three brush strokes on the canvas. such a simple act. but as you try to mimic it, your work is the furthest thing from what you call a good painting. his looks like a masterpiece, yet yours looks like a bunch of random colors put together. you groan in annoyance, dropping the paintbrush into the soft, lush grass.

"bedo!! how come yours looks so good?! were you blessed by the art fairy or something?!"

he chuckles in response. setting his own paintbrush down as he comfortably sits you on his lap.

"patience, [name]. even I didn't master art until a few hundred attempts."

his airy voice enters your ears, picking up the rigger and putting it between your fingers. his own placed on top of yours to guide you through the act.

"haste makes waste, after all."

slow strokes on the canvas, colors being properly combined together, you could feel his warm breath on your neck. as time passes, the used-to-be empty portrait soon morphed into an ethereal painting. at first sight, you couldn't quite identify what it was. you blinked. and then your eyes focus on an image of you. you still didn't quite understand how a normal being could create a masterpiece in only a short amount of time. you turn around and stare at your partner with loving eyes, his hand movements pause and he exchanges the same look with you. a loving moment that even he wouldn't give for the sake of khaenri'ah, his homeland. because to him, home isn't a place anymore. it's you.

hiii!! I really love how you think about the lore; so i wanted to know how you think the inevitable Rhine & Albedo reunion will go.? What it'll be like, the actual situation it'll happen in,, all of that!!

Since we just saw Skirk and Childe meet again and it was, interesting, to the say the least; how do you think Albedo's gonna react to seeing rhine after all this time? and vice versa!! 💜

albedo and rhine are so deeply interesting rn. she symbolizes both his life and death all the same so i feel like its only fitting if we see her during albedo's corruption. perhaps she returned because of the corruption? perhaps to get albedo's answer before he dies (assuming he would be fated to)? either way mixed emotions all around! i have a hard time parsing rhine which yk. makes sense seeing as we know so little of her. but i do think she cares for her creations, just maybe not in the best way possible. i think she's looking forward to albedo's answer. and i think albedo's answer would have to be best communicated through action (re: his wondering if the traveler could stop him from destroying mond). bc that martyrdom born from a love and compassion of others (something so tenderly fostered by alice and klee) would be his answer to the truth and meaning of the world. n i think that would tie in so so well w the traveler seeing as how their entire mission is made of grief and love AND its a direct change from what we would expect rhine to want (albedo going from someone purely focused on a logical and scientific answer only to find the answer is something as fluid and enigmatic as emotion..) AND it fits in w your rhine posting :3

"The Truth"

Synopsis: In the cold expanse of Dragonspine, the two unlikely duo seem to reside in the camp. Navina had a few things to do when they came there, and one of them pertained to investigating who the chief alchemist really is.

C.W.: not proofread at all lmfao I'm not sorry, Dorian is a conniving bastard but we already knew that, major character death is mentioned

"… You know, it's strange that your mark is missing."

Navina brought up randomly while they were resting on their seat, their eye drifting towards his neck. Noticing the absence of the star, they squinted at the sight before looking up at the blues of the alchemist's own eyes.

"… Did you mask it with makeup or something?"

He was perplexed by their question, since he had thought that they hadn't realized his true nature, or had any idea that he was a fake. And besides, the star was hardly noticeable to the human eye…

… He needed to make an excuse. And fast.

"Yes, I masked it with makeup," the alchemist said, his body tense as he noticed the stare from the observer and the silence coming from them.

Ah, not good.

"But if I may ask, why are you so interested in my mark?"

…

They were silent.

Shit. He screwed up.

"… You always had it on your neck- a sign of how you were created, from what you told me in the past," they said, looking more and more suspicious of him. "I remember you telling me that it was a mark of imperfection: that you were created by human hands, but you weren't bothered by it."

They leaned forward, their eye glaring at the latter now.

"The real Albedo would have no shame on revealing his star to anyone, and especially to me. So, I ask you this. Who are you?"

And after that… All went still.

Dorian's face become cold, and his body rigid. After he finally stood up, he turned to look at the observer in the eye, with little emotion. The expression was almost unsettling, as if he was about to do something terrible to them.

And in the silence… The alchemist finally spoke.

"My actual name is Dorian."

The observer's eye narrowed as he introduced himself.

"And yes… I hid my star because I am not the real Albedo."

Navina was quiet as he answered their question, standing up to face him more properly. Though, they didn't dare raise their weapon against him just yet.

They wanted to know where Albedo was. And they knew he had the answer to that.

"… Where is Albedo, Dorian?"

"Albedo is dead."

The reply made them quiet. The way he replied so nonchalantly had them pause, their lips pursed together while noticing the way he eyed the latter out of caution. In that regard, he looked… Prepared- almost like he was defending himself should Navina attacked him.

And yet, their next reply caught him by surprise.

"I suppose us fighting will be pointless, then," Navina answered, crossing their arms as they eyed Dorian. Although they did nothing to try and harm him, he could tell they were cautious of his next move.

It made him smile.

"Considering Albedo is dead and you took his place."

He chuckled at their reply, speaking, "I would prefer to call it an… Inheritance of a role rather than taking it, observer."

He raised a hand as he spoke about it, eyes glinting in the light as he simply continued- his tone much more confident than before.

"I suppose that you had a hunch about this, and I respect your ability to figure it out without harming me."

Although he said such a thing to praise them, the pinkette seem more tense than before as they sat down, crossing their arms whilst watching him.

"I suppose that's a more positive way to look at things," Navina muttered, closing their eye for a moment to put together the thoughts they wish to tell him.

"It wasn't that hard to figure it out, though. After all, it's my job as an observer… And as an informant of this world."

…

Dorian looked over at Navina as they stopped speaking, looking… Confused.

"Informant of this world?" he repeated, which made the pinkette nod.

"Yes. I'm the informant of this world- the one that the Heavenly Principles assigned by force."
