings for them. And that's normal. That kind of love exist. And that was the kind of love Dean and Benny shared. That was the kind of love Dean felt for Cass.

And don't get me wrong, I loved Benny and I would've absolutely loved if Dean and him had a thing, but this was not the case because of a bunch of reasons, the two of the most important being that:

1) Dean was straight and he never showed any attraction for any other men in the whole 15 years that the show lasted and, oh surprise, Benny was a male vamp.

2) Because Benny was already in love with someone else and was too into her that he couldn't have even think of someone else. Not in a romantic way.

So if in the script they put "Dean and Benny break up" is not because they were in a romantic relationship. Is just because they had a relationship. A friendship. And Dean decided to part ways with him. To put an end to their friendship. So it was a break up. And Dean felt really bad for it because he lost his friend, his brother, his buddy, the person who saved him, protected him and stayed with him in that hell of a place when he was all alone and lost. And he had every right to feel bad for it. But this doesn't mean that he had the hots for him or that he was heartbroken because he just "broke up with his boyfriend".

Seriously, they should stop trying to find representation in characters that were never meant to represent us. If they want rep, great, me too, but there are a lot of other shows for that already.

If Dean was their comfort character, perfect! He also was mine too! But not because we find comfort in him, means that he has to be exactly as we want or wish he was, it means that we accept and love him for who he was, warts and all.

And sorry, but Dean was never part of the LGBTQ+ community, although he always supported it and never judged it. He was a man who didn't give a f*ck of what others could say or think about him, so if he wanted to date a man, he would've. In a heartbeat.

Jensen has already played a part of a bisexual man and he had no problem with that, so if they would've told him that Dean was bi, he would've accepted it. In a heartbeat.

If the writers were homophobic/queerphobic and didn't want to make Dean bi in canon, Jensen would've talked about it. He knows Dean better than anyone else in the world except, maybe, Kripke. So if he knew Dean was really bi but was being "silenced" by the writers, he would've never said in multiple ocassions that Dean was not bi and that he wasn't in love with Cass and that he never had the hots for any men.

He would've encourage us instead into thinking that they were right, that Dean was bi but it couldn't have been confirmed because of the homophobic writers. But that was not the case.

There's no conspiracies, there's no secrets, there's no hints nor double meanings. There's just text and what canon gave us. If they don't like it, then the show was never for them. Period. And if they want rep, they can go watch Sense8 (just for giving an example).

PS: and now I'm gonna leave these gifs of Poncho Herrera, who plays the part of Hernando de la Fuente in Sense8, because he's a hot and super talented mexican actor and he deserves all the recognition in this world.
