Baymax! Episode 4
Mbita is the name, he's the "Just Fish Soup" truck guy. The sign behind this guy, Yukio, is called Del Vecho Farms which is a reference to Peter Del Vecho who worked on Big Hero 6 as well as various other Disney animations.
Tumblr media
The thing about Mbita is that he has an allergic reaction, the thing is, that the thing he's allergic to is...fish. The whole thing he runs his shop around. Now that's interesting. Also, he's stationed in a park full of food trucks including one that's specifically for PB&J.
Tumblr media
Baymax effectively chases the customers all away. But we all know Baymax WILL help you, whether you like it or not. Mbita's family is in the fish business so him not being able to do this makes him feel like he's letting them down. There's also a running theme that it's literally only fish soup, he won't sell anything else because it's tradition but this basically forces him to. I think this is a really good way to show it, (though they could've showed the family and stuff) because of this spoon.
Tumblr media
It breaks.
Tumblr media
After the credits, Hiro says Baymax smells like fish, there's an Ultraman helmet on his desk but I don't think that's the first time we've saw it.

I watched the Baymax series yesterday finally, and the Cass episode is the one I was most excited for and it did not disappoint.
Since the movie, I always wondered about Cass, since her feelings and emotions were barely ever talked about (either that or I've just never seen anyone talk about her) and when I heard about the series and this episode I was excited to see this side of her character, and it did not disappoint.
The line: "I promised to take care of this family" honestly hit hard, because this brings back a little more on the movie too, because she must've made that promise when she lost her sister and brother-in-law, and than, her nephew died only a few month or so (or a year maybe?) prior to that moment.
From my point of view, the line didn't just point to her worry about the Café and her customers, or her worry about financial stability, but to the fact that she had made a promise, and must've felt like she broke it/ couldn't keep it when she lost Tadashi (which must've hit her hard, not in the same way as Hiro, of course, but I'm inclined to say just as hard, because she raised these boys, c'mon), and than started pushing herself even harder for Hiro (and Baymax).
Seeing the kindness you have shown to others be returned in kind is one of the most emotional and beautiful things, and her customers being patient with Baymax so they could make sure she would get better was such a touching moment.

Anyone else still sobbing over Kiko shoving Baymax and Sofia into the vent, closing it, and throwing herself on top of it to try and shield them when the building was going to be demo'd? No? Just me? Ok then

I wanted to talk about the miniseries baymax! too because I LOVED IT (disclaimer: my English it'll be maaybe a little bit broken sorry)
first of all I literally cried since the first short, I was really touched when kiko told baymax about her dead husband and the first thing that came to my mind was "now baymax knows how to help the duel of losing someone important because of hiro"
second of all: the short Sofía, YOU DONT KNOW HOW MUCH I LOVE THAT SHORT, for me, a trans man, this short means a lot for me, and not just because of the trans representation but because of how they touched the first period, it was so wholesome that I literally cried AND THEN I cried MORE because of hiro in the post credits my God that kid loves that robot and so I love them both
AND DONT MAKE ME START WITH THE 6TH SHORT I missed hiro so much he's literally one of my comfort characters of all time and this short just made my little heart happy, when he was so nervous talking to kiko about baymax and then him hitting (edit: I meant tapping! TT) anxiously the window when they were searching for baymax just reminded me why I loved that character so much
I have a lot more to say about baymax! but my broken English don't let me express how I want so yeah! If you haven't seen baymax yet and you love bh6 you'll love this mini series! even tho there's no heros or the original gang present :( I hope this series goes well so we can see more of this characters!!

I finally watched baymax! Don Hall and Disney did an amazing job with the spinoff! I just love that baymax finally understands jokes now unlike the series. And the way Baymax tried to help kiko with her false water phobia got me. I'm very please with the LGBT+ representation withe the trans person with the tampons and mbita dating Yukio. And the finale was amazing. I like the bit of tensions they added when Baymax ran out of battery in a building set for demolition. Oh and one more thing. Never try to hide your injuries to Baymax or try to escape his care. Baymax knows everything.
My in depth review of Baymax! is coming soon!

I just watched the Baymax! series and it is one of the most wholesome things ever I love it so much!! The sweet wholesome-ness, the diversity, inclusiveness, the open conversations about periods & emotions, the trans guy buying pads, the queer characters, the cats, the animation- all of it!

you guys mentioned crying in the sofia and baymax episodes? i was crying during the kiko episode when it addressed her dead husband 😭 like the grief mentions again??? dealing with therapy and grief was baymax's first job for hiro. and i just think tadashi would be so proud since he designed him to be comforting. also you can't convince me that tadashi has never helped that lady before he died, i mean she literally lives across from the hamadas

"hiro shows up at the end of every short." WHAT
Yeah, at the end of each short there's like 30 seconds or so of credits, and then there's a small moment of Hiro arriving home and finding Baymax in his charger with an item related to that short.

Baymax! Episode 5
Yachi...who is actually a wild cat. How they actually know that Yachi is its name, I'm not really sure, Baymax never refers to it as such, it's just the title. The thought crossed my mind whether Baymax could be multiple professionals like a vet considering it wouldn't be humans he was taking care of. The cat sees someone eating sushi which is naturally drawn to it. The thing is, that wasn't the only thing on the plate, there was also an air pod and it swallows it.
Cats can't say "Ow" but they can say "Meow". Baymax recognizes that cats can't talk so when he hears a voice coming from the cat's stomach, he puts two and two together.
Tumblr media
The creators really like their Stitch references. Kitties have claws which Baymax soon realizes when he keeps getting holes. The cat eventually leads him to the warehouse. Yes, THE warehouse. (The one that Baymax led Hiro to in the movie and they discovered the microbots.)
Tumblr media
There's a new symbol on the door though, I wish I had a way to search for that but I have no idea what it means. That cat's a hairy baby alright. Baymax runs out of battery and he reveals a plug in his foot, so he no longer needs the special charger in case of emergencies, he's got a backup. There's also a little emblem on that charger but they don't zoom in enough to see it BUT this ends on that cliffhanger so this will be continued in the next episode!

Finally finished watching Baymax! and my feelings on the episodes range between being horrified to being in love lol.
Starting with the one that I really didn't like: Kiko. Which is a shame because I expected that one to be my favorite!! The thing is, Baymax's "aggressive cuddly" really rubbed me the wrong way in that ep. She made it clear she didn't want medical assistance, he pushed her multiple times, got wayyyy past her boundaries, probably hurt her once or twice (namely the water hose!), and tricked her into going to the pool center. Even if her issue really was phobia, she had EVERY RIGHT to say no. There are other types of physiotherapy beyond hydrotherapy and you don't have to get over your phobia if you don't want to. Even if it's not trauma but grief, she also has no *need* to share it or force herself to get over her grief in regards to that place. Sometimes you really do stop going places you enjoyed bc of the person you lost and that's okay. She literally just didn't leave because she was physically unable to do it. And while ofc it helped her and most of it was played for laughs, I was. so angry tbh. I'm a doctor and if my patient says no or refuses medical treatment/assistance IT IS VERY MUCH THEIR RIGHT TO DO SO. Not to mention how it bugs me personally that Baymax's programming didn't give Kiko a choice. I'd be wanting to pop him as much as she did! She almost injured herself trying to make him stop!
Aunt Cass's episode bordered that line for me, but that actually felt wholesome most of the time. Baymax is a part of her family so I can get behind the shenanigans... But as much as I want, I cant force my family members to do things they can't when it comes to their health. Believe me, I want to just pick them up and make them do the things that are good for their health too! I get it lmao. I probably would have thought the episode was just fine if Baymax didn't force her to go up every time, and instead just caught or chastised Cass when he saw her after the first few times (Cass just waving him off as he keeps telling her she needs to rest works just as well with the story and Cass can y'know. Not be manhandled around). Still, it was a really sweet episode that I'll enjoy watching again, unlike Kiko.
Mbita's and Yachi's were pretty middle of the road-- perfectly good eps. The action in Mbita's felt a little forced imo, but I enjoyed seeing a little of Big Hero 6!Baymax in that ep! Yachi's was more wholesome, though the making of the fake rat part took me out of it lol. Still enjoyed them tho!
The last ep is probably my favorite, though in terms of Baymax just doing what he was meant to do, Sofia's was easily the best. Baymax didn't push her at all, helped her with her period-- something she actually wanted help with, and didn't try to drag her out of her little hideout because "its normal so you can continue with your daily routine". He made her feel more confident in herself, and was overall perfect. Definitely glad this one is getting the love it deserves! I love that he takes care of her physical problem and the emotional impact it has on her- I had some lovely teachers in med school (really wish they weren't the minority OTL) that hammered into my head that the patient is more than just the illness, you have to look at them as more than just a body with a problem to be fixed, and instead as a PERSON who needs your HELP. 10/10 episode.
Overall a really cute series, which I hope gets a sequel! Just more eps like Sofia's and less like Kiko's, pls <3
