My Issue with The Infamous Louis Panel
Tumblr media
I think y’all know exactly what I’m talking about so let me just dive into it.
Aside from Louis being a total hypocrite and being involved with the very livestock business HE came from, this panel had the potential to completely change Louis’ character and (possibly) his influence on the Beastars plot but this panel is NEVER mentioned again. You could cut it from the entire plot and it literally wouldn’t impact the story whatsoever.
So next to it making Louis no better than the carnivores that sold him as livestock (or pretty much exactly like them!), it’s probably the most uselessness panel in the entire manga! (Or one of the top ten worst plot points from the story, whatever you wanna call it)
That all being said, here’s how I approach it in my fanfics…Completely ignore it! I acknowledge and include Louis being involved in and witnessing some illegal stuff while boss of the Shishigumi, but just the drug and meat dealing/eating and cannibalism on his part.
Now, here’s what I think SHOULD have happened with this panel:
Have an entire chapter dedicated to it and it showing Louis’ shock and horror that the livestock business is somehow still active, demand the immediate release of the poor kids in it, and then use his status as the Shishigumi’s boss to find out how he ended up being sold as livestock and where his birth parents are.
OR! This but Louis has time to really think about it and weigh his options: Chose his own survival and truly become a predator animal, just like carnivores or try to save those children and risk his own life in doing so (I was convinced the Shishigumi would kill him if he attempted something like that when I first read the manga and I could see a similar situation happening here too-albeit maybe it would have been whoever runs the livestock trade or it’s customers).
Side thought: If Louis were forced into it (meaning he didn’t want to be part of the livestock trade and tried to have it shit down but was told he could be killed/eaten if he didn’t), he could have had a total identity crisis and feeling immense guilt and (possibly) a real bonding moment where members of the Shishigumi try to comfort him and reveal that this is what life in the Black Market is truly like: That everyone is prey that can be killed and eaten at any time. A place to kill or be killed.
In either scenario, Louis would be forced to re-think his entire belief system and previous convictions about what it means to be predator and prey animals and which side he’s on. This could have also been a chance for him to truly come to terms with his past and find closure for what had happened to him, which arguably could have been just as impactful (if not more so) than Louis meeting Ibuki and the Shishigumi.
TLDR: That panel of Louis selling kids as livestock is completely useless and is a terrible missed opportunity for character growth and serious angst.

Ibuki's dead in Beastars is so impactful for plenty of reasons literally top 10 moments but I think people who question why he had to die forget that the Shishigumi is a fucking mafia.
"You can only leave in a plastic bag" is a common mafia phrase for a reason. Louis simply couldn't leave the Shishigumi alive, Ibuki's dead is a sacrifice to grant him that freedom.
Think about it, Free would be the only one who knows Louis is alive by that point, and he makes a specific mention that Louis should never go back to the Black Alley Market or else Ibuki would have "died for nothing". It's a setup, fake that he ate the Boss and Free killed him afterwards, that way Louis can keep up with his life and the Shishigumi's name wouldn't be tainted/they wouldn't be obligated to catch him.

Can I get some headcanons with Free dating someone? I am WEAK
I might have rambled a bit on this one haha, feel free to resend the ask if you wanted something else!
— Psychic
.
.
.
Things to Note
the name should be an indicator, but Free enjoys his freedom— he’ll be resistant to anything that restricts it.
the Shishigumi comes first; even if Free is laidback, he's still part of the gang’s inner circle.
.
.
.
Meeting Free
surprisingly enough, your relationship with Free did not begin as anything sexual.
It doesn't even begin as a friendship — it's difficult to describe a situation wherein you find a random lion in your house.
You think he was trying to rob you.
You fainted, of course.
When you awoke, you found yourself on the floor with a nasty ache in your back and a note nearby.
The words were scribbled hastily in print; “WILL VISIT AGAIN SOON”.
You filed a police report, but nothing came of it— other an officer’s promise that the station would keep an eye out for “any suspicious characters”.
The police station is blind, you concluded. Reason being, the lion returned exactly a week later.
Now, Free (as you’ve learnt is his name) just waltzes in and makes himself at home.
No matter how often you changed the locks or fortified the windows, Free found a way in.
It was almost like a game for the feline— you gave up on trying to keep him out.
Free had a nasty habit of not taking off his dirty ass shoes before he put his feet up on your white couch.
As your relationship progressed, he became more mindful of his behaviour— though, it took him a while to remember not to put his shoes all over your furniture.
.
.
.
Gifts
you grew used to the lion visiting you randomly. Sometimes, Free did not visit you empty handed.
Free gave you an expensive phone— albeit one with a cracked screen, a watch that smelled like seawater and a couch with red polka-dots to replace the one he dirtied with the grime at the bottom of his shoe.
It took you ten minutes of cleaning your “brand-new” sofa to realise that the red spots were not part of the original design.
It was definitely best not to ask Free where exactly he sourced his gifts from.
You eventually began to feel a bit poorly about receiving things from him all the time.
The first time you presented Free with a gift, he shut down.
.
.
During his visits, Free liked to make use of your bathroom. He always set his suit, tie and shoes one side while he cleaned himself (and used up all your hot water in the process).
It was inevitable that you would notice the wrinkles, and the scuff marks.
You couldn't have something so unkempt in your house. It wasn't an issue for you to do a quick spot of ironing.
Even the shoes could be made presentable— you just had to wipe them off and apply a bit of black polish.
When Free realised what you had done, he seemed to be speechless. Just when you expected to hear a “Thank you Y/N”, God quickly brought you back to reality.
“You're going to do this sort of thing from now on?” He held the suit jacket up by its sleeves, as if searching for the wrinkles he knew were no longer present.
You shrugged. “If you keep your shoes off my couch, then sure,”
.
.
You thought that your gift would encourage him to visit more often, but for a whole month, Free did not visit you.
You wondered if the police had finally caught the bastard— but, after a month, he returned as if nothing had ever happened.
After that, he no longer showered at your place.
.
.
.
Free’s Thoughts & Motivations
this ‘relationship’ was the longest one Free had ever been in.
The lion who bathed in the revelry of the Black Market now looked forward not just to bloodshed, but to movie marathons and hearing you bitch about your neighbours.
The fear of this casualty metamorphosing into something serious . . . something permanent, compelled Free to leave you alone for a while to collect his thoughts.
He only visited you because your home was a convenient place to rest before returning to the Mansion.
(The night you met him, he'd broken in to avoid a police patrol in the area.)
The presents were bribes to keep you complacent.
(Though . . . maybe he felt a bit bad about ruining your sofa.)
As much as your gesture touched him, Free wanted nothing in return.
Your gift was proof that you held some kind of affection for him.
Free returned to the Mansion feeling quite warm inside that day, but he didn't dare shower at your place again.
The affection that you held for him, no matter how miniscule, was addictive.
.
.
.
Dating
The others didn't pay much attention to it when Free casually mentioned that he had a “friend" outside of the Black Market.
The inner circle grew suspicious when he refused to elaborate further.
.
.
“It's time that we address the elephant in the room.” Dolph gave a pointed look at the only empty chair in the room.
Free’s chair.
The others around the table nodded once in solemn agreement. Then, someone raised their hand.
Dolph’s expression seemed to soften the smallest amount. “Yes, Agata?”
“Who’s going to kill him if we find out he’s planning to leave the gang? I would volunteer but my shoulder's still healing from that last gang war—”
Before the scar-faced lion could reply, Ibuki interjected. “This is Free we are discussing— he would not betray the Shishigumi in such a manner. There's no need to discuss things like that,”
He tapped a claw against the table, “In any case, we will get to the bottom of this. Tonight.”
.
.
.
A Cause For Concern
you thought that you were being paranoid.
You hoped that you weren't really being followed.
There was no mistaking it.
Everywhere you went, everytime you went outside, it was there.
A singular black car.
.
.
“Eh? What are you panicking about?” You heard Free's voice, but you didn't respond. You tossed your car keys, and they landed on the kitchen table.
You sped over to the windows. With one, great motion, you drew them, only stopping when the entire house was draped in darkness.
“There’s this black car . . . It’s been tailing me all weekend,” Though your voice was calm, your hands were shaking as you made your way back to the couch.
Free grew thoughtful, but only for the briefest of moments. He waved dismissively, and lapped one leg over the other, pulling you onto his lap with his free arm.
“Don’t worry about it. Just the Shishigumi being the Shishigumi. They won't break in or anything,”
Silence hung in the air only for half a minute, before Free added, “Probably won't, anyways,”
But, you are more focused on the s-word, rather than on what they may or may not do to your home.
“Shishigumi . . .?” The word was foreign on your tongue, but it was not entirely unfamiliar.
You didn't move off of his lap, but you gently pried off the hands that held your waist in place.
If you didn't know better, you would have sworn that Free looked just a bit . . . hurt by your actions. Still, he got the message and his hands remained at either side of himself.
You were grateful for that much.
“I didn't stutter,” The lion tsked. His hand slid over his mane. He was antsy about something, thag much you knew.
When Free next spoke, his voice was low. His chin rest atop your head, and you could easily feel the calming vibration of his throat.
“It doesn't bother you, right?”
A sigh escaped your lips. You pinched your nose. You internally debated strangling him for daring to ask something with such an obvious answer.
Of course you would mind! You felt as if you had always known Free was part of some illegal operation— but, it had never crossed your mind to assume the lion was in an actual gang!
No . . . that was a lie.
The thought had crossed your mind. You willed the thought to go away everytime it reared its ugly head.
“No, I don't mind, Free. I don't mind at all.”
.
.
.
Going Steady
Free talked things out with his colleagues— that's what he told you, at least.
The ominous black vehicle that stalked your every move disappeared just as quickly as it had appeared.
Life went back to normal, though, the visitor's list expanded by eight more lions.
Ibuki and Dolph were infrequent visitors— if they stopped by, then you knew it was on important business.
Agata often fetched your groceries, so you saw him often.
Miguel, Dope and Jinma visited infrequently, but were not as rare to see as Ibuki and Dolph.
Hino, like Agata, was a regular. He mostly crashed in your guest room— apparently, it was easier to fall asleep at your place.
Once every few months, Sabu would deliver your groceries instead of Agata. He seemed nice enough, but you found him to be intimidating as hell.
For better or for worse, Free begun spending nights at your house.
It would be wrong to call him a freeloader, though.
.
.
“There's ten grand in here . . .” You murmured to yourself. You turned the envelope over in your hands. Your name was written on the side, in Free's chickenscratch penmanship.
But, there was also a note; “10K. RENT MONEY FOR Y/N.”

Now We Know About the Facts Of Lougosi And How Most Fans Find It As Endgame
Trivia
Legosi and Louis are both canonically physically attracted to each other. They are the reason they realize their carnivore/herbivore fetish. In Chapter 91, Louis realizes his carnivore fetish in the car with Ibuki, but states that he thinks it all began with Legoshi. His words are "Because their bodies are strong, they have a profound sense of camaraderie. Because they hunger for meat, they always look like they're suffering somehow...why did it take me so long to realize this? I like carnivores. I think I have for a long time now, all because of that idiotic underclassman (Legosi)." In Chapter 114, Legosi realizes his herbivore fetish when admiring Louis. His words are "I look at his face and get the usual thought. Why are herbivores such beautiful life forms?"
It's revealed in one of the extras in the manga (Unpacking Legoshi's Belongings) that Legosi started carrying a nail file in his backpack after Louis drew attention to his hands [2].
In an omake surrounding Chapter 76, Itagaki makes a joke about Louis and Legoshi kissing/being intimate. The omake shows two girls talking to each other. One says, "I saw two guys hugging on the balcony today" (referring to Louis and Legoshi hugging on the balcony in Chapter 76). The other goes, "did you close the curtain for them?"
In the last panel of Chapter 77, the narration for Louis and Legosi's hug state that "even with their environments changed, they never lost their trust in each other. Only the moon sees them now.""The moon is beautiful" (tsuki ga kirei desu ne) is a euphemism for "I love you" in Japan.
Louis states that his leg hurts whenever something bad happens to Legosi. This was true for when Legosi got hurt fighting the drug cartel, and for when Legosi was shot by Melon. This is the only indication of anything supernatural in Beastars,
Louis can be seen blushing and fanning himself in one panel of Chapter 88, in the scene where Legosi is cross-dressed in heels and makeup.
In multiple panels of Chapter 96, the composition of the scenes compares Legosi's relationship with Louis to Riz's relationship with Tem. This is likely due to the fact that Legosi and Louis represents a good carnivore-herbivore relationship, unlike Riz and Tem. However, it is an interesting comparison because Riz's feelings toward Tem were heavily hinted to be romantic.Riz says in the scene, "it's the only thing...my feelings for him (Tem) are much stronger than your feelings for Louis-Senpai. Because he (Tem) never felt the same for me."
In Chapter 143, Louis can be seen blushing when he is with Legosi and the Shishigumi.Louis does not blush during his kiss with Juno and during his date with her in Chapter 194.
Legosi is the only character in the series (only Oguma, Kyuu, and San, who were part of Louis' past, as well as Bill who found out on his own and Ibuki) who knows about Louis being sold as meat in the black market in childhood.
Louis is the only character in the series who knows about Legosi's dreams of becoming an insectarium keeper (according to Legosi, Chapter 158).
Louis is the only character other than Jack and Yahya who knows Legoshi's grandfather.
Legosi is the only character in the series who has made Louis laugh on-screen, and is also the first and only character to see him cry. This occurs in Chapter 88, when Louis laughs at Legosi's cross dressing. The latter occurs in Chapter 95, when Legoshi is about to battle Riz.This excludes Louis' hysterical laughter when asking the Shishigumi to eat him, as it was laughter caused by insanity, not amusement.
The style in which Itagaki draws panels draws certain scenes between Legosi and Louis (light grey airbrush with flecks and hazy overlays) is the same style she uses for scenes between Riz and Tem and scenes between Legoshi and Haru.
The music that plays for Legoshi and Louis' play scene is the same that plays in scenes between Legoshi and Haru. The music is/is a rendition of "Beastars classical OST" by Satoru Kosaki.
Louis and Legoshi has appeared alongside each other in more promotional artwork than any two characters (Legoshi and Haru included).
Both Louis' and Legosi's sexuality is hard to categorize: Louis states he has grown to be exclusively attracted to carnivores (first mentioned in Chapter 91, confirmed in Chapter 143 as he vomits trying to have sex with a female red deer). When Oguma asks Louis whether he likes women in chapter 157, Louis does not answer. Similarly, Legosi is exclusively attracted to herbivores - mentioned and confirmed in chapter 114. Legosi also admits Pina (a male herbivore) to be attractive in chapter 66. Both are confirmed to have a carnivore/herbivore fetish.
While the author's original idea was to make Legoharu an endgame, there are many hints for a quite possible, future romantic relationship between Legosi and Louis after all - or at least for Lougosi being a semi-canon ship in a spin-off. It for sure has a big potential for eventually becoming more than just a fanon pairing. A lot of the Beastars fans are also questioning Louis's sexuality - especially after the chapter 157 in manga - and think he might be gay or bisexual. One thing's for sure - Paru Itagaki is teasing Legosi and Louis's relationship quite a lot and it's hard to say, if it's only ship teasing for the Lougosi shippers content, queerbaiting, or is she considering them really being together at some point. Additionally, we from interviews that Paru Itagaki does not outline all scenes beforehand (such as the LegoHaru scene in the love hotel), creating more potential for Lougosi in the future.
I knew there had to be a reason why so many fell for this ship early on, there are key facts explaining it

Hello and welcome to my final post! Here I’ll be talking about my Top 10 Favourite anime EDs. I was more excited to make this list than the OP and OST combined, and I’ll be a lot more emotional for this list. I think it’s because I know exactly what EDs I’m listing and what place I would give them that gives me that excitement. As for the OP list, there will be spoilers ahead, so skip to avoid if you don’t wish to see any. Enjoy!
I made all the gifs in this post!
Honourable Mentions for EDs that didn’t make the cut (extra!) :
Attack on Titan - S2 ED3, S4 ED7
“Yuugure no Tori”, “Akuma no Ko”
Carole and Tuesday - S1 ED1
“Hold Me Now”
Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood - S4 ED4
“Scandal”
Inuyasha - S1 ED2
“Fukai Mori”
The Seven Deadly Sins - S1 ED
“7 -seven-”
Blood Blockade Battlefront - S1 ED1
“Sugar Song to Bitter Step”
Now onto the chosen ones!
10. Beastars - Yasashii Suisei
My god, they took the budget for the second season OP and gave it all to the ED. What an amazing ED it is. The animation is stunning, and I love its sketchy, watercolour style, making it one of the more unique EDs on the list. Yoasobi’s here to claim her stake on both the OP and ED, and she more than delivers for both. It’s such a heartbreaking ED as well, foreshadowing the kind of monster Louis forces himself to become, and Ibuki watching as his young master begins to lose himself. We see him also coming face to face with his carnivorous biology, unable to change anything about his nature or DNA. It also foreshadows his death! Wow! Thanks for making me want to die! Father figure Ibuki rest in peace my king.
Tumblr media
9. Dr. Stone - Voice?
WOW!!!! I LOVE IT WHEN ANIME CHARACTERS RUN!!!! The song is an absolute bop, I was tempted to skip this ED when I was watching but I was curious to listen to the song, so I stuck around and I’m glad I did! It was stuck in my head for ages. This definitely isn’t the most impressive ED on here but I love how it foreshadows Senku running with his flash grenade to blind Homura, what a thrill!
Tumblr media
8. My Hero Academia - Datte Atashi no Hiro
Yeah!!!! LiSA!!!! The iconic fantasy AU ED!!!! This ED unleashed so many fanfic ideas and artwork, I think they should just make another anime with the same cast in a fantasy world. I say that’s much more interesting than hero society. But enough about that, THE SONG!!! THE COLOURS!!! THE FUN AND WHIMSY!!! They just want you to enjoy this ED, and maybe go WOOOOOAAAAAAAH when you see Midoriya swinging his Ex-All Might-ibur.
Tumblr media
7. Violet Evergarden - Michishirube
Wow. The way this ED made me sob during the mother daughter letters episode. Hearing “Michishirube” being sang has me screaming and wailing. I used to skip this ED but after that episode, I made it compulsory to listen to it. I don’t have much to say, because I’m listening to the ED while writing this, and if I continue I’m going to be unable to do anything else for crying too hard.
Tumblr media
6. Ouran High School Host Club - Shissou
[dies] WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!! AS I HAVE SAID BEFORE THAT GUITAR RIFF IS RELIGIOUS. YES YOU DON’T GET TO HEAR IT IN THE ED BUT GO AHEAD AND LISTEN TO THE FULL SONG!!! I like this song over the OP, I don’t give a shit about your “kiss kiss fall in love” this is the true best song. This song is just such a nostalgic song, it’s the perfect song to run to. Or chase a certain blond anime boy to…. Get up and dance to it when you hear it! I can’t say I like the artwork in the background but who cares when you can just dance around or sing along without paying attention. The Japanese and the English are both phenomenal in their own way, but don’t get me started on “Just as long as you move you’ll be okay!”. I will throw up and cry.
Tumblr media
5. My Hero Academia - Heroes
ANIME! BOY! RUNNING!!!! And another MHA ED! Imma say it: I prefer all the MHA EDs to the OPs. I love them so much!! But let’s talk about this ED. This song has that nostalgic, emotional thing going for it already and MHA isn’t even finished yet. Knowing how far Midoriya has come, and that once obtaining his dream seemed as impossible as reaching a star, I want to scream and cry knowing that his dream is so close now. I love when he wipes away his tears and at the very end we see the beach that he cleaned gleaming in the morning sun. The song itself is just so catchy and I can’t think of a better ED for the show than this.
Tumblr media
4. Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood - Uso
Haha, I made a post about this song before! I was screaming over the lyrics! BOKURA SAYONARA!!! The first time I saw the very simplistic, childlike animation I was shocked. Hang on, why is Studio Bones slacking? Where’s my sexy sakuga ED? Then you get to the end and see why it’s so simple because it’s literally drawn by child Ed and Alphonse. Hear that? That’s the sound of my heart crumbling to dust. Love this song to bits, and I love singing along whenever I hear it come on, amazing first ED for FMAB.
Tumblr media
3. Hunter X Hunter - Hyori Ittai
I want you to look me in the eyes and tell me that this isn’t the most gorgeous ED you’ve ever witnessed. You get to see the original four standing in that anime sub space that all other anime characters can be found in. Then you get to see the most gorgeous celestial events reflected in the water as time passes by impossibly fast, our main four hardly bothered. Then the sun rises once again, and Leorio looks back at us — or Kurapika maybe. We then are rewarded with one final shot of the four of them at the start of their journey, caught in a picture framed on Leorio’s wall. Enough to have me choking back a sob. Absolutely devastating Thinking harder about the OP, you can see Gon is further ahead than Killua and Leorio who seem to be at an almost equal distance. Kurapika, who is set further back than them, shows how much distance has grown between the group that was as close as family at one point. Quite literally, both Killua and Leorio are unable to reach Gon or Kurapika. Kurapika being behind the group, suggests he is stuck in his past, incapable of moving forward to rejoin them. Gon being further ahead shows how he has fixated on his future - trying to reach his father and obtain all the power that he will ever have in his life.
Tumblr media
2. Toilet Bound Hanako-kun - Tiny Lights
As I said before in my Top 10 OSTs list, I would put on a piano rendition of this song and sob uncontrollably in my maths class. I basically Pavlov dog trained myself to cry on command when it hits a certain point. This song kills me with its symbolism. Having read part of the manga, knowing that Nene is so close to death, toeing the line between the shore of the living and dead breaks my heart. When Mitsuba died and his and Kou’s paths crossed in the ED, leaving only a camera behind, I simply shattered into fragments. Don’t get me started on when Hanako fails to capture fish-ified Nene, managing to rescue her while falling deeper into the water. Absolutely devastating. This song is so beautiful and so emotional, it really is a thing of wonder in it’s simplicity. It would have easily been in first place, but there was always one ED that was going to take that spot. Excuse me while I sob dramatically for the next hour.
Tumblr media
1. Hunter x Hunter - Hyori Ittai
Wow, the same ED in the same tier list? Yes! This. This is a masterpiece. I have added at least 500 views to Yuzu’s YouTube video. Go listen to this song so we can give it the views it deserves. I couldn’t put the second half of the whole song before the first half, the first half of the ED was what hooked me in the first place. This is my all time favourite song ever. This song changed my life for the better. It erased all the problems I had at that time. Nothing comes close to this song, this is in a league that transcends this world. Mere emotions aren’t strong enough to convey what this song does to you. When I heard them sing “Hyori Ittai” for the first time and saw those Gungi pieces flip, I fell so damn hard, that I’m still falling without any signs of stopping. I would happily rewind time to go back and listen to this song for the first time.

Analyzing the hell out of the season 2 end credits of Beastars
In order to analyze this amazing end sequence, I have to say stuff about Beastars that could spoil season 2 for those of you who prefer to watch the anime instead of the mange.
So read at your own risk.
Tumblr media
The end animation is a beautiful sequence where we see Ibuki drive the car for Louis. It makes sense that he would do that since Louis is his boss and the old lion his his unofficial bodyguard and second in command. But (as I mentioned in my blog about when Legosi met Haru’s dad) it is also symbolic of how Ibuki is the one in control of the situation since he was the one who talked the other lions into making Louis their new boss. And he is also the one who gently tries to change Louis so he can make peace with himself. Also... at the end of the day, Ibuki is the lion, the big animal who could eat the scrawny deer. Ibuki is the one in the driver’s seat in every single way imaginable.
Tumblr media
Ibuki takes a glance at the deer who is lost in thought as well as being lost in general. Louis is going through a crisis as he is trying to figure out who he is, being a mobster boss is just one stage in his metamorphosis.
Tumblr media
We get the whole “lost” thing hammered in as we zoom in on Louis’ antlers that turns into a vast forest. The symbolism is so thick that I could cut it with a knife:)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We get us some more symbolism, this time a bit more subtle and clever as Ibuki is staring at a drink he is about to drink in Louis’ company. In the drink, he sees his own reflection, one that turns into a lion skull.
Tumblr media
Even though the lion skull is not THAT similar to the mask of Adler, it could be a reference to the mask Louis wear when playing Beastars answer to a Grim Reaper. This could mean that Ibuki knows that he might very well be the reason to why Louis won’t have a long life.
Tumblr media
Ibuki stares at the lion skull that is much bigger than him, as if it is a giant monster that demands of him to embrace his true nature as a killer creature and eat the deer.
Tumblr media
Ibuki bare his teeth as he slowly reaches for the skull...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But the skull vaporizes before he gets to touch it. And in it’s place stands Louis.
What does that mean?
Well, I COULD be sentimental and nice and say it means that Ibuki’s love for the fawn who is like a son to him has helped him overcome his desire to murder for sweet flesh.
...
Oooooooor... I could point out the the silhouette of Louis is wearing what looks like the Grim Reaper costume from the school play, meaning that Louis will eventually become Ibuki’s “reaper”, the reason to why he will soon die. And poor Ibuki probably knows that he eventually has to die so Louis can live a life worth living.

Feels like its been forever since I linked a fic here, but I'm not lying when I say I think this ones the best one I have or ever will produce, so I'd love it if yall gave it a read!
Its got jackgosi, lougosi, jackouis, durguno, a hint or oguma/ibuki, mostly poly, adoptive dads worrying about their dumb gay sons, and more! There's a little something for everyone, but since it's one of my fics you can guarantee there's a whole lotta fluff.
Anyways, please please please give it a read! Comments and kudos are always welcome, so don't be afraid to give me any criticism! Thanks in advance for reading!
I somehow forgot to mention the main plot point; its a mafia au in which Jack is the heir to a secret black market organization. The rest of the plot is fairly similar to the original beastars though, mostly taking place during the shishigumi arc so there will be SPOILERS

Beastars Season 2 Episode 12 Spoilers
FUCK. THIS. EPISODE.
They broke my heart and stepped on it, I’m not okay
Tumblr media
See I think it would have been better (using that word lightly, I mean why kill him in the first place but then again why should I have any favorite characters that aren’t dead or trapped in screentime limbo) if they hadn’t shown us Ibuki giving Free the gun to shoot him with BEFORE this happened.
Tumblr media
People who never read the manga could have been just as shocked and confused as Louis when asking Free about the promise he mentioned and they could have just shown it right then but ooooh well
Tumblr media
Cool, I’m not. Still crying over Ibuki.
This was a liiittle bit clunky. I know the show isn’t the greatest when it comes to pacing and all that but I also felt this episode was... empty? I can’t really explain it.

I feel ya, buddy. That was me for the first five minutes.
But I have to admit that the scene in the MV for this season’s ending sequence had more of an emotional impact. Don’t get me wrong! I’ll watch Season 2 over and over again because I like pain apparently, just wanted to point that out.
Tumblr media
On one hand I’m like ‘YEAH get him’
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But then I’m like ‘aww baby come here, let me hug you’
What a wild ride that was phew

They aren’t beastars ocs…BUT IF THEY WERE…
Where I got the names: APOLLO in some theories can possibly mean Father Lion and ADLAR is a German name for Eagle.
* Both are hybrid. (duh) Their mother was an eagle and their father was a lion.
* Apollo had an easier time growing up because he looked more like a lion until he got to be a teenager and started growing feathers around his chin.
* Adlar is named after the play. Their father was a closeted theater nerd.
* Adlar is a very good marksmen and won several contests
* Apollo wanted to be a chemist growing up but was a poor student. But he is very good at making explosives.
* Adlar was better at school but not by much
* Their father (Boro) was a shishigumi member and their mother (Hedda) was the boss’s lawyer. The two were together until their Boro’s death when the boys were six. They had kept the entirety of their relationship and theirs sons a secret.
* Ibuki was a close friend of Boro and wrote letters to Hedda until he died.
* Free totally suspected but didn’t say anything cause he ain’t a snitch
* Neither one is older then the other. They hatched from the same egg. It was literally a miracle birth. The doctor wrote a paper about it. No names were mentioned of course.
* Hedda was hardcore. That’s it.
* Hedda had moved outside the city. Boro took frequent trips out their to see his family.
* Apollo and Adlar go to the city to request to join the shishigumi.
* Their mother died a year prior and even though they were left with a generous inheritance it wouldn’t be enough to live off of forever. They could not find work easily because of being hybrids.
* It’s not like their mother hadn’t stopped with shady deals growing up so crime life does not come as a shocker to them.
That’s all I got so far. Those are my boys.

new beastars fansub just dropped (e2)
I appreciate the efforts this fansubber is going through, this ep had a lot of onscreen text (and music lyrics!) that they translated
definitely a lot has been changed from how it was in the manga, and unfortunately i dont think i’ll be able to say if thats a good or bad thing until the season is done.  all i can say is that it does feel like a natural evolution of the story, if i was an anime-only i don’t think i’d feel like anything was off.
Legosi seems to be doing more, like, actual detective work in this version.  it might be kind of a weird thing to add, but i appreciate the “Legosi busts the gym clothes thief” subplot to try to build up his ability to make quick deductions and perceptiveness.  I feel like adding in a subplot about Tem’s diary seems unnecessary, tho, since if he doesn’t even mention [the killer] by name then why even bother with it.
and then we get Louis, being a boss ass bitch.  the suit? so crisp. and not to be Like That™ again, but the way he sits up on that shopkeeper’s desk? this man is not straight.  cant wait to get more of that shit
(edit: forgot to mention that i love Gon the headmaster for being the only sane adult in this universe to say “guys, these are fucking children, they got enough shit to deal with” while everyone else at that conference is yelling “no we need a highschooler to put on a pedestal NOW”)
also, obviously the ED is absolutely gorgeous.  but i also cant help but feel like its painting Louis and Ibuki’s relationship in a romantic light, which i just dont agree with.  i’ve always gotten more of a father/son dynamic from them (although a little more complicated than that? like if being a father made you want to become a better person (wait thats supposed to be how it works, isnt it...))

The Sushigumi
I'm actually working on something else involving the Lion Mafia. That “something else” is named in such a way that it lowkey sounds like a cooking show. It made me think of an AU.
Be warned, there's puns below this point— and they aren't good puns, either. I am both very sorry, and not sorry at all for this.
Posts related to this AU will be tagged as “sushigumi au”.
— Psychic
.
.
.
Shishi-Cooking
in an alternate world, the “Sushigumi” are all chefs on a very successful cooking show, which is produced by Horns Network.
No seriously, this show is loved by everyone.
Carnivores love it because it's a rare example of a show that doesn't place their kind in a negative light.
Herbivores love it because the chefs are relatable and easy to grow attached to — despite all of the chefs being carnivorous lions.
Lions love it because the chefs subvert society's expectations of what a “real” lion is. The lion chefs aren't perfect— and, they don't have to be.
They can goof around, crack bad jokes, even make mistakes. Society often forgets that lions never asked to be called “kings” or “leaders”.
The cooking show is a gentle reminder of this.
While the show is generally light-hearted, it also touches on the different issues that the chefs have faced.
It isn't without controversy though— the chefs use meat substitutes that are made to taste “like the real thing”.
However, they also sometimes use meat from funeral homes, and et cetera.
This angered their herbivore viewers, and some of their carnivore viewers, who feared that the network had done a disservice towards carnivores.
After all, what message is Horns Network trying to send by normalising the use of actual meat?
Another scandal erupted when it was revealed that all of the chefs were born and raised in the Black Market, and at one point in time, may have been involved in a gang of sorts.
Everything died down after a few weeks— as was previously stated, the show is just that good.
It’s also hard to stay angry at people you've grown attached to— even if those people are on the telly.
.
.
.
The Sushigumi
when referring to the chefs collectively, people often call them the “Sushigumi”.
People also refer to the show itself by the same term, even though it's actually called “Shishi-Cooking”.
Shishi-Cooking is typically split up into 3 segments. Segments 1 and 2 are 1 hour long, with the 3rd segment being 2 hours long.
The 1st segment consists of one chef cooking.
The 2nd segment consists of two chefs cooking. They will either be working together, or working against each other in a more competitive setting.
The 3rd segment can be a free-for-all, with each of the 8 chefs competing against each other. The chefs can also be required to work together. Alternatively, they can be working in teams against each other.
Sometimes, a particular chef is given a handicap. It's a bit like Cutthroat Kitchen.
This being said, there are many variations— this is meant to encourage viewers to tune in regularly; you never know what they’ll do next!
.
.
.
Guests¹
there's been a number of guest chefs and judges on the show, including, but not limited to:
Gordon Ramsey, a well-known herbivore chef famed for his outbursts. He's always very tame on the show, though.
Wolfgang Duck, a wolf-duck hybrid. Was the cause of much intrigue when he was brought on the show.
Cat Cora, a talented feline known for being the first guest star— in addition to being the first guest chef on the show.
The network head, Louis, has been called into the studio on more than one occasion to sample some of what the Sushigumi have made. Despite being the head honcho, he always comes when called for.
¹ I am so sorry.
.
.
.
Ibuki
characterised as the “dad” chef, and will tsk at his colleagues if they swear too much around Agata.
He's popular with younger lions who see him as father-figure, animals who like “dad-bods”, as well as fathers and mothers who are trying to get into cooking.
His meals tend to be on the more simplistic side— he wants everyone to be able to cook, no matter how few ingredients they have.
Might occasionally go into an aside about education being important, and how he's grateful that he can work with those he considers to be family, and do what he loves at the same time.
Other times, he just cracks dad jokes— both accidentally and purposefully.
He invites Louis to the studio the most.
When working with the other chefs, he’s mostly paired with Dolph or Free. When competing, his most common opponents are Free (their seemingly conflicting personalities boost ratings even further) and Agata (for a older/younger dynamic).
.
.
.
Dolph
characterised as the “serious” one.
He takes great care in not only cooking, but in the presentation aspect as well.
He never uses more than he needs, and constantly makes mention of alternative ingredients and brands which can be used if one is on a budget.
As a result, he’s the favourite of amateur chefs who may not be starting out with high-end supplies.
He's gained a bit of a cult following among middle-aged animals for not being as high energy, nor as sentimental as some of the other chefs are.
Dolph is notable for taking the more inexperienced Agata under his wing. People find it quite touching how he gently corrects the other chef when he does something wrong.
He corrects, but never demeans or yells. He constantly reminds the viewers (and Agata) that making mistakes is part of the learning process.
.
.
.
Free
characterised as the “eccentric— wait, is this guy actually crazy?” one.
While everyone debates how much of Free's eccentric personality is just really good acting, they know better than to underestimate the level of creativity and skill he possesses.
He’s the reason that Shishi-Cooking is rated TV-MA; he swears often, makes crude jokes and generally says things that would make even a statue blush.
He stops completely, or tones himself way down when Agata is present, or if Ibuki has asked him to.
Free is mostly interested in how something tastes, but he likes using more unconventional ingredients.
He encourages people to give new, seemingly strange foods a try— after all, they may actually taste nice!
The studio managers also cry a little on the inside whenever Free has a segment to himself— there's always a lot to clean up after— one time, he rode his motorbike in the kitchen.
There's a running gag of Free providing mane care tips, while also complaining about how much work it is to maintain his own mane.
While older folks (lions included) may find Free to be an “improper” lion, younger viewers find it refreshing to see a lion on the television who isn't a stiff, stick-in-the-mud that's obsessed with perfection in everything.
Free is perfectly imperfect.
.
.
.
Agata
characterised as the “baby of the group”.
As the youngest chef, Agata is more attuned to trends. While it's technically beneath his skill level, he enjoys making trendy foods and drinks.
The episode where he made bubble tea is still very popular.
Newer viewers may underestimate him, but cooking is Agata’s natural talent — he lacks experience, but he more than makes up for it in other areas.
He very rarely has an entire segment to himself, and often ends up working with Dolph on his segments.
Even when competing against each other, Dolph still serves as a mentor and a father figure for Agata.
Dolph once sabotaged himself during a challenge so that Agata could have a better chance at winning.
Younger viewers find Agata's overall demeanour “cute”. Older folks seem to view Agata as a surrogate grandson, and cheer for him from within their kitchens or living rooms.
.
.
.
Miguel
characterised as the “health nut”.
He focuses primarily on protein-rich, or otherwise healthy meals.
He has a system where he accepts suggestions of healthy alternatives to unhealthy snacks or meals from viewers— it's made him quite popular.
Despite his primary focus being on healthy food, he knows that not everyone can afford it
So, like Dolph, he provides alternative ingredients and brands. However, Miguel also supplies areas which sell fresh produce cheaply.
Miguel always tries to reuse leftovers— if they aren't spoilt or rotten, why throw them away?
He has a sizable following, comprised of people trying to eat healthier, fellow health nuts and house-partners who wish their significant others were as muscular as Miguel.
He works out even while cooking— whilst waiting for something to bake, it's not uncommon for him to drop and do × amount of push-ups.
.
.
.
Dope
characterised as the “appreciative” one.
Dope wants his audience to have a deep appreciation for the recipes he uses.
He mainly uses recipes from far off places, and is able to recite several facts about them
Foreigners love him— it's so rare finding someone so dedicated. It's even rarer to find someone who properly appreciates the recipes of your forefathers.
The studio always receives one or two letters for Dope.
They are older folks happy that the recipes they grew up with are being spread to younger generations, or, they are younger animals who wanted to replicate the recipe of a departed family member but didn't know where to begin
Dope prefers to work alone, but, if he’s paired with anyone, it's usually Dolph
The former's seriousness complements the respectful approach Dope takes regarding his cooking
.
.
.
Hino
characterised as the “drop dead gorgeous” one.
Needless to say, Hino is very popular with the show’s viewers— especially with lonely housewives/househusbands/etc, young adults and teenagers.
He focuses very heavily on haute-cuisine, though he does also make simpler dishes.
Viewers debate whether he has bags under his eyes, or if it's just makeup
Hino has a slightly flirtatious, very laid-back attitude in the kitchen, and is prone to teasing the other chefs
Makes use of double entendres when cooking, but never goes overboard.
At the end of the day, he wants to be praised for his cooking skills, not just for his looks.
Like Dolph, Hino is very big on presentation. On more than one occasion, he has won challenges based on his presentation alone.
Every so often, he comes to the studio dressed casually— his casual attire signifies that he won't be making anything fancy that segment.
.
.
.
Sabu
characterised as the “quiet and skilled” one.
Whenever he has a segment all to himself, there's an orchestra, or some other live band performing behind him.
Sabu is a lion of very few words— the absurdity of having a band on set distracts the viewers from how little he talks, and the bandana he wears over his mouth.
Instead of speech, Sabu’s actions are relayed via subtitles.
On close up shots, the noise from the band is cut out, leaving only the heavenly sounds of the kitchen.
Sabu is popular with people who are into ASMR, as well as with music buffs.
At first, he was criticsed for his lack of speech, however, over time, these criticisms faded.
He's very skilled, and has the most experience out of the 8 chefs.
He prefers gourmet-style cooking, but also seems to enjoy making street foods.
He customises his bandana sometimes— it's a way for him to show support for certain movements. It's also a way for him to poke fun at his colleagues:
“Are you smarter than Free? Probably.”
“Agata is NOT up for adoption. Stop asking.” and:
“You see those idiots (and Louis)?” are among his most popular customisations.
.
.
.
Jinma
characterised as the “knowledgeable” one.
Whereas Dope is all about respecting the recipes of other cultures and species, Jinma is a bit of a culinary history expert.
He likes to explain things like why certain areas are more prone to developing a specific style, or method of cooking.
It's a bit like watching the history channel, honestly— the show makes a point of listing any references used.
His odd mane cut makes some people worry that he's another Free— that is, crazy and overtly eccentric.
However, Jinma is very comfortably himself, though, he does collaborate with Free sometimes.
With Jinma, he wants to show off his cooking prowess yes, but he also wants to encourage Shishi-Cooking’s viewers to not see a meal as only a meal, but as a portal to the days of old.
.
.
.
Memorable Moments from Shishi-Cooking
“This is poisonous— only extremely skilled chefs are allowed to prepare this dish. Some prefer to leave the poison in, but, as we’re not trying to kill anyone, we will be removing all of it.”
“Not trying to kill anyone? Speak for yourself.”
— Free, when Dolph is explaining how poisonous the blowfish they're using is.
.
.
.
“Langauge!— Agata’s here for fuck’s sake!”
— Ibuki, scolding everyone for swearing like sailors around Agata.
.
.
.
“Ibuki’s not the type to get mad. He gets disappointed. It's worse somehow.”
— Hino, discussing his co-worker during one of his segments.
.
.
.
“This is where we cry and curse the creator that's abandoned us.”
— Jinma, “joking around” after his cake burns, with less than 10 minutes on the clock.

beastars episode 24 thoughts!
this post got kinda long i have Many Thoughts on this one
Overall I had fun watching this ep but I could really tell it was rushed and there was so much that got cut, which makes me super sad. our fears about the finale having pacing issues due to all the added scenes & rearranging were confirmed & it rly sucks, but i'll elaborate more on that in a bit.
this week's ep covered the end of chapter 92, chapters 93-97, and included small bits of chapters 98 & 99.
so the ep starts with the ED and the latter part of the tunnel scene with ibuki and louis. i liked the visual effect they used to show that they were in the dark. louis' voice acting was also On Point. for the most part i think this scene was done pretty well but I can tell it's being rushed also. I really wish we got more buildup and narration instead of just jumping straight to ibuki telling louis to shoot him. the way it is in the anime feels less impactful imo.
also im sad we didnt get to see this in the anime
Tumblr media
before i move on, i wanna talk a bit about louis and his relationship w/ the shishigumi and ibuki. i feel like in the anime quite a few of the lil moments that really endear you to the shishigumi and also ibuki were either cut or kinda glossed over, which is strange to me considering how much effort and care went into the ED. it's very emotional and good but i feel like maybe anime onlies are missing out only seeing the anime and the MV. but idk.
legosi and riz's fight was quite rushed as well. there's so much narration and dialogue missing from it and that really rubs me the wrong way. It wasn't all bad but compared to the manga I just don't think it's as good. I will say tho that I really liked the sequence w legosi and the moths. I thought it looked really nice and was pretty well done.
also i liked how the backgrounds had some anti-yahya graffiti, its a nice touch imo
Tumblr media
it says "high quality horse meat"
I was happy to see legosi do the "tell me more" pose but I'm honestly disappointed that the anime took out the whole exposition about why legosi did it. like i feel like without that it's just legosi being weird when he has a reason for it!!! This is just one example of the anime taking out crucial narration during the fight.
I also think it's kinda weird how they changed how louis shows up at the fight. im not sure how i feel about riz just charging at him like that, but i liked how legosi kicked him before they ran lol.
i dont have much to say about pina's small scene but I did wanna say that during my first watch thru of the ep i was too distracted trying to read the graffiti behind him that i didn't notice him getting his phone out of the dumpster and calling the cops lmao
Tumblr media
it says "devour yahya"
and now... here we are... the predation scene.
overall i thought it was pretty well done but, like the rest of the ep, i could tell it was also being kinda rushed. some important beats werent given enough time to really sink in, and there's a few bits of narration taken out of this part as well that i find disappointing :^(
Tumblr media
tho i did like how the anime called back to this scene in s1 when legosi mentions utilizing his strength.
Tumblr media
also this part where louis is remembering ibuki had me like😭
I also really liked seeing louis cry. I was crying too sjdflskjdflsjkdf. i thought that scene was really good, its prolly my favorite part of the ep tbh. getting to hear the whole predation scene voiced made me kind of a mess lol. i really liked louis' expressions throughout this whole ep too. studio orange used their whole louis expression budget on these last 2 eps lmao.
seeing legosi instantly get all beefed up was great too. he looked a little ridiculous but i kinda loved it lol. he's so huge and poofy. i love him.
Tumblr media
big pomeranian
anyway, im also sad they took out louis' line about being reduced to a flashback character lol. instead he tells legosi "be a hero" again which... im not sure about that change. i liked the part with riz thinking back about tem tho. tho imo the way riz realizes he's in the wrong feels pretty sudden. again adding to how rushed the whole ep feels.
before i move on again i just wanna say legosi looks so cute. even all puffed up and covered in blood. how does he do that
Tumblr media Tumblr media
baby boy baby. i wanna ruffle his cheek floofs.
i think one of the things im most disappointed about from this whole ep was how the fight got wrapped up. i really like how the cops show up and totally shift the tone in the manga jslkdfjskljdf. im also really sad we didnt get this interaction
Tumblr media
tthe anime really took out most of the sillier moments from the finale, which makes me pretty sad to think about. i know the anime and manga have different tones but pls let the boys be silly sometimes!!
the next part where legosi and louis finally establish their friendship was really cute tho ❤️ even tho it was pretty different i enjoyed it a lot.
Tumblr media
BABIESSSS 🥺😭❤️❤️
the wrap-up for this arc and this episode gave me whiplash sdjlfkjsdf. it literally speedruns thru legosi's predation conviction, being released, louis & haru's graduation, and legosi deciding he's going to drop out of school. that is SO MUCH AT ONCE. also i was holding out hope that legosi would have his new years call with haru after the fight instead but that didnt happen!! so it just got cut!!! kinda mad about that tbh. legosi and haru having a lil scene at the very end made up for it a lil bit but that's still one of haru's few moments in this arc that's just not included.
we didnt even get the part wher legosi learns he can't marry haru bc of his conviction.
ive been really hoping for a season 3 announcement once this season ended. with all the background allusions to yahya, the added plot point of someone stealing elephant tusks, and sebun and melon's lil cameos in this season, it seemed to me that studio orange was kinda teasing a 3rd season. but now, with the dismissive way the anime ended, and paru's note from earlier today, im less sure about the possibility of a 3rd season. i'd still like to see the rest of the series animated, but i guess we'll just have to wait and see if more anime is announced in the future.
if we do get another season in the future i just hope that we swing back around and actually address the things that got completely glossed over in the last couple minutes of this episode instead of charging forward w/o touching them again.
i really think the finale for this arc should've been two episodes at least. not including the tunnel scene. i think then things wouldn't have felt so rushed. people have been saying this season really would have benefitted from at least 1 extra episode and i cant help but agree. some have even suggested a whole 24 episodes just for this arc, but i think that this arc couldve been done properly with 12 or 13 episodes if there was some better prioritizing on what to include and what to cut.
like i dont mind not getting the parts about legosi's family if they can be addressed somehow in a future season (or if theres no more future anime seasons thats a plot thread that doesnt have to be worried about). i could have lived w/o seeing sheila & peach's chapter animated if it meant more time for the focus of this arc. and was the kangaroo red herring really necessary?
adaptation wise, i dont think this season was as good as the first. i still think it did fairly well, but i know that it could have been much better. ive been excited to watch this season with my friends once the dub releases, but now im wondering if i should just tell them to read the manga instead. sighs idk. perhaps it comes thru better as a bingewatch, or perhaps im being a bit too harsh. idk. at some point ill do a rewatch and see how i feel about the season as a whole, but that wont be for a while.
if you've read this far, thanks for reading my ramblings!! it's been fun to make these posts every week and im gonna miss getting new episodes every week.

Beastars, vol. 7 (english)
Tumblr media
This is the last volume published in Mexico so far (march 12). I was going to leave this for the next round… but this is where Pina shows up, and he’s one of my favorite characters. Not to mention, this is when Legosi and Riz french kiss. So I had to include it!
Chapter 53.
- A look at politics and certain species prejudices in the world of Beastars.
- Gon is right: Pushing the students to solve the murder instead of getting adult authorities involved will end terribly.
- The killer’s love song to Tem… an ode to Vore, one might say. In the most terrifying way.
Tumblr media
Chapter 54.
- I swear Kai (is that him?) is not so much startled by the scars as trying to hide an erection.
Tumblr media
Chapter 55.
- Rokume is a somewhat ambiguous character. One could wonder if she was telling the truth about being ordered not to take direct actions. Hero guide or manipulator? The question will remain for a while.
- in any case this is the call to action, as profiled by, for example, Joseph Campbell. Even if the hero is satisfied with his life, he’ll be pushed to a new adventure, which won’t necessarily end in a good way.
Chapter 56.
- Louis’ beast weapon as the boss of a mafia seeking to legitimize itself (actually it’s about controlling all the market, not unlike in real life) —is his rhetoric.
- So corrupted is Louis that he is now eating other deers (!!) and changed his worldview from “carnivores vs predators” to “winners and losers”.
- Yet he keeps his stubbornness. Here he argues with Ibuki, his perverse mentor, about eating vegetables. For Louis, it’s a sign of weakness. He’s a piece of work.
Chapter 57.
- I love details like this bird fight track.
Tumblr media
- Louis helps a beggar… while sporting those snake-skin shoes I mentioned last time. This is no act of goodwill, this is a criminal who knows he can afford to display kindness sometimes.
Tumblr media
- Juno was able to deduce Louis’ whereabouts on her own, something nobody else at school accomplished.
- She calls him out on his bullshit, too: The power he now wields is merely a way to give up.
Chapter 58.
- A perfect introduction for Pina: Breaking up a fight between Legosi and Bill.
Tumblr media
- Cool your jets, Bill:
Tumblr media
Chapter 59.
Chapter 60.
- According to this flashback, it seems Tem was closer to Legosi than he thinks…
Tumblr media
- Beaten and blindfolded, Legosi understands what being a victim feels like, and why herbivores find it hard to trust carnivores. Here is another key theme of Beastars: The importance of empathy as a way to bridge differences.
- And now, this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Chapter 61.
Extra.
- Legosi dating sim!
Tumblr media
- And Louis, too.
Tumblr media
*
Tumblr media
And with this, we conclude for now. The next volume will be out in Mexico sometime in May.
I think I’ll still try and do a review of these seven volumes later, though.

I don’t think Jack is gonna die. Mostly because:
1. Jack is being set up way too much to be just killed off. We already know from past chapters that in spite of his overly cheerful persona Jack is someone that has a lot of internalized and sometimes even represed feelings about his condition as a Labrador and all the societal expectations placed on him because of that. Those feelings are after all what led him to aproach Legosi in the first place and what pushed him to become his friend. So I think that those kind of feelings are qhat they are going to be used now to explore a little deeper Jack and legosi’s relationship. Not to mention the whole deal about the “real” story between carnivores and herbivores.
2. In beastars death hasn’t been used for shock value. Most deaths serve a purpose:
Tem’s death was the presentation of the series, it converyed everyting this series was going to be about as well as setting up some future arcs.
Legosi’s mom died 5 years before the manga starts but her death is used to explore the conditions of hibrids in the current society.
Ibuki’s death it’s a tunrning point for Lois in leaving the Shishigumi and returning “to the Light” (I also could go on and on about what that moment and his death meant to Ibuki but I don’t want to overextend myself)
Yafya is revealed as a carnivore killer, wich rather that trying to shock, it means showcase the fact that he’s a hypocrite.
There are other minor death mentioned thorugh the manga, wich are a window to either society, or set ups for characters (like Melon killing elephants).
So the sum it up, Jack is being set up for some development and killing him off now would only be shock value wich as I already shown, is not something this manga does.
I still think that Jack will try to go trough with his suicide but he will either be saved las minut of he will fortunately be stoped before he actually tries.
