Note
On the topic of faux fur, I really like plushies, and there's some vintage ones made with mohair or some handmade ones with cotton or alpaca wool, but as a whole 99% of modern plushies use synthetic fabrics. (Recently it's become popular to use recycled water bottles but that's still plastic-based.) I'm sure it would be possible to come up with non-synthetic alternatives, but firstly I'm skeptical as to how fast the industry would adopt them, and secondly that doesn't change the countless plushies already in existence (for people like me who prefer secondhand & older plushies.) To be fair I doubt it's as harmful as clothing because generally speaking plushies don't get washed on a regular basis, but it still worries me that they could be shedding microplastics or leeching chemicals or w/e and I'm not sure what to do about it... What's your take on this situation?
I would love to see a return to plushes being made of mohair like they used to, although I imagine that would make them a lot more expensive. When I was a kid my favourite soft toy was a mohair cat puppet my dad got me in Germany. I called her Grisly after the toy company that made her. Always preferred the way she felt to my other regular plushies. Don't have a pic of my Grisly as she's at my old house somewhere, but this is the same puppet;

Anyway, I do love plushies but I only have a few. Not going to condemn anyone for owning plushies but it would be nice to see more being made with non-synthetic materials. Buying second hand is probably the best option as they already exist and it's not funding more being made.
