So Stellar Blade...

I don't normally like talking about things like this since they raise my anxiety levels, but it only just occurred to me. Stellar Blade, an upcoming PS5 game that's... a little too legally distinct from another certain franchise. But it's not just that.

Stellar Blade is very clearly influenced by NieR: Automata to the point where it may as well be a knockoff. More than that though, it's heavily influenced by Bible stories. And from a writing perspective, it makes it very predictable. The main character's name is Eve, who's part of the "7th Airborne Squad." Later on, she gains two companions, Adam and Lily. If you already know, then you can guess where this is going. If you don't, Lily can be seen as nickname for Lilith. In the Bible, Lilith was originally meant to be the first woman for Adam, but was sent to Hell for choosing not to be with him. Not only that, but the names of the bosses are influenced by Biblical demons and monsters in other mythologies.

In game, there's a place called "Xion," where the people call Eve "Angel." While I'm not sure of the beliefs of the game's director, it feels blatantly obvious what they are. And considering all the shit going on in the world right now, it's not a good look. When talking about it to my friend, who used to go to church, it actually made them mildly uncomfortable when it showed up.

Long story short, if you want my opinion, don't buy this game. Not only does it imply what the team/director's beliefs are, it's also a blatant knockoff of NieR: Automata.
