#because if Philip and Caleb had switched places

Oh my god okay so we all remember this part of Hollow Mind, right?
Tumblr media
This obviously means that the rest of the grimwalkers, while maybe sharing traits with Caleb, didn’t look as identical to him as Hunter does.
Now I’m no biologist but I have a basic understanding of punnet squares. Our phenotypes are more or less randomly selected during fertilization and they’re passed from parents to kid. And if you have the same parents as your siblings, then you’re more likely to look like them or share traits with them. The only reason you have different traits is because there are so many to choose from and hey, you have brown hair and your sibling has blonde. That’s just how it turned out but you still carry the genes for blonde hair (not a perfect example but we’re also talking about a magical world so whatever)
What if one day Belos was making a new grimwalker. It’s no big deal; He’s done this about a dozen times now. Every single one is looking less and less like him, and Belos is getting increasingly frustrated. He keeps them around because, well, Caleb only had 206 bones and he can only make so many grimwalkers. Might as well manipulate the ones you have, right?
Belos completes the ritual and he stands at the head of the grave as the grimwalker sits up straight from the dirt.
And it’s the striking image of teenage Philip.
He kills that one quickly and doesn’t make another for a while. (Tags)

A copilation of fanart I did for an Au that @emerald-entrails-hunter @talisman975 and I have in the super wittebane bros discord server.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Au is basically what if Luz and the wittebane brothers switch places and over the last 2 weeks we have been fleshing out with massive brainrot moments.
So the basic storyline goes something like this: Luz is the Empress of the boiling isles, named "Empress Luzura" and she HATES the human realm. Mostly because she was accused of witchcraft and was treated horribly due to her unusual traits. After some angsty events *cough *cough on a visit to the human realm a witch hunter kill amity she swore hatred to human kind.
The wittebane brothers, since they are playing Luz roll, came to the boiling isles in modern times. As in canon Philip is not very fond in witch kind, Caleb in the other hand is sparkling. For he the boiling isles is his perfect chance to finally be free a little, far from the strict rules of the christian boarding school their parents put them into.
After Luzura discovers caleb true feelings towards the demon realm she accept him and constantly tries to makes Caleb to forget about human kind.
Meanwhile Philip....he, Luzura lost hopes in him very quickly and unconsciously tries to make him worse.
Anywayss! After SOME other events the knife fight happen for the same reasons as canon. And Empress Luzura decided to broadcasting it with the purpose of showing the boiling isles "true nature of human kind" At this point Caleb and grimwalker Amity already discovered Luzura dark plans to conquer/ eradicate the human world. So the knife fight was the perfect opportunity to get rid of caleb and convince the boiling isles that humans are evil.
Bonus info+
Caleb survive but because he now knows about Luzura plans he had to hide. The one who is in real bad problems is Philip. You see, thanks to Empress Luzura reight the boiling isles are very wary about humans kind. In fact the wittebane brothers took a hot second to gain a slide of the boiling isles trust until....the knife fight.
That confirms the boiling isles fears and now everyone is playing hunt the human, especially wittewife. The only one, aside Luz, who knows Caleb is still alive but WANT philip's head more than anyone
Hahah sorry for the long post

Philip and Caleb Body Swap Headcanons
Original headcanons
Ao3 version
Philip (Caleb) Wittebane:
• When Caleb woke up, he was beyond shocked to find himself in his brother's body. But nothing shocked him more than the reeking scent that entered his nostrils once he got a whiff of the blue coat that once belonged to him. The "brunette's" face soon scrunched up by the foul stench as he quickly rushed out of his brother's cave and tried to find the nearest non-boiling lake to hop into. "Philip" was in dire need of a bath as soon as possible.
• Whenever Caleb thinks of ways to fix the body swap predicament he's in, he can't help but twirl Philip's mustache and stroke his beard.
• Caleb gives Philip's smile muscles a much needed workout.
• Despite his efforts to avoid reading Philip's diary upon discovering it, Caleb nonetheless does so. Seeing all the Jesus Christ fan art and self-insert biblical stories causes him to giggle.
• The witches and palisman that Philip has encountered in the past are surprised by the sudden kindness that "he" shows toward them.
• Caleb feels absolutely awful when he almost shifts into a full monster and has no other choice but to crack open the palisman he had recently befriended and has to absorb its essence to remain human. As a result of this, he's now more determined to switch back to his original body.
Caleb (Philip) Wittebane:
• As he happily cuddled up to something soft and warm, Philip breathed out a soft sigh. The scent of whatever he was snuggling up against was lovely, reminiscent of a summer's day. When brown eyes gently begin to open and Philip finds himself holding a sleeping Evelyn in his arms, he immediately shoves her off the bed and quickly runs out of the bedroom with his arms flailing as he lets out a panicked scream. It took him some time to finally stop shuddering because of the experience. It was truly terrifying.
• Both Evelyn and Flapjack wonder why "Caleb" seems not like himself today. From the moment he woke up, he's been acting strangely cold toward them and narrating to himself for no apparent reason.
• When Philip takes a stroll through the bustling Bonesborough marketplace by himself, the witches and demons who usually smile and wave at Caleb do so at him, but he only frowns at their friendliness. 'How annoying,' he thought to himself. When some try to make conversation with him, he ignores them and rudely walks away. As if what they had to say was important.
• Philip's tongue and behavior actually earns him a permanent ban from a few places.
• He hates that he's having a hard time getting any writing done thanks to Caleb's left-handedness.
• Philip has to lie low to avoid the anger of the Fang Brothers, who were relentlessly looking all over town for him. They wanted to pummel Philip's face into the ground for the insults he hurled at them about their mother at the town tarvern. 'Alright, time to go find Caleb,' he told himself as he sneaked out of town and into the direction of the forest. He had a body situation that he needed to sort out with his brother, but first, he had to find him.

hm. somebody else has probably already noticed this but i just did and it's making me feel Emotions™. the golden guard shown in belos's memory of marking a few villagers with coven sigils only to promptly drain them did not get drained as well. jumpcut to the present day where hunter gets drained on the day of unity because he's had a coven sigil for who-knows-how-long already.
belos's reaction to hunter freaking out and switching sides is a "hm. a shame. oh well he's disposable anyway, and it's not like i didn't really suspect this."
conclusion: at some point, probably after a few iterations of grimwalkers, belos goes "yeah ok caleb betraying me in favor of witchcraft is apparently an intrinsic part of his character >:/ guess i'll drain him too when the time comes."
extrapolation: hunter was never meant to live past the day of unity in the first place, and (judging by philip's downright yandere obsession with his brother (THERE, I SAID IT)) he was probably going to be replaced after the mass murder of the people of the boiling isles. maybe this theoretical grimwalker would never even be told (by philip) about the existence of witchcraft in the first place, since as far as belos would be concerned, it would no longer exist and wouldn't deserve to be remembered. i'd bet money that belos expected to be able to go back to the human realm and live out the rest of his days in peace, though maybe isolation once a century or two went by.
honestly this thought process makes me want to write something specifically to kick belos in the face and also the balls

Theory: Belos makes no sense and many others.
SHORT VERSION :
1 Some of Philip's dialogues have nothing to do with the character he is speaking with so he speaks to who knows what.
2 Hunter till now was an UNFINISHED grimwalker and it was his growing of-age story we got now where he stood up against his abuser.
3 Hunter and all the other unfinished Grimwalkers are made so because Philip makes them younger than their ortet in hopes they will not develop the same.
4 We still have no idea what really happened between Philip and Caleb.
5 The story about the brothers is a red Hearing.
6 Orphaned brothers don't have to be blood-related.
7 Caleb was not a good big brother (Personal opinion)
8 Belos might be seeing ghosts.
"This is for the good of your souls, you'll thank me later."
Tumblr media
Whos souls is he even talking about at this point? It for sure is not Luz because he doesn't seem to care of her, he surely doesn't care of the other Witch children, he doesn't know Camilla and Hunter to him seems to be Caleb.
Tumblr media
He called someone Evelynn? (I know it is implied to be Caleb's wife.)
But in here he makes no sense calling her out.
Philip wanted to leave the demon realm now he is going back.
This new special gave us NOTHING about him that we didn't already know, which to me means...they are missing a detail that will shift the entire POV.
Tumblr media
When the story about the brother was told the last thing they said was. "Sounds like big bro got a hot witch girlfriend, and little bro got upset."
Why would you mock such an important plotline like this?
THAT if it is mocking but what if it is in fact a red herring? And once we get a single missing detail all will be in a whole new context so the creators couldn't have said it now because after hearing that all would have ended.
I mentioned in the past almost everything Philip says makes no sense in context with the others, even in this episode he called Hunter Caleb and no one bet an eye to correct him not even Luz called it out." HE IS HUNTER." Or something similar to this.
He even thanked Luz for getting a chance to make things right with this Grimwalker which he considered a failure.
So here are my crazy theories.
Hunter is an unfinished grimwalker and this was his coming of age.
Tumblr media
In the book it's shown that Philip wanted a child version, I think a finished grimwalker is supposed to have its own eye color not pink, the pink eyes are a grimwalker that is still in process of being finished.
Tumblr media
Because here Philip didn't make their eyes pink. So Philip was recreating a younger version of Caleb.
Caleb died when they had his fight and he "betrayed" Philip. So Philip made a Grimwalker that was younger than Caleb before he got to betray him... which means now Hunter is the age Caleb was when he got killed probably or around it.
Now I have to say this might sound crazy but ... or Philip went insane in the last episode and talks puritan nonsense OR he actually sees souls/ghosts to some capacity. We have seen that Palismans have souls, we have seen Eda and Luz and King switch bodies so a concept of the soul exists, and we have seen the forests in Willow's mind same in Philip's mind so souls are real.
I believe Philip creates a grimwalker that is unfinished because it's not the proper age their ortet was in the hopes it will change the outcome of the decision their brother made, and if it's a perfect outcome it can be fit for his brother.
Philip should have died in this special but he didn't why ? Because we don't have his full story yet, we barely have any real story from HIM. All we know was told to us from others not him.
But even so he has so many mysteries yet it's impossible to look away because everytime he speaks with someone he is 1 manipulating them or 2 making no sense but the character try to make sense out of what he speaks.... so at this point I can even believe he literally sees the ghost of his brother.
Even so, Caleb was NOT a good brother. He brought his smaller sibling to a place they didn't fit in and were miserable, they tried to fit in, Philip did his best to fit in, to point of obsession and after Caleb betrayed all he stood for and walkedin and out from the demon realm, he had his escapism and Philip didn't So Philip put my trust in this figure he respected and did what they say to find out all this time they didn't believe in it and had safe heaven for themselves? with the thing, they said Philip should hate? Caleb.... really needs some explanations or else he was a bad brother.
Is the Journal even entirely Philip's? I doubt. I think it's an endited mess where Caleb started it they continued together and then Philip edited Caleb out.
For sure the ending will involve time travel to find out the truth.
I think when we will get Philip's POV we will have to rewatch the entire series with different eyes.

Okay so!! I just finished season two of the Owl House and watched Thanks to Them like. two days ago. So I have no idea if this has been said or not, I have not a clue what the current fanon is, I just had a Thought and wanted to share. This might be an ice cold take. I have no idea.
Anyways here's my Theory On Flapjack (spoilers for the whole series pretty much)
I think Flapjack was originally Caleb Wittebane's palisman.
First piece of evidence: The first time we meet Flapjack, he's living with the Bat Queen, which implies that he had a witch at some point, but something happened and he had to go live with her instead. The scar over his eye suggests that whatever happened was traumatic, at least for Flapjack, though quite possibly to his witch, as well. When he decides he wants to be Hunter's palisman, the Bat Queen implies that it's been a long time since Flapjack chose to go with anyone.
Tumblr media
(S2:E6 Hunting Palismen, 19:20)
We don’t know how long palismen live, but the Bat queen herself has been alive for thousands of years. Hundreds of years (say, the time between Caleb being alive and Hunter being alive) isn’t out of the question.
Tumblr media
(S1:E10 Escape of the Palisman, 19:23)
Based on earlier lines in the Hunting Palismen episode - e.g. "What a wonderful idea" - we can assume that the picking of palismen hasn't happened before, at least not in this way, so whoever had Flapjack last was probably the one to carve him. It's suggested in Thanks to Them that Caleb was learning to do magic, like Luz (or at least wanted to), so it doesn't seem like much of a stretch to suggest he might have carved a palisman.
Second piece of evidence: Hunter is a grimwalker clone of Caleb, or however the verbage works, but Hunter doesn't know that for a good portion of the show. This is important because when he goes undercover at Hexside, he uses Caleb as his fake name. This is, crucially, not Hunter’s idea. He scrambles for an answer when Willow and Gus ask for his name, and Flapjack is the one to suggest the name Caleb.
Tumblr media
(S2:E13 Any Sport in a Storm, 7:58)
Third piece of evidence: In the episode King’s Tide, during the final confrontation, Belos nearly attacks Hunter, but stops, shifting his face back to human and guilt tripping this poor kid yet again. Then he sees Flapjack and immediately goes back on the offensive - it’s made very clear, Flapjack is the one causing this switch, not anything Hunter does or says.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(S2:E21 King’s Tide, 17:05)
It’s interesting that the subtitles say “kill him” there. That’s a bit of an odd phrasing when Belos is acting alone. Also, the intonation is strange for it to be “kill him” - I hear it as “Caleb.”
Fourth piece of evidence: This screenshot from Thanks to Them, during the story of how Philip and Caleb disappeared. The accompanying line is “[The witch] dazzled [Caleb] with magic and visions of a strange yet beautiful place.”
Tumblr media
(S3:E1 Thanks to Them, 31:53)
Fifth piece of evidence: Also from Thanks to Them, Flapjack knows things he would have no reason to know. He knows there is something hidden in that house, in the human realm, where he has in theory never been before. It’s unclear if he knows exactly what is hidden there, but he is the one who leads them to the rebus map, which is implied to have been Caleb’s means of traveling back and forth between realms.
Tumblr media
(S3:E1 Thanks to Them, 8:48)
And finally: This has been pinging around in my brain since I first learned Flapjack’s name. “Flapjack” is not a Boiling Isles word. In fact, I can’t think of a time where pancakes were referenced at all (I could be wrong about that but nothing comes to mind).
In fact, Hunter comments on the name the first time he hears it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(S2:E9 Eclipse Lake, 21:38)
Flapjack is an old-timey human word. Very interesting name for a palisman on the Boiling Isles. Unless, of course, he wasn’t named by a witch.
These have been my extensive thoughts on Flapjack. Canon has hurt me so I turn to writing essays on obscure details. Have a good night
