Am I the only one who thinks that Hermes is a super underrated god? Yeah we only ever saw him through a bad lense in Pjo because of Luke, but in the last Olympian, I had so much sympathy for him.

The guy wanted to help his son out so bad, but knew that if he interfered with the fates, then it would make matters worse and cause bigger problems. Even Poseidon knows how much he loved Luke till the point where he was considered Hermes's pride and joy. He LOVED May castellan so much aswell. He was anguished that Annabeth couldn't change Luke's mind (obv he shouldn't have blamed her, but you can see how desperate he was to help Luke). He said that Luke was no longer the same boy anymore because he gave himself away to Kronos. Imagine the heartbreak.

He actually had the decency to shed tears and genuinely repent his son's death (I'm looking at you Zeus) and even blessed him after he died so he could have it a little easier in the underworld.

Also, Hermes was enraged when percy accused him of not caring about luke, because he loved luke more than anything else, compare this to zeus, when hera accused him of not caring about jason's death, Zeus only got angry because he got the blame, not because he was upset that he was getting misunderstood of not caring. u can legit see it in his response ("i didnt kill him woman, caligula did!") like how tf does that response make any sense, he was basically proving hera's point with that shit answer. the guy just hates it when gets called out or blamed for his bs.

Hermes is also the least superficial god because he has a deeper understanding with mortals since he works with them. The dude is also funny aswell (duh he's like the god of mischief).

I've also never seen many pjo fics involving x Hermes!reader either. Is it because his powers aren't really flashy or flamboyant?

One thing I like to hc with the Apollo Head Counselors is that they all represent a time of which the sun is out.

Lee - Dawn/Dusk

Mainly dusk, but pretty much imagine him in browns, oranges , dusky yellows and reds and the like.

Michael - Twilight

Starts after the fall of Dusk,short lived. Haralds the start of darkness and but also first light when it falls. The darkess time in which the sun is out. I see him muted/ dark blues,dull browns and blacks. Maybe a touch of greyish pale yellows.

Will - Daylight

Longest lived, bright, it's what most people think about when they think of the sun. With his golden sun kissed hair and sky blue eyes its pretty on the nose. I see him in bright/light yellows and blues.

Idk why I thought of posting this, I just love them and wanted to share my thoughts.

Think it is pretty obvious how I tend to draw them, but it's fun to write it out ^^

Honestly, my favorite part of the elder six is how you probably won’t realize they’re all family until they’re all standing together, in front of you

Like they have characteristics/features of each other but not enough to identify unless with all all the dots connected. Like you can see Hera & Hades have the same eyes (brownish red) but its not until its contrasted with Hestia’s fully brown ones that you would really notice it. You can see Demeter & Zeus have the same style of anger and way it shapes their face but its not obvious until you contrast it to the others.

They just have little features with each other that just don’t line up until they’re altogether. But at first glance, smaller groups of them (especially duos) look little to nothing like each other and I like this hc a lot

This is literally how I see them like! everyone was like they don't look related, then saw their sibling portrait in the main hall and was like never mind. Or when they have to all be next to each other, everyone's just like wtf?!?!?

You can't see it unless they are standing right next to each other.

They also deny looking anything like one another. They just don't wanna believe it.

i mean i read a few different kids book series about greek mythology as a kid (as well as books w the actual stories in them) but treating this kind of stuff as JUST fandom uwu fun times is weird lol. you have to acknowledge the real history the real people who believed in these gods etc

Something I really appreciate about TOA that I don’t see get talked about much is that I never get the sense that Apollo finds Lester ugly.

For all that he complains about the body he’s stuck in, I never got the feeling that it came from a distaste for Lester himself. When he sees Lester’s traits reflected in others, like Meg being chunky, he is completely unaffected by it. Finds it charming, even. (In fact, the only times I can remember him having Opinions about how someone looks is when they’ve chosen something about their appearance that he either approves or disapproves of, like a tacky jacket/hair cut or when he finds someone attractive. The only time I can remember him calling anybody ugly was when he pointed out that Dionysus was choosing to look as ugly as possible to piss of Zeus, which is a statement of fact and doesn’t necessarily mean he thinks that Dionysus’ form is actually ugly. He makes no mention of finding it so before or after that line. It’s a statement of fact that Dionysus is choosing a form that either he or Zeus finds ugly to piss of their dad.)

The thing about Lester is that he is so devastatingly mortal. He has flab and acne and no upper body strength and his voice squeaks when he’s nervous and he sweats a lot and he has a silly name and messy, curly hair that’s impossible to tame. He is the Most Teenager To Ever. There is no godly blood running through his veins, no powers he can call upon. If Apollo were to run into him in the street, I don’t think he’d pay him much mind. He’d probably just think, “sweet kid”, and move on. If he got to know him, I think Apollo would adore him because that’s just who rrverse!Apollo is. He loves mortals despite himself, flaws and all. He’d argue against anything bad Lester had to say about his own appearance and mean every word.

The problem is that it’s Apollo in this body. Apollo, The Golden Child, the perfect son, a God. His distaste for this body is because Lester is so devastatingly mortal and imperfect. Apollo has to be perfect, he has to be shiny and pretty and strong because he has nothing else to offer otherwise.

And.. I dunno, there’s something about Apollo hating the things that draw him to others when it’s him. The flaws that he tears apart in himself he finds endlessly charming on others, or he thinks that they have better reasons for why they have them, or he thinks they have enough positive traits to counteract them. The positive things that he hides deep enough that even the reader can’t see right away, like his kindness and genuine desire to understand and connect with everyone around him, that he’s shocked to find directed at him in turn.

That Apollo accepting himself and reclaiming his personhood leads to him being comfortable with being Lester, imperfect and mortal as he is. That he takes that imperfection back with him to Olympus… I dunno man I’m Emotional. Also it’s just plain nice that Lester is never treated as ugly for looking like a normal ass teenager, even by the guy stuck in this body. That’s neat.

Or maybe I’m just rambling and this means nothing at all and I’m reading too far into Blorbo from my books.

SYNOPSIS: gods, gifts, and unexpected blessings

After the chaos of the battle against Kronos, Percy and his friends found themselves standing before the gods, who were bestowing gifts upon them.

The atmosphere was tense, and the gods were not exactly known for their gentleness.

Zeus cleared his throat, drawing everyone's attention. "Percy Jackson, son of Poseidon, I offer you the gift of immortality. Join us on Mount Olympus as a god."

Percy hesitated for a moment, and the other gods exchanged glances, some muttering under their breath.

You, being the daughter of Hermes, couldn't hold back as you stepped forward.

"Whoa, hold on there," you interjected, trying to diffuse the tension. "Percy doesn't need to be a god to show how much he cares about his people. He's doing just fine as a demigod.”

The gods turned their attention to you, surprised by your boldness. Even Poseidon and Zeus looked taken aback, not used to being questioned or challenged by mere half-bloods.

Poseidon, noticing the commotion, stepped forward with a small smile. "Now, now, let's not get ahead of ourselves. Percy's got a good head on his shoulders, and I'm sure he knows what he wants."

You nodded at his words. "Percy's dad is right and-" You felt a pang of embarrassment as you realized your slip-up. "I mean, Poseidon, sir of the sea, I mean God! I'm sorry, I didn't mean to..."

Poseidon chuckled, waving off your apology. "No need to worry, my dear. I appreciate your support for my son. He's lucky to have someone like you by his side."

The tension in the air eased as Poseidon's words calmed the other gods. Percy shot you a grateful look, and you smiled back, feeling a little less flustered.

As you and Percy prepared to leave, hand in hand, Poseidon approached the two of you. Percy expected his father to address him, but instead, Poseidon turned to you.

Confused, you nodded as he asked you if he could have a word in private with you. You dropped Percy’s hand, not before kissing his knuckles.

"Ah, my dear, it's not every day that someone stands up for my son the way you did. It takes a lot of bravery or stupidity to reference the Gods like that," said Poseidon.

“Umh, thanks,” you replied.

“You have my blessing to marry my son,” Poseidon said. You blinked in surprise, feeling your cheeks flush. "Oh, um, thanks, but we're not really... I mean, we haven't really thought about..."

Poseidon winked at you. "Mark my words, my dear. You and Percy have something special." You chuckled and nodded. Then you went back to Percy.

“What was all that about?” said your boyfriend. “Oh, come on, don’t be embarrassed. I’m sure having the god of the sea as a father-in-law is not that bad," you chuckled at Percy’s words and pressed your lips against his.

When you guys made it to camp, Percy took your hand and led you to a quieter spot. The beach. He looked at you with a twinkle in his eye, and before you knew it, he was pledging his commitment to you.

Not in a marriage proposal way, it was better than that, a promise to always be together, no matter what. A promise that you both would always keep.

The two of you shared a moment, knowing that you didn't need the approval of the gods to solidify your bond. With Poseidon's unexpected blessing and Percy's heartfelt vow, you felt ready to face whatever the future held, together.

I was having a good day until I realized how much objectifying Jason was subjected to, So many people just saw him as an object.

He was literally like placed like a historical artifact at Camp Jupiter because of his dad, everyone there only saw him as a legend, not as a person with real feelings. Camp Jupiter was all worshippy with him while he was there but was quick to turn on him after he disappeared, thinking he was dead and didn't even hold a funeral or anything, just moved on with zero thought of him and replaced him like he was some kind of statue.

Even Percy felt bad for staying at Jason's praetor room because he felt terrible for taking Jason's place just like that. So you just know how nonchalant people where when it came to Jason's disappearance. Nobody spoke of him fondly, no one bothered about Jason's wellbeing, To them, he was simply a chess piece that helped them succeed but they didn't care about his fate as long as they got a better replacement.

Please don't get me started on how Piper "claimed" Jason to drew without his knowledge like he was a prize or something. ("Stay away from Jason Grace, he's mine he just doesn't know it yet" Piper honey wtf was that 😭) only to dump him and be SO outwardly bitchy and hostile acting like she got dumped or something, post break up after he was fully in love with her. (Which is something she ironically said she would never do because, as she put it, she was "much different" than other Aphrodite girls) she ended up being more of a heartbreaker than drew herself.

Jason was also, as hazel put it, considered as Hera's pawn to stop gaia's plan.

Zeus didn't care about his death, because to him, Jason is simply one of the many children he has. He doesn't care of he loses one because he has plenty of other sons and daughters to carry his legacy.

Poor jason was just discarded like scrap after his purpose was fulfilled.

I think one of the largest issues I have with Lore Olympus is Rachel Smythes tendency to ignore her favourite characters wrong doings or to try 'justify' them with poorly executed retcons. In the latest chapter we get yet another "Zeus bad" retcon that somehow feels worse than the prior "Zeus bad" moments. Im not going to deny Zeus is a very VERY flawed person in LO, I am all for Hera divorcing him. But here she is trying to justify the Metis/Zeus plot point by saying "oh she was protecting her daughter all along by sleeping with someone who she met when he was underage!!!!" That feels really creepy? I dont think she really considers the implications of the things she writes and thats not a good thing. She cant even try argue "oh kronos time shenanigans make it ok" or whatever stupid logic she might use because she has established his time powers had run out from his fight with Ouranos at that point in the story.

Like lets take the catastrophe that was the Dio birth arc, she tries to retroactively justify Persephone being a terrible midwife who steals a baby without letting the father hold him by being like "oh actually he didnt care about the baby he chose to carry in his leg for about 10 years Persephone was in the right!!!" instead of having her ask to take custody or do anything other than demanding she be given the baby like a few minutes after Zeus finished giving birth.

Its not just Zeus either, she tries to justify Persephone invading Leuces home by being like "Oh Leuce never really got any texts shes delusional!!!!" ignoring the fact that Leuce thought the texts were valid enough to show to Persephone when mrs pink tyrant was being a home invader and neglecting the baby she just stole a couple of hours ago. Dio is treated like a purse dog and we get some off hand comment where Persephone blames the neglect (which was so bad the child got into TARTARUS) on the sitter she hired rather than being like "oh I should have made actual arrangements for Dio instead of giving myself a makeover". Theres also the way she tried to claim Thanatos was as much to blame for Hades' terrible parenting as Hades was by being like "well the abandoned child had an attitude can you blame Hades for not being a good dad?" Like yes. Yes we can blame Hades, he was an ADULT and Thanatos was a CHILD.

I guess the point Im making is, if she wants her characters to be morally grey, she needs to stop twisting the narrative into a gordian knot to justify every bad thing her favourites do whilst condemning other characters as being 'the worst' like hold them all to the same standard and actually let them develop instead of making excuses.

the calm waters / percy jackson x daughter of amphitrite! reader.

a / n : i love the trope of married gods' children falling in love. and i will shamelessly write about it!!!!

warnings : cursing, blood, fighting, stoll twins being icons!!

"y/n, we need you on the arena!" connor stoll called, rushing to you.

you were in the lake, meditating in the water to find inner peace or something, or just to be away from the camp's chaos. well, as you can see, your plan was doomed.

you sighed as you stepped outside of the waters, standing on the dock with the help of some waves. you weren't even wet, still in your dry camp tank top and blue shorts. "what happened this time, stoll?" you asked, hands resting on your hips.

"percy is beating one of my step brother so fucking bad," he panted out, and you didn't wait for him to finish for rushing to arena.

there was a big crowd, which made a big circle in the middle of the arena. you pushed away some kids to reach where percy was. and boy, the view was not good.

percy was on top of the poor kid, punching him non stop. the guy was already bleeding but percy seemed to go feral, and you wondered what could the boy have possibly done to make him this mad.

everyone was too scared to stop him, even the ares kids wasn't doing anything. and you knew you had to do something before he basically killed the boy.

"alright percy, that's enough." you yelled, grabbing percy's arm harshly to make him stand up. he stopped the minute he heard your voice, only panting now and giving death stares to the boy who fainted on the ground.

"he fucking deserved it." he growled, not looking at you. you kept him away from the boy as the apollo kids moved the kid away, immediatly to the infirmary.

"does it matter?" you held his face in your palms, expression serious. "control yourself."

the words seemed to have an affect on him, to a level of charmspeaking. his expression softed as his eyes met yours, quick breaths slowing too. "you're more than that." you spoke again, as the crowd standed far behind you.

as you both kept talking, mostly you calming percy down, and him easly melting under your touch, the stoll brothers stared at you both.

"i wonder how she can calm him down this easy." travis said, stooding beside his twin. they knew their brother were wrong, and they didn't liked the boy anyway.

"because of their parents, y/n is the daughter of amphitrite." connor explained, but from travis' expression, he knew his brother didn't understand what he meant. connor rolled his eyes before he continue to speak again.

"do you know why she's married with poseidon?" he asked, and travis shook his head as in 'no.'

"because, poseidon was a maniac back then," connor said, hitting his head. "and zeus made him marry with amphitrite to calm his temper down, which, it worked perfectly."

travis' expression changed, "oohhh," he smirked, crossing his arms like his brother. "i get it know. power of the love and all."

conner chuckled, shaking is head. "whatever this is, it's working and i'm glad. percy is no better than his dad, in fact, he's worst."

travis looked at him with his usual mischief. "well, we're glad he has his wife around him yeah?"

connor laughed. "totally."

the twins watched you go to the lake, diving in the water professionally.
