I'm a sucker for cliche stuff so as soon as this fic popped in my mind l had to write it down, english isn't my first language tho.
I'm sorry if this is too long TT, but this is kinda a slowburn? it might contain a lot of parts so wait for part 3! One of the reasons this is long af it's because I would like to show you how Jaehyun and (Y/N's life is before they get together! So pls pls don't skip anything I hope you like it!
if you want to be in the taglist, just lemme know;) enjoy!
The third day of the week arrived promptly, where (Y/N) found herself comfortably seated in one of the library chairs, with her chemistry books scattered on the table in front of her as she studied for the exams she had coming up, with Jungwoo beside her.
It was becoming her routine for the week; after last Friday's party, what she most desired was to avoid being at home, especially after having an argument with her mother when she returned from the party.
She didn't want to deal with her in a good time.
Annoyed that her mother had thought it was a great idea to take away her right to use her own car as punishment for disobeying her that night and leaving the house... staying in the library seemed the most pleasant option; with silence, able to listen to music through her AirPods, without her mother bothering her every five minutes and being able to review what she had learned in her last classes: it was something she could take advantage of. She took a sip of her vanilla latte, which had been sponsored by Jungwoo, who, in an attempt to apologize for abandoning her in that way during last Friday's party, promised to pay for each of her daily drinks for a week and a half, no matter the cost.
And even though (Y/N) could afford that or even triple, she was still happy about it. Gifted things tasted even better anyway.
Of course, she first gave Jungwoo a -no- beating after telling him everything that had happened during his absence, but still, she appreciated that her friend was okay even though she hadn't heard anything from him until Saturday night.
During these last few days, with a new routine, (Y/N) was almost always in the same places, at the same times, and if she was honest, she was surprised not to have bumped into Jung Jaehyun at any moment.
It was weird; she would normally see him somewhere around the school, either accompanied by Lucas or just sitting on one of the benches while smoking his 'n' cigarette of the day. But simply, since Friday, she hadn't heard anything from him... she hadn't even bumped into Lucas, which increased the level of strangeness, considering he was a social butterfly, he was always around. (Y/N) had been aware of her words after Jaehyun had taken her home: she could no longer continue with whatever deal they had, with all the stress of her own tasks and knowing that no matter what she did, her cousin wouldn't give up his addictions, it was best to give up.
Although it would hurt her soul to know that there was no way to help Daeho.
But thinking about it, she didn't know if she had really been sincere about each going their own way... apparently Jaehyun had taken it very seriously to not show up anywhere, and although (Y/N) knew very well that being close to him didn't bring her anything good... his presence hadn't been so bothersome in the last few days. Really, after sharing a few words and spending more time with him, she couldn't say that she disliked his existence. It was funny if you asked the (Y/N) from a month ago, there would be no way she could have imagined that, somehow, she would be related to none other than Jung Jaehyun, who, on the outside, just seemed to be one more problem.
She tried to stop thinking about it and tried to focus her gaze on the book in front of her, but after a few minutes... it was difficult for her. There was something inside her that made her feel uneasy but she couldn't think what it was.
"There’s a race in Kosmo today" her best friend's voice brought her out of her thoughts.
Kosmo was the neighborhood that was right in the middle of the city, dividing Kwangya and Neo Zone. (Y/N) knew that there were usually illegal races in that area because it was when the rich kids from Kwangya usually dared to compete against Neo Zone.
"And why should I care...?"
"Your cousin will go to bet," Jungwoo replied, interrupting her study session.
The girl opened her eyes in surprise and asked, "How do you know?"
"Daeho told Mingi, and Mingi told me," he replied simply, shrugging his shoulders. The boy fell silent for a moment and cleared his throat. "Don’t you want to go?" He asked curiously.
(Y/N) looked up from her books and observed her friend incredulously. "Why would I want to go?"
"To keep an eye on Daeho," he answered.
"I'm still mad with him, I've decided not to help him anymore. I really tried, I've been trying for the past few years, but he doesn't want help and now I understand," the girl confessed, closing her book and letting out a sigh.
"Still... don't you think it would be fun? Getting out of our comfort zone a bit... seeing what all this racing stuff is about. I've heard they're amazing," Jungwoo insisted.
"Jungwoo, my mom will kill me if she finds out I went to an illegal race," the girl continued, taking a sip of her coffee.
"She won't find out."
"Jungwoo..."
"Come on, (Y/N), we won't even be in Neo Zone, it'll be in Kwangya only. We'll go, watch the race, and leave. We won't even make contact with anyone. We'll go on our own," the boy assured her, moving closer to her. "Please, I think it would be interesting to break out of our routine, just for one night, what could go wrong?"
"Many things could go wrong, Woo," she replied.
"We won't know unless we try," he pouted, clasping his hands together. "Please."
She hated how persuasive her best friend was.
She sighed and shook her head. "Fine, but at the first sign of trouble, we're leaving without a second thought."
"I love you so much," Jungwoo replied, hugging her shoulders.
"And I really hate you."
______________________________________________
The night fell faster than she expected, and among the roar of engines and the intense music that could be heard on the outskirts of Kosmo, (Y/N) felt something cold run through her body.
She could see familiar faces here and there, some of her classmates from Kwangya were in the place, and from the opposite side, the cars and familiar faces of Neo Zone were present.
It was a strange atmosphere for her; she had always played it safe, and now she didn't even know what to think. She felt herself getting closer to Jungwoo to not lose him, the last thing she needed was for them to separate like they did at the party.
She didn't think she could survive alone.
And it's not that she was dumb to think otherwise, but her parents raised her in an environment where they made her believe that she shouldn't do things outside her daily life. (Y/N) was afraid of adventures. Her life was governed by being obedient and doing the right thing; she didn't know when the moment of rebellion she had a few days ago when she left home the night of the party had been wise.
And now finding herself in Kosmo secretly from her mother at an illegal race? She must have gone crazy.
She believed even more so that she had gone crazy when something inside her hoped to run into none other than Jung Jaehyun.
She didn't understand why the urgency of what was happening, and even less why she expected to run into Jaehyun before running into Daeho.
Maybe it was because she found it strange not to have seen him since last Friday's party.
But she knew that if there was one place Jaehyun wouldn't miss... it would be the race tonight.
"Are you looking for Daeho?" Jungwoo asked when he saw her looking around. "He's probably with Mingi."
How could she explain to her friend that the person she was looking for was none other than Jung Jaehyun?
She nodded without saying more, and they both continued on their way while cautiously observing their surroundings. The smell of marijuana and car engines was embedded in the place, the music made their ears ring, and the night breeze made their bodies tremble.
(Y/N)'s eyes drifted away when she noticed Lucas in the distance, having a conversation with another guy. Lucas felt her gaze on him and looked at the girl with confusion before approaching her after apologizing to his companion.
"Hey, Kwangya kiddos, what brings you here on this magnificent night?" Lucas asked enthusiastically.
"We wanted to know what these races are about," Jungwoo replied simply.
"Hmm, interesting," the tall guy nodded. "Well, you're in luck, Jaehyun will race today, are you sure you want to see the show? The best of the area against someone from Yellow Wood," Lucas explained while cracking his fingers slightly.
Upon hearing the guy's name, (Y/N) looked up and paid attention to Lucas's words.
"If you're interested in betting, come to me," Lucas advised.
"I think we're fine like this," said (Y/N).
"Alright, take care. I'll go look for my guy to get him ready for the race," Lucas announced as he patted Jungwoo on the back.
The guy walked away from them with a smile, and Jungwoo responded with one of his own, then he looked at his friend and frowned, "relax, you're anxious."
How could she not be?
But before she could even answer anything, a few meters away, she saw the familiar face she had been looking for. In the distance, the silhouette of Jung Jaehyun was leaning against his car while talking to a few guys from Neo Zone, his neck tattoos weren't very visible due to the darkness of the night but she could distinguish them a bit, then... as if he had called him, Jaehyun's gaze moved to connect with hers, making her freeze in place.
Jaehyun frowned when he saw her standing just a few steps away from him, looking like a lost puppy as she stood beside Jungwoo.
The sight reminded him of a month ago when Daeho had clumsily brought (Y/N) to Neo Zone. Although this time she was accompanied by her best friend, another rich and spoiled kid from Kwangya. He observed the outfit she had decided to wear, once again, just like that time, it wasn't extravagant, no famous brand could be seen in her attire, and the only piece of jewelry she wore was a pair of earrings that definitely looked like gold...
He hoped she wouldn't lose them tonight.
Because they made her look good.
The surprise was evident on the girl's face when she took a better look at the brunet's body, who was now walking towards her, wearing a hoodie with its hood over his head and as he got closer, the darkness of the night was no longer so intrusive. It hadn't been enough to hide the bruises that were scattered across his body.
There was one under his cheek, just below his left eye, and it was reddish, as if it were flushed. Then, looking at the ones between his jaw and his neck, she noticed how they subtly mixed with the ink of the tattoo he had on his neck. That one was difficult to distinguish thanks to the dark lines that adorned that part of his body, but if you paid enough attention, it was alarming.
When she lowered her gaze over his torso and then looked at his hands, she could see the intense shades of red that his knuckles contained, as if ground blood had accumulated on each of them.
It wasn't the first time she had seen Jaehyun or Lucas with a bruise or two on a school day, but it was the first time she had seen it up close.
Her heart was pounding a mile a minute. Why was it suddenly doing this?
"Did you lost your way home?" Jaehyun asked when he was in front of her.
"Jaehyun," she muttered quietly, "... are you okay?"
The girl didn't need much to realize that was the stupidest question she could ask right now, of course he wasn't okay. And although she knew this happened regularly in Jaehyun's life, she couldn't help but fill her head with doubts; what had to happen for him to end up like this?
... was that the reason he hadn't gone to school?
A small smile appeared on the boy's face, and even with the different colors decorating his face, she could still notice the dimples that formed in it.
Why did he still look good?
"I don't think you came here to ask that, Angel," Jaehyun replied mockingly. "I really believed in your whole story about us going on our ways, so what are you doing at a race where most of the spectators are from Neo Zone?"
The girl was left speechless. "Jungwoo brought me here."
"Well, if that's the case, enjoy the races, I think it'll be fun for you to spice up your Wednesday nights a bit," he continued with a sarcastic smile.
"What happened to you?" She asked again.
Jaehyun didn't answer.
He had gotten himself into big trouble... all thanks to Jeno.
He had trusted that all his merchandise would be sold by the time Monday came around, but after being at Johnny Suh's party, where other dealers were also present, he didn't manage to sell what he needed.
He had a little less than half left in his pockets and in Lucas's.
Luck had not been on his side this time, and when he had to be accountable to Lee Sooman, he had to take responsibility for his brother's actions. And despite telling him that he would not take care of him like he used to after the argument they had... he'd much rather take the beatings he had received than see Jeno the way he did in the mirror.
That time, it really felt eternal. He still remembers the angry (but also mocking) look Sooman had on his face when Jaehyun and Lucas brought the money to his office and after asking Lucas none too kindly to leave, that was when Jaehyun knew what was coming.
With Cheol Uk by his side, leading him out of the office to the vacant lot not far from the warehouse, Jaehyun could do nothing but accept what was coming.
It was one blow after another, and he knew well that at that moment, defending himself was not something he should do or he would end up worse.
He remembers feeling every punch with tremendous pain, and all he could think about was Jeno and how he would have felt if it had been him getting beaten up.
At least Jaehyun was used to the beatings and had no choice; he already knew that all of this was part of being someone from Neo Zone, so he simply had to continue to comply with what Sooman demanded to the letter unless he wanted to end up again in the position he was in.
What felt like hours was really just a few minutes; Cheol Uk stopped hitting him after a while and without saying more, he left. Leaving Jaehyun in the middle of the vacant lot with a broken lip and eyebrow as he spat blood and reached for his abdomen for some support to get up and walk to where he knew Lucas was waiting for him.
How much more? How much longer would he have to keep with all of this?
But, right now, it wasn't something he should talk about.
"It's really not something you need to know," he replied with a smirk. "You came to enjoy the race, right? Then do it, I'll be running in a few minutes, if you don't get scared by the atmosphere here before that, I'm sure you'll want to see me," Jaehyun continued, winking at her.
"I think it'll be fun to see you in second place," the girl teased.
"Baby... I always win," Jaehyun bragged, looking her directly in the eyes.
It was then that the girl didn't say anything else, she just kept her gaze on his. She hated feeling intrigued by Jaehyun himself. Because right now she didn't even feel like she was in Kosmo, with Jaehyun in front of her looking directly at her, she didn't even feel real. She was getting into fire and she knew it.
And she didn't know if she could escape from it.
For a moment she felt a heaviness on her shoulders and warmth surrounded her, causing her to snap out of her thoughts and notice that the jacket that Jaehyun was wearing over his hoodie was now over her body.
"You were trembling like a chihuahua," Jaehyun explained. "Don't consider it an act of kindness, I'm just returning the favor after having done my jobs those two weeks... at least now they won't kick me out of school this evaluation period," he continued.
"I'm not sure if I should feel good knowing that I'm indirectly helping an illegal business," she replied, adjusting the jacket.
"No one needs to know," he replied. "Good luck tonight, don't get lost too much because things get interesting," he said, and without further ado, he turned around to go back to his friends.
(Y/N) stood perplexed in her place, and it was then that she felt Jungwoo's presence next to her.
"What was that?"
"I have no idea."

The next morning, after putting her books back in her backpack, (Y/N) looked at the jacket folded inside her bag, feeling a heaviness and remembering the events of the previous night.
The rumors were true... Jung Jaehyun was the best street racer in the area, because he not only competed once the day before, but two more times, winning 3 victories in a short time, and to be honest, it had been impressive.
She hadn't run into him again after the brief conversation they had, and even though she had been waiting for it... she and Jungwoo bolted from the place when they heard the police sirens approaching Kosmo.
The last thing she needed was for her parents to find out about her escapade.
She didn't hear anything from Daeho the night before, she even doubted if he had really gone to the race.
She didn't want to give too much importance to the situation, which is why she chose to continue her path through the school hallways, hoping to return the jacket that was at the bottom of her bag and trying to divert her thoughts to something other than Jaehyun.
And as if she had summoned him, she saw him under the entrance roof as he leaned against the wall and took a drag from the cigarette in his hands. (Y/N) checked the day's weather and cursed when she noticed the raindrops falling lightly. She had forgotten about today's forecast.
Jaehyun was lost in his thoughts as he watched the rain and let out the smoke in his chest.
The bruises were still visible.
She stopped abruptly to take the jacket out of her bag and, without saying anything, approached him and handed it back to him.
Jaehyun looked at her with a raised eyebrow and blew out the smoke from his lungs.
"You're welcome," Jaehyun said as he took the jacket in his hands.
"Yes, thank you," she said, feeling her cheeks flush.
"Where did you park your car?" Jaehyun asked out of nowhere.
"I didn't bring it with me, my mom confiscated it," she blurted out without thinking, and when she turned to look at Jaehyun, she noticed a mocking smile on his face.
"Oh, mom took away your Porsche," he pouted mockingly and shook his head. "Come on, I'll take you home."
"I'm fine, Jaehyun. Thanks," she said as she looked at the rain.
"Come on, it wouldn't be the first time I've taken you. Plus, the school won't be closing anytime soon."
She thought about all the possibilities that crossed her mind, but something about her was excited to think about the ride home.
"Where's your car?"
______________________________________________
It was fortunate that his car was nearby.
Jaehyun turned on the heater as soon as they got into the car, and without further ado, the journey began.
It was just like the first time they had been together in the same car. Without saying anything, both with their eyes focused on the road, and it was then that they both realized that they didn't have a topic of conversation. The few times they had interacted had been about their interests and what they needed from each other at the moment. However, Jaehyun didn't know anything about (Y/N) that he hadn't heard at school, and (Y/N) didn't know anything about Jaehyun that she hadn't heard in the hallways or from her parents about the people from Neo Zone.
At this point, they weren't even acquaintances.
They had just coincided in something and that was it.
(Y/N) took the opportunity to send a text message to Jungwoo and tell him that he no longer needed to pick her up, without explaining more, she sent the text and subsequently, Jaehyun's phone rang.
The boy sighed and cautiously looked for a quick place to park even with the sound of the mobile phone ringing filling the car. He took the device and (Y/N) could notice the slight tension that seized Jaehyun's body as he read the caller ID, without thinking twice he answered the call.
The brunette felt weird being able to hear Jaehyun's conversation, so she tried to distract herself with something else. First with her phone, then looking out the window where she could see the rain beginning to dissipate, and then she could hear a "I'll be there in a moment" that made her react and turn to see him end the call.
The boy scratched his neck and then brought his hands to his face to rub it, let out a deep sigh, and looked at (Y/N).
“Uh, I need to do something quickly and your house is still a bit far... Do you mind if we stop by that place first? It's on the way” he asked with no other option.
“Does this has to do with your job?” She asked.
It took him a moment to respond: — No, it's not about my job. You can stay in the car, it's just that, I really need to get there.
After seeing Jaehyun's face and not being able to decipher what he was trying to say, (Y/N) nodded, not very sure, and that was enough for Jaehyun to quickly start the car.
Thousands of thoughts ran through (Y/N)'s mind. Eager to know where they were headed; she didn't know if she should believe Jaehyun that this wasn't about picking up or delivering goods or meeting someone who worked on the same thing he did.
She was only sure they wouldn't go to Neo Zone because they were far from there.
She could see how impatient Jaehyun seemed while driving, and that only made her even more nervous. What exactly did they tell him in that call to make him like this? She wanted to ask, but she knew she wouldn't get an answer.
She didn't know how many minutes had passed, she only knew that the rain stopped just before the car parked and she finally noticed where they were. A gray building was a few meters away from them, and it wasn't hard to recognize it.
It was the National Rehabilitation Center.
A long and large building, which was accompanied by an extensive garden, and from the outside, you could see that there were a huge number of rooms inside it.
Her head was flooded with even more questions knowing that this was the place where Jaehyun was needed.
“You can stay in the car if you want. I'll be back in a moment” Jaehyun said as he opened the car door and got out.
Curiosity got the better of her.
And that's why she got out of the car and followed Jaehyun. Without saying anything, they entered the building where they were immediately greeted by a nurse who seemed to know the boy well.
“Jaehyun, I'm glad you were able to answer the call” said the woman as she greeted them. “We need to talk to you”.
The boy nodded and turned to (Y/N), who just nodded and said, “I’ll wait for you.”
He smiled slightly and walked with the person until they reached the reception where she was able to pull out a few papers.
It had been, perhaps, about two weeks since the last time he had been there. A place he was very familiar with and where he regularly went; he had become good friends with the friendly nurses who apparently didn't care where he came from.
He was grateful that the nurse didn't say anything when his bruises and wounds were clearly visible.
“Has something happened?” he asked after a few seconds.
“ He's fine” the nurse said with a smile “but we need to talk to you about his stay here” she continued.
That's when the small smile on his face disappeared. Jaehyun knew what she was referring to. He swallowed hard before the nurse could speak.
“The payment is overdue, Jaehyun," the nurse confirmed what he already knew. "We care about Sicheng's health, but this is not my concern. You know that the center relies on patients' monthly payments, and the administrators in charge of them request them punctually," she commented as she handed Jaehyun one of the papers. "I understand your situation and Sicheng's, but there's nothing more I can do even if I wanted to; I've tried to delay the payment as much as I could, but unfortunately, it can't be delayed any longer. The administrators expect the payment soon, or we'll have to discharge Sicheng and send him home," she concluded.
It was difficult at first for Jaehyun to process everything the nurse had said, as more than ten things ran through his mind at once; one of them being his good friend Winwin, then, thinking about how he could quickly get the money he knew he owed to the clinic, considering the beating he had just received for not being able to complete a sale. So, what would he do? He still needed half the money for that monthly payment, and between the clinic's expenses and those of his own house for his family, he couldn't see a way to get the money on time.
He would have to ask for more stash to sell if he wanted to do it.
He couldn't let them discharge Sicheng.
Not while he hasn't made progress.
"I'm sorry," Jaehyun said. "I... I still have a little left to complete the payment. It's just that lately, it's been harder, and... how much time do I have to pay it?" the breathless boy asked.
"Considering that it's only the first few days of the month, and the payment is already two weeks late... I can't give you more than three days," lamented the nurse, making a grimace.
"I'll try the impossible to bring you that money on Saturday. Sicheng still can't be discharged; he hasn't progressed the way he was supposed to," he affirmed, a slight pout evident in his mouth.
What a contrast there was between his expression and the bruises, accompanied by the tattoos on his body.
Being in the Rehabilitation Center was the place where he could be most vulnerable.
"How is he?" he asked, lowering his gaze.
"Same as the last time you came to visit him," commented the nurse. "We're doing what we can, Jaehyun, but as long as he stays the way he is, we can't move forward. We need his will to help him."
When no words came out of his mouth, the nurse continued: "Jaehyun, you know you can go see him."
For Jaehyun, each visit was just as difficult as the day he decided to admit Sicheng to that clinic, and each one left him more tormented than the previous.
He would give everything if that means that Sicheng would go back to be himself.
He nodded after a few seconds and cautiously glanced back, where, not far away, (Y/N) was reading some brochures and observing the facilities around them; when she noticed the boy's gaze on her body, she walked toward him carefully.
The brunette didn't really know what came to his mind or what caused those words to come out of his mouth, but when he wanted to back off, it was too late, because they had already been expressed.
"Are you coming with me?"
And although (Y/N) had no idea why they were there or where they were going, she accepted anyway. So they found themselves walking down the long whitewashed hallway until they reached an elevator, and then they went up about three floors.
The atmosphere was cold, the hallways and rooms were well-lit, and they could see a few nurses and what she assumed were doctors walking around in their lab coats.
Jaehyun didn't know why he was allowing himself to show her that part of his life, especially when it was such a fragile part for him. He had tried to protect it cautiously for the past few months, and now he was there, accompanied by Hwang (Y/N), with the person he never thought he would meet at that moment.
He hadn't really thought of her when he asked if they could go there before going home; his head was only thinking about the clinic and Sicheng when the call had ended, and it was too late to change his mind when they had set off.
He just hoped the girl would be discreet enough.
They reached room 119, where Jaehyun pushed the door open and where in a wheelchair, they both could see Winwin, who was facing the large window of his room, looking outside.
(Y/N)'s surprised face did not go unnoticed; she was confused in a thousand ways. She knew who Dong Sicheng was; everyone in her school knew him, however... she thought he had simply left the city. She had no idea he was in that place. So in her head, thousands of questions arose about him, why he was there, and why he was in a wheelchair.
She could only react when she heard Jaehyun's voice: "Hey, buddy. How are you today?"
Nothing.
That's what he received.
Jaehyun walked over to him, and when he stood next to him, he crouched down enough to be able to observe him better. Winwin had his gaze fixed forward, his cheeks were a little rosy, his hair fell over his forehead, and his hands were resting on his legs.
Jaehyun sighed.
"Oh, I see you've taken a shower today," the boy mentioned with a smile, and again, there was not a single response.
When he noticed the presence of the girl, who had remained in her place throughout the visit and hesitated to approach them, he spoke: "Today I'm not alone; I brought company. Maybe you'll find it helpful to hear another voice that isn't mine or Lucas's... or the nurses'," the boy teased and gestured to the brunette to come closer, who obeyed. "Do you remember (Y/N)? She was in our class; we've coincided a couple of times, that's why she's here."
"Hello, Winwin," she greeted softly. Jaehyun made a grimace and stood up from his place to be at the girl's height.
"Don't expect an answer," Jaehyun commented. "There won't be one."
"I thought... I thought Winwin had moved to China," (Y/N) confessed.
Jaehyun snorted: "Yes, that's what everyone thinks."
Those words took her by surprise, and it was when she decided to remain silent, watching from a distance the little interaction between the boys: it was just Jaehyun saying a few words while adjusting Sicheng's hair without expecting any response.
Dong Sicheng and Jung Jaehyun had been friends since birth, being two little boys who grew up on the streets of Neo Zone, it was easy to click with each other. Winwin's parents had decided to move to the infamous area after his father had met Lee Sooman in some low neighborhood in Wenzhou, China, and he had offered him a job where he could have his family at least a little better off than in his country.
Winwin had not joined the gang since it had not been of great urgency to him; his father was the active member needed by the family, and if he were honest... the farthest he could be from the Neo Zone gang... the better. He was always Jaehyun's companion at all times. Best friends who shared every detail of their lives for years, Jaehyun took care of Sicheng, and he provided the most sincere friendship he had ever had... then, a while later, Lucas Wong and Mark Lee joined their adventures.
Four boys from Neo Zone with the desire to conquer the world, but unable to leave their sad reality behind.
Jaehyun still remembers that fateful day a year ago, and he still feels like it happened yesterday.
The guilt gnawed at him every passing day, terrorizing each of his nights as he wondered: Why?
Why did something like that have to happen to someone as good as Dong Sicheng was?
A year ago, when Jaehyun had chosen to go deliver a package of stash after Winwin had asked him to stay and keep him company, and he had denied that request... that decision still drilled into his head.
Winwin's family and he had been robbed in their own home. Knowing who had done it, the reasons for the event, and who had ordered such inhumanity, were still a mystery. When Winwin's parents along with him tried to flee the place by leaving in a car; it had not been the wisest decision they had made at the moment... because not long after, outside of Neo Zone, after the group of people who had robbed their home managed to shoot a clean shot in one of the tires of the rear part of the car, causing Winwin's father to lose control of his own vehicle and not a few meters later it would impact hard enough for the car to be shot in another direction, causing immediate damage.
Jaehyun only remembers receiving a call from Lucas and minutes later finding himself at the entrance to the Emergency Room of the General Hospital, where a stretcher with Winwin's body was being transported.
He remembers seeing the blood. He remembers hearing Lucas and Mark's screams asking to see their friend. He remembers standing still at the entrance to the Emergency Room.
But above all, he remembers thinking, what would have happened if instead of deciding to go sell that stupid package of stash, what if he had stayed at home with his mother and Sicheng?
A week in a coma and a diagnosis of paraplegia was what made Jaehyun lose his mind.
It had been a year since the accident, and Winwin had not even progressed a bit. After being diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder, it had been difficult to help the injury in the dorsal spine that he had suffered; the damage had been partial, Winwin could handle his movements and his sensitivity to walk again... if only he would come out of the state of shock he was still in.
There were too many things he experienced in so few minutes, so much physical and mental pain for what happened, that now, Sicheng couldn't react.
It had been a year since Sicheng hasn’t spoken.
The doctors assured that he could hear and understand everything, but he was simply mentally tired to process the words and make them come out of his mouth.
His body didn't react as it should either.
And until Winwin had the strength of his own will to do it, the only thing they could do at that clinic was to keep him on medication so that the pains would not persist.
But Jaehyun couldn't take it anymore.
What he would give for Sicheng to be able to enjoy life again.
Unfortunately, the visits he made to the hospital... didn't last more than half an hour since that was the place's regulation. So, his farewell was as quick as his arrival.
"See you on Saturday, Win," he put his hand on his shoulder. "Don't give the nurses too much trouble."
He could swear he heard Winwin laugh and say goodbye.
Even though that really didn't happen.
(Y/N), who throughout the visit remained silent observing both boys, could feel her heart in her hand. She had never believed she would see that vulnerability on Jaehyun's part, and knowing what it was about because of the importance his best friend had in his life, made her heart ache with sadness even more.
"Now I'll take you home," murmured Jaehyun when he passed by her without saying anything else.
The girl glanced back, looking for the last time at Sicheng's silhouette, who hadn't moved from the same place since they had both arrived in the room. She took a deep breath and left the room when Jaehyun was already far enough away.
She didn't know what to say. There were no words of comfort for the situation, and she knew it, that's why they both silently said goodbye to the nurse who had received them and continued like that until they entered the car, which was not parked far away.
Jaehyun allowed himself to lean back on the driver's seat as he closed his eyes and sighed heavily.
"I guess you have many questions," Jaehyun said without opening his eyes.
She had.
"I don't know if I really should ask them," (Y/N) confessed as she looked at him.
The boy remained silent for a few seconds.
"Sicheng and his parents had an accident a year ago," Jaehyun said, opening his eyes to look at her. "An accident that was caused."
"By whom?"
"No one knows," he replied, taking his hands to the steering wheel of the car and squeezing it tightly. "His parents died instantly... Winwin arrived at the hospital in critical condition; it was a miracle that he came out alive."
"Why...?"
"Why is he in this clinic?" he interrupted, and she nodded with a knot in her stomach. "The accident had a great impact and damaged on his dorsal spine; the doctors diagnosed partial paraplegia; his sensitivity in his legs was minimal, and he couldn't make any extensive movements with his legs that didn't make him cry from the pain. After seven days, he woke up from the coma and realized everything that had happened, including my uncle's death... he hasn't said a single word since then... the doctors said it would take time for him to recover, and that eventually, he would speak, but Winwin doesn't have the will to do it; he's still in a kind of state of shock, and that has delayed his recovery," he explained, unable to see her in the eyes.
"Who... who pays for all this if Sicheng's parents aren't here?" she asked curiously.
Jaehyun sighed; "For the first few months, my boss covered part of the monthly fee, until suddenly he stopped doing it. Since then, I've been taking care of it."
The girl's expression was one of surprise.
"How do you do it?"
"That’s the reason I'm in the business that I'm in," he replied, changing his gaze to her, being able to see directly into her eyes and causing her to feel a shiver run through her body.
There was something about those bruised eyes that had done something to her.
"It must be hard," the girl said in a murmur.
Jaehyun snorted and nodded slowly. He hated being seen in his less tough character. The only person he allowed himself to be like that with was Lucas... or Winwin. And for a stranger to see him like that... made his blood boil.
"You know? Winwin loved dancing," Jaehyun said, smiling sideways as the memory came to his mind.
That fact wasn't strange for (Y/N), she remembers seeing Winwin at the school theater... the only boy from Neo Zone who was part of the dance team. She didn't even know how he had managed that, but he must have been good if the Kwangya students allowed him to be in the group.
"Now nobody knows if he'll be able to do it again," Jaehyun continued. "Winwin was the only one of all of us who really had a future, he wasn't even a gang member... he hadn't even gone through his initiation, and look how he ended up."
(Y/N) swallowed.
"Mark Lee is no longer friends with you, right?" The girl asked curiously.
"Things got complicated with him after the accident."
The brunette fell silent for a moment and then shifted her body to face him.
“Haven't you thought about looking for another alternative?” she questioned again “You know? If you let me help you, maybe I could get you a position at my father's company and...”
“Shh. I think I've told you it's not that easy.”
“ But it could be” she insisted.
Jaehyun scoffed and shook his head as he looked away from her.
“I not only have to cover this quota, I also have to bring money home, for my mom and for Jeno. It's the easiest way to get what I need” he confessed “besides, I told you once... in Neo Zone there's no way out, once you're in, you're in forever.”
The tattoos on his neck were what sentenced him to a miserable life forever.
But as long as that miserable life helped to ease the pain and managed to make Sicheng return to who he was, it would be worth it.
“It doesn't have to be like this” she murmured, focusing on her own hands.
"You don't know what it's like to be part of this," he countered in a low voice.
How had they opened up to have such a conversation so suddenly?
The girl felt her lip tremble as she remembered the scene she had witnessed minutes earlier in that room, and she couldn't help but think about how it would feel to lose a loved one in such a way... knowing that physically they were present, but mentally they weren't there.
(Y/N) had always had a heart easy to move, but she really never believed that Jung Jaehyun would be able to achieve that.
"Is that why you insist on continuing school?" she asked, looking at him again.
"Students are my best clients," he replied with a half smile.
(Y/N) didn't know how to take that.
She closed her eyes for a moment and then said, "I can help you with a few more assignments," she assured. "But only for a while and in my own way. But, I don't want you to involve me in any of the problems you're in, it will only be school matters. I don't want to be associated with anything you do, if anything you do is enough to help Sicheng, I'll try not to question it."
Jaehyun couldn't believe what he had just heard.
"If that helps you help me and me stay in school..." he paused "...I might be willing."
"What's the reason for your change of heart?"
"Because if I were in the same situation as you, I would also want someone to somehow help me," she replied, hugging herself.
The boy nodded with a half-smile, and without further ado, he started the car.
"Only school matters," Jaehyun confirmed.
She definitely didn't know what he had just gotten himself into.
______________________________________________
The day after the visit to the National Rehabilitation Center, something happened that made (Y/N) unable to concentrate enough during class hours. Her mind kept going back to the place over and over again, but how horrible was the situation the boy was in. One day you're capable, and the next... not even being able to move. How could anyone endure that?
At some point in the morning, during the physics period, her mind was spinning, her leg moving anxiously, and she bit her lips. She tried to erase the conversation she and Jaehyun had had the day before a thousand times and tried to erase the image of Winwin in that room.
But it was impossible.
Just when she thought she had succeeded, the image returned immediately.
She hated being someone who cared too much about things.
Because she knew something wasn't right with her when she found herself in front of the doors of the Rehabilitation Center.
Her coat shielded her from the cold breeze on that day, and as she clutched her bag to her, she didn't think anymore and entered the place.
She felt a little out of place when she entered the center, but after a few minutes, a presence came in front of her.
"Hello, good morning," the nurse greeted her. "Oh, you're the girl who accompanied Jaehyun yesterday, right?" She asked in confusion.
The girl smiled and nodded. "Yes, I'm Hwang (Y/N). I'm Jaehyun's classmate... and Winwin's."
"How nice of you to visit us... are you here to see Winwin? It's rare to see someone come for him other than Lucas or Jaehyun," confessed the nurse.
"Um, yes... I could say I'm here for a visit," the girl smiled. "But, to be honest... yesterday I overheard a bit of his conversation with Jaehyun... I know Winwin's payment is delayed this month."
"Yes, usually Jaehyun finds a way to pay on time," she sighed. "But this month it's been delayed for a few weeks, and if I'm honest, I've been doing everything I can to keep Winwin from being discharged."
The girl nodded and asked, "Do you think Winwin's treatment will still take time?"
"I can't answer that accurately," admitted the nurse. "It's all a matter of Winwin's will, but to be honest, right now he has no will at all, so far as we're concerned, and if the payment continues to be monthly... he could spend another half a year here."
The girl understood the situation, and although she would like to think more about it... she didn't, so she didn't even know when she blurted out those words: "Is there any way I can pay for the next six months?"
The nurse's eyes widened with surprise, and she looked at the girl with enthusiasm. "Are you serious?"
"Yes," she replied. "I would like to help one of my classmates as long as I can. Money is not a problem," she confessed.
"Wow... thank you, i really appreciate that. Winwin is a boy with a lot of potential from what we know, and although we're sad that we haven't made the progress we want, we know that someday he will leave through that door better," (Y/N) smiled nostalgically.
"I just need to ask you something," the brunette confessed. "Could you not tell Jaehyun that I've paid?" she questioned.
"I don't know if it's easy to lie to someone like Jaehyun," the nurse laughed. "But since it's something good you've done... I'll try," the nurse walked to the desk with (Y/N) behind her. "(Y/N)?" She called and paid attention. "I know there may be many things about Jaehyun... but he's a good guy... beneath all that facade; he really has something good."
Those words hammered in her head. "Thank you."
_____________________________________________
(Y/N) reviewed the same line of text she had read five times now on some molasses topic. Trying to understand the topic deeply.
The air coming lightly through one of the library windows was enough for her to try to hug herself to take warmth, read a bit from the physics books on the table, and impatiently move her leg.
She didn't know at what exact moment a tall figure stood in front of her, but what she did know was that that person didn't seem very happy.
"Why did you do it?" Jaehyun let out while looking directly at her.
"I don't know what you're talking about," (Y/N) replied while looking at her book attentively.
"I know you know. I thought I told you I don't need your money," Jaehyun repeated with annoyance.
"I still don't know what you're talking about," the girl stopped seeing her book and changed her gaze to the boy.
"Don't play with me," the boy exclaimed exasperatedly. "Why did I went to the center today and they told me Winwin's treatment has been paid for the next six months?"
The girl shrugged. "It could have been your boss."
"My boss doesn't give a shit about Winwin!" Exclaimed the boy. "I told you I didn't need your money, I was clear, I don't want to owe anything to anyone from Kwangya."
"You don't need to pay me back," the girl assured, standing up in front of Jaehyun. "With the money you'll save from that, you'll be able to sell less."
"It seems you don't understand a fucking thing!" Jaehyun raised your arms with annoyance. "Paying or not paying for Sicheng's treatment, it doesn't change the fact that I sell drugs!" The boy explained regardless of where they were; they were lucky the library wasn't being occupied by other people.
"Everyone starts somewhere!" the girl attacked. "I just wanted to take a weight off your shoulders."
Jaehyun scoffed and looked at her with a sarcastic smile.
"Why? I don't need your pity! If you hadn't accompanied me yesterday, you'd still be thinking Winwin had moved to China! You didn't give a fucking damn even when he was your classmate!"
(Y/N) started gathering her things and putting them in her backpack.
"Saying thank you would have been enough, Jaehyun!" the girl remarked. "I know you can do better with your life," she murmured as she turned to look at him.
Jaehyun's blood was boiling; he hated when people interfered in his life, as if he didn't already have enough to deal with.
"You don't know anything about me! You said it yourself; we're not even friends," he retorted.
"And what if I want to get to know you better?" the girl exclaimed without thinking. They both fell silent, staring into each other's eyes. (Y/N) didn't even want to say those words, but she did.
She couldn't deny that Jung Jaehyun was intriguing. She didn't know why. She didn't know why she had been avoiding him for weeks, but since that night at Neo Zone, when they had talked about the deal, she knew it would be difficult to shake him off, and when she had... something inside her wanted them to meet again. Why are things so difficult? They are two different people from different backgrounds; why would she suddenly be interested in him? Was it because she saw him vulnerable the day before? Or was it because she believed there was something good in him, just like the nurse had said?
She must be crazy to think like that.
"You really don't want to do it," Jaehyun said with a bit more calmness.
"I know you can get out out of that hole, Jaehyun."
"Winwin's parents tried, and look how that ended up!" he exclaimed. "There's no way out in Neo Zone, get that through your head," he explained. "There's nothing good about me. I don't even know why you think so, just because yesterday you saw something different or because I drove you home a couple of times, doesn't mean you know everything about me!"
"Stop acting like a fucking jerk."
"Like a jerk? This is reality! Your act of charity isn't going to change my life. I was born a dealer, and that's how my life will end!"
"I really believe there's something good in you."
"Well, keep believing it."
"If you ever feel grateful, you know where to find me," the girl said, gathering her things and walking out of the library.
Jaehyun cursed under his breath and shook his hands in frustration. In just a few days, the girl had managed to push his buttons faster than anyone else from Neo Zone.
But when he saw her walk out the door, why did he feel regret for lashing out at her?
_______________________________________________
The week had been slow this time. (Y/N) and Jaehyun had been avoiding each other like the plague, not even looking at each other when they crossed paths in the hallway. For the girl, it seemed like childish behavior, especially coming from Jaehyun and his usual façade; now he seemed nothing more than someone throwing a tantrum after she only wanted to help him.
But she still thought she really wanted to get to know him better.
What was behind his façade? What was it that made him who he was? Not the boy from Neo Zone, not the dealer everyone knew... who was Jeong Jaehyun really?
That question had been on her mind for weeks, and it disappointed her a bit to know that she might never know the answers to those doubts she had about the boy.
Today was warm compared to the weather last week. The sun was shining brightly, and luckily for (Y/N), her mother had decided to return her car. So her day had started off on the right foot, and hoping for a good day, she took the opportunity to stop by her favorite coffee shop in Kwangya. Ordering her usual vanilla latte and just before it was time to pay, a thought invaded her mind, and after debating it internally, she decided to follow her thoughts.
An hour and a half later, when she was the last one to leave her physics class, someone blocked her path at the classroom door. Holding her book to her chest, after the unexpected startle, she looked ahead to find no one but Jaehyun. Who stood silently in front of her, with the same leather jacket he used to wear, the same combination of marijuana and vanilla scent, and with the same enchanting eyes, that she had just noticed.
She was in dangerous territory.
And she knew it.
"I need to go to my next class, Jaehyun," the girl said shortly.
For a few seconds, the boy in front of her didn't say anything, he just watched her, until he sighed and slowly said, "Thank you."
Short and to the point, he didn't say anything else, and that was enough to make (Y/N)'s heart flutter in a thousand ways.
"For the coffee," the boy finished. "And for the notes."
"I did my part, I told you I would help you," said (Y/N) as she fiddled with her fingers.
"I thought you wouldn't after the last time we met," Jaehyun confessed.
"I'm sticking to that."
A small silence ensued. Two people face to face. With thousands of doubts between them and things to resolve. What had drawn them together? How was it that the universe managed to put two completely different people in the same place?
"Did you mean it?" Jaehyun asked, and when he noticed that (Y/N) didn't understand what he meant, he continued. "About wanting to get to know me more."
(Y/N) swallowed hard and looking him in the eyes, nodded.
"I still believe there's something good in you."
"Why?"
"I don't know yet," she replied honestly. "And it's killing me. A while ago, I wouldn't have wanted anything to do with you, not even to cross paths, but now, I don't know what's changed, but every time I try to stay away, it's like something brings me back here," she confessed, leaving Jaehyun speechless, who just watched her, trying to decipher everything she was saying.
It was killing him too.
"Let's go to my car," he said.
"Huh?" she asked, confused.
"You want to know more about me, then get in my car," he said again, this time making his way to the parking lot, with (Y/N) behind him, who didn't say a single word, just followed his lead.
What was he doing?
When they reached the car, Jaehyun opened the passenger door, causing (Y/N) to get in without protesting. Then Jaehyun got into the driver's seat and without further ado, started the engine. She didn't know what was happening or what would happen next, but right now she could only trust Jaehyun.
Even though she didn't know how bad an idea that might be.
A few minutes later, as they had traveled a long distance, (Y/N) noticed they were approaching Neo Zone, and with her eyes wide open, she panicked.
"This is me," Jaehyun said out of nowhere, catching the girl's attention. "See all these streets? This is where I belong. This is what I am," he explained carefully.
(Y/N) looked out the window, a couple of people smoking on the sidewalk, others passing joints, and other silent streets. The houses weren't that big... rather, they looked cramped. Unlike what she was used to, to her lifestyle, this didn't seem like it would be enough for a family.
But what did she know with the privilege she had?
"I grew up here, this is what I know," he commented. "Most people are born and die here, it's something that seems to be already written," he continued as his car slowed down. "Those of us from here have a different perspective on life... people from Kwangya lives for the money... we live to survive, and although it's getting harder and harder, we manage to do it," the car finally stopped, and still looking out the window, (Y/N) saw a small house in front of them. One story, not much to describe or point out, it was small but for some reason, it looked cozy.
(Y/N) changed her gaze to Jaehyun, who was still looking ahead and spoke.
"Is this your house?"
Jaehyun nodded.
(Y/N) smiled softly.
"Would you invite me in?"
______________________________________________
He doesn't know how (Y/N) managed to have an effect on him, but now they were there, inside his little house, (Y/N) carefully examining the walls around them and analyzing every aspect of the small space.
He was grateful there were no one at home.
"It looks cozy," (Y/N) said as she looked at one of the frames hanging on the wall.
"I guess it's not even a third of your house," Jaehyun assured to (Y/N).
“And no matter how many people are there, it always feels lonely," she confessed. "It's like no one leaves anything there, like it's something unimportant. As if it's not a home," she finished.
Jaehyun looked at her gently, and as she looked around, thousands of things went through his mind.
"To be honest with you," the girl spoke. "I see more vibes from Jeno in this house than yours," she said. "Many things here seem related to Jeno... but I don't see many things related to you..." she continued. "It's like you don't even think about staying here for long."
"I don't plan on leaving Neo Zone," Jaehyun asserted, crossing his arms.
"Don't you want a different future?"
"There's no future for me," Jaehyun pointed out. "And if there were, I'd prefer to give it to Jeno. He has much more to live for than I do."
"You also have a life to live. A future to write, you can change what is today, for something better," (Y/N) turned around to face the boy.
"I have no way out," the boy replied. "Do you think this is easy? After seeing my dad die and doing everything my bosses ask me to do no matter what. Taking care of my mom, Jeno, and now Winwin? Huh? Making sure Winwin becomes who he was again and that my brother doesn't end up being a fucking addict are enough reasons for me not to leave here," Jaehyun concluded, getting dangerously close to her, with a few centimeters separating them.
The words echoed in her head strongly.
"I'm sorry," she whispered.
"Don't pity me," Jaehyun said under his breath.
"It's not that. It's just that every time I think about all this and now that I see your place and I don't see anything that seems to belong to you, it makes me think that's what you're looking for, to belong to something and leave here as soon as there's an opportunity,"
Jaehyun looked directly at her, not knowing what to say. And afraid to think that maybe she was right.
Because yes, maybe he wanted to get out of there, along with his mom, Jeno, and Winwin; maybe he wanted to do something with his life that wasn't illegal, but what was the point of thinking about it when he knew he wouldn't make it? He was afraid to admit that he wanted to be able to change things, to be able to make his family okay, that no shadow from the past would follow them, that they would have a place where they could forge a clean and safe future.
"This has never been about what I want," Jaehyun commented with a future. "Since I was born, everything around me was the gang. After my father's death, I knew what was coming, and I knew I would never be able to get out of it. It doesn’t matter what I want. It matter what my boss wants, he has that kind of power, no one below him has their own decision. The whole life of Neo Zone is ruled by him," he concluded, even closer to her.
(Y/N) looked him in the eyes, her breath uncontrolled. Her chest heaved, and her hands were sweating.
"What do you want, Jaehyun?" she whispered.
The boy paused for a moment and looked at her lips.
"Now?" he asked, and she nodded. "Would it be unrealistic to say that I want to kiss you?"
"How realistic would it be to say that I want you to do it?
She didn't even finish the question because Jaehyun's lips collided firmly with hers. The boy's long hands slid through (Y/N)'s soft hair, her hair smelling of lavender shampoo. He gently covered her cheek with one of his rough hands, and she melted into the touch.
It wasn't a hurried kiss, as (Y/N) thought it would be; actually, Jaehyun was taking the time to savor every passing second. As if this moment would disappear at any minute and he wanted to hold onto it.
Was he looking for something to belong to?
His hand moved from her cheek to her waist, and she took the opportunity to press her body against his and release a moan of pleasure. As if she felt complete leaning against Jaehyun's warmth.
As if it was something they both longed for for a long time.
And even though she wanted to continue with the act, they were severely interrupted when a car horn sounded incessantly outside the house, causing them to separate with tremendous confusion. (Y/N)'s red cheeks were enough to make Jaehyun's heart race, but when he heard another horn, he took her hand and they walked outside in hurry.
And then, there was Jeno, being thrown out of the back of a car, blood streaming from a cut on his eyebrow, bruises scattered all over his body, and falling firmly to the ground after being thrown.
"I want this to be the last time your brother sets foot in our zone. Next time it won't be him we throw," the familiar voice of a boy from the opposing gang spoke up. Chris. Who was with the window down and smiling maliciously. "Neither will it be you, Jung. It will be the girl who will end up like this,"
Jaehyun moved abruptly from his place to try to reach the car, but it left as fast as it could, (Y/N) shocked to hear those words, didn't do anything more than approach Jeno to help him up. Then Jaehyun cursed under his breath and looked into the distance at the girl and her brother together.
And his chest tightened as he realized that now, she too had been involved.
And he believed there was no turning back, because she was right... Jaehyun wanted to belong to something.
But how selfish would it be to belong to (Y/N)?
a/n: well now you know what happened to Winwin TT. Once again I’m sorry if this took too long I promise I’ll try to update sooner this time!

Bad Boy/Good Girl ~ *Keisuke Baji*
Tumblr media
Summary: Everyone assumes Keisuke is a bad boy, with his motorcycle and leather jacket. But little do they know, it's the opposite in your relationship...
Pairing: Keisuke Baji X G/N!Reader
Genre: Fluffy Oneshot
Word Count: 1261
Warning: N/A
Masterlist
A/N: This is actually garbage.
The unmistakable roar of a motorcycle could be heard throughout the campus parking lot. However everyone knew exactly who it was without having to look. Even if they did have to look to see who was here, there was no mistaking that signature black leather jacket, slicked back black hair and captivating eyes that could make any girl swoon. But Keisuke didn’t want to make just any girl swoon. He only had eyes on one girl in particular.
After entering the campus parking lot, he perched on his bike, watching with mild curiosity at the people coming in and out of the building before him. He was currently waiting for a certain person to leave said building. Of course, no one around here knew that. This was the first time he was ever seen on the university campus, much less the Communications Department building, so everyone who was meandering about automatically assumed he was up to no good.
The reason for his visit to this university came soon enough, with a scowl on her face as she marched over to him. Immediately, Keisuke perked up at the sight of her, standing up quickly as the pleasant look on his face turned into a frown. She didn’t say anything, just leaned her head against his chest and sighed dramatically.
“What’s wrong?” He mumbled, his deep voice reverberating against the top of her head. In her position, she couldn’t see the light blush on his cheeks. He didn’t really like PDA as it usually left him flustered, but he didn’t have the heart to tell her to get off of him.
“I hate tests.”
“Did you get your final score back already?” Her audible wince told him all that he needed to know about how it went. He instantly wrapped his arms around her, pulling her into a warm embrace. Yeah, so much for Keisuke not liking PDA. “It’s okay, baby. I'm sure you did your best! And I know if I was taking that class, you would've scored higher than me!”
“No, it’s not okay, but it's whatever.” She sighed, standing up straighter. “I suppose I just wasn’t meant to have a good life.”
It was his turn to scowl at her words, holding her at an arm’s length away so that he could scold her properly. “Don’t say that! You have me, you know! Am I really that bad that you think your life isn't good just because I'm in it?”
She burst out laughing at his reaction before lightly punching him in the shoulder. “It was just a joke, Kei, baby! Man, you should have seen the look on your face! You looked so terrified! I know I shouldn’t laugh but you’re so funny, baby! Seriously! I’m going to die, you’re so funny!”
“I didn’t think it was all that funny, babe.” Keisuke grumbled, looking away from her and trying not to get too upset with her laughter.
Pressing a soft kiss to his cheek, she giggled at his dark blush. “Don’t look so glum, Kei. It’s Friday and you know what that means. It’s the weekend and you promised to take me to the movies this weekend! So let’s get going! I don’t want to miss anything!”
He nodded. “You’re right, I did promise you. But I don’t know if I want to take you anymore.”
She started to pout. “Why not?”
“Because you were making fun of me!” Keisuke whined with a teasing smile.
Chuckling, she pressed a couple more kisses to his cheeks. “I’m sorry, Kei, baby. I didn’t mean to laugh so hard at you. You know I love you right?”
“Yeah, I know.” He mumbled before clearing his throat, trying to get rid of his embarrassment. “Alright, I guess we can go now."
She was about to climb onto his motorcycle when he lifted up his helmet to her, making her groan. “Aww, c’mon! Do I have to? I trust you to be a safe driver!”
“Y/n, I’m just trying to protect you, like a good boyfriend. I don’t want you getting hurt! You’re too special to me.”
Scrunching up her nose, she replied. “You’re too protective of me, Kei! And you're so damn cheesy! It’s almost sickening how cute you are. And you’re always saying you don’t like being cute when you’re the epitome of adorable!”
Keisuke blushed darker before muttering, “Please, everyone knows you’re the cute one in the relationship. I’m the big, scary, bad boy. You’ve heard what people have said about me. I’m always up to no good and all of that.”
“Oh, a bad boy! Is that what you are?” She loudly laughed at his words. “Says the man who always makes me wear a helmet when we go riding on his bike because he’s afraid of me getting hurt when we both know I won’t. Says the man who always calls me his precious baby. Says the man who bought me this sweater because he was afraid I’d get too cold this fall and didn’t want me to get sick!”
“But,” Keisuke attempted to argue with her, “I thought you liked being called my precious baby? Also you look really pretty in that color and I really don’t want you to get sick! Then I have to take care of you and we both know you shouldn’t be missing any more classes than you already do.”
She sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose. “You know, I could always return this sweater and get a different boyfriend, one who understands me better.”
Pouting some more, Keisuke sniffed, not looking at you. “Y/n, don’t make me sad.”
“I was just kidding again.” She teased, patting his cheek gently before letting her hand trail down his neck and rubbing his arm. She bit her lip as her imagination went wild. “You know, if you’re such a “bad boy”, I say you get some more tattoos to prove it. A sleeve would look really nice. I could even help you pick some out and I have a cousin who can do them for a reduced charge.”
He rolled his eyes with a scoff. “We’re not having this conversation again, babe.”
Leaning in, she whispered seductively in his ear, “But it would be super hot.”
“Y/n!” Keisuke squeaked, his breath hitching in his throat.
Laughing at his bright red blush, she climbed onto his bike. “C’mon! Let’s go! The movie I want to see starts in fifteen minutes and I don’t want to miss it!”
He held up the helmet again, before saying, “Helmet on or we’re not going anywhere.”
She took it begrudgingly, grumbling under her breath. As she snapped it into place, she mumbled. “You’re lucky I look good in this.”
“You always look adorable, my precious baby.” Keisuke cooed with a smirk before getting on his bike as well. He felt his heart flutter when she wrapped her arms around him. He quickly started it up and revved the engine because he knew how much she liked it.
Giggling, she shouted over the engine, “Floor it, Kei, baby! I love the feeling of the wind through my hair, even if it is covered by this ridiculous helmet.”
“No way. I don’t want you falling off or getting hurt, babe.”
With a smirk, she leaned in closer, her lips brushing his ear again, making him shiver. “I guess I’ll just have to hold on to you tighter.”
Right before they took off, he muttered, “And they say I’m the bad boy. Leave it to me to fall for a bad girl.”

“You’re a dangerous one, you know that?” You mumbled between kisses. You could feel his cool lip ring against your warm skin as he attacked your neck, sucking at random intervals.
He paused to grin at you, a wolfish look in his eye, as if you were his prey he was about to devour. “Is that so? Now where did you get an idea like that?”
“Everyone says you’re bad news.” It was now your turn to kiss his neck, your nails dragging against his chest and abs.
You could feel the smirk he was giving you and the scoff through his shirt, under the pads of your fingers. “Who says? I’m just an innocent little puppy dog.”
“Mmm, more like a hungry wolf.” You teased, winking at him before he placed a strong hand on the back of your neck to stop your assault on his neck.
“Well, which would you prefer, my kitten?”
His stare was intense and the feeling of his fingers that were exposed from his fingerless gloves on your neck was burning into your skin. Every part of you was on fire, aching to feel all of him. You just wanted to be drawn in closer to the desire you knew you shouldn’t want but craved with every fibre of your being.
With a sigh, you murmured, “I’ll take the wolf.”
He gave a low growl, whispering into your ear, “Good choice.”

"Don't lie to me Eric." Sunwoo said sternly as the boy rolled his eyes and pushed Sunwoo lightly.
"I heard what I heard Sunwoo, it's Haeyi. Besides, I was the one who went back home not you." Eric said, emphasising on the last word.
Sunwoo refused to believe it, the sweetest and kindest girl in town tried to kill herself? No, it couldn't be...right? Why would you do that? Of course you didn't...he was positive you wouldn't do that. But then again, who was he to decide? He hadn't gone back home to Seoul in years...people change, and maybe you did too. But he wasn't gonna believe it till he sees it for himself.
"Eric, take care of everything over here. I'm going back home." Sunwoo said and ran out with nothing but his passport, some cash and his gym bag strapped over his shoulders.
"Yah! Sunwoo!" Eric called for him, who just left without any other word.
🌼🌼🌼
Haeyi's
I couldn't help but fiddle with the hem of sleeve as I looked up at the ceiling of my hospital room. I let out a long sigh as I looked at my fractured hand.
"It's a bummer I couldn't leave." I mumbled and looked at the bouquet of daisies from Eric, my favourite.
I sighed again.
"I feel bad for Eric...he came to visit and had to leave with the news of me attempting to kill myself...did he tell Sunwoo?" I asked myself as I started drifting off to sleep only to be interrupted by an all to familiar scream.
"Yahhh!! LEE FUCKING HAEYI!!" I jolted up to the familiar voice of Sunwoo, sitting up I looked at the door waiting for him to make an appearance.
"LEE FUCKING HAEYI-" He abruptly stopped in his tracks after barging inside my hospital room and looked at me, completely speechless.
"Hey, Sunwoo." I said calmly as he rushed to my side and smacked my head.
"Oww!" I winced and glared at him as he sighed, looking at my fractured hand.
"Idiot, why did you try to unalive yourself, huh?!" he exclaimed as I sighed.
"Why did you come back here? Isn't school in Canada in full swing right now?" I asked, trying to change the topic.
"Why did you hurt youself? Don't change the subject. Do you know how surprised and scared I was when I got the news?" he asked as I avoided his eyes.
"Yah! You tried to kill yourself and since you failed in doing so, are you that ashamed to even face me?!" he exclaimed as I let out a frustrated shriek and threw a mini-tantrum.
"Shut the fuck up! I know what I did and I'm aware of how it worried the people around me but I didn't have a choice! Not after they humiliated me infront of the whole school!" I exclaimed as my voice slightly cracked, I looked up to see Sunwoo now with his jaws clenched and fists curled up so hardly that his knuckles turned white.
"Who did what?" He asked sternly with his eyes dark facing the floor.
"It's ...it's no use...what happened...happened..."I trailed as I felt my eyes well up with tears that I tried to blink away not wanting to cry infront of Sunwoo.
"Stop this shit! Just tell me what's wrong and who caused it! They hurted you to the point where you almost tried to kill yourself! Do you know how scared I was when Eric came back telling me you were in the hospital?!" he exclaimed as I looked away. "Look, I get that...we haven't been in contact for years but that doesn't mean I stopped caring Haeyi...just tell me and I promise, I'll fix it." he said softly as I felt my heart ease up a little.
"You always have to sound so cool don't you?" I asked and chuckled as I got him to sit on the bed and lean my frame on his.
"I am cool...I even got the whole school back in Canada under my feet." he bragged making me chuckle and roll my eyes.
"When you feel like you might fall of a cliff, call me-heck call me an hour before it happens for godsake! And I swear I'll get there and pull you up!" he exclaimed as I chuckled and felt my tears flow out.
"I was lonely, so lonely...after you guys left...I had no one so it made me an easy target for bullies. Because you weren't there anymore...they attacked me and made me their victim. I wanted to get help but everytime I tried, they'd beat me up saying that they'd murder me if I told any grown up so I kept quiet." I said and wiped my tears as Sunwoo cracked his knuckles.
"They really have a death wish don't they? Yah, don't worry...I'll make sure they wish they never even looked your way...if only I didn't leave...you wouldn't be where you are now...and you'd be safe-" I cut off his words with a punch on his arm.
"Shut up, idiot...it isn't your fault...we can't control events like mine." I said as he lightly tugged on a strand of my hair.
"It could've been controlled if you asked for help or told your mom and dad." He said as I sighed.
"Can we not talk about it? It makes me sad." I muttered as Sunwoo widened his eyes.
"Couldn't you have told me earlier?!" he exclaimed as I gasped and hit him.
"You should've noticed!"
🌼🌼🌼
Sunwoo's
I groaned over the phone and rubbed my forehead as mom ranted out why leaving Canada and coming back to Seoul was a loss for me.
"Eomma! Haeyi needs me, you know what happened to her! I want to protect her!" I exclaimed as she sighed.
"You love her that much?" she asked, knowing very well of my romantic feelings for her.
"Yes! Now let me study in Seoul!" I exclaimed as she sighed.
"If you love her that much! Just marry her already, I'm sick of watching you so head over heels for her!" Mom exclaimed as I smiled.
"I will! Now that's a yes right?" I asked as she sighed over the phone.
"Yes!" I pumped my fist in the air as I quickly went back to my old house.
🌼🌼🌼
"What are you doing here?!" I smiled proudly as Haeyi looked at me in disbelief.
"I'm a student here now." I said as I walked inside the gate towards the school leaving her shook.
"Yahh! Why did you switch schools?!" She exclaimed as I stopped in my tracks and raised my fist in the air without turning back.
"For this...I'm definitely gifting this to your bullies...see I even wore my favourite ring." I said as she sighed and caught up to me.
"You really are an idiot, studying abroad is more beneficial than throwing fists and playing superhero." Haeyi said as I smirked and make a cool pose.
"You of all people should know that I would choose beating punks up over studying any day." I said earning a smack on the head from her as she rolled her eyes and went ahead inside the school.
"Yo! Wait up!" I exclaimed and ran after her.
Hyemi's
"I don't remember school over here being this boring, how are you still awake at this point? Oh wait, I forgot you're the brains in the friendship. Can't we bunk class?" I sighed looking at Sunwoo who was already splayed over the desk, a yawn leaving his lips as he whined and tugged at the hem of my blazer.
"Focus in class will you? It's already been 3 months since you joined school. Besides, you're the one who wanted to switch schools." I muttered and put my focus back on class as Sunwoo continued his antics.
After a while I turned to my right to see Sunwoo fast asleep with his hand wrapped around my scarf, causing a loving smile to grace my face . I slowly took off my scarf and wrapped it around him as I got up and left for the restroom.
As I washed my hands I felt my heart rate excel at the sight of three girls walking out of the stalls from the mirror.
"If it isn't our little Haeyi." I felt fear creep up to me as my bullies cornered me.
"You think getting an eye candy will save you from us? Just you watch...he'll side with us in a few days." Yuna said as she fiddled with the curls of my hair.
"Please, just leave me alone-" I let out a gasp as I felt a sharp pain across my cheek.
"You speak too much for a tiny bitch...no matter what you do or who you bring in to save you...you'll always be a worthless piece of junk with no one by your side." Areum said as Seora and Yuna laughed along.
"It-It's not true..." I said softly as Yuna grabbed my hair making me yelp as tears stung my eyes.
"Lee Haeyi, no one loves you...not your parents, not your brother and not your so called friends." She whispered in my ear as my tears fell to the ground.
"Why cry when you already know that it's the truth? Face it Haeyi...you don't have a place in this world...you're just extra weight." Seora said and pushed me to the floor.
Sunwoo's
I looked around the school with Haeyi's scarf wrapped around me as I looked for her. She was there when I was drifting to sleep.. Then where could she have disappeared.
"Where the fuck are you, Haeyi...?" I mumbled to myself as I ran across the hallway trying to find anything that could pinpoint her direction to me.
As I was looking for her three plastic like girls came towards me with bright smiles.
"Hi, you must be Sunwoo~ I'm Yuna!" One of them exclaimed as I shrugged.
"I'm Seora and this is Areum." she saud as I tried walking away.
"Yah! Let's be friends!" the girl, Seora exclaimed as I groaned.
"I'm busy." I said as the girl named Areum clutched on to my hand.
"Come onn! We're way better and prettier than Haeyi! Besides, she could use an update! She's way too out of your league!" she said as I smiled causing the girls to smile back at me.
"Your name is Areum?" I asked as she tucked her hair behind her ear and nodded.
"You sure? Cause for a girl named Areum your personality and looks are nothing but ugly and filthy." I said earning a gasp from the girls.
"How dare you say that-" I cut Yuna off by slapping her causing her to fall back to the other two girls.
"First of all, look at your plastic faces first before claiming to be prettier than someone who doesn't have a fake and altered face...and secondly...you're the ones who need an update not Haeyi...thirdly...I'm not afraid to beat up a bunch of girls because they're females so you better tell me where you locked her before I get it out of your mouths myself." I said as I cracked my knuckles.
"There you are." I breathed out as I opened the door to the storeroom to see Haeyi with her head on her knees.
I felt my heart crack as she looked up at me with her tear stained face, breaking into a sob as she stood up.
"Haeyi.." I trailed as I pulled her into my warm embrace and held her as she sobbed hardly.
"T-They said that I was just extra weight." she muttered out loud enough for me to barely hear it.
"Yah, you aren't! I swear...I won't let them walk around like that without teaching them a lesson." I said as I held her together tightly, worried she'd break if I let go.
"No one loves me..." she said as I felt a switch on inside of me.
"Yah, look at me...I love you...so much and so does Juyeon hyung...you're his baby sister and I'm telling you...if he finds out about what happened...he'd turn the world up side down. All of us love you soo much! Okay? And if anyone ever tells you other wise...they better watch out." I mumbled as I hugged her and kissed the crown of her head.
🌼🌼🌼
Haeyi's
After the incident two days ago I stayed at home and relaxed as Sunwoo had told me to. I was definitely not expecting to be engulfed into a tight bear hug by Juyeon who was supposed to be overseas after school that day when I broke down at school but I definitely needed that after such a long day. But what surprised me more was when Juyeon told me that Sunwoo had told him everything and requested him to cancel his trip and come home to me.
It made me realise just about everything he's done for me since we were kids. His first and main priority was my happiness and he did just about everything just to make me smile. Was he always so charming? So protective? So loving? So considerate ? If so...why am I only realising it now?
As I got in Juyeon's car after he insisted to drop me off I couldn't help but drown in my thoughts.
"You know, he really loves you ." Juyeon suddenly said causing me to look at him in surprise.
"Who? Sunwoo?" I asked as Juyeon nodded.
"Yeah, it's really obvious if you haven't noticed yet." He said as I let out a nervous chuckle and looked out the window.
"There's no way he likes me, let alone love me." I said as Juyeon let out a chuckle.
"If he didn't why did he take the first flight to Seoul and visit you at the hospital? Why did he leave a prestigious school in Canada to join your school? Why did he go to great lengths just to protect you from your bullies? Because he loves you, everyone sees it but you." Juyeon said as you thought about it.
"Why would he love someone like me?" I asked as he smiled.
"Because you're Lee Haeyi, my amazing sister...duh." he said making me roll my eyes as he pulled up infront of the gate.
"I'll get going, thanks for the ride oppa." I said as he leaned in and kissed my forehead and ruffled my hair.
"Anything for my baby sister...now go quickly, I love you." he said as I smiled and got out of the car.
"I love you too." I said as I went inside the school searching for Sunwoo, frowning when I found his bag already there but no sign of him anywhere. I kept my bag and went out looking for him.
"Hey, where's Sunwoo?" I asked one of the student who was walking by.
"I don't know where he is right now but he went and started beating up Daeho and his gang as soon as he entered class and dragged them to the soccer field." he said making my stomach drop as I ran towards the soccer field hoping that he'd be there.
"Sunwoo!!" I exclaimed the the moment I saw a crowd gathered around the soccer field knowing that it was Sunwoo judging from the people cheering.
"Sunwoo!! Kim Sunwoo-" I covered my mouth the moment I was able to get a glimpse of Sunwoo but he looked awful. He was throwing and receiving punches continuously with his shirt stained with dirt and blood, his face was filled with bruises.
"Kim Sunwoo!!" I exclaimed trying to get his attention as I advanced towards the front.
"Kim Sunwoo!! Stop it!" I exclaimed as his ear perked up to the sound of my voice, looking towards me.
"Hyemi!" he exclaimed and turned back towards Daeho, throwing a final punch which caused the man to fall to the ground causing his girlfriend Yuna to run to him.
"No one is allowed to touch her...if you think otherwise, prepare to face the wrath of Kim Sunwoo!" he warned everyone present making my heart skip a beat as I felt my eyes glisten.
He did that for me?
"Sunwoo!" I called out to him who immediately made his way towards me and pulled me into a tight hug without a word.
"They won't hurt you again. I can assure you." he mumbled through the fabric of my sweater as a teardrop left my eye.
"You did that for me?" I asked with a shaky voice as he nodded.
"The Principal might expel me...but it was worth it." he said making me chuckle as I pulled him closer, wanting to feel his warmth.
"Yeah, probably..." I answered.
"My whole body hurts!" he whined as I hit his arm.
"That what you get for fighting early in the morning!" I scolded him as he scoffed.
"To think that I did it for you and I don't even get a thank you." He said as I chuckled and wiped my eyes.
"Thank you for everything Woo." I muttered as he broke the hug and looked at me.
"That was way to sincere, coming from you..." he stopped mid way after seeing the look on your face.
"What?" he asked as I cupped his face and pulled him in for a kiss. He stood still and stiff for a moment but soon melted into the kiss and smiled as he kissed me back.
I broke the kiss and looked at Sunwoo who stared at me with loving eyes filled with adoration.
"Do you know how long I've wanted to do that?" he asked as I wrapped my arms around his neck and joined our foreheads.
"Too long?" I asked as he chuckled and nodded.
"Too long." he muttered as I ran my fingers through his hair, detangling any messy parts.
"I know that I took a bit to long to realise my feelings for you but I want you to know that my feelings for you are way stronger than I can express to you." I said earning a peck on the lips from Sunwoo.
"It was worth the wait." he mumbled and pressed another kiss to my lips.
"I love you, idiot." I said making him laugh.
"I love you too, idiot."

My Bad-boy
Tumblr media
Park Hanbin x afab!reader
Wordcount ≈ 900
Warnings: Mentions of food, mentions stereotypical bad-boy hobbies (smoking, fighting, etc), actually really fluffy,
Please reblog! Requests are open!
Tumblr media
Third person POV
(Y/n) sat with one of her close friends, Lee Jeonghyeon, as they ate lunch in the school cafeteria. The two were having an argument over which one of them was most likely to pass a test without studying for it, a somewhat normal argument between the two as they often tried to compete against one another. All friendly though. Outsiders watching them would probably assume that they were dating because of the way they acted, those outsiders would be very wrong though. (Y/n) and Jeonghyeon were good friends, best friends even, but they weren’t dating and probably never would. Nope. (Y/n) was dating someone else.
Suddenly, the doors to the cafeteria flew open, and in walked Park Hanbin. A boy that most girls and some boys had a crush on. Most people assumed that Hanbin was a bad boy, the kind of bad boy who smokes, drives a motorcycle, skips class, fights, and whatnot. It was the way he dressed and the way he walked that created these rumors. Hanbin often showed up with bruises on his arms and sometimes even on his face, and thus the rumors of him fighting people were born.
As Hanbin walked into the cafeteria, he was pouting, his eyes scrunched into a glare as he scanned the room, looking for a certain person. Everyone in the cafeteria froze, wondering who the bad boy was looking for. Just who had made Hanbin so angry? Once he had found his victim he walked over with hasty steps. His biceps clearly showed in his black tank top, making the people around him swoon. The violet bruises on his arms add to his charm, his black and red dyed hair really played into the bad boy visual.
The onlookers in the cafeteria gasped as they saw who Hanbin had stopped by. (Y/n) and Jeonghyeon both turned to Hanbin with smiles on their faces. “Hi, Binnie,” (Y/n) said with a cheery tone. “What’s up, Hanbin?” Jeonghyeon said as he stood up and moved to the other side of the table so that Hanbin could sit down beside (Y/n). Hanbin sat down the second Jeonghyeon had moved from (Y/n)’s side. “Mmm, I wanna go home,” Hanbin whispered as he leaned against (Y/n).
“Bin, we still have two more classes to go through before we can leave,” “Mmm, I’m tired, and I just wanna cuddle,” “Can you hold on for one more class? I can work on my project for History at home so I don’t mind missing that class for today,” “I love you, you’re the best,”
Only Jeonghyeon could hear the couple’s interaction leaving the audience in the cafeteria wondering what the so-called bad boy was doing leaning on and talking with (Y/n) and Jeonghyeon in such an intimate way.
“Why are people staring at us?” Hanbin asked as he stopped leaning on his girlfriend, looking towards his friend on the other side of the table. Even though pretty much the entire school knew of the rumors concerning Hanbin, Hanbin himself, did not. “They’re staring because they can’t wrap their heads around why the notorious bad boy is being lovey-dovey with Miss Sunshine (Y/n) over here,” “Huh? Bad boy? Is that you or?” “Hanbin, you are so oblivious, the so-called bad boy is you. And, right, people might also be confused cause most people assume (Y/n) and I are dating,” “WHAT?” At Hanbin’s outburst, the attention of everyone in the cafeteria was brought back to him and the table he was sitting at.
“People think I am a bad boy? Why?” “Because of the way you dress, the fact that you show up with bruises almost every single day, you’re often seen skipping class, you dye your hair often, this to them all equals to you being a bad boy,” (Y/n) explained to her boyfriend. “Oohh, I get that. Don’t they know I am an idol trainee? Wouldn’t that be more reasonable?” “Probably, but how should they know that the bruises are from dancing? And that the constant skipping class is for your other schedules,” Hanbin laughed it off until he remembered another detail that Jeonghyeon mentioned.
“Wait, why do people think the two of you are dating?” “Probably because we spend a lot of time together and people assume boys and girls can’t be just friends,” Jeonghyeon said as he shrugged his shoulders. Hanbin nodded his head to show his understanding of the situation. Hanbin turned his head toward (Y/n), as their eyes met, he gave her a mischievous smile. He leaned in closer to her and kissed her on the lips, to prove that (Y/n) was dating him and not Jeonghyeon. After the kiss was over, Hanbin had a cocky smirk on his face as he glanced around the room, making all others feel slightly intimidated, resulting in them removing their attention from him and his girlfriend.
“Oohh, my bad-boy, what would I do without you?” (Y/n) said in a teasing tone as she, Hanbin, and Jeonghyeon all laughed. Hanbin might look like the stereotypical bad boy all dressed up in his idol persona, but really he is the embodiment of a golden retriever boyfriend.

As soon as you got to your place, you frowned. Sitting on the front steps, soaked to the bone, was the resident bad boy, Choi Yeonjun. You thought you saw the last of him last month when he said he was going to be laying low for a while. Apparently he got into some trouble with some rival gangs and needed to keep a low profile. So what was he doing here at the front of your place, uninvited?
With a frown, you gripped your umbrella tighter before standing in front of here. “Can I help you?”
He looked up at you with a weak smile and your breath caught in your throat. His right eye was so swollen it was completely shut and an ugly shade of gray-purple. Nevertheless, he still gave you his roguish smile. “I was wondering if you could help me.”
Nodding quickly, you fumbled with the lock on your door before pushing it open. You held the door for him as he limped inside before rushing to get a first aid kit and some clean clothes. You had no idea how long he was waiting out there and you didn’t want to risk infection. Not only that but he was sopping wet and needed to get dry before he got sick. Returning from your room, you saw that he was sitting on top of your counter, waiting for you like a good little patient.
“I’m going to dress your wounds and then you’re going to change clothes so you don’t get sick, alright?” You assured him as you assessed the damages you could see, which wasn’t much considering he was wearing long sleeves and long pants with boots.
Yeonjun smirked. “So you want me to strip down to my underwear, huh?”
You could feel your cheeks dust themselves with pink, causing you to suck your cheeks in. “Don’t start with me, mister. At least take off your jacket. I’ll start from the top and work my way down.”
“I like where this is going.” He continued to tease as he shucked off his wet leather jacket.
With a snarl, you dabbed at a cut on his forehead with antiseptic, causing him to wince. “Be serious please. You’re hurt and I need to take care of it because you obviously won’t.”
He rolled his eyes. “I would, it’s just you’re nice when you do it. At least, you usually are.”
“Well, you started it.” You shot back. “You started getting all flirty and whatever.”
“Because you’re cute when you’re flustered.”
It was your turn to roll your eyes as you pressed a butterfly bandage to his forehead. You then took care to wipe all the dried blood off his face before looking at what else needs to be done. You took note that the most prevalent wound on his arms were bruises. A couple cuts here and there that weren’t deep just got cleaned and allowed to air dry. Glancing to check his legs, you noticed a big red spot on his thigh, making you let out a shaky breath.
“You got stabbed?” You mumbled.
He shrugged. “It’s not as bad as it looks.”
As you were about to look him in the eye, you saw him taking his shirt off, revealing his perfectly toned abs and few more bruises. You quickly averted your eyes with a squeak. This caused him to laugh before throwing his shirt behind you.
“What? You need to check on these wounds too. Besides, I got kicked in the stomach repeatedly, and that hurt a lot more than the stab wound.” He explained as he looked down at his bruised stomach. “I might have internal bleeding.”
“Than you should go to the hospital-”
“Oh look I’m better.” Yeonjun gave a weak chuckle. “But, yeah, that stab wound is definitely going to need some attention, please.”
You were mildly impressed that he said please, but you were more focused on one glaring fact: he really was going to have to strip down to his underwear. There was no way you were going to be able to get to that wound in his jeans without them being removed.
Sucking in your breath through your teeth, you muttered, “Alright, you’re going to have to take off your pants.”
“Y/n are you flirting with me?” He teased with a wink. “If I knew this was your idea of foreplay, I’d play hospital patient more often.”
“Would you stop!” Though you tried to sound exasperated, you sounded more tired than anything. It had been a long day and you really didn’t need to be teased by your crush like this. You were hoping that he would never see you again when he told you he needed to lay low, so then your heart wouldn’t ache like this every time you saw him.
You were surprised that he got serious. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to bother you.”
Silently, he slipped his pants down to his knees and you found yourself thankful that he didn’t go commando, though you weren’t sure why you thought that in the first place. Turning your attention back to the wound on his leg, you carefully cleaned it. You noticed in your peripheral vision that his hand was squeezing into a fist everytime it stung. Before you could stop yourself, you took his hand to allow him to squeeze it out of comfort. Neither of you said anything as you finished cleaning it.
“It’s going to need stitches.” You mumbled. “I have a needle and some thread that’ll work. Do you need anything to numb the pain?”
Yeonjun shook his head. “I’ll be fine.”
“I’m going to need my hand back.”
“Then can I squeeze your shoulder?” He said it almost too fast, but you understood how painful it was going to be, so you nodded. His hand rested heavily on your shoulder but it didn’t impede your work. Every time the needle pierced the skin, he’d suck in his breath through his teeth and squeeze your shoulder.
When you were done, you cleaned everything up and handed him the clean clothes. “You can change in the bathroom. Also you can take the bed, I’ll sleep on the couch.”
“No, we can share the bed, it’s fine.” He said it with such authority that the argument was done before it even started. Taking the clothes, he slipped into the bathroom and you finished cleaning. You weren’t sure how you were going to survive the night.
Before too long, the two of you were in your bed, as far away as you both could be. Your heart was beating so fast you were afraid it was going to be right out of your chest and fly away. You couldn’t get the thought of half naked Yeonjun out of your head and even if he did look rough around the edges, he still looked immaculate.
You wanted to curl up into a ball and cry out in despair. If only he wasn’t all mixed up in this gang stuff. If only you met before all of this. Maybe then you would have had a chance with him. But you knew as you fell into a fitful sleep that the boy next to you that had your heart wasn’t going to be in your bed in the morning.

Shot of Truth (Ashton Irwin) - Part 2
word count: 1004 requested by: @youngblood199456 (x) pronouns: she/her warnings: none fandom: 5 seconds of summer au type: exes, bad boy summary: it’s been 4 months since you made that mixtape for your ex-boyfriend, 4 months since you’d last seen him, and 4 months since you were starting to worry you’d fucked up inspired by: @bxdlvckcharm (x) and @phoenixsbby (x) authors notes: sorry this took 3 years lol other parts: part 1 / part 2

Ashton took a deep breath before he opened the bookshop’s door, hearing the bell above his head ding. He could feel his heart beating like it was going to fall out of his chest at any moment, but he knew he could do this – he had to do this. He’d been hyping himself up for the past four months to come back into this shop and confront you about your mixtape. He hadn’t been able to think about anything other than that damn CD – that you were telling him you still loved him.
He looked around the small shop, unable to see or hear anyone around – not a cashier, not someone stocking shelves, not anyone greeting him as he entered... It was like the store was empty. He decided he’d use the opportunity of no patrons being around to find you – at least no one would be around to hear you reject him for practically ghosting you for four months.
He began walking toward the back of the shop – the only place anyone could feasibly be if they hadn’t heard someone enter – but he stopped when he heard people talking. He listened carefully upon hearing your voice, quietly making his way toward his favorite sound, and stopping at the end of the aisle of books just before he’d been spotted.
“How can he think I’m happy?” he heard you sniffle, peeking above the books to see you roughly wiping your eyes with the heel of your hand, “I’ve been miserable since the day he broke up with me and he thinks I’m happy?”
“Y/N,” your co-worker sighed, “Maybe he’s just trying to cope too. You didn’t leave that CD for nothing, did you?”
“That was months ago,” you mumbled, “If he’s listened to it, he would have said so by now. He hasn’t even come into the store since then. It probably scared him away.”
“He’s probably trying to figure out how,” she assured you, “It took you a couple weeks to come up with the idea for the CD, didn’t it? I’m sure he’s just trying to come up with an idea for a response.”
“He probably thinks I’m too clingy – that I’m too hung up on the past and am begging for him back...” you whispered, more to yourself than to Corrine, “He already broke up with me for being too much to deal with the first time around... Why would he wanna deal with this trainwreck again?”
And Ashton, finally having enough of you berating yourself, couldn’t keep himself quiet anymore.
“Because that ‘trainwreck’ is the best thing that ever happened to me!” he said angrily, making you jump when he popped out from around the corner, “And I’m not about to stand here and listen to her convince herself that I don’t love her anymore!”
Corrine rolled her eyes – took him long enough to speak up – before plucking the books out of your hands and taking the cart to finish working so you and Ashton could have a moment alone.
“A-Ashton!” you squeaked, quickly wiping the rest of your tears off of your cheeks, “What- What are you doing here?”
“I’m here to talk about that CD you left me,” he stated bluntly to keep you from avoiding it.
“You... You listened to it...?” you murmured, surprising him.
“I mean... Yeah,” he nodded, “You put it there for me to listen to, didn’t you?”
“I just... I didn’t think you did...” you admitted, keeping your gaze on your feet, “Been a while since you’ve come in here...”
“Well, uh...” he cleared his throat nervously, “Corrine wasn’t wrong when she said I’ve been trying to think of something to say.”
“I’m just- I heard you and your friend talking before... I don’t- didn’t...know you thought I was happier... I guess I just thought... You know I’m not good at talking about my feelings... I thought that would be easier... M’sorry if it made you uncomfortable...”
“Uncomfortable?” he furrowed his eyebrows, “Why would it make me uncomfortable?”
“I’m- I dunno,” you shrugged lightly, “Jus’ haven’t seen you around since then, I guess...”
“You didn’t make me uncomfortable,” he shook his head, “I never expected you to still want me is all. Those songs you picked... That was a lot for me to hear all at once.”
“M’sorry...” you repeated in a whisper.
“You have nothing to be sorry for, Y/N,” he assured you, “I know talking about how you’re feeling is difficult for you. I’m proud of you for trying anything at all.”
He saw the corner of your mouth twitch, making him barely smile as well. He watched you for a moment longer, finally realizing you hadn’t looked away from the floor.
“Hey, Y/N?” Ashton said softly, “Look at me? Please?” You barely shook your head. “Why not?” he furrowed his eyebrows again – had he done something wrong already? But, as you swallowed the lump in your throat, he could have never prepared himself for your reply.
“If I look at you again, I won’t be able to stop myself from kissing you,” you confessed so lowly, he almost didn’t hear you. But when his brain finally processed your words – when he actually realized what you were telling him – he couldn’t keep himself from smiling.
“I wouldn’t tell you to stop if you did,” he promised.
You tried to slyly wipe your face again, but Ashton took your hand and pulled it back down. He then put his hands on your cheeks and lifted your head up. Your eyes finally met his, and he could tell how hard you were trying not to start crying in front of him.
“You are my favorite person in the entire world,” he whispered, swiping his thumbs underneath your eyes, “You know that, right?”
“St-Still?” your bottom lip quivered slightly, your heart racing when he smiled at you.
“Forever,” he promised, smiling even wider when you wasted no more time in kissing him.

I’m sorry if this is too long TT, but this is kinda a slowburn? it might contain a lot of parts so wait for part 3! One of the reasons this is long af it’s because I would like to show you how Jaehyun and (Y/N)'s life is before they get together! So pls pls don’t skip anything I hope you like it!
if you want to be in the taglist, just lemme know;) enjoy!
Jung Jaehyun was an idiot.
But he was a clever idiot, and anyone who knew him would know that.
That's why within Neo Zone, his boss had the trust he had in him. Jaehyun was his best guy, or at least that's what he proclaimed enthusiastically every time the boy handed him a new payment for the merchandise he had to sell in his area.
None of his guys were as good negotiators as Jung Jaehyun.
He didn't know if it was because of the particular and convincing way he spoke or if it was because of the bad boy appearance he had, which made people pay him everything they owed him with just a bad look from him. Jaehyun didn't consider himself good at many things, but he was definitely good with numbers, maybe because since the initiation of his gang almost eight years ago, his only job was to maintain the sale - and sometimes purchase - of merchandise. So the numbers always, always had to be exact unless he wanted his boss to get angry and face consequences.
Because despite being a good worker, Jaehyun had faced consequences on multiple occasions.
His scars around his body were not a deco. They didn't have the purpose of scaring away anyone who stood in front of him. They had a slightly different origin than most people thought. Yes, some were the result of a street fight that possibly took place in one of the underground races. Perhaps from a fight against another dealer who tried to sell in his area, but many of them were caused during his early years in the business, where being a kid with little knowledge of how to handle the merchandise he carried with him, things would go wrong and he had to be punished by his own boss and the elders of the gang.
As he often heard during those years, he learned the easy way or the hard way.
Jaehyun's initiation into the gang was different from what other teenagers in Neo Zone had experienced.
In his own defense, he never believed that his initiation had been extreme compared to the experiences he had heard about, however, Jaehyun had to join the gang at the age of eleven.
Normally initiations took place between fourteen and fifteen years old, but there was an exception with the boy. Families in Neo Zone had to have at least one active member in the gang - commonly the man was that member - and it didn't matter if it was the grandfather, father, or son. There always had to be one if they wanted to continue with the safety of their family.
Because being active ensured you the protection that Lee Sooman could offer your family.
So when Jaehyun's father was brutally killed in what they called a clash in a raid. The next member of the Jung family had to take his place, and being Jaehyun the oldest brother and becoming the man of the house, he had to answer for the protection of his family, at his young age of eleven. The boy's duties initially did not involve business as such, since he was still inexperienced in the matter, but Lee Sooman took him under his wing and managed to get Jaehyun to accompany him wherever he was to start acquiring the knowledge he expected to have thanks to the experiences he had with his new boss.
But there was a time when Jaehyun had other aspirations.
There was a time when Jaehyun appreciated getting up to go to school to learn, not to keep his business running. There was a time when the boy could approach his mother while she cooked, sing together, and dance with his little brother happily.
There was a time when Jaehyun loved to sing, and all those little things that brightened his life even a little were damaged by the businesses he was starting to manage.
Because by now, Jaehyun wouldn't just be a dealer.
Lee Sooman expected a lot from him.
And he hated that he did.
If only he could escape from that zone, he would do it as soon as the first opportunity arose, but things weren't as easy as he thought.
And he knew that more than anyone else.
In the end, the only reason for his mere existence currently and the only reason he endured all he had to endure was for his family, which meant everything to him. It was all he had, it was all that drove him to continue, and it was all that gave him the strength to get up every day.
And because he was the man of the house, right?
And he had to take care and protect his family even if he didn't do it with his own life.
But maintaining that title wasn't easy, especially having a rebellious teenager as a brother and having to take care of all the bills that ran through his house.
If only his brother could make things easier for him. If only his brother would listen to him once in his life... because if there was one person who didn't listen to Jaehyun, if there was one person he found difficult to intimidate, it wouldn't be anyone other than Jeno.
And amidst all his complications, there would be no greater one than trying to make a teenager listen to him.
The streets of Neo Zone are not safe at any time of the day, but of course, they would be even more dangerous when the sun set. Jaehyun, as much as he wanted, would never understand why fate gave them that life, if only... if only they had been more fortunate and even just grown up in Kosmo*, his life would be so different.
Jaehyun hated walking the streets of Neo Zone, especially if it wasn't for business, but there he was, walking through the dark alleys that were barely illuminated by the reflection of the moon that had recently filled. His steps were short but firm, as his personality used to be. His leather jacket covered him well from the cold breeze he could feel in his bones, and the rings on his fingers helped him stay focused as he ran his thumb over them. In the distance, within an alley, he could see a pair of cigarette tails being lit as smoke emanated from the mouth of the person consuming it. Jaehyun took a deep breath as he disapproved and approached the group of boys more and more.
Immediately he could recognize him, that blue hair couldn't go unnoticed even if he wanted, what a bad choice his brother had made.
Once he found himself at the entrance of the alley, he grabbed a stick from what once seemed to be a baseball bat and, taking advantage of the distraction of those boys, he made it hit against the garbage container next to him, causing the boys to jump in fright and change their gaze towards him.
Meanwhile Jeno maintained eye contact.
"Let's go," Jaehyun snapped without hesitation.
Jeno's friends and his own brother ignored him and continued with their business, Jeno taking a drag of his joint and exhaling the smoke from his lungs with a cynical side smile. His friends let out a laugh that made Jaehyun's blood boil, and he hit the garbage container again - "I said let's go, Jeno."
His brother huffed as he rolled his eyes: "Go bother someone else, Jaehyun."
The boy clenched his jaw and, dropping the stick from his hands forcefully, he then approached the group of boys and seeing the determination with which Jaehyun walked, the boys stepped back a few centimeters, Jeno stood up and held his gaze firmly on his brother's.
When Jaehyun reached him, he snatched the joint from his lips and threw it to the ground to then step on it. He raised his gaze again and looked at the boys, who were behind his brother with a bit of panic in their eyes.
"What are you looking at? Get out of here if you don't want me to wipe that scared puppy look off your faces and give you real reasons to be scared," he snapped brusquely. The boys simply shrank in their place, not moving an inch - "Haven't you heard me? Get lost!"
This time, the group of young vandals hurriedly left the alley, leaving both boys facing each other, staring directly into each other's eyes and without saying a single word. Only annoyance could be felt emanating from each of their bodies.
"What the hell are you doing, Jaehyun? Can't you go bother somewhere else?" asked Jeno, exasperated.
"You didn't go to the school," his older brother replied with no expression on his face.
Jeno let out an incredulous laugh and shook his head amusedly - "Is that why you're here? To make a scene because I didn't go to the school?"
"I put all my damn effort so you can attend that school, and the least you can do is not skip," he said while pointing a finger at his chest and pushing him forcefully - "And what do you do all damn day, huh? This?" - he pointed at the joint that was now shattered under his foot - "Hanging out with those boys and wasting your life like this?"
"You're no better," Jeno retorted.
Jeno had had his initiation into the gang not long ago. Two years ago, when he turned fourteen, and since then, Jaehyun had managed and had done everything possible to keep his boss from involving him in any business, and to be able to maintain that, his workload had increased, since now he had to do what Jeno would have to do, because definitely being a dealer with no future was not something Jaehyun wanted for his brother. He knew Jeno was smart. He knew Jeno had the potential to be someone in life.
To have a future away from Neo Zone.
Not like him.
And the last thing he wanted was to see his brother being an addict in the alleys of Neo Zone.
"I just care about you," Jaehyun said quietly.
Jeno looked at him with his eyes reddened by the substance he had just ingested and clenched his jaw after hearing that.
"You care about me? You do the same fucking thing every day. And let me tell you that you're not just an addict, you're a damn dealer. Congratulations, you bring money to the table! But at what cost? You talk about caring? You ruin other people's lives," Jeno spat as he lightly pushed him.
Jaehyun wished he could say that those words didn't hurt him, but it was impossible. After all, they came from the mouth of his little brother, who was one of the lights of his life.
"Jeno, we're not going to argue about this," Jaehyun said as he felt his rings and ran his thumb over them "but this is not what I want for you, you have more future than those boys you hang out with, Jeno. You have more future than me. It's just that you don't want to see it... this... this is not what I want for you. I don't want you to spend the rest of your life on these damn streets looking for pleasure in some damn drugs and I don't want to see you overdose. For now, it's weed, but if you don't know how to control yourself and don't know how to handle it, it won't be just that. You're not a child, Jeno, and you should know that your actions have consequences."
"Why do you talk as if you were a saint, Jaehyun!?"
"Because I damn know what I'm talking about !" the older one exclaimed, about to explode and giving him a stern look - "Jeno, you need to understand that this is not what I want for you."
"If this is not what you want for me, why don't you do something better than getting into my damn life? Why don't you start with yourself, huh? How do you expect this not to be part of me if you have mom and me in this shitty place?"
"I'm trying, Jeno... I..."
"Trying? How? By selling more kilos every day? That doesn't help at all, Jaehyun! Why don't you do something else? Why didn't you get us out of here when you could?" he questioned as he approached him again until they were face to face. Both with a firm gaze, without hesitating and without flinching.
"Oh, I know," Jeno muttered - "you don't do shit because you're afraid of ending up like poor Sicheng, right?" - he blurted out.
And that was the last straw.
By inertia and upon hearing that name, Jaehyun's arm lifted and went to punch his younger brother's cheek, causing the area to immediately turn red and Jeno's face to move to the side. The blue-haired boy brought his hand to his cheek and slowly returned his gaze to his brother, finding a bit of regret in his eyes.
"Don't ever mention Winwin like that again," Jaehyun requested without moving.
"Fuck you."
Jeno lightly pushed Jaehyun and walked briskly out of the alley they were in.
And then Jaehyun found himself alone with regret running through his body.
If only things were simpler.

"Did you go to Neo Zone!?" Jungwoo's exclamation made (Y/N) jump in her place and quickly approach him to cover his mouth with her own hands while giving him a stern look.
"Shut up, Woo, my mother can hear you!" she retorted almost in a whisper but agitatedly. Then she removed her hand from the boy's mouth and sat down next to him on the bed.
"Are you crazy? What were you doing there on a Friday night?" he asked, accusing her. They remained silent for a few seconds, then Jungwoo jumped on the bed and looked at her in surprise.
"Who are you fucking and why didn't you tell me anything!?”
(Y/N) widened her eyes and quickly shook her head.
"None of that! God, Jungwoo, you're an idiot," she lightly tapped his head with the palm of her hand.
"I'm not seeing anyone."
The boy rubbed his head with a small pout and then looked at her curiously.
"So?"
"It was for Daeho," the girl declared.
Jungwoo rolled his eyes dramatically and stood up from the bed to stand right in front of her, crossing his arms over his chest.
"Now, what trouble did that idiot get himself into?"
With a heavy sigh, the girl looked at her hands and slightly shrunk in her place. "A big one, Jungwoo. You should have seen how he came home on Friday."
"What happened?"
"Well, what do you think happened? The idiot bought drugs and didn't pay on time. And to make matters worse, he decided to buy them from Jaehyun and made him go to Neo Zone. Apparently, his boss got angry about the debt, and believe me, he was very angry."
"And what have they done to Daeho?" he questioned her again, this time with concern in his voice.
"They beat him up, Jungwoo. He's covered in bruises and they've split his lip and eyebrow," she explained frustratedly.
"Was it Jaehyun?"
"Huh?"
"Did Jaehyun beat him up?"
"No. No, Jaehyun was with me when that happened," she commented while sighing. "But I don't know what to do, Jungwoo. I'm really worried about Daeho. I'm afraid something like that might happen again and it'll end up worse."
Jungwoo looked at her in silence for a few seconds and then sat back down beside her, taking her hands in his and giving her a slight squeeze as a show of support.
"(Y/N), I know it's not my business and you're worried about your cousin, but Daeho is not a child anymore. You can't go through life trying to fix his mistakes. He knows what he's doing, and he should know the consequences behind it," he explained gently. She took a deep breath and cleared her throat, trying to dispel the knot that threatened to form.
"I know, Jungwoo, it's just that..." she paused to take a breath, "I'm all Daeho has. I'm the only person who genuinely cares about him. The least I can do is be there for him," she bit her lip.
"And there's nothing wrong with that, really. But you can't always be by his side, hoping he won't get into trouble. Daeho needs help, yes, but he needs it from a professional before his drug problem becomes a serious one," Jungwoo affirmed, letting go of her hands and putting his arm around her shoulders to give her a slight hug.
"Do you think I haven't mentioned that to him? He doesn't want to listen."
"There's not much you can do on your own, (Y/N)."
It was then that the girl preferred not to say anything and just accept the hug her friend was giving her; because she knew that as soon as she mentioned that she had made a deal with Jung Jaehyun so that he wouldn't sell anything to his cousin again, Jungwoo would surely go crazy.
So now she not only had to hide this from Daeho but also from her best friend.
It couldn't be that difficult, right?

If there was another place Jaehyun hated besides Neo Zone, it would be the principal's office. He wouldn't have enough fingers and toes to count the number of times he found himself in that same position, sitting in a leather chair, with Principal Kim in front of him giving him a disapproving look.
"I can't do much this time, Jaehyun" the principal spoke and removed his glasses from his face to pinch the bridge of his nose with his fingers, "if you don't improve your grades, I'll have to expel you. I don't have any other excuse not to do it."
"But you have to do something" Jaehyun retorted, raising one of his eyebrows and crossing his arms, causing the principal to clear his throat and rest his glasses on his desk.
"Jaehyun, I can't keep covering up everything you do and don't improve even a little. The teachers don't want you here anymore, and if you don't raise your average, there's nothing I can do.
The boy sighed heavily and bit his lower lip. Then, the image of a Hwang came to his mind, and he smiled slightly.
"Don't worry, Principal Kim. For the next evaluations, you'll see my average clean," he explained with a smile.
"I'd like to know how will you do that?" the principal asked, incredulous.
"Studying, Principal Kim. How else would I do it?"
The principal chuckled and shook his head.
"You're warned, Jung. Now, leave my office and go study."
Without saying anything else, the boy got up from his seat and calmly left the principal's office, crossing the hallway until he reached the courtyard of his high school. He looked around, getting a couple of glances from some of his classmates, who surely weren't used to seeing him leave that office once again and as soon as his eyes located a person,
Jaehyun smiled.
He put his hands in the pockets of his jacket and walked towards the silhouette sitting under a tree, with at least five books around her and taking notes from each of them, and in which she must have been very concentrated not to feel the presence of the boy a few steps away from her. Hwang let out a heavy sigh and then cursed under her breath, dropping one of her books to the ground abruptly.
"Having a hard time, angel?" he teased while leaning against the tree behind her.
The girl quickly lifted her gaze to then look at him with annoyance and closed one of her books abruptly.
"Don't bother me Jaehyun. I have no interest in having a small talk with you right now," she said, rolling her eyes. "How do you expect me to finish all your assignments and mine before the week ends?" she asked, frustrated.
"Speaking of that, I expect a good grade on those assignments. The principal has already talked to me about kicking me out if I don't meet the average this evaluation," he said, shrugging.
"If only you bothered to study from time to time, you wouldn't have these problems," she retorted reading her notes.
"Why would I do that when I have you, sweet cheeks? Business are business, besides, I've been keeping my word" he said proudly. "How long has Daeho been clean?"
(Y/N) fell silent, thinking of a response, and answered, "almost two weeks, I believe so."
"Do you think it'll last much longer?' he asked again, and she shrugged.
"I hope so, he promised," she muttered without looking him in the eye. Jaehyun sighed and moved to sit next to her, an action that confused the girl, but she didn't comment, she simply let herself go.
A consumer's promises were the worst, and they both knew it. Despite the fact that Daeho didn't consider himself merely an addict... he was. In recent weeks, he was more often in a state of euphoria than sober, and the fact that his parents had been away for over a month was a perfect excuse to do so. Hwang feared for him and feared a lot. What Daeho saw as something harmless kept her in constant unease, because she knew that Daeho wouldn't stay clean for much longer, and there wouldn't be anything else she could do.
"At least you're the only dealer he trusts to buy from," she scoffed, shaking her head.
Jaehyun laughed softly. "You know that as soon as he feels the need, he won't only come to me. Abstinence tends to be difficult for a consumer."
"I know.'
"And what will you do? Offer more money?'
"I don't know, Jaehyun," she replied with a tired tone. "I don't know what to do with Daeho, I don't want him to end being a mess."
To the eyes of an outsider, that scenario could seem a bit funny; Hwang (Y/N) and Jung Jaehyun in the same place without wanting to pull each other's hair out, but if there was something that had caused that conversation in Neo Zone two weeks ago, it was that Jaehyun had managed to empathize at least a little with the girl. At the end of the day, all they both wanted was the best for their families.
They weren't so different in that sense, however, they didn't share anything else. They were simply acquaintances with a common purpose and nothing more.
"The evaluations are coming up, you know what that means?' he asked suddenly.
"What? do I have to do twice your assignments?" she replied with another question, and Jaehyun shook his head with a half-smile.
"Johnny's parties are also coming up, and it's something you should keep Daeho away from. You know his parties are not the healthiest and most innocent thing out there."
Johnny Suh was well known in high school for two reasons; first, because he was the son of one of the best real estate sellers in the city, making him one of the wealthiest kids in high school, and second, because of the study groups he organized near each midterms on one of his properties.
The study group that was nothing more than a facade for the big parties they really have. Every two months, students eagerly awaited that party because with Johnny Suh organizing them, how could not be the best? When it came to those parties, Johnny spared no expense, he would take one of his parents' properties, buy tons of alcohol, invite the dealers from Neo Zone, and didn't care if you were from the south or north, you were welcomed all the same because according to his own words: the more people attended, the better the fun.
And yes, it was something (Y/N) should be worried about, because Daeho could never miss one of those parties. Johnny Suh was within his circle of friends, so he wouldn't dare to let down one of his great friends, how could he?
"Cat got your tongue?" Jaehyun's voice caught her attention and she turned to look at him while exhaling deeply.
"No, Jaehyun, and I'm not in the mood for this."
"Oh, relax, angel" he spoke, raising his hands in defense "I was just mentioning Johnny's party, you know Daeho wouldn't miss it" Jaehyun continued trying to rile her up.
"Great timing for my uncles to return" she muttered, angrily gathering her things and putting them in her bag. She stood up abruptly and Jaehyun followed her.
"Hey, calm down, what's wrong?"
"Daeho's parents are coming back during midterms week and they'll surely having him running around here and there, enough reason for him to go to that damn party" she spat, starting to walk away from him with Jaehyun behind her "and as soon as Daeho stops being clean, I'll break our deal" she threatened, turning around to face him.
"You can't do it if I haven't done anything, you made the deal, you keep it" he said defensively. It wasn't the time for him to risk it and not deliver those high grades to Principal Kim.
"Yes, I can and I will, Jaehyun."
"We made a deal, you can't back down now. I'm already losing money because I'm not selling anything to Daeho".
"I can still write you a check down" (Y/N) said.
"I think I made myself clear when I told you that I didn't want your money".
Ding.
Before the boy could reproach and start an argument with (Y/N), his phone rang in his jacket and he took it out of his pocket to turn on the screen and read the text his friend had left him.
“Yukhei:
come to the garage, something happened.
10:30 am
Don't ask, just come.
10:30 am
I don't even know what happened
but they're furious.
10:31 am”
Jaehyun looked up at the sky, cursing under his breath and closing his eyes. He returned his gaze to the girl, who was now looking at him with confusion, and pointed at her with his index finger.
"I expect my assignments by the end of the week" he commented, turning around to walk away from the place and leaving a frustrated (Y/N) behind.
"Hey! Jung Jaehyun!" she called out loudly "You can't just leave me like this! Hey!”.

When he reached the garages, Jaehyun got out of his car, slamming the door shut, immediately drawing Lucas's attention. Lucas was sitting there smoking a joint, one leg propped against the wall and one hand in his pants pocket. Jaehyun approached his friend and took the cigarette from his lips, then took a drag himself.
"What the hell happened now?" he asked, exhaling smoke from his lungs and raising an eyebrow at Lucas. His friend sighed and straightened up.
"Jeno".
With the joint between his lips, Jaehyun's eyes widened, he tossed it to the ground, stomping on it, and quickly took a step forward, only to be stopped by his friend, who placed a hand on his chest. He looked at Lucas, not understanding and showing no expression, then listened to him speak.
"Before you go in there and cause a scene. I don't know what happened. Cheol Uk wouldn't tell me shit, he barely said something had happened with Jeno and they're waiting for you inside" the dark haired guy explained, lightly tapping his friend's chest.
Jaehyun's chest swelled after the deep drag he took. He closed his eyes for a moment and brought his fingers to the bridge of his nose, squeezing it slightly.
"Do you know if he's okay?" he asked, opening his eyes and met with a grimace on Lucas's face.
"Honestly, I don't know".
One of the garage doors opened, causing both boys to turn their heads towards it and seeing Cheol Uk coming out of it, nodding towards Jaehyun to enter, so the guy began walking towards there with Lucas behind him, who was immediately stopped by the guard who put his hand on the boy's chest: "I've been told that only Jaehyun can enter."
Jaehyun turned his head to give Lucas an affirmative look, who breathed deeply and stayed in his place. Jaehyun walked through the garage door, which closed seconds later, and headed towards where his boss was supposed to be.
His head was spinning, and only his brother's name ran through it. What the hell had he done this time?
He didn't even know if he was okay or where he could be, and that was eating him up anxiously.
Despite everything that could come out of Jeno's mouth and his rebellious behavior, as an older brother, Jaehyun worried a lot. Jeno was an important part of his life, and as soon as something happened to him, he wouldn't know what to do. He began playing with the ring on his hand as he continued his way, managing to hear a couple of shouts that he knew well, came from his boss; he clenched his jaw, he was right behind Lee Sooman's back, who, feeling a presence, turned halfway, face to face with the boy.
He approached dangerously. Jaehyun held his breath and suddenly, a burning sensation ran through his cheek, feeling his boss's palm hit him. Jaehyun didn't flinch, didn't complain, and simply did nothing.
He knew it was better that way..
He stayed in his place, straightened his posture, and continued to look ahead, but without making eye contact with Lee Sooman.
"Do you know what your brother's little joke has cost us?" the man asked with annoyance.
"No sir".
"A lot. Your brother is an idiot, he couldn't do something as simple as what I sent him to".
Jaehyun's body tensed, and this time, he made eye contact with his boss.
"What... do you mean you sent him to do something" unintentionally, the tone of his own voice rose, catching his boss's attention "I thought we had a deal, boss."
"Are you talking to me about deals, Jaehyun? Look, the kid came to me asking for a job, and I really admire your whole facade of wanting to feel like the responsible older brother who doesn't want anything to happen to his brother and blah, blah, blah" his boss spoke mockingly "but the boy isn't five years old, Jaehyun. It's time for him to be a grown-up, isn't it? Turn him into one, just like I did with you, right? Look at the man you are, boy".
He felt the falseness in his words, and the sound of his laughter irritated his ears, but again, he said nothing, he knew he shouldn't, and simply stayed in his place to continue listening to him.
"But Jeno and his idiot friends go and screw it up, and now it cost me money and a possible fight. Aish, they can't do anything right if you don't teach them" he muttered the latter.
The boy's brow furrowed and followed his boss's silhouette as he walked to his desk.
"A fight?"
"Yes, I sent them to leave some stuff at the train station, and they ran into Yellow Wood's guys, they stabbed one of the boys. Ah! Park will surely want to do the same" Lee Sooman sighed as he brought his hands to cover his face "and if that's not enough, the Yellow Wood guys stole the stuff, and believe me, they weren't just a few wones worth in drugs. There were a lot.
"Sir..."
"Don't try to cover for your brother, Jaehyun. He made a mistake, a big one, and now, who will pay for it? I'm sure Jeno won't."
"Excuse my brother, sir. I... will talk to him, for sure..."
"A talk won't solve my problem. I need my money, or what? Where do you expect me to get paid from? How do I pay my guys for their work? If there's no drugs, there's no money, and you know it, Jung."
"Sir, please let me do something. I... don't have the money right now. I'm paying for his medicine and..."
"Oh, Jaehyun, don't give me the same old story. Those damn medicines don't matter to me. I've helped you enough with that boy, and I know the whole story inside out and upside down."
Jaehyun's fist clenched at his sides, and he closed his
eyes for a moment, avoiding exploding right there.
"I'm sorry, sir. What do you want me to do?"
"You'll take double of the stuff on Friday when you pick it up. You'll have the weekend to sell it and deliver it to me by Monday, and let's see if you can teach that idiot brother of yours how to handle the business properly once and for all."
The boy's eyes widened, double of the stuff in one weekend? He had been struggling to make ends meet with his normal portion, and now he had to sell double in three damn days. If Jeno was okay right now, he surely wouldn't be after the scolding Jaehyun was going to give him.
"But sir, the business has been slow these days, and..."
"I don't care, Jaehyun. I don't give two shit about how you get that money, but I want all my stuff sold by next Monday, understood? If you don't deliver the money, there will be repercussions, and no, they won't be on you, Jaehyun. It's been Jeno with all this bullshit."
Without saying anything, he nodded. He supposed he would have to ask Johnny for a favor at his party; it was the only place he thought he could sell at least half of what he owed. As for the other half... he would figure out what to do with it later.
He watched as his boss pointed to the door with his hand, and Jaehyun obediently turned around to leave the place. The blood was rushing through his body, and he clenched his fists tighter and tighter as he moved.
His brother was such an idiot.
Not only had they lost the stuff, but they had also stabbed one of the Yellow Wood boys, and he knew they would come back looking to do the same. What guaranteed him that one of these days his brother wouldn't come back with a wound like that? He let out a sigh as he opened the garage door. He saw Lucas quickly approaching him, but he didn't pay the slightest attention to him because he was too busy storming towards his car with fury in his eyes.
His friend tried to stop him, but he couldn't, so he simply followed him. Both got into the car. Lucas heard the slam Jaehyun had given. He started the car without answering the questions the guy in the passenger seat was asking and drove off at speed towards his house. Lucas kept calling him, but it was in vain because Jaehyun could only think about how bad the conversation he had to have with his brother would go. The older boy's knuckles could be seen white from gripping the steering wheel, and he could hear him cursing every now and then. Lucas gave up and sighed as he leaned back in his seat; it was pointless to try to talk to Jaehyun when he was behaving like that, so he simply wouldn't bother anymore.
A few moments later, they were in front of the boy's house, where the older one quickly got out of the car, and Lucas continued his steps behind him.
"Jaehyun! What the fuck happened!?" Lucas shouted at his back, and again, he didn't receive an answer.
He aggressively entered the house, slightly alarming his mother, who was in the kitchen and, seeing the way her son had entered, left things and approached him.
"Where's Jeno?" he asked without preamble.
"What happened?" she asked, concerned.
"Where's Jeno?" he repeated, clenching his jaw.
"In his room" she didn't even finish speaking when Jaehyun was already walking towards the door, she turned worriedly to see the boy beside her and spoke: "Yukhei, what happened?"
Jaehyun opened the bedroom door with a bang and found Jeno sitting on his bed, with a bruise under his eye and his lip slightly open. The older brother exhaled deeply and approached his brother, who was already standing up and naturally, defensive.
"What the fuck do you think you did, Jeno? Huh?
"Stay out of my damn life, Jaehyun. I'm sick of it" Jeno spat as he walked towards him.
"Oh, are you sick of it?" Jaehyun asked "Wow, the little boy is tired of me only wanting what’s best for him" he said, feigning a pout "Do you know the stupid thing you and your friends did?" he questioned again as Jeno pushed him slightly with his shoulder and walked out of the room. Arriving in the living room, where Lucas was trying to distract their mother —"Not only did you lose the drugs, Jeno. You stabbed someone from Yellow Wood, do you think that's something funny to do?"
"What? Drugs?" Mrs. Jung asked confused.
"Shut up, Jaehyun" the younger one spoke through his teeth.
The boy looked at his mom and then at his friend, scoffed, and denied as he once again approached his brother: "Jeno went to Sooman to ask for a job" he confessed as his mother exclaimed in surprise "and now I have to answer for the stupid things your son did".
"Stop treating me like a damn kid!" Jeno exclaimed as he pushed him slightly, managing to anger the older one a little more.
"You want me to stop? Huh?"
"Jaehyun, Jeno. Enough" their mom intervened from her place, causing Jaehyun to turn to look at her and shake his head.
"No, Mom. Jeno doesn't want to be treated like a kid anymore? Fine. Does he want to ruin his life? Fine. If the boy is old enough to make decisions for himself and get into things he has no fucking idea about; let him. I don't give a shit anymore. I already have enough responsibility for this house as it is for him to come and add more".
Silence fell in the living room, with Jaehyun and Jeno staring directly at each other. With their mother leaning on Lucas, who was supporting her, and Jaehyun could only catch between his ears, the boys' accelerated breaths in front of them.
"You have no idea what you're getting into, Jeno. Do you think it's easy to go out there with that stuff and sell it like chocolates? What are you going to do when you don't meet the quota? Huh? Will you take responsibility and face the consequences? Ah, right. You're not a child anymore, and you don't need me. So if something happens... Don't you dare come running to me, because if you have the balls to get into this shit. You'll have the balls to solve your problems. Once you enter in this shitty hole, there's no way out" he ended slowly as Jeno widened his nostrils. He turned around and left the house with a bang, making his mother jump in her place, and with tears shining in her eyes, she moved away from Lucas to approach her older son.
"Jaehyun... "she murmured as her son enveloped her in his arms and hid his head in her chest "he's still my baby" she sobbed.
Jaehyun looked at his friend, who only gave him a sad smile and lightly patted his back, silently demonstrating the support he would always provide.
"I know, Mom. Jeno will be okay" he replied in a whisper as he stroked her hair and planted a kiss on the top of her head "I promise you that someday I'll get you out of here, even if I have to stay behind"
His mother raised her head to look into her son's eyes, and a tear rolled down her cheek: "Jaehyun, I can't take this anymore. You're my children, I don't want to see you both ruined, I can't" the boy choked up and once again caressed her hair.
"I'll get you out of here, someday I'll be able to do it, including him. I'll get all four of us out of here, I promise you".
His mom nodded with another tear running down her face and pressed her lips slightly. Jaehyun moved away from her and moved towards Lucas, to nod his head indicating that he should accompany him out of the house. Both boys walked in silence towards the door, where they were stopped after hearing the words that came out of Mrs. Jung's mouth.
"Don't end up like your father, Jaehyun."
The weight those words carried was something the boy couldn't believe.
Because that was something he wasn't sure he could promise.
______________________________________________
Once her uncles set foot in the city, it would be total chaos. It was something that (Y/N) knew, something she was aware of, which was why she simply hated the thought of it happening for two simple reasons: first, because then she would have to be even more attentive to her cousin and his possible impending collapse due to the pressure his parents put on him as soon as they arrived in the city.
And second, because their arrival meant a family dinner at her house; which had no other result than to talk once again about the future that awaited both of them and the vast comparisons their mothers loved to make between them, creating an endless discord: to see which family had more than the other, or to allude to who had a better present and future than the other.
At her ripe eighteen years, (T/N) never managed to understand the dynamics of her family. Were all families like hers? She didn't understand why her father and uncle had this constant competition between them; as brothers, it was the last thing they should have. Did money eventually turn you into such a person? Was it something that Daeho and she would become when they were responsible for the companies? She couldn't wrap her head around that scenario, the last thing she would want is for there to be some kind of conflict between them when they both needed each other, both had each other's backs, and both were the support for each other.
What a great family environment existed in that residence.
And if she could add a third reason: it was that she hated having to behave like the perfect daughter everyone expected her to be.
Coincidentally and to her own misfortune, the dinner at her parents' house was on the same night as Johnny Suh's party.
One more concern to her list.
With the faint reflections of the moon on her room and the gentle breeze coming through her large window, she gave one last careful look in her mirror, observing her figure wrapped in a black dress that ended just above her knee, a white and fluffy sweater that covered her from the coolness of the night, and her platform boots that complemented the style of the rest of her outfit.
She sighed... approached her dresser, picking up the first pair of earrings she saw to put them on her ears and let out another sigh. She never understood the formality of dinners at home, in the end, it was just her parents, her two uncles, Daeho, and herself who would end up sitting at the long dining table, but what she did know was that if she dared to come down with any outfit that didn't please her mother enough... she would instantly make her go back to change her clothes to something more suitable for her... or for them rather. Because according to her mother; you never know who the next person you might meet is.
Yes, even in her own home.
Where there wouldn't be more than six people.
She had tried multiple times to get in touch with Daeho since early in the morning, as soon as she had found out that her uncles' flight had arrived, however, he didn't answer her calls or text messages; which was enough to make (Y/N) nervously bite her nails. Something that had her tired, she was tired of living like this, worrying about everyone but herself, but if she didn't worry about her cousin the way she did, who would?
She was well aware that Daeho was not a child of five years to be in charge of, but sometimes she felt like he was. With the little attention he received from his parents and all the attachment and emotional dependence he had developed towards his cousin, (Y/N) had no choice but to fulfill that role, but... how much more would it consume of her?
She was grateful to have Kim Jungwoo in her life; the only sincere friend who had crossed her path. False friendships that could arise around her were no surprise to the girl: status was everything. If you wanted people to see you well, recognize you for something, and not sideline you, you had to hang out with people of your same level. (Y/N) tried to remember all those times she tried to create friendships, but ones that were sincere, each of those times ended in a failed attempt when she realized that people didn't really care about her but the great dollar sign that pursued her as if it were an ornament.
What a fake life.
That's why the affection she had for Jungwoo was immense. The only person who gave herself the opportunity to get to know her without judging her, the only person with whom she didn't have to maintain a whole facade.
She hated pretending; everyone thought she was perfect, that her life was perfect, the presentation she always carried was perfect, they even thought her family was perfect; she had spent the last few years of her life trying to keep up appearances, continuing with the facade that her parents and uncles had created and if Daeho screwed up, it all fell on her, because she was the one who had to fix it, because she was the one who had to assure everyone that everything was fine in her family... because if she let her guard down and showed her reality; the dream world that the Hwang family had invested so much in pretending would come crashing down like a freshly kicked sandcastle.
And so, seconds turned into minutes and minutes into hours and when she least expected it, she found herself uncomfortably seated between her mother and Daeho, with a plate of food that, for the moment, didn't look appetizing at all and with her leg bouncing slightly from the anxiety emanating from feeling the tense atmosphere she was wrapped in.
Her mind was elsewhere. The last thing her ears had captured was the conversation her uncle had created about his recent trip to New York, where he had signed a couple of agreements and where... she couldn't remember anything else.
It reminded her a lot of her childhood, where they would both sit for hours beside their parents listening to them talk about business, money, agreements, and a thousand things that at her age they wouldn't understand but that according to their parents, getting involved from an early age in the world they lived in would help them shape their future.
In a way, she felt like her childhood had been stolen. Instead of being able to go out to the huge yard of her house to play like any normal child, she had to stay inside to attend one of her mother's arranged classes for her. Instead of listening to a story that her father had to tell her before going to sleep, she found herself with the stories he told her about "how he became the successful businessman he was and how she had to do the same" or the times when they always wanted to include her in the adult world when she was barely in elementary school.
But she never complained... at least she had a family and a roof over her head, she convinced herself of the luck she had of being born into the family she had... a total privilege.
When she lifted her eyes from the fixed point they had been pinned to, she could notice out of the corner of her eye how Daeho simply limited himself to eating in silence, nodding from time to time and feigning a smile here and there, moving his cutlery slightly and taking small bites of his food.
At least she wasn't the only anxious person at the table.
Her gaze lifted when her name came out of her mother's mouth, who was watching her expectantly with a smirk: “Isn't that right, sweetheart?” her mother inquired.
“Hmm, excuse me?” she questioned with a small voice as the adults' gazes were fixed on her.
“Oh, sweetheart, it's disrespectful not to pay attention to the matters discussed at the table” her mother gave her a fake smile that simply made the girl change her gaze to her hands resting on her lap and tilt her head in apology, causing her mother to let out a snort that was only heard by her “Your uncles and we have been talking about the fact that Daeho and you are about to graduate, we believe it's time to start looking at which universities you'll get into” her mother explained, staring at her intently “although, personally, your father and I have had this whole life plan we created for you since you were seven, remember we talked about studying abroad?
“Oh! We also want our Dae to study abroad! We had thought about Oxford! Isn't that right, honey?”Daeho's mother spoke with enthusiasm addressing her husband, who only smiled as he nodded.
(Y/N) and Daeho shared glances for a couple of seconds, precipitating what was to come, and smiled sadly at each other.
“Umh, mom? I don't think this is something we should discuss right now... there's still a little time before we graduate. I don't think it's a... necessary topic right now...”
The girl was interrupted by a gasp from her mother, who looked slightly offended and placed a hand on her chest, shaking her head from side to side.
“You say there's still time? (Y/N), you graduate in a year, do you think that's little time? We should start looking at universities, especially if we want to send you abroad.”
Taking a breath in surprise, she spoke: “Mom, abroad?” the girl let out a sigh “I don't think it's necessary, I mean... Seoul has incredible universities and curriculums, it's not necessary to go far from home...”
“Seoul?” her mother asked incredulously “Do you think I, your mother, will send you to some mediocre university in Seoul? You must be crazy if you think you'll end up at any of those universities” she continued with contempt “You, miss, will get into an Ivy League university, like your father and uncle did and there’s no other way.”
The table fell into a small silence, where only the looks of Mrs. Hwang and (Y/N) were shared intensely, when slightly the voice of Daeho's mother was heard:
“Well, we also have to see if she's capable of passing the exams first, don't we?” she said quietly before delicately wiping her lips with the cloth napkin on her lap.
The gaze of (Y/N)'s mother abruptly changed to the other woman, who only smiled sideways in a mocking tone and feeling her cousin's body tense beside her, the girl's anxiety shot up a thousand miles per hour anticipating what was to come.
“What did you just say?”
“I think you heard me right, sweetheart. We must see if my niece really has the ability to pass exams as important as those of the Ivy League, because believe me, dear” she changed her view to the girl “it's not just going, sitting down, and looking pretty as you've done all these years.
It felt like a punch… right into her face.
Was it really like that? Did her appearance speak more than the effort she had put into her work for so long?
Was that how they really perceived her?
She knew she had much more to offer... why were they reducing her to just that? She was dedicated, she was responsible... wasn't all her effort worth it?
Wasn't it enough?
“I think you're the least qualified person to talk about children, Eunji” (Y/N)'s mother attacked “Daeho is no delicate flower, the disaster he is when you don't pay attention to him...”
The eyes of the mentioned boy widened and immediately (Y/N) dropped her hands on her table and got up from her seat.
“Mom! Stop this” the girl exclaimed.
“Do you think I'm going to let this woman come to my house to talk about you and my family like that, when we welcomed her with open arms?” her mother reproached, standing in front of her.
“You don't have any right to talk about mine either” now Eunji joined the conversation.
“Oh, come on, Eunji, stop being so blind and realize the kind of son you have.”
Daeho didn't need to be there anymore, which was why he fleetingly got up from his seat and without saying more, left the house with more haste than his cousin had ever seen. (Y/N) dropped her cloth napkin on the table with noticeable annoyance to try to go after her cousin, it was when her mother took her by the arm, squeezing firmly.
“Don't you dare set foot outside this house.”
She didn't know if it was the anger running through her veins or the tiredness of always wanting to do what her mother thought was right; but she didn't need to think twice when without looking back she went out the large door of her house, taking the keys to her car on the way. Her throat felt weird, she didn't want to waste a single tear. She shouldn't. With her hands slightly trembling and biting her lip, she took her cell phone and pressed a couple of numbers on it, waiting for the other line to answer.
With heavy breaths and sitting in the driver's seat of her car, she listened to the rings her phone produced and when she finally heard a response, she spoke quickly:
“Jungwoo, I'm sorry for calling late, but there’s a party we need to go”.
_____________________________________________
The scenario in which Jung Jaehyun found himself was not unfamiliar to him. His ears had been ringing from a few meters away before he arrived at one of the Suh residences; with Wong Lucas by his side and stepping out of his own car: a BMW M2, a car that he had won from a rich kid in one of his many bets a few months ago, thanks to his luck and his driving skills.
And since then, it had become his favorite car. Luckily, he could occasionally take it to his friend Taeyong's workshop to make some adjustments and add a couple of details to make the car even better.
Entering the mansion, he could see some familiar faces a few meters away from him. Some greeted him warmly as their dealer was just entering, while others tried to avoid him like the plague. Either way, Jaehyun didn't care how they looked at him.
He came with a single purpose in mind.
It was incredible to see how much someone like Johnny Suh could invest in one of his parties: it was crazy to see how he splurged everything for a simple night. However, that was his perfect hook for his businesses, and if he had to give double the money to Sooman by Monday, he had to get started right away.
Without exchanging a single word with Lucas and lightly taking him by the arm, he brought him closer to the wall; from his pocket, he took out a couple of small bags and immediately handed them to his friend, who only nodded, understanding everything and putting what Jaehyun had given him into the pockets of his jacket. They hugged with a quick pat on the back, and again, without saying anything, they separated.
Observing the environment cautiously, Jaehyun went into the luxurious house, trying to blend in with the people there. His ears were still ringing, and the smell of marijuana reached his nose. He inhaled subtly and relaxed his posture when Johnny Suh's figure stood in front of him.
"Jung Jaehyun!" the guy exclaimed, opening his arms. "Welcome to the Suh residence, my favorite dealer. What do you have for me this wonderful night?" he asked curiously while waving his hands.
Jaehyun put his hand in his pocket and carefully showed him the contents he had there, causing Johnny to smile ecstatically.
"Half or an ounce?" Jaehyun asked, putting the small bag back into his jacket.
"An ounce, my friend."
Friend, surely.
"You know how much it is," Jaehyun said as he took out the small bag again and placed it in the guy's hand, receiving a 50,000 won bill in his other hand in return. "Dude, I don't have any change with me," he warned.
"What are you talking about, Jae? Keep the change and enjoy the night. The drinks are by the kitchen, take whatever you want, and if you happen to go up to any of the rooms, don't forget to lock it," he patted his chest with a wink from his eye and left his sight without saying more.
Even with a bit of evident surprise on his face, he tucked the bill into his wallet and continued on his way; it would be a long night, so why not have a little fun while selling all his stuff?
He didn't know at what exact moment his first drink of the night ended, nor did he know at what moment he found himself among a circle of people who had bought at least a quarter of what he needed to sell, nor did he know at what moment his hand ended up on the waist of a girl who was looking at him while batting her eyelashes at him.
He knew better than anyone that it wasn't time to get drunk, especially with the heavy merchandise he was carrying with him, but how good it felt the slight dizziness that passed through his head, the weed made him momentarily forget everything. When he was younger, he had sworn he wouldn't fall into alcohol so easily, but it was a temptation that was hard to resist, and eventually, weed also helped. For a moment, he could be himself and forget everything at home, in his neighborhood, at work.
But how hard it was when all that effect wore off and he became simply Jaehyun again, the number one dealer of Neo Zone.
His eyes momentarily diverted from the girl in front of him, watching as at the back of the room there was a Yellow Wood guy; one of the gang his brother had gotten into trouble with, selling a package similar to the ones he was selling to none other than Hwang Daeho.
He didn't know what had come over him because clearly it wasn't his problem, but slowly he left the small group he was in, hearing behind him how the girl he had spent the whole night with called him while he ignored her, heading towards the two young men.
"Hey, Chris," Jaehyun greeted with a serious expression. "Don't worry, I'll take care of this guy."
"Oh, Jung, don't get involved when I'm finishing a deal," the mentioned one responded as he pocketed the bills Daeho had given me. "Don't think we've forgotten about the little show your brother and his friends put on a couple of months ago on the train tracks."
He clenched his jaw and could feel Daeho tense beside him. "It's not like I'm going to forget that you're dealing and doing business in Neo Zone territory either, go back to your city and sell there," the tattooed guy explained as he dangerously approached him.
"Look, Jung, the last thing I want tonight is a fight, so stop getting in my way," Chris replied as he walked away from the guys.
When they were alone, Jaehyun stood in front of Daeho and stretching out his hand, he spoke: "Give me what he sold you."
It wasn't his problem, so why was he doing this? He hadn't sold him anything, so he hadn't broken any deal.
Was alcohol playing tricks on him, making (Y/N)'s face appear in his mind? Daeho looked at him without understanding what he was asking for, and that was enough for Jaehyun to let out a heavy sigh to repeat: "Give me any crap that idiot sold you."
"Look, Jaehyun, I don't know what's going on, and if this has to do with buying from someone outside your area, I'm sorry, but dude, you haven't wanted to sell me anything in the last few weeks, and I can't go a single damn day without getting something else," Daeho explained, putting the package away in his bag and refusing to comply with what Jaehyun had just asked.
"I don't give a damn that you can't keep your damn body clean, but apparently, your cousin does care, so give me that," he demanded again.
"What does (Y/N) have to do with all this? Are you fucking her or something?" asked the boy in front of him with annoyance, and now that he paid attention, his eyes were slightly bloodshot.
He didn't have time to deal with a junkie right now.
"Go ahead, champ. Go keep putting that crap into your body, I don't want you crossing paths with me all night," Jaehyun requested, touching the bridge of his nose, feeling Daehyuk getting closer to him.
That guy had courage out of nowhere.
And that's what a substance can do for you.
"I remind you that you're no better than me, you consume it and sell it."
Daeho stepped away from him, leaving him alone and causing him to clench his fist. He was tired, tired of remembering every minute of his life how messed up it was. Did he have another option? No, he didn't have any other option, right now, it was either to sell all that heaviness in the pockets of his jacket or risk ending up on Monday with a beaten body and having to hide it from his mother.
The night was still young, and he had to end up with those empty pockets. He just hoped Lucas was doing his part correctly.
____________________________________________
Jungwoo was next to (Y/N); it had been a while since he and his friend went out partying, and although clearly, she wasn't there to have fun, she wanted to make the most of the night.
The girl next to him scanned the room for any sign of her cousin, but there was no trace of him. The familiar faces of her classmates ran through her mind, and she was starting to feel overwhelmed.
"(Y/N), I know you're worried about your cousin and all that," heard her best friend's voice above the music, "but I also know you need to have some fun. Why don't we do that? It's been a while since we've been to a party; we should make the most of it, and then later, you can kick Daeho's ass."
"I don't know, Woo."
"Look, the same pressure Daeho says he feels is the same pressure your parents put on you, and after the scene they made today at dinner? Don't you think you deserve a break?"
Jungwoo approached the table where a couple of drinks were, quickly preparing a paloma for his friend and handing it to her after finishing it.
"Let's enjoy the night, break away from your home, and be yourself. Not the girl your parents expect you to be, not the girl your business expects you to be. Just the teenager you are now, just that." The girl, although not very convinced, nodded and then took a sip of her drink, feeling that Jungwoo had put more alcohol than soda in it. The boy laughed at his friend's reaction and hugged her by the shoulders.
"Alright, let's have fun tonight."
(Y/N) had never been a big fan of alcohol, especially beer. If she occasionally enjoyed a drink, it was usually some kind of elegant wine that her father had in the mini wine cellar at home; some kind of Cabernet Sauvignon or Pinot Grigio... however, tonight, the acidity that ran down her throat every time she took a sip of her commercial beer was a feeling of ecstasy.
She didn't know if it was because Jungwoo's words were really resonating in the back of her head, where she remembered that, right now, what she needed to do was relax and distance herself from her family. Because she deserved it. So she wasn't sure when she lost sight of her best friend during the night, maybe it was sometime around eleven or twelve at night when Jungwoo left her side; nor was she sure when her head started to feel light after the third beer, but she was sure she was starting to lose count.
Normally, it was always Jungwoo and (Y/N), stuck side by side and never separating, which is why, at that moment, it was strange to see the girl around classmates, with whom she rarely engaged in conversation, but she truly didn't care in the state she was in, because she was having a good time, and especially because a nice guy, whom she didn't recognize, was making her laugh like she hadn't in a long time.
Her phone felt heavy in the small bag she was carrying, especially because she was aware of the numerous calls and messages she had been ignoring from her mother since she had arrived at the Suh residence, and although she knew she should answer those calls, she firmly believed that she didn't want to deal with her and her father.
For now, she just wanted to be a girl having fun and forgetting about everything else.
The image of Daeho had been temporarily erased from her mind a while ago, but at some point in her night, the doubt of whether Jung Jaehyun had attended the party had arisen.
Still, she couldn't see him.
Amidst all the numbness her mind was going through, she didn't notice when subtly the guy she had been talking to for an hour moved her away from the group of people they were with. Chris, she remembered his name, had a slight grip on her waist; something she hadn't paid the slightest attention to.
"Why are we moving away?" (Y/N) asked in a sleepy voice, letting herself be guided by the steps the guy took.
"Oh, I just thought it would be good if we moved away a bit to talk more. You know, we can get to know each other a little better," the guy responded, causing the girl to overlook the hint of malice that came out of his mouth.
"But we were fine with the others," she dragged her words as she tried to move away from Chris's grip on her body. "Where's Jungwoo?" she asked when her inner alarm went off.
"He must be around here somewhere, don't worry; we'll look for him later," he replied as he gently brought his lips to the girl's ear and then moved them to her jawline. "Let's have a good time for now."
A light kiss was planted there, and it was then that her senses returned coldly, and all the dizziness she had previously experienced disappeared slightly; putting her hands on the guy's chest to push him away abruptly.
"No, I don't want to look for him later. I want to go with Jungwoo now," the girl demanded after her failed attempt to push him away.
"Calm down, Hwang. You've been practically all over me all night; it's not time to start playing hard to get, is it?"
"What are you talking about, idiot?" she questioned sharply and tried to push him again; she looked into his eyes with anger and could see in them the way they were droopy, slightly bloodshot, and that's when she could gather who this guy was and what he did with his lif “let go of me now or...”
"Or what? Stop pretending to be a fucking innocent; it doesn't suit you," he said as he, again, brought his mouth to the girl's neck.
And surprised by the strength she found in that moment, with a strong push and after struggling, she was able to push him far enough to release a punch that went straight to his jaw.
"You damn bitch," the guy spat, letting go of her and grabbing her face.
"That would be the last time you touch me, and get that if a girl says no, it's because she means no."
"You'll regret it, you fucking bitch."
With her heart pounding in her chest and her mind still accompanied by a slight dizziness, she began to move away from the guy and the dark hallway she was in. It was difficult to walk when her legs felt shaky from the scene she had been involved in; she scolded herself mentally for drinking the amount of alcohol she had drunk, knowing well her low tolerance to it.
She looked for Jungwoo with her eyes, and it was difficult to find him when her vision was blurry. She wanted to get out of there. She wanted to do it now.
What an idiot Chris had been. She hated it when men looked for things that weren't there. She had never hinted that she wanted anything, nor that she wanted to get away from the group. She felt dirty to remember where his hands had been. How his fingerprints felt on her skin and how she wanted to hit him again in his stupid face.
She felt something strange in her chest, she didn't know how to explain it; it was a combination of anger and vulnerability she was experiencing. The slight distress she felt there could be noticed on her face, surrounded by so many people under the effects of who knows what substance, feeling her body reacting slowly and not knowing where the hell Jungwoo had gone.
When she felt a hand on her arm, stopping her steps, she feared it was Chris, who had gone after her. And with her breath caught in her throat, she turned around to find a pair of eyes that took her by surprise.
"Hey, are you okay, Angel?"
She thought it was the first time she was glad to see Jaehyun.
It wasn't weird seeing Jaehyun in Johnny's house, she knew he's use to come to this parties at the end his presence was required if her classmates wanted to have a good time. What it was weird to her a that in the last two weeks he has seen Jaehyun more often that her own cousin, that always seemed to have an excuse to avoid her.
She didn’t know if it was of the dizziness she was feeling or what, but Jung Jaehyun looked good. All dressed up in black leather, with his neck tattoo decorating his body and his pulled hair back. She must be really fucked up if she was thinking in how hot Jaehyun looked.
But that wasn’t the case right now, she needed someone because she couldn’t trust herself in that state.
And right now, among all the people inside the residence and adding that Jungwoo was nowhere to be found, Jaehyun was the only person she could rely on.
Could she really?
She thought there wasn't much difference between Chris and Jaehyun. In the end, they both did the same thing. Sure, in different areas, but their lives revolved around similar things; situations, people, experiences.
"I... I don't know where Jungwoo is," she clumsily said.
In her voice, Jaehyun could notice the slight clumsiness in tone, realizing that the girl had been drinking, approaching her delicately, now he could see the expression of concern on her face.
"And then that idiot of Chris," she continued with a disgusted face, and upon hearing the mention, Jaehyun defensively turned to look at her.
"Has Chris approached you? Was it something about Daeho?" he asked quickly.
(Y/N) nervously bit her lip to avoid the boy's gaze and again put her gaze on the hall where they were.
Where the hell was Jungwoo?
"Shit," the girl blurted out when she realized, "Chris sold something to Daeho, didn't he?" Seeing the expression on the boy's face, she knew the answer. "Damn it, I'm so sick of this," she said as she put her hands on her head. Her breathing quickened, and she felt her hands trembling. "What the hell do I have to do for Daeho to stop this nonsense? I came here to find him, and then Jungwoo thought it would be a good idea to have fun," she spoke quickly, causing Jaehyun to only catch a few words. "I'm sick of my mom and my aunt arguing about which family is better, then Jungwoo disappears, and the stupid of Chris tries something with me”.
"What? Has he done something to you?" Jaehyun asked, surprised.
"What's the point of having this damn deal with you?" she ignored the boy's words and continued, "I know you told me that Daeho would find another dealer as soon as he wanted to use again, but I had hoped he wouldn't. Now I'm overwhelmed with my tasks and yours, that damn report I have to submit in four days, and my mind is stuck. I don't know what else to do to keep everything at one hundred percent, when I'm not even at five percent," she confessed without thinking, and when she realized what she had done, she lowered her gaze. "Sorry, I know you're not someone who cares about this."
She turned around without letting the boy say anything, and after walking a bit, she heard behind her:
"Come on, I'll take you home."
Her brow furrowed, and she turned to face the boy, confused, she asked, "Huh?"
"It seems like you've been drinking a bit too much, and Jungwoo is nowhere to be found, I'll take you home, even if your car is parked around, I don't think it's wise to drive like this."
"What about you?"
"I stopped drinking two hours ago," the boy replied simply, "let's go."
When Jaehyun started walking, (Y/N)'s steps became almost automatic; without thinking about where she was going or with whom, they only followed the silhouette of the boy in front of her without a word.
Perhaps a few seconds later, when she noticed she was in front of Jaehyun's BMW, her mind questioned what she was doing.
She hadn't made wise decisions tonight.
With her hand hesitating on the door handle, debating her actions and whether she should get into the car or not, with her senses heightened knowing it was Jung Jaehyun who, presumably, would take her home, and with the same, already inside the car, waiting for her to react and finally make up her mind; her body trembled.
The music from the residence still echoed in her ears, yet above it, she could hear Jaehyun calling her from inside... and then, without further thought; she got into the car.
The car, to her surprise, looked clean; the scent she could perceive from it was odd... like a combination of marijuana and vanilla, in smoky tones... and now that she thought about it of the few times she managed to be close to Jaehyun, that was the same smell she perceived, and she couldn't help but think it was a pleasant smell. Odd but pleasant.
Jaehyun knew where the Hwang residence was, he had been close once when he had to make some deliveries in that area; that's why he didn't need to ask the girl for any directions, besides he didn't feel like having a chat, especially with someone he doubted was in their right mind.
The first few minutes were silent, she could hear (Y/N)'s soft breathing above the sounds of his own car, and he hoped the rest of the journey would be like that; until she decided to speak: “do you use as well?”
Jaehyun was taken back for the sudden question and the he shook his head. “Sometimes I smoke weed, but that the only thing I use. I don’t like other shit, I might not be the greatest person but I appreciate my body” he said jockingly. It was weird seeing Jaehyun joking with her. “But really, weed is the only thing I like.”
“Doesn’t make you an addict?” she questions again.
“Don’t think so” he answers. “I don’t do it often. Only when I’m really stressed about something, I can control myself” he says and she stayed quiet for a couple of minutes.
“What's next for you?" She asked out of sudden again, making Jaehyun furrow his eyebrows while he kept looking at the road.
"What do you mean?" Jaehyun asked without looking at her.
"It's the last year of school, do you know what's next for you?" (Y/N) asked again this time she stop looking at the window and she put his gaze in him.
Jaehyun scoffed "Do you really want to know?"
Did he really wanted to answer?
This is the longest talk they have ever had.
"I mean... I guess so"
The boy hated thinking about future. And now he hated even more because some preppy girl had to ask about it.
"I don't know" he said. "I don't think about future a lot if I'm honest" he didn't know why he answer though. He could just not say nothing if he wanted to.
"But you should" (Y/N) commented. "College is just around corner and there's a lot of options you should look up".
Jaehyun let out a laughter that left (Y/N) confused. Was he laughing at her? She tilted her head, she didn't know what was so funny.
"College isn't an option for me" he said as he stopped in a red light and then he moved his head so he could look at her. He didn't know why he was telling all of this. "There's no next for me after high school"
"You can't be serious" she mumbled. "There most be and option that can suit you"
"You don't know shit" he said and that alone made (Y/N) move in her sit a little bit uncomfortable.
"No, I might not but if you say that there's no other option for you... then I'm sorry, Jaehyun, I think I have to end the deal with you."
When Jaehyun abruptly stopped the car, he was glad that there was a red light at the traffic signal.
"What?"
"I'm tired of trying to help Daeho when he doesn't want to be helped," she confessed without even looking at him, "and... I think it's time to focus on me. It's too much work. Yours... mine... if I want to keep good grades, my assignments alone are enough, and if you don't have an interest in making something good for you, then I'll stop helping you out as well".
Jaehyun shook his head: "No, but I need your help. I can't fail. I can't be kicked out of school."
"I don't understand, Jaehyun," she said, changing her gaze from the street to the boy's eyes, "I don't understand why all this fuss about not being able to be kicked out of school if it’s because you don't want to ruin your business, not because you genuinely want to be better in your school life. You said it yourself, college isn't an option for you so, if this is only about your work I don't want to be involved or have any influence in something that is not legal".
Jaehyun's hands tensed on the steering wheel.
"You don't need to understand," he said as he moved forward at the green light, "they can't kick me out of school," he repeated firmly.
"Well, I'm sorry, Jaehyun. I made the decision. I appreciate the weeks when you didn't sell anything to Daeho, but even so, he finds a way to consume. It's not your fault. And I finally realized it's not my fault either. I also appreciate you taking me home, but after tonight, you'll go your way and I'll go mine."
"So you're okay with me being kicked out?" He asked with a side smile.
"We're not friends, Jaehyun" she stated. "We were just helping each other out. But if my cousin doesn't want to be helped, I don't need your help neither. I’m sorry if you needed mine but I can’t keep up with this anymore. Being involved with you was dangerous enough and I think it’s for the better"
It hadn't been long since the damn deal had taken place, but inside Jaehyun, he liked having an occasional interaction with the girl, especially if it was to annoy her... he found it funny every time she wrinkled her nose when she was upset with him or the way she tenderly rolled her eyes after he made a silly comment on purpose.
He might got used to her a little.
"I knew you rich kids weren’t faithful to your word" he said. "I guess I can't force you to anything," Jaehyun let out a sigh.
Another fifteen minutes passed in complete silence, with some discomfort on both sides. (Y/N) looking anywhere out of the windows but not putting her gaze on Jaehyun, and the boy was focused on the wheel.
Anyone who saw the scene would laugh to see two people as different as Hwang (Y/N) and Jung Jaehyun in the same car.
She was sure Jungwoo would laugh if he saw them.
Of course, after she kicked him a few times for leaving her.
She didn't notice precisely when they were entering her residence; it wasn't until the car stopped abruptly, and she could see through the window the immense house in front of them.
It was more appealing to stay in that car with the dealer than to deal with her mother.
"I guess it's time for me to go," (T/N) said, grabbing the car handle, "Thank you... Jaehyun... for bringing me, and I'm sorry I can't help you with your work anymore... but I can't do it."
The boy smiled slightly and adjusted his jacket as he shook his head.
"Take care, Angel," Jaehyun said and then said no more.
Jaehyun hadn't been a bad guy to her during the time they had agreed on the deal, however... for her own good; she hoped they wouldn't cross paths again, like it was before the start of the deal.
Jung Jaehyun was a dealer from the Neo Zone, and she had an image to uphold, that's why it was better for each to take their place.
But what was that she felt when she got out of the car and saw Jaehyun leave without even looking at her one last time?

Chapter 1. Lavender Power Lines
Up top, the roof of Rutherford High sat a boy and girl. The gated outer boundaries of the secluded area had the occasional bird chirp or the low chatter from other students below in the athletic field.
Taking down his graduation cap, he looks up at the sky as the girl sat beside him. Minutes away their high school carrier would end, sunlight beams down onto them the same as any other day they'd come to the roof. If not share the poorly made food from the cafeteria then exchange words. Emotions.
After all, this is how they met some time ago. Last he remembers she stumbled upon him doing as he does now. Soaking in the quiet. His sense of peace in his presence; soon in hers. He inhales deeply, the faint smell of Petrichor drew him down to her level.
His hands rested behind his head while the girl stretches turning to lay on her side to face him.
"And to think you used to sit up here sulking." Crimsyn slyly chimes. "You almost hated being here as much as you hated me."
"I didn't hate you. You were persistent and stubborn and I wasn't a fan."
Crimsyn lightly shoves him. "And what of it? Somehow I made your teenage dirtbag wannabe ass worth being around."
"Unfortunately, yes. But I didn't doubt you for a second."
Clouds moved across the sky slowly. Its baby blue backdrop mingles together with the sun piercing through. Jaesyn draws in a breath, shrugging to himself.
Her soft hand rubs his shoulder.
"We still have the summer left after graduation, Jace. Both our acceptance letters from the same college came so us sticking together after the fact is foolproof."
"Yeah I know, it's just..." Jaesyn strays off. "Four years went by like it never happened Crim."
Admittedly, it was four years for hell for a lousy piece of paper but all the memories and hard work made up for it. She only regretted not becoming friends with him sooner instead of having a year and a half worth of enemies to friends moments with him.
She gets up taking his hand.
"Well, try better remembering these next four okay?"
Tumblr media
"Careful with those boxes Jace!" Crimsyn said coldly.
Move-in day was off to a rocky start as London and Jaesyn helped unpack the last of their belongings inside their dorm room. About the size of a small studio apartment, it sat on the fourth floor overlooking the lake.
"I still can't believe this school allows coed dorms," Jaesyn spoke under his breath, shaking his head in misdoubt as he drops to his barren mattress.
Their boxes of belongings were separated via each half of the room by their initials while London let out a huff resting a duffel bag on the floor.
"I don't know 'bout y'all but I'm hungry. Pizza sounds good?"
They nod in unison.
"Great. I'll leave you two alone to tidy up."
London opens the door closing it behind her. Jaesyn lets out a groan removing his pullover hoodie. His chest is adorned in a black tank top as he retrieves the box cutter.
Crimsyn kept getting distracted by whatever she packed whether it be her stationary or her late summer into a fall wardrobe. She didn't think she was spending her next four years living with her best friend. Or moreso she didn't want to think about what would happen if he brought a girl home.
"Bleh!" She stook her tongue out not realizing she did that out loud.
He hoisted a box off the floor, assumed to be his bedding materials. Dragging the box cutter over its taped flaps he pulls out one of his old basketball jerseys and another pullover he thought he'd lost.
"Hey, those are my pj's dummy." She gets up in his face on her tippy toes reaching for it yet he yanks the clothing upward from her. Curse his long arms and tall stature.
Teasingly he smirks down at her, pushing her away by her forehead with his pointer finger easily.
"Aww, my biggest fan kept my memorabilia? How sweet, sweet-tart."
"Shut up just give it back- Woah!" Crimsyn slipped on the hardwood landing in his arms, her face in his chest as he pulled her close.
"Still clumsy, aye klutz?" He smiled, his canine teeth sharp behind his curved lips.
Crimsyn pressed her lips together not maintaining eye contact.
"I'll take that as a yes." Jaesyn lets go carrying the box to her side of the room.
She hated how much he got a kick out of teasing her. Yet she's never seen him do it to any other girl. Not even to humor the girls that did crush on him.
She grabs more boxes cutting them open. Jaesyn does find his bedding but was more concerned about where his pictures of them together were. He wasn't one to smile for the camera but Crimsyn's collection of polaroids was his only exception.
"Looking for these?" In her hand was a photo album covered in stickers. "I knew you'd forget to pack it so I did."
Loud knocks are heard as London enters with three pizza boxes. "Sorry, it took so long. Turns out I'm not the only one hungry for a few slices."
Her eyes look around in disapproval. "You two barely made a dent while I was gone."
Crimsyn found the box with their joining silverware and dishware. She'd wash them prior, handing plates to them both.
"Some of our boxes are mislabeled so the sorting took longer than we would've liked."
London takes a bite of her slice. "No no, it's fine. You've got all semester to figure it out."
Jaesyn chewed scrolling through social media, his bed made and his posters hanging over his bed. Crimsyn's side was done as well but her desk was still empty. She drank some soda brought in, trying not to think about leaving home.
"Any last words before I go?" London asks finishing her second slice. She grabs her bag off of Jaesyn's desk chair.
Crimsyn shook her head. Jaesyn cleared his throat. "I'll keep her safe London. She's in the best hands possible."
"I hope so or else I'll have you fixed, boy." Jaesyn knitted his brows together at her statement. "I'll drop by tomorrow with groceries and goodbyes. Good night you two."
Crimsyn waves her out holding back a laugh. "Night Big Sis."
Tumblr media
Night blanketed the sky just as moonlight seeped in through the blinds. Both showered and quickly were in bed. Jaesyn ate what pizza was left while Crimsyn sat arranging her desk. Her cute ocean-theme stationery was almost complete when she swiveled in her chair getting up with the box they were stored in hand.
"You wanna help put up my fairy lights?"
"I thought you said you could do it by yourself." He mocked her using finger quotations.
"I may have been wrong about that...so if you'd be so kind," She folds her hands in her lap. "Please help me. Please?"
"Are you sure? You were doing so well earlier." He raised a brow.
"Jace, don't be a dick."
He relents, pushing himself up on his elbows. "Fine, fine. You're too short anyway."
She backhanded his chest. Jaesyn climbed and stood on her bed, hoisting the lights near the pushpins holding her posters. Crimsyn fed the line to him as he wrapped them around each one. He'd taken care not to tug too hard on them, looking back at her now and again.
It was a warm feeling he'd get sometimes. Whether his chest, ears, or cheeks, she'd set him ablaze. He couldn't let her see it, not ever. He'll take those embers to the grave if he had to. It didn't help that she'd swiped his Aeropostale t-shirt. Her itty-bitty pajama shorts add more fuel to the fire.
Wrapping the last few she plugs them in turning off the overhead light.
Warm champagne coats the room. Crimsyn climbs into bed beside him as he sits down. She yawns, laying down, Jaesyn scooching over. His chest pressed against her back, his arm draped over her waist. She felt his thumb tracing circles on of her hand.
"Go to sleep, Jace." Crimsyn shushed him. Jaesyn turned on his back, toting her closer. She was on top of him, her head resting underneath his chin. Jaesyn inhaled her scent deeply as lonely strings of smoke filtered through his teeth as he exhaled.
"G'night Crim."

Crocodile finds a strange stray cat an 11-year old Nico Robin (AU where they met 13 years earlier. Robin's been on the run from the World Government for 3 years. Crocodile's 27 and has not set up base in Alabasta yet)
It seems like I have become possessed. By some sort of demon.

He was late and you were not happy. It was getting colder the longer you waited and you were ready to call it a night and climb back into bed. But a small part of you still hoped that he would come.
Something hit your window and you had half a mind to ignore it. But it was a persistent clinking against the glass. With a disgruntled sigh, you got up from your desk and opened your bedroom window, just barely missing another small rock aimed for the window. You frowned at the figure in your backyard.
“Romeo, Romeo. Wherefore art thou, Romeo?” You called out, faking a forlorn voice.
Seonghwa growled. “Quit your romantic crap and get down here.”
“No, I’d rather not.” You shot back, miffed.
“And why not?” He hissed through gritted teeth.
You folded your arms over your chest. “Well for one thing, you’re late. For another, it’s cold out. I don’t think I want to sneak out of my nice warm bed to go gallivanting with a boy who doesn’t even care about me to show up on time in the freezing cold night.”
He groaned. “Fine. I’m sorry. Now will you get down here?”
“I don’t know…”
Looking away, he muttered, “Please, will you come down?”
You leaned out of your window with a shit eating grin. “I’m sorry what did you say?”
“I know you heard me!” He snapped.
“Fine, fine.” And with that, you climbed out of your bedroom window and down into the backyard.
As soon as you were within arms reach, he pulled you close and smashed his lips against yours. You hungrily attacked back, pulling him tighter against your body. You let his hands roam your body as you let your own slip up his shirt. He groaned into the kiss as things got hot and heavy. However, you didn’t come out here for a middle school makeout session.
Pulling away, you started to head towards the front of the house. “C’mon! I came out here to ride your motorcycle! So let’s go for a ride!”
He grumbled under his breath, “Never thought my bike would be a cock block.”
