I’ve only played like 12 hours of BG3 and as far as I can tell the venn diagram of gale appreciators and baron ragoon appreciators is a goddamn circle (myself included)

constantly thinking about the small bits of rage and sorrow the Baron has shown since the Dark Lord's defeat and wanted to depict it

Baron (on how he first met the Dark Lord): I became Baron of Shrike at the age of 8 when my parents were skeletonized by Smorps in front of me. And it was an often empty, lonely castle, and I wasn’t quite sure what to do with myself. Ehm. Yes, I was a sad child, and then I- I, of course, had heard of the Dark Lord. Everyone hears of the Dark Lord growing up, rumbles.  

But one night, I had a dream where I was walking on a beach. And I had been walking on the beach, and I turned around… and behind me, I saw thousands, and thousands of footprints. Just... so many. And I said; “Where are these footprints from?” 

And then - I heard this voice, and this heavy, hot hand placed itself on my shoulders, and they said; “Young boy, those footsteps are where I rode my human centipede. Behind you. Every step of the way. And now you are mine.”

I can give you little things I may or may not have mentioned on here before (the Hide+Gojyo one was so long ago, I really can’t remember) but if you wanted to know some little specifics I can work with it lol. What follows are some kinda… messy vague rundowns on what I would think about.

Shinigami Kanan AU is… simply a Yami no Matsuei crossover (Except ignoring the fact that the YnM cast would be stationed in Japan and not fucking Shangri-la/China)

As for which Universe it’s set in… depends on my universe but here it is. It stems from me thinking it’d be funny if Hakkai dated a Shinigami because they couldn’t die on him and then—– So post death, Kanan realizes she’s like super fucked up with remorse and/or other things tying her to the mortal world, and is approached with an opportunity  to be a Shinigami. It’s fairly mundane, though. It’s just like… a job. But she makes friends with the other Shinigami (bonding with Tsuzuki Asato over sins of the past, and an inability to cook, …there’s more to it than that but if you’re not familiar with YnM I won’t bother going into it). The real deal is that, of course, she’s not really supposed to interact with people she knew while alive. Because there would be questions.

At some point, though it’d just be super interesting if she and her partner/team while on a Shinigami case just happened to cross paths with the Sanzo party. I haven’t thought that much about what happens at this point, except Sanzo probably knows Shinigami exist so… like, whatever. Kanan’s still not allowed to just… do what she wants, with the living… but I mean she and Hakkai would absolutely have to just have… a long and deep discussion and idk… something. Haha~~~

As for the Hide + Gojyo being childhood friends bit, Kaneki doesn’t exist in this AU because IDK Hide just really seems like the type of guy to really zero in on one friend who needs him and like… not get that extremely close to other people. (Though he’d have other friends but…) I drew an art on this one once..

Gojyo’s a lonely kid who’s only got his older brother to look out for him (of course). Hide’s some obnoxious kid that moved into town and approached him out of nowhere. There’s an age difference of at least two but no more than four years because I feel like it (A younger kid looking out for an older kid is cute? idk).

Hide, little insightful thing that he is, picks up on rumors and bruises and Gojyo’s general reaction to things. He also decides it’s his job to make this older kid happy! He invites him to sleepovers and stuff. I also like the idea of him uhhhhh being a little shit to snooty adults in town, but being so cute about it they don’t notice. But that’s just me. Jien likes him though, that much I got.

Gojyo ends up running away or being taken from his home when he’s about 12 and he doesn’t meet Hide again until like 8-10 years later. They reconnect kinda easily. As an aside, Hakkai’s fond of Hide because he’s thankful to him for looking out for Gojyo all those years ago~~~

Wrote a little Baron/Dripfang fic for the “Masters of Mayhem” prompt for “gettingarts2022!” It was also technically a gift fic first but I pushed myself to finish it for TODAY so it counts lmao

one day I’ll release my horrible character playlists into the universe and you’ll all see the scope of my holding up blorbos to songs like I’m comparing paintchips but for now I must simply yell: the day the aliens came by the mountain goats as a baron ragoon song :)
