weird mile thought that just occurred to me: so mile has said he'd been asked to take other bl roles before right? and never really expressed any hesitation about taking one - like he was confident that it'd be his choice even though he wasn't a known actor, hadn't ever had an actual acting role before? and i was wondering at like this casual assumption that he'd be able to do a role, like he was almost deigning to take it rather than being insecure or worried about being good enough. and while i realize some of that is just mile (and the life experience of being rich and good-looking lol) i think some of it probably would also have been to do with the kinds of things he'd been offered?

i was thinking: someone described mile as kind of like a thai kim kardashian because he previously was sort of famous for being basically a rich socialite-type. and one thing you learn about thai bl shows if you pay even a little attention is that they love a cameo guest role from other bl actors or cps. there are always these little moments where some random encounter with a walk-on background character in a bl show seems to be dragged out a bit and given a confusing amount of time and significance where later you'll see everyone going crazy in the chat "omg it was so&so from last year's drama! they were the couple at the fashion show!!!" etc etc.

so how likely is it that the "roles" mile was offered were of that kind - attempts to take advantage of his celebrity and followers to bump the viewership of a bl drama with a cameo turn by "extremely handsome restaurant patron mile" or "extremely handsome businessman mile " or maybe even "extremely handsome suave beach-goer mile"?

it just seems very likely, considering how celebrity can function and also mile's kind of supreme confidence about picking and choosing from among offers.

but what i love, and what i realized might have been a little bit of an "f* you" on mile's part for the implied assumption that he maybe couldn't pull off a real role, is that he decided to go in and actually audition for kinnporsche when he heard about it, not for some kind of gravy star cameo, but for the full leading role, when he hadn't acted before.

like we all laugh that he heard it was based on himself and saw a chance that apo might be involved and jumped at it, but seriously. seriously, think: if kim kardashian one day just decided to audition for a genuine movie/tv role in idk succession or something - not a gimmick part, not a walk-on as "herself" - what would the reaction be??

do you think most celebrities could handle a full lead role like that? just ... decide to do it, and then not only pull it off, but do a brilliant job?

just, with all the sort of interpersonal stuff with daemi that's been sort of an avoided discussion and the way mile has said he'd read yok's work before, i'm speculating that going for a much bigger and more demanding role than maybe what he'd been offered before was a way for mile to make a kind of statement of his own, staking his own worth as an actor not just some 'pretty face with nice tits' (which is kind of how i feel like sometimes the whole cast got treated by the writers)

and that fills me anew with a kind of gleeful appreciation for his style and boldness.

SHURIRI! CUPID AU

the fantasy shuriri fic is still in the works so.... cupid! shuriri au hcs!

soft wings fluttering; like the beating hearts they crave. cupids don't exist. but if they do it's because humans made them so. those little, curious, fragile beings witnessed entities that sprouted wings and could pinpoint your hearts desires--follow the trail of your fate to its end. thus the cupids were named.

a cupid's eye could see everything. and they were coveted so humans could be guided towards riches, love, family, and more. but this exchange wasn't one sided. those blackened eyes only see what they wish to consume. and by following a human to their end, they consume the extreme emotions that arise frm such a journey. a mother's grief, thick like syrup, a child's endless rage that suffocated the soul. but the feeling that was most plentiful, was the many colors of love. a cupid could live forever on the love a human.

as you can imagine, love becomes lucrative as the world turns from page to screen--the L. corp is at the top of this booming industry. guaranteeing satisfaction for any human that signs onto its love program

riri williams signs up, on the eve of her 25th birthday. not because she wanted to, but because she decided to grant her family peace of mind this year. pretending to be a functioning person with an active social life was an easy enough sacrifice if it means her mom wouldn't worry so much.

riri williams has no plans on actually going through with the program. she skims the dating contract-- scoffing at the bubblegum pink text promising life-long satisfaction. she knew well that it was no good getting comfortable with anything in life. good things don't just last. not without sacrifice.

the minute everything is signed, riri low key forgets all about the whole ordeal. only remembering to bring it up to her mom during their nightly calls, (she had to send the contract to the family gc to prove she wasn't bluffing) before promptly forgetting it again.

it was late at night. riri had passed out at her desk when she feels a sudden chill. she wakes, to see a shadow, black and spiked, getting closer--towering over her.

she screams, throwing lamps, throwing chairs, until eventually the lights come on. she woke up one of her roommates, miles with the commotion.

shuri thinks the whole ordeal is funny. ( tall, short locs and an undercut, long purple athletic track suit-dress, and the blackest, fluffiest wings, all black eyes, and teeth that look a little too long) she thinks humans are really cute and interesting. she EXPECIALLY thinks riri is cute, but she doesn't get to say this since she's promptly kicked out once riri realizes why she's there.

no meet cute :( riri is sleepy and mad and stubborn from the get go because how dare you fulfil the contractual agreement i agreed to

(to be fair shuri didnt need to come at that time she just doesnt have a good grasp of time and was excited to be finally assigned to a human)

speaking of shuri. she's not supposed to be there. she signed up for the company w/o telling her family. wakanda is already a secluded society, but the "cupids" (they're not even called that over there but whetever) are notoriously hard to get in contact since they practice restraint in consuming human emotions.

(shuri's in love with eating love... )

anyway we get shuri helping riri put her life together!!family bonding, riri reconecting with her sister and clearing up misunderstandings. riri being bullied into noticing people in her life who have always wanted to reach out to her but she never noticed bc she was always stuck on work. riri unpacking the truama that came from being expected to act older than her age because of the opportunties her talent gave her and finally reconnecting with her child side and having some fun

and suprising enough riri doesnt hate shuri anymore???like they're friends(some would suspect even more than that) but riri is careful not to get too close to the creature. afterall at the end of their contract shuri will have to leave anyway....

except shuri doesnt???leave? turns out to fufil the contract before the time limit riri has to revive her nonexistent love life and for some reason shuri is just...actively sabatoging her????like nothing world ending, but it becomes beyond obvious...eventually...

well it becomes obvious for shuri that is riri takes a minute to catch onto the fact that her cupid has a giant crush on her

sadly riri isn't the only one who finds out and thats when shuri and riri gotta fight for their lives against big bad corporation + societal norms in order to go on lil coffee dates

I don't usually send asks because I'm awkward potato but I'm also really interested in your Azalea/next gen fics. I see your point about Azalea's schedule. I gotta say though I find it really sad and funny that the reason for that is because of Mammon 😂 Dude would literally forget to keep his promise of going to her important events and now she doesn't bother telling him 🤦‍♀️ Can't break a promise if he didn't make one but also still fucks it all up akdjsjfjdf. If I was her I would've disowned him as my father. I would've waited until I was a legal adult, moved out, and cut him off for good. I'm aware it's not that easy but I wouldn't waste my time chasing after the love and attention of someone who doesn't seem to value me as a person and as his daughter. I know you have an explanation for that but I'm talking more from Azalea's point of view. I don't know, I think I'd ask another one of the brothers to adopt me even if they don't and call them dad just to spite Mammon while calling him old man 😂

Their relationship now is just Mammon constantly sticking his damn foot in his mouth and saying the wrong thing and Azalea taking it the wrong way lmao but also its really sad bc they used to be so close before Mahlon was born.

And I think that’s ultimately what keeps her from disowning Mammon as her father. Its kind of like a “I love you, but you need to get your head out of your ass so things can go back to how they used to be” type of situation.

And like he does try. I have a wip from last summer saved in my drafts somewhere on word set between I Think I’m OKAY and 30 Miles North that was supposed to address Azalea not letting her parents know about an important school function (i think it was like a decathlon or something I can’t remember anymore) but Mammon managing to find out anyway and showing up to it without her knowing and Azalea being so surprised to see him in the crowd she ends up being so distracted that she loses a large amount of points for the team.

Anyway you could imagine how that might go.

Azalea’s character arc doesn’t really have a happy ending and its been something I’ve been quietly trying to “foreshadow” or “allude” to in fics that feature her ever since I posted the Dangers of the Human World (I’m sorry I’ve been trying to think of better terms bc those doesn’t quite fit but I can’t think of any)

Once you see Azalea and Mammon’s relationship start to get better you’ll know that her story arc is almost at its end.

Anyway, as far as asking one of the brothers to adopt her, that’s kind of already happened with Lucifer. Like Azalea never really came out and straight up asked Lucifer to adopt her but she does consider him less like her uncle and more like her second father since he’s the one she seeks approval from the most and she’ll go to him if she’s in need of advice.

She’s also called him dad once when she was like 13 but it felt weird and the both of them just agreed to never speak of it again.
