Quick end of day notes.
I survived what was a stressful time. Mom napped for like 5-6 hours. I actually went to check if she was breathing several times.
The visit went as great as it could have.
They arrived safely. And brought mom a hamburger.
The kids didn't have any injuries.
Mom was communicating ok.
I made a little veggie tray and ranch with nf Greek yogurt and some avo mayo. I munched in them the whole visit. Which I thought was great.
I gave my sister the jelly beans I had intended to send to my uncle who passed away this week. I asked her first and I did not ask in front of the kids. I wanted her to be able to say no if they would be dangerous for her.
I tried to track most things today. And it helped. It helped me realize that although I made an unfortunate breakfast decision, the day was not "shot".

Smell the skin of an orange for a natural mood booster
Studies have shown that orange essential oil helps boost mood and alertness, and can reduce anxiety. If you don't keep the fresh fruit on hand, buy some bottled oil and dab a drop on each wrist or massage into your temples for the same effect.

Why a Balanced Diet is Key to a Healthy Life (food and drink)
Tumblr media
Eating well
Eating a well-balanced diet that consists of healthy foods and drinks is vital for maintaining good health and well-being. Our bodies require a wide range of nutrients, vitamins, and minerals to function properly, and a balanced diet ensures that we get all of these essential components. So, what exactly is a balanced diet? It involves consuming a variety of foods from all food groups in the right proportions. This means eating plenty of fruits and vegetables, lean protein, whole grains, and healthy fats. It’s also important to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water and limiting sugary drinks. There are countless benefits of a balanced diet, including weight management, increased energy levels, improved cognitive function, and a reduced risk of chronic diseases such as diabetes and heart disease. A balanced diet can also boost our immune system, helping us fight off illness and infections. To make sure you’re getting all the nutrients you need, it’s essential to incorporate a variety of foods into your meals. Eating a rainbow of fruits and vegetables is a great way to ensure you’re getting a range of vitamins and minerals. It’s also important to choose whole grains instead of refined ones and include sources of lean protein like beans, tofu, and fish. When it comes to drinks, water is undoubtedly the best choice. Drinking plenty of water throughout the day helps to flush toxins out of your system and keep you hydrated. Sugary drinks should be avoided, as they can contribute to weight gain and other health problems. Of course, a balanced diet is just one part of a healthy lifestyle. Exercise, sleep, and stress management also play crucial roles in maintaining overall health and well-being. By combining a balanced diet with regular physical activity and plenty of rest, you’ll be well on your way to living a healthy, happy life.
Food Groups
To achieve a balanced diet, it’s important to know about the different food groups and the nutrients they provide. The main food groups include: 1. Fruits and vegetables: These are a great source of vitamins, minerals, and fiber. They should make up the bulk of your diet. 2. Grains: This group includes bread, rice, pasta, and cereal. Choose whole grains over refined grains for more nutrients. 3. Protein: This group includes meat, poultry, fish, eggs, beans, and nuts. Try to include a variety of sources in your diet. 4. Dairy: This group includes milk, cheese, and yogurt. Choose low-fat or fat-free options to limit saturated fat. 5. Fats and oils: This group includes oils, butter, and margarine. Use sparingly and choose healthy fats like olive oil. A balanced diet includes a variety of foods from each of these groups in the right proportions. This ensures you get all the nutrients your body needs for optimal health. In the next section, we’ll discuss the benefits of a balanced diet. The benefits of a balanced diet are numerous. A diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains can reduce the risk of chronic diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, and certain types of cancer. These foods are also low in calories and high in fiber, which can help with weight management and digestion. Protein is important for building and repairing tissues in the body, while dairy provides calcium and vitamin D for strong bones. Healthy fats from sources like nuts and oils can also provide important nutrients and energy. To make sure you’re getting all the nutrients you need, aim to eat a variety of colorful fruits and vegetables, choose lean proteins like chicken and fish, and opt for whole grains over refined ones. Limit your intake of processed and sugary foods, and drink plenty of water throughout the day. In addition to eating well, exercise is also an important component of a healthy lifestyle. Aim for at least 30 minutes of moderate physical activity most days of the week. This can help improve cardiovascular health, maintain a healthy weight, and boost overall well-being. By following a balanced diet and incorporating regular exercise into your routine, you can improve your health and reduce your risk of chronic disease.

The benefits of a balanced diet
Eating a balanced diet is one of the most important things you can do for your health. By providing your body with the right nutrients, you can improve your overall well-being and reduce your risk of chronic diseases. Here are some of the key benefits of a balanced diet: 1. Maintaining a healthy weight: A balanced diet can help you achieve and maintain a healthy weight, which is important for preventing obesity and related health problems such as heart disease, diabetes, and cancer. 2. Improving heart health: A diet that’s low in saturated fat, trans fat, and cholesterol can help lower your risk of heart disease and stroke. 3. Boosting immunity: Eating a variety of nutrient-rich foods can help support your immune system, which is essential for fighting off infections and diseases. 4. Improving mental health: Certain foods, such as those rich in omega-3 fatty acids, have been shown to help improve mood and reduce symptoms of depression. 5. Supporting healthy aging: A balanced diet can help maintain healthy brain function and reduce the risk of age-related diseases such as Alzheimer’s. By incorporating a variety of foods from all the different food groups into your diet, you can ensure that you’re getting all the nutrients your body needs to thrive. Aim for a mix of fruits and vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats. And remember to limit your intake of processed and high-sugar foods, which can contribute to health problems over time. With a little bit of effort, you can make eating a balanced diet a regular part of your healthy lifestyle
How to make sure you’re getting all the nutrients you need
Eating a balanced diet is important for getting all the essential nutrients your body needs. Here are some tips on how to ensure you’re getting everything you need: 1. Eat a variety of foods: Consuming different types of foods ensures that you get all the different vitamins and minerals your body needs. 2. Plan your meals: Take the time to plan out your meals ahead of time so that you can make sure you’re incorporating a variety of foods from different food groups. 3. Pay attention to portion sizes: Even if you’re eating healthy foods, consuming too much can lead to weight gain and other health issues. Be mindful of portion sizes and stick to recommended serving sizes. 4. Incorporate fruits and vegetables: These are some of the best sources of essential vitamins and minerals. Try to eat at least five servings of fruits and vegetables per day. 5. Choose whole grains: Whole grains contain more fiber, which is important for digestion and maintaining healthy blood sugar levels. Choose whole grain breads, pasta, and rice instead of refined versions. By following these tips, you can ensure that you’re getting all the essential nutrients your body needs for optimal health.
Foods to avoid
Eating a healthy, balanced diet is crucial for overall health and wellness. But it’s not just about what you eat – it’s also important to consider what you should avoid. Here are some foods to steer clear of: 1. Processed Foods: These include packaged snacks, sugary drinks, and processed meats. They are often high in calories, sugar, and unhealthy fats. 2. Fried Foods: Fried foods may be tasty, but they can be high in unhealthy fats that contribute to heart disease, obesity, and other health issues. 3. Sugary Foods: Excessive sugar consumption is linked to weight gain, type 2 diabetes, and other chronic diseases. It’s important to limit sugary foods like candy, baked goods, and sugary drinks. 4. Trans Fats: Trans fats are a type of unhealthy fat found in some processed foods, including baked goods and fried foods. They can raise cholesterol levels and increase the risk of heart disease. 5. Sodium: While some sodium is necessary for our bodies, consuming too much can lead to high blood pressure and other health problems. It’s important to limit your intake of salty snacks, processed meats, and other high-sodium foods. By avoiding these foods and focusing on whole, nutrient-dense foods, you’ll be well on your way to a healthy, balanced diet.
Sleep
Another important factor in maintaining a healthy lifestyle is getting enough quality sleep. Sleep is essential for the body to recover and recharge from daily activities. It is recommended that adults get at least 7-8 hours of sleep each night to support overall health and well-being. Lack of sleep can lead to a variety of health problems, including fatigue, irritability, weight gain, and even an increased risk of chronic diseases like diabetes and heart disease. In addition, poor sleep can also affect cognitive function, memory, and mood. To improve your sleep quality, it is important to establish a consistent sleep schedule and create a relaxing bedtime routine. This may include taking a warm bath or shower, reading a book, or listening to calming music. Avoiding caffeine and electronics before bedtime can also help improve sleep quality. By prioritizing sleep as part of a healthy lifestyle, you can improve overall physical and mental well-being.
Drink
In addition to eating a healthy and balanced diet, it’s important to pay attention to what you’re drinking. Staying hydrated is essential for maintaining optimal bodily function and preventing dehydration, which can lead to fatigue and headaches. Water should be your go-to drink, and you should aim to drink at least 8 glasses a day. While sugary drinks such as soda and fruit juice may be tempting, they provide empty calories and contribute to weight gain. It’s best to limit your intake of these types of drinks. Instead, try swapping them for healthier options such as herbal tea or flavored water. Alcohol should also be consumed in moderation, as excessive drinking can lead to liver damage, weight gain, and other health problems. The recommended daily limit for alcohol is one drink per day for women and two drinks per day for men. Remember, what you drink is just as important as what you eat when it comes to maintaining a healthy lifestyle. So make sure to prioritize staying hydrated and choose drinks that are beneficial for your body.
Exercise
Along with eating a balanced diet, regular exercise is crucial to maintaining a healthy life. Exercise not only helps you maintain a healthy weight, but it also improves your mood, strengthens your muscles and bones, and reduces your risk of chronic diseases such as diabetes and heart disease. To get the most out of your exercise routine, aim to get at least 150 minutes of moderate aerobic activity per week, such as brisk walking or cycling, and strength-training exercises at least two days per week. It’s also important to incorporate activities that you enjoy to make it more sustainable and enjoyable. Remember, a balanced diet and regular exercise go hand in hand to help you live a healthy life. So get moving and make it a part of your daily routine!

I am still alive.
I haven't weighed for quite awhile.
Couple of eating hiccups... couple of missed workouts.
Got some overtime this week and next so that should finally give me a break on finances.
I struggle with balance. The all in mentality is tough to break. I am trying.
But I notice I am also having at least 2 sweet things a day and I don't think my coach likes that. 😅
