Today I will be breaking down Kagurabachi's Chihiro’s age and why he’s a great 18 yr old protagonist and acts his age. Please forgive if my current DC brain rot bleeds into this.
I think Chihiro’s core can attributed to growing up being loved and respected by his parents. One of the first conversations is Kunishige telling Chihiro if he wants to be a blacksmith like him and carry the burden of the role’s consequences, “…If that’s how you feel, all that’s left, is for me to believe in you.” I think when you grow up with a loving parent like that, that loving voice is always in your head. He reminds me of that joke that the reason Superman is so good is because both of his parents loved him unconditionally. But who do we get when you have loving parents who get killed in a traumatic way in front of you? Batman, hi! Hi, Batman! Hi! AKA “that nut from Gotham city” and Chihiro already has such a reputation. Not as a psycho, but he’s deemed dangerous and strong. He’s someone to keep an eye out for now. He’s been underestimated before this arc because of his age.
I personally think that had Kunishige never been murdered, Chihiro wouldn’t had ever chosen to wield a blade unless it came to a time of war. But he adapted to the idea easily because he’s been preparing himself his whole life to be responsible for deaths as a blacksmith. What’s the difference anyways when you’re the wielder? Probably a lot, but you’re a teenager and want one thing, and it’s the right thing in your mind so let’s just start moving.
He has assigned himself the responsibility to get the katanas back and get revenge, and he’s very set on it in a one track, 18 yr old way. When Char got taken, his mind was on getting her back. When Sojo was doing his shit, his mind was on taking him down. Then he immediately moves back into getting back the katanas, not really taking time to process literally losing a limb after already not fully healing from a hospital visit. He’s reckless with his physical health- typical for his age.
Older characters around him also treat him his age. Shiba doesn’t really leave him out of his sight if we’re real about it. He lets him fight on his own trusts that he has a handle on things because he knows him and probably trained him. He would’ve gone in during the first fight with Sojo had Azami not stopped him. He is willing to hop in when things get bad, and he will always be there to catch him, but overall, he knows he’s old enough to handle physical strain. Still, there’s that famous moment in the train at the beginning where Shiba does warn Chihiro all the hatred he’s been carrying is “…gonna break you.”
Chihiro asks in return, “So you wanna stop me?” And neither of them says anything and continue to go about their mission. Shiba respects Chihiro and his choices, understands he’s an adult and this is what he wants, but he looks out for him because at the end of the day, he’s still eighteen. And his best friend’s baby.
We also have Azami who summoned the Kamunabi because although he he’s been told Chihiro can fight, he also knew that he had never fought another enchanted blade wielder before and knew the city damage could get crazy. In a way, I think it was also a way to keep an eye on him because he doesn’t want him to get hurt, either. Azami has been proven to be sentimental with his phone lockscreen. He kept Chihiro’s existence a secret because until KB’s starting point, he was a child. He’s barely an adult, and Azami who hadn’t seen him in a while, is still like I guess he can handle it, if Shiba says and then absolutely not.
FINAL POINT SORRY THIS IS 867 WORDS: Chihiro treats children well. He talks to children in a way kids like to be talked to but rarely are because honestly, kids aren’t seen as real people at times. Kids say crazy things, but he still took time to feed and talk to Char and take her seriously even before they were attacked. The same thing just happened in today’s chapter. He gets down to their level, listens to them in the way his father listened to him, and he goes along with what they want while making sure they’re not going to die.
Chihiro was shown to have been a responsible child and he had to grow up quick to be able to accomplish his goals. In a way, an indirect goal of his is to protect the innocent- children. He knows what it’s like to be a defenseless child and to have nobody run to your aid, so he acts the most rational when other people’s lives are on the line. And when it all falls on his life, he lets himself get a little bit reckless because that’s just what allegedly blood thirsty 18 yr old boys do. I’ll come back to the allegedly later.

Okay Tolkien’s “resumé” of the end of the book here gives some fascinating insights
“But Frodo cannot be healed. For the preservation of the Shire he has sacrificed himself, even in health, and has no heart to enjoy it. Sam has to choose between love of master and of wife. In the end he goes with Frodo on a last journey.”
He sacrificed himself…but has no heart to enjoy it… :-C TT~TT

No wonder the ending is so haunting. Is it death? Is it healing? It’s both, and it’s neither, and it’s incredibly mythical and storybook-ish. Holy cow.

Karen - an actual female - having a hint of a personality and character that isn't bland "Girlboss".
THE BAD
Still no compelling Female Characters
Still consequence free drug abuse by female characters
Daisy Jones is a raging Narcissistic psychopath
Camilla literally ignoring her spouses discomfort with another woman and forcing her on him only to resent him and their closeness, when it was Camilla who forced them together in the fucking first place. Then taking zero responsibility for her actions in the future.
Literally every female character dismissing Billy's struggles to stay sober and chalking it up to ego.
The Lesbian Plot: Some say a waste of time, others ... a massive waste of time.
THE VERDICT
I swear to Christ, I think the writers are scared to write dynamic female characters. Karen and Camilla have no personality whatsoever. Camilla has gone from a very likeable person to really whiny and self-pitying when her isolation and loneliness is mostly her own fault. Which would be fine, interesting even, if the show actually called her out on it. Instead we're somehow supposed to feel sorry for her when she's the one that orchestrated Billy and Daisy's affair in the first place by ignoring her husband's spot-on instincts to stay away from Daisy.
In fact the oncoming break up of "Daisy Jones and the Six" could be attributed exclusively to the female characters ignoring and dismissing Billy Dunne, believing that somehow by the power of Vagina they're given divine wisdom. There is a dangerous level of Toxic Femininity in this show that is literally placing time bombs all around the group, and yet, the writers want us to believe that somehow the female characters are doing the right thing, because, " women supporting other women" is more important than the well being and mental health of their family.
And yeah, Daisy Jones might be one of the most dangerously narcissistic and unhinged characters in television. She doesn't take criticism, she acts like a child, she's violent, disrespectful, and the cruelty of which she goes about trying to not only break down Billy's mental health but actively tear apart his family is fucking psychotic. Which, once again, would be interesting, if the show actually portrayed it as bad. Instead, we're supposed to root for this nut job?
Daisy Jones is literally a Batman villain. She's a hardcore psychotic with a tragic backstory that is trying to prove to Billy (Batman) that he's just as fucked up as she is, and will go to any length to prove it.
There are elements that I really dig. I love Sam Claflin's character work, I really love the chemistry and relationship between Graham and Karen, and the music and the in-depth depiction of the process step-for-step of writing to recording was really awesome. But the flaws in the engineering of the story, especially the tip-toeing around giving the female characters tangible flaws - not the ones that poor writing has inherently given them - is really weighing the show down.

(William's POV)
I watched my creation walk around playing with children. He was. I did not know why I felt things for this animatronic. But something about him and the way he moved. It was effortless for him. He was my favorite creation. As soon as his eyes open when he had been made I knew I wanted him. I watched as he worked hard. I then see Henry call him over and he excuses himself. Walking over to Henry.
My eyes narrow on him. Henry made him laugh made his movable smile wide and his eyes clothes. The vision of beauty. Henry took his robotic hand and kisses it and I swear if he could blush he be scarlet. I clench my fists more and set my jaw this would not do.
I saw Charlie, Henry daughter go outside. A dark smirk covers my face and I sneak out back. I grabbed my knife and stabbed her repeatedly in the chest . She cried and I slashed her throat. That will teach Henry from getting near what is mine.
I clean up and then head to parts and services. Time To teach (Name) my sweet (Name) that he is mine. I waited and as he walked in I turn him into frozen mode. He could not move.
"You been a bad boy (Name)." I tell him and his eyes follow me. "I am going have to make a few minor updates to your programming."
He struggled to speak. "Yo-You-You c-c-can-ca-cant." He struggles to say and I grab his chin forcing him to look at me.
"I can my dear (Name). I Made YOU. You BELONG To ME!" I kiss him and then put him into sleep mode we have a lot of work to do.

The premise of this blog is me writing down how I rescued ants from the water bowl we have outside for the cats.
I made this blog for my mental health. The loss of my mom really hurts so instead of being a hermit, I'm going to go outside more often and help out the ants.
I'm not going to have videos or photos of the rescue itself because waiting to get the perfect shot WILL result in the loss of more ants.
Before you suggest putting rocks in a container then putting water in it, understand that my dad won't allow it. He just doesn't understand.
Also, I won't be at my house on the weekends so I can't rescue them, unfortunately.
If there are cats around for the rescue, I will have them in the tags. The list of the cats WILL update as they come around.

The cats:
Angel: a white cat with some very light grey on their head. I don't know their gender so I'm not going to assume. They're skittish and often, I confuse them for Ice Cream, until I see the light grey patch. I named them "Angel" after the name my mom had for Ice Cream.
Callie: a Calico with the markings of a tabby. She is one of Cream's children and just like her mother, is very skittish. I like to call her "Baby Callie".
Ice Cream: a white cat with some patches of a very light cream color. She is often a mother and she's very skittish. I often call her "Cream".
Maybear: a cat with tabby markings and a very odd coloration. She is a very friendly kitty, well, friendly to people, not to other cats. I haven't seen her around often due to the Texas heat. I don't have any nicknames for her other than "Kitty".
Scarface: an orange tabby cat with what looks like scars on his face. He's very skittish and he doesn't like fighting at all. I named him "Scarface" after the puppet in Batman, as well as because he has scars on his face.
Size Big Nuts: a pure black cat with giant nuts. He's semi friendly, meaning, sometimes, he doesn't want to be pet at all, and other times, he'll try hogging all of the love. I often call him "Big Nuts" for short. My dad was the one who named him.
Tux: a black cat with a white belly, chest, chin, and his paws are white. One of his balls are white as well. He's skittish, definitely wants people to keep their distance. I named him "Tux" because it looks like he's wearing a tuxedo.
Two-Face: a mostly black cat with a split down her face, one side being black, the other being orangeish. She's semi friendly, meaning, she'll approach you if she wants love. One of the fiercer cats to her own species. I have no nicknames for her but, I did name her Two-Face after the Batman villain.

#9 The Ghost at Dawn’s House: Chapter 2
Dawn gets spooked by her old farmhouse.
Dawn starts out by comparing she and Sharon to Felix and Oscar from The Odd Couple. But while Sharon isn't a slob like Oscar (I beg to differ), she's hardcore absent-minded (which I don't remember Oscar being) and a total pothead. Dawn also claims she's neat...yeah, that changes later on. Though I guess anyone's a slob when they're living with Richard and Mary Anne. At this point, Dawn doesn't think Sharon and Richard will end up together because she's too busy working. Shake a leg, you matchmaker!
This is also the book with the hedgeclippers in the living room. Was Sharon trying to mow the carpet?
Dawn runs out into the barn to look for Jeff to help her with dinner and while she's wondering if people have died there (as you do), Jeff jumps out and scares her.
They make a dinner of salad with cottage cheese, pineapple, peaches, and coconut topping and heat up a vegetable casserole, which they always seem to eat in earlier books. In this book, Dawn says they're just health food nuts and she’s not a militant vegetarian like she becomes later on.
Anyway, the house was built in the 18th century (the year changes from book to book) and Dawn is convinced the house has a secret passage. Claudia lent her a Nancy Drew book, The Hidden Staircase, which put the idea in her head. Holy foreshadowing, Batman!
Sharon appears, startling Dawn yet again. For someone who reads a lot of ghost stories, she's on edge a lot! Sharon takes off her glasses and places them in an empty butter dish (empty because she used it all to grease the driveway last time she was high I'm guessing) and they go outside to have dinner with Jeff. But have to go inside right afterwards because it starts thunderstorming! D'oh!
So what does Dawn do at night when there's a thunderstorm outside? Why, read only the hottest ghost book in Stoneybrook! She said she was on the waiting list for it. It's called Ghosts and Spooks, Chills and Thrills: Stories NOT to Be Read After Dark. And no, it's not a real book. Anyway, as Dawn's reading “The Hand of the Witch,” the lights flicker and she freaks out and thinks there's poltergeists in the house.
A window rattles (because, you know, it's windy outside) and then Dawn hears a tap on the wall and she screams bloody murder. Sharon comes in and calms Dawn down. Houses moan when they settle, it's windy out, of course the electricity's flickering in their old house. She tells Dawn to put the book away and go to bed and she leaves to go back to her Pink Floyd album and secret stash. Dawn immediately switches some lights on and it takes her hours to fall asleep because she thinks she hears someone moaning. It's probably Charlie and Janine in the Secret Passage.

3) Favorite musical artist / group you started listening to this year?
So the thing about me is no matter what, I barely listen to all the songs of a single artist. But I did listen to more than just the 3 songs I already did by Olivia Rodrigo, and I liked all of them a lot. Other candidates are Reckless Love and Breezy Supreme
10) Something that made you cry this year?
The ending of The Batman (2022), specifically the “people need hope” monologue. It really hit hard to finally see a Batman adaptation really understand the importance of hope to Bruce and his character. Also then I checked my email during the credits and found out I was accepted into grad school lol
25) Did you create any characters (in games, art, or writing) this year? Describe one
god, so many. I’ll talk about Rohan tho bcs he’s my special guy
So, Rohan Khan is for my fps concept, Elysium. He’s the child of immigrants to the US, and turned 18 just around when the US was joining World War II. He enlisted as soon as he was able to, knowing that joining the military and the benefits that come from being a veteran were the most likely way he’d be able to make something of himself and because he wanted to take a stand against the Nazis. He ended up being a flying ace, but got shot down and severely burned in the wreckage of his plane. While he should have died, his life was saved by Oswald Ambrose, a doctor from an island called Elysium, and he was outfitted with ridiculously advanced prosthetics that were also from Elysium. The two of them became closer, and Ambrose invited Rohan to come to Elysium and join the island’s council, as well as be closer to the technologies that keep him alive. Rohan accepted on the condition that his childhood friend (also secret girlfriend) Cynthia Morandi-Hyun get ti come as well. The members of the council are granted immortality, so he’s technically a hundred but only looks like he’s in his 40s
Personality wise, Rohan’s a person that’s very loyal and determined, but also very stubborn. He definitely has some undiagnosed PTSD, and he has a tendency to push away others in part from that and some of his hypervigilance. He is very close and affectionate with Cynthia, though. He’s a little bit of a complicated case in a lot of ways because while he is very loyal to Ambrose, he’s having some doubts about him too, especially because he’s been failed in a lot of ways by Ambrose and the whole system that Elysium has. I want to touch with his storyline on how veterans are often heralded as heroes in the US, but they rarely get the institutional support they need and often get kind of cast aside by society. Because while Rohan does have a nice title and all the benefits that come with that, he gets no help in addressing his mental health issues and he doesn’t get to actually do anything, and that drives him nuts
