The babes are back in town! I'm VERY excited, you can tell because I got bingo done a little early for once, and I'm sure everyone else is too. I've put together a bingo call list for the Nein reunited. Just like the C2 finale's call list, this is 69 items. You can find them all below the cut, and you can get your own bingo card here at BingoBaker. Here's some notes for the call list.
"Fjord has a new hat" is rather generous. Since it is pretty impossible to tell if it's the SAME hat as the one he had in Eiselcross, I'm going to say that if he is described with ANY hat, this square is legal.
"Fjord has a tattoo" does not require it be magical. A non-magical tattoo counts, but a magical one is fun.
"any (real) cat" generally is for any cat that isn't Frumpkin. Ergo, mentioning Frumpkin as a cat who once accompanied Caleb does not count. (He was a fey cat, rather than a beast cat, anyway.) The Tower counts also do NOT count, by virtue of not being real cats.
Any item listed by name, the item must be used for it to count as a square. For example, Beau teleporting using the Cape of the Mountebank make the square legal. Endless Flask counts if it's offered or drunk from.
"Sweet Baby" is Veth's gun. If Veth has acquired more bullets and shoots her gun, that's the square for it.
"any new item" is for any item that the Nein did NOT have at the end of the campaign. This is any item they may have acquired between now and the end of the campaign OR any item they newly acquire during this episode.
"new crew member" is for any new NAMED crew member of the Nein Heroez. The currently known crew is: Fjord, Orly, Marius, Gallan, Shelda, Kingsley, and Jester. Should he have decided to join the crew since, Vandran also counts as existing crew.
"ship to ship combat" is basically any combat between ships as entities in themselves, i.e. cannon fire. "Combat on deck" is largely between PCs individually. A single combat CAN be both.
If it is mentioned that Marius has killed someone BEFORE this episode, it DOES count for "Marius kills someone"
Any listed spell does count if an NPC casts it.
"Veth casts a new spell" covers cantrips as well.
Fjord was mentioned as having Cone of Cold during the campaign, but casting is now DOES count for "Fjord or Caleb casts new spell" bc it was never cast. Friends counts for the same reason.
As always, you can ask me for clarifications before, during, or after the episode into the rest of the week! I always love seeing your bingos or almost bingos—and I also love seeing some fun rows you hope will happen ahead of the episode.
May the Nein bring you luck this week.

Written in collaboration with the incredibly kind @somethingwritey

“Alright, Little Bee,” Fjord said, looking down at Eysel who was walking dutifully by his side. “You have a very important task today, remember?”
Eysel nodded, her small hand tucked comfortably into his. She stared up at the large statesman’s house.
Today was a big day.
Fjord had a meeting with a statesman to discuss a possible business endeavor for Stone’s Throw Shipping. A deal like this one could really help get the company off the ground, and he couldn’t help being slightly nervous. He was rather out of practice as the “face of the party” now that the Nein weren’t traveling together as frequently.
He was also a little... apprehensive about bringing Eysel along. A small child wasn’t exactly his first choice as a business wingman, but Jester was visiting Marion, and it was Orly’s day off. They’d all agreed never to let Eysel stay alone with Kingsley (not again), which meant Fjord was double-teaming his responsibilities today.
Fatherhood and entrepreneur extraordinaire.
At least, that’s what Jester had said. He wasn’t so sure.
Still, he tried not to reveal his concerns to Eysel. Instead, he plopped his own hat on her head—chuckling as it nearly fell past her eyes. “You’re my first mate today,” he reminded her. “Think you can handle it?”
She nodded, peering up at him from under the hat. “Yes, I can. I promise.”
“Very good.”
As the two of them waited to be taken into the main house, Fjord occupied himself with pitching silently in his head. He went over the words over and again, hoping he wouldn’t forget them when the time came.
Stone’s Throw Shipping is a unique business endeavor that I believe could greatly benefit a noble —
“Fjord.” Eysel tugged on his leg. “There’s a cow.”
Blinking, Fjord turned to the rest of the yard, and yes, there was in fact a large cow nibbling its way through some shrubbery. “So, there is.”
“Can we go say hi?”
Fjord looked around, glancing at the main door for several seconds. He still didn’t hear any sort of footsteps, and the maid who’d told them to wait outside hadn’t been all that specific.
“Alright, just for a moment,” Fjord agreed, taking Eysel by the hand and leading her out into the yard. He was pretty sure cows didn’t gobble up small children. He’d be on his guard just in case.
The moment they approached the beast, they were immediately alerted to a commotion rounding the side of the house. A young elven boy—looking no older than twenty—raced towards them. His knees were dirty, and judging by the weed clippings he was clutching in one hand, Fjord assumed the boy must be the gardener.
“No, no,” the boy groaned, hands on his knees as he approached. “I just shaped those last week.”
The cow didn’t seem perturbed by the boy’s panicked state, continuing to munch happily on the plants.
Eysel immediately hid behind Fjord’s leg. She looked up at him with pleading eyes, and Fjord already knew exactly what she wanted.
He cleared his throat, and the boy only just seemed to notice the two of them standing there. He peered up and over the top of the cow, eyes getting wide.
“Can I help you?” he asked, adjusting his shirt and hat the best he could.
“My Eysel here has expressed interest in petting your magnificent beast,” Fjord said as diplomatically as he possibly could.
The boy came around the other side of the cow, wiping his hands on his pants and offering one out to Fjord to shake.
“Certainly,” the boy smiled. “Bourbon’s only flaw is that she loves to ruin my handiwork. Otherwise, she’s the friendliest thing you’ll ever meet. Come now. Just here on the side.”
He guided Eysel towards the cow—apparently called Bourbon—and demonstrated the proper way to pet her. Eysel’s curiosity gradually overtook her shyness, and she dragged Fjord forward to comply.
Eysel’s eyes lit up as she stroked the course, soft hair of the cow, and Fjord could’ve sworn he heard a contented growling noise coming from deep in her throat. She laughed a little, petting Bourbon with more confidence as the cow swung her head back to investigate the small girl.
“Thank you,” Fjord said to the boy with a gracious nod.
“Name’s Finric,” the boy said with a shrug. “My pleasure.”
All too soon, the front door to the main house opened, and Fjord was summoned inside. He collected Eysel and together, they trudged back up towards the porch.
“I think you should do business with Bourbon,” Eysel observed pointedly, glancing over her shoulder at Finric who was now wrestling the cow out of the shrubbery.
“Bourbon is a cow,” Fjord said.
“I like cows.” Eysel hummed a little tune as she skipped up the porch stairs.
The first part of their afternoon was a tour of the grand estate. The main house was lovely, but Eysel didn’t seem all that engaged.
Indeed, about twenty minutes into the tour, she was already quietly complaining of boredom. Desperate to keep her entertained, Fjord swung the little girl up onto his shoulders for one of her favorite games: pilots.
Instantly, she brightened, giggling as she pulled his ears and turned him in all sorts of directions.
The staff leading the tour gave him a rather odd look, but he merely smiled back and nodded, commenting on how the design was reminiscent of coastal houses in some of the most beautiful port cities he’d visited.
As they were coming to the end of the tour, Fjord tried to turn into the next hallway while following their guide, but Eysel had other plans. She twisted him in the other direction, and he played the part—flailing dramatically.
He could hear her laughing above him as his arms spun out, pretending to have been completely caught unawares. His fingers grazed the edge of a very fine porcelain vase displayed in the hall. It wobbled and would’ve likely toppled if not for his quick reflexes.
The staff instantly was at his side, examining the vase and glaring at Eysel.
“We’d prefer if you didn’t touch the expensive artifacts,” one of them said, a bit patronizing for Fjord’s liking. “Next time, please alert us that you’ll be bringing a child, so we can make the proper... precautions around the place.”
“My apologies.” Fjord carefully swung Eysel down off his shoulders, taking her by the hand. “Won’t happen again, and this sort of thing certainly doesn’t represent Stone’s Throw as a company.”
“It was an accident,” Eysel whispered to him.
“I know.” He gave her a reassuring nod. “Let’s just walk on our own two feet for now, okay?”
Lunch was served in the sitting room next. The owner of the estate was waiting for them, and Fjord introduced himself as they sat down.
This was it.
Business talks were about to commence.
“You brought a child?” The owner eyed Eysel as she sat down, a note of disdain mingling with the surprise in his voice. “We have napkins, if... she requires one.”
Eysel had somehow gotten a sticky goo all over her fingers, and she stuck them together with a smile. Fjord sighed. He’d taken his eyes off her for one second.
“She’s my charge for the afternoon,” he explained, handing Eysel a napkin.
As the food was brought out, Fjord gratefully accepted a serving. It was definitely gourmet, with fancy toppings and small portions that were reminiscent of what Marion served at the Chateau during her performances.
Unfortunately, Eysel had decided to let her Jester really shine through that afternoon. She picked at the food on her plate, moving it around with her hands or a fork until it was smeared in a rather unappetizing way.
The owner coughed a little, noticing Eysel’s behaviour.
Fjord could feel his face heating up, and he leaned over to the little girl. “Please stop playing with your food and eat it.”
“It’s yucky,” she complained.
“Just give it a try.”
Lunch proceeded rather awkwardly after that, and Fjord hoped it wouldn’t ruin the rest of the afternoon. He politely tried to broach several topics related to Stone’s Throw, ignoring the way Eysel was so clearly pouting beside him.
———
After what felt like an eternity, lunch concluded.
“Shall we continue the conversation in the other room?” the owner said, standing and gesturing for Fjord to follow him. And then he paused, glancing at Eysel who was inspecting a statue of a mermaid on a nearby table.
“Come, Eysel,” Fjord motioned, beckoning for her to join them.
The owner’s smile faltered, and he winced. “Might I suggest it be... grown-ups only? I fear a child might distract us from the more important matters at hand.”
Fjord sighed, kneeling down beside his little girl. He lifted the hat so he could see her face better. “Would it be alright if you played quietly in here?”
Her shoulders slumped. “Do I have to?”
“If you’re really good, we can get a treat on the way home.” He was begging now, and he knew that was definitely not the right method of parenting, but he really, really needed this meeting to go well.
After kissing the top of her forehead, Fjord joined the owner in the adjoining room.
———
All things considered, it was a bit smoother without having to worry about Eysel every couple of seconds. The conversation flowed smoothly without any interruptions, and Fjord hoped that boded well for the potential contract.
“That’s exactly why I believe Stone’s Throw Shipping is so important,” Fjord explained. “There’s just no other company with the same resources and commitment to excellence on the market right now.”
Throughout their talk, he tried to listen every now and again for Eysel in the other room, but all seemed to be going okay. There were no large crashes, no crying, and he made it almost an entire hour before he excused himself to check on the small girl.
The moment he poked his head into the other room, Fjord’s heart dropped. Eysel was nowhere to be seen, and his hat lay in the center of the room—abandoned.
“What happened?” Fjord asked the staff lingering at the other end of the room. “Where’d she go?”
One of them glanced around with a shrug, and the other one pointed to the door.
“She excused herself some time ago, sir,” they explained.
Fjord rubbed at his forehead, taking a deep breath. The grounds weren’t that large, but surely, someone should’ve come to get him when she’d wandered off.
“Fjord?” The statesman re-entered the room as well, looking irritated. “Are you intending to keep me waiting all afternoon?”
Picking up his hat, Fjord shook his head. “It’s Eysel. She vanished.”
“Children are prone to doing that.” There was no real empathy in the statesman’s voice. He glanced at his timepiece. “I would suggest next time not bringing a child to a business endeavor, yes? Certainly not one so poorly behaved. I fear her parents have not imparted proper manners.”
Fjord raised an eyebrow. “I’m her parent.”
The statesman glanced up, curious. “Is that so? Well, my statement still stands.”
“If you’ll excuse me,” Fjord said, dusting his hat off and placing it on his head. “I am going to go locate said ‘poorly-mannered’ child of mine. Good afternoon.”
He checked the halls of the house, and the front foyer. There was no sign of Eysel. Just as he was starting to grow slightly more concerned, he spotted a familiar figure in the lawn outside.
Eysel was playing with Bourbon the cow while Finric looked on. She was grass-stained and dirty, but seemed happier than he’d seen her all afternoon.
She saw him approaching and smiled. “You found me.”
“Why did you wander off?” he asked, relieved.
“First mate wasn’t that fun,” she shrugged, pulling up a few blades of grass. “I wanted to play something else. Can we pick flowers?”
Fjord glanced at Finric, who shrugged. “Just not too many,” he said. “The owners shouldn’t notice much.”
Gleefully, Eysel began to pick flowers—designating them for different people. She selected some for Jester, for Nona Marion, and even for Caduceus.
(“He loves flowers,” she explained to Fjord, quite seriously.)
Fjord gladly joined in, trying not to think about explaining to Jester and the crew why Stone’s Throw didn’t have a new business partner.
As if she could read his mind, Eysel glanced up at him. “Did you get what you wanted?”
He ruffled her hair with a sigh. “Not quite, Little Ember. But that’s alright. Shipping is a tough business these days. I’m just glad you’re happy.”
Finric’s face brightened. “Did I hear you’re in shipping?”
“I am,” Fjord shrugged, trying not to sound too dour about it. “If you know of anyone in need of a business deal, let me know.”
Finric stuck out his hand for the second time that day. “Let me re-introduce myself,” he laughed. “I own the estate next door. And I’d love to talk shipping with you.”
Fjord couldn’t help gaping at him a little. “So... you’re not a gardener, then?”
“Oh, just part-time,” the boy shrugged. “Bourbon here ruined a patch of prized flowers. The statesman wasn't too pleased, but let me off with some labor instead of pressing any charges.”
It took Finric and Fjord the better part of the next two hours to verbally work out a contract, with Fjord agreeing to send signed materials over to Finric’s estate within the week. Finric told him about his family’s fortune in enchanted flora and herbs, and how partnering with a shipping company would greatly expand their influence.
“I have to say,” Finric said as he and Fjord finished up, watching Eysel say her goodbyes to Bourbon. “I applaud your business for getting its priorities right. My family wouldn’t be where we are today if we hadn’t put each other first.”
Fjord smiled at Eysel, who turned and waved at him. “I can understand that, I think.”
———
On the way home, Eysel asked to finish the shoulder ride that had been cut short on the morning tour. As she perched high above the world, Fjord could feel her delicate touch weaving flowers into his hair, but he didn’t complain—not even once.
“I wasn’t really all that good,” Eysel sighed. “No treat, right?”
“Not true,” Fjord squeezed her leg. “You were the best first mate I could’ve asked for.” And then he paused, panicking. “Just promise you won’t tell Beau, okay?”

Musings about my 8 experiences
So… most 8 descriptions turn the type into a shallow meme. “Orly? You think you’re an 8? Go start a scene at the mall! because 8 is about being a Karen” “Prove ur a literal psychopath before you identify with this type”. Everyone (especially all the ppl who date 8s! Lol) begs 8s to figure ourselves out. Enneagram does a piss poor job at helping us figure ourselves out… just turns us into a caricature and forces us to prove any psychopathic behaviors we may already harbor due to this fixation.
So, I have done you people the honors of figuring 8s out!
Read what Ichazo, one of the OG, says about 8.
———
Tumblr media
——— This is not The Cool Type. Nor is it “the dark edgy traumatized type that only the most dark edgy traumatized people can be” — that is an indirect way of still glorifying 8 as The Cool Type. 8 is literally just another type which gives its own problems to the person who has to deal with it.
I actually believe that low Te 8s are more common than high Te 8s, since as you can see here, 8 is about the inability to tolerate structure including any structures that you yourself build. 8 is NOT the Te-like desire to create more structure. Immature Te where you create a structure you didn’t really think deeply about creating, and then tear it down immediately because your immature Te doesn’t know how to keep it up, or because your more dominant Fi takes over and feels like it doesn’t want to continue suddenly, is common in 8s.
I commonly see high Tes thinking they’re 8s becuz they’re assertive bosses and good leaders. Lol. No. You guys are 3s or 1s. 8s must do a fuckton of conscious growth and development before we can begin to add the structure and consistency to our lives AND TO OUR BRAINS, that is necessary to make us good leaders of anything. The most stereotypical 8 is an ESFP Antifa looter or gang criminal with no concept of their direction in life whatsoever. Not an ambitious CEO following a tight schedule of meetings! That is structure. 8s cannot handle structure without bursting into a rage and tearing it down, by definition of the type.
The 8 being unable to handle structure is not purely an external thing. The hatred of structure runs so deep, that the 8 cannot even handle structure within his or her own mind. The 8’s hatred of external authority is the manifestation of her hatred of authority within. 8s tear down any authority they attempt to create in their own lives just as much as they tear down any external authority they see. Self destructive? Yeah. Do 8s care? ABSOLUTELY NOT! Concepts like “self destructive” are toxic and flawed and must be torn down too, according to the 8. All standards of morality are unjust and lacking truth somehow and therefore must be torn down, internally and externally. The 8 is the ultimate postmodernist.
——————
Now let’s talk about my life experience. Setting goals feels like locking myself into a cage full of chains. I literally feel like a caged beast when I define simple goals for myself, with the level of anger it causes me. I could tell you my goals but I know it’ll all be bullshit and I won’t actually follow them because I get angry about the chains the structure is imposing on me (even tho I’m the one who built it. Once its built it is out of my immediate control and has a life of its own it can use to control me). I angst and I rage about how I can’t do simple things. I only do Te stuff when absolutely forced by something in the external world which repulses me more than my own Te. I’m not able to do structure even though I know that it’s the way to make money and become the 8 -> 2 provider protector goddess queen I want to be. Um… why should money even be a thing anyways? Money is a construct of the unjust power structure. It makes my body REEEE to discipline myself into seeking money.
If I happen to spontaneously run into money without putting an elaborate, STRUCTURED effort into making money, I’ll be like “yippee!” and take it. But putting too much conscious effort into working hard and making money makes me fucking REEEEE as it activates my sense of injustice about everything you could possibly feel a sense of injustice about.
I’m too prideful about how I won’t be controlled, even by my own superego and my own dreams. I will tear those structures I create down too because I believe there is no truth in anything, not even anything I create or aspire to (loss of Holy Truth). My superego knows that it’s good for me to follow my work ethic and go to work. My rageful vengeance complex cannot go to work because I’m too angry about all the little injustices at work and the corrupt nature of corporate work to begin with. Self-destructive internal struggles like this where you tear down any decision-making framework you are trying to build due to seeing little injustices everywhere, are all part of the 8 fixation. 8s must heal ourselves through being aware of them and reasoning with them.
The 8 fixation is not purely externalized. No fixation is purely externalized. It is most important for the Assertive types out of any of the types, to realize the internal psychological nature of their fixation, as these types are the most negligent of their internal psychology

From Juxtapoz Magazine:
"111 Minna Gallery is excited to invite you to their latest art exhibition curated by legendary owner and founder of Seventh Son Tattoo founder, Luke Stewart.  Seventh Son Tattoo is hosting Year of the Tiger, a collective exhibit featuring tiger-themed artwork by prominent artists both locally and internationally opening at 111 Minna on the final day of the year of the tiger—January 21st 2023. The opening reception is 7pm-midnight on Saturday, January 21, 2023.
2022 was the year of the water tiger under the Chinese zodiac, an auspicious year that comes only every 60 years. The tiger image has long been a popular and iconic symbol in tattoo culture. Its meanings can vary greatly depending on the origin; it is often a symbol of strength, courage, and fearlessness, and when depicted alongside a dragon, the tiger embodies earth while the dragon symbolizes heaven —representing the binary of yin and yang, respectively. In Japanese lore, the white tiger specifically is a sacred animal known as Byakko, one of 4 beasts worshipped as divine guardians. Full of a rich history of mythology, lore and deeply rooted symbolism, the tiger has thus been a popular motif in flash designs for decades, and has become somewhat of a mascot for tattoo culture. ‘Year of the Tiger’ is a collection of the featured artists’ ideas and expressions of the ubiquitous tiger. By centering all of the works on such a familiar image, the artists have the opportunity to give it new life; whether it is translating it into tattoo designs, or creative interpretations of the tiger that are uniquely born from the imagination of each individual. This is the 3rd art exhibit curated by Seventh Son centered around an animal of the zodiac; coming off the coattails of the collective challenges of the last few years, from the pandemic to the divisive political climate both at home and abroad, we hope this show will bring members of the community together for a fun night of nothing…but…tigers!
Featuring art by: Luke Stewart (Seventh Son Tattoo owner - show curator), Stace Forand, Henry Lewis, Zac Scheinbaum, Victor J Webster, Victor Reyes, Cindy Maxwell, Acetates, Mike Roper, Jason Kundell, Kim Stace Thomas, George Campise, Matt Leibo, Christina Ramos, Andre Malcolm, Trevor McStay, Orly Locquiao, Jared Smith, Miss Juliet, Lango Olivera, Shun Nakatsuru, Max May, Paul Dobleman, Yutaro Sakai, Jordan Cole Wright, Joey Armstrong, Grime, Jeff Croci, Scott Sylvia and Amanda Lynn. "

I could line my wall with all the posts Thomas has made about Chloe tonight. (around 50, by my count)
If you wanna read them, don’t bother.
I certainly won’t be sharing any of them
What would be the point?
Because basically, they amount to one thing...
Chloe is bad, and we’re bad people for liking her.
That’s it.
And for anyone thinking that he kids around a lot with his comments...
I’m pretty sure this is something he feels VERY strongly about.
Or he wouldn’t expand so much energy in constantly talking her down.
So no, I don’t think we’re going to get a Chloe redemption.
No, I don’t think she’ll be Queen Bee again.
No, I can’t see any real change in her behavior.
She’ll just remain the same ol’ hatable Chloe, the ‘evil’ girl that young kids apparently ‘get’ that adults don’t understand...
Yep, apparently we’re ‘dumb’ for wanting her to improve and develop!
To provide a good example for bullies out there that they can be more than just abusers all their lives!
Children couldn’t possibly grasp the delicate subtleties of self-improvement as you grow up!
It’s all so clear now!
Stupid us!
Also, her merchandise doesn’t sell very well.
Another good case for her staying as a villain, I guess.
And she’s compared to a monster and a domestic abuser.
This damaged teenage girl.
Yeah, sounds about right.
And all those tender moments where she showed empathy and love were just ‘fake outs’ all along.
Makes total sense!
And anyone who wanted more from her is just ‘delusional’ and is ‘writing the show in their head’.
Exactly!
Except...
That’s not the way it seemed on screen at all.
When she hugged Miss Bustier
Or had a heart-to-heart with Ladybug
When she risked her life as Queen Bee
Showed genuine concern for Adrien
When she finally appreciated Jean-something
And shared moments of friendship with Sabrina
These did NOT come across as part of an elaborate plot twist
From a show which isn’t exactly known for its complex writing.
They seemed to form part of a ladder...
Which would inevitably climb to a true character shift.
Where this flawed teenage girl could take a long, hard look at her life.
And realize she didn’t HAVE to be like her awful mother.
Or as power-hungry as her father.
She could learn lessons from her favorite superhero Ladybug...
Become a better person...
And an even greater superhero.
She could still keep her sassy attitude.
Just be a bit kinder and selfless, that’s all.
But, nope.
EVERY bit of niceness we witnessed on screen...
None of it was real.
It was all influenced by ‘class’.
Even her childhood friendship with Adrien was nothing.
If he was as poor as the rest of his classmates, she would’ve bullied him too.
Straight from Thomas’s own mouth.
One of the best relationships in the show, gone just. Like. THAT.
He also said to ‘redeem’ her at this stage would be too ‘unconvincing’?
ORLY?
I hate to return to critical mode...
But the show ain’t exactly known for its consistent writing.
One minute Marinette is confident around Adrien...
Next she’s a nervous jumble of words.
It sets up two new ships for Mari and Adrien with great fanfare...
Only to ditch them both two eps later.
(Also, what the **** did they plan to do with Lila?!)
In other words, this isn’t a show that plays the long game
Whether this is to satisfy the networks’ demand to air the eps out of order idk.
The point is that trying to tell us that Chloe’s ‘arc’ was some grand scheme...
Where she’d have a few sympathetic moments only to emerge worst than ever afterwards....
I simply don’t believe it.
Either this is terrible, amateurish writing of the worst kind...
Or Thomas flexed his influence behind the scenes...
And put an abrupt end to Chloe’s development before it really got started.
It doesn’t really matter which reason I guess.
What DOES matter is this petty and spiteful man sees fit to bash her in around 70% of his online interactions right now.
He could just ignore the posts but nope, he goes right in there, full throttle.
You can just tell how smart he is with his intimate psychological breakdowns of why Chloe is the way she is...
When we all know the actual reason... he just couldn’t be bothered.
Far better to create a whole new character, give her none of the depths that could make a developed Chloe such a pain to write...
And then 'reward’ her with the position of Queen Bee, for being super-sweet and as shallow as a puddle.
And oops, make her Chloe’s half-sister or whatever to further rub salt in Chloe stans’ wounds.
Is the show even gonna tackle the angst that would arise from Mayor Andre discovering his beloved wife had an affair?
Or Chloe discovering her much-loved mother is in fact a cheat?
What about coping with the SHOCK revelation that she... GASP... has a long-lost sister?
Forget it. All that rich potential for human emotions sounds B O R I N G.
Don’t forget that if there’s a major event in this show that doesn’t include the words ‘Love Square’, the makers just don’t care.
Let’s cut straight to a giant golden Zoe (who now looks like a giant golden Chloe) trying to smoosh her now much smaller sister...
While Chloe pushes Marinette and her parents towards the beast to save herself.
Because of course she does.
Never misses a trick to make Chloe look bad, does Thomas.
It’s a skill you can tell he’s very proud of.
Anyway, back to Zoe...
Despite my harsh words above, I harbor no ill-will towards you.
Your design is decent and you seem like a stand-up gal.
But I hate to say this...
You shouldn’t exist.
It was completely unnecessary from a storytelling POV to create a sibling for Chloe, and your mere presence will diminish the show.
I can say this with utmost confidence after looking at the situation from every conceivable angle...
Without even needing to watch your eps or know why you were created.
(Although, I have a pretty good idea)
Some people might say WELL GIVE HER A CHANCE!!!!
Hmm... no.
Everything the show needs to be successful with Chloe’s character...
It’s already right there.
She does not need a secret sibling
She does not require a sweeter counterpart
And she definitely DOESN’T need Thomas constantly bashing her to impressionable fans online like she’s the Antichrist personified!
Seriously dude, if you hate her so much why bother creating her?
And if you hate her so much... why spend so long talking about her?
Despite his repeated denials, I think something another user here said is very true...
She DOES live ‘rent free’ in his head.
It sickens him that, despite his best efforts, she still has so many fans.
Not to worry, Thomas.
From what I see, there are still plenty of sycophants who agree with everything you say (even if they actually don’t)
After all, it’s enough for some to get a reply from the ‘great man’ himself
Why jeopardize that by trying to engage with him in a meaningful debate?
Especially when we know how handsy he is with the ‘block’ button.
Anyway, this went on for about a thousand more words than I meant it to.
I guess me and Thomas have just ONE thing in common (Thank God)
This is a topic which we both feel VERY strongly about.
The differently is of course, I have far less power in the process, and preach to a much smaller audience.
Still, I won’t let that stop me ranting away like a loon.
Hey, if it’s good enough for him... ;)

'm loving everyone venting about Molly! Thanks! And I want to ask you how you imagined the finale was gonna be? I have this whole fanfic in my head about Molly realising he had a four leaf clover stuck in his hair and upon noticing it he would give it to Yasha. Then the M9 would deal with Trent and Molly would finally know how terrible of a person the dude was. And then the M9 would introduce Molly to everyone else they met and visit every place they left better than they found it.
that's so sweet!
it's weird, because while like every other molly fan, i've had thoughts on his resurrection and a fic series i'm working on, but i'd never really... thought about the end of the campaign, or what it might be like?
(ETA this ended up so long im so sorry i have a lot to say apparently and this isn't even all of it)
my biggest and most important thing: they are a family. they belong together. maybe they'll go off on their own for a while, or stay with their families, but the nein belong together.
for fjord... he spent so long trying to be someone else, and while he's learning how to be his own person now, he deserves closure on that part of himself. he deserves a last conversation with vandren, and then to move on, to explore new places, to find new goals for himself. there is so much for him now, the open sea with so much life and promise. he buys a ship, a new ship, all his own, not one borrowed or stolen from another, and jester paints its name, decorates its quarters, makes it a home. he wrangles the nein (yes, even veth, yes, even essek) into joining him, and they set sail, all nine of them, the way it couldn't be the first time. he shows molly the ropes, teaches essek how to navigate, and watches his crew, his friends, his family, learning from him, placing so much trust in him, letting him guide them, and sees how truly happy they are to be here with him. usually, the crew is him, jester, beau, and often molly and yasha, but sometimes he will leave for a time, entrusting the boat to orly. sailing isn't all he has now, there is more to see, to do, there are things for him on land now too, but the sea will always be home to him.
for jester... she deserves her happy fairytale ending. i think for a while she stays with her family, seeing her parents happily together, finally properly introducing her boyfriend, and just spending time with her mum in a way that she didn't get to so much when she was young. and then i think she travels, just for the sake of exploring, with no defined goal other than to sow the seeds of joy and chaos everywhere she walks. and as she travels, she begins to write. stories were homes to her as a child, and they're homes even now, for someone with such a powerful imagination. she writes of her adventures, of her friends, she writes of mystical and fantastical things, half of them real. she writes and writes, words and illustrations filling so many books, she gives them to beau, to yasha, passes them off as silly little things, as though they aren't brilliant works of art. all of the nein read her stories - yasha out loud to molly as she plays with his hair, caduceus and calliope in the quiet of their garden, caleb and essek by the light of their bedside table. and in time the stories reach others, scattered journals are copied and bound into books, and one day jester wanders a quiet, nameless town, and in the window of a bookshop she's never seen, embossed on the cover of a novel, there is a brilliant green door.
for caleb... oh man, he is a teacher. that is so perfect for him, and i've been thinking about it ever since his talk with luc. i think there's something so powerful about being the person he deserved when he was younger, about stepping into that position of power and authority and being so kind with it. he's so passionate about magic, and i think it's beautiful to see him come so far - from someone burned and traumatised and so convinced he was irredeemable, to someone who can take comfort in soft things, someone who some days, almost, almost believes he can be good. i think out of everyone, except perhaps veth, he stays home the most. he still adventures with the nein of course, and if there is ever a whisper of artefacts or hidden knowledge or some expedition or other, the nein are with him in an instant to investigate it. but more often than not he is home, making the empire a better place, keeping the fire warm for them.
for veth... i want her to learn that she is enough as she is. i want her to learn that she doesn't have to choose between wife, adventurer, mother. she is all of these things. i want her to accept that her transformation was not a return to her old self but becoming someone new. i think she goes home, as she promised, and i do think she stays there for a long while, a few years perhaps, making up for lost time. and she'll pretend that she's fine with that life, with staying home, with being a wife and a mother. but that isn't all she is, and eventually, with yeza's help, with the nein's help, she will accept that. she'll no longer see it as two lives, two identities. she'll be able to kill fearsome beasts and explore strange new lands with her friends without guilt or fear, and at the end of the day she'll go home and regale her husband and son with extraordinary tales of her and her friends' heroics (that may or may not be exaggerated).
for yasha... i want her to be happy and loved. she's come SO far, from someone running from her past, drowning in guilt and so unsure of herself, to someone strong and bold. i love that ashley said she would do little odd jobs - i think she would do that, go around helping people as they explore. like most of the others, i don't think she would truly settle down. i like to imagine she does have a house somewhere - maybe inspired by the clays, she has a home somewhere green, surrounded by flowers, somewhere quiet and calm and peaceful. a little cottage maybe, for her and beau, just somewhere to return to and feel safe, somewhere she can rest. but i think most of her time would be spent travelling, seeing all the wonderful beautiful things the world has to offer, being with her friends who love her for exactly who she is, who showed her that she was someone worthy of being loved, who taught her that it's possible for her to love herself.
for caduceus... i think, for a time, he rests. he's tired. not done, far from done, but tired. i think he stays with his family at the grove, tending to all the things that are now so vibrant and alive, feeling the walls he was so sure would crumble. but after a time, he would feel that he is supposed to leave. the grove is wonderful, and will always be his home, somewhere he will always return to, and i think throughout his life - throughout the nein's life, and of course they will come to rest there, after everything - he will come home, to tend to the garden, to watch over the temple while his siblings roam. i think he travels, too, but not so much to adventure. after everything he's been through i think he deserves some peace, and quiet. he travels all the lonely winding roads, all the quiet humming spaces, sees all the life in all the hidden corners. while several members of the nein travel with him, it's yasha that walks with him the most, happy to go at his pace, eager to share in that peace and wonder.
for molly... there is so much for him now. he is no longer covered in eyes, no longer has that weight on him, even if he does hold memories of it, in darker moments. he is him but brand new, able to forge himself into whoever he wants to be, and the nein give him so much space and so much time for that. i think he stays with the clays for a little while - while the others deal with trent, yasha, so so scared to lose him again, places all her trust in caduceus to take care of him. and when they return (to find him with freshly cut hair the same colours as his coat, and a particularly proud looking clarabelle), they just spend time with him, all the time they missed and more. fjord tells him of their journey, jester showing him her journal, giving him meaning for it all, and all the time yasha holds his hand, unwilling to ever let him go. it's hard, being gone for so long, and while he is so, so (embarrassingly) proud of his friends for all that they've gone through, and how much they've grown, it's also glaringly obvious that he can't keep up. he almost has it in mind to leave - he doesn't want to hold them back, and he can't help but wonder if he's really the molly they want - it's hard to live up to a memory, after all. and there is so much he's missed. they tell him he's a moron, obviously. he is their friend, and there is nothing they won't do for friends, and waiting, staying, is such a small thing to ask. beau trains him, at his insistence - she thinks it's a joke at first, tells him that she'd be a terrible teacher, just as she was a terrible student. she's wrong, of course, and molly grows stronger by the day. he has so many adventures with them, sailing the seas on fjord's ship, sowing chaos with jester, fighting side by side with beau. there is not a single day that he isn't with his friends, yasha most of all. they are with him through everything, though good days, so many good days, and through bad ones too. molly has so much time - time the nein have given him, as he once gave to them - to live, to love, to wander, to form new memories and experiences. to be everything he never had the chance to the first time, and so much more.
for beau... she is so, so scared at first. they saved the world. they stopped trent. they've done... everything they've set out to do. what's left? what's keeping them together? when molly tries to run it reminds her so much of how she felt before, how she thought to run, to leave them before they could leave her. he returns the favour, reminds her that they are family, reminds her that she has worth, and the nein want her to stay, that they keep her, just as they kept him. (she almost believes him, and definitely doesn't cry). she does so many things - she goes home with yasha once in a while, somewhere tranquil, somewhere to study and research, she travels with caduceus, learning to appreciate a slower pace and all the quiet contemplation and companionship it can offer, she travels with fjord, his first mate, his best mate, allowing someone she trusts to take the helm and lead her on adventures. and she studies - long gone are the days of pretending to turn her nose up at books - she is one of professor widogast's best (and most irritating) students, learning magic not to weave it herself but just to understand it, just learning for the sake of learning. when she confronts her father, fjord and caleb are there as they should be - fjord to talk, to use his words and his charm to help, caleb in quiet solidarity, a hand on her shoulder, just standing with her as she tears down her mentor, her abuser, and comes out stronger for it, just as she had been there for him. finally, she can put that behind her, and she stays with the soul, as their greatest expositor (though maybe one who never does their paperwork), rooting out corruption, seeking the truth, exploring new horizons.
for essek... he spends a long time waiting for the past to catch up to him. it doesn't. it already has, in a way, if only in his own mind, the once unfamiliar guilt that weighs heavily on his shoulders. it never goes away, not entirely, but time heals, and so does the presence of the rest of the nein, always in his life, for as long as they can be. though he and caleb have different goals, they overlap so neatly, and though essek has a place in his own homeland, he spends far, far more time living with caleb. he continues with his research, caleb and beau poring over his notes, sharing his excitement and passion. he doesn't go on adventures near as much as the others, preferring to stay home, but he visits them, in all their different homes scattered across the land - jester in nicodranas, the clays at the blooming grove, veth and her family on the outskirts of zadash, beau and yasha's cottage in a little forest near felderwin. he has homes scattered across the land, so many places he is always welcome, and while guilt never entirely leaves, nor does the knowledge that one day, of course, all this will end, he finds peace.
i guess the reason i've never thought about the campaign ending is because for me.. it doesn't, not really. the mighty nein are family, chosen family. they stay together, they find homes in each other, and they leave every place better than they found it.

Critical Role Miniature Rollout: C2E100
With Andrew Harshman
An archive and review of the minis used on Critical Role.
Tumblr media
It’s good to be pedantically analyzing Critical Role maps and miniatures again. The furniture placement on the lower decks is nearly identical to two episodes ago. Just like the audience and the Mighty Nein, this map has seemly been in stasis for months. But no more, the magnificent Mercer-led CR miniature machine is loose again, delighting us with narrative-driven, model-laden maps of the finest and highest entertainment value.
It has indeed been awhile, it’s time for Critical Role Miniature Rollout Campaign 2 Episode 100!

Dragon Turtle Reaper Bones 4 Dragon Turtle painted by Hanna Lampe @ Art_forArtsSake
In my Episode 99 post I successfully predicted that this Reaper model would be used. But that’s about all I got right. I was totally wrong about when the episode would be and who the painter was. I was delighted to learn that this was a Critter provided model. A highly impressive figure with a highly impressive paint job.
The way I see it, a good dragon turtle must be big enough to look like it could credibly threaten a large boat. This figure certainly does that. The plastic casting clarity looks good and the stability of the elevated base appears solid. As Sam remarked on, the sculpt does look more turtle than dragon. Reaper Miniatures could have make this more “dragony”.
My compliments again to painter Hanna Lampe. Great paint on this monster. The color scheme is natural and believable, giving this fantastical creature an air of realism often lost with more alien and stupendous palettes. The paint grounds this magic beast in reality, contributing to the threat and immersion.
The Nonplayer Characters
Tumblr media
Crew Person Pathfinder Battles Iconic Heroes Set 4 Jirelle half-elf swashbuckler
A buckler of the swash variety, Jirelle the iconic Pathfinder Icon, quite the mini. I’m not sure what’s more impressive, the overall prepainted quality of this model or her bangs. Vibrant paint and an engaging fencing pose. What more can one ask for in a swashbuckler miniature?
Closing Thoughts and Predictions
Tumblr media
It would appear that I have inadvertently gotten my wish, the Mighty Nein minis no longer have base flocking. On the left Fjord in Episode 98 and 100 on the right. The color of the character’s bases correspond to the color of the character portraits. I would guess the flocking was removed so the players can more easily identify the colors at a distance. The new social distancing compliant studio setup has the players further away from the table.
What exciting maps and miniatures does next session have instore? A volcano island surely calls for some Dwarven Forge Hellscape. I would bet we will get some in the near future. As for this Vokodo character, I am as equally intrigued as I am clueless about who or what he could be. Excited to find out and if it comes to it, also find out what miniature will be used to represent him.

[Spoilers C2E98]
*Turn back now if ye have not seen the lastest episode!*
*Do it. Seriously.*
*Ya gonna want turn around now, not kidding.*
They’d tried, the diamond had floated above Fjord’s chest, flickering with green light only for it to turn grey and dull, falling to their friends bleeding chest before burning away to ash, he’d learned.
He’d been brought back with little resistance, Marius letting out a loud a sigh of relief as he and Yasha pulled the Tortle into a seated position. Jester had latched onto the Tortle, joyous tears pouring down her face even as she couldn’t bring herself to look over at Caduceus and Fjord’s body, the Firbolg staring at the sky with a muted expression.
Orly started, “Hey there Chere, wh-.”
He froze when he spotted the Captain.
Splayed across the deck, several gaping stab wounds in his chest, his blood being washed away by the hammering rain. His head was rested in Beau’s lap, who had her head down and was visibly crying, her tears mingling with the water already pouring down her face. Caleb stood several feet back, staring into the waves beyond, his face hard, his eyes searching, hunting. Fire briefly crackling across the tips of his fingers. Not-Veth was kneeling beside Jester, rubbing her arms comfortingly as she sobbed into his wide chest. Yasha loomed above Fjord, her head turned upwards towards the sky, a flash of lightning illuminating her entire face.
“We can’t fix this tonight.” Caduceus had finally muttered, his normally calm and warm voice more dejected than the old Tortle had ever heard. The others had all turned to look at him, except Jester who had begun to cry harder.
“But we can fix this.”
A single beetle flitted free of the Firbolg’s staff, landing on Fjord’s forehead and sitting there a green ripple of energy passing across his whole body.
Yasha had carried Fjord’s body down into the lower quarters of the ship, past the rest of the crew who looked terrified and confused. Jester had detached from Orly and was now wrapped around Beau, who hugged her back tightly, both women failing to hold back their tears. Veth had grabbed Caleb’s hand and lead him after them. Caduceus had remained on the deck, that tornado of beetles that still swarmed about, consuming what remained of the beasts that had killed the Captain. He waited for Orly to pass, supported by Marius and then made his way below.
The Nein piled into Jester’s room, laying Fjord’s body down on the bed. The insisted that the crew join them in the room as cramped as it would be, Marius, Gallen and the Newbie had grabbed their things and curled into a corner. Caduceus had sat in a corner facing the bed, slowly, fitfully falling to sleep sitting up. Veth, Beau and Jester had curled into a ball next to the bed, the other women wrapping around Jester protectively. Caleb had threaded a wire across the door, but he and Yasha had not entered the room. They sat sentinel outside of the door, and Orly heard them speak quietly throughout part of the night as he fought for sleep.
Scrabbling on the side of the ship, the tortured scream invading his dreams, the blade finding his flesh
He awoke the next day to clear skies and found that Gallen had taken the helm, while the Nein were arrayed on the deck
He walked up onto the deck and saw Fjord lying on the deck his head resting on Jester’s lap, his sword lying across his chest, Beau off to his right and Caduceus to his left. The rest of the Nein stood with solemn expressions.
Caduceus produced a larger diamond and began to chant, green light shining as the diamond began to float, sigils of green, and pink and blue burning their way across the deck, the sents of fresh tea, sugary pastries and old grapes drifting on the wind.
Beau spoke first, “You told me…you wanted to stay with us. That we had to stay together. That you wanted to repay the favor for helping you find your path. You’re invested…and so am I but I don’t think I can do this without you here. So you had better come back, Captain.”
She laughed slightly, tears running down her face. She reached out and placed her hand over his heart.
Caduceus spoke next, “This isn’t your time. You changed, you started to find your path and this is nowhere near done. There is no closure here. She has plans for us, and I want you there to see them. Come back to us.”
He sighed softly, looking towards the sky and then placed his hand over Beau’s.
Jester spoke last, a smile on her face and tears in her eyes as her fingers traced through his hair.
“We talked once about how the prettiest things often hurt you the most, but I never thought I would hurt this much. You, heh, you were my first friend after the Traveler and I…I…I can’t even begin to imagine what my life would be like without you now. So please, please Fjord, come back.”
The colors began to swirl, and in the moment the others moved in, Veth placing a hand on Jester’s shoulder, Caleb Beau’s, Yasha Cad’s, and at that moment Orly felt a compulsion to play like he never had before.
He immediately began to play his pipes, the music taking on an almost ethereal sound as it echoed across the waves. He stared down at Fjord’s form as the light continued to shine.
“This group ain’t the same without you Cap’n, come on back now.”
