With Predathos being trapped in Ruidus as a prison, and Tharizdun having been banished to the Far Realm after the Calamity and wants to annihilate everything that's ever been created, I'm morbidly fascinated with the idea of these beings facing one another

I have the most insane feeling like this horrible thing is happening 8 more times beyond this story. Like this whole thing was only Asmodeus’ plan and all the other betrayers had there own little tragedies they orchestrated with their own flairs.

When Evandrin said... There is no god that strides this world that I worship more than I worship your heart.
He spoke into existence the love that each member of The Ring of Brass has said to one another. Their casual and somber "I Love You's" became a cosmic spell. A spell that damned, quite literally, the world, but also in doing so became its salvation. What is saying "I love you" if not the verbal component of the most powerful spell amongst wizards and others alike? For after all, in Exandria, what does it mean to be a Betrayer, but one who holds up their end of the deal.

Okay I'm on my way to get up to date with all the Critical Role Campaign 3 content, incl all the Exandria Unlimited and I have THOUGHTS!
Like yes yes Brennan & Matt thought telling a calamity story would be fun, but I don't think they do anything anymore without a certain intention (like foreshadowing Laudnas identify with Legend of Vox Machina).
So in Calamity we get what happens right before the Betrayer Gods fight against the Prime Deities in the event that changed Exandria forever. This was a very long time ago.
And now in all the Campaigns we get more and more things connected to the Betrayer Gods, like the Whispered One as the BBEG, Yasha connected to the Chained Oblivion, Ukotoah beging connected to the Cloaked Serpent, the Vestige of the Spider Queen and the beginning of Campaign 3 gives Crawled King vibes. And with ExU Calamity we get the question if the Betrayer Gods are betrayers and all the moral shit of a history wrote be the winners.
Like... we only have decades between all the Campaigns, Vox Machina is still very alive and kicking... Are we on the road for another calamity style event? Ancient forces trying to take over and change everything forever? Was Thordak just a first attempt of the Scaled tyrant?
Pls tell me your thoughts!

I get that there's needs to be nuance with Vasselheim being an oppressive force in Exandria. It's pretty clearly meant to be a message of how religious structures stray beyond their original intent and grasp for power in a desperate need to spread a certain doctrine.
The thing is, I can already tell that there are going to be people who use what's happening in C3 as ammunition for an anti-pantheon interpretation. But I desperately want to grab those people and shake them telling them that "it's not the fault of the fucking gods."
Do you genuinely believe that the Wildmother, or the Everlight, or the Platinum Dragon are the type to tell religious leaders to go out and kill/silence/oppress anyone who disagrees with Vasselheim? Because based on what we know (based on previous appearances and that these gods are canonically good/neutral aligned) they would be against it!
But, of course, the gods can never win in this debate. Because if they don't do anything - they are apathetic or hubristic and deserve to be taken down a few notches for not caring about their creations. But if they do step in and do something - they are interfering with or restricting free will and deserve to be taken down a few notches for being too controlling.
Like, obviously religious trauma is a very real and valid experience for many people both in our world and Exandria, but once more, this is because of the people in power within the religion, not the deities themselves.

ok I haven’t watched Part 3 yet but hear me out
Calamity AU where the Betrayers in their first shots fired destroy the Arboreal Calix in a century-long awaited massive fuck you to the Gau Drashari, suddenly and unintentionally allowing Laerryn enough unfettered arcane energy in the clutch to transport Avalir to another plane using her Leywright, to the chagrin of the limbered-up Primes & Betrayers, thereby saving everyone from impending doom but also making Avalir the “Most Likely to Become an Astral Fleshy Hivemind” of the floating cities.
Like sorry Aeor, you’ve had your timeline. Give me Charlie the Hodmedod in Campaign 2. Give me a very confused sphinx eternally floating and pitching alts on his roar. GIVE ME RING OF BRASS SOMNOVEM, YOU COWARDS
